20 Best Wide Angle Camera (2022 Updated)

The SL3 is an amazing camera for the price! I’ve used the lower level cameras such as the T7(which I had originally planned on getting) and they’re almost incomparable. From the lightweight yet solid feel to the comparatively blisteringly fast autofocus.

The SL3 is worth the slightly larger price tag. Other features that set it apart are the in camera adjustments on the files such and being able to set the contrast and the saturation and warmth before you even take the picture.

The flip screen is also incredibly handy for difficult shots where you need to position the camera in such a way that you can’t look through the viewfinder or even the fixed screen. Overall an amazing camera especially for the price.

Keep in mind the camera is also limited by the lens no matter how good your camera is if you have a junky lens your image quality will be junky as well.

For filming weddings with this SL3 you have to ask yourself some simple questions? Are you good in filming events? Do you think that 4K matters? Can you shoot manual focus? Do you use a gimbal? Do you trust to press record again when you reach the 29:00 min recording? Can you this camera without a single battery changed? Finally, does body look of this DSLR would not embarrass you on a huge wedding event? IF YOU ANSWER YES TO ALL THEN GET THIS SL3!!! And leave the criticism to those that think that other pro cameras makes filming much greater! When it is you the person that makes things look perfect! Every camera out there have their flaws but it is you the videographer that makes things become an art and masterpiece.

This tiny DSLR is just a little chunkier than a small mirrorless camera and gives some unique alternatives. You can shoot it as a DSLR with a nice, clear optical viewfinder with 9 focusing points or you can shoot it as a “mirrorless” camera using the back screen which gives you many more focus point, eye AF and Canon’s legendary Dual Pixel Auto Focus that smoothly acquires focus without hunting back and forth.

For video people, you can clean HDMI output to an external recorder and get 4:2:2 10 bit at 4k! The new Canon 90D doesn’t have this feature according to the specs. The battery life is unbelievably good and will outlast ANY mirrorless camera by far.

THE BAD: 4K looks great but is not very flexible in as much as you have only 23. 98P and no DPAF! Rolling shutter is pretty bad in 4K. Also, 4K has an additional crop so you’ll really need a wide lens for it to be useable.

This camera has two levels of electronic image stabilization which works with Canon’s optically stabilized lens but crops your video further still! The sensor is really clean and almost free of noise at 6400 ISO and is very useable up to 12,800 with level one high ISO noise reduction turned on.

I didn’t see any improvement from 1,2, or 3 in terms of in-camera NR. The SL3 has a setting that makes the camera take 4 photos every time you press the shutter which it samples and then produces a single noise-free The creative filters are actually really handy and in some cases can provide a more interesting photo than even the most experienced photographer could take.

It has focus-peaking for manual focus or focus-pulling and the autofocus on the back screen does an incredible job following faces or whatever your subject is, keeping them in focus.

This camera was so much more than I expected. My main kit is a Nikon Z6 with several of the incredible Z-mount lenses. But it’s a heavyweight for street photography and the times I need to travel light.

For that purpose, I had a Canon EOS M6, which was a capable APS-C format camera, but it wasn’t weather-sealed, required a separate electronic viewfinder that was kind of a pain to use, and had a noticeable shutter lag.

Enter the Z50. This camera was clearly targeted at entry level consumers looking for a Z-mount, mirrorless camera. It turns out that the Z50 is really a lightweight Z6 with nearly identical features and capabilities, including weather sealing – a must for me, especially for street photography and travel.

The biggest difference is the APS-C sensor. Just for grins, I weighed the Z50 and the Z6 with equivalent lenses (in terms of field-of-view). The Z50 with the 16-50 mm kit lens was 1 lb 6 oz, while the Z6 with a 24 – 70 mm kit lens was slightly over 3 lbs.

Even though the Z50 was less than half the weight of its larger sibling, the build quality is excellent and the camera and lens are both solid. The kit lens also turned out to be really good. The light weight and compact size of the Z50 makes it perfect for the kind of photography I want to do with this camera.

I was a little concerned about the 20 MP resolution, which is slightly less than the Canon EOS M6, but the images have been fantastic. Even RAW images look great right out of the camera. I couldn’t be happier with this little camera, and as usual, B&H was great to work with.

2 things keeping me from giving it a 5 star review. A. ) The resolution of the viewfinder B. ) The autofocus in video. The resolution on the viewfinder is fine. but when you’ve tried something with a more detailed viewfinder.

you find yourself wishing it was bigger/better. The auto focus issues in video are well documented. on the kit 20-60 lens I found it to be pretty good in good light. With a sigma 24-70mm lens I found it to really struggle.

compared to what is available in other cameras. Those 2 issues aside. the camera does everything else really well at a tremendous value. over the last year I’ve been tempted by camera X,Y,Z but can’t rationalize selling this to spend more when it gets so much right.

The video quality is beautiful (especially with the latest firmware upgrades) and the dynamic range in raw photos is more than enough for me. Auto focus for photography is nothing to complain about. Eye/Face auto focus has never failed me in photography.

I like that the camera is smaller than most full frame cameras. every ounce counts when traveling. while not eliminating key things like dual card slots, flip out screen and image stabilization. Shooting time lapses are a breeze on this camera.

Using the lumix app on my phone has been much more pleasurable/useful than other manufacturers mobile app. The 4k live crop feature that creates a video clip with movement in it has been a surprisingly useful tool for B roll.

The amount of customizability is incredible. there are more than enough custom setting modes than I’ll ever need. Shooting manual focus lenses is pretty easy with it’s focus peaking and ability to zoom in 200% to nail critical focus.

I love how it will ask you what the focal length is when turning it on when there is an adapted lens on and then allows you to tell it so that it can get the stabilization right. Ibis is fantastic. Another feature that I love is when using a zoom lens it can show you what mm you are on.

so if you want to constantly get/use a certain focal length. it’s easy to reliably do so as it will show 35mm or 24mm etc. in evf/screen. The advanced video features are more than I will ever use. I’ve really enjoyed learning and using waveforms to consistently nail my video exposure.

