In what world is using a micro USB connector outside as an antenna connector a good idea?? Engineering fudge up. The thing works great for a while, but after use. no USB status, no antenna signal. $249 is a lot of money for maybe a couple years if lucky.

Mine has given me trouble for 2 of the 3 years I have owned it. JUNK.

Paired it with a TP-Link Archer C7 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router. We can stream video and have 2 iPads and 2 iPhones connected concurrently with no problems or degradation. I am camping at Edisto Island using the setup while writing this review.

I am about 1/4 mile from the campground WiFi antenna. Even outside, my iPhone can’t pick up the signal at all. The CC Vector picks up about 40?ignal strength. I mounted the antenna on the top of the roof ladder, routed the cable in through the power cord hole so I didn’t even need to drill any holes.

We are VERY satisfied with this equipment. I did have an issue with the first repeater but their customer service was great. They sent me a replacement unit right away. Can’t beat this company. A.

Hookup was easy! I would estimate we are working at a 25% signal strength, granted it works great early morning before everyone hits the signal, but it works through most of the day. We are approximately 100 yards from the wifi through a thin stand of trees with no leaves yet.

After years of pain and suffering dealing with systems that are not systems … at last … one that works. We have to cover a facility and two acres … and this does the trick seamlessly. We have at last count over 3 dozen Wi-Fi devices that need fast and seamless internet.

We plugged in three Google devices on a CAT6 wired LAN with absolutely no problem to cover a 5000 SF facility with lots of solid wood walls and steel material. We also installed three outside yard units without LAN wire and two wireless gap fillers inside the house.

All 8 hooked up and are working without issue. I may be the exception but not one time have I had to do trouble shooting. It was plug and play the whole way … and I was really skeptical. The guest capability is very nice for friends that visit and additional peace of mind for us.

The units are nearly invisible with no antennas and blinking lights … the wife really likes that we can hide them away. Yes – I’m happy with my system.

Other reviews here spooked me so have been in contact with vendor. You must take the device to an ATT SALES store for immediate use. They will sell you the sim (5 bucks), activate (15bucks), take your prepayment for first month and set up autopay if you wish.

We chose 55 bucks for 100 gigs. Add taxes and that’s the price out the door. Now I will come back and update this if I have any issues. 4 stars because you have to go to a store to get this done right away (can’t do it until you have the device in hand as they need the IMEI number.

Bought this hot spot 2 days ago. Spent over 1 hour on the phone with 8 phone calls later to try to get service on the hot spot. Still have 2 pending charges for 75. 00 for the 8GB of service on my one credit card that I tried to apply to the hotspot online through their website and the payment FINALLY went through after speaking to the 10th person on the phone to try to get service and answering security questions so that the 75.

00 payment would go through using another 2nd credit card. Now I have to make sure I didn’t get triple charged. All 8 GB was burned through in less than 48 hours and the hot spot was not heavily used.

Will be returning this money sucker device due to the difficulty of getting service and the speed of burning through the entire 8 GB in less than 48 hours (it lasted about 36 hours and wasn’t even on the entire time).

Better to save your money and go with a different mobile hotspot. I’ve had a T-mobile hot spot in the past and it lasted for weeks with heavier use, but this one, is no good.

This little thing has saved me over $200 each month on phone and data service. My rural area offers no home Wi-Fi service providers. With this I now have Wi-Fi for all of my devices. 4 smartphones,a Playstation 4 and a tablet.

With this i no longer need to pay for expensive phone and data with mobile hotspot plans with contracts. I replaced all of my devices with much cheaper prepaid SIMS just to call. That alone saved a bunch.

This device handles all of our data needs. PLUS as long as I slip it in my purse or pocket I have Wi-Fi for all my devices where ever I go. The streaming seems to be a little faster than my old phone hotspot was when streaming movies and such from my playstation 4.

So far,No more buffering. How have I never seen or heard of these before now? Its GENIUS! Only wish I would heard of this sooner. I would have saved so much money.

Impressed with this router. Installation and setup could not be easier. I just set it up identically to my home wi-fi router and my laptop and iPad connected without a hitch – literally 5 minutes to complete.

Seamless to work from home or my RV. The only negative I have is the price – for what it does, it is overpriced compared to any modern top of the line home wi-fi router or average home network repeater.

But hey – can’t argue with the convenience. Next step for me is to beef up security and include a VPN in my standard RV wireless configuration.

I absolutely love this addition to our new travel trailer. Very weak Wi-Fi signals everywhere we went. until now! This device initially seemed daunting to setup, however, follow the directions and it’s a snap! Worked like a miracle pulling in Wi-Fi from several known sources.

