The Deeper Pro + does what it says and it does it well! It works for me flawlessly and as advertised! Just remember to follow all of the provided or downloaded instructions and you will be good. I found that the provided manual is tough to read with its very small print.

Ive been using the Pro+ CHRIP for almost a year on ice, boat and shore. Its incredible how reliable and accurate the sonar is. Ive compared this to Helix 5 and its just as good in terms of accuracy. The battery lasts at least 4-5 hours, which is pretty good considering how small this unit is.

I just bring a battery pack and charge it up when it dies. I have a really good battery pack and it gets the deeper fully charged in about 30min which is pretty good for another 4 hours of fishing. Only downside is using from a boat as it sits on top of the water and the waves can make it hard to get a good readout.

I recently bought the boat mount and will see how much of a difference that makes, but when on boat with big waves just use the widest beam and it will give a better read. Great unit, well worth the money.

This little sonar is awesome. The app is cool too, my husband used this and came home with a big smile on his face. Easy to set up, the app is simple yet full of really good stuff. Nice quality and works amazing.

I have a fish finder but this is so easy to pack in, super light.

Bought this primarily for ice fishing after a fishing trip with a friend who had one and it is incredible! The ability to test depths for ice fishing is so easy with a unit that can fit in your pocket.

This unit also has the multiple features for lake mode which lets you map the bottom as well plus the fact that it records your sonar screens for you is another added bonus. Just awaiting the boat mount for it and going to have it out scanning all the lakes here in the Yukon!.

Ive had not had the opportunity to use this yet, but by looking at the reviews its going to help me catch more fish

LMC shop shipped me this garmin panoptix unit with a DEAD 12v battery (voltage ~9. 3 V). I talked to garmin customer service, who was great, and confirmed that the battery was bad. LMC shop WILL NOT ANSWER my several emails regarding this.

I just want a new battery or partial refund for the cost, and they are totally nonresponsive even after several weeks. WHAT A GARBAGE STORE!.

Without a doubt the best sonar unit Ive ever owned. A game changer, Ive had lowrance, marcum, vexilar, and humminbird and the Garmin is by far the best. Ive had humminbird anf lowrance on my ranger bass boat and last year installed a Garmin echomap and blows all other units out of the water.

I know theses Sonars are expensive but save your money or get a payment plan because its worth every penny. You will NOT be disappointed.

First, installation was a bit of a pain but it ended up great. I power it with a 20V 2ah DeWalt battery and it works just fine even if they do not recommand it. Lasts about 8 hours. I was not gonna carry a super heavy lead-acid battery in a kayak that is already loaded with camping gear.

Being that I do a lot of kayak camping-fishing trips on large water bodies having a GPS/tracker was a must for me. Just got back from a trip and that feature has been great for not getting lost in difficult situations.

The user frendliness reminded me of an old Garmin GPS, not great. Far from Google map. Menus are a little difficult to get used to but. Contour mapping is nice. Sonar is great and powerfull. Could follow my jig all the way down 150′ of water easy.

So far Clearview has been useless. You can not see any fishes on that mode. Wich is the point of a ”fish finder”. Split screen is awesome. Another con is that when you need to bring it inside your house to add waypoints or else you will need an extra power cord at $50, Ouch! So all in all it is very good but I could have done without the extra cost of CV.

I installed this on my 13 foot boat for Gulf coast creeks and shallow water fishing. The chart for this device is like a blank sheet of paper, it does not have land, water or navigation markers. The only information the chart will display is where you have been, the depth contours that your device recorded or from the Garmin Active Captain application which shares depth contours from other users.

I use my cellphone apps such as Google Maps and Navionics for the big picture if I am in unfamiliar areas. Depth and voltage alarms are very handy. The fish-finder display options are as detailed as most inshore fishing could require.

The screen size is the smallest I would use on any boat, easy to see and interpret at a glance while moving. Very satisfied.

I have a small 12’ rowboat and this is my first ever fish finder. Mounted this unit on an ammo can and the transponder on the trolling motor. Would be nice if it had the option to add a battery to make this a package.