All in all. happy with my purchase after almost a year of use. If you can deal with the 2 pain points I mention at the top of the review. save yourself some money. get this camera used and use the left over money to travel somewhere and get amazing photos/videos! One other thing that could be a pain point for most.

but it’s not for me and really is getting better. is the lens selection. the catalog isn’t as developed as something like Sony. but the key go to lenses for the L mount are mostly there now.

I am on my second 77D after rethinking my priorities and usage details. I bought the first one to replace a T7i, finding the rear control wheel and the AF ON button to make a large improvement. I have owned and used larger and smaller cameras, but this 77D is my goldilocks “just right” camera for ergonomics.

The menu and controls suit me very nicely. The images suit my needs very well, and I like the 1080p HD video just fine. I especially like the digital stabilization which gives me good results with hand held footage when coupled with an IS lens.

I love the small, lightweight lens choices that provide great results for modest cost. I currently own and use a Canon R6 and regard it very highly also. I love the electronic viewfinder and ibis. I prefer the smaller size and weight of the 77D, and feel that my perfect camera would be a 77D with the EVF and ibis added.

That camera, if available, would also need a similar lens lineup as the 77D enjoys. I purchased a Fujifilm X-S10 thinking and hoping it would be my perfect camera since it is relatively small, lightweight, and includes the ibis, EVF, and fully articulating screen that I prefer.

That camera has great image quality, and all the features I want. but. it just didn’t feel as nice to use. The shape and feel of the body is not as pleasant for me, and the menu and controls are not nearly as nice.

If I didn’t have the R6 I would probably have kept the X-S10 because it really makes nice pictures and has the ibis and EVF. The image quality with the X-S10 is a little better than the 77D, with quite a bit of improvement in high ISO capability.

The 77D is good enough and such a joy to use. By the way, I used the X-S10 for almost a year before selling it and purchasing the R6 as my main shooter. I have also enjoyed using Panasonic M43 cameras (G5, G6, G85) and really enjoy the ergonomics of those gems, but the image quality isn’t quite as nice as the Canon and Fuji APSC sensors.

Lovevery easy to use. We take photos at local farms for county newsletter. We were hesitant at first since it was a older canon, but after reading reviews, discovered that it was rated as one of the best.

Then while we were out trying this camera we ran into a professional photographer who showed us his many cameras and this was one of them. I included some of our beginner photos, but Im positive as we progress and get more comfortable with our selves photos will improve.

These are not bad for what our intended use is and on the first try.

I owned a Sony RX-10 Mk1 for quite a few years and it was a reasonably good all rounder. However I found it a just bit lacking in the image quality department especially at the telephoto end and autofocusing was a bit slow.

I surmise that the later versions of this camera would be improved but are pricey and lacked a touchscreen which is a must for me as I found them very productive in terms of user experience. I then looked at other fixed lens cameras bridge cameras with 1″ sensors and touch screens like the Lumix FZ2500 but found that though they are good allrounders but are compromised by the long zoom lens and to a certain degree by the smaller sensors compared to DSLRs.

I also used to own Nikon DSLRs but found them a bit heavy to lug around and live view focussing not too good which was why I bought the Sony RX-10 in the first place. After learning that there is a new generation of more compact and lighter DSLRs (comparable in bulk to the bridge cameras with 1″ sensors), I decided to give them a try.

I was about to buy the Nikon D5600 when I chanced on some publicity on this camera on the internet. The main point that attracted me to this camera was the new “Dual Pixel” sensor with purported fast/accurate autofocusing in live view hence suitable for video work.

Still early days and still learning to use all its features but so far I found the autofocusing to be spot on and images and very good (to my amateur standards). I also went shopping for some lenses to compliment this camera.

As I prefer zoom lenses I so far purchased 4 lenses with the following purposes in mind:- (1) EF-S 18-135mm IS STM – this lens has a stepper motor which is super quiet when focusing and hence good for videos.

Also the zoom range is excellent for general purpose walk around still and video work and not too large as to degrade performance. Not a fast lens but has IS which will help in low light situations but I mainly envisage using it outdoors or well lit interiors.

I also tried the newer version of this lens with Nano USM for faster autofocusing but found it not as sharp as my copy of the STM version so I returned it. Also bought the Canon PZ-E1 Power Zoom Adapter for this lens for video work.

(2) EF 70-300 IS USM II – this is the newest version of Canon’s telephoto lens and is excellent and sharp all round with fast and quiet focusing. Use for nature and sports photography. (3) EFS 17-55 f/2.

8 IS USM – for better quality photography or indoor or low light photography. Also good for situations where I want a blurred background (bokeh) eg. portraits. (4) EFS 10-18mm IS – for wide angle work – landscapes, architecture (buildings exterior or interiors with limited distances for longer lenses) THE GOOD:- Light weight & compact Dual Pixel sensor ( IMHO a game changer for Canon cameras which is not widely publicised) Touch screen Bluetooth connection (low power usage) Articulated screen AF button ( Many features trickled down from more expensive models like DiGic 7 processor THE BAD:- No headphone socket No 4K video – not a deal breaker for me as HD is ok for me now.

No micro adjustment for autofocusing No panorama photos Only 60 fps video “slow motion”.

So, I’m coming from a GX85 as an entry camera into photography and I must say, THIS IS A HUGE STEP CLOSER TO THE FEEL OF A FULL FRAME CAMERA without breaking the bank. I loved the feel of the GX85 because of its compact size but THIS G95 takes things to a whole new level and it’s not bulky whatsoever.

Microphone input and articulating screen were the main things I wished for on my GX85 as I intend to get into film. The G85 was the top recommended option based on budget but then I read of the G95 being it’s successor plus it included.

you guess it right, headphone input a plus. Like I said this is the closest step towards full frame on a budget and that’s mainly because of the 12?60 MFT which is an equivalent 24?120 FF lense. The photos produced are sharp and vivid and once I begin film I’ll provide content additions.

Make the right choice and invest in this bad boy.

This being my first MFT camera I am extremely impressed with how it handles low light. There is some noise with this sensor in extremely lowlight, but that is to be expected. It has also paired up quickly to my phone for remote functioning.

