20 Best Wifi Temperature Sensor (2022 Updated)

I recently purchased a H5179 to alert me when the interior hot tub temperature drops below a specific threshold during the winter, since we don’t use it during the winter while we are on vacation. When the alert is triggered, I do receive a notification on my Samsung S10, the message indicates that the alarm setpoint has been breached, but the actual temperature is not indicated, i.

e. I do not know by how much. Also, there is no email alert despite Govee having my address. It turns out that all the other features only work via Bluetooth (BT) which means I have to be within BT range, i.

e. in close proximity. When I receive an alert the natural reaction is to verify the current temperature and the temperature trend to estimate the amount of time I have to take action. If you are remote, you cannot access the current readings, nor can the settings be changed, nor can the data be downloaded.

You will only see the historical temperature chart which is of little benefit in this scenario. I subsequently reviewed the advertisement for this product and to be fair the capabilities can be interpreted in more than one way.

The other curious observation is that this device does not register on my Google Nest Router, which means it is not getting an IP address from the Router’s DHCP service. This explains why I cannot access the H5179 features remotely.

When I asked Govee to confirm my observations they sent me a replacement unit which works the same way as the original unit. On a positive note, the Govee application is quite good, the sensor seems to be reliable, the alerts seem to be reliable, the CSV download works well so there are plenty of positive attributes.

Your specific use case will determine if this product will work for you.

I have several of these Govee wifi thermo-hygrometer sensors working within the Govee App and I am very impressed by their performance. Unlike some other reviewers, I am not finding any wifi connectivity problems at all and can access the graphical data at any time from anywhere I happen to be, even abroad.

I have also tested the accuracy of the Relative Humidity sensor readings using saturated salt solutions of Magnesium Chloride Hexhydrate 100% PH. Eur (33%RH) and Sodium Chloride 99. 9% BP (75%RH) at 20 +/-2degC.

The results were exceptionally good with the device cosistently reading 35. 5% RH and 74. 9% RH respectively after between 24 and 48 hrs. The reaction times were not properly tested but the device appeared to react quite rapidly when placed above each solution and given that the specification is +/- 3% RH the readings reached to within these limits in an acceptable time period.

Temperature accuracy was not tested but, given that simple error compensation (albeit assuming linearity) is possible within the app, these devices appear to me to be excellent value for money. One device is positioned in a chill cabinet located in a separate garage and the quality of the signal is still good.

I can definitely recommend these excellent little devices.

I bought the WS1 to monitor my greenhouse temperature, humidity, light level and outdoor temperature. In conjunction with the external temperature probe (separate purchase), it is doing just this. I was unsure how well it would communicate from the greenhouse to my house approximately 10 m away.

The indicated signal shown on the very good app and online console is typically -75dBm, which hasn’t dropped the connection in the days since installing it. I should also add that initial setup is a breeze.

This product is a very good introduction to the IoT.

Still sitting on a shelf. Ridiculously complicated software and the manual is no help. I know they work, we have one that my son programmed. If you don’t have a “techie” to help, you’re wasting your money.

I needed to have my device on-line as soon as I received it. The Ubibot GS1-AETH1RS Digital Thermometer does not come with a power supply and, despite the advert stating that it is USB-C, the plug is a circular cross section.

Very disappointed that this is not plug and play and that the advert is misleading.

The monitor works extremely well. The interface is a great design, and the data is amazing.

We needed a transparent way to inform our workforce and put the decision making in their hands.

The Nest Temperature Sensors are a great addition to the Nest Learning Thermostat. The 3-pack is perfect for a home the size of mine to have just the right amount control and as you Nest learns your preferences, it will get even better over time.

If you have a 2-stage or more variable speed system, it is AMAZING! Although, we have just a 1200sqft (111 sqm) single story home, there are still temperature fluctuations from space to space. These little devices turn your thermostat into a multi-zone system affordably.

At a minimum, you can control your comfort based on your room use, versus heating the whole house based on “location of your thermostat”. For example, at night, when you want your bedroom cool, the Nest will heat the space according to that small room’s sensor versus the heating the entire ambient temperature of the house.

