20 Best Wind Spinners 2022 (2022 Updated)

I read some of the negative reviews and almost didn’t make this purchase. That would have been a sizable mistake because this really is a unique piece that adds a great deal to the patio area I recently built.

It is something I would purchase again and/or recommend to a friend. There is a great deal of wind in my backyard and the fan blades spinning in multiple directions is interesting to watch. The base unit that comes with the Wind Spinner is not adequate for the wind in my backyard.

Although I dug a substantial hole and cemented the base, the pole would tilt in heavy wind. I decided to dig out the unit and sink a 6″ X 6″ X 6′ pressure treated post into the ground with about 4′ protruding from the grounds surface.

I drilled out a hole on the top of the post and inserted the top two sections of the Wind Spinner into that hole ensuring that there was sufficient clearance for the rotating blades to circulate without and obstruction from the post.

That completely eliminated the tilt in the base pole and made for a much more attractive addition to my backyard. This is an extremely nice product.

Got this for my parents. They like to sit outside and watch the birds at the bird feeders and just enjoy the outside. Thought they would like this as a nice whimsical addition to the garden. We love it, but the directions were lousy as I said before.

We put the blades on backwards so the soldiers joints were rubbing on the nut and making it go tight. At 2:00 AM, I had an epiphany that the blades could be on backwards. They were. Also, it should come with a couple of fender washers and a bit of white lithium grease to make things move smoother, but a person can go to a hardware store easy enough to get that stuff.

Update to directions are as follows: Small dab or lithium grease on the axle Put the blade on the axle with the soldier joints to the back of the piece. Add a fender washer and a little bit more grease on the fender washer so they do not rub.

Attach the nut and finally the blossom cap, backing off the nut just a bit to lock the cap onto the threads. Repeat the other side.

I have assembled two of these spinners and mis-assembled it each time. Though the instructions are not incorrect, they do not emphasize this critical error you might make and result in many of the “faiures” i have read in these reviews.

Make sure that the wheel hub goes onto the axel in the proper config. The bearing is contained in a housing, it has a “domed” side and a “flared” side. Make sure the domed side faces inward toward the center post.

Then affix it with the nut and decorative hub after you slide it on the axel (in that order). Now the flared side will face outward showing the bearing retainer ring. Some models may just have a lock washer and the decorative hub which is OK.

I would recommend lubricating the bearing with any type of heavy oil or grease to help bearing life and keep water from entering. I only wish the factory would do a better job of balancing the wheels.

This garden spinner is very attractive and because it is metal is very sturdy. I love how it looks in my garden. I rated it four stars instead of five, because it does not spin even in a fairly strong wind.

It works for me because I like the colors and how it adds a pop of color to my outside decor. But they don’t really “spin”…so if you are looking for decorative, I recommend.

Hi quality product! Extremely happy with this product! I received one as a gift 4 years ago and it still looks brand new. Because of this I decided to gift the spinners to my sister-in-laws this year!! Hopefully they will stand up as well as mine has!! Love it! I was a little worried about the condition of the spinners when they arrived as the boxes were somewhat damaged but the spinners seem to be just fine!.

This is a large spinner, very pretty to look at. I bought it about two years ago. It is in my back yard with three other spinners, next to my porch. It gets enough breeze to turn, but never did turn allot, and it is not directly in the open, does have some protection, but last week one whole wheel broke from the center and was just hanging there and all the pieces where the birds are connected have broke off from the center of the wheels on both wheels and we put them in the garage if high winds are expected.

I called customer service and they said I could replace the wheels for $20. 00 each, I have allot of money invested in this spinner already and they think I should spend another $40. 00 and watch it break down the same as the first one did.

I was very disappointed that they didn’t even offer to do anything, but get more money from me. I bought one other spinner from them and one wheel had to be replaced in just a few months, because the gear was shot.

, they did send a new one. The tree of life is nice to look at, does not light up and is very top heavy. My husband even put an extra tie down and staked it out to hold it steady, but it still is all broke up, can’t be repaired.

Not happy at all with Customer Service.

I live in an area surrounded by lakes and it is generally very windy !!! I have 3 other spinners and the go like crazy. This one just sits there. and yes it is lubricated with WD40. looks nice, but that’s about it.