The biggest positive about this camera is its speed. When you want to take a picture it’s ready to go within a split second, and no waiting for the mirror to get out of the way when taking pictures; even with the mechanical shutter it is light-years ahead of DSLR cameras in terms of speed.

Great intro camera into the Panasonic MFT world.

The G95 is a good prosumer camera and wonderful for travel. Lighter than my GH5, it has the fun filters and settings to assist with a wide range of shooting environments. For travel (and video for that matter), the ability to charge on the fly via microUSB is great as is the weather resistance of the body the the 12-60 kit lens.

Yes, it is micro four-thirds so don’t expect it to be a great camera for shooting outdoor night football. But that also means the 12-60 kit lens is the equivalent of a 24-120 lens, which pretty much hit all the right bases in the 35mm film era.

Small, lightweight and excellent IQ. I shoot exclusively in Manual mode, and RAW files only. I process all of my files in third party editing software, so my skill level may be slightly above the target consumer.

Still, I find this body a worthy addition to my kit, it’s a great little camera. Intuitive touchscreen, and a minor learning curve in adjusting settings like ISO and aperture, but it’s quite simple. I’m sure full auto is fine, but I never use it.

I also never use the video function, so I cannot comment on that, either. It’s still a winner, especially if one has smaller hands and/or needs a lightweight kit.

YO!!! This is a really good start up camera for anyone honestly, I use mine for videography and photography most of the time. The weight of the camera is do-able, the way canon has made the body fit to the grip of your hand is very useful.

Overall the functions and setting are really easy to learn and excel in. Let’s talk about the quality that this camera can bring, no lie, the standard lens that come with the t5i body is only okay, I would recommend you save to buy a better lens that suits your work.

However the body of this camera has been great to me so far, the durability is has been holding up after intense usage. I get really great shots with this camera and it’s the only camera I have. I really like the touch screen feature and the screen clip back it really helps too when you want to take selfies.

I occasionally vlog with this camera too! So if youre looking to do a little of what I do such as photography, videography and you’re on a budget, i would totally recommend this camera.

I’ve had my canon T5i camera for around 4+ years. I love it. It’s my first professional camera. It has lots of different settings. It also had a lcd monitor screen on it which is awesome to have when recording or previewing your photos.

I would highly recommend this camera.

First off, I’ve been using Nikon cameras for almost 30 years. So please consider that if you are looking for a more “comparative” review. The nearest competitor I use is the Sony A6000, a completely different ballgame.

That said, it means I’ve been through the FM, FM2, F2, F3, F100, D50, AND D200, and currently use the 3500 as well as a D7500. The 3500 is wonderfully lightweight and compact Dslr, with outstanding image quality, compact format factor, exceptionally good lenses (10-20, 18-55, 70-300; all af-p’s and a 35/1.

8 and 85/1. 8 af-s), and incredibly good battery life. I don’t hesitate to use it on jobs. There is not a single complaint I can levy against this camera. I only shoot stills and don’t “chimp” (I’m a film guy), and it never has let me down.

I’m in manual mode 100% of the time, restrict auto ISO to 6400 and bang away. I’ve never had a camera stand out of my way so willingly and get such repeatable results. I use a few non-ai lenses so I love the absence of the ai tab on other, more expensive Nikons, so huge bonus there.

All of the above can be echoed for the D7500, and use both regularly. Highly recommended.

So far so good! I’m a complete novice when it comes to DSLRs. In the age of the smartphone, I never really had the chance to have an interest in standalone cameras. I received this camera for my birthday and have been having a lot of fun taking pictures and messing around in manual mode.

The presets are good and intuitive, and there’s even a guide setting that helps to get you the pictures you want to take. The camera feels solid in my hand, and comes with a nice strap to hang around the neck and shoulders.

I love that you can connect the camera to your phone via Bluetooth and send pictures so that you can quickly upload them to social media. The battery life is good – I’ve only charged it once since taking it out of the box and have been using the camera for about an hour or so everyday for a week, plus I’ve forgotten to turn it off on at least one night.

I took one star off because there is no way to attach a microphone, which I feel is a basic function that a camera of this caliber should have. As of now, I’ve only been taking pictures of my kids and inanimate objects.

I watched a few YouTube videos to get me started and now I’m just practicing to get better in the manual settings. If you’re on the fence about buying a DSLR in 2021 and the age of the semi-decent iPhone camera, I say do it! It’s a fun hobby that you can pick up and learn quickly.

My husband bought me this camera for my birthday. I have owned it for over two years, and it has always been my go-to camera! I literally bring it everywhere to take pictures and make memories. We are avid travelers, and I have taken it all the way from Hawaii to Florida.

I have made dozens of photo books, and have taken my children’s senior photos, wedding photos, new baby photos, and so many vacation photos. The camera is easy to use, easy to transport and easy to clean.

I take it to the beach a lot, so it sometimes gets a little salt water condensation on the lens. However, I use specially made lens cleaner for my camera and a soft, microfiber cloth, and everything looks like new.

The quality of the pictures is always crisp and clean. I have won awards for some of my photographs using this camera. One thing that I would suggest is to purchase an attachable lens cover.

I bought this camera to do videos. The camera took superior quality video and images (the sole reason for my two stars), but getting them off the camera to my computer was a nightmare. The EOS software apps are impossible to pair with the camera and the interfaces are seemingly programmed in 1996.

I’m not even exaggerating. Worse, once you install the very antiquated software, the camera can’t be found or paired over wi-fi. Again, total nightmare. I ended up selling the camera after weeks of frustration trying to get it to simply work.

Another downside is that this camera EATS batteries in video mode, and you can’t plug it in and charge batteries at the same time. Again, not user friendly. In terms of the other products in the bundle, the case was good quality, as was the tripod.

I didn’t use the mic, but it seems very cheap.

The Canon EOS M50 Mark II is a very good digital camera for photographers. Excellent for 1080p video but not 4K. The autofocus system on the Mark II is an improvement over the previous model. It has improved face and eye detection so you’re less likely to get blurred photos with this camera.

The built-in flash works well in low light conditions. You need to use the touch screen to get effects such as blurred backgrounds. The retracting design of the lens makes it relatively compact to carry but you will need to buy an extra battery for extended shooting time.