Vice versa, if you are sitting in the great room during the day, reading a book, where it might heat up faster due to sunlight coming into large windows, the device can be installed in that space to give you the control to adjust according to those ambient factors resulting in the furnace running less often.

Downside, if your system is old, single stage system, it will not deliver optimal performance.

These are kinda pointless. I wanted to be able to put the thermostat temperature based off of the room I am in and how we live in the house but it fails if you move it off of the set schedule. So even if you use your house differently on the weekends vs the week you are stuck with one schedule of sensors at set times which you can not customize.

I have called and tried to get this fixed but they were no help. For example my wife is out of town for work so I move the comfort level sensor to one closer to my desk but it will move back to the scheduled sensor well before the next set move time.

And you can’t even change the move times. Which are set for 7-11am, 11am-4pm, 5-9pm, 9pm-7am. So you have to try and play a game of what temperature to set another room for to make it comfortable in the room you are in even with a sensor.

This is what I wanted to get away from when I purchased the thermostat and sensors. So save your money and just continue to play a guessing game of what temperature to set the thermostat at to be comfortable in your house.

The app does allow you to schedule the change in temperature every 15 minutes but not to a different sensor since those times are locked in place. Just a disappointment that Google can’t program their software to make this work.

This Nest Temperature Sensor does exactly what it says, and nothing more — measures the temperature in another room, and allows you to select that room’s temperature instead of the temperature measured at the thermostat.

It was very easy to setup and install using the Nest app and the included wall hanging screw. It has maintained its connection to my Nest Thermostat E without issue. That’s about all the praise I have for this sensor.

It does what it says it’ll do well. What it doesn’t do is pretty frustrating. You cannot set a custom schedule for when your thermostat should use the sensor’s temperature; you can only select from four pre-determined time blocks.

They are unchangeable and apply to every day of the week. There is no flexibility for weekends or for non-traditional schedules. something even a basic programmable thermostat offers. You also cannot ask your Google Assistant or Alexa devices for the temperature at a sensor: they can only read out the temperature displayed on the thermostat.

You also cannot tell the thermostat to balance temperatures across sensors, like you can with Ecobee products. You can only tell Nest to use the thermostat temperature or the temperature at a sensor.

It would be nice if the software could average temperatures across sensors so all rooms are relatively comfortable. Finally, the temperature sensor really does only sense temperature — no motion sensing or humidity sensing (again, something offered by Ecobee).

I do enjoy the ability to see how the temperature varies across rooms throughout the day, but it would be nice to see humidity values in other rooms, too. Motion sensing would make up for the inability to set a custom schedule in the Nest software but that would obviously require a hardware change.

It is my hope that a future Nest software upgrade will allow for customizable scheduling, making it possible to use your sensor temperatures and thermostat temperatures in a way that fits your lifestyle.

Until then, all this sensor can really do is tell you the temperature somewhere else (unless the four predetermined time blocks work for your lifestyle). If that extra knowledge is worth the price to you, you’ll find this a well-made and easy to use product.

Otherwise, I might wait for Google/Nest to make these more useful before spending your money.

I had previously owned the Honeywell T5 Smart Thermostat and was happy with how it operated for the most part for a number of years. When it started to have some connectivity issues I decided it was time to upgrade.

I debated getting the “Amazon Smart Thermostat” since it was created by Honeywell, and the price was good, but I was swayed over the to the T9 because of some the Amazon Thermostat limitations, and I liked some of the additional features the T9 has.

First off if you are upgrading from any of the Honeywell T-Series thermostats (or the Amazon one for that matter) the wall plate is exactly the same so you just unplug the old one and plug the new one in.

in my house I have a radiant heat boiler for heating, and a forced draft AC. So basically two separate systems for heating a cooling. The T9 not only is able to combine them in a single thermostat, but it is able to understand that the blower fan should not come on when the heater is working.

