20 Best Wifi Bridge Kit (2022 Updated)

I brought this under advice from PCCG. I use it in Access point mode to send WIFI 50m from the house to the shed. It works well and now have stable internet in the shed. It was a bit difficult to setup but I managed after consulting a few youtube videos to walk me through it.

Overall very happy with the purchase.

very clever piece of kit, can be used example for extending your own broadband over a massive long distance, or even (eg) plugging an ip camera into one and viewing the camera very far away. There are many modes available.

At the moment we are using it for a community radio station, so one device picks up the audio signal (music) and sends it to the transmission site (a mile away) for re-broadcasting on dab and fm, so very very useful indeed.

Another use would be, eg, a live disco performance, and being able to send it live to a radio station or other.

This is not the product that I received. They replace it with cheaper version. They said its the latest.

I think the eero 6 mesh wifi set is pretty amazing. Due to where I have to keep my router I have been suffering from weak signals in parts of my house. Our house isn’t very large, but the cable hook up is in the southeast corner of the house.

The two bedrooms on the north end of the house have always struggled to get a decent wifi signal. Earlier this year I got fed up with it and did some research and came to the conclusion that our nearly 10-year-old router must have been the issue.

So, I swapped it out for a Netgear Nighthawk after reading rave reviews. Alas, it didn’t help very much. Then, I read about wifi extenders and bought one of those. While this did give me strong signals throughout the house, the extender’s network came with a bit of a lag, as it had to relay from the main network.

This made streaming tv (we’re cord cutters) difficult, especially if there were multiple devices running on the main network. I realized that a mesh network was probably going to be the best solution for our situation.

In came eero 6 to the rescue! I had just succumbed to the idea of living with spotty wifi in our house when the chance arose to get this system. I thought I was getting pretty decent speeds with my Nighthawk, but the eero blew that out of the water.

I ran speed tests in a few areas around the house to see how much of a difference, if any, the eero system would make. In the living room (where the router is located) my speed more than doubled. In the master bedroom, the furthest away from the router, my speed quadrupled! I know, impressive.

What’s even more impressive is that those speed numbers are indicative of only having the main router hooked up. I hadn’t decided where I wanted to put the two satellite routers yet. After installing those, I was able to get speeds almost 10 times faster than the Nighthawk alone gave out to the master bedroom.

I am even able to get decent speeds in the furthest corners of my back yard, whereas before I was lucky if I got any signal at all just outside the back door. One thing to think about before running out to get one of these systems is where you want to place the two satellite units.

While they are wireless in the sense that there aren’t any wires connecting them to the main router, they do still have to be plugged into a wall socket. This could be an issue if you have an older home with very few spare outlets.

Fortunately, the routers are relatively attractive, so they won’t be an eyesore sitting on an end table or nightstand. You can even turn off the LED light if that poses an issue. One thing that bothered me about my Nighthawk was how bright it made my living room in the middle of the night with all its very bright blinking lights emanating from behind the TV.

There is one thing I have to criticize the eero 6 on and that is its instructions. They are very minimal and they leave out one key piece of information, which is to turn off wifi on your phone. I tried over and over for 20 minutes and could not get the router to connect.

Then, I just happened to recall that when setting up a Ring doorbell you have to turn off wifi on your phone. Having that one step in the instructions would have saved me a lot of frustration.

Reliable system. I’ve had the Eero 6 Mesh Wi-Fi 6 system for over a month now. The router and the extenders are placed all throughout the house. Each are located on all three levels of the house. The router and extenders communicate Wi-Fi to each other and splits the connection between multiple devices.

My phone will connect to one of the three Eeros that is nearby. Walking between different rooms my phone will connect from one Eero to another. A different device may be connected to the same exact Eero or on a different one with my phone.

This alleviates pressure from a single router to transmit Wi-Fi to all devices. On a side note, these Eeros will only connect to new/relatively new devices (e. g. phones, laptops, tv’s doorbell, etc.

) to use Wi-Fi 6. Don’t disconnect your devices from the old router immediately. Make sure all your devices can pick up the Eero on Wi-Fi 6 first. You can change the bandwidth but Wi-Fi 6 is stronger.

I still have a couple of devices connected to my old router due to this condition. Until I update those low tech devices. I believe this should be rated as five stars. Great and reliable. Especially if you plan to add multiple devices throughout your residency.

I recommend purchasing the Eeros or at least a mesh Wi-Fi system.

In the world of routers, the current Eero 6 features the 802. 11ax spec in the form of the dual-band Eero 6 and tri-band Eero 6 Pro. The latest 802. 11ax spec (now called Wifi 6 or Wifi AX) improves on the previous 802.

11ac (known as Wifi 5) abilities by providing greater bandwidth, more simultaneous wifi use, and better range. In theory, even if your existing devices are not Wifi 6 capable, they will be able to utilize the greater bandwidth and better management of the frequencies to provide a better internet streaming experience.

Currently, the Intel 10 gen processor-based computers and modern smartphones (iPhone 11, iPhone 12, Samsung S10, S20, Note 10) all support this new standard. In the Box: The dual-band Eero 6 comes with three matching power supplies, two matching Eero 6 mesh expander units, one Eero 6 mesh router (with ethernet ports), and an ethernet cable.

The box comes with instructions that will help you set up the unit. Setup: The beauty of the Eero is the quick hassle-free setup. The experience does not change regardless of which version of the Eero you own.

The initial setup does require you to use a phone or tablet to download the Eero app. The setup device should be connected to the internet for an email & phone number, as part of the setup requires you to activate your account.