You will also need to buy a couple of photo quality SD cards. Connects to your computer via a USB connection with Canon’s Webcam Utility software.

So as they say, It’s not the size of the camera, but the quality of the lens. I bought the body only (as shown), and instead got the Canon EF-M 22mm f2 STM pankcake (for wide shots and portability) and the Canon EF 100mm f/2.

8L Macro IS USM w/adapter for tele shots and macro shots. I have other L-lenses as well, but these two I chose for this camera. Mainly I use this as a B camera for overhead shots (w/ boom) when vlogging product videos.

Don’t let the size fool you, it’s a very capable camera! It can also double as a travel camera if you like. I immediately switched everything to manual, turned off the non-pro menu features, and enabled volume meters while recording.

So I can’t say a whole lot about the prosumer features because I just don’t care. Those that say that you can’t access the battery while mounted. it all depends on your tripod head. I didn’t have that issue with the boom I’m using.

Also, if you’re mounting on the adapter or lens, you’ll have more flexibility as to what tripod head you can use. I think this is great for the boom because it’s not too heavy. I have an on-camera mic (Sennheiser 440k) since this camera is the closest one and am using a wireless lavalier w/ camera A, which is further away.

So I can’t comment on on-camera sound, except to not use on-camera sound on any camera for any serious purposes. Cons: I haven’t tried the HDMI out feature yet, but I did notice that if you disable the screen info for the HDMI out, some features will not be available.

The 4k is crop. Recording stops after a certain amount of time without the HDMI, so I do check from time to time to ensure it’s recording. I wish there was some alarm or beeping to let you know, or just not have it turn off.

You have to hunt for the menu to enable volume meter while recording. It should be default. The grandma/prosumer/baby menus (to stay politically correct) are disconcerting and I turned them off. Stabilization is digital.

I’d shy away from it and rely on lens stabilization if available, or a tripod. The automatic switch to visor is annoying since anytime your move your hand to touch the screen the screen turns off. so I disabled this default setting.

Really I just use this as a B-camera so all I cared about was getting it up and running, which I was able to do after customizing the settings to my needs. My favorite part is that Canon colors always come out looking great.

Just keep in mind that the camera alone will not get you good footage. Make sure you have good lighting, miking, camera position/movements, and a great lens.

I’ve owned this camera for about a week, and so far it’s great. I’m only a photography hobbyist, and this is great for my current capabilities and understanding of photography. I’ve used it on a couple of photo walks with folks around my neighborhood, and it’s very light/portable.

It’s the perfect size to put in one of those Patagonia Atom sling bags to keep at the ready. The battery lasts a long time and charges quickly. I’ve kept it in manual mode the whole time I’ve had it, and being able to change the ISO on the fly is a completely new concept for me, as I’ve only shot film until owning this camera.

Being able to change the ISO, the shutter speed, and the aperture all with the same dial is a very handy feature. Before I figured out how to do that, I was changing all those settings on the touch-screen like a scrub.

The screen is great, and it’s very easy to move into different positions. The screen even automatically turns off when you bring the camera up to your face so you don’t accidentally change any settings with your nose.

The menus are also very straightforward. The camera ships with Japanese as the default language, but in spite of that, I was able to find my way to the ‘change default language’ and switch it to english.

The lens it ships with is great too. It’s good for shooting up-close subjects, but you’ll need something bigger for subjects further away. Overall, it’s a good amateur-level camera. I haven’t truly put it through its paces yet, but I’m looking forward to it.

My aging Nikon D5200 has a lot of shutter actuations, an increase in hot pixels, and a cracked but functional LCD screen. I was ready to go mirrorless, but I could not find something that would match up with an all-in-one lens.

I would have liked to continue using a Tamron 18-400, but I was open to a mirrorless compatible lens if it could offer a similar range of coverage. I did not, so I looked at Nikon’s SLRs. Weight has become important to me; the D5600 was the lightest.

Similarities with the body and menus to the D5200 were also a plus. My prior lenses remained usable. Having opted for the D5600, I found that almost none were in stock. It is now labeled an older product.

Nikon may have discontinued its manufacture. Bodies alone were not available, so I took a gamble with a kit lens and body combo. The gamble is that there is no manufacturer warrantee, only a limited warrantee by the seller, because the products were not produced for our region.

I got a shock when I turned on the camera; the menus were in Asian pictographs. I did find one line that was in Roman letters -Language. Once I selected that and English I was ready to continue my set-up.

The D5600 works, and is compatible with my lenses. However the New Nikkor 18-55 lens is not reverse compatible with my D5200. When the 18-55 is put on the D5200, the message Lens not attached appears.

I note the my ML-L3 infrared remote does not work on the newer D5600. I did buy a corded remote instead. So far the gamble has worked. I may go mirrorless and or full frame later, but for now I can wait for the right all-in-one zooms to develop.

If I find any other issues with the D5600, I’ll update this review.

I did a lot of research before choosing the Nikon D5600. I just wanted a new hobby and decided to take up photography. I even upgraded my cell phone to support the camera. I don’t have any problems using the Snapbridge although the WiFi sometimes takes few minutes to connect.

It seems to have an easier time hooking up when I am away from the network at my house. Every photo I have snapped is instantly on my phone and my Nikon Image Space account. I like the way the D5600 feels in my hand.

I adore the articulated touch screen. That feature alone is the reason I chose this camera over the D3500. The controls on the camera work well with me. This might be because I am not comparing the camera with any other camera.

The included 18-55 AF-P VR kit lens seems to be of a really nice lens. I am saving up for my next lens. The AF-S 35mm f/1. 8. I have read the reviews. I am really liking my new hobby because I chose a great camera to start with.

The only things about the kit that I am not thrilled about are camera strap and the white piece of plastic rear lens cap. Those two issues have already been remedied. The flash on the D5600 is very nice.

It gets used often because the kit lens relies on it because it is not a low light lens. Pictures turn out great! I am impressed by the image quality of camera and lens combo and how instantly it focuses.