Also during the set up it verified if it was a hot water or steam heat system. That was a first for any of my thermostats past or present. Setting the thermostat up is pretty straight forward. It connected to my wireless (2,4Ghz) just fine, even though I have a mesh WiFi network, and that is not always the case with many devices that require 2.

4Ghz). It also completed the set up BEFORE it performed a software upgrade. So I did not have a three minute pause in the middle waiting for software updates. I already had the Honeywell home application on my cellphone, so adding the new thermostat to my account was a breeze.

It would have been nice if there was a way to clone my schedule over from the old one, but that is not really a big deal. Overall it works great and looks nice on the wall, and so far I am not having any of the connectivity issues that showed up on the T5.

Other thoughts: – I appreciate that you can use the thermostat to perform a majority of the settings instead of being forced to use the phone app like a lot of other units like the Nest line. Exceptions being things like Geofencing that is tied to the cell phone, or Honeywell account settings.

– The display is bright by default. I mean really bright. I ended up turning my non-active display all the way down to 10% (from 70%) and the sleep mode to 0% at night since there is no reason for it to light up the room after 9:30 at night if you are not interacting with it.

– Alexa works great with the T9, and if you have remote sensors, you ask Alexa the temp in the individual rooms you have them installed. – If you use the remote sensors you can prioritize the heating an cooling a few different ways such as the average temp in you select it to throughout the house, the temp in the room you have sensors if it detects movement, or you can pick one sensor and make it the room that the thermostat uses to manage it’s heating and cooling.

If you have multiple people living in the house, you will need everyone to have the app installed if you want to use Geofencing properly, or else the one phone you have it installed on, will control the home/away mode.

Overall, this smart thermostat works well. With the optional additional temperature sensors that can be placed around the house, I am able to program the thermostat to respond to temperature in different areas of my two story home depending on the time of day.

The upstairs is always warmer than the downstairs, but I can have the control respond to the downstairs temperature during the day and the upstairs temperature at night. I can also program the A/C fan to run on call, intermittently, or continuously – something I was not able to do with my previous smart thermostat.

That helps even out the temperature across the two stories as I transition from day to night. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the interface on the app and on the thermostat itself needs some improvement.

The app always shows the main thermostat on the first screen instead of the sensor that it is using to control the AC. You have to click through two screens to see all the sensors. It has 4 default schedule blocks that you can’t rename (but you can disable), but you can add your own additional schedule blocks.

The thermostat itself shows the set temperature. You have to touch it to see the actual temperature. Otherwise, it works great and has all the standard features of other smart thermostats. Temps reported on the main unit and the sensor seem to be accurate to within 1 degree of a bulb thermometer.

I installed it myself, but had to add the C wire, so it took about an hour overall. I’ve had it a month now, and am satisfied overall. I haven’t tried the geofencing, and so far it’s just been doing cooling (no heating).

I’ve also used the vacation setting, and was able to check on the temperatures in house while I was across the country.

My system: Geothermal Heat Pump with Energy Recovery Ventilator and electric Aux heat This is a very good thermostat, but the reason I can’t give it five stars is because the built in temperature differential (1.

5 degrees F) and cycle rate are not quite adequate for a geothermal system. I appreciate that you can select a geothermal system in the settings, but it seems like the cycle rate is about 3 times per hour when selected.

It should be less. Here’s why: Geothermal systems take a lot of time to heat up/cool down when the system turns on. In heat mode, for instance, it may take 10-12 minutes for the output air to go from 70 degrees to 100 degrees.

If the thermostat only stays on for 7 or 8 minutes, it never achieves maximum efficiency. And no one buys a geothermal system unless they want maximum efficiency. With short cycle times on a geothermal system, you are taking an incredibly efficient and expensive heat pump system and running it at 50% efficiency.

For Geothermal heat pumps, the thermostat should keep the system on for at least 15 minutes. At a minimum, the user should be able to select a higher temperature differential (up to 3. 5 degrees?) manually, or a minimum on or off time, or a lower cycle rate.

This could be a simple software update for existing thermostats. For most systems, the default settings on this thermostat are perfectly sufficient. But for Geothermal, it would be nice to have the option to change them.

