20 Best Wines For Charcuterie (2022 Updated)

I am by no means a wine expert but a friend who is a fine wines salesman once told me there is no reason to spend more than $10 for a bottle of wine. He gave me a list of about 25 reds and 25 Whites under $10 a bottle.

This Fetzer is by far my favorite of the list. I admit I’m a “Wine Beginner” but I’ve bought several bottles of Red at $50 to $100 and I like this wine better.

You can’t go wrong for the price. I have drank very expensive wines and cheap ones as well. For under six bucks you can’t beat the taste. Very smooth, can’t hardly smell the alcohol, very, very light taste.

Great for Cabernet Sauvignon starters.

Let’s be honest, no one is buying this outside of the 4L glass jug at 8. 0% ABV for $9. 99. It’s disappointing that this wine is not a 5L bag-in-box with at least 9. 0% ABV, but here we are. Sweet, grapey, and chuggable, this is America’s wine.

Just need more alcohol for this to be a 10/10.

I found this rather bland even for a “cheap” wine. After reading all the positive reviews I’m a little underwhelmed. This is the kind of wine I expect to drink at a wedding as it was picked not to offend anybody.

I didn’t enjoy drinking it at home. It sits thick on the tongue with zero of the crispness you’d expect from a Pinot. It’s not sweet, it’s just not good. I would not recommend unless you drink wine for the alcohol and not the taste of good wine.

I would not buy again.

I bought this for my husband for our wedding anniversary and he loved it! After trying it, he said “oh we’re going to need to go to the store and grab a couple more bottles of this!” This Pinot Grigio has a good flavor but received 4 stars because it has a kick to it.

It wasn’t as smooth as other brands of Pinot but still, it’s delicious.

I tried this the other night with my boyfriend and the first gulp I took. tasted like straight throw up. I had my boyfriend try it and he agreed. Not only did it taste like throw up but smelled like it too.

I’m very disappointed.

Vintage 2019 – Deep ruby color, with aromas of with aromas of black plum and cases, as well as notes of vanilla and nutmeg. It is balanced on the palate, with silky astringency and a long finish. Drink it now, and buy a few bottles to taste it again in a couple of years :).

One of the best wines from this Lodi winery. Wine maker was wine maker of the year about 5 years ago

We drank two bottles over the last weekend. It was fine for sipping and great with steak. The wine has a deep, rich fruit forward flavor. The tannins are just right. It is satisfying. I would give it 4 and 1/2 stars if the review would let me.

Did some research before buying/read reviews and went for it–really good light to medium-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon and smooth. Don’t expect complexity, it is a crowd pleaser for all types of imbibers.

Buy it for your next party or have some on-hand as your (pun intended) ‘house wine’ that won’t go bad after just a few days of opening. I will be purchasing this again.

At $8. 99/bottle at my local Total Wine, I consider this a solid bargain. 92 rating? Yes, I think it’s a fair assessment. Load up the truck. Heck, buy a case and get Total Wine’s 10% discount as well! You won’t regret it.

The McManis Pinot Noir has been a favorite of mine but is impossible to purchase anymore! My husband is a Petite Syrah fan so I thought I’d surprise him with the McManis. Wellll, we were both surprised! Although it is described as a medium bodied wine, I find it rich, full, and delightful.

I serve it with salmon as well as lamb and duck. And yes, I am happy to enjoy it on its own.

Great nose of dark berries. Full-bodied (“thick”). Intense blackberry flavor with some complexity. Fairly dry. Some tannin. Nice–I grabbed a case of the 2017.

Was looking for a good daily table wine to enjoy with my dinners and sipping in the evening. The reviews were very positive on this Cabernet Sauvignon and it didn’t disappoint. $8. 97 for a 1. 5 L bottle is a great value and was a very flavorful wine with nice tannins.

Scents of berry and oak. You definitely pick up hints of blackberry and oak in the taste too. Has a satisfying finish too. Try a bottle; I think you’ll enjoy it.

One of the best value Cabs you can get on the market bar none. The taste is full bodied in a way that it hits your tongue with the texture of juice. This has always been my go-to and I will say that way.

Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi makes an excellent White Zinfandel too. I highly recommend both of these.

When I first tasted this wine it was without question the best chardonnay I have ever tasted. When you swish this wine around your mouth you get a burst of flavor. The best news is the price was $17.

Ive never been a fan of chardonnay or pinot Grigio, but this bottle is something I can drink. Usually what gets me with white wines is the awful smell, but this one smells sweet and floral which is nice.

It also has a Light to Medium pour unlike most whites.

I LOVE Chardonnay and this one is smooth and easy to drink. It is pretty decently priced and an easy go-to wine. One of the best white wines out there. Love it and would share it with all my friends.

Im my opinion, the alcohol taste wasnt as present as other drinks ive had so it made it great to drink.

I don’t feel like it is extremely dry or full bodied, but it was still delicious! It was tasty on its own as well as with pork ribs! I’d enjoy a glass of this again.

I was looking for a port and my local store had this one on sale. I actually like it a lot, enough to go back and buy another bottle while it is still on sale. The label says “rich with flavors of caramel” but I would describe it more like the flavor of Welch’s Grape Juice and port, but I like it.

When my brothers and I were young, my parents would give us 7 Up with a bit of Mogan David. Reminds me of that, but I like sweet wines. Not for a true oenophile, but a decent, inexpensive port. I have had $350 bottles of port, which are really excellent (I bought it for $20 in Portugal and saved it for over 30 years).

For something to sip on a cold evening, this is just fine.

I was absolutely impressed by how delicious this port wine was. I thought it was gonna be dry n on tbe bitter side but it wasn’t. Its a red wine but sweet to semi sweet taste. Kinda taste like mixed berries.

