20 Best Wifi For Ps4 (2022 Updated)

First off, I’m not a techie. have enough back ground to build my own computers and navigate through most technical devices but far from an expert. I bought two of these. The first was as a router and the second as an access point.

Both were easy to setup without any issues. I ended up buying two because the router was placed in an office on the far side of the house in a wooden entertainment center. That effected the strength of the signal, so I opted to buy a second one.

I hardwired it running Cat 6 in the attic and dropped it down in the living room to create the access point (you can do it wirelessly as well but want to get the full signal strength to the living room).

I thought about buying a regular access point, but when you start comparing the data speed and number of bands, you basically end up spending $300 anyway and getting less data speed compared to using this as an access point.

Plus, by treating this as an access point, it gave me 8 LAN ports to hardwire all my devices in the living room, so I thought it was a better deal. Also, fyi, I recycled an old 10 year router at best buy for a 15% off coupon.

When this went on sell for $319, I used the 15% off and picked it up for $271. not a bad deal saving $78! I won’t get into all the data speed measurements as it varies on usage, but what I will say is by having two of these on opposite sides of the house, I get my full 5gz/2gz speed through most of the house.

I also love the fact you get the option of splitting the ssid between 5gz and 2gz or combining it into one as well as the access point uses the same ssid to be able to hand off when walking across the house.

I have only started to use the product but enjoy the ease of seeing which client devices are connected to your network, the data usage of each device, the ease of turning on 160mhz on the 5gz band, etc.

I still need to play with the guest network, parent controls, and other security features. The only drawback for me is it didn’t have WPA3 or a WAN that supported larger than 1G speed. But, I figured the WPA3 is just a security feature and the likely hood that I would ever get (and afford) over 1G of internet speed is highly unlikely in the near feature.

I think I saw Comcast offering 2G for almost $300 a month, ouch! Anyway, this router find my needs and both units have been working flawlessly since purchase.

I bought AX88U because I can’t stand for the random reboot from Netgear’s RAX120v2, which is otherwise a fantastic router. I used to own AC86U, so I was hoping AX88U to be a familiar, stable and highly customizable router.

It didn’t disappoint. Unlike RAX120v2, this is a full Wi-Fi 6 certified router. I believe RAX120v2 lacks “Target Wake Time,” so it isn’t Wi-Fi 6 certified. Though I do want to point out that RAX120v2 offers much better throughput and noticeably lower latency on both wired and wireless connections.

AX88U also lacks a 5G/2. 5G LAN/WAN connector. These were in fact the reasons I bought RAX120v2, but it’s simply too unstable to use. Imaging waiting minutes just for the router to reboot.

The Playstation 4 comes in different packages and sizes. I currently have the regular size playstation with the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 version. My Playstation has always treated me right. The features I love the most is the fact I can watch Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max and Disney Plus.

Expectations with the product is the fact that it will overtime start to overheat which is a problem. Also if you don’t have enough storage on it you will have to eventually delete other games, screenshots and videos to add a new one.

My time with the Playstation 4 it has always run well. I only started to have issues around September of this year. The problem I have with it is that it tends to “overheat” when I try to play a certain game.

Specifically the game Call of Duty Vanguard. Even when the game isn’t got at all they say I need to let it cool off within 3 seconds or it will turn off instantly. Other than that this game is perfectly fine.

The pros of the PlayStation 5 is the regulator upholds media playback with up to 4K goal, albeit the gaming is restricted to 1080p. You can tweak the regulator dependent on your necessities. Some outsider organizations permit you to buy the regulator that you’ve tweaked the shading plan for an additional expense.

The share button in the controller allows you to capture in-game video and take screenshots that can be shared with friends through the PlayStation network. To play online with others, you need to pay a $50 per year enrollment membership for PlayStation Plus.

PS3 permits clients to play online free of charge through the PlayStation organization. The underlying game library for PS4 is a ho-murmur issue. Aside from the Sony significant select games, PS4 houses games from different designers which are additionally accessible on different control center.

Hello! I’m looking to get the PS5 because it is an upgrade from the PS4 allows us to consume 4K graphics versus the PS4 slim which is only 1080p graphics. I got this PS4 slim uncharted 4 bundle edition and I have been using it almost daily for 5-6 years.

Even after years of daily usage it has not shown any problems or technical difficulties. Since it is only 500GB and I mostly download all my games instead of buying the disk, I needed to buy an extra hard drive to plug into the PS4 for more storage space in order to download a large variety of games without ever having to worry about running out of storage space.

I have dozens of games and I enjoy playing each and everyone of them. It is the slim edition so it is also perfect for travel and transport. I’m looking forwards to have the PS5 also because I want to try out the new adaptive triggers which give it fully immersive realistic experience with gameplay.

I play games like GTA 5 which is a open world game, NBA 2k22 which is a basketball game, Uncharted which is a adventure game that came with the PS4 bundle. Overall I would like to VOUCH for playstation and HIGHLY recommend this console due to its originality, great service in gaming, entertainment and much more! 5 stars for quality and versatility.

This is an okay console for gaming and exclusives but if you want a more stable experience the Xbox one x is more consistent when it comes to even basic things such as being able to connect to the internet.

This is my second PlayStation and it literally will not connect to my WiFi no matter how much I trouble shoot, change my DNS settings, attempt to set it up with WPS. This console is a serious frustration and let down when it comes to just connecting to the internet.

Unless you can hardline your PlayStation I probably wouldn’t recommend this console for online gaming, it’s quite terrible about randomly disconnecting even in those rare instances it works as it’s supposed to.

Sony seriously oversells this console and basically lies on their website about it being a 4K gaming console. It upscales to 4K with checkerboarding, which is hardly true 4K. If I could go back I’d save my money.

PlayStation is more and more subpar as the generations progress. Take for instance the PlayStation 5 consoles aren’t even all the same, some have a different number of fan blades causing some consoles to be way louder than others.

Pretty unacceptable from a corporation with the resources like Sony has. Pathetic console performance overall and sub par internet capabilities. Definitely not worth $400.

This is my 3rd ps4 and will be my last. Gets hot too fast like real fast. I’m on for an hour and it starts to freeze and this isn’t the only concern when it comes to the ps4. Every ps4 I’ve had has the same issue’s and I’ve spent way too much cash on Sony and it feels like this is a MONEY grab since I Keep having to get repairs and replacements for the PS4 and frankly it’s getting old.

let me get into the PS4 issue’s. Gets way too hot 🔥, freezes, crashes & doesn’t last long until it NEEDS replaced or repairs. Rest mode is a mess and downloading can cut off while in rest mode and the downloading and copying nonsince is 🐌 slow.