That would make the T9 thermostat 5 stars for sure. Please update the software with these options for geothermal heat pumps!.

This is a must have for the cigar aficionado. Quick easy setup takes 3 minutes right out of the box, download the app place in your humidor and bam your recording data and looking at the inside environment of your humidor any where in your home.

Set parameters for temp and humidity and you phone will warn you if they get out of range. Actually fun to watch the data in a graph by hour, day, week, month. And you can add the WiFi to it and get real-time looks from anywhere in the world! This thing is great! You wont regret buying it.

The Sensor Push does appears to do what it says it does and gives lots of useful data: temperature, humidity, timeline for both, trend of the data (falling, rising), daily average, easy naming of sensor, distribution, number of samples saved, battery voltage at temperature, last seen reading, status of update, last seen strength and the ability to export data as a CSV just to highlight the readily known features.

Small compact design with a handy little loop for easy suspension.

I have 2 from you and will buy 2 more and the gate way. I had them both in my cigar humidor with Boveda packs. The sensors were very accurate in RH and temp. The boveda puts out a exact humidity and these were spot on.

I was always sceptic about this kind of gadget but this made me change my mind. I thought of giving it a try and lo and behold, it does its job quite well. The front of my apartment faces the sun in the first part of the day, till noon or more really, and the temperature in the front rooms tends to get really high.

Setting this gadget, through the Switchbot app, to close the Curtains when the temperature reaches a certain level did the trick of reducing the time the Air Conditioner is on and thus I am saving on electricity.

Furthermore, I managed to keep a constant humidity in the rooms. I think I shall get another one for the other rooms now. By the way, it integrates quite well with Google Assistant but had some trouble with Alexa.

The latter refuses to acknowledge its presence and reports the wrong temperature. I did not have any trouble with Google Assistant.

I ordered the temp/humidity unit for a remote house. Needless to say, it is working very well, reporting to Google Home upon request. It needs the minihub, which is doing double duty with the switchbot curtain unit.

I wished it had a USB powersource option, however.

I moved my original (smaller) SwitchBot meter for a different use, and replaced with the new Meter Plus in a central area in our home. It’s easy to setup and connect with other SwitchBot products, and the larger display makes it much more convenient to quickly glance at for the info.

This is the first time I have given a dissatisfaction review. The product looks great and comes with everything you need including an adapter for the C cable if your current equipment doesn’t have it.

The instructions are super explained so having mounted other smart pense thermostats was an easy task. It was impossible for me to make my thermostat work since at the time of configuring it reached the step of connecting to the Wi-Fi.

but it did not go from there, it did not connect to the house in the app and it no longer let me do anything and it was running it needs to be in the app to be able to control it. I wasted all day trying to connect, even checking my times that the Wi-Fi connection was necessary and if it is.

I gave up after long hours, being a new product what I got on the Internet was the same as what was in the instructions and that they came from the company. The frustration was great and I had to go on a trip so I will wait a bit to see if the people or the company will put more things that help in the process.

Vulvo and I comment the product is visibly spectacular but in my case until now I could not put it to work.

I purchased this meter for my son’s room so I could be sure that the temperature didn’t drop too much during the night. I had intended linking it to turn on and off a heater if the temperature went too low but it appears that the insulation in the room is working well and this is not required.

The meter is working well. I verified it against another meter and it appears accurate. My only gripe would be the charts that are displayed on the switchbot app for the meter. When you open the app it clearly displays the temperature and humidity which is great but to go back on a night or a week’s data is a bit fidgety and awkward to pinpoint temperatures at certain times.

This is probably more of an opportunity for the switchbot app as opposed to the meter. The meter itself works really well, is nice and small and very easy to setup. Well worth the investment. At the price paid (and such delivery) I’m likely to purchase more in future.

Have brought 6 in total for my house. Each work a treat. Have them in each of the bedrooms to helps keep track of them temps and humidity which really helps in winter time and also in summer if it’s to humid.

But I also have one in my 3D printer area so I can keep track of my filament temps which is really important. Otherwise they can go bad and not be used it not kept the right temp. Which helps so much.