I’ve had the unit on the water for a total of about five hours. Improved instructions and the ability to have a tutorial mode to learn the unit before I hit the water would be helpful. The unit is pretty user intuitive once you spend the time to get familiar with where things are located.

It took me about 20 minutes to get the QuickDraw contours feature to work. Deepest water I was in was about 20feet. I could easily follow my jig, as I raised and lowered it, on the screen. The one thing I did notice is that the lake I was on has two small islands, larger of the two would be approximately 20’ x 40’, while using the quick draw feature it did not show a land mass or show a blank area on the map.

The islands are nonexistent and on the display are really under two feet of water even though I could beach my boat and have a picnic without getting soggy sandwiches. The screen was easily viewed with a straight on look giving it the best brightest clear view.

From the side the screen seemed dull. The cord on the transducer is about 20’ long while the power cord is only 3’. This isn’t a big deal for me since I’ve got the battery in and unit mounted on an ammo box.

Just thought it was worth mentioning. Mounting the transponder on the back of my little rowboat would not work due to the riveted seam sticking out. If it were shimmed out with treated plywood I could have probably made it work but then the transponder would be permanently mounted on the boat with the wire exposed to all Mother Nature fury.

My boat is parked outside. Overall this unit is exactly what I expected to get. I still need to play around with it and continue to understand all the features and options it can do to improve my fishing trips but I’m pretty satisfied and would definitely buy it again.

What would make this a five star review would be: the addition of a small tube of marine chalk for transom mounting of the transponder. Longer power cord Battery option package Case option like the striker cv4 package Better instructions Tutorial mode.

It’s a hybrid of a Echomap series and GPS series chartplotter with the best sonar compatible features and has a large UHD screen with more pixels then the 9 inch echo maps for greater detail in maps and sonar returns.

Right away you can tell it’s a heavier duty build than the 7 and 9 series Echomap. This unit will not record livescope thru active Captain so beware if you think it’s the ultimate sonar machine. The LVS12 port is additional feature for live sonar but beware had had bad reviews and less popular than the LVS32 and don’t know if a LVS 12 data can be shared to a 93 unit I know my 93 unit has a LVS 12 simulation so why can’t it share LVS 12 data if the ultra does the software translation to the network.

I know Garmin could update software to allow better networking and sonar recording features but opt not to for marketing strategy and older Echomap plus is discontinued and updates have stopped so you can’t even get the new vivid colors I have though many picky comments for being invested into the Echomap series over $4000.

00 and you do find limits for your hardware and it’s software too. they will always be coming out with faster bigger and better units with improved performance so to get units on clearance is the only way I purchase my echomaps and good prices with free shipping and a gift card plus a promo is how to get the most amazing deals on this unit.

I recommend only buying the Echomap series on clearance because they are always onsale from a latest model coming out. The 93plus sv met all expectations for a live image sonar unit so the 106sv is a huge upgrade can’t wait to get my hands on a GT56 and look at those new color pallets and pray someday Garmin figures out how to live sonar record on the app for as on their GPS xsv series plotters.

So is it recommend for the professional angler yes it is ,for the you tuber wanting to record livescope no it’s not unless you go pro it up close. Clearance priced echo maps and free shipping is huge savings and the echo map series I have bought all my units for amazing cheap deals for the best live sonar and user friendly menus I have ever seen.

The force trolling compatible controls is one of the units best features for chartplotting a course and really does out more fish in the boat giving you more time to fish instead of driving. I was amazed at pre programming a course and the turns and really just sit back and fish while the Garmin networked Echomap does everything you would want in a Sonar/GPS navigation system.

Not recommend for ice fishing the power consumption is high and will chew thru batteries because all the processing features but could be used if increased the battery AH to accommodate the draw. Dual memory cards for mapping and memory.

Can see the faster map processing for sure zooming in and out with a 10hz receiver compared to the 5hz in the 7 and 9 series. 2 network ports can host a variety of networking options for other echomaps or panoptix transducers.

Only thing though my lake is not available on this and my first Echomap it was with lake vu us lakes You would think ultra maps would only improve a lakes detail. Not enough customer service on mapping and the Echomap support doesn’t clarify mapping.