Like 16+ hour’s if your internet isn’t fast. the airflow clogs easily compared to my ps2 and xbox360 and the ps4 sounds like an airplane in turbulence. The storage gets corrupt easily if you have too many thing’s going on the ps4.

The warranty for the PS4 only lasts a short while and it doesn’t cover the majority of issue’s this console has and if you buy digital game’s don’t expect a refund after the 14 day time line. Why do console warranties only last a year is beyond me and most consoles need work after two years realistically.

it would be nice to have a 7 year warranty on these consoles because apparently their life span is supposed to be 7 years with my ps4s it’s been like 1 1/2 year’s until issues come up. I hardly play on my ps4 and I deeply regret buying this console and getting digial game’s That I can’t get money back for.

Before you buy any gaming systems do your homework. I sure didn’t know this was going to cost me so much for so little joy.

I purchased a PS4 PRO console at the beginning 2019. Its one of the best consoles I have owned, but when you have a mechanical or mainboard fault the pain begins. The Blu-Ray drive failed 11/02/2022.

I took the console to a local video console repairer in Brisbane after 2 weeks I found out that the PRO console of mine is unrepairable. This is due to a failure on a circuit board which is located in the Blu-Ray drive itself.

The issue is you can’t replace the Blue-Ray with a new one as there are also chips on the mainboard which only recognize the original Blue-Ray drive, so replacing it with a new drive won’t work as the console won’t detect the disks.

I basically have a $460 paperweight now. The only way in can be repaired is to completely replace the mainboard with a Blue-Ray that is a matched pair to the mainboard. I find it utterly ridiculous that you can’t replace the drive on the PS4 PRO with a new one.

I still have my original PlayStation console from 1996. I have had the drive and laser replaced a number of times over the years with no issue. This is nothing more that purposeful built-in redundancy to make the consumer throw the console in the bin and buy a new one.

I’ve gotten 2 Xbox one X from this 232 inc refurb-company. And they have been mint, and run very well (and quiet). Decided okay I’ll get a Pro since mine bit the dust a while back, it was a God Of War SE.

The top came off when I picked it up, it looked like my cats had been on top of it, scratched up horribly. It ran so loud I had to shut it off twice because I really thought it was going to just blow up.

The wireless didn’t work, and it just felt like a used piece of junk overall. Not saying they’re all like that, but they are older consoles. So I wasn’t surprised as they don’t sell the newer quieter models from about 2018 or so with the small plugs.

So be cautious if you get one, luckily you’re local Target will return it no problem.

I absolutely love my new Playstation 4 Pro. I used to play games when I was a child and then took a long break. As an adult now, I recently found myself with some free time and decided to look into gaming.

I watched a bunch of YouTube vides and honestly had mixed feelings. The graphics looked amazing but I wasn’t feeling the games from the videos. I realized I actually needed to play the games to see if I like them.

I researched a bunch of options including Google Stadia, a desktop PC, and XBox and settled on a Playstation 4 Pro since it works well with my 4K TV, has good reviews, is easy to set up, and has a huge user base.

I decided I’d do a 1 week trial and if I wasn’t feeling the games then I’d return it After playing the first game, my mind was made up. This thing is awesome. So far, I’ve only played Assassin’s Creed and I’ve been blown away by the stunning realism, the immersive story, and the out-of-this world graphics and game mechanics.

It’s such a blast playing it and I feel l’ve been immersed in a whole new world. There are a bunch of additional games I can’t wait to try out as well. This is honestly the best purchase I made this year and one of the best I’ve made in my entire life.

This is my one and only review after having my PS4 since GTA 5 was new. Love the games and content but a complete boatload of problems with slow downloads, loud fan and opening games just to have your console shutoff in the middle of a very slow ‘copying update file’ process which causes it to restart the whole download process of whatever you were trying to play while waiting.

PS store after a while reads error when trying to purchase digital content. Its just a mess as far as hardware goes. I was literally at 70% update file copied and tried to open another game while waiting and my console just shutoff for no reason.

I just wanted to game before work but this console is not friendly in situations like that. Not to mention numerous games tend to update at the same time which prompts you to ‘make space’ in your data when you didn’t need it before the update.

Account recovery methods are outdated and too much information is required if you are not using your own console(trying to add your account to a friend’s ps4). Make sure you have more than one email and always update your phone when you get a new one.

Also be sure to upload your saved data to the PS plus cloud as data could randomly go corrupt and start you over where you were previously. Again, great games, bad hardware.

The first thing that struck me about this router when a removed it from the box, is that it is huge. Upon further inspection, I found it’s huge size is unnecessary. It could be at least 20-30% smaller.

Not only is it huge, there is no way to mount it on a wall. I had to make my own brackets to do so. Plugging in USB devices are very cumbersome because of the excess size of it leaving the ports deep inside the case.

The same can be said about the two outer antennas. It took me several attempts at setting it up because it kept giving me a an webpage error after trying to set a password and had to reset it to factory defaults no less than 3 times.

I’m no stranger in setting up routers. I’ve been setting them up since I got my first one about 20 years ago. Once it was setup I do like the Dashboard and I love the Network Map feature. However the UI is a bit sluggish as a whole.

It has no way to group MAC addresses together to disable them if necessary like some of their other routers do. Once again the choices for DDNS service providers are exceptionally weak. You have to be careful with the Geo-Filter as you can narrow it so much, you will not be able to connect to your favorite games at all.

The Ping Heatmap has a very limited amount of online games you can use. What’s strange is in the Geo-Filter I can select Overwatch, but in the Ping Heatmap, it’s not even listed. So I don’t know how that is supposed to work.

Overall it’s an ok router. I’m not that impressed by it.

I am a competitive gamer. So naturally I want to be performing at my best consistently. I have the fastest internet package and upgraded to the best modem/router my internet provider offered. Although their equipment was their top of the line gear, I rarely had back to back matches with a good connection.

I tried upgrading and replacing everything I could to help me with secure a reliable connection. Once I hooked up my nighthawk XR500 with Duma’s geo-filter, I realized this was the missing link I was looking for.

My gameplay drastically improved because I had a reliable, stable connection with low ping, zero packet loss, and no lag spikes. The software to customize my connection specifications was easy to use and very user friendly.

I wish I had upgraded my modem and router years ago. I have already recommended this product to my friends and 10/10 would recommend this product to anyone wanting a competitive edge in online multi-player games.

This is a must buy.

Nowhere on the listing did the item mention it may be refurbished, however i received a refurbished model. At first i didn’t mind it, because most of the time refurbished is fine. So i set up the router and all, pretty simple setup, and the Wireless connection was working perfectly.

HOWEVER, for whatever reason, the Wired connection to my desktop computer was very unreliable, with speeds as low as 30 mbps?? And if that wasn’t enough, the wired connection would drop every time i visited a site, or downloaded a program, or even ran an internet speedtest; then forcing me to wait like 20-30 seconds for the connection to come back.

