20 Best Winter Washer Fluid (2022 Updated)

The Prestone De-Icer was well worth the $7. 00/gallon. My windshield is clean, clear and void of ice! I was concerned at first not knowing how strong this liquid was BUT compared to my fathers vehicle equipped with an electric grid windshield de-icer my use of Prestone De-Icer worked faster and keeps my view clear while driving! Highly recommend! A++++.

I was with my daughter shopping for wiper blades and the sales rep came up and just started chatting with us. Telling my daughter what the difference between on bald manufacturer from the next and we decided on one and he gave us this Prestone Bug wash which my daughter says really saved her.

She drives into the sun and sometimes there is a film on the windshield well not anymore this stuff works so much better than the previous one she replaced it with. Squeaky clean she said. BTW this AZ has the best sales associates.

I walk in they greet me and always friendly and ready to help. Not like their competitor up the road.

This wash doesn’t make your wipers skip across the windshield. Smells more like a soap than a chemical coming thru your vents when you use it. The pollen is extreme where I live inGA and it cleans up the windshield just fine.

Along with bugs (as long as you don’t wait a week to wipe them off). Walmart stores have discontinued selling but online Walmart is still available. I ordered 3 boxes and they arrived at my home in 3 days.

No damage. Price is worth what the item is.

I’ve been using Prestone Bug Wash for years because it’s the best windshield washer fluid I’ve found to date. Every once in a while, I’ll try something new/improved, but it never does as well as Prestone Bug Wash in getting the bug guts off.

Yes, I love how Rain-X beads the water off of the windshield better than Prestone Bug Wash, but Rain-X does NOT get the bug guts off like Prestone Bug Wash. I live on the central west coast of Florida and travel 30 miles each way to work every day.

We have LOTS of bugs here, including swarms of Love Bugs twice a year, and I go out of my way to get to an Auto Zone to get this stuff because Advance Auto and other auto parts stores don’t carry it.

“Repels water” it uses something similar to RainX. It puts a waxy film on the windshield that makes driving directly towards the rising or setting sun or bright glares an impossible/dangerous task. This concoction is dangerous to use for east-west commuters on a sunny day.

(As is any product similar to Rain-X). I would buy $. 99/gal gas station blue water before I buy this. On several occasions, I had to use the Windex and paper towels I keep in the car for normal car window cleaning to clean this stuff off.

Prestone WITHOUT this water repellant is my favorite 5-star product. Today, I’m going out to find a store that sells the NON-water repellant version of Prestone Windshield Cleaner. I prefer to use “Prestone AS250 De-Icer Windshield Washer Fluid” year round.

(I do not work for Prestone).

Rain-X’s 2-in-1 was having serious trouble removing bugs. It is also known to foul washer fluid sensors. While I have no such sensor to worry about, the bug issue was becoming obnoxious. Given it is lovebug season, I had to find better stuff.

This washer fluid is significantly better at removing the bugs. While it is not perfect, it is certainly the best I have found so far. It tends to only have trouble removing the ‘baked on’ or dried bugs.

Also, unlike the Rain-X stuff, I am no longer getting odd ‘mineral deposit like’ outlines of where bug splatters were.

It’s my favorite washer fluid because it doesn’t freeze up in the winter like others. It does really well both in summer and winter.

I recommend that the Rockport Wal Mart stock this item. This type of washer fluid is nonexistent in South Texas. There are huge numbers of people from the frozen north in this area during the winter.

We need to use the anti-freeze washer solution or our systems can freeze up on the way home or back down in the fall.

I live in south Florida and don’t need the “winterized” fluid. I really just bought the Rain-X brand because I didn’t want to buy cheap colored water. Turns out that this was a big mistake because I put half in my vehicle and half in the wife’s.

A few weeks later, this stuff had congealed at the bottom of the washer tanks, and now neither vehicle can spray washer fluid. The flow of fluid gradually decreased until there was nothing coming out and you can hear the pump motors still running.

If I had to take the vehicles in to have this repaired it would cost me at least $100 and that’s if the pumps aren’t clogged up. Even though it’s a project to remove the tanks, I will have remove/clean them, and hope everything still works.

What a nightmare for a $3 bottle of washer fluid!.

RAIN-X is the best windshield cleaner. All-season clear visibility. It puts a film on the windshield that helps keep the glass clean all the time. Raindrops don’t attach to the glass. It is possible to drive in rain without windshield wipers if necessary [old wiper arm broke, causing damage to windshield glass].