Poorly designed to create spinning !.

I am a new customer to Hayneedle, and this was my first purchase. I am so impressed with this wind spinner! It was so easy to assemble and comes with the shepherds hook. The sun just beams off the colorful enamel finish.

The sculpture almost looks like liquid as it moves with the wind. It bring some welcome color to our desert landscape. I purchased this with the intention of beautifying a difficult area of our yard that’s fighting crabgrass.

I love the colorful spinner. It has a pleasing color fade into the next bright color. Curved metal colored spirals are decent weight and quality. It spins easily with a slight breeze. The included shepherds hook is very tall, but can be shortened by removing a section.

This was a good value for 2 pieces.

We love this spinner! Though part of the pole was bent when we pulled it out of the box, we were able to align it and love the spinner. A Great yard additon!

Don’t get this color! I love these spinners in other colors, but this color started fading as soon as the sun hit it. Color is virtually gone a short time later. I could paint it with an outdoor paint, but I’ve done this before with the hot pink color (which also faded), and the paint chips off.

The blue color and the rainbow colors hold up well.

I got my favorite colors, royal blue, and gold. it’s Amazing, it spins and and is so beautiful to watch!!! i so love it and gets tons of compliments. it’s on my front deck where i spend a lot of time.

Purchased to help birds to stop/slow down before flying into my windows. It took me some time before buying something because whatever I purchased would be seen in my living areas. I’m very pleased with this choice.

My wife bought me the Stanwood Kinetic Copper Dual Helix Spinner for my birthday this year. I was so impressed with the build quality, crystal clear instructions (with lots of pictures), and ease of assembly & installation of the Stanwood spinner.

I decided to call Ryan from Stanwood to praise the product and then negotiated the purchase and delivery of five other wind spinners, including the “Double Windmill Spinner”. The new ones arrived very quickly, and I tossed all of our old Costco ones and replaced them with Stanwood wind spinners.

The materials and workmanship of the Stanwood spinners are second to none. Machined brass bearing housings, replaceable SS bearings, bright copper “leafs”, heavy duty copper pole. beautiful. They spin at the slightest breeze and are absolutely a delight (and mesmerizing) to watch while sitting on our back porch.

Well worth every penny!.

The Quality was exceptional. Well packaged, exceptional bearings. I was admiring the smooth bearings in the axle piece even before assembly, and they allow the sturdy vanes to move in the slightest of breezes.

Gustier winds make for very fast motion, but not overly so, so it seems there’s a spillage of some wind force. It has an interesting design in that it seems to rotate horizontally in a somewhat random fashion, not staying as constantly turned into the wind as I would have thought.

This is a pleasing effect though. I can imagine an optional design for a wind vane maintaining a more constant direction, but the minimalist design is pleasing to behold. Construction is very sturdy, and not as delicate as it appears in the videos or pictures, with thick vanes and sturdy bearings.

Looking forward to a second Stanwood Wind Sculpture, perhaps next year. We’ll have to see how well it holds up to our tough Midwest Winters.

This is our second purchase of one of your wind sculptures. They are high quality. Love to watch the movement. Slightest breeze and they move freely. The copper material is stunning. Also purchased 2 of your water chains for my daughter and they love them.

Bought this for her birthday and she loves it. It was supposed to be delayed but arrived early as hoped. Great price. Love it.

I love everything about it, the color, size and it is very strong, I just enjoy watching it .

I ordered two of these and was going to order 2 or 3 more, they look good easy to assemble and sturdy even in 50mph winds. On the down side, one of the units simply does not work, its in full sun for over 8 hours and the led barely lights up for more than 5 mins.

I changed the batteries as the instructions stated and at my own expense still the same result. The other unit is fantastic, works for hours even after charging for only 4 hours on a cloudy day. Therefore, given the 50/50 shot of not working, I’ll get something without lights.

So I can only give this 3 stars because if you ordered one and got the lemon, its not worth the effort.

Every year for my wife’s birthday, I gift her one gift per day for five days leading up to her birthday. Attempting to be creative, I purchased the wind spinner because she enjoys wind chimes. Not having purchased a wind spinner without first seeing it in action, I took a chance and bought it.