Streaming to a smart TV while having phones connected, is no problem. It does what it says it does and most importantly is fairly priced. The build quality is excellent and I had no problems with connecting the the trailer.

I used the screw-on suction cup device for an additional $20. Works like a charm.

If you you just need an exterior antenna to capture an already strong wifi signal, this will work for you. However, it does not boost a wifi signal in the way I’d hoped. I used the Alfa Camp Pro 2 on my camper and a Bitstream Badboy at my house to share wifi with a friend.

Out of curiosity, I tested both systems at home and found the signal from my Bitstream device was twice as powerful as through the Alfa Camp resulting in faster speed tests. Bitstream has left the market, but the Ubiquiti products their system was based on are still available.

The Camp Pro 2 is a good solution for those times when your device’s internal antenna is just not strong enough to pull in a weak or distant public wifi signal. The system is easy to assemble, and setup of the Alfa router was flawless.

It is mounted on our RV ladder and we simply route the USB cord in through the slide out seal. We have used it in two different areas of the same RV park, one area very distant from any wifi tower and one area in a cluster of three repeaters.

The signal is nearly maxed in the cluster and was well over half strength in the distant zone. (In this area, the phone and laptop couldn’t even find the wifi signal!) The router allows our entire RV to link into one private hotspot and as long as we keep the park system logged in, we have full connectivity.

This park severely limits speed and types of access, so we cannot comment on speed, but none of the allowed content types have been slow or unusable. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a simple, cost-effective wifi extender for limited to part-time use.

I purchased this product for the purposes of increasing a weak campground Wi-Fi signal. I have relocated and I spend lots of time on my Chromebook searching out properties and homes. The Wi-Fi on steroids unit has provided me with exceptional performance.

I am not the most tech savvy person so I contacted the technical support line. Alone behold Mr Drake contacted me in a very short amount of time and walked me through the entire process. I would have to say that the exceptional customer service along with the size of this unit and the performance that it gives you with its cost could not be beat.

I would definitely purchase this unit again for use in other areas where it maybe required. I have lots of camping friends who I know could benefit from this. Sounds like some people will be getting wonderful birthday and Christmas presents.

Our home is a two level adobe (earthen walls @ 18 thick). WiFi would not reach to the 2nd level because of this. We bought this unit for repeating/extending the signal from the router in hopes to improve.

Instructions were step-by-step, but knowledge of my router s password was not fresh, leading to a call for support. Gary was VERY helpful in guiding me through and recognizing I needed to contact my ISP to learn my accurate password and to even create a more user friendly User/Password.

He said call back after your call to (CenturyLink) and we ll get this fixed. Once armed with good router info, I called Gary back and quickly completed the installation. The signal in the 2nd level is now FULL strength and we are enjoying ALL of our WiFi throughout the house.

I bought this to improve the WiFi signal in my winter resort casita. I have line of sight for the resorts wifi, less than 500 feet. I could get the WiFi on the rooftop deck but not inside. Set this up in the living room which faces the WiFi antenna.

It works great! I now have strong signal throughout the house. Setup was easy, just walked through the directions. The cell signal for my carrier is terrible here, less than 2Mbps download. I now am getting around 38Mbps.

Limited by what the resort is putting out. I will be taking this along in the Motorhome for the RV parks.

I’m in deep using the Google ecosystem, too deep to turn around, unfortunately. I own the Nest Wifi two points, Pixel 6, Android Auto devices, Nest hub, 5 x Chromecasts with Google TV, Google Homes, Nest Thermostats, Nest Protects, and countless other devices that connect my supposedly “smart” home powered by Google.

The Nest Wifi is beautifully designed, much like most of their product line. Unfotunelty the software is as buggy as ever. Google Assistant is always a mess, answering questions randomly, playing media, not turning on the correct devices, and so on.

The Wifi is stable but lacks improvements and features like Wifi6. Not nearly as fast as my previous Netgear router, but covers the house better. I’m always disappointed with Google’s push for new products and ambitious features that end up breaking other devices and “smart” capabilities.

How about you focus on creating and working out the countless software bugs on your current devices before moving on.

We bought the nest wifi to replace a 5/6 year old router. Had a fair amount of trouble getting the device setup initially. Worked with google support to 5 hours plus to get the nest router to connect to the internet.

Once connect, the wifi signal and speed has been great. The biggest issue has been maintaining an internet connect. Phones, laptops, and tablets need to continually turn the wifi off/on or even forget the network and reconnect just to get internet signal.