4 screen split is a new option.

Fantastic unit, exceptional clarity/accuracy and works as it should. If you bought it boxing day you got a heck of a deal. I find It comedic that people are reviewing this badly. Considering the fact that if Cabela’s doesn’t have in stock how is that a reflection of the quality of the unit if anything that states really good as they can’t keep it in stock.

The other review with the gentleman complaining about how Manitoba Lakes aren’t there maybe should have read what was included in the map coverage so he knew ahead of time. Also, none of the Inland maps in any of the NavTronics or overly great.

You are way better off to use the mapping feature in this unit to make a more accurate underwater maps. That is also not specific to this unit, but any unit. Moral of the story is do your research before you buy any fish finder.

But if you are going to buy one, this is a good one.

I bought this 93SV with the GT56 transducer a couple of months ago to replace my broken Humminbird Onix. The Onix was HB’s top of the line model when I bought it, and worked well for me for many years.

The Garmin does have better side and down imaging, but I do not like the user interface as much as the HB. It is often confusing and not intuitive. HB does a much better job there, IMO. I also miss the ability to split the screen in 4 parts (3 is the max on the 93SV) so I can have Nav, down, side and 2d all on one screen.

I’ll get used to it over time, I’m sure. But it was not the big step up in tech I was thinking it would be. I’m glad I didn’t update just to update. I’m not sure the value would have been there from the Onix.

I purchased this unit for its large screen as my eyesight has been declining. I really like that part. I also knew from the start that the units auto-plot capabilities would require purchasing the upgraded maps.

This is an important feature in my opinion. Some things about this unit are very disappointing. Garmin brags about the ‘free’ ActiveCaptain app that they provide with this, however I found that it has very poor map and charting capability by itself.

I had wanted to use the app for pre-planning my outing, but it was of no real use for that. Garmin points to the extra cost Navionics app for better capability. I tried Navionics free trial and found that I could create a route there, then transfer to ActiveCaptain, and then finally transfer to the Chartplotter.

Very klunky way to get the job done. And, after paying significant money for the Chartplotter, I really don’t like the idea of paying an additional subscription for Navionics. This really hurts my satisfaction with the whole package.

Another failure is that while the chartplotter has wifi capability, it insists on being the hub, so you cannot connect to your home wifi and upload routes from your living room (again, I like to preplan my outings and I really didn’t want to sit in the boat to accomplish this).

My desire is that once I get on the water, I am just following the routes I had planned for the day, overriding only if scomething else grabs my attention. Finally, Navionics would be great if I could run it on my laptop and then upload remotely to the chartplotter.

But, there is no laptop version. Remember, I’m somewhat eyesight challenged so large screens are important. Pls make the chartplotter internet-connected rather than just wifi-connected, so I can work on my routes or updating software from anywhere.

My thermostat can do it, so my expensive chartplotter needs to catch up on that level of technology. It is behind the times in this respect.

I looked at several fish finder / chart plotter combos. This had the most features I was looking for. I like Garmin anyway. It was pretty easy to install and set up. There were only a couple of issues.

First, there are numerous expandable features, but it was difficult to determine what features are installed on this specific unit. Associated with that was the manual. It mentions all the features, but adds (if equipped).

This made things complicated, especially for someone new to fish finders / chart plotters. Lastly, was the Clear Vu screen is not as clear as the sample shows. I’ve tried adjusting contrast and brightness, but it is still too dark.

I compared the fish finding feature with an older fish finder and was amazed at the extreme close comparison. So far, I have enjoyed the Garmin, but it will take time to learn how to use it effectively.

My wife and I agree it is a learning curve and this gives us both something to grow into. I would recommend this product, but caution you to examine all the features and what comes with the specific unit.

The transducer will make the difference. Take time to see which transducer fits what you want and buy the full unit accordingly.

I’m only gonna write about the GPS side coz I’m not using the Sonar features or the transducer. For me, this is a standalone GPS only. On the plus side, its compatible with the Garmin Vision HD maps with relief shading.