I messed with Duma OS settings for a while to no avail, so i gave Netgear support a call (please don’t call netgear support it has to be one of the worst ive ever tried to contact. ) First guy i called: I tell him my issue, he says alright and to wait a minute; sure i say.

And 10 minutes later he hangs up on me. Alright. maybe its just one bad egg. and i call again. Second guy seems way more willing to help and i explain my issue. however. it seems that went in one ear and out the other, because i had to repeat my issue for him multiple times, also explaining that yes, im already logged into DumaOS so whatever might need to be done on there can be done quickly without a hassle or him needing to explain how to access it.

“Ok well what you are going to want to do is type in your address bar, routerlogin. net”. Sigh. Fine. So 30 minutes pass, he hasnt even attempted to help me, after asking for the router serial number, saying he got it, then asking for it again 5 minutes later? Even though i said i can repeat it if he didnt catch something?? Anyway, this entire call which wasted nearly an hour of my time ended with him not even attempting to give me a solution, and then trying to sell me a $110 dollar internet security package that he claims will fix my problem (even though my other router does not have this problem at all).

I tell him i am not comfortable spending that at this time and will call back if i decide to buy it, but this guy is relentless and will not take no for an answer, so after 10 minutes of him trying to convince me, i just hung up.

TL;DR Whoever owned this before me must have had a similar issue as i had (i assume), sent it in to whoever he got it from, they didnt fix the issue correctly, it was resold for $150 dollars, i got it, didnt work, netgear support is awful and just tried to squeeze more money from me, and im going to avoid buying another router from walmart in the future.

I was looking for a way to double up on my security. I was very happy with my Linksys WRT3200ACM and over 20 items on my 2. 4GHZ network for a modest amount of bulbs, outlets, displays and thermostats working with Google Home.

I was even fairly secure using a Fios GB feed to router off my internal network to a main floor router position via ethernet cable. I wanted the same 2000 square foot of coverage, easy transition for all my wifi devices, and some protection from myself.

Really!! Even though after being on Windows as long as Windows has been around, I finally got upset with untraceable crashes and moved to a Mac mini M1. Yes I wanted the wifi 6 to match my FIOS gateway but what I was really after was router based software to watch my traffic and add to what I already tried to do myself as a computer software network programmer (retired).

I am also old school with oodles of wifi networks I have set up in homes, in spite of there being an app for it, I wanted a web based login for configuring the new router. However, the built in software which had a reasonable starting configuration had something others did not have.

It has ASUS support going forward for updates as needed with no licenses or fees where others required $$$$. It was a short time later my entire house was converted. I replaced my Linksys and cabled up my two computers and printer to the new local network.

I used my laptop to see where the dynamic gateway was and then logged on to the router. I made my account non-default, named my two wifi networks to match what I had been called them and set the same wifi password.

UP came my network. I then looked to their hints about the security software, turned it on and tightened it up because some of what they allow for by default, I no longer do. I used to enable Windows Remote Desktop into my home to check business email while at my software job.

Today, my network is simpler in access needs and now thanks to the ASUS RT-AX86U AX5700 more secure. Cyber Terrorism is only going to get worse and there are enough Mac computers to justify virus and malware for this platform too.

B&H outdid themselves and my router came in little over 24 hours!.

I have own this router for a month and I found several issues with this router compared to the AC86U that I also own: (1) Random WAN disconnect: disconnect results in lost of internet connection. A manual reboot is required to resume connection to WAN.

(Note that I do not need to reboot my “modem”, but only the AX86U to get WAN connection working again) Sometimes it happen in once a week, other time it happen 2 – 3 times within 24 hours. (2) 2. 4Ghz Connection with IOT devices: some smart plugs have hard time staying connected with default settings, you will need to tweak your settings and you may (or may not) fix it.

My 2 year old AC86U do not have this problem. (3) AiMesh interface: the interface is not as good as the AC86U. It seems more like an unpolished new router. There is no Uplink/Downlink speed information like the AC86U.

(4) AiMesh if using 2. 4ghz as Wireless Back haul: Aimesh wireless back haul frequency is auto negotiation. The frequency used cannot be defined manually. If the router automatically negotiate to use 2.

4Ghz, you are almost not able to even stream on youtube as the speed become so slow (remember Aimesh: 1 node speed cut in half in an ideal world), plus I believe with stability issue with this router mentioned above), you can only use that connection to browse static webpage.

(5) Wireless back haul feature: Since you cannot manually choose which frequency to use (2. 4Ghz or 5Ghz) as wireless back haul, it does automatically choose the best (or worst) connection at negotiation.

Once the back haul connection is established, the back haul frequency will not change even when there is a better connection (move from 2. 4Ghz to 5Ghz). Chances of getting an automatic connection to 5ghz as back haul with a reboot seems to be a matter of “luck” (maybe 70% chance), If it happens to be on 2.

4ghz back haul connection, you will either need to reboot or update wireless setting (for example: turn on or off WiFi signal. Another problem related to wireless back haul is that if you were trying to update the router’s wireless setting (for example turn on/off guest Wifi), the router will renegotiate the wireless back haul connection and it can cause it to switch from 5ghz to 2.

4ghz connection. Again, once negotiation is completed, the connection will get stuck forever until you “force” another wireless settings update (so it will refresh the AiMesh connection) or reboot. The good (when it works): speed is great, plug in a USB HDD, and it max out the LAN gigabit transfer rate.

At 5ghz back haul, the AiMesh speed seems to be ok, I am able to get up-to 544mbps. However, since there are still so many advance features that do not work well, I CANNOT recommend this to anyone.

I bought this the 1st week of April and was excited with my purchase, I replaced a Linksys 32x gaming router with this one, and I assumed that it was an upgrade boy I was wrong. The Net Duma software is glitchy, fails to functions, and struggles to do the advertised functions.

I figured I needed a firmware update and I believe it did a total of 3 but no improvement. I had the router reset itself to factory settings multiple times just for hitting the reboot option, devices lose connectivity and not connect for up to 24 hours later.

All my cameras became unresponsive to view and ironically lags in matches. I hit up customer service via web and they wanted to do the basic troubleshooting usually done with people clueless with tech.

Left me hanging for a few days while they “sent it over” to another department to resolve. Yea no pretty easy to jump in my car and buy a competitor. I’m sorry but check the Netduma forum and look at all the issues and people claiming its an expensive brick.

Its pretty basic netgear sell a product that you plug in and works. I bought a Linksys comparable in value and guess what it works flawlessly. Defective Radio?May be doesn’t make up for the glitchy software.