Never had this issue with our prior setup. It’s quite a nuisance when you try to browse the web or open an app and there’s no internet connection while connected to the wifi. For the price of the devices, one would think these issues wouldn’t exist but after reading multiple forums about the nest wifi system, it seems this is a fairly common issue.

Even while writing this review, I’ve had to turn off wifi on my phone to maintain internet connection. Disappointed to say the least.

There’s a lot to like about the Nest Wifi. Automatic speed tests. Easy to install and extend. “Good enough” configuration options. My problem is that it’s difficult to set up smart home devices with it.

A sizeable number of devices, for better or worse, require you to be on the same 2. 4GHz network during initial setup. Because you can’t force a connection to the 2. 4GHz band on either a modern Android phone or through the router’s configuration, you’re left to do cumbersome workarounds.

Google is aware of the situation, but they do not believe it needs to be addressed. Given that, I can’t recommend it. Imagine telling your elderly parents to go outside until their phone drops down to the 2.

4GHz band to set up a device. Now imagine that you are Google, and you think this is a “simpler” and more appropriate solution than adding an option in Android or Google Nest Wifi. It’s a 5-star device diminished by a zealous and misguided approach to “simplicity” that completely misses the point.

Very good in a moving truck across America, you can use a mimo antenna with Ts9 connectors or two seperate single line antennas in order to get LTE input output signal in case you drive down rural roads with poor coverage.

This model falls back on 3G when 4G or LTE or SPARK signals are poor. When ordering an antenna make sure you pick the Mhz range of 700-2600 to be sure to cover 2g through sprint Spark high frequency LTE signals.

I paid $15 for two magnetic mount antennas with 5db boost and I saw a one to two bar increase on the display and in fringe areas a boost up from 3g to 4g lte. This is a great option for those at home too that have to choose poor copper landline dsl internet or monopoly cable company outrageous prices.

Bring your own sim card and enjoy low cost high speed internet wherever you go. The micro usb port works as a usb tether as well if you want to do a direct connection to your laptop or your android HDTV box.

It will recharge at the same time it provides data. You can take the battery out and it will still remain powered in case you were wondering or you wanted to hotswap out the battery and not disconnect.

IF you want to bring it camping and will be gone for over 12 hours, you can bring a second battery for up to 12 hours servce per full charge. The replacement battery model number is W-1 1800mAh and 11.

6 volts. It holds up to your car’s cigarette lighter 11-14v output. Just use a good adapter to connect with surge protection built in to avoid toasting the battery.

I had the smaller Virgin Mobile hotspot for three years and it worked very well before finally burning up and dying. I switched to this one to be able to connect multiple devices. Forget it, you can’t even get one device working for more than three minutes.

It is constantly turning itself on and off, constantly disconnecting and reconnecting, although every time it says the signal strength is strong or very strong. so it can’t be due to lack of a signal, especially when the other device worked fine.

If you want to go on the internet you have to turn it on about ten minutes before and let it turn itself on and off a dozen or fifteen times before you can finally connect, but probably for only about ten minutes, then you will have no connection, but it will show one again, then Windows tells you you have to reset it, so you turn it off, turn it on, wait ten more minutes for it to do its thing.

This is a piece of junk. And of course, Virgin Mobile doesn’t sell any kind of antenna which might improve or stabilize this problem. I wondered why they also do not offer a plan with more GB, so you could use multiple devices, as if you really had ten devices that used 6 GB a month, you would have to pay $550 a month to connect them using this device.

now I know why, it isn’t possible to get ten devices working on this thing, by the time you would get all ten turned on, this would disconnect. This thing will have you reading the Fios and Comcast ads and calling the cable company to see what they offer.

I can not recommend this. Oh, it also doesn’t hold a charge for very long, at most a couple of hours. you really almost have to leave it plugged in. and, guess what?. they made the cord so short, it doesn’t reach from a plug on the floor to average table top level!! Buyer beware!!.

I bought this device because we were having issues with our home internet connection. I thought it would be good to use as a backup and to use on vacation, etc. Big mistake! I plugged it in to the wall to charge and all I got was the Virgin Mobile logo screen.

I waited for about an hour and checked but again there was only the Virgin Mobile logo screen. There was no battery indicator, connection status or anything else showing. I figured the thing was defective so I returned to the store to exchange it.

To my dismay, the second unit behaved the same way as the first. I called Virgin Mobile and after numerous reboots and popping the battery in and out multiple times there was no resolution. I called one last time and the tech said that it seemed as if both devices were defective.