Bug splatters and dirt scum clean away easier. Orange RAIN-X doesn’t freeze at least to the low 20’sF. Orange RAIN-X in Winter; green RAIN-X in Summer.

First, it does its job of cleaning my windshield. Second, I do not have to worry about seasonal temperature changes. If you live farther north, then a zero degree rating may not be sufficient. But, for Texas, I can depend on this product all year round with no worries from rare freezes — even the historic 17 degF freezes in Houston a few years ago.

First used Rain-X original in the 1980s, great stuff however once you use the wipers the coating wears off. Have used other brands of washer fluid, usually concentrates to be diluted depending on lowest operating temperature.

Then Rain-X got smart and created washer fluid for a good price, no need to dilute, which does a great job cleaning, using a slightly soapy consistency like you wish gas station squeegee buckets had.

Trust Rain-X, they’ve spent over 40 years perfecting their products.

For the uninitiated, Rainx helps rain/water bead up and run off your windows without the use of windshield wipers. The downside is that if you do use your wipers, it doesn’t stick around long – even a properly applied coat can easily be gone after a few hours of driving with the wipers on.

Enter rainx washer fluid. It basically is like constantly applying Rainx to your windshield! Keeps water beading off literally as long as you use it. Takes away the hassle of constantly reapplying. Only downside is it really only works on the swept areas; the edges and top of your windshield where the wipers don’t reach really don’t see any benefit from using this.

I’ve been using this fluid for a few years now, I specifically like it so much because when it rains, no matter how hard, I literally don’t even need to use my wipers. The raindrops just run right off! Also it does an excellent job at cleaning and has never frozen on me.

The only drawback I can think of of this rain X washer fluid is that it’s stains my washer reservoir orange. I don’t think it would matter to 99% of retailers, but there’s always is that 1% who might.

This washer fluid is the stuff I look for during cold and icy winters. It really clears a windshield much better than the all-season blue washer fluid.

Rain-X all season washer fluid is fantastic for those that live in an area that can see fluctuations in weather. With a price that is competitive to non-brand names, I highly recommend this product. I am extremely satisfied with the results.

This has been a tough winter for Northern New England. With two vehicles, we blew through windshield washer solution. I found this solution to be as good as any for about half the price. My local Sam’s Club kept running out of it, so I had to order it under click and pull, and left them a note to hold on to it and not put it back in the store inventory.

I learned some lessons about winter safety this winter. Michelin snow tires and high-quality winter wiper blades literally saved my life this winter. Having an all-wheel-drive Volvo didn’t hurt either.

Now I will make sure that my Family always has good quality winter wiper blades as well as great snow tires.

I bought this 6 pack since I have four drivers in the family that their vehicles all needed washer fluid. I put the other 2 unused bottles in the garage for the next time someone needs fluid. Great price and as long as you have a place to store the unused ones, I’ld go for it! Or if you run a gas station perfect for keeping your washer fluid filled for a low price.

Peak windshield wash and deicer works great and never freezes up. Priced extremely fair in the 6 bottle pack. I shared extra bottles with family and neighbors!

this product is as good as it gets! it could use a little better “deicing” properties but what can you expect from a cold product spraying onto a Frozen windshield. it’s best quality is applying Rain-X on your windshield at every time you use your wiper blades that’s brilliant.

you can get you a set of Rain-X wiper blades to add to this fine product and it’s constantly putting Rain-X on your windshield and you won’t even need wiper blades sooner than later use it for a couple months and the water just beads right off.

The temp this morning is 17˚F. I used remote start to start my vehicle and get it warmed up. When I got inside it, I tried to use my windshield washer fluid to finish off the small amount of frost left on my windshield but I got nothing.

The wipers came on and worked but no fluid came out. Definitely a misleading branding.

I went into my local O’Reilly Auto Parts store looking for windshield washer fluid. I looked around and found the O’Reilly brand fluid stacked in the middle of the aisle. I walked right over and grabbed a one gallon jug.

I went up to the service counter and made my purchase. Little did I know, that I would receive an email, asking ME to review this magical elixir. I poured it into the windshield fluid reservoir in my vehicle.

I was very pleased with this product, it seemed just as wet, and just as blue as the product I has used previously.

I had an interesting experience as the sales associate tried to tell me the purple washer fluid was far superior. I took the bait and asked why I would pay double. He proceeded to explain that the expensive fluid wouldn’t freeze when in use on a very cold day.