Easy enough to install and works well. Had an improvement in Gbps speeds. However, Providers make it very difficult to self install! In this case, Comcast. Yes, it works, but we’re getting no where near the download and upload speeds we pay for! Buying your own WiFi system is getting to be a lose/lose proposition! The equipment is getting more and more expensive and the service providers are making it more and more difficult to connect and get the speeds you’re paying for! Was getting about 90 Gbps download and 20 Gbps upload with previous equipment (Netgear CM500v Modem and Asus RT-AC68P (from 2013).

With this new router, speeds have increased to 120-150 Gbps Upload (depending on time of day/traffic) and 30 Gbps Upload. Not the greatest considering the cost of almost $700 (including the Netgear Nighthawk XR1000 Router and CM2050V modem).

According to our ISP (Xfinity) we should be getting 900 Gbps – That’s what we pay for, at least. Considering returning and just renting Xfinity’s equipment. Typically, modems with routers built in do k no it have the range needed.

This was the second mesh setup I tried after first buying the Asus Zenwifi XT8 Wifi6 Mesh setup. I was replacing a TP-Link router which worked great for about 5 years (favorite router to that point, recommended at least 5 different times to people) but it was starting to show its age and couldn’t keep up with the growing number of smart home devices on our network and bandwidth requirements (was an older 802.

11ac model so of course). The Amplifi Alien was my preferred option to begin with, but went with the Asus based on fairly even reviews, the dedicated wireless backhaul of the Asus, and the Asus being much cheaper.

My experience with the Asus was great to start (the first few days). But I ended up spending time weekly trying to get it working right (I’m a techie so know what I’m doing), and finally gave up after complaints from the family that “its worse than the old router” and 6 months of unending troubleshooting, reverting firmwares, resetting to factory settings every few weeks to try again, etc.

etc. etc. So I finally gave up and bought two of the Amplifi Aliens to replace it, and couldn’t be happier. It worked great to start, but a little tuning and it’s been rock solid and performing great.

I went in a bit nervous as this is billed as “the Apple of routers”, so I was worried about the lack of configuration options (advanced users, do your research in case it’s missing something you need).

But the simplicity I see as a huge positive, even as a tech saavy user. 95% of people don’t need all the bells and whistles, so for the rest of us this is refreshing and does “just work”. You aren’t chasing weird issues all the time with this thing.

Even things like my wireless surround that I had to mess with to prevent interference between it and the router, just worked. This has become my favorite router of all time, and I couldn’t be happier.

It’s fast, has great coverage, is dead simple to administer and customize, and it has everything most people need and then some. I haven’t missed the dedicated wireless backhaul. Yes, it’s a little pricier than some, but still competitive or even cheaper than it’s high end competition (looking at you, Orbi).

If you are on the fence and comparing to others, buy the Amplifi Aliens. You can thank me later.

Working in IT administration as well as being apart of infrastructure and wireless support I have seen access points, backhauls, superior setups, and overall multi purpose network equipment that promised the world and would never let you down.

Vastly, I have either replaced sed equipment or support it onto life support. No device made good on their promise of support or out of the box simplicity. I remember first thoughts of opening this and prepped my setup that consist of the laptop, manual configuration of IPV4, ethernet cables, and ensuring the default web portal address.

I laughed at the mere statement of using an app which NEVER WORKS to configure a router. This blew all of that away. The app is king and truly gives you simple options to lay out the topology of your existing network.

I lived in a 1950s Victorian that is covered in plaster and thick walls. The house would laugh at EVERY router and wireless extender I brought to it…until now. Now the house and I both are just completely blown away.

Wireless laughably blows throw any wall, finds all of the devices (both wireless and wired), gives you the ability to identify them and manage each of them, and covers the dead areas with immediate wireless access.

I was able to even get superior coverage in my garage and bring back ALL of my Blink cameras. This WiFi 6 Mesh system is just a future proof amazing device that EVERYONE that has problems with connectivity should buy; and not just the router but the mesh point.

I used my Trendnet wireless extender for the garage now and it sees my Alien AP (yes my setup is bride mode since I cannot use the Alien as a router due to not supporting DDNS…Cmon Unbiquiti Networks!) and connects anything that needs a boost of wireless access to it.

I truly believe I do not need that wireless extender but I’d rather overkill than wait for problems. I highly recommend this mesh router system and plead with anyone who doubts it that your dollars are well spent.

If you do it know how to layout your topology then ask for help because it is NOT this products fault for short sightedness.

I’ve renovated my home a few years back and although I love the additional space added on, I created problems that I could not have anticipated. My home went from approximately 3,000 sq ft. , built in the 80’s, to 4,500 sq ft.

Great for space, but a NIGHTMARE for Wi-Fi coverage. The additional walls, plumbing, insulation, sound proofing and electrical system befuddled any Wi-Fi system or extender I could find. I caught a YouTube video on the benefits of Wi-Fi 6 and decided to pick up the Amplifi Alein Mesh Wi-Fi system and BOOM, I instantly had better Wi-Fi speeds than I’ve ever seen at any time in this house.

I started with Router and Mesh Point package (Router downstairs and Mesh Point Upstairs in the Master Bedroom). For reference, I have Xfinity internet with 1G down and 50Mbps up. In the room with the Router, I get up to 952 Mbps down and about 44 Mbps up – and that’s with the kids FaceTiming or playing video games with their friends at the same time.

The bedroom with the Mesh unit upstairs gets 552 MPS down and 41. 2 MPS up. On the new portion of the house, the coverage dropped to 34 Mbps at the furthest point which is a back bedroom. Fine for basic Wi-Fi use I guess, but not good enough for our needs.

During the toughest part of Covid last year, there were at least 3 of us on Zoom sessions at times. Coordinating schedules to ensure zero dropouts, was out of the question (and this is why I love this system), so I opted to purchase 2 additional stand-alone units over the next few months to use as mesh points and cover the entire house and INSTANT improvement took place.

We had zero drops on Zoom calls and the slowest speed I get in any room is 322Mbps down and 38. 9 Mbps up. It’s amazing. According to the Amplifi app, I currently have 30 devices connected to the system and everything’s working blazingly fast.

Now, if I can figure out how to get this kind of speed to the furthest part of my backyard, I may never go back to the office! Seriously, if Amplify Alien comes up with an outdoor system, it’s over for anyone else.

It’s that good.

Router technology seems to have really excelled in the last few years and this router shows that trend is just going to continue. It has been my favorite router to use yet and I have been nothing but pleased.

Setting up this router was a breeze, I used to really struggle with router setup and troubleshooting but the way Linksys has router setup nowadays, I had zero issues. I have to commend Linksys on their browser setup and app features.

Setup is so smooth and I love being able to monitor our router and service performance, how many devices are connected, etc. Once I got the router setup and working, I told the family to really put it to the test and use their devices heavily.