I should have realized something was up because Virgin Mobile doesn’t offer the Mingle on their site anymore. I will be going back to the store to get my refund.

Speaking as a non Technical user I started out with a Router and single Wifi point last Year and that was simple to set up and monitor from the Google Home application. Over time and use I have added a few more smart gadgets and upgraded the ISP offering.

As our chalet home covers a relatively broad and flat plot I thought it sensible to reposition the existing Wifi point. This gave some improvement in signal quality. Adding the additional point to the mesh really raised the game, facilitates device use through the indoors.

in the garden and improves the continuity of Google outdoor camera monitoring. Once again I really cannot fault the User friendly set up and on line support available. The product is expensive yes – but it works with no fuss and enhances the efficacy of all devices using the Mesh wifi.

The Good: Wifi Speeds were amazing. Nice looking units that fit in nicely on a shelf with existing decor. Easy to do address reservations and port forwarding. The Bad: Limited Features. The router determines whether a device uses 2.

4 or 5ghz signal. Might be great for a regular user, but to me this is annoying because my new iPhone can connect to either, so the router placed it on a 2. 4 channel that yielded slower speeds and there was no way for me to change it like I can do with my old Nighthawk.

It has known compatibility issues with wireless Amcrest cameras (wish I would have known that since I have a system built around Amcrest), Satellite Signal Drops from base station constantly. I bought the system that has 3 satellites and live in a 4,000 sqft house yet they kept disconnecting.

App Issues – It took 3 hrs to get the app to work correctly to finalize setup (I have a nighthawk and am used to the app and it still gave me issues), The other issue with the App is that if you change a device name, it doesn’t translate to the Embedded UI.

Device connectivity to the satellites is an issue because when booting up the system, it seems that the router boots before the satellites thus having everything connect to the base (router). It would be nice if you could also manually move devices to the appropriate satellite, but you can’t do that.

I had a satellite in my finished basement that next to it was a smart TV and a Google Home, both of which would not connect to the satellite next to it, they connected to the router 1 level up. Very frustrating.

I read some blogs about turning signal strength down and that seemed to help, but my wifi range suffered in other areas. I have over 50 devices connected to my router between wired and wifi. I don’t think Orbi liked that many devices (35+ continuously active).

I also read about ways to get Orbi to communicate better by disabling MU-MIMO, but to me that defeats the purpose of a state of the art router. Lastly, Netgear Armor destroyed my connectivity and streaming capabilities.

In theory it was a great idea, but once I disabled it my speeds and streaming ability improved. I like Netgear products, but this one wasn’t for me. I went back to my Netgear Nighthawk X6 R8000 and it performs twice as good with my devices than the Orbi did (even thought I’m comparing Wifi 5 to the Orbi Wifi 6 which doesn’t even compare speedwise).

I think my next step will be the newest Wifi 6 Nighthawk Router. My advice is to do more research before buying Orbi if you’re a power user.

I purchased this product after seeing multiple positive reviews on tech review sites. There were some negative reviews on Amazon but there are always a few. I should have listened to what they said. When the Nighthawk Mesh extender arrived, I followed the installation instructions using the Nighthawk app.

The QR code didn’t scan correctly so I did a manual install. Unfortunately I had to stop when it mentioned using the “included” Ethernet cable, which wasn’t included. I then configured it using the WPS approach but none of my devices received any signal despite the extender appearing to transmit.

On my iPhone, I kept getting a separate security certificate error message and it didn’t receive internet either. I tried to go through the reconfiguration steps several more times and then called tech support.

After being on hold for almost an hour, I was connected to someone who said I needed to speak to a specialist. I was on hold for 30 more minutes. By this point, when I checked my computer, it seemed to be receiving a signal.

I couldn’t check my phone because I was speaking on it, but the tech support person said that the error message I got was nothing to worry about and it shouldn’t appear again. But the next day, it did and I couldn’t send email from my iPhone without shutting off the nighthawk extender.

I looked online for solutions and apparently this is a common, known problem with this extender and Apple products. All of the “solutions” being suggested on the community forum involved significant admin level changes to fix and many seemed to weaken network security.

As an IT professional, I’m perfectly capable of doing complex command language level changes, but not if it compromises my network security. Consequently, I ended up returning the product. The return process seems to have gone smoothly but I’ve not seen my charge refunded yet so I’m reluctant to say that it’s too easy.

Overall, I’d recommend going with a brand other than Netgear especially if you have Apple devices that you need to connect.