I bought David Busch’s “Nikon D5600 Guide to DLSR Photography” which brought up to speed really quickly, as none of photos I have taken were done in full “AUTO” mode. All in all I am beyond thrilled with my Nikon D5600 and Adorama’s service.

I shoot Pentax, Nikon, Leica and Rollei and I have many film and digital bodies. This little beauty is by far the best value in a camera that I have ever experienced. and the most fun to use because I can mount my many Pentax and Leica lenses as well as my Nikkors.

The image quality is absolutely stunning! Easily the equal of my Pentax K1 despite the lower resolution. but with much more flexibility. I am exclusively a still shooter, never having taken even a single video with any of my digital bodies and most of my shots are focused manually so I can’t comment on action performance.

I can say that with my 200mm f/2 VR2 Nikkor lens and the FTZ, focusing is instant in any light. and more consistently accurate than any of my D bodies. There is one caveat. You must always be sure that the little rectangle is where you want to focus.

I always use the center and the rectangle has this annoying tendency to move around. And this can get you wondering what’s going on as it hunts focus because you are inadvertently on a blank area. Fortunately, there is a button on the back that instantly centers the rectangle to the center.

My main use is with the 58mm f/0. 95 Noct Nikkor and with that lens a telephoto is almost redundant since radical crops to 300mm equivalent look fantastic. I will get the z7II next for the even higher resolution.

It was an easy choice for me. I have two D750 bodies I still use, but having a more compact, quieter camera for my photojournalism jobs I find this camera supports all those needs. It’s not the fastest camera, but I’m not missing any shots.

The files look beautiful, the camera feels great in my hands and I love those barely audible shutters especially when I’m getting close to people I’m just only meeting during an assignment. My only complaint is that I mostly use prime lenses and when switching non-Z-mount lens off of that mount adapter is not the easiest thing to do, especially during soft early morning light.

I’m sure over time it will become pure muscle memory, but so far it’s not a favorite moment during my shoots. Most of my work is still work, but the video is solid with great stabilization. No complaints there at all.

Also, having dual SD cards feels like a no brainer. Who wants to spend more on card space. Battery life is less than what I got with my D750s. But my last shoot I took about 2000 frames shooting in RAW, no stabilization, in manuel mode, and I was looking through that camera viewfinder a lot for a 4-hour shoot and the battery was 1/4 depleted by the end of that shoot.

So not as bad as I heard at all. Overall I’m very happy with this camera.

The camera produces very good results and is extremely light and small. However th esmall size does mean that the range of controls is more limited than on a full size DSLR and those controls are set closer together.

The sensor is extremely good and noise levels are contained up to relatively high ISO’s. A major issue is the poor algorithm that is used to select a combination of aperure and shutter speed in the P setting.

That renders the P setting almost unusable and I have found that best results are obtained by using the Manual mode, setting the aperure and shiutter speed appropriate to the occasion and using Auto ISO to adjust the resulting image.

Unfortunately this leads to two additional defects in the firmware. As on many DSLR’s aperture is adjusted using the control on top of the camera and shutter speed by a rotary dial on the camera back.

While the top control is very positive and easy to use once its position is learned the same canot be said for teh rotary control on the back of the camera. That control not only rotates but can also be depressed in 4 directions and it is far too easy to depress it while adjusting the shutter speed and to accidentally move, for example, from auto ISO to a fixed ISO value.

To undo this accidental change can be time consuming. Such accidental errors could be so easily avoided if the firmware required any of the four “corners” of the dial to be held for, say half a second, before the rotary dial assumed its other function.

The second firware defect is that, when the exposure settings are being changed in manual mode with Auto ISO the displayed ISO selected by the camera is replaced by “AUTO” instaed of changing as, say, the Shutter speed is changed.

The new ISO only appears when the shutter is half pressed. Thi sis in stark contrast to my Canon 7D Mk2 where the apropriate ISO remains live and changes in response to user changes in Aperture or Shutter speed.

Both these defects lead to loss of time in selecting appropriate settings which can be the difference between taking and missing a good photograph. Because of that I have reduced my rating to only 3 stars.

In general, the A6600 is a big steup in, an evolution but no revolution to my previous A6000. Realtime AF tracking works mostly great, color noise which was present even in daytime shots with dark sections with the A6000 are gone.

Build quality is hopefully better (my first copy of a A6600 had a button issue). What really sucks is the annoying message when you use 3rd party batteries each time you turn the camera on with this battery after you have upgraded the firmware.

This is obviously a return to the bad old days when Sony forced its customers to stay in their ecosphere by using proprietary plugs etc. If “protecting” the cusomers from a 3rd part battery would be acceptable if it shows up once the battery was inserted, not each time you turn the camera on.

If it weren’t for the excellent 1655/2. 8 lens, I might have moved away from Sony. Drawbacks from the A6600 are its size and weights, especially with the 1655. You are close to FF territory with that.

And an issue is the non-zero occurence of AF misses when you stop down the 1655 to f8 or higher.

I love this camera so much that after the first one was destroyed by the dust in the front element (in that I tried to open it and fix it myself) I bought another one, thinking that I could protect it better than the first.

As a professional photographer, this camera takes beautiful photos in environments that my large DSLRs (D810 and 1Dx) would not be appropriate (i. e. scenarios as a photo journalist that would bring unnecessary attention to documentary work).

Not only does the camera blend into its environment, the photo quality is beautiful with a natural grain that does not have a ‘watercolor’ look from smaller sensors. It is fast, silent, and can capture family shots during on road travel.

However, I am terribly disappointed with Panasonic on not weather sealing the front element. You can literally see two open slots feeding air into the front. Another camera ruined, and I am not going to buy a third.

This is very unfortunate, given that there isn’t another camera with this form factor that provides a f/1. 4 lens and all the great photo features that this model provides. However, there is an annoying ‘warp’ (i.

e. rolling shutter) to the photos at 24mm during fast motion in the photographer’s frame of reference (not the subject’s frame of reference) when holding the camera. Let’s hope that Panasonic will release a Mark II version of this model.

I am not a camera expert. My last one was a disk camera, and the one before that used flash cubes. I am also not particularly computer savvy. All that said, I love the ease of use with this camera but am very disappointed in the batteries.