We usually have about 18-20 devices connected in the house, not all used at one given time, but when everyone is home the demands can be pretty high. I monitored the performance for a few days and I have been very impressed.

I had no complaints with speed, but where I really saw the improvement from our previous router was the range. During warm months, our family is constantly outside on the deck, in the pool, or in the garage working on something, and we always end up using Wi-Fi whether that is streaming music or streaming video for an outdoor movie night with the projector.

I purposely tested this and I had no issues whereas our old router would struggle with range and reaching us outside. We also have wireless cameras spread out outside the house and them staying connected to the Wi-Fi can be spotty and unreliable.

However I did see an improvement with the outdoor camera connections as well. I really have no issues with the range or speed of this router and this will be just fine for the majority for households.

I also liked the guest access feature, that is something that was new to us but it is nice to have and I know we will use it going forward. The overall design of this router is also pleasant, it is modern looking and is compact in size, it is not much bigger than our stand up modem, so they fit together nicely.

I also like that it is a standup router vs. the older router style of being like a big pan that takes a ton of surface area. Since this stands up, it hardly takes up space and the stand/base is solid, it does not feel like it wants to tip over once all the stiff wires are connected to the back of it.

I like the look of the front of the router and its simple to the point light indicators on the front. Luckily we have yet to have this router abruptly disconnect, but I know on previous routers that had these clear indicators on the front, it was very easy to glance at the router and see if there was something awry with the home Wi-Fi.

Overall, this router has treated us well so far and I can tell based on its performance that it will be plenty of power for most households, especially for years to come with this being such a modern and updated router.

Don’t let the lack of external antennas fool you, the E9450 delivers on its promised range and even performs better on range than another router I had that had 4 adjustable external antennas, which actually had dead zones in one of our bedrooms, the garage, and the front porch on the 5GHz band.

The E9450 on the other hand still operated in those locations under 5GHz while still delivering our max internet speed of 230Mbps. The router is compact and yet has a good solid heft, giving it a premium feel, and won’t move around while cables are plugged in when standing vertically, which is also supported by the rubber feet on its stand.

You can actually lay the router horizontally, but out of the box it will slide around on a flat smooth surface. If you place it on a rubber mat or attach non-slip feet on them, it will work out fine.

Setup is incredibly simple and done using any internet browser. You simply connect to the router’s wifi connection using its SSID and sign in with the credentials noted on the included written materials, then enter 192.

168. 1. 1 on any browser to get to the router’s configuration page. The router will walk you through the initial setup. The configuration page itself is fast to navigate through, with a clean and easy to understand interface.

UPnP (universal plug and play) works out of the box. The E9450 was able to set up the port forwarding for my Plex Media Server automatically without me having to do anything, and even labeled it correctly as “Plex Media Server”.

The E9450 has a USB 3. 0 port which allows you to connect an external disk to it and turn it into a NAS (network attached storage) as a SMB, FTP, or UPnP media server. The configuration page has a relatively mature external storage section, allowing you to see the USB speed protocol the connected device is running at, shared folders, the ability to format the drive and safely eject the drive.

The supported formats for external storage on the E9450 are FAT32, NTFS and HFS+. Missing from the router is the ability to host a VPN server. This is not to be confused with connecting to a VPN server, of which the E9450 has no problems doing.

It supports IPSec, PPTP, and L2TP VPN passthrough. But if you want to create a VPN server of your own for your home network to allow it to be accessible outside of your home, you can’t. Furthmore, to my knowledge, DD-WRT doesn’t support this router.

Fast AX wifi speeds with reliable range and an excellent, speedy and informative configuration page makes this a router I can easily recommend.

When it comes to updating your home WiFi system, it is easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices out there. Stand-alone WiFi routers or multi-node mesh. Wi-fi 5 or WiFi 6, dual band or not.

Beamforming or not. I could go on and on. There are literally hundreds of choices related to features and performance. But if your needs are simple and your home is not too big, you could do a lot worse than opting for the Linksys E9450 Dual Band WiFi 6 router.

The latest in a long line of routers from networking giant Linksys, the E9450 is a great choice for most people who just want to upgrade their router to take advantage of new technology associated with WiFi 6.

( Or AX, if you want to follow the familiar letter codes that were used before: A,G,N, AC. ) The biggest advantage of WiFi 6 is that it was designed from the ground up to better deal multiple wireless devices at the same time — something some older routers sometimes struggle to do well.

If your house is like mine, you probably have a LOT of different devices connected to WiFi, from lights, doorbell cameras and thermostats, to computers, phones tablets and TVs. The E9450 is rated to deal with “30+” devices, which is probably enough to satisfy most households.

Better yet, this router is supposed to have enough broadcasting power to cover homes up to 2800 square feet, which is a pretty large home by most standards. When you get bigger than than that, it may be time to look at mesh systems, which have multiple nodes to ensure good WiFi coverage over even larger and multistory homes.

Interestingly enough, the E9450 has a “Mesh” light on the front but it does not have that capability in its current form. The owners manual, only available via download from the Linksys web site, hints it may be added later.

“For future update. ” New firmware and additional nodes would be needed for that. Unlike most new mesh setups, the E9450 has an old school design: A single black 6×8-inch rectangular box with a few lights on the front to show what is going on and four 1 gigabit ethernet ports on the back.

It is a a very clean design with no external antennas (4 are hidden inside) and no blinking lights (except during setup) so should not offend the aesthic sensibilities of most folks. It must sit in a vertical position because it has a built in stand.

But that’s fine since it takes up less desk space that way. As with most modern routers, this is one is dual-band, operating on both the 2. 4 and 5 gigahertz frequencies. The specs say it is capable of speeds up to 5.

4 gigabits per second but expect a lot less in real world situations. Other welcome features include an on/off switch (most routers do not have one) and a USB 3 port for adding a hard drive to your network.

Setup will be very familiar to anyone who installed wireless routers before. There are no apps or other fancy do-dads involved. Once again, it is old school, with a web-based interface you access via your computer’s web browser.

Don’t throw away the quick setup guide, the only documentation that comes with the E9450. It contains the name and password you will need to get into the admin to set up and customize your WiFi network.

No more admin/admin on initial setup. Except for changing the name and password of the WiFi network and inputing new admin access parameters, you probably won’t need to mess with the default settings.

You might be tempted to switch to the new WPA3 security protocol, which is stronger than the old WPA2 we have been using for years. But many older wireless devices are not compatible with WPA3 so stick with the “WPA2/WPA3 Personal” default.

Older devices may also be problematic when it comes to beamforming , which is supposed focus WiFi signals at devices that use them rather broadcast a wide field. That option is turned off by default, which is probably a good thing.

