20 Best Wines For Fall (2022 Updated)

Smooth and peppery with a tannic finish. Not my cab of choice nor will it be my go-to, EOD drink to unwind. However, I happened to have leftover Jambalaya that paired really well with this, surprisingly.

Kinda like having a smooth whiskey to liven up the palate sum. Also, for the price point, I’ll stick to my cab of choice which is 2/3 the price of Unshackled. I’ll keep a bottle of this for variety, when having friends or family over.

Great wine for the price. They have great selection of wines from Cabs, Merlot, Zin if this is your first time drinking wine. Pour into glass and let it sit for 20mins. On the nose, you will expect a bursting bouquet of cherries, dark chocolate, clove and roasted fig, followed by juicy ripe fruit flavours.

Notes of raspberry and boysenberry with hints of pomegranate give way to a lingering taste of warm vanilla on the palate. A long, smooth finish lingers in your mouth.

A pretty standard red. I believe this one tended more toward the dry side, and I tend to prefer slightly sweet wines. But it was decent wine at a decent price, and with interesting branding. I received this as a gift and think it would be a fun wine to give to someone else as a gift, too.

I am not a big fan of wine and I hate dry wine. So, keep that in mind while reading my review. I have tried a few cheap wines since I loathe beer and buying what I need for mixed drinks gets pricey. I hated white zinfandel, tasted like sour grapes.

Pink moscato wasn’t too bad, much less sour grape taste. I love sweet stuff. So, I tried this based on the reviews. It’s a “meh” for me. Yeah, it’s fairly sweet, there’s no grapes gone bad taste and it’s not a dry wine at all, but I don’t love it.

It tastes terrible. There was no flavor. I tasted like warm bark (tree bark). I tried to chill it and tried it again. It then tasted like cold bark.

Shockingly good wine for the price! This is great for pairing dinner with red wine and it lasts a long time since it is a big size! I find it at Kroger and Total Wine and More. I will definitely continue to purchase this- I’m not a wine snob, so as long as it tastes amazing, who cares?!.

This wine taste and smelled like vinegar! I had to pour the entire bottle out! Waste of money.

It does say , a Pinot with a kick, yes. That’s true . And it was nice with chicken fajitas

I really enjoyed the Merlot and the Pino Grigio! The Merlot is complex without being heavy and goes very well with spicy Mexican or Italian favorites! The Pino Grigio is delicate and pairs very well with chicken, seafood, or light snacks.

I actually prefer both wines well chilled especially in the summer. (Please don’t faint, Martha!) Thanks for expanding my horizons!.

Smooth, velvety. An absolute pleasure to drink. Martha’s curations are the best . We are always pleased. When we want European wines, we buy it from Martha Stewart winery.

I ordered the Zinfandel and it is beyond expectations. Zinfandel is hard to find and this one is superb. It’s my second order and I will order again. It pairs well with meats and is very smooth.

Really delicious, and above and beyond what I would expect from a merlot. Not that I don’t enjoy merlots, but this rivals the cab for full bodied taste and depth. Rich and full of flavor. I’d say, the best merlot I’ve ever tasted.

I need to preface this with the caveat that I’m a fan of dark and intense wines. I was expecting a low to mid range quality wine, but I didn’t even get that. I hope what I got was a bad bottle that was somehow cooked in delivery or something.

The jammy quality that others described in their reviews is not at all what I experienced. It was very tannic, as is to be expected. It sucks the moisture right out of your mouth, which would indicate that this really should only be drank with food.

This wine NEEDS umami to balance it out for sure. Again, I like a dry cab and am capable of enjoying it without food and appreciating it still. But this wasn’t possible here. The wine was extremely bitter and almost balsamic vinegar in color, texture, and aftertaste.

I enjoyed the plum color left behind as I chucked my full glass into the sink. I noted that would be an indication of quality. if this were quality. I’m leaving the remainder of the bottle to breathe overnight, and I’ll give it another swig.

If it softens a bit, great. If not, I’ve got some great base for pasta sauce. Or toilet bowl cleaner. Jury is out.

No vinegar aftertaste. Had it with Prime rib and it was very complimentary. I thought it was very silky and had beautiful blackberry undertones. I also made an audience jus sauce with it that was very good on the prime rib.

I’ll definitely be saving this bottle so I can have it again.

unique cab. very smooth with the dark color you expect from a cab. plum and vanilla on the nose. maple and vanilla is evident upon sipping, can maybe even be considered “sugary. ” not sure if this is meant for wine newbies, but for $10, it seems like a very good wine at a great price!.

Barefoot pinot noir is my go-to red wine because I do like big sips! Lower tannins, won’t leave my mouth dry or chalky. It’s perfect as a treat after dinner or even during. Even goes great with a dessert.

I feel like this wine is great for those that shy away from reds. So, if you’re having a get together or want to give red wine a go, choose this!.

This wine give me heartburn/makes me gag it’s nothing like it describes on the bottle. Do not buy this wine unless you’re looking for a headache. Maybe I’m biased because my family owns a winery and our Pinot Noir so much better but this wine is absolutely disgusting and tastes like vinegar.

Would not recommend!!! It has no legs and does not taste like cherry at all.

For the price, it’s a decent Pinot Noir; are there better? definitely. One of our week night wines, we always have bottles on hand. Weekends, that’s a different topic altogether.