On a full charge, they each only last for about an hour of intermittent use. Maybe I just got a bad batch? As a few other reviews have mentioned, this camera does not come with a manual, but it’s available as a PDF online.

The camera DOES come with a quick-setup guide, though, so if you can follow directions from Step 1 to Step 2 you’ll be able to get this thing to work. You select your own language and date format. If you don’t want the camera to think for itself, there are options to set it for night use, facial features, the outdoors, pets, and even fireworks.

The zoom is very simple to use. The right side of the camera has rubber hand grips for 3 fingers and your thumb. It would have been helpful to me to have something similar on the left side, because my hands shake slightly and I don’t use it one-handed.

It is also important to follow the instructions for actually taking the photos. Downloading the photos to my computer is extremely simple, because it uses the same cord as my non-smartphone. You will need to buy one of these separately! The case is large enough to hold all of the accessories, along with a sandwich and a small apple.

Attaching the neck strap and lens cap to the camera requires a good bit of manual dexterity. All of the items in the bundle are individually wrapped and firmly packed into an appropriate-sized box. The supplier provided tracking information and regular updates.

The bottom line is that this is a great camera for a casual hobby photographer, including a disabled woman taking photos of birds from her back porch. Because of the extreme battery use, I don’t recommend it for selfie-takers or someone who intends to take hundreds of photos in one day.

I ordered this camera for Christmas for my daughter. Sadly it wouldn’t charge up when she tried to plug it in. Contacted the return department online and they sent me a prepaid return label to print out.

Within about a week we had a new camera. My daughter loves it. The ability to zoom in is amazing and with a clear picture. B and H had the best price on this model and the red color is nice. Despite the first camera having a bad battery or charging problem I would order from them again due to their no questions asked, quick substitution and quality product.

This seems to be a very nice camera for the price. The 42x zoom allows great outdoor shots from a long distance. Certainly a good buy for a novice photographer. My only complaint is there is only a quick start guide with a few basic instructions – how to install battery and memory card, button to push to take picture, etc.

You need more instructions than that to use this camera and you must either download the manual or pay $7 – $10 plus shipping to purchase one. This detail is an unexpected pain and Kodak should do better than that for their customers.

This was a steal at the price, and the perfect next Nikon for me. I have always been an avid photographer, but never had the cash to commit to great cameras. This camera has been extensively reviewed on Youtube and tech websites, so I did my research before buying.

If you are looking for an entry-level camera body with a FANTASTIC autofocusing kit lens (it has a smooth manual-focus override ring), with multiple modes, Bluetooth transfer capability (albeit slow) to devices, Wifi connection, and a Live View LCD screen mode, look no further.

Nikon delivers the perfect frame every time, and always has. The color reproduction is phenomenal. The detail and clarity of sharp images is outstanding. If I had a reason to buy this camera twice, I would.

Instead, I am going to spring for the 1. 8 aperture 35 mm lens to give myself better low light pics. DON’T GET ME WRONG, THOUGH — THIS CAMERA TOOK SPECTACULAR PICS AT TWILIGHT, AND EVEN SOME AT NIGHT.

After many years with a Canon EOS 450, I finally got round to upgrading to something more current. Still a few years since launch, this camera is night and day to the Canon. Gone are the compact flash cards, limited ISO options and low res lcd screen.

Replaced instead with a more standard SD card slot, a host of options, filters, modes and a bright menu and live image viewer on the LCD screen (which also has the option for a live view). The feature set is rich with possibilities and allows for even a complete beginner to take incredible shots.

The depth of field and focus settings are simple and the image processing chip makes even tricky shots look professional. This pack, which includes the additional zoom lens, is an absolute steal for the price and unless you are a professional photographer or have need of a mirrorless camera, it will do everything you need and more (did I mention HD video capture?) Absolutely brilliant camera, I would recommend to anyone looking for their first DSLR or thinking of upgrading from an aging entry level item.

Camera, lenses, battery, etc. , all arrived safely, and on time, in a very nice case. First time I have used any camera rental service, and I’m glad I choose Lenrentals. I had heard good things about them and now I see why.

I rented a Nikon D5600 and three lenses to see if a small, older DSLR would be a good fit for me. The camera takes great pictures, but I decided it wasn’t what I wanted. So I figure I spent a little money to save me from a more expensive wrong decision, plus I enjoyed playing with the camera for a few days.

Also, if I had wanted to purchase the camera, they offered me a deal to keep the camera and one of the lenses at a price that included a partial discount of the rental fee. (It would have been a good deal if I had wanted to get the D5600.

) The rental process is explained well and they provide all of the supplies you’ll need to pack the items for return. Very easy process. Also, if you’re nervous about damaging your rental items, they offer insurance at a reasonable price.

I will definitely use Lensrentals again.

Good feature set, better for video than still images compared to a DSLR. Menu system is deep and can be overwhelming. The viewfinder [EVF] can be terrible when used in snow or any outdoor, bright light conditions.

The Leica lens is okay, but the small sensor size means at 600mm your images will look pretty poor. Overall, I’d call this one a swing and miss for still images, especially and specifically at full or near full zoom.

The EVF makes for short battery life and that EVF is just not very good as a composing tool. The autofocus can be slow to lock and that can make this a very frustrating camera when trying to capture even relatively slowly moving objects.

Video is pretty good, unless panning, where rolling shutter problems can be a serious problem. My main cameras are SLRs and DSLRs and this was purchased as an adjunct to them in my wildlife photography efforts, but for that use case, this is just not the right tool for me.

Honestly, sorry I bought it but cheap as it was, it seemed like a reasonable risk to take. There may be some people who have a great use case for this camera, but I am not one of those. I’ve been taking photos for 50+years so I’m not exactly a newbie photographer and I’ve owned and used dozens of cameras and lenses.

I’ll update this as Iget more mileage with this camera but after using it for several weeks in multiple settings, I come away with the opinion that this is just a point-and-shoot camera with too much sizzle, not enough steak and too small of a sensor to make it a worthwhile tool for me and probably many other photography fans.

I got the Nest Cam to monitor activity on the side of our home that leads into our yard. This area is a blind spot for us and faces the entrance to our cul-de-sac. We own a couple of other Nest products and it is a reputable brand that I trust with performance and longevity.