Some older devices (older than N rated) do not play well with beamforming. One good thing about old school routers like this one, compared to the new mesh models, is you have much more control over all of the arcane network settings, including parental controls.

Many mesh systems are one size fits all, with no ability to fine tune any network settings. They also probably lack the standard compliment of ethernet ports that have been standard in most WiFi routers for years.

I found the overall performance of the E9450 to be quite good. If you are upgrading from WiFi 5 (AC) or older system, you probably will notice less lag when using streaming services on a WiFi connected TV or other high-bandwidth devices.

That’s mostly because WiFi 6 is better at juggling multiple devices seeking internet access at the same time. Overall throughput did seem to drop off a little in the far reaches of my 1500 square foot home but not enough to cause any issues with any of my devices.

The Linksys E9450 is nothing revolutionary but is a good basic choice for those who want to update aging WiFi routers and take advantage of the performance boosts that come with WiFi 6.

I upgraded from an Asus AC1200 and this is much better than before and I’m still learning the added features like AIMesh and the other stuff on the interface or dashboard. Certainly requires reading the manual and the set up process wasn’t that easy so I had to call Asus Support did some help.

For one thing I didn’t save the Password correctly and instead of a asterisk at the end of it. It was a pound sign. It was late and I wanted to install it asap. It’s very colorful with the RGB Lighting and I have a ROG Strix B450F Gaming Motherboard.

Might as well follow through. So I do believe to have better bandwidth or ping. I have Spectrum DSL and I should be at 100 mbps but I thought because I’m in a apartment complex. Maybe it’s because of the old Asus AC 1200 I didn’t get past 80 mbps.

So I figure I’ll do a internet speed test on a Google extension I have.

There isn’t much this router can’t do. It is a perfect product for anyone looking for features that improve gaming and streaming experiences. There are more than 10 devices connected at a time and there has not been a loss of speed anywhere.

This router can easily cover our 3 floor with no issue. A computer streaming AAA games, an Xbox, and a streaming TV platform can all perform well with no issues. Setting up the router and connecting to my ISP was a piece of cake and took only a few minutes.

There is an app that helps guide you through and has all of the features you need. If there are children learning from home, the router has settings to make that a priority. If you prefer gaming you can make gaming the top priority.

This is a great router for a someone with little experience setting up a network and also a person who is advanced. I can’t rate this high enough. If I were to say something negative, it would be that there should be more Lan ports available.

4 is suitable, just wish there were a couple more. If your a person that has an RGB setup, this router would fit right into the setup. It’s very sleek looking and looks futuristic. I strongly recommend this router to anyone.

I bought this to add to my AiMesh, ended up using this as my primary router to go with My AC68U units. This is my primary router and I am so glad I got this. Even though my AC68U were great to use with this being My Primary I have increased speed on the internet, Increased Gaming capabilities, and Streaming of movies and videos has greatly improved.

I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a variaty of uses, It also has a built in protection from attacks. I know that there are newer and faster out there. but if you never plan on getting gigabit speeds but yet run speeds in download under 500mbs this is fantastic.

So glad I made this purchase. The Data rate capabilities are off the charts for me.

This router was really easy to set up – just plugged it into my cable modem, then opened the web page for the router. It walks you through the basic settings to configure your wifi network, then you’re pretty much done if you want.

There’s also a mobile app you can use, but I’ve mainly been using the web interface from my PC. With everything including the kitchen sink wanting to get online (yep, the kitchen faucet accepts commands from Alexa or Google), my old router was running into issues with a limit on the number of concurrent devices it would allow on the wifi network.

With smart TVs, smart sockets, smart speakers, cell phones, laptops, tablets, kindles, doorbell, garage door openers, it’s surprising how quickly the number ticks up. The ASUS router page is showing I currently have 38 devices connected, and does a pretty good job of identifying them all, and gives me control to temporarily block individual devices.

The interface is fast and responsive. My old non-ASUS router also provided a mobile app, but would frequently decide it couldn’t show me any devices on the network, depending on which way the wind was blowing.

The ASUS offering has been a breath of fresh air. We’re pretty heavy internet users in our household, with two tween/teen kids who are forever streaming video from Youtube or Twitch. We also subscribe to YoutubeTV, so if there’s anyone watching TV, it’s coming through this router.

We haven’t experienced any problems with streams buffering or dropping quality. I say “pretty much done if you want”, because there’s a ton of features this router provides if you want to dive in further.

Aimed at gamers, you can quickly set it up to prioritize certain computers or mobile devices. I haven’t tried this yet, as we just haven’t needed to – our connection has been just fine – but It may be useful to those with more limited bandwidth.

There are options to set up shared access to a printer or storage via a usb connection to the router. It appears you can configure it to share files over the internet, or have the router download to the storage device without needing a computer to be running.

There are also considerable logging and traffic monitoring tools, so you can see what device is using what amount of data, and where that data is going or coming from. Wifi range is good, nothing spectacular.

It’s about the same as my old router. It gives good coverage throughout the house, but outside it’s a little patchy. Nothing unexpected, though. I have a cheap extender relaying wifi to the back yard.

I did notice I my PC subwoofer was picking up some interference from it, so I’ve had to move these devices a couple of feet further apart.

I’m using it as the main router for AiMesh in our 3900 square foot house. Awesome speed. Initial testing in the same room as the router I was getting 490mbps from my 400mbps rated internet connection, and 250mbps 50 feet away and one level down through several walls with just one router.

I had some hiccups figuring out how to setup the AiMesh system – you have to download new firmware for all older routers. It only took a little research to get it all worked out. I now have one main GS-AX3000 and two AC1750 nodes.

It would probably be better with all WiFi 6 routers like the main one, but baby steps.

It may look creepy like a spider, or just plain stupid, but it gets the job done! I purchased this a couple years ago because the built in wifi that is in my internet provider’s modem is just garbage.

This router is a tank. I get 2. 4 signal all over my house, and even most of it is covered with the 5ghz band as well. And we have solid concrete cinder block walls behind all our drywall. No issue with signal.

My internet speed is 1gigabit down and 50 megabit up. On 2. 4 with solid signal I can usually get 120megbit down and the full 5 up without issues. On 5ghz I can get over 350 megabit down if I am within solid signal range.

When hard wired to it, I have no issue with max speeds on all fronts. I have an android phone, and downloaded the app to control this router from it, and it is packed with great features. From the app, I can tunr on or off any of the 3 wifi attenas, I can block internet access to any device that is connected to it, and I can even limit how much time a certain device gets internet access, Another useful feature is, you can connect any device, and the assign it to a specific user, So if you have a house full of people who all have devices connected, you can make user profiles and assign the devices to the specific user that uses that device.

So when little Johnny comes home to play video games while he chats on his phone, but didn’t take out the trash, you can block all his devices from internet access all at once by turning off access to his profile.