Also because it can be monitored remotely I can check when away from the house and I can switch a room heating on as well if I needed.

I have owned a couple of these meters for a few years now, and just purchased a third. They are an inexpensive, reliable, and effective device. I use them with the active alerting, to enable automations that run dehumidifiers, fans, or heaters, depending on the situation.

I have happily recommended these to friends and family, and will deffinetly purchase more when required. I do hope that SwitchBot would build on the success of this meter to build one for outside use.

I bought this about a month ago. Since I did read some incorrect information I would like to mention my own practical observations. On the Garmin website you will find if your Garmin device is compatible with it.

Not everything is, regardless of whether it has Ant+ or Bluetooth or not. I was worried about the temperature range. It measures up to -30 degrees of Celsius probably also lower but -30 I have tried myself with it.

It is very susceptible to sunlight. So try to keep it on the shadowy side of your equipment. It is supposed to be white or silver, not matte black. It precision of measurement is to one decimal place (for example -26.

3) however Garmin Connect handles only the whole degree (e. g. integer number). If you take it out of the warm car it takes 15-20 minutes for the temperature to drop to real outside values. Overall I like it very much!.

I have had a Tempe sensor for a few years and have found it very useful for measuring the temperature of many things. It works fine with my 66SR as it did with my 64S/etrex30x/Oregon 750. Apart from measuring the temperature out of general interest I have used it to measure the temperature of a lake in the Pyrenees, (just tested this in my garden pond – up to 5.

5 cm depth fine, beyond that no guarantees !!) the air temperature of a snow walk in the Dolomites and how hot it was on a sunny walk in Crete. I have read some reviews complaining about its accuracy.

If read sensibly it will be a good friend. If it is hanging on the back of your rucksack and you’re walking into the sun it will read lower than if you are walking away from the sun. Play with it. Place it inside and outside beside your house digital thermometer and see what it reads in comparison to those measurements.

I consider it to just as accurate as any other thermometer that I have. I have also read about people losing them. It sits in quite a tight cradle around which I put a couple of small cable ties. Just be careful with it.

I have it hanging in a tiny bag on the back of my rucksack away from any body heat. Best thing I can say about it is that if I ever do lose it I’ll be chasing down another one – immediately.

Great temp sensor and I’ve used it while camping on the snow. Works great for me and my Garmin Etrex 32x GPS connects to it easy. During the snow camp the temp went down to -4 Celsius at JB Plain near Mt Hotham.

This was great to help me sleeping in my new sleeping bag what can be used for up to negative 5 Celsius. Will use this for future hikes and camps for sure.

I wanted this for the winter with outside temps really cold in the teens and even going down around zero, I need this to keep tabs on the outside temp to know when I will need to run water to keep pipes from freezing.

The station works best at eye level or slightly below for brightness of backlight. I prop mine so its not leaning back but standing straight up. The clock, date , inside and outside are all different colors and bright.

, plus the numbers are large expecially the outside numbers which interest me most. Also this thing is accurate hitting right on the local intellicast readings exact or maybe off 1 degree. But it does only stay lit when you plug in the adaptor, if you use just batteries then you hit the light button and its on for 10 sec.

The station sits at one angle only and I would like to see them make it adjustable.

Six months into use the indoor station is unable synchronize with the outdoor sensor. Nothing works, including re-setting the unit. On LaCrosse website they reccomend to install ” Brand Name Alkaline battery dated at least 7 years in advance (super, ultra, max, heavy duty and rechargeable types should be avoided).

” Considering that the batteries do not last more than a couple of months, and uses 2 AA for the sensor and another 2 AA for the indoor unit, this does not make sense. Why the design a unit that cannot use regular rechargeable batteries is beyond me! On top of that the LCD display of the indoor station is barely visible when using battery power alone, so but default it requires that you keep it plug (near an outlet) all the time.

If these two issues are fixed this could be a nice unit.

Purchased for little old lady next door. She’s thrilled. She says she has no problem seeing the numbers. And that it gives her just the facts!