This camera also has several features which helped in making our decision to get this camera. It can be used indoors or outdoors, it is powered by the built-in rechargeable battery, and it can provide intelligent notifications (motion is caused by people, animals, or vehicles).

This product was very easy to set up and install. You will first need to plug the Nest Cam into an outlet, download the Google Home app, create an account and follow the steps to set up the camera by selecting Nest Cam(battery).

There is a sticker on the camera lens which has a QR code that you will need to scan to connect the camera to your home’s Wi-Fi network. After connecting, you will be given the opportunity to enroll in a 15-day Nest Aware trial period which one needs to view recordings longer than the most recent 3 hours and also the face recognition feature.

This is a con to me when subscriptions are required to reap further benefits. Installing the Nest Cam was quite simple as all you need to do is attach the mounting plate, with the enclosed screws and anchors, to the area you want to place the camera then lock the magnetic plate onto the mounting plate and secure the camera to the magnetic plate.

The camera holds steadily once installed. The beauty of it being battery powered is that you can place it anywhere! The video quality is superb for both day and night and the motion detection and intelligent notifications were precise.

I liked that these alerts can be tailored such as you may only want to be notified when a person causes the motion and not a car or animal. The app is easy to use and we are reassured that we can readily monitor our house while we are home or away.

This indoor/outdoor Nest cam with rechargeable battery is a great product. Upon unboxing, the camera is held to the base by a very strong magnet. The base can be mounted wherever you can get a couple screws into a wall.

It has two wall anchors and screws. Very simple install. The camera itself is solid and well built and has a nice aesthetic to it. I’m using it under the front porch overhang about 8 feet high so it’s outdoors, but protected from rain and elements.

The LED status light does shine green when recording, and while it can be dimmed, it cannot be turned off (at least not that I found). It does offer two way sound so you can talk in real time to someone in the viewing area, although I have not used it.

The video quality is good and sufficient for my security/monitoring purposes. It does a good job identifying the subject as person, animal, or vehicle. The battery life will depend on how much movement it detects, but for my light usage, it should easily last 3+ months before needing to be recharged, which is a very nice tradeoff from having to have it hardwired to a power source.

The Google Home app is easy to use and setup, as is the camera itself. The one detriment to this product is that without the Nest Aware subscription, you can only view recorded motion that has occurred in the last 3 hours.

If it has occurred over 3 hours ago, it will be gone and you will not be able to see it (without the subscription). It’s understandable they want to steer you into the subscription service (as nearly all of these types of products do) so just know that going into your purchase.

Knowing that limitation going in, the product is actually very good and it performs well for what it is intended to do.

This Nest Doorbell is wireless and uses a rechargeable battery. It’s very versatile and will work at any location whether it’s residential or a business. The doorbell is even capable of telling the difference between a person, animal, automobile or package.

It will send you mobile notifications according to what you select under settings. Some really useful features that this doorbell has are the ability to view what’s outside your home/office and speak to anyone out front while you’re somewhere else.

This comes in handy if you have to run errands or go out of town. It works with other nest products and comes with 3 hours of free event history recording. The video quality is great and allows you to see clearly day or night due to the high resolution and night vision.

As for the installation process, it was pretty simple since it’s wireless. I just found a spot I wanted to install the doorbell and using the metal base as a template drilled a couple of holes in the wood trim near the door.

I used the hardware it came with and it was done in less than 10 minutes. You have the option of connecting it to your existing doorbell wires using the wire connectors included in the box. The Google Home app allows you to view or replay videos as well as talk to visitors among other settings.

The downside is that you will need internet, wifi and a google account to be able to use this doorbell. Although it’s a Nest product, it’s not compatible with the Nest app or website. Battery life depends on several factors including amount of usage, outside temperature, and camera settings.

Overall, a nice wireless doorbell that does the job. As for product longevity, I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

The Camera stats and its performance within its price-point make it a super value! Even given it’s age, it parallels and even outperforms some newer cameras with updated tech (IMHO). I honestly don’t believe enough people knew about or still know about the power of the SL2.

Canon’s incredibly friendly user-interface still leads the pack. I will eventually buy another one to future-proof me from $2k – $4K cameras just to have the latest tech! I want to spend my time taking photos & learning to do it better.

the SL2 has more than enough tech to continuously challenge my learning curve while allowing me to enjoy the art. Enuff said.

I wanted a second camera from my primary D3400 for two reasons: 1) as a backup and 2) so I could keep a zoom lens attached and at the ready to ensure I don’t miss a moment when the opportunity presents itself if I were to have to change lenses.

I chose the D3300 because it is less expensive than the other Nikons that are fully functional with the AF-P lenses. Having the D3400 as my primary camera means I have no learning curve with this one, and the price on the used market for this that is fully compatible with my D3400 accessories is wonderful.

It takes great photos and is easy to use. This would make a great primary camera as well, in fact I probably would have ended up with this as my primary camera had I been on the market for it when I shopping and ended up with the D3400 – it just was no longer on the market at that time and I was brand new to photography and wanted a brand new camera.

Knowing what I know now, and for the purpose that I have explained for buying this, I am thrilled to have bought this on the used market. I’ve used it as my primary camera in the month since purchasing just to run it through its paces and it functions as well as my D3400.

(The photo shows it with a standard lens just for the sake of simplicity. ) The lenses I have and can confirm workseamlessly with this camera: – Nikon AF-P 18-55 VR ( (came with my D3400 as a kit lens) – Nikon AF-P 70-300 VR (the kit lens is not VR, I sold my kit lens and bought a VR) – Tamron 150-600 Di VC G2 (Tamron model A011, specifically designed for the Nikon cameras from the D3300 and higher) – Tamron TC-X20 (2x teleconverter specifically designed to be paired with the 150-600 lens) – Yongnuo YN 35mm prime lens – Ultimaxx 6.

I purchased the D3300 new and in order to downsize from a heavier, larger DSLR. Big mistake. I tried several Nikkor digital AF lenses on the D3300 (35mm f1. 8G, 24-120mm f4 DX, 18-140mm, 50mm f1. 8D, as well as the included 18-55mm kit lens), and the same two issues were prevalent regardless of which lens was used: 1) overexposure and 2) lack of sharpness.