Just a few useful features for those with big families with several devices. These are just a few solid features of this router, It has gotten several firmware updates that have improved it’s security and performance as well.

Just make sure you do a full power down for at least 30 seconds and then do a full reboot. Some of the firmware updates have crippled my upload speed until I take this step, Overall, fantastic router! Been using it for over 3 years now!.

This router was supposed to be top of the line when I bought it in 2020. The signal has been decent, but it has been plagued with problems that progressively get worse over time. One feature I liked was being able to use the parental time block feature to shut the router off at specific times of the day on the kids devices.

It worked like a champ for a few months and then randomly deleted all the ip addresses for the kids devices (which were many!) After re-adding all the devices for the 3rd time, they deleted again. After that stranger things began happening.

When I would log into the router from my computer or phone, etc. everything turned into japanese. I don’t know japanese, so I had to follow some screenshots to turn it back to english. Fast forward another month, the router turned off completely.

I restarted it and all our smart devices (50+) are working with the unit. however now when I try to log into the router, not only am I being japanese again, it doesn’t recognize my login anymore. I tried the factory login and still nothing.

I called Asus, and after waiting on hold for 20+minutes, they tell me it is out of warranty, so they told me to go to their website and use the chat feature. I used the chat feature, and they proceed to tell me I need to do a factory reset.

Which means I have to set up a whole new network SSID and reprogram 50+ devices to work with the router again! There is no guarantee this won’t happen again. so I am on the fence about restarting the modem since things are still working.

I just can’t access the settings in the modem. If I must reset, I will purchase a new modem and throw this one away as no one should have to use this piece of garbage! I only bought this modem for the gaming reliability for one of the kids.

I should have stuck with my old reliable Apple router literally the most reliable router I have ever owned. I have also owned netgear. other than the constant connection issues with it I never had a settings issue.

Don’t even get me started on the ASUS laptop I bought a few years ago! Asus sucks.

I pre ordered it from PB Tech on 17 September 2021 but had to wait for delivery until October as they did not had it in the stock at that time I guess because of Lockdowns. It was the most expensive and advance router available in NZ last year.

I had this router now for almost a year and have no regrets for paying almost $1000 including delivery. The reason why I bought it because it is so advance in what it has to offer and will offer you the best you can get from the festers Wi-Fi 6 Internet today and even faster in future.

You do not need another router in future to upgrade your Internet speed. It can already handle the speed the Internet providers even cannot offer in NZ at the moment. It is the most powerful router which can connect dozens of devises and covers the large area through the thick wall of a large house.

One devise solves all you Internet needs. No need for Mashing in house. This is what you paying for here. The hardware and software is the best too. This router is very heavy for a reason. It is packed with all the best Hi Tech staff inside and it delivers when you really need it.

Had all high speed ports in and out of router and super easy software installation. Download from “Google app” store for free on Android phone and you can control the entire Internet in house from you Mobile phone.

No need to go PC to do it. Software is very advance as you would expect for this money and can offer you so many settings which you probably do not need but IT specialists will defiantly appreciate these extras.

RGB light on the top at the middle of the router is nice extra too especially at night in the dark. Can choose any colour you like. To cut this long story short – IT IS THE FULL PACKAGE and ULTIMATE INTERNET DEVICE.

IšverstiShow in original languageI always wanted to own my own router instead of rent one from the cable/internet company. This was my first choice and experience in doing so. I would highly recommend it.

I have multiple devices, both hardwired and wireless, connected to the router at once; it has never failed. I been using it for about 2 years now and I have never even had to reboot it for any issues.

I cannot recommend this router enough. HOWEVER, I would check that the router is compatible with the internet service provider you are using, there should be information out there that confirms which models are compatible.

But if this router is compatible, it does a great job.

We can connect up to 10 devices pretty easily without any noticeable decrease in speed. This is including 1 ethernet connection. Speed is excellent (or rather, it hits the upper limit from my provider, which is 100 mbps).

The bad: Nothing. The ugly: Every once in a while -I’d say maybe once or twice a week, the wifi just dies. Usually the router auo-restarts and fixes it, so we don’t really see an issue – at most, we have to wait through about 30s of buffering.

But sometimes, it does not restart, so I have to restart the gateway through my provider. Fortunately, there is an app for that (TM) so it takes about 2 minutes, but it would be a hassle if one had to go directly to the ISP to do this.

I bought a modem in 2008 that lasted 9 years. My last one lasted 3 years. This one only lasted 15 months. Are they making them less and less reliable over the years? I feel scammed by the companies who make these devices and cannot help but feel that planned obsolescence may be at play here.

IšverstiShow in original languageI purchased this router on behalf of a customer who was looking for an inexpensive router/wifi access point for his home office. While the price was certainly within my customer’s budget, upon opening the box and closely examining this unit, my customer and I both agreed this was NOT what he wanted! The intended use for this router was to be used as a “wireless access point”; an option that is pretty standard on *most* routers, including most models from Linksys.

This particular model however, had no option to convert it from its native “router” function, to a simple “wireless access point” mode, so it was of no use to my customer. Secondly, this particular router is only a “single band” router, meaning it can only transmit & receive data at the older “2.

4Ghz” frequency. For those with “5G” capable devices, having to “drop back” and operate at 2. 4Ghz, would almost seem like “going back in time”. Not exactly what most of us are wanting to do! We ended up returning this model, and getting one that could in fact be programmed to be used an access point, AND operate in both “2.

4Ghz”, as well as “5Ghz” mode, which met my customer’s needs and was only a few dollars more in price. To be fair, for someone who just needs a (very!) basic, single band router in their home or office, this router might just fit the bill.

If however, you’re looking for a router with more robust functionality, and/or the capability to program it to be used as a wireless access point, you’ll probably want to “pass” on this particular model.

IšverstiShow in original languageBought the Linksys AC1200 router to replace my linksys ea2700 that died after about seven years of faithful service. While the AC1200 works, the admin webpages of this new router take much longer to completely display the same basic info as the old router.

It takes almost 20 seconds for it to display the whole Wireless Security page which consists of the 2. 4 and 5 GHz security modes and passphrases. Displaying the complete MAC filtering page takes about 15 seconds.

It displays all 32 MAC filter entry fields in about 1 second but then takes another 14 seconds or so display the wireless MAC filter checkbox and the radio buttons besides the prevent/enable options.

A router made in 2021/22 should perform much better than a router built in the 2013/14/15 time period.

This is an okay console for gaming and exclusives but if you want a more stable experience the Xbox one x is more consistent when it comes to even basic things such as being able to connect to the internet.

This is my second PlayStation and it literally will not connect to my WiFi no matter how much I trouble shoot, change my DNS settings, attempt to set it up with WPS. This console is a serious frustration and let down when it comes to just connecting to the internet.