Once you have plugged in the main unit (the one with the ethernet ports) to the internet modem and given it power, the setup process can begin. It seems to use a combination of Wifi and Bluetooth to find the router to connect.

Once you enter your serial number of the router, the setup is almost complete. Add your network name (SSID) and the passkey and you are done. Setting up the nodes can now be completed by following the on-screen information in the app on your phone.

The Eero will update and maintain itself, with little for you to do. Eero does offer “upgrades”, as part of the setup process, particularly the Eero Secure and Secure+ features. By default, you are signed up for a free 30-day trial, but you can turn that off.

Eero Secure at $30/yr is plenty for most people, keep track of your kid’s internet use, block ads and prevent them from going to naughty websites. For that, the price is worth it. The Eero Secure+ builds on features and provides a VPN, Password Manager, and an Antivirus for $99/yr.

It must be noted that I am reviewing the three-pack, dual-band Wifi 6 device, which features only one of the routers with ethernet ports (doesn’t matter which one is LAN and which is WAN, it figures it out) that connects to the modem.

The mesh expander routers only have a power input. The three-pack of the tri-band Eero 6 Pro, is larger and features the exact same router, and is agnostic to which router is connected to your modem.

The dual-band has a difference in the design as the mesh expander units do not support a wired backhaul, however depending on the version you buy, you could technically create the feature by purchasing multiple dual-band Eero 6 router units.

Performance: The Eero 6 dual-band Wifi Router is a must-have if you are looking to upgrade your service. Eero’s current generation of Wifi 6 devices includes the tri-band Eero 6 Pro, the dual-band Eero 6 (main unit), and Eero 6 Repeater units.

The difference is in the performance achievable by the routers. The Eero 6 Pro obviously is going to be faster, and more capable as it supports a dedicated wireless backhaul frequency, and an optional wired backhaul to connect between the routers The 3-pack Eero 6 however is a dual-band and does not support the wired-backhaul (unless you buy multiple wired units).

The inter-connections between the mesh units use the existing wifi signal to expand the wireless connectivity. This reduces the effective total speed capable to be used by the wireless units and limits speeds to 500 Mbps Now that does not sound like a whole lot, but it is more than enough for a vast majority of the people who are looking to improve their wifi connectivity and internet experience.

For me, the biggest drawback to this dual-band Eero 6 unit is the expandability of the network. With only 1 spare ethernet port on the main router, you will require the use of a switch if you need a wired network for legacy devices.

In general use, I find speeds quite good. Initial speed tests were a bit lackluster, but after 36 hours the system optimized itself and I found the speeds to be more than adequate. I have a 200 Mbps connection, far lower than the theoretical cap of 500 Mbps, and I was able to extend the range to let me stream movies while sipping cocktails by the pool without losing performance.

The ability to easily expand my wifi connectivity to the pool by just placing the mesh wifi units wherever I deem convenient just makes this brilliant. The good news is that Eero devices are backwardly compatible, and my existing Wifi 5 (802.

11ac) Eero plug-in extender was easily integrated into the Wifi 6 network, providing easy expandability. Neat Features: If you are like me and use smart home devices, this latest generation of the Eero 6 units features Zigbee protocol and can act as your smart home hub.

You can expand your Zigbee device range by integrating the Eero 6 mesh routers. What uses Zigbee? Well, a whole lot of devices, from your Amazon Echo / Alexa, Philips Hue, Belkin Wemo, Samsung Smart Things, etc.

Basically, if you use any smart home devices from locks to lights, the ability to extend the Zigbee protocol signal is brilliant, as now you can technically have amazon echo control your smart home devices from anywhere, just have to connect your Eero to your Amazon account.

Pros: * Ease of setup – though requires a working cellphone with internet connectivity for SMS and email verification at the time of setup * Generally advertised speeds are achieved with ease, but the dual-band Eero 6 does take a performance hit for the wireless backhaul, still, 500 Mbps is more than enough for most people.

If you are fortunate enough to be able to have gigabit internet service in your area, you should upgrade to the Eero 6 Pro. * Self-healing wifi network. * Backwardly compatible with previous generation Eero units available on the market Cons: * No wired or dedicated wireless backhaul for the mesh expander units unless you buy multiple router units, or just get the Eero 6 Pro.

* Limited account controls in the app for monitoring kids without paying for the Eero Secure service ($30/yr). * Lag in switching from 5 GHz to 2. 4 GHz and vice versa, it seems some devices hold on to the frequency and will not hop over to the 2.

4 GHz band (which has a slower speed but signal travels a longer distance) when moving around as seamlessly, so a performance hit occurs. This will probably be fixed in a firmware update in the future.

I bought this product to use with my TP Link main router. I used it to extend the signal into another area of house by hard wiring it using a cat 6 cable so no drop off in signal. Then used the wifi to spread to the rest of the house.

Out the box it is programmed for use as a wifi extender but after downloading the tp link app it was easy to change the mode to receiver which enabled me to have it hard wired. This was one of the few in the range to be able to do this so perfect product for my situation.

Great strength and speed once set up.

Pros: Perform well, no intermittent or fluctuating signal. Improved the signal in my room from 60Mbps up to maximum-110Mbps. Highly recommend if you have Internet signal issues.

We had several dead areas in our house. The install of the tp-link was incredibly easy. It eliminated completely the dead zones. I could not be happier. When I upgraded my router I am happy to know my extended will not be outdated.

Finally a range extender that works.

Purchased to help get a better than marginal signal to the kids bedrooms for online school. Bought a different brand and after hours of fighting to set it up, gave up short of throwing it over the fence and returned it.

