20 Best Window Glazing Putty (2022 Updated)

This works well. I am currently using a tube that was sitting in my toolbox for over 6 years and it works fine. There was some initial clear liquid at the start of the tube but I just squeezed it out and discarded it and after that it is very homogenous.

I am using it to fill and smooth seams between parts glued together in the making of ABS boat hulls and I find it works very well for this application. It adheres to ABS very well and has a very good combination of firmness while remaining very sandable.

I am very happy with the results. It does dry very quickly but I think that is a good feature of this product. It also does not dry out in the tube after being opened and then sitting for long periods of time between uses.

I am actually online to purchase more of it and decided to leave a review while I’m here just because it has helped me achieve very nice professional looking results with my projects.

I bought this to fill minor imperfections on a one piece slate for a 8’ pool table for my garage. This is normally done with bee’s wax, but bee’s wax isn’t temp stable. After doing a lot of research online, the pros these days are skipping bee’s wax for even climate controlled repairs and installations of three piece slate tables.

Bondo is the go to now for a stable joint or fill that they will never have to come back to repair in the future. I only need to fill a couple of very shallow imperfections, so I went with this. It works very well, no shrinkage when used as intended, ready to be sanded in a half hour, and a very reasonable working time of 5 minuets.

This product isn’t meant to fill large imperfections, and it will take for ever to dry if you try to use it for that purpose. I confirmed that by leaving a fairly thick layer on some card board on the bench.

A 1/4” layer was still soft 4 hours later.

It is typical of all of Bondo’s body work products. In this case, it is not for car repairs, but for smoothing and filling holes in 3-d printed projects that didn’t turn out as smooth as desired. Great stuff for that as it doesn’t attack the plastic and after its quick drying, sands to perfection.

The only thing I can complain about is its stench. Not something to be used in an indoor office environment. Use it in a well ventilated shop, or outdoors.

While I do use this product for home autobody work, I mostly use it for my flying models for mold making. Too heavy to use on the model itself. It is an excellent filler which dries quickly and sands nicely.

I recommend using only skim coats and to get it as smooth as you can when you apply it so that the amount of sanding is less.

Best glazing filler for repairs and builds. Not cheap but well worth it if you want a flawless finish and a first class job

Excellent Product. Spreads easily, sands easily to very smooth finish. It hardens very quickly though. If you use more than 1 1/2 golf ball size of material, you may not be able to to spread it all.

I’ve mainly used this product to get out fine scratches over body filler and to fill in pinholes and paint imperfections. Works great but you must work very fast. One swipe and it is already hardening.

As for the separating, I find every tube did this but if you knead it and squeeze out the initial thin liquid, the rest seems fine. I used a tube that sat in my toolbox unopened for over a year and it was ok.

This stuff is pretty much a thinned out version of regular Bondo and, as such, is a little expensive for what it is. You mix a lesser amount of the red cream hardener (included) in with a larger amount of what you squeeze out the big tube.

Getting the correct ratio can be tricky esp. when using small amounts and the first time out, my mud started kicking’on me in less than a minute. I got less liberal with the hardener afterwards and was able to extend the cure time a few times over.

The consistency of this putty is very good. It isn’t cakey like regular Bondo yet it isn’t runny either, so it stays where you put it, even on vertical surfaces. After you use this stuff, the old glazing putty of yore (Bondo #907) will be a distant memory.

One tip, just like regular Bondo, make sure to knead the hardener tube fully before each use.

This spot putty does what it says. However, I didn’t expect it to cure that fast. I had over a hundred stone chips on my hood, and I could only cover eight or ten spots every time I prepare a mixture.

Another thing I learned is that when I spray paint a dark red pearl base coat, the yellow putty shows through. So I need to buy a second can of spray to deepen the coverage. Alternatively I could use a dark red touch up paint on each spot before spray on base coat.

Overall its a powerful product and you’d need to learn to use it effectively.

The product data sheet says a 1″ diameter circle of putty to a 1″ strip of hardener, which equals a 3:1 mix ratio. The packaging says a 1. 5″ diameter circle of putty to a 1/2″ strip of hardener. which equals a 9:1 mix ratio.

That’s note even close!! And there’s no mix ratio instructions on the tube itself. Get your act together.

I wish I would have taken heed of the other reviewers who claimed this glazing never cures, and did not assume they were simply doing something incorrectly. they were 100% correct. I applied this glazing 3 weeks ago, and kept the panes indoors with a slight ceiling fan breeze to assist with the curing process.

I figured by now the glazing would FINALLY be ready to paint, but it is still exactly the same consistency as the day I applied it, and comes off of the pane with just the slightest touch of the finger.

This is an absolutely useless product. please learn from my mistake, save yourself time and money, and do not purchase ths product.

My family tried it as a substitute for cream cheese on bagels. We regret to say that we are unable to recommend it. p.s. How can you aske people to review a tub of putty?

This compound has been around for a long time. It says to it’s quality. But hubby hasn’t used it yet! He will and I’m sure it will be fine!

Soft, easy to use and does not easily separate on extended use.

Sadly not available in white. Obviously not as easy as if in a tube but cost differential is significant

evercoat putty 408 goes on smooth and does not sag. no pin holes to deal with. It’s the best

What’s not to like ? I spread it thin over low spots, roof seam areas, plastic bumpers and more, sands well usually 180 on up, blend it with regular filler and you have polyester filler. Using small amounts and wanting to avoid waste I semi eyeball the hardener watch the the color during mixing.

I have used other products in the past but this is so far the best. You can mix it so it will set up as you need. Most glazing puttys are already mixed and dry up too fast. This product is awesome!