Even if you don’t upgrade to HD maps, the pre-loaded Navionics basemap has fantastic detail. The 65CV is easy to setup and transfer waypoints thru Active Captain. Super user friendly and mega easy interface to get your head around.

I have an NMEA 2000 Lowrance Point 1 GPS antenna and this Garmin unit connected up to that antenna via the NMEA 2000 network and is 100% compatible. That said, I wish i had the $$$ to buy the 7″ or 9″ UHD versions because of one very annoying reason.

Here’s the reason which I discovered when it was too late, after purchase: The power connector cable and NMEA 2000 connector cable on the 65CV are plug in cables that are supposed to be held in position by a really clunky slot in locking plate.

This is a loose accessory. The 7″ and 9″ UHD models use a much more reliable connection (commonly used by most other brands too) that plugs in and then gets locked off with a threaded locking ring. Because I pull my electronics off my boat after every trip and use a home made flush mount, the connector plugs on my 65CV are a big problem for my particular usage because of wear and tear that I put on my cables and my inability to lock them off and remove the lock easily on the fly.

If your unit is nearly always mounted onboard, the UHD 65CV connector system will be fine. Seriously, it won’t be a problem – I have very specific needs and I never expected the UHD 65 cables to be different from the 7″ and 9″ model.

The way cables plug in isn’t something a person would typically research beforehand. That said, I believe Garmin offer the best marine GPS products because I love the user friendly way they function, the mobile accessibility and the ease of customising the stuff you see on screen.

Great item for the price but I’d love to upgrade to a big screen Garmin.

Have a season’s worth of use now. This unit is pretty good with what I would say are only a couple of ‘faults. ‘ Good part in my mind is the intuitive, relatively simple use and setup. I think that is typical of Garmin products.

One suggestion, read everything about the unit. Who ever reads instructions? Ran into an issue when my boat batteries gave up the ghost. Here’s what happened. My boat instruments showed the batteries were dying and the Garmin stopped working, That was because the voltage I guess got too low.

Motor still cranked but electronics did not like the lowered voltage. So, once the batteries were replaced, had issue with the Garmin. Nothing really wrong but who knew the screen went to lowest brightness setting, I guess as a response to the battery voltage.

Had I read all the info, I would have known how to restore the brightness when you can’t see the screen to set the brightness. And the sonar shuts itself off. No big deal but you got to go turn it on again in the settings.

Again, not a big deal but maybe Garmin ought to have big red warnings, or the owner ought to read the manual. Overall, that’s about the only issues I had. Presentation is nice, controls are fairly intuitive, if maybe way too much for a not too serious used like me.

Having called Garmin for support, it was excellent.

Intalled on our Boston Whaler center console last winter and have used all of this season. Installation was very straightforward. Saw other reviews that felt the transducer wire was too short. Not an issue on our boat.

Still learning all the different features. Unit is very easy to operate, even in sporty conditions. Nice and bright–easy to see the display. Even tells you when you have an incoming cellphone call–great when you can’t hear your phone ringing.

Downloading updates via cellphone and app are very, very slow. Sometimes taking nearly an hour. The updates do work very well and load without an issue–but last update took nearly an hour to transfer from iphone over to chartplotter unit.

Would buy it again if I trade in this boat. Only remaining project for this winter is to connect and network it with our VHF radio.

I’ve owned the striker 5 ice fishing bundle for one year now and use it year round (using a separate transducer during the summer). I’m thankful that I did my research and compared all the different units before buying this.

It saved me a lot of money for a boatload of features that cost way more money with other brands. -quickdraw mapping with something like 2M hectars of storage space (this is only in the summer) -a basic GPS for saving tracks and waypoints -you can run the flasher and split the screen with another feature (for that matter you can separate the screen with up to 3 different settings) I often use the flasher and tradition sonar together while icefishing -the battery lasts me multiple trips onto the water, I’m never worried about it losing power and if I do stretch its life a little far I just turn down the brightness and that adds another hour or more.