The box is deceivingly small. The pole comes unassembled, and the spinner and light are fully assembled. The spinner has four sealed ball-bearing units (two per side). The light features an on/off switches.

The LED light provides ample light with detracting from the spinner or making it intrusive. After assembling the pole and mounting the spinner (easily slides on top of the pole), we placed it in the yard.

There it remains, spinning as good as the day we put it outside, despite the harsh outdoor environment of Florida (rain, wind, heat, and more heat). The lightest of breezes will make it spin.

Although designed to be placed in the ground, I mounted it to a wood post so the main shaft would not move / sway as much. Although not mentioned, I sprayed a little lubricant on the spinner bearings.

I also added some at the top of the shaft to enhance the 360 degree motion. It spins with just a slight breeze. The small light output at night is not fantastic. But yet, the changing light is interesting to watch; for a short time.

All-in-all, I do recommend / like this unit.

I have assembled this beautiful piece of art and displayed it in my yard but the construction or design does not allow the piece to spin freely with the wind, I can rotate it by hand but it just sits motionless under wind power.

I purchased this as a gift for my boyfriend. It was very easy to assemble and spins even with the smallest breeze. So fun to watch it spin, and the bronze color is spot-on. Very classy looking.

It was fairly easy to put together. I several flower beds, and so because it wasn’t as tall as I was thinking it was it did fit nicely in the flowering section.

This Multicolor Floral Triple Blade Wind Spinner is in my flower garden which is around my 16 foot gazebo. WOW!!!! What can I say about this AWESOME spinner, A LOT! This spinner absolutely blew me away in it’s artistic design and the terrific colors that are so bright and go together so well.

When it is spinning in moderate to high speed, all three wheels spin so fast that the dark blue appears to disappear at the bottom and the green of the middle wheel (spinning in the opposite direction) appears to connect with the blue and then it has an area that disappears, and the gold from the front takes over.

My wife said, “It looks like a colorful snake winding around on the pole. ” This is the most mesmerizing and enjoyable spinner of the seven that I own. The pole on this spinner seems to be sturdier and the small screws don’t come loose, yet.

They are a little larger. When the winds are predicted to be 45mph and above, I do play it safe and remove my spinners from the poles. EVERYBODY SHOULD HAVE THIS SPINNER IN THEIR YARD!! I could add more stars the rating if I could.

This is the second time I have used a spinner to leave at my mother’s gravesite. I think the spinner has the unique ability to demonstrate the amount of energy present in a cemetery which may otherwise appear lacking.

It is a reflection of the way my mother approached life. Somehow I believe it brings her joy.

I live by the beach and our ground is sandy. One ground stake broke putting it in. Customer service sent me a whole new spinner, which was awesome. I got this as a Mother’s Day gift. Before Father’s Day, the blue color was Gone on the new one! The blue was the reason I asked for it in the first place.

The spinner works great and looks cool. I guess I will have to find some metallic blue paint and try to touch it up.

The Mandala spinner is beautiful but the directions to open it are impossible. I still don’t know if I opened it correctly but it does look nice in the wind. You might try clarifying your directions.

Talking about a pouch makes no sense to me. I was afraid to bend the spinner for fear of damaging it. I was unable to locate the video that one of your reviewer mentioned but the reviewer indicated it didn’t help much anyway.

I should have known at the price it wasn’t going to be good. Item arrived rather quickly but couldn’t open it up. I watched the tutorial video and tried several times but was unable to flare open the item.

Either the metal wasn’t cut through or the paint used to put the pattern on the metal was done after the metal was cut and prohibits you from opening the item. But the good news is when I returned the item they were very quick to give me a full refund.

I bought two the Blue Sun and the Lotus Mandala. The Blue Sun I’m giving to a friend for her birthday the end of the month. The Lotus Mandala I bought for myself. I watched the video on how to open it up.

It certainly didn’t open up as easy on the video. Still don’t know if it’s right. I hope the sun one will open up better. They are very pretty.

I have purchased four other spinners. I always LOOK for HEIGHT and SIZE and Substantial construction as I live on a windy and breezy hill. This is the FIFTH spinner I have purchased. This is the largest GLOBE I have ever seen.