Yes, I recommend this wine wit dessert or just randomly have a glass or two. I would repurchase.

I have been buying Bread and Butter wines regularly since I tried them last year. I am no wine critic, but these wines taste great to me. They are well balanced, with the refreshing quality of delicious fruit and absolutely no strange aftertastes, excess acidity, or unidentifiable complexity.

These a simple wines, at a truly affordable price level. I buy them by the case for daily enjoyment.

My very favorite gift/housewarming wine. It’s an easy price point with a step up in taste. Very smooths be flavorful. Guests have always complimented it, and it’s regularly the first gift wine that is opened at a housewarming because it is liked by everyone, regardless of normal wine preferences.

Highly recommend. This is all true for the full BB line.

Genuinely wish I could order this but the case. Love the packaging and the appeal, but the wine itself is wonderfully smooth. I’m not a huge Cabernet drinker, but this wine has converted me. The price is great and I recommend it to anyone who loves a smooth red.

A go-to liquor store staple that always satisfies a red wine craving. Super affordable tastes just like some of the more expensive stuff. Not incredibly sweet but won’t take your breath away with dryness, either.

It’s truly a well rounded blend that will satisfy your craving during dinner time or whilst in front of your favorite Netflix show.

I know this wine very well, have enjoyed previous vintages. This is an awesome young Sonoma cabernet. It will drink very nicely if given time to open – at least several hours. For a real treat – open, enjoy some and pump to finish the next day – then you will see what you’re really going get when this matures.

Favorite red wine! So smooth and pairs well with good conversation and a great time. Excellent quality for the price and my go-to wine to bring to a party. I definitely recommend this wine for purchase!.

Grab this for you, or a party. It will please even the ones that just want want to drink for show. It is bold and beautifully mixed. So lush and bodied and has amazing structure. You will smell it before you even enjoy a drop, it is highly deliciously scented.

Firebrand Chardonnay at lower cost is preferred. Name is misleading as there is nothing “buttery” about it. In fact, is it not true that vineyards quit producing buttery chardonnays back in the late 1980s, early 1990s? Our last fantastic buttery chardonnay was Far Niente for $18 in a restaurant in Seattle, Washington in 1985-6.

They must live on their name because years later at $57 or so a bottle, there was no “butter” at all. In this and an earlier review, it is realized that everyone’s “palate” is different. So our judgment is only our judgment based on our tastes.

I was looking for my next go-to chardonnay to replace Frei Brothers, which became so inconsistent that I was experiencing more bad* bottles than good. I thought I found it in Butter Knife but have found similar inconsistencies.

However, the good bottles outweigh the bad* ones and it is, for now, my go-to everyday white. To be fair, I am a much pickier white drinker than red. Perhaps reds are easier to keep to a consistent flavor bottle to bottle.

*When I say ‘bad’ bottle, my description is drier/vinegar-leaning. I like my chards smooth, velvety, buttery while still having some complexity.

I tried this Chardonnay last week with grilled fish. I found it to be quite good, but it didn’t knock my socks off. I expected more based on the reviews. I want to rate this 3. 5 stars. Don’t get me wrong, I think this is a good Chardonnay, however for the price, I think there are others that do as well or better at a lower price point.

This is just above average to good in my opinion. Not sure I’d purchase it again for the same price knowing I can have similar or better for less $.

If you haven’t tried this one you should. I’m a huge Malbec fan and I like my Cabernet as well. But there’s something really rich about this wine. I like the bourbony flavor and the oak tones. For the price you can’t beat it.

I would set side-by-side with more expensive wines and still choose this one. Now you may or may not like it but it’s been a winner for serving to friends for dinner, cocktail hour as long as I’ve been able to find it.

So for the price give it a try… Hopefully it’s something you will enjoy as much as I have!.

As far as domestic wines coming from the mass production vineyards of California go, it’s not bad. It’s dry and with some very high oak notes coupled with some vanilla sweetness from the aging process.

I would not go so far as to call this complex or layered. It tastes pretty much like every other California cabernet. More sweet than earthy. But hey the price is right and you can put it on the table in mixed (friendly) company and not be ashamed of the label.

Especially if any of your guests watch PBS because this vineyard sponsors pretty much every cooking show. I’d probably use this more for cooking and braising than drinking in the future.

This wine will never receive an award at a Paris tasting. No problem. This wine is excellent for your every-day quaff with food or by itself. For the price-point, you can’t beat a reliable name like Robert Mondavi.

Red fruit forward on the nose, with strawberry and cherry, cherry cola, and red licorice. Similar on the palette, along with hints of oak, vanilla, and chocolate, with a creamy texture that doesn’t overpower.

This is not a super complex wine, but it satisfies the taste buds and does what it’s supposed to do. like a white T-shirt that fits just fine. It won’t turn the fashion industry upside-down but it serves its purpose.

Now that I’ve found this, all other value-priced, glass bottle wine is overrated. This is not your old auntie’s wine-in-a-box from 1995, so get that out of your head. It tastes better than ALL other boxed wines AND other “value-priced” bottled whites (think Yellow Tail, Barefoot, etc), it’s way cheaper per ounce, AND its packaging is better for the environment — please recycle the cardboard and especially the plastic liner according to your local recycling guidelines!.

Sometimes you just want to veg w/o breaking the budget. You can always make your own blends using a bit of this and a bit of that. Hectare’s versatility does the job from grunge to rock n’roll blend, pending mood, circumstances and company.

Don’t be snobby.

I was buying another box Chardonnay for the last couple years but the latest boxes were too acidic. I liked that Hectar Chardonnay was smooth, not acidic but the initial oak took me a little to get over.

The oak seems to fade with time/aeration in the caraf.