-the case is rugged -it has CV so thats an added bonus if you use this unit during the summer DOWNSIDES -you cant upgrade the GPS to have maps -you cant download any software so it could support SV This is the unit to buy if you’re on a budget.

Summer and winter, this thing goes with me on every outing.

UPDATE: I tried to update my previous 5 star review but it wouldn’t let me. I’m updating to 3 stars because following installation I discovered that GPS feature does not come with any maps/charts nor can any be uploaded.

Very disappointing. 7SV will generate its own maps and waypoints can be set but there is no land reference on the screen. Why it is designed this way I do not know. I would return it for a different model but by the time I installed it, it was too late to return.

Other than no maps, the 7SV works fine. IE: The GPS pic (lower left on screen) is what it actually looks like in real life. Make sure you read all the details and know what you are getting prior to ordering any of the SV models.

Really like this. Super easy to setup. Great at picking out features and mapping out a swim/water however, not sure I’ll use the fish locator icon as it informed me there are fish in my water but, been fishing it for three days but not caught anything!.

Amazing great product, very small remarkable battery life. Tried it on the beach in pinpoints fish easy to connect with your phone or tablet. Superb performance gives details of depth, fish and easy to carry.

When you first cast it out it will start sending data until you reel it in a several feet. Then it says no connection reconnect? I thought I did. Then I gets a email saying they know how bad the software is and theyre bring back a older version on the end of October to use? $300 for all this fun.

Easy to use and even easier to install! Accurate, clear and detailed imaging. I use a large Android tablet installed with Navionics. Turn on WiFi, connect and open the app and there it is, sonar! Split screen plotter and sonar or minimise sonar to just show depth.

Shallow water alarm! My sail boat was was already provisioned with a water filled box to install transponder internally. I tested first by just hanging the transponder over the side and comparing the image to internal mounting and the clarity and accuracy was the same.

The loss of water temperature reading just means it’s going to be slightly inaccurate. It will measure the temperature of the hull rather than the water. It’s the best way to get sonar on a boat. Tablets have bright high resolution screens and you can control it with a Bluetooth mouse.

you can’t do that with any of the comparable chat plotter sonar combos from Raymarine, Lowrance etc.

Ive set this up in hull and linked to Navionics on my iPad. I used butyl putty to stick it to the inside of the hull. The whole set up from the box to working took less than 20 mins. Ive run it for 18 hours with no problems.

Nvionics allows you to update to live charts, very useful with the shifting sands at Chichester harbour. I didnt purchase this as a fish finder and havent tried to use it as one, but as a depth sounder its proved accurate and easy to use.

The Wi-fi signal was good all over my 11m grp yacht. Im happy with this purchase, and worth noting that purchasing from the states was best value. Those advertised cheaper in the uk were all out of stock.

Made up a test model boat to test and learn how to get it to work – Spent an hour on a small local river with the model tethered on a fishing line. I still am playing with settings to find best display results – 3ft of water showed weeded bottom and several fish on first try.

I need to get some more time to learn how to tune to get best display for different conditions. Next stage is to fit to my fishing boat but that’s about 6 weeks away – I also plan to use a mapping app to make my own charts.

Technical help and advice from Vexilar and Navionics has been brilliant I recommend this product for quality and support received.

Just recently received my unit and being completely terrified to start the learning process. I’m 67 and like most my age technically challenged ,I did spend time learning on YouTube doing the best I can to prepare and highly recommend doing the same.

Well Geezers Fear Not! I took my time programming in the driveway and glad I did. I fish tidal creeks for bass and speckled trout through the winter creeks and they are pretty narrow so Side Imaging was my main interest.

I set everything for a 15’max and 50′ wide and proceeded to the river. The detail with Mega Imaging was incredible and as I made my way down the creek in total amazement. I came to the last bend in the creek and notice many shadows on SI just like the manual could it be? Yes, I turned around to fish into the current and proceeded to catch 15 trout in the next half hour.

To say I was excited is the understatement of the year. I have always been envious of the bass pro’s and didn’t realize that it was now within reach for the average guy. I realize I have a pretty narrow focus of use but have already using a lot of other features and expanding my knowledge and it is awesome.