It’s just. ok. i don’t know what I don’t like about it. Maybe it’s that you need half a glass before it settles into your pallet. I am sure with the right meal it would work better. Maybe a steak or something.

If it was on sale I would probably get it again. I don’t love it or hate it. It isn’t my first choice in reds, but better than most. My review is terrible, I’m sorry.

I purchased this for 6$ at cvs. I’m 26 and just recently go into red wine last year, this wine is phenomenal. I bought it on a whim noticing it was the last on the shelf. It smells like smooth dark berry upon opening.

Give soft a clean smell in the glass not bitterness in the fumes. Upon drinking you encounter the dark rich berry, which fades to a raspberry and vanilla mixture. No harshness left on the tongue, just sticky enough to have a good feel but not sticky enough to dry your mouth out.

Goes down super smooth, I could get dangerously drunk of a couple bottles of these. 11/10.

This wine is not offensive but that also lends itself to not being very complex (which might be ok for some). If I was hosting a dinner on a budget, I would certainly pour this wine as it’s going to please the majority of your guests.

The Cab snob isn’t going to turn their nose up at it but it isn’t so in your face that your Pinot Drinker will shy away.

For a Wine that’s under $10/bottle, it’s smooth and well balanced. I’ve always ordered a case or 2. It’s a tad better than Carnivore. The only drawback is the Food Coloring. It does leave your tongue purple for a while!.

I’ve been drinking this for 3 or 4 years now. It is the best Zin I know, and worth the price. However, if you are looking for a less expensive, but very good zin, I recommend Predator, which is almost half the price.

Unfortunately with Predator, you will be losing that fullness on the pallet that you experience with Earthquake. Earthquake is full bodied with a beautiful velvety structure. It has that intensity of fruit flavor that one looks for.

However it greats the mouth with smooth warm subtlety from start to finish. Predator compared to Earthquake feels “watered down” a bit. It has shiny bright notes of fruit; unfortunately, it doesn’t envelope the mouth like Earthquake does, nor is it as consistent and smooth from beginning to end as the clear winner, in my book, Earthquake.

But hey, we cant always drink $20 bottles of wine, especially for large parties; so, Predator is my go to value zin, while Earthquake is my absolute favorite zinfandel.

Colour is a fantastically deep purply red. Nose is not too prominent So easy to drink, fairly high in sugar, you expect an aggressive kick to follow the full and smooth early taste but it doesn’t come.

Very enjoyable. I would like more pronounced flavours as I’ve come to expect from good cab savs, but this is still a very nice drink.

Ever since I read the Consumer’s Report on wines quite a few years ago, I’ve been a huge fan of Turning Leaf Merlot. They rated it the best Merlot. I buy it by the case, as I no longer live close to a Total Wine any more – so whenever I travel where there is one, I buy cases of the 750ml and 1.

5L. Every once in a while – about every 15 bottles or so, I get one that is a slightly vinegary, but still very good. It is excellent and very reasonably priced.

You people are very hard to please (or spoiled). For the price per bottle this wine cannot be compared to any other. Enjoy the wine and especially the price. Believe me, you will be pleasantly surprised!.

It’s smooth, dry and a favorite of mine. The low cost is a delightful bonus.

To me this is a fruity cab, full of juicy black fruit but without being jammy. I found it on the dry vice sweet side, which I prefer. It’s a nice full mouthfeel, smooth with a slightly astringent finish that also had chocolate overtones.

I detected hardly any oak at all. I’ve added another bottle to my future buy list, but in this price range, I also recommend Z Alexander Brown Uncaged if you’ve not tried that yet. This was for the 2019 and not the 2018.

This is a fabulous wine! It is rich and soft on the tongue and can stand up to heavy meats or stand alone as a sipping wine. The tannins are soft while the wine is fairly bold with dark fruit overtones.

The finish is smooth and the flavors linger.

Finally tried the Caymus Special Selection after enjoying several bottles of the “regular” Caymus recently. I had to see if it was worth the premium. and it was! Upon opening the bottle, the aroma coming out was amazing.

The wine is remarkably smooth with a very long velvety finish.

Overripe fruit, aggressive tannins, heavy extraction, and high alcohol. Too much oak!!!! There is nothing interesting or surprising about this wine. Reminded of drinking sugary grape juice after school as a boy.

I got this as an anniversary gift for some good friends. They loved it. And the delivery service by Total Wine was great as well, including a same day redo when the first attempt could not be completed.

Had this by chance at a steak house and was happily surprised with the HUGE value. Deep, dark, rich, without being over the top in ripeness or alcohol level. Nice structure (tannins/ acid) but not super mouth puckering.

Nice long, lingering finish. Drinks nice now, great match to meaty/ fatty component. Total crowd pleaser with our group made up of novices and pros alike. Will be interesting to see how it ages/ develops.

big California fruits, black cherries and blackberries, with pepper and tobacco. I tasted, then decanted for about an hour and it opened up quite a bit. This is a fantastic value, a seriously well-structured red blend from start to mid-palate to long finish.

I think the winemaker used to make wine for Screaming Eagle.

I had it at Barcha in SF, with Mediterranean food. Slightly dry yet smooth and fairly full body, Cab forward blend! It was a 4.7 for me.
