20 Best Windbreaker For Women (2022 Updated)

1 year into my first ever Cotopaxi purchase and I’m a little disappointed. I have no complaints about the warmth, fit, style, etc. , everything was as expected. I love that this jacket is reversible and stylish yet functional worn either way – I probably wore each side equally over the last year.

However, the durability has not been there. I am not wearing this jacket during any extreme outdoor activities, I mainly wear it when walking or biking to work. But the stitches in one of the pockets has ripped open (a little too easily if you ask me).

And most importantly. my biggest complaint is the spotting when it gets any moisture on it. I understand it’s not a rain jacket, but it is made by an outdoor company. I never wore this in a downpour, but I admit to occasionally wearing it during a sprinkle or light snow, and the jacket has water spots all over it.

Lastly, I agree with another review that mentioned the hood falling over your eyes. I remember this jacket being a big purchase for me at the time. I did a lot of research and comparison to other brands.

I enjoyed wearing it for the fit/style/warmth, but mainly I’m disappointed that here we are a year later and I’m going to need another jacket soon.

I was really drawn to this jacket due to its versatility and color options. This jacket has all of the crazy color combinations you could expect from Cotopaxi and then some. I ended up buying two of these because I live in a cold state (Alaska), where you have to wear a jacket most of the year.

These are much cheaper than alternatives and this jacket essentially becomes two when you reverse it. The fit is pretty fitted, if not a little boxy/generic. I’d say it ran a little large for me, only because I’m used to a drop-tail hem.

Most of the fitting I believe is due to the fact that it is reversible. While this jacket isn’t the end-all solution to active cold weather apparel, it does offer a bunch of options, and you can easily wear this in town or in the mountains.

One thing to note: the color Jettison does NOT have a black main zipper. It is bright orange, which I don’t like as much as in the model photo. That being said, it still matches really well and it’s a fun addition.

I just wanted a more muted option when I wore it in the reverse blue configuration.

I love Cotopaxi! I ordered my Teca Calido a size larger than I normally wear, to allow for room to wear a fleece underneath (I tried it on in a local store, and my typical size was just a little tight in the sleeves when layering).

The Teca is super warm for its thickness, and acts as a great windblocker; I love the elastic cuffing. The hood is a little large for me and falls over my eyes, but that also means it fits perfectly with a stocking cap or pony tail.

I definitely prefer wearing the color blocked side out, as it’s a little less puffy (I love having the inner pockets available, though). I give it four stars for both the hood being a little large, as well as because I’m not sure how well it will hold up if I really ‘give it a beating.

’ The material is a little thin, and prone to snag on sticks (to clarify, I don’t have any tears yet!) – but it’s a sacrifice I think you’d make for any coat of this size and weight, so still definitely worth it.

I love that this windbreaker is pretty lightweight enough for me to wear layers of tops (if needed) and I love that this jacket works for most of my outfits! It’s prefect for me! I bought the Small size, which I love; I could’ve bought the Medium size, because I couldn’t go wrong with a Medium size for jackets.

I definitely would like to purchase the Black Plum, next time, and maybe the Medium size!.

I needed a lightweight jacket for a trip to San Fran, and this was perfect. Not too warm and also ventilated! I am 5’2 140lbs and got a medium and it fit perfectly. I also have broad shoulders and have a tough time finding jackets that give my shoulders and back wiggle room, and I have no pull with this jacket.

Yay!.

This is the perfect high quality wind proof jacket and I love the fit. It fits me just like the model but I went one size up (xs to small) since one reviewer mentioned it was tight at the shoulders. This one is a great buy.

Wanted this jacket so much! Saw it in another retail store & loved the green/blue color combo. For the weight of the jacket though, I wasn’t paying the asking price. I ordered it from the Columbia website sale and had to go with a 1X even though I’m typically a 2X in Columbia women as I find their items run on the small side.

Unfortunately, it’s too restricting in the chest area so it’s going to have to be returned. Totally disappointed as I really wanted this but def need the 2X that isn’t available. Not sure how this material would withstand much though which is a downfall.

I ordered this jacket specifically to wear when headed into and out of the gym. I wanted a thin jacket with no lining, able to get wet and packable. This jacket is very basic but checked all those boxes for me.

I like the elastic at the cuffs and the drawstring at the bottom hem. This jacket is true to Columbia sizing in my opinion (meaning small compared to other brands-in almost all brands I buy a M but in Columbia I buy a L).

I got the black and white option and the white is very see through but does not bother me as it is only ever over gym tank tops for me. The cut and two tone color is very flattering. The only thing I really dislike about the jacket is the mesh pockets-you cannot put keys in there or other things that could tare it.

So the pockets are not as useful as they could be.

My first disappointing purchase. This is a replacement for the one I bought my daughter for Christmas. Now I have to pay to ship the damaged one back to Columbia while they decide if they can fix or replace it.

In the meantime I purchased k this new one because my daughter wears this for work. The new one is black like the old one but the zipper on the new one is white? I ordered the exact same one! Go figure???.

I love the looks of this jacket, the colors are so bright and its protects you enough from mild cold weather. However, I didn’t have much luck with the shipping, customer service and the quality of the product.