I recently talked to a guy that has a Mega 360 and has never seen a fish on it, he said I never adjusted anything. Take you time and tweak!.

Great unit for the sale price I found. Works great for my 16ft. Did change out the transducer for the trolling motor mount very easy through Humminbird. Easy to install, set up and makes it much easier to find structure and drop offs with side scan and crisp down imaging at the bow.

I have not been able to get GPS to work yet need to go back and look at that. But I have a Lowrance hook triple shot on the transom and it works about the same image quality but the Hummingbird performs way better in shallow water.

They are better units for bass fishermen in my situation that fish shallow more often. Would buy again but get the 9in for a bit more real estate.

My first fishfinder was a simple Humminbird Piranha. Did the job, but I wanted more. Got a great deal on a different maker’s 7 inch top of the line. Big mistake. Never worked properly. Terrible, incomprehensible manual.

A lemon. Dumped it for a Helix 7 MSI G4. WOW! What a difference. Way better than the other fishfinder. Incredible sonar. The Summary Guide got me started quickly, and the simulations are terrific. Easy to set up and easy to use.

Wish I had stuck with Humminbird all along.

So I bought this to upgrade a garmin that was just regular sonar, down imagining, and gps. I wanted side imaging and something that could link with my terrova. Well it can link with the trolling motor and does have side imaging, so that was an upgrade.

But the garmin was way easier to figure out, program, and select between screen layouts. The side imaging on this unit isn’t that great it isn’t capable of using high frequency rates for clearer side imaging.

The garmin came with basic maps already in it, this one I have to buy expensive cards. Changing between screen layouts is a pain on this compared to the garmin. When you unplug it and remove it from the boat it never remembers what screen you were on, or what settings you had for sonar/side imaging.

Similar money will get you a better garmin or lowrance unit. Oh yeah the power cable plug is pretty crappy, it gets finicky after being the weather much, and unplugged/plugged in much. The bluetooth feature is pretty stupid, what would be handier is if you could display the fish finder screen on a smart device.

It works, but so far I’m not impressed with humminbird. At some point this may just get moved up front as the trolling motor finder, and I may go back to garmin for my main finder at the back. I’d say if you go with humminbird spend the extra for a unit with mega side imaging, no matter how I adjust this one it never gives that clear of an image.

Bought mine back in Feb 2022 to use on the kayak but couldn’t use till nearly 6 months later due to a problem getting the waterproof thru-hull cable plugs I initially wanted/ordered. (For fellow kayakers out there – the Hobie ones are almost impossible to get atm so I went for the Wilderness Systems ones – less than a week shipping from Amazon Australia.

Just use plenty of Sika marine sealant to get an even better seal). These units are great out-of-the-box to just plug in & start using but it pays to do your homework to get the most out of them if you’ve never used a fishfinder before, Now I’ve done that, watched many tutorials & tested it out on the water a bunch of times I’m pretty stoked with it.

Compared to other brands there’s a lot of bang for buck here. Not really using sidescan as much as I thought but that may come into its own later. By all accounts after you tweak the settings to your liking the downscan is comparable to more expensive models & using the fish reveal feature with it certainly highlights fish & structure very well.

Being able to add the clock/time to the display is one simple feature I personally love. Added tips for kayakers – get a 12v regulator between the battery & fishfinder as the unit can shut off when battery power goes below 11-11.

5v – well before your battery is out of juice. Also use the Standby feature as much as possible when not scanning to prolong battery life.

I was unsure about purchasing an entry-model Lowrance unit, as I’ve been very happy with my high-quality Garmin and Humminbird products. After a Garmin unit died due to old age, rather than repairing it I spent a similar amount on the 9 inch version of this sounder.

I’m happy I did, as the base model of this unit in a 9 inch screen, shows me far more detail than my previous premium Garmin 7 inch unit. Technology has dramatically improved and with the 9 inch screen, I’d struggle to justify spending more on a sounder for my yak.

The larger screen makes split screen views truly useful, whereas on the smaller screen you never really got a good view of anything when the screen was divided. My first expedition was in horrible weather, so the yak was smashing through heavy chop.