The product is excellent. I purchased it before they had the Canadian provinces or anything Canadian in the app. When I contacted Temp Stick the information was updated within 24 hours. As long as you test the batteries and ensure that there is life in the battery the product is outstanding and has never failed us.

It is also good as sump pit monitor. Point one of the cameras at your sump pit. Put a ball on the top of your sump pit. If the ball moves this is an indication there is activity in the sump pit. It works and more reason to get the Temp Stick.

Easy to set up, very accurate in comparison to other units set up in the same space. Ability to check humidity levels remotely is a great thing. Im considering another. Certainly, it is not as cheap as the myriad versions available from China- but Ive committed to buying USA whenever the option exists.

The extra cost is reflected in the quality and flexibility of the instrument. If your humidity situation is important, dont skimp on this critical measuring device. You get what you pay for.

The temp stick seems to need a very strong signal. Even when every other wifi device in our house is working perfectly, temp stick spends the majority of it’s time off line. Pretty useless. Disappointing.

Fabulous when it works tho.

I ordered directly from UbiBot and paid in USD. I was contact the day after ordering as they spotted I was in the UK and so arranged for my order to be fulfilled from the local distributor. Super quick and tracked delivery.

I’ve been using the WS1 Pro along with some external probes and had an issue where data stopped being reported. I raised as support ticket and had excellent response from the support team and ultimately got the issue resolved in very little time.

I’m also using the light sensor built into the device to trigger automation using IFTTT (if the exterior light goes below a certain level to turn on a bunch of smart lighting inside the house). This is in addition to already having alerts when probes detect certain temperature limits and detecting when power is tripped and the unit is being powered by batteries.

These alerts are shown by push alert to the app as well as emails. I have only just started to look at the APIs to do even more monitoring to trigger automation or alerts or even to manipulate data on an external webpage.

I honestly have found this an excellent investment and am already finding more ways to make use of the extremely rich feature set. I’m hoping to add the wind sensor just as soon as it’s released for the WS1 pro.

Not useful in USA as temperature on display unit can only be shown in Celcius not Fahrenheit which makes the display unit useless for me. I might as well just place the unit out of sight and just export the recorded data occasionally.

Similarly, temperatures written to the export file are in Celcius which need to be converted manually to Fahrenheit to be used. Stores sensor readings every five minutes but not at 5-10-15. times past the hour etc.

I need to change these times to align with readings from other devices such as ecobee thermostat. Writes entries for Light, WiFi, Voltage etc. on separate rows of the export file which makes it difficult to insert the data into my database.

If I had known these restrictions I would not have bought the WS1 Pro.

This is a pretty clever device and does what it claims to do. My only disappointment with the unit is that built-in reporting isn’t very good. The graphs on the ubibot portal aren’t very flexible (for example, can’t adjust the y axis, can’t select which values to report, and they are kind of ugly).

Highly recommend this device if you need a unit that captures AND locally stores the data until it goes back on line. The power input situation is kind of awkward. There are two USB ports and to use both as input ports and one as a power port you have to buy an overpriced and custom splitter.

The device would be a better value if there was a seperate power port, allowing you to use both input ports. And finally, it would be nice if the documentation (and portal) was more professional. Besides being confusing, there are typos and grammatical errors in the materials.

It doesn’t look like much care or polish was given to the product.

Fantastic, accurate device to monitor your home’s temp and humidity from anywhere! This is much better than bluetooth-only monitors that you can only check if you’re within bluetooth range. Because it uses your wifi, you can use the Govee Home app to check from anywhere in the world! Very solid at this price!.

Suggestion: the easiest way to install a spigot on a closed top barrel is after you drill a hole, insert a piece of string or wire through faucet hole then out top bung hole. Slide internal parts of faucet down the string to position through the bottom hole.

Attach outer part of faucet snugly.

These cushions are nicer than I expected for the price. Nice memory foam covered with good quality fabric. Im very pleased with them.

I thought I’d done my research and found a product to help control an automated garden but this is a monitoring device only. Although it has “Alexa” compability, it is only for temperature, not humidity.