While the customer service representatives are very responsive, there is not much sense of accountability. I had ordered the same jacket from REI, the product arrived timely but I had to returned it due to sizing.

I decided to buy the second jacked directly from Cotopaxi and unfortunately I regret doing it. The shipping took three weeks to arrive, I had planned to take the jacket overseas, but I couldn’t due to the delay and poor communication about time expectations.

Also, after wearing it twice, some threads on the wrist started to come out and the zipper often opens from the middle of the jacket. I recommend that if you buy this product, please consider doing so directly from REI, they have a great warranty policy and are customer service oriented.

I bought a Teca windbreaker in January. I love the design and looks, like all my other Cotopaxi gear. I wasn’t able to use it til the cold weather broke a bit. At this point I have only worn it on a couple of walks (mid 30’s temps).

Both times I had only a base layer underneath, I found that the Teca doesn’t breathe at all, the jacket was wet with perspiration inside and my base layer was wet, as well. This surprised me and bummed me out.

The elastic waist my contribute to the issue. I thought this jacket would be good for hikes and cycling, I’m now thinking differently. I haven’t read any other reviews that indicate the same experience.

Honestly, when I ordered it I didn’t research the jacket thoroughly, I assumed it would be like most other windbreakers and offer breathability. I do want to love it, yet I don’t.

Great jacket and love the gray color, a nice neutral that coordinates with many outfits. Well-made & high quality material. The only reason I gave 4 stars is the cut. I own a number of your products & it seems most items have a straight cut instead of an A-line cut (the Rhonda seems to be an exception to this).

I am a slender pear-shape (B:35″ & H: 38. 5-39). The medium fits well, but not a lot of extra room to accommodate wearing a pear of jeans plus stuff in the pockets. Another 1/2-1″ in the hip area would be perfect! If I were to size up to a large, it would be huge on the top.

How about offering a regular fit & a curvy fit? Thank you for offering such wonderful products.

So based on other reviews I ordered an extra large instead of the Large I would normally order. Good thing I did since it’s still tight across the chest. I would suggest for womens sizes you allow more room through the chest.

Love all the pockets, that’s truly amazing. The hood does rub against my neck and is kind of annoying but overall a very versatile jacket.

I bought the Chloe Glow jacket (in blue) a few years back for a trip and I love the style and pockets. This year I decided on a lighter weight jacket for a summer trip. The “Pack Windbreaker” is well-made and good looking, and lighter for summer wear.

I am a size 4 or 6, but the size medium is just right – not too roomy, but not too snug. Love the jacket!.

This windbreaker is exactly what I needed. It is lightweight enough that I can roll it up into the hood and put it in my bag without it making my bag too heavy or bulky. Living in Portland, OR now, there are actually rain-free days (knock on wood) and though it is getting a little warmer, when that wind picks up.

brrrr!! Especially when you are in downtown and the buildings shade you from the sun. It’s times like these when I whip out my windbreaker, slip it on, and it does the trick. It’s light enough where you’re not going to get hot so it’s great for long walks or jogs during seasonal transitions.

I got the peach/gray color combination which is great for an outdoorsy look, but am also thinking about getting a plain black one for a more polished look. I ordered a 3X. I generally wear a 1X-2X but each brand is different and luckily I was able to try on a rain jacket in the store (they didn’t have plus size windbreakers, hence the online order)–the 2X was too snug.

With that said the 3X is kinda on the looser side (for me), but seeing how this goes over clothes I don’t mind. I love that the pockets are zippered and deep enough to hold my cellphone safely. There are pull-strings at the bottom of the jacket where the zipper starts.

I just tie them into a bow so they are not hanging but have found it just a tad bit inconvenient when unzipping and trying to take off the windbreaker only to be stopped by the bow I tied. I’m sure it serves a purpose–to stop wind from blowing in from the bottom? It’s just another added step to untie it but kinda breaks up the flow and ease of an otherwise perfect product.

I also believe it’s water-resistant in light rain. I wore it one day not expecting the misty rain to turn into real rain. I was worried that the rain would leak through since the peach half of the windbreaker was becoming see-through as it became more wet but nope–I remained dry and the windbreaker itself dried pretty quick once I got on the train.

All in all, I highly recommend this product–especially for heavier set people like me who have a hard time finding rain jackets and windbreakers in our size while still being reasonably priced.

I have been needing a windbreaker for a long time and am so glad I found this one on sale. The fit is perfect (I weigh around 105 and got the XS) and the quality is high. I especially love the zippered pockets.

I have only worn it once so far, as I bought it mostly for cooler weather than what we are having now. It is super lightweight, just what I was looking for.

Item arrived quickly and seems pretty well made. It’s also very warm and comfortable, not tried it in the rain yet. The fleece-lined hood is also good and not too big and baggy. Only two comments/criticisms: First, the jacket is quite short, as highlighted in other reviews.

I’m 5’7″, average build and in size medium it comes down to about halfway down my fly. The cut seems designed to come to around your waist, but if you are 6’+ you’ll probably find it a bit short, at least in medium.