Despite that, the sidescan view was amazing, showing every little bump in the sand. I have to say I’m impressed, despite my initial reservations.

I’ve only been out with the Hook Reveal 7 twice now, first time the sounder wasn’t working – the GPS/ maps part was OK but transducer wasn’t working – advice in BCF shop suggested to default the unit.

I did this, and all was OK next time out. I’ve only had one sounder before this one coincidentally a Lowrance (Elite 4), which was already fitted to previous boat. When I was looking at sounders for new boat, the display BCF had in store was excellent.

I didn’t find anywhere else that had such a good display of sounders. When I was in store there was a staff member there who knew sounders very well. My reason for buying this sounder was first my new boat was already fitted with Lowrance transducer, plus I was happy with the other Lowrance I had, but that one didn’t have maps.

Originally the boat dealer was going to provide a 5″ Lowrance head unit, but when I mentioned I was interested to have maps, they suggested the bigger screen of 7″ unit would be much better visually.

This made perfect sense, so I was happy to go with the bigger unit. The dealer didn’t have a 7″ unit readily available and suggested I look at BCF to see the differences in screen sizes. I bought the 7″ Combo unit from BCF, which the boat dealer fitted.

Not being a fishing guy I can’t advise on how good this unit is for fish finding, I can say the maps looks good, the 7″ screen is good and fine in direct sun light. One thing I recall my Elite 4 did was allow bigger character size on screen for depth etc, where as this one with bigger screen surprisingly the character size choice I think is small and medium only, whereas the Elite had large font size as well.

On price I did compare elsewhere but didn’t find cheaper elsewhere. I’m happy to recommend this this unit, and also buying it from BCF, and also suggest checking out BCF for the excellent Sounder display they have (I bought from Caloundra store).

First off, finding any unit these days is difficult at best. Everyone is buying boats and the pandemic and all. I was lucky to find this as a former display model at a fantastic price. My old 917C died (mostly my fault), and I really liked that one for all the features it had (Navionics built in was a big plus).

This Helix 8 is a suitable replacement model. It is familiar to use, but I’m still figuring out some of the screen settings, the menu is expanded from previous generations. I wish I could have re-used my old transducer, but alas, this is the newer technology.

The old power cable worked, cutting down installation time a bit. The bigger screen is nice, but harder to keep clean. Keep a good screen cleaning cloth on board! The information presented on the screens is as good as before.

Again, this unit is familiar and works well. The one star removed (4/5) is for no protective cover. The older units at least came with that white plastic shell to cover them. Some other brands include them.

Give us something at least.

Since it is Febuary I haven’t had the opportunity to have it in the water yet but after installing it and setting it up it looks pretty good. The plastic tie wrap that comes with it to mount the transducer to the trolling motor broke trying to get it tight which is a poor way to mount it.

Other units I have purchased included a screw type hose clamp to do this which is a much better method. It is secure and eliminates the tie wrap problem. Installation was pretty simple except for trying to get the cords plugged into the back of the fish finder.

The holes need to be bigger to eliminate this. I saw other reviews that confirms other customers have also had this issue. I used a razor blade type utility knife to trim a small amount of rubber from the end of the cords and it is know not a problem.

I purchased it online from Walmart and it was delivered ahead of schedule. I mounted and adjusted it per instructions and it worked good I installed the Transducer per instructions for aluminum boat and it works up to speeds of 30 mph.

Some times in a turn or if I trim the motor up too much it will loose signal but otherwise it works great. I probably could readjust the transducer and fix that but it is ok for me as it is. and that is top speed for my boat.

I really like the unit the more I use it the better I like it. The menus are easy to move through. Only thing I don’t like is the way the power and transducer cables connect from the quick release bracket to the unit.

If you don’t press and wiggle the cables some times they don’t make connection when you put it back into the mount bracket. I don’t plan on removing it so this won’t be too much of an issue for me. this is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 Stars.