Picked up this guy instead with zero expectations after my last experience. This was up and running in about 5 min. App set up was very easy and quick. Seems to be working just fine at first glance. Signal in the kids rooms has gone from weak to strong and videos are downloading fine where they wouldn’t before.

One device isn’t connecting (Roku) but that’s the only hassle so far.

I have to admit I struggled with this wifi extender, and maybe Ive misunderstood the function, because Im not an IT expert. In our rear TV room the wifi strength from our home Orange Router was fair to sometimes good.

The purpose I bought this for was to improve this wifi signal, and improve my TV streaming quality. So, the setup is not as straightforward as it seems, to cut a long story short, I used the internet to connect, and I set up a separate wifi account, with its own name, but using the same pass word as my home router.

There are good Utube guides on how to do this, because I found the included instructions not accurate for the internet set up. So, everything was good, I positioned the extender between my own home router and the rear TV room, I had three wifi bars showing, and the app said it was in an optimal position.

And then some good news, the wifi signal went from fairgood to very good in the rear room, I was happy. But, when I streamed my TV, it was buffering as much as before, and going off all together intermittently This didnt happen when connected to the home router.

So, I decided to do a Speed Test, and found my router WiFi was pumping out 16Mbs on wifi to the rear room, and the extender was down to 12Mbs, so I tried changing the servers, and also trying through my VPN link, still the same, 16 from home router, 12 from extender.

So, this took me to the end of my expertise, and I would like to know why the extender cant at least boost the signal so it matches the router, and also why does the extender improve my wifi signal strength, but not the streaming speed Ive sent it back, excellent service from Amazon as usual, but I still dont understand why it didnt improve my TV Streaming So, in my case, didnt work.

Ive still given three stars because it does boost the wifi signal, but didnt appear to improve my tv streaming, good response from vendor, appreciated. Further update, after receiving very detailed vendor support, ive changed my router wifi channels to new settings, and the extender streaming speed has increased from 12Mbs to 15Mbs, and is now matching my Orange Router in the marginal wifi zone in our rear bedroom, Happy.

The lesson ive learnt is that, for the price, its an amazing product, but you have to perceiver with the set up and testing. And certainly contact the vendor with any issues.

The Eero 6+ AX-3000 is a 3 pack, dual band mesh wifi 6 system that is easy to set up, fast, and provides excellent range capable of handling at least a 3000 square foot house. Set up and control of the system is done entirely through an app downloaded to your Iphone or Android phone.

In my case, it was an Iphone. Set up allows you to keep the SSID and password from your previous network which had been a Velop tri band mesh system. I found this tremendously helpful since all of the 25 or so devices that I have immediately recognized the new network without additional configuration.

The first of the 3 pack devices is connected to your cable modem, etc. and is configured during the initial setup. The additional 2 devices can be configured during initial set up or any time later through the app.

I ended up using only 2 of the 3 pack devices since the 3rd one would have been overkill for my 2200 square foot house unless I wanted to extend the network deep into the backyard or my neighbor’s yard.

As I mention, I previously had a two pack, tri band Velop mesh system. This system had served me well for several years, however, I have recently acquired several wifi 6 devices and the Velop system was not wifi 6.

I have about 25 devices on my system including 4 HDTVs which I constantly stream. In actual operation, the eero system felt very quick and no buffering occurred. Range was also excellent exceeding my previous Velop system.

I have 1 gigabyte per second internet coming into the house. About 20 feet from the router and in the same room as the router, I was able to achieve about 900mbps on my laptop compared to about 750mbps with the previous Velop system.

A story below the router and through 3 walls, I achieved around 250mbps compared to 200mbps with the previous system. I you are a heavy user of video or other data intensive devices and want a network that is easy to set up, fast, and with great range, I highly recommend the Eero 6+ AX3000.

When I stopped renting my modem/Wi-Fi router from the cable company I chose a stand-alone modem and Wi-Fi router. I started with a single original eero unit and it had better coverage of my home than the cable company combo unit as the salesman had promised.

I had powerline units to repeaters all over the house with the cable company unit and when I had the single eero unit. One at a time I added additional eero units until I had 5 to cover most of my 5000 square foot H shaped home.

I was finally rid of the troublesome wireline units with repeaters. My home is difficult for radio signals because of its shape, a number of interior brick walls, metal cabinets with metal backsplashes in three rooms.

I just replaced the 5 original eero units with a 3 pack of eero 6+ units. Throughout the the parts of the house we spend the most time in we get the same fast (250-300 MBps) that we get in our den a few feet from the modem and base eero unit.

The 2 satellite eero units are in place mostly because our TIVO-Mini units don’t work well with Wi-Fi. The rooms with the satellite eero units get an adequate Wi-Fi signal for most of our needs without the satellites but being able to use a network cable to the Tivo-Minis allows us to flawlessly stream HD and 4K television.

The setup was quick and easy. I already had the app on my phone. I deleted the old network from the app and unplugged the old units. The app gives clear instructions that were simple to follow. The new network was up and running in no time.

The one thing I would do differently is keep the name and password of the old network. I didn’t really consider that by giving the new network a different name that I would have to individually log each Wi-Fi using device into the new network.

I couldn’t be happier with my new 6+ version of the eero. I have 3 units providing better coverage than my 5 original units were. Simple setup. I’ve never had a single issue with eero equipment in the past.

Problem free technology, what else could one wish for!.

Pros – Easy to setup and connect these to an existing network/modem. Follow the steps and you will be up and running in minutes without fail. App walks you through step by step. I opened the box, pulled out all 3 eeros.

I then proceeded to plug in the first one and allowed it to connect. Once it connected, I switched my lighting hub to use this device which took about 2 minutes to be added. I then proceeded to adding the next one and set it up.