If you plan to wear it with longer shirts/jumpers underneath, be aware they may stick out the bottom. Second, it has a zip down the left hand side, from the bottom to the armpit, to help you get it on; this is very useful, but the bottom of the zip fastens with a small piece of velcro.

If you pull the drawstring to tighten the bottom of the jacket to closely fit you, it can result in the zip opening slightly if the velcro comes undone – it could do with a better mechanism such as a popper.

All in all though, a good jacket for the price, seems pretty windproof and warm, great for dog walking.

I first bought this anorak in a size too large, UKMCPRO quickly sent a replacement, in all my dealings with them they have been great! This anorak style windbreaker is simply designed yet warm and practical.

It has two good size pockets and a drawstrings on the hood and hem. Pockets, neck and a ventilation aperture beneath the left arm are opened and closed by robust zips, the pocket and neck zips have tabs which make opening whilst wearing gloves a breeze.

I am no fan of branding unless discrete which is the case with this garment, a small brown square to the left breast with an impressed “B” and a “Brandit” signature on the neck zip tab are barely noticeable.

The white drawstrings on the hood contrast the green and brown elsewhere. Finally the fleece lining and knitted cuffs keep the wearer warm even toasty. For me a shirt and this jacket are all I need to around 2 degrees celcius.

I have no experience of wet weather in this top though the quiet softshell material will likely withstand showery weather though when walking a distance packing a poncho in case of heavy rain will for me make sense.

This a smart and discrete yet distinctive top, it seems that other people appreciate that. What others cannot know is how very comfortable it is to wear.

Very light, windproof, good quality pullover. Also is highly showerproof, almost like it’s ceramic coated ? Excellent large hood too. Really warm over a fleece. Only bought it really because of the Swedish M90 camo (I was born there !).

love the feel the comfort quality of the wind breaker. but the one thing that was very dissapointing and let it down is, how short it is in body. by side of other 5xl tops i have its 3 to 4 inch shorter normally a 5xl is fine for me i am 6’6” and 24 stone and coats hoddies come past my waist.

this came above my waist. i love it and am keeping it just a shame its not longer. so take care for size its the same size as a 4xl guinness sweat top hope this helps as i sat really well made.

We are using these shirts for our dancers at our studio. It is super soft, looks great, and shipped extremely quickly! We will definitely continue shopping with JiffyShirts!

great jacket, very comfortable and good quality, but it runs small so definitely size up! i usually get a L or XL in clothes, like hoodies and jackets as i prefer the oversized fit. i was gonna get one from the vans shop who only had a large in stock and it was so small.

i ordered one online, XXL was the only one available which i’m glad i got as it fits great but has a more fitting style and i don’t know if an XL would’ve fit, especially around the hips and breast area.

i love vans stuff and i’ve never had an issue with vans sizing before, just this jacket. would still recommend though! < 3.

I’m definitely satisfied with my purchase, the jacket is water repellent, it’s only slightly suffocating when it’s humid, but it’s to be expected. It has kept me warm in slightly cooler environments.

Looks very nice when paired with the right outfit. I don’t recommend rolling up the sleeves often, it’ll mark your arm.

DIDNT look exactly like the picture. Totally different color. I had a depiction of the jacket being light pink when in reality it’s rose gold. Thinner than it looks. Isn’t really think. Fits weird. It isn’t that bad but.

Not only does it fit like a small cropped jacket (ordered medium also ordered medium north face hoodie and it was baggy fit nicely) but this jacket was extremely small not true to size at all and felt like a very cheap tarp instead of a windbreaker.

Really sad because in the pictures it’s so cute but in person not so much – def size up if you feel like giving it a shot.

I am normally a size 14 but bought the large as I have a big bust, the jacket runs a bit small as the large just about closed. Had to return. Lovely jacket tho!

It’s a cute jacket definitely runs small. I’m usually medium but had to size up to XL for it to fit. Also this claims it supposed to keep you warm and it’s wind resistant. I guarantee you it is NOT. It is currently 54 degrees and I have this on while out.

I’m freezing. It’s a cute jacket but don’t expect it to keep you warm. Other than that love this color and style.

I love this jacket! It has a bit of an 80s windbreaker vibe that I am here for. I liked it so much, I got it in two colors – violet and black. The only thing that would make this jacket even better is if they ditched the pull tie at the end, it can be constricting at times.

Otherwise, it’s a good jacket.

My West Virginia alum husband loved this collegiate windbreaker. He said that it reminded him of a jacket he wore in college. It is very light weight, attractive, and does a great job of blocking the wind on his daily walks.

This may just be my bias, because I love the Bulls, but this jacket is awesome. I knew it would be light weight so I ordered a size up so I can layer and still wear it as the season gets colder. The jacket looks good and is comfortable to wear while playing.

This jacket is perfect! Brilliant fit and fantastic for a lightweight wear or carry on a cool summer night out. Caught out in the rain? No problem, it’s waterproof too. Win, win, win!

The jacket itself is fantastic, great material and a real good fit, the value was the best price found so I bought from JL, the staff were amazing they didn’t have my size but the lady went off to check and they had it in stock just not on the shelf.