I bought this system because a friend of mine has it and because of the Netgear name. I have even talked a friend of mine to purchase this system on Cyber Monday which he did but was only able to purchase the Router and 1 Satellite instead of the two because the Cart would add it but when you try to go to the next step the cart was empty.

I even tried to purchase it for him and had the same results. I told him to purchase the Router and 1 Satellite to have this system at the reduced price. So I have tried to install the Router several times now and have had no connection between the Modem and the Router.

I have tried to power them up, unplug everything, used a different ethernet cord, moved the Router to a different location and still everything I tried the Router doesn’t connect to the TDS modem with an IP address.

The TDS Modem does put out TCP/IP to things that get plugged into it so I know that the TDS modem is working and that the ports on the back of it work. The TDS modem is a WiFi modem and I do not know if this is an issue but it shouldn’t be since the Netgear Modem is getting plugged directly into the TDS modem.

I do not know if my Netgear Modem is bad because the only way to trouble shoot this is to take it to work and plug it into that network to see if it can obtain an IP from that router. The person (friend of mine) who talked me into this system says that it one of the best and that he has no issues, my friend that I talked into buying this system is in his late 60’s so I guess I will have to go to his place and try to set his up because he is unable to, I think it is more that he is not a Techie so things are harder for him to do.

All in all, I wish I wasn’t having these issues because I believe that Netgear makes great stuff, I have bought Netgear back in the 1990’s when I hosted LAN party’s because they where the best, I hope that the issue is with TDS and not this unit but with the testing that I have done it is pointing to the Router and not my TDS modem.

The Google WiFi router has a great design, is small and can be placed anywhere. (i. e. tabletop, countertop or hidden on top of cabinets or furniture) and it doesn’t look like a typical router. It’s very easy to setup providing you don’t have a complex network or are looking for advanced routing features, For a typical home it’s more than sufficient and will provide you with fast WiFi speeds.

My only critique is you may find the “Meshing” distance to be less than advertised requiring more access points to fully cover your house. It’s advertised they should be approximately Two rooms apart from each other, however below are the advertised coverages, which I found to be completely different.

I have a standard “Stick” built home about 2700 square feet and I needed 6 Access Points to cover my house to get consistently fast WiFi Speeds. Yes, I probably could have used 2 Access Points, however in the rooms farthest from the Access point locations, I would get very slow speeds.

I’m sure every situation is unique, but I highly doubt you can obtain 100Mbps with only 2 A. P. ‘s for a 3k Sq. Foot house. The interface is very simple and designed for typical users, but it lacks advanced features. You cannot add simple things like a static route. Overall it’s a great design, functions well and has a great design.

Not reliable. Drops connection throughout the day and night. Worked great for the first year. But for the last 6 months, the connection drops all the time. Interrupts work calls, internet browsing, etc.

Resetting multiple times a day for wifi isn’t convenient or reasonable. Google has been aware of issue since last fall 2021 but no solution. Buy something else with your hard earned money.

This was bought as an addition to the existing 3 pack system in ~1500 sq feet ranch style house to improve wifi performance in a back room. That room already had one of these units but signal wasn’t as good as we’d like to.

Near the main unit I had around 100 Mb downstream , in that room – around 5-10. When I originally installed that system I had about 40 Mb there, then it went down no matter what I’ve tried. So I’ve decided to add another one in a middle so now I have only one wall and about 20 feet between these units.

Now I have about 11 Mb in that back room, no real improvement to speak of. I used to have Archer C7 who gave me great Wifi everywhere except in that room which was a primer reason I got this mesh system.

It costed me 3 times more than Archer, result is barely better. I understand results may vary depends on a structure of your place (I have older brick house) but this mesh system certainly under delivered.

Once setup the unit is very easy to use and understand. The Customer Support has been very good so far with fast responses and helpful guidance especially when the device took a little longer than expected to arrive.

Customer support was there all the way. I also like the fact that while I waited for the device the additional 8GB that was not on the original purchase would given to me. I though this was a nice touch.

Seems to work well. Only glitch was it needed a software update to function. You are supposed to use your home WiFi to download the update, but, I did not have WiFi at home. Tried downloading over public WiFi, did not work.

Borrowed a friend’s WiFi, and I had no problem downloading the update. Bottom line, it seems to work ok, but you better have WiFi available to update.

Pretty easy and simple to use, but you have to pay for the GB and depends on how many GB you wanna choose , it works local pretty good. I havent try out of other location yet, while driving i used this for my google map is much better than I use LTE via Tmobile and with no problems at all.

Anyway is a great technology!.