Then I proceeded to do the next one and got it up and running. I did have to connect existing devices to the new “network” SSID since it didn’t transition the password from the old one with the same name.

No issue doing this process, just connect devices to the new network, even if using the same name (iphones, ipads, tvs, streaming devices) and type the password. Devices are very quick to connect to the new network in about half the time it took with the older devices.

Build quality and size of these devices make them ideal for placing around the house. We have about 2000 sq ft house upstairs plus a basement. I placed one next to the modem, another one at the opposite end of the house and another in the front part of the house.

I am able to connect devices outside on the pool deck without fail. Speeds for all devices is very fast. I noticed that the streaming devices aren’t buffering like they were on the older network “extenders”.

These can also use the new Echo devices which have eero built in to extend your wifi to various areas of a large house. Very clean and small devices are very easy to hide behind objects on a shelf or in a room without anyone knowing they exist.

I have the Hue system for over 4 years now. Changed the home, took the bulbs and bridge with me, moved in a bigger house, absolutely everything is on HUE system. The thing is: I have 42 lights downstairs with 11 switches and smart plugs, and 26 lights and 15 switches and smart plugs upstairs.

I had to organize everything on 2 bridges. I had to integrate everything in Samsung Smartthings, in order that my Google Assistant to recognize all the lights. I expected from Philips in this 4 years to come with a better solution, like releasing a better hub to integrate everything on one hub.

I hope that someone from Philips will take my review into consideration. I had to do a lot of research on internet and on my own expenses in order to achieve a full smart lighting system using Philips Hue.

Therefor I gave a 3 star Rating in order to catch someone’s attention. I believe that I’m not the only one with this problem.

I absolutely love these light bulbs!! I want them everywhere in my house. I use them as a way to help me fall asleep and wake up. The dimming and brightening reallt help. My only wish is that I could just click a button and the lights would dim for 5 minutes or 10 minutes or 40 minutes or how ever long I decide…instead I have to manually change the dial to start dimming one minute after the current time.

It’s minor but it’s annoying. I feel having the lights automatically go out at a specific time each night is unrealistic and I usually end up having the lights start dimming on me while I’m finishing up something before bed.

I’d prefer to go to bed early/late and just click a button to have them start dimming!.

We loved this setup initially. Redid our entire basement, stairs and outside lighting with Hue, spent well over $700 on lighting. The Building Inspector was so impressed he asked for information on the Hue system.

We learned that in the event of power failure, the system defaults to all lights “on”, no warning/notification that every light in your house just turned on. But OK, now you know the power blinked sometime in the last month.

Then one day, the whole thing lit up. OK, power outage. But we were home when it happened. All clocks were still fine. The Tap accessories didn’t work. deleting a light and re-adding it by serial number didn’t work.

The only option was to find the breaker panel and kill the circuit controlling the lights. That meant running an extension cord to the sump pump, and using a flashlight to get to the breaker panel whenever we needed to go downstairs, but OK.

A week later, we discovered that circuit also powered the fridge, and we now had spoiled food. If you use this system, you better have a backup plan because it will fail. And light bulbs, once programmed to respond to the Hue system, can never be reset.

The Bridge will not find the bulb, even by re-entering the bulb’s serial number. $700 was only the beginning, if we have to replace all the light bulbs every time the Bridge hiccups.

This product is fantastic, we have a total of three bridges (access point to client bridge) across our property and they all work flawlessly. We have 140Mbps up/down and after the 3rd bridge we have not lost any speed at all.

Bridge 1 is 700 ft. , bridge 2 is 200 ft. , and bridge 3 is 500 ft. When I was setting up bridge 3, i could see the signal from bridge 1 (3500ft. away with tress and obstacles). Admittedly the signal was not that strong, but just the ability to go 3500 ft.

through buildings and trees is amazing. The setup is not difficult if you have a basic understanding of how IP addresses work and how to assign your computer and devices static IP addresses. If you’re coming into this with no experience there are plenty of youtube videos, if you’re a problem solver you’ll be able to figure it out.

There’s a review on here stating that an IT professional could not figure out how to install these correctly, this is absurd. if you can’t install these you are most definitely not an IT professional.

Overall we are very satisfied and plan on using these devices whenever necessary in the future, I would recommend the Enstation5-AC to anyone debating whether to trench and run fiber or setup wifi bridges.

We easily saved $10k (maybe more) by not having to trench and run fiber.

These bridges are awesome! I’ve set up six sets over the years. I use these to connect remote building up to a half mile apart on ranches and large estates. Once the link is up, you can forget about them.

I’ve never had a set lock up or stall. They’re fast enough to pass 4K video. Many customers use these bridges to view remote cameras. Of all the WiFi gear I’ve installed over the years, the EnStation AC’s are my absolute favorite.

It’s just like digging a trench and running fiber. This really is a FIVE-STAR product.

I am an IT pro. I needed to get internet from building 1 to building 2. building one has a modem, router. I used these to go from building 1’s router to building 2’s router and they work perfectly. I have a lot of know how regarding ip addresses, network settings and the like.

I can imagine this would be very very stressful for someone not in my field. Some of the set up routine even made me stop, think and reason out some aspects. I will say one thing. These are *strong* access points.

incredibly strong. Also, incredibly fast. No difference from a wire in all speed tests. I would use these for this type of job again hands down. Today is the first day they are up and no complaints.

I can honestly say the setup was extremely easy. I plugged it in, pointed a browser to the appropriate address ,and voila, it was connected to my router. After that, the problem started. WD claims that this is compatible with all brands of routers.