I purchased the Copper and it is so bright and elegant. I was able to put this together myself using patience and following the directions exactly. It took less than 20 minutes. I have also added rebarr to strengthen the pole and pounded down about two feet into the ground and about three feet above ground and wrapped it with like color duct tape if it is in a really wild location.

It does require the right direction and amount of breeze for it to turn, So you may have to relocate it a bit to find the perfect place. It is not necessary to remove it during high winds at least that is my experience.

The petal spinners do require shelter during storms! Regardless it is a magnificent statement in the yard or garden. The price is a phenomenal buy!.

I bought this spinner on its first presentation, but we didn’t put it out in the yard until two weeks ago. My first Plow & Hearth spinner was a copper colored double spinner that I bought several years ago.

and it’s still going strong, and still looks beautiful. That one is on the corner of my upper deck, in the back of the house. I wanted this new one for the front yard, and what I especially like is it doesn’t look like all the other windmill type spinners you see everywhere.

It stands out in a wonderful way. The assembly did require both my husband and I working together to get the pieces to align, so they could be screwed together. Once it was all fastened, it was simple to screw in the post pieces.

We have it positioned so it’s in front of our side yard, catching the wind that blows between our house and the neighbor’s. It’s really pretty in the copper color. Very happy with this purchase.

I just received this spinner. I was very disappointed when I opened the package. The color of the copper Harlequin spinner is much more red than copper. I have it together and will place it in the yard today, perhaps it will look more copper in the Sun.

However it is clearly RED with black. That said, this piece is beautiful. Very Large Globe. Spins easily. I plan to place it in my front yard so it will be very eye catching. I also purchased the Two Tone Split Spinner from Plow and Hearth as well.

Both spinners are large and beautiful, spin easily, and look very impressive put together. I am hoping for years of enjoyment from both.

Very nice spinner. Arrived in great shape and was east to put together. However i am unhappy since both sides will not spin unless the wind is blowing pretty hard. I sprayed both sides with W-D and tried balancing the blades, but it seems only one side will spin easily with a light breeze.

If I turn the blades around then the other side spins and the one that spun before won’t. Not able to figure out what the problem is. i would only buy again if I knew both sides would spin.

I bought 3 of these spinners as gifts. Everyone loved them. Just found out this past weekend that one of them does not spin. It’s very pretty, but it does not move. No turning, no spinning. Very disappointing since I told her it was a wind spinner.

We took it apart to try to adjust it, but no luck. The other 2 work great. My advice is to try it out to ensure it works before you give it as a gift.

This colorful wind spinner was given as a housewarming gift to a friend who bought his first home. He is very particular and was extremely pleased and complimentary of this gift. He sent me a photo of it spinning in action and it was quite striking.

The copper and blue color combo is exquisite. Wished I would have included a can of the sun protector since the Texas heat is destructive. The purchase and delivery/shipping process was very easy. I was extremely pleased with the shopping experience but should add that I have always had good luck and been extremely pleased with all purchases from this company.

I love the sun/moon spinner so much! I purchased the 6 in spinner and it was the perfect size for the space It was made well, and It enhances my deck area. I am thinking of purchasing another one to give as a gift.

I had a bad experience with this product. The same day that I put it up, it came down. The clips that hold the product for hanging break quickly. That caused my product to fall. To find the clips is hard because of the rotation of the clips.

I cannot find them anywhere. But other than that, it is a nice fixture.

We like these flowers so much that this is the second one we’ve purchased – the first one got ran over in the driveway. The colors of these spinners are very vibrant and do not fade, not even through an entire summer and several snow storms.

The rotating mechanism works very well and the whole thing is simple and yet very sturdy. Highly recommended if you need a little outdoor decoration.

I bought two of these bright orange daisies and they are perfect! They make me smile, theyre so cheery! Excellent quality. Trying to post a photo, but it says its too big. Thats really too bad, because it looks so pretty on my balcony.

Very cheep material! It only lasted a week. I got three of them. One lasted 2 days and the other 2 one week. I had one before that lasted for three years. The stick was wood and it was thicker.

I love my mandala! It adds such interesting color and design to my backyard garden. I must say that it was VERY difficult to “unfold” and the directions were not very helpful; I’m still not sure that I have done it correctly.

That being said, its sparkly colors add a great new dimension!.