Does not integrate with automation systems like Home Assistant. Humidity reporting seems higher than my other sensors but it can be calibrated for temp and humidity so that is great. I would score the hardware at 5 stars.

If you only need to view temp and humidity, it’s very high quality. The battery lasts a long time. The app has good features like full history for different times (hour, day week etc. ). The ability to export out of the app is very useful.

Unfortunately, the infrastructure supporting it is not ready for prime time. Great monitor but pretty much useless for automation. If humidity worked in Alexa, I could band-aid something outside of Home Assistant but even that feature has not been implemented.

Edit: Changed rating from 3 to 4 bc it really is a good product, it just doesn’t do what I need.

Wanted something for the winter months to monitor if the temp dropped below a certain level and risking the caravan pipes freezing. I also have a smart switch and small heater ready to switch on remotely if I get the ‘ping’ warning me of the cold.

It was also interesting to follow the recent scorching temps that showed it was much cooler at the coast than at home. Still on the first battery in the caravan unit (close to 12 months now). You can only change the warning parameters by Bluetooth, so you do have to be with the unit to change these, but this isn’t a deal breaker.

I like the graphical data sets too so if you’re a budding meteorologist you have something to play with. Reliable and stable WiFi connection hasn’t let me down at all. Easy to give 5 stars for this unit and have just bought another for the house (the recent unit this review was meant for).

I bought direct from Govee as they beat Amazon on price too, so do look before shelling out.

Prior to the T9 System, I purchased the Honeywell Lyric T5. This system had several attractive features – automatic thermostat controlled by an app which would allow geofencing which is turning on the thermostat when I came into a customizable proximity to my home.

This worked well. I was able to figure out the thermostat C-wiring from YouTube videos. The problem with this configuration was that room temperatures were based upon where the fixed thermostat which was located in the hallway where no one stays for a prolonged time.

I needed a room sensor and at the time the Ecobee 3 was a good option & had high satisfaction ratings so I purchased it. but never installed it. Why? The wiring videos & diagrams were much more complicated than the Honeywell System – in my opinion, regular guy with no electrical wiring skills to speak of.

Fast forward a few months later and I learned that Honeywell came out with a T9 with remote room sensors. Advertising says you can link or hook up to 20 remote sensors. I really only needed two – master bedroom & family room.

Set up was easy, simply replace the T5 with the T9 – no rewiring needed. Sync the thermostat to my home WiFi & upload the App to my smartphone. Programming the T9 was very easy & intuitive! Placing sensors about 5 from thetop of a vaulted ceiling also easy.

The T9 system sensors detect motion in the room and can activate the thermostat based on room activity/occupancy. You can also prioritize which rooms to heat via the thermostat or App based on activity as well.

Overall, the T9 Thermostat & 2 Sensors were similar to what I paid for the Ecobee 3. You can find great deals on eBay for the T9 or additional sensors well below typical in store retail costs. The Honeywell T9 & Sensors are well worth it! My heating/cooling bill is much more controlled and in-line with my needs! If youre thinking about this system, my recommendation is to buy it! The seamless setup made this a no brainer. It works well with our T9 thermostat to either prioritize temperature in a room or even balance, though the balance feature would likely even be more useful with additional sensors.

This sensor I highly recommend. we put one in every bedroom and the system works perfectly together. It’s very easy to install and the motion sensor also works perfectly. This system will cost you less than other systems on the market but the functionality is top notch.

Tiny, quick response, WiFi allows access everywhere ( vs. Bluetooth), good precision, and very useful for monitoring remote conditions. in our newest encapsulated crawlspace. Superior to everything else Ive tried thus far.

An excellent device for anyone who is serious about their cigars. Easy to set up and use, and you can monitor your humidor from anywhere.

This item is just what I was looking for. Not too complicated and easy to set up. It takes a bit of time for the outside sensor to adjust to the current temperature but when it does, it seems to be very accurate.

I checked it against several other thermometers and both the temperature and humidity readings were within 2% of them. Bluetooth distance seems good also.