Unless you can hardline your PlayStation I probably wouldn’t recommend this console for online gaming, it’s quite terrible about randomly disconnecting even in those rare instances it works as it’s supposed to.

Sony seriously oversells this console and basically lies on their website about it being a 4K gaming console. It upscales to 4K with checkerboarding, which is hardly true 4K. If I could go back I’d save my money.

PlayStation is more and more subpar as the generations progress. Take for instance the PlayStation 5 consoles aren’t even all the same, some have a different number of fan blades causing some consoles to be way louder than others.

Pretty unacceptable from a corporation with the resources like Sony has. Pathetic console performance overall and sub par internet capabilities. Definitely not worth $400.

This is coming from a hard-core Xbox user. I ended up getting this console through a coworker of mine who was selling it because it wasn’t the version he wanted I had previously gotten a PS4 just for God of war and then got sucked into a few of the other PlayStation exclusive games.

My biggest issue with PlayStation has always been their controller it doesn’t feel ergonomically correct like the Xbox one I have big hands and I always felt like my hands were scrunched up and the other PlayStation controllers.

Once I got my hands on the PlayStation five I immediately noticed the difference in size not only the console itself which is huge by the way you’re basically buying a PC hard drive, The controller was the biggest difference for me.

Well it still has all the same buttons and features as the previous PS4 controller this thing is bigger and actually looks like they put some thought into the controller. It looks like it was made with some decent quality and I am quite impressed with it.

Aside from the controller and the big design overhaul I am impressed with the overall performance the graphics look pretty damn good I am very impressed and playing my PS4 games and they look better than ever.

I don’t have enough money to buy a PS five game until my next check but when I do I look forward to seeing how much the graphics will change even more. Loading screens are almost nonexistent in any game that I have played so far they last up to maybe 5 to 10 seconds if that depending on what you’re playing.

My only issue with this console so far is that I liked how the PS4 had themes on the main hub screen and you could kind of customize it a little bit. I know that the PlayStation five has barely been out and is struggling with meeting demands as far as people being able to purchase these things so it’s not a big deal but I look look forward to having that in the future particularly a God of war theme would be pretty cool.

I do recommend this consul I am very impressed I will still get the next Xbox when it comes available to me but for right now this was a great purchase and I have no regrets with it.

Before I go on my rant, I own PS5 Disk, Xbox Series S and X, and a gaming computer. I am not taking sides, just going to give an honest review of a normal gamer. Upon the announcement I wanted the PS5 and the Xbox series X out of the gate, the PS5 looks amazing, the controller is pretty cool at first, and some of the games are a must have.

But I am going to review the console with the non exclusive games. At first, the announcement of the internal SSD size of 825 GB instead of 1TB like the competition was a head scratcher, but looking at history of playstation, the storage can be added, now it is a year after release and you can add a m.

2 SSD gen 4 IF you are on the beta program. Xbox had the ability day one, that SSD for 1tb costs about the same as the xbox one too. After installing 3 ps5 games and 4 ps4 games I ran out of storage on the console.

“Impossible” I thought, this is almost 1 TB and I installed like 3 games at 100 gb each and a few less than that, looking at the ACTUAL AVAILABLE STORAGE there is 650GB almost HALF of the competition.

There is a 60 some GB buffer for updates that can’t be used, and the ps5 OS takes up a whopping 115 GB, my xbox has 960 GB available out of the box. This means everyone needs to uninstall and reinstall their games all the time to be able to switch between a common sized game library.

Lets look at the controller now, playing the given game Astro World, its a tech demo to show off what the controller can do, its fun for that game only, and you turn off the features in actual games because it drains the battery and its a gimmick not everyone wants.

Now lets talk about physical size. this thing is almost as tall as my gaming desktop, which means carrying this anywhere is going to require a suitcase, not a back pack like the xbox series x can fit into or a pocket like the series S can fit into.

so if you are a stay at home gamer who has no friends who like to play in LAN mode or just in the same room to trash talk and have fun. then this might be for you? then the icing on the cake is the removable panels, the white looks clean, but have you seen the red and black controllers? Playstation is releasing a black headset too, and they are suing all companies making black or other colored side panels.

c’mon playstation. don’t stoop so low, if you want to come out with special edition panels I will buy them, but getting upset with other companies for coming out with black panels upon release just isnt cool because you didn’t think about it first.

All in all the gameplay is almost the same as a pc or the xbox series x but is missing a lot of next gen features that the xbox included (quick resume) if you are so much of a playstation fan that this doesn’t bug you, fine, but so far all the play station fans I’ve lent my xbox to are now selling the PS5 and got themselves a series X.

Cost to performance the PS5 falls very short, cost for Actual storage, the PS5 falls short, if you want to take this with you to a friends or on a trip, this is not the right console for you. If you like a controller to turn your trigger finger into the receiving end of a telegraph machine in the few games its supported, this is for you.

I am hoping for a next gen for this console already with a 1TB SSD and a OS that is UNDER 50GB until then, this console is collecting dust while my xbox is coming with me everywhere and is my go to console.

Finally secured a PS5 after many, many prior attempts, and am very happy with purchase and bundle from ShopTo. Console is big. BIG. It’s footprint is much larger than the PS4 Pro it replaces and you should take that into consideration as your current gaming setup may need adjustment.

Setup was simple, don’t waste any extra cash on ‘uprated’ HDMI cables unless you need significant length, the provided cable is giving me the correct resolutions on the right HDMI port on a 4yr old Sony TV.

Transfer from PS4 Pro of some games, save info and profiles took around 8 hours over LAN, wireless transfer will be longer so you may choose to backup to USB or SSD and transfer that way. NOTE – your capture gallery will not transfer and you must back this up separately via USB – also, PS5 does not allow you to import your captures [I bought a tiny USB drive to keep in the PS5 permanently to house my images].

In comparison to the PS4 Pro the PS5 is near silent – I no longer have to play RDR2 or TLOU2 with headphones to counter the ‘take off fans’ noise of the PS4 when working hard. The new controllers are quite a bit heavier than the PS4’s but their capabilities are a generational step on from earlier ones – the haptic feedback is amazing at time and adds a real extra dimension to immersion and control at times [drawing bows, firing etc.

]. For me its this area where the PS5 really kicks on. Early days for the gaming experience but Astro’s playroom is a lot of fun and really shows off the new controllers capabilities and HFW looks gorgeous – am looking forward to exploring some other PS5 titles [Deathloop, Returnal] to see how they step on from RDR2 and the like.

Happy I finally have one, the wait was worth it and, despite the significant outlay, I think it will provide many, many hours of gaming for some time to come. A PS6 will need to include a haptic immersion, a neuralink and embedded VR to progress from this!.