In my case it wasn’t. I have a Netgear Nighthawk X4 R7500. It is an AC router (AC2350), so I figured connecting it to an AC bridge would be a marriage made in heaven. Wrong! I connected a TV to the bridge for video streaming.

Things started well, but after about an hour, video froze. I had to power cycle the bridge to re-establish its connection to the router. I had to keep doing this, so there must have been some kind of protocol conflict between the router and the bridge.

I just couldn’t get them to play with each other without issue. I then used an older Netgear N750 router as a bridge to the same TV. No buffering. No lag. No Freezing. So again, there must have been a conflict of some type between the Netgear router and the WD bridge.

The Netgear router to Netgear bridge setup worked flawlessly. I wished it had worked for me, but it didn’t. I still give it points for ease of setup and administration.

I made the mistake of ASSUMING this bridge was dual band(2. 4 & 5 GHz) as was most all the models I researched. It is not. You have to read the users manual to discover that your router must be 5GHz or 2.

4 and 5 simultaneously. Going back and looking closely at the specs and features info, there is no mention of this. My router is a Verizon Jet Pack which can output either 2. 4 or 5 GHz, but not both simultaneously.

Once I figured out the problem, everything “hooked up” and worked. Only problem is, I have devices that are 2. 4 GHz ONLY. So, if I want to use them, I have to go into the setup on the router and switch it to 2.

4GHz, then back to 5 GHz to use my “main” devices. The bridge works fine,,,,so far. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is due to the lack of accurate information in the advertisement. Price, shipping, and quality are good.

Would recommend it IF you are sure it will connect to your router.

For the money this WD Bridge has performed flawlessly for 2 months now while connected to my Linksys EA6400. This was purchased to cure an issue I was having with my Samsung All in One PC. The PC which runs Windows 8.

1 (awful) refused to keep a stable wifi connection. I was torn between buying a new OS (Windows 7) or trying a bridge. The bridge did the trick not one disconnect or reboot needed in over two months and I am receiving true AC speeds.

I will say that I did have issues connecting the bridge to my router. I had to trick the router in to accepting the bridge. Can remember the exact method I used. sorry a few IPA’s will do that to you.

Anyways, I would recommend this to a friend and will also consider WD for my future networking needs.

The ENH500 needs to be purchased in pairs. One is located at your point of internet service, the other to a remote location in the line of sight od each other. Whatever internet speed you have at location #1 you can transmit to location #2 and connect it to a router and have the same speed internet at both location.

As long as there is a clear line of sight from #1 to #2 you will will have it. Mine on located on a 20 Ft. section of the old TV antenna on my roofs. Yes there are trees in the line of sight but it works great.

I have remote IP cameras on both properties that I access from my smart phone and it alerts me when there is activity. Plus guest have password secured wireless at both locations. Its a great tool. I have used these for 4-Years and just added a 3rd ENH500 location.

Just as a mounting tip. I used an adjustable plastic flag pole mount bought at a local hardware store. Then I zip tied the antenna to the section the pole would insert into. This zip ties allowed me to turn/twist the antenna left/right and the flag pole mount also lets you adjust the angle up/down.

Since I mounted both of mine indoors and no one can touch them this works. Not sure I would attempt the same thing if mounted externally but I’m sure it would work fine as well (as long as you used thick enough zip ties).

Cheap plastic tends to weather horribly and become brittle. It’s actually contoured on the back a little for pole mounting and I see folks mounting these with huge satellite mounting brackets and satellite poles.

You don’t need to support 40lbs so go with a flag pole mount instead (use a PVC pipe if you need to extend). If worried about lightening get an adjustable metal flag pole mount so you have something to ground (with optional ground wire of course).

Overall I think this is a fantastic device. Not the greatest long range AP, but it definitely works at a distance within 200-300 feet depending on conditions. The bridge mode works VERY well, for instance if you needed to hook up the networks between two buildings that are within 500ft or so of each other then this device will work for you! The weatherproofing is a great feature that will allow you to mount this to the outside of the building(s) for an unobstructed view which in turns maximizes the distance and connection strength.

Another thing I wanted to test was connecting this as a bridge to a standard router network, i. e bridge this with a dualband router. Unfortunately I do not own a dual band router so I can’t tell you how well it will work.

To sum this review up: Would I recommend this to a friend who needs a long range AP? No probably not Would I recommend this to a friend who needs to bridge networks together? YES I most likely would!.

We decided to put real TV sound on our porch flat panel. Sonos is the only system that allows for a Dolby 5. 1 system to be deployed without running wires. We used a PLAYBAR positioned beneath the TV and a Sonos BOOST to create a separate subnet for the SUB and two PLAY:3 speakers.

The BOOST allows us to avoid any signal traffic interference with our porch wifi network. The BOOST also allows all of the wifi attached Sonos gear to look like a single device to the home network. The Sonos home theater gear all went together easily and configured quickly.

We couldn’t have been happier. We used an Ethernet drop to the porch to get the FiOS signal to both a Roku and a TiVo mini to drive the TV. We configured the TiVo remote control to handle the sound volume on the PLAYBAR and to select between the streaming sources ? Roku or TiVo/FiOS.

Sonos made this configuration simple. The PLAYBAR/BOOST combination takes care of making sure the 5. 1 volume is set correctly on the PLAYBAR/SUB/PLAY:3s. We were concerned that big sound would be difficult to pull off on a 20’x50′ porch given that it was open on 3 sides.

The sound field of the Sonos home theater system was mind boggling on every corner of the porch. We could turn it up to drowned out lawnmowers and leaf blowers. We actually mounted the TV/PLAYBAR/BOOST on a rolling cart (from Premier Mounts) so that it can be positioned to best suit where the audience is on the porch, or pushed back out of the way.