Tried 2 different sensors, each off 15% – 20%. Ran tests/reset as prescribed with no results. Compared with weather station and additional outside source, and placed in different locations. The AcuRite sensors were never even close to other data sources.

I was pleased to be able to buy a Acu-Rite wireless instrument that indicates both temperature and humidity at such a reasonable price. And it seems to work very well. Its only drawbacks are minor and will not matter to everyone.

First, the display unit is smaller than others I have had (approx. 2. 5 x 3 inches) and since it is displaying two parameters vice one, the numbers (approx. 6 inch) may be considered small by some. Second, as with many similar displays, when not viewed nearly straight-on, the numbers can appear faint.

Excellent, accurate digital thermometer & clock. The WS-9160U-IT accepts input from 3 external sensors in addition to the indoors temperature, which allows me to monitor 3 floors indoors, plus the outdoors temperature from receivers I have on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

Easy to pair the units too. You just put the AA batteries in the sensor (transmitter), then put the AAA batteries in the receiver. If you have additional sensors, just put the batteries in the 2nd sensor once the first one shows up, and then into the third after the second one shows up.

Keep them together for 15 minutes so they can establish their sync patterns, then place them where you want them. Then you just press the Channel (“CH”) button to chose which sensor you want to see the reading from while the “indoors” temperature indicates the temperature in the room the base unit (with the LCD screen) is located in.

Range is over 100 yards (300 feet). These are great. !.

This was a gift for a low-tech person. I thought I had ordered one just like I had, but this was slightly different. I was disappointed at first that it didn’t have an atomic clock (and still am), and in the fewer items on the display than my own thermometer had.

But for the person who got this, I think this is almost perfect, because it’s easy to read and does the job without having to fiddle much with buttons, settings, and so on. Also this model has the buttons on the front panel, and mine has the buttons on the back.

This means I have to pick mine up to check features like channels, max/min, etc. So this one turned out to be a better choice for that person. It has a stand to use if you want to put it on a shelf, or can be hung up.

These seem to be pretty accurate, too. I had the idea of putting the remote sensor under the floor or in outbuildings to monitor the temp, especially in freezing or very hot weather. A very handy thing.

Purchased two (2) systems. When energized with proper batteries, one system took 6 hours to display equal temps with the outside temp sensor and the inside sensor sitting side by side. Further analysis prior to placing these in service – Temps are showing 2 to 3 degrees difference sitting side by side.

I wish to have a system that displays the accurate temp to the one degree!!! This system does NOT meet that requirement. Additionally, I believed from the Walmart website display that I had ordered a system with different channels available for the outside transmitter.

NO???.

This is a 1-way sensor, for the life of its battery (years. ) it will ping out a packet of information every 30 seconds containing the current temperature, 24h max, and 24h min. You can set up your Garmin devices to receive this information when they’re in range, as many as you like.

Beyond that, there is no flexibility. There is no ability to request a temperature reading from the device, you just have to wait for the next successful ping, which, from my experience, may be just 3 or 4 successful receipts out of 10 sent.

For this reason, people are often very frustrated when trying to “connect” to the sensor. When you start an event that includes data from the sensor, it can sometimes take a couple of minutes before it starts receiving information from the sensor.

If you understand this limitation, you won’t be frustrated. Just be patient. This little device is really useful, it’s just not perfect.

I have been using the Tempe temperature sensor for a while now with my Oregon 450. It works just fine. The battery cover requires a little finesse to get on and off, but it’s not a show stopper. The setup was simple enough and since it’s operation is automatic, it is simple enough to use.

As for being a good value, I would say yes only because of the price I paid at eBay. I had seen it for more and in some cases for quite a bit more. I don’t believe I would consider it “good value” at some of the higher prices.

As for reliability, it works without interruption, but the temperature I receive using it differs slightly (a degree or two) from what others I hike with show with their devices. Since there are any number of factors that could cause the difference, including their devices not being accurate, I cannot fault the Tempe.

All in all I like it and would buy it again at a price at or near what I paid for mine!.