I bought a Garmin Echo 301 from these people, but before I bought it I asked if it had the speed sensor and was told it did. After I received the locator and I begin putting it together I found out it did NOT have the speed sensor in the box.

I emailed them and they said they told me it has a speed sensor. Evidently they either don’t understand English or are out to make a fast buck by lying to you. On the positive side the locator works fine, and it is just what I was looking for even though I will now need to spend another $40.

00 for a speed sensor. I will never order from these people again, nor will I recommend them to anyone.

Upgraded my HDI 7 Elite to this TI2 12”. Screen size and features are fantastic, and the price is too good to pass up. Touchscreen capability is a huge step up when you are used to button entries for everything on my older unit.

My complaint is they make it sound like the CMaps are loaded, but the maps preloaded are very very poor, so you will have to buy the yearly CMap subscription to get the quality maps they will show online.

I already had Navionics map cards so i just continue to use those.

Do not buy this. I’ve never hated a product so much. I have never left a review on anything, but I am MAD. Unit crashes all the time. Touch screen is incredibly awful. It either doesn’t register or registers something an inch away on the screen.

Try typing in a WiFi password to do the software updates! Or having to constantly do software restores when the settings menu button is located between standby and power off, good luck not turning it off accidentally.

So frustrating. I don’t know why I haven’t sent this unit to the bottom of the lake. I’ve done all the software updates, configured settings, checked wiring, grounding etc. I’ve had other Lowrance units in the past and wanted this so it would work with my Motorguide Xi3.

Spent $300 on NMEA wiring on top of the $850 for the Ti2 with maps and transducer and it’s so bad that I don’t even use it! Don’t know how they can say these work together. Doesn’t recognize autopilot half the time.

Sends you in circles when trying to autopilot route of waypoints. Sonor is spotty and fairly useless. The charts are the only usable feature until you touch the screen and have to hit the “clear cursor” button in the top right corner, which is impossible, and so the screen gets stuck forcing you to power unit off and then go through the miserable warning screen again.

Extremely fed up. I’ve contacted Lowrance without any response yet, and they will have to sweep me off my feet at this point to convince me to ever buy another Lowrance product.

Elite-Ti Series of Units I have used an Elite-Ti 12 unit since last year, and wow is all I can say. These units are initially advertised as a unit with high end features at an economical price. For a touchscreen unit with all the bells and whistles of GPS, SideScan, DownScan, and sonar, most of the time an economically priced unit worth having is out of the question.

Not for these units. I grew up on the Tennessee river chain fishing the infamous Kentucky Lake the most, along with Pickwick, Guntersville, and other Tennessee lakes. For anyone that knows these lakes well summer time and ledge fishing go hand in hand with one another.

The term ledge fishing some say was born on Kentucky lake. Without a unit that has SideScan, summer time can be a very stingy time on these lakes. Since using these units and really learning the Side and DownScan features the numbers and quality of fish have skyrocketed for me.

Since I have been into the sport of bass fishing at a young age I always knew Lowrance was the choice of unit. My dad used Lowrance throughout his career so it has only suiting for me to do the same.

I fished for four years at the college level and used Lowrance units to help me understand new bodies of water, break them down, and be able to catch fish in less than a few hours from first seeing the lake for the first time.

Now that I am out of college and working full time I know more than ever how important a budget and saving money can be. I also know how tight money can get. We all have our hobbies and fishing just happens to be ours and the Elite-Ti series of units allow for a price that does not break the budget, but allows for all the same features as the pros.

The touchscreen has worked without fail and allows me to use the unit easier and be able to pinpoint certain schools of bass, or structures I think will hold bass. These units are by far the best I have ever put on my bass boat.

Whether I am fishing deep ledges on Kentucky Lake or looking for the edges of grass lines on Guntersville I know that this unit will continue to hold up and lead me to catching more and more fish. The new Chirp sonar is a very big go to of mine as well with this unit.

I love to use the sonar to find baitfish in the summer and fall and the chirp brings such a crisp image to the sonar screen like I have never seen before. For an angler that is economically concerned this is the best unit on the market by far.

Fair priced, simple to install and use, but with all the high end features of the HDS series of units.