We could not be happier with the way it turned out.

Sonos no longer supports the Bridge as of May 2021. Wouldn’t connect and when I called Sonos technical support they said unplug it as it is now a brick not a bridge. The app is so far advanced the bridge is unnecessary.

If you’re trying to replace one that fell in the bathtub, this should work. If trying to connect another Sonos product you’re out of luck.

Did exactly what it was supposed to do. It extended the signal so there were not any interruptions. I was told this could be done with the BOOST or by connecting another Sonos speaker to the router. Another Sonos speaker would cost twice as much, and it was not needed in the room where the router is.

This was a cheaper alternative that did the job.

We had a few Hue bulbs that were being controlled by the Hue bluetooth remotes, so it was nice to ‘formalise’ things and have the Bridge to talk to all of them. Setup was fairly easy, and will be straight forward for most reasonably tech-savvy people.

To set the bridge up in the app you do have to have the bridge connected to the same wifi as your phone. I don’t use my router’s wifi, as I have a Tenda meshed wifi network, so this meant I had to juggle a few devices around to get a free ethernet port on one of the Tenda boxes.

The app itself is nicely designed. It has a very easy to use interface, which looks better than some other smart home apps in my opinion. It naturally directs you to create groups based on rooms, and it has an ‘I need help’ option built into almost every step that takes you to another page.

The only thing is that the content for these pages is a bit basic. You don’t have to create an account if you don’t want to, although realistically to do anything advanced (like turn lights on/off when you’re not at home) then you’re going to need to create one.

Whether you really need the Hue Bridge in these days of Echos and Google Homes that can do almost everything the bridge and Hue app can, I don’t know (e. g. you don’t have to have the bridge to use the Hue bulbs with Alexa).

I’m sure there are some things the bridge does better than say an Echo, but for me, it’s one more box plugged in, one more cable mess. If you have a smart speaker with the ability to connect to Hue bulbs, I’d say probably just use that.

We bought this so that we could control our 7 Philips Hue White Ambiance Still LED Smart Semi Flush Ceiling Light with Bluetooth and Dimmer Switch. It took me many hours to get the Bridge to connect to the lights – I eventually achieved it by turning off all other devices in the room where we installed the Bridge.

I then discovered that the App was very unintuitive but that as far as I could discover it was impossible to set the lights to a colour and light level which would be retained after the lights were switched off.

So either you leave the lights on all the time and rely on use of the Bridge to switch them on and off – a step too far for us – or you reset them each time, which does not give any advantage over Bluetooth.

I also discovered that with the Bridge in operation, the dimmers supplied with the lights no longer worked, so that in some ways we were worse off. I have just tried to use the App on Bluetooth – it required resetting, so that I will have to redo all the Bluetooth connections – in itself not easy and very time-consuming.

We have now spent over £1,300 on this system and do not have the light settings we want. John Lewis were helpful in that they sent a replacement hub at one stage. On the Philips website there is an unobtainable number and a FB page from which they have deleted my posts asking for help.

These products are really only for people who enjoy playing with technology. Apparently it is too late for me to get a refund on the Bridge.

The Philips Hue Bridge was easy to use once it’s set up. Took a while to get it to connect (this may have been because of our wifi, but I don’t know) However, once it was set up it was simple to navigate around and add your lights.

Nice feature is if you have multiple lights (which I would recommend) you can link them all so if you change colour or brightness and they all do it at once or you can set each light up individually to have different colour or brightness to create whatever effect you like it’s pretty extensive.

The reliance of needing your phone on you is slightly a annoying but definitely not a hindrance. The range of signal is pretty good but if you have a huge garden this could be an issue. Around the 30m mark.

I like being able to set times for when I want to switch lights on and off, very handy. We have used this with our outdoor garden lights but plan to add additional connected lights within the house as it has been easy to use and handy to have the control of lighting when trying to save energy.

I don’t use the alexa but I imagine that feature would be useful for people who do.

I decided to replace an older tp-link powerline and this seemed to fit the bill for my purposes. Getting it connected and running was pretty straightfoward. Perhaps the 16-digit initial randomised password was a bit cumbersome, but once I had that copied, resetting my devices to the new network name was easy.

As ever, you have to give things a few minutes to find each other. The app (android version) is what I can only call clunky. But I finally found everything I needed and when I have a spare rainy afternoon I might even try changing the devolo network name and password to my original network name.

That way, if I decide to stick another adapter into the circuit, I should be able to get the beam thing working. I haven’t found out if you can turn the LED lights off, which I would like to do. But that rainy afternoon is filling up.

It linked in easily with my Netgear Nighthawk RAX80. I haven’t played with hidden network names because 2 of my bits of kit are a bit older and won’t work with hidden networks, but I think you’ll be able to do that if needed.

Online registration worked fine and I think I got an additional year warranty for that. Happy with purchase 3 weeks in.

These devices are expensive especially if you need several of them. Buying used devices was my only option. I use 3 magic 2 wifi next 2400 where it is needed and magic 1 Lan 1-1 1200 where single Ethernet is enough for example getting our cctv online and a Now TV box in a separate room, so including plug connected to the router I have 6 devices.

Notably they are much faster than the previous DLan 1200, 500, 200 mix I had but still nowhere near the advertised speeds, but I didn’t expect that. Based on our large house with complex mains wiring I’m happy with devolo magic 1/2 wifi and lan plugs.

I’ve tried another brand on wifi 6 from and they were returned, so large houses, complex wiring then I recommend devolo magic or dlan, with small properties, I guess, you have more choice.