I like to take landscapes, cityscapes, floral and still-life subjects, so I tested each lens from full sun to shadow and at various times of day. I also used the D3300’s program, auto, shutter-priority and aperture-priority functions.

The D3300 consistently over-exposed, and sharpness was an issue in most instances. Not surprisingly, sharpness was easier to achieve (but still unacceptable) at smaller apertures for brightly-lit subjects.

Even at smaller apertures, I needed to use two-thirds or more of the D3300’s onboard exposure control to compensate, which is too much, in my judgment. In several emails with Nikon customer support (with camera still under warranty, of course) I was assured such exposure adjustment was not unreasonable.

No repair or adjustment was offered, so I sold the entire outfit and went in another direction. While I fully realize the D3300 was entry level for DSLR, I expected Nikon to offer a more usable anddependable product.

I have experience in full-frame, APS-C (Canon and Fuji), and micro four-thirds, as well as 35mm and medium format film for over forty years. If you’re considering the Nikon entry level DSLR, you may be better off with a good quality point-and-shoot — even a Nikon.

Exact same image processor and sensor as the D3400 but I am able to use the D3300 with my D3400 kit lenses and I have the ability to use an intervalometer for astrophotography unlike the D3400. The image quality of the D3300 is gonna be the same as the D3400.

If I had known Nikon took away all ability to use an intervalometer on the D3400. I would have just bought the D3300 instead and saved myself some money!! But so far the D3300 has performed well! No issues at all! Everything functions properly! If your are thinking of buying a D3400 hundred, depending on your intended use, I would recommend the D3300 instead.

Not too much difference between the 2, but the D3300 gives you the ability to use accessories such as a microphone and intervalometer. The D3400 does not offer this!! The D3400 does offer a bit more settings which you may or may not find useful and has extremely high ISO settings, so high that in my opinion, I have no idea what you would use an insanely high 25000 + ISO setting for in any real world application!! Maybe that is just due to my lack of knowledge on this matter!! But if your looking for versatility in an entry level DSLR and looking into Nikon, I would steer more towards the D3300 for its ease of use, full manual control and settings, and it’s versatility vs the D3400!!! Easier than having a wired system and they have options for different power sources, color and ease of setup. I had the ring doorbell so I was familiar with the app and the many different settings you can use, which made the setup for each camera easy as pie.

Unlike most systems I have used this was so easy and affordable for monthly services. You definitely get what you pay for these as far as performance is concerned as long as you have a reliable internet source you should not have any issues with it unless there is a power outage than remote access is stalled until it gets restored.

Other than that it doesn’t stop the camera from recording motion or detection of a person where they should or should not be and stores it in the cloud. Only issue I think they should come up with is if a natural disaster happens where internet is out for extended period of time to have some way of using GMRS service much like a cell phone does to access important videos.

If you plan on having multiple cameras definitely buy extra batteries. Video quality is decent but could be a little better along with the sound and mic pick up. I have had mine for now over two years and never had any real major issues with it.

I now have 8 cameras in total and over the time since my first camera they continue to add more features and updates that have never affected the performance of these in a negative way. Also customer service is outstanding whenever there is an issue.

I had wires run to the area of my house specifically for the video camera. The install wasn’t too bad, but found the basic ring instructions weren’t as easy for this as the doorbell. Would recommend a quick YouTube video if it’s your first time.

Overall got it installed in about an hour. Pros: – Does a great job covering a lot of area. I actually had to lower the detection area because it could cover so much. Also love the spotlight that comes on at night when motion is detected.

– Multiple ways to install the camera. I have it under the eave of my house which is at an angle, and was worried about mounting it to work properly. Ring gives you 3 different brackets and he no problem making it sit how I needed.

Cons: – Has just OKAY quality. It’s usually pretty clear, but can get grainy when zooming in. I have the Ring Doorbell Pro 2 and this is definitely lacking compared to it. – I struggled getting the security screw to actually hold it in place.

Also ended up needing to grab some bigger screws to secure it into the house siding, as the screws Ring provided were too small. These could be issues specially to me though, so not dinging Ring on that as much as just making it aware.

– Feel like it’s a little pricey, but if you’re wanting to hardware in without cables or deal with batteries, then I think this is the best route currently.

I’ve been using two of these cameras for about 6 months now with Ring’s Protect Plus plan. I should note that these are the first home security cameras I’ve ever owned so I have no other points of reference for anything I say below.

Build quality/hardware is good with one exception noted below. Easy to mount. Video quality doesn’t seem to be 1080p to me, though that could be more the fault of the video compression they use for their services; clear enough to see what you need to, though.

Night vision is good. Audio quality through the two-way microphone is acceptable. Lights, which can be set to turn on automatically when motion is detected, are very bright and are, in themselves, a significant mischief deterrent.

They handle the elements very well (I live near a coast so they’ve dealt with everything except snow). The app and its features are easy to use but the “Person Detection” algorithm they use to cut down on unnecessary motion event notifications (which significantly impact battery life) needs a lot of work (regularly detects my cat as a person even from a very, very close range).

Battery life is okay. If you configure everything as close to “default” levels as possible and don’t use the Live View too regularly, you’ll probably get around 10-12 days a charge. Luckily, the cameras have a second battery slot which, to me, is a must unless you get the solar panel attachments.

My single biggest complaint with these cameras is that, considering their mainly outdoor purpose, the wireless hardware in them seems very subpar. I have a very good home network that’s manually configured and optimized for speed and signal strength and yet, the two cameras that I have are about 15 feet away from my router and the Ring app very regularly says the signal of the cameras is too weak to use the Live View (they’ll still record motion events even when it says this but being able to access the feeds on-demand is a big part of the “peace of mind” factor for me and they’re just too inconsistent on that front).

I’ve tested the areas where these are installed to see if they’re just random dead zones for whatever reason and my phone and laptop grab the wi-fi signals consistently just fine. That, alone, brings them from 4 to 3 stars, in my book.