Absolutely brilliant. In the past, I had used TP-LINK products to extend my internet connection over the power lines to my room in the house. No matter which TP-LINK product I used, they all had the same problem.

constant disconnects and SLOW speeds. The disconnects would require switching off the mains where the adapter was connected and switching them back on to reestablish a connection. This happened every 15-20 minutes.

Their customer service was useless as they blamed in on my house wiring nd basically refused to help any further. So I purchased the Magic 2 starter kit. Plugged in the two adapters and after a few minutes they connected to each other.

The manual says three minutes but it wasn’t that long. Since then, not a single disconnect and the link speed is 1300 Mbits/Sec. These units use a special communication chip that is specifically designed to transmit data across power lines.

Other brands adapt standard ethernet chipsets to work on power lines. The difference is phenomenal. If you want a network extender that actually works, then get this one and pay the extra money. or you can buy a cheaper brand and be frustrated all the time waiting for your internet to work.

It’s that simple.

I have this product to connect two buildings that are about 200 feet away from each other across a street. With a 50up/50down connection with Frontier Communications, I get 45down/49up with a 5ms ping from one building and 43down/49up with an 8ms ping from the second building.

Internet is great. I do see some latency opening up a 1gb Quickbooks database across the bridge. A computer in the same building takes 15 seconds while one across the bridge takes 27 seconds. I would like to this improved, but overall it’s fairly minor.

These units are very simple to setup. No issues with them what so ever. I was able to modify the SSID and encryption with ease. Not sure what issues other people are having. We are shooting this about 1 mile and have minimal speed degradation.

Source is a 100 Mbps down, Destination is getting 71 Mbps down. Installed a router at the destination location and all is well.

Wzmacniacz umiejscowiłem naprzeciw routera pośrodku skrajnej wschodniej ściany – odległość między urządzeniami 9 m, po drodze dwoje drzwi. U mnie te dwa urządzenia wystarczyły aby pokryć zasięgiem cały dom – dociera nawet do piwnicy Jak dla mnie rewelacja! Co do parametrów samego urządzenia nie będę się wypowiadał, gdyż można sobie o nich poczytać.

Natomiast najistotniejsze rzeczy jakie zauważam z punktu widzenia zwykłego użytkownika: zdecydowanie lepiej działa sieć 5Ghz, pod warunkiem, że wzmacniacz ustawiony jest na maksymalny zasięg. Tak na prawdę nie ma wtedy praktycznie żadnych spadków prędkości – wszędzie, gdzie mierzyłem, byłem w stanie uzyskać prędkość w granicach 120 Mb/s i takie też mam łącze.

Gorzej jest ze siecią 2. 4 Ghz, która na wzmacniaczu osiąga prędkości mniej więcej o połowę mniejsze niż na routerze. Tak więc gdy z routera uzyskuję jakieś 70 Mb/s w 2. 4Ghz, to na wzmacniaczu jest już ok 35-40 Mb/s.

Niemniej jednak jest to dla mnie wynik bardzo zadowalający. Urządzenia podłączone do sieci działają szybko i bardzo płynnie, bez zawieszania się, buforowanie platform streamingowych na dwóch telewizorach niezauważalne.

No i dla mnie wisienka na torcie: dzięki onemesh mam w domu jedną sieć mimo dwóch urządzeń. Zakup uznaję za udany!.

Streaming to my TV. not happening. Therefore, I was happy when after pairing next to the hub, I was able to move the TP-Link to my hallway. I had a good connection on both bands within a minute. Results: I can use my cell phone sitting on my couch and I have a good signal at my dining room table (MacBook pro).

——— I had to do some finagling to establish the link to my hub to begin with. This is an Apple AirPort (model is about 8 years old, attached to an 8 year old iMac). Some persistence and I had a connection established but I’m fairly adept at setting up Macs including dealing with permissions, etc.

I don’t know if it’s the age of the AirPort (and computer) or that Apple devices can sometimes present a challenge, as opposed to a PC environment. At any rate, I did get it set up and working, so all’s well.

While i wasn’t expecting the rated speeds, am getting more than 50Mbps in my garage (home wifi couldn’t reach there). The total distance of electric wires from source adapter to garage adapter is at least 100ft.

More than adequate for what i need.

I used this product to connect a 4K Lorex camera to the NVR. In my case I had runs of different lengths. It would not work in all runs. The limiting factor seem to be distance. About fifty yards seems to be the max distance it would work for me.

I am pleased with the device. I only used one set. Not sure if two or more sets would degradate the performance of each other.

Comtrend powerline is reliable. I searched and researched before making a purchase. I had other powerlines too, but not up to 1200Mbps This is more powerful and easy to set up, just plug and play. So far, internet connection is solid.

Just plug them in and forget them.

I ordered the hue gamer bundle before Christmas and it was missing the hue bridge. Now I contacted customer service and they said you had because it has been 30 days they will not help me. I ended up buying one locally from Best buy and I have the receipt that matches the serial number for the one that I’m using.

Hue performance is okay but not perfect which it should be for the price. For example we are trying to change color temperature throughout the day and night. But if we turn the bathroom light off it comes back at 6500k even if it is at evening or night.

I checked and the bulbs are set to go the last used which should be 2000-3300k at that point.

I see complaints that make no sense. It takes some brain power to use technology. I have both versions of Hue products (wifi only/bluetooth +) and if you read the directions if needed. all will be revealed.

The hue hub is a router of sorts so of course it wont be wireless but you could add a device to it to do so but it would make it lag. Hue isnt perfect as is nothing including Apple. To each their own but Hue is fun to play with.

Technology requires tinkering around. Always you can be better but Hue is cool and fun to play with. If your a windows user you can handle it.

I understand the thought behind requiring ethernet be run to the bridge because many people run Hue bulbs as their normal house lights and need to be able to run them when the internet is out. But I will only use it for the light strip and running hardwire to the bridge is inconvenient.

I require ethernet for work from home and had to buy an ethernet switch and an additional cable to connect the bridge. It should have the option to be run wirelessly with a warning that without a wired connection, you will not be able to control lights when the wi-fi is down.

Also, I believe the Sync box requires wi-fi anyway so I don’t believe the bridge would work for me without wi-fi anyway. Only purchased because it’s necessary to connect the strip and box. Does not serve any other notable purpose for my situation so overall it’s an inconvenience at the price.

Easy to setup especially using OneMesh which connects the extender effortlessly to the wireless router. The Tether app from TP-Link allows easy monitoring and changes to the setup…if you feel it necessary.

More devices can now connect at high speed to the internet. Great buy.

This one extender has replaced two of the el cheapo repeaters. It has a great range and the signal is strong and consistent. It’s easy to set up and has neat set up features, like on/off timer for the lights and power saving options.

Everything works seamlessly now, from the lounge to the garden work shed. Very happy :).

Getting good speeds and range! Key is to setup properly through MyTether app. No issues. The thing is quite bulky so in a normal home wall socket frame it may take over lapping space on other plug which can be awkward with the other cable so I am using double plug to get away from this but overall money well spent.

I purchased the Netgear AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 router (RAX10) because my old Spectrum router was slow and had horrible coverage. My security cameras were constantly losing signal and needed to be reset at least three times a week! It kinda defeats the purpose of a security system if it is constantly going out.

The AX1800 was easy to install and get set up, the NIGHTHAWK app is awesome! It allows you to test your speed, see who is connected to your network, pause/block connections as well as allowing you to have your own guest WiFi network, set up smart parental controls, and check your network traffic! The additional Armor/ Bitdefender security keeps all of my family’s important info private and secure.

Like it should be! Having this much peace of mind at such little cost was a no brainer.

The router needs to be rebooted no less than once a day. No logging of any clue as to why it froze. Both the nighthawk app and the online webpage look juvenile to say the least. Web page is disorganized and it is hard to find what your looking for due to the fact that they use non-standard networking terms in the menus.

Both app and web page do not correctly query the network for actual status of devices so things like my switches show as offline even though they are not and I can reach their web pages. QOS is pointless because it thinks my switches are offline so I can’t set them at highest priority.

Setting dhcp reservations also a pain because it doesn’t show devices that are online because it hasn’t scanned the network. Can’t believe this one passed any sort of peer review, definitely below past Netgear quality.

Not a happy customer.

I bought this setup a couple of weeks ago because of the Ethernet ports on the satellite and dedicated backhaul between Satellite and Router. I really only have 2 complaints with the product and performance.

1. Lack of Parental Controls. I have kids and the Mesh setup means they get Access at ALL times, and to ANY site. If you want to be able to limit specific devices on bandwidth or time or site, like other Netgear products, you will be unhappy.

2. No ability to force a device to a closer connection. In most cases, the mesh works very well and everything is fast. That being said, I have a couple of devices (my work computer is the biggest headache) that insist they need to connect to the farthest unit possible at 5Ghz speeds, even if the devices are stationary.

If I could force my work laptop to lock into the router, since it is closest, I would be a happy camper. but instead I am being forced to buy another $300 satellite to get the ethernet connection to keep a stable connection.

which is just stupid. Other than those 2 “issues”, I am extremely happy with the product. The Builder for our new house decided that the coax for internet needed to come into the house in the VERY center, inside a closet and no other places would have coax connections.

Because of this, the dedicated ethernet ports on the Satellite meant that I could put the router next to the modem in the closet and connect a switch to the satellite upstairs in the game room. The dedicated 5Ghz-2 connection means that the connection stability is awesome, and very fast for every device in the game room.

which is MUCH better than I ave experienced with range extenders and other APs.

I bought this unit and set it up but it not sent the wifi signal upstairs after I plugged it in and syncronized it. I read in the directions that both boxes had to be plugged into the same circuit. In the USA, you have two hot wires and one neutral wire coming from the power lines outside.

In my case, I have a transformer about 300′ from my house that powers my house. Let just label the two hot wires A&B and the neutral C. The TP-Link downstairs was connected to line A and the remote box upstairs was powered from an outlet which got its power from line B.

In that situation the TP-link box was sending a signal about 300′ to and 300′ back to my house which did not work. I opened my panel box and moved the electrical breaker down or up just one slot so both the upstairs bedroom outlet and the office downstairs outlet are both connected to line B.

The wifi signal after that was perfect. I am glad I figured out what the problem was before I sent the unit back. If you don’t feel safe switching breakers in the panel box, have an electrician do it.

A simple way to tell if you are having the same problem is to run an extension cord from the same outlet downstairs that your TP-Link is using to the remote TP-Link box upstairs. Make sure it is plugged in and try it.

If that fixed the problem you need to switch a breaker in your electrical panel box. My 2 cents.

Pros: Does what it says on the tin at a very reasonable price. Obviously you won’t get lightning fast speed as it’s not the latest wireless technology but for most needs it’s a cheap and easy solution.

I mainly use it to run an ethernet IP CCTV camera in the garage but it gives a handy WiFi connection out there too. Setup was probably 1 of the easiest I’ve done on my home network. Think I pushed 1 or 2 buttons and it copied my WiFi SSID (Wifi name) and password so all devices I have can automatically connect to it.

Cons: Nothing really. Faster speed and range would be nice but that’s why this is a cheaper product. For the money it’s excellent.