I told him that was not a problem I’d ever run into as my defroster on my truck keeps the windshield from being freezing cold making it a nonissue.

I decided to buy this house brand and that was a massive mistake. I usually keep 2 containers in my trunk. They are strapped down. Went to refill my washer tank and they were both half empty. My car is musty now.

These things leaked from the seam at the bottom and destroyed my trunk liner and emergency jump starter. Going to go with the National brands that don’t package their liquids in thin sandwich bags. HUGE waste of money.

I am a food delivery driver and I often work when it’s dark out and during winter it snows a lot. The day I received the Rain-X in the mail I immediately Put 1/3 of the bottle it my newly filled washer fluid tank.

I sprayed it a few times and noticed the difference right away. My windshield had been quite dirty from a snow storm the day before that I had barely scrapped off with a gas station squeegee. These was a clear line showing where the wipers has cleaned my windshield with the Rain-X vs.

the gas station squeegee around the edges that the wipers don’t get. My windshield was crystal clear while the rest of my car was dirty. I continued to spray the fluid during the night while I was out driving and it continued to snow.

I was able to see apartment building numbers more easily than ever. The only thing I’m not super confident on is that the bottle says 1/3 should last with a full bottle of windshield washer fluid. I feel like I’ve noticed a difference and that my windshield isn’t as clear the more I’ve used that initial 1/3 part.

Maybe that’s because the snow has been so heavy lately. I might try refilling or using more since it does work well, just not as long as stated maybe. Also store the bottle right side up, do not allow to lay down.

Mine fell over in the truck and leaked a little. Would recommend!.

The Craziest thing. Your gonna add this to your window washing fluid tank and its gonna be blue just like in the original bottle! And thats just the beginning if you use your window washing fluid spray button in your car it sprays this (what now appears clear) fluid onto your window! This stuff is amazing who would have thought that a windshield washing fluid would be so useful in a window washing fluid tank and on a window when you want it washed.

These guys are great! Next thing you know there gonna come out with other crazy functional things like maybe oil that goes into your oil tank!?! Keep up the good work!.

I only needed some basic washer fluid and all the shelves were close to empty. I guess the rain created high demand. I did get one bottle of the last bottles of concentrate. When I went to check out I made a comment to the clerk about the empty shelves.

He offered to go check in the back. He then returned and said they were just breaking down a new delivery and he would dig through it to find what I was looking for if I didn’t mind waiting. I did wait and he found what I wanted.

This product is just as good if not better than some of the “name brands” on the market. It cleans the bugs, dust and other debris from my windshield with no problem! Also, having great wiper blades helps this product function as it was intended.

I especially like that this product works in cold weather as well. With some of the more expensive products, I had to push my windshield cleaning button numerous times to get it cleaned, but one push does the job for me in most cases.

I will continue to use this “store brand” for my vehicle and I highly recommended it!.

Yes, yes, I know – sounds ridiculous, right? But when I went out to get the frost off my windows for the first time the can was in the car so I shook it vigorously and tried to spray it on the windshield and it wouldn’t spray.

I had to ultimately let it drip onto the top of the windows and melts as it flowed down the windows. Call me an idiot, but this definitely isn’t “idiot proof!” And, no, I’m not a “car guy” but I did read the instructions and did everything it said to do.

I thought it was just this can but then the s3cond can that I bought with the 1st did the same thing.

I cannot reccomnd this enough. This is my favorite thing ever. All you do is spray it on your windshield and it melts all the snow and ice away easily. Its great for people who have hybrid cars that wont heat up as well.

I know the scent shouldn’t even be a priority, but I’ve got to say I just love how this stuff smells. Every time I spray it while driving, I can smell it in my car. It’s fresh and clean-smelling, like a new car smell.

On to the actual performance, it works amazingly for cleaning the windshield. Cuts through bugs like nothing else. I even dump some directly from the bottle onto a rag to clean my other windows. Will repurchase again and again.

We live in Florida and there are seasons where the bugs hit the windows like rain. This is THE only windshield washer that actually keeps the bug guts from smushing around the glass. The competitor products just leave streaky messes and this one doesn’t.

Thanks for making another quality product, Rain-X. This was on sale when I bought it so I got a few for bug season. which is every weekend now.

Great wiper fluid that leaves a coat of Rain-X to help keep stuff from sticking in the first place. Rain will bead off allowing less use of the wipers while it’s raining. Hot summer bugs should still be rinsed while fresh – if they dry on, they’ll still need to be scrubbed.

I use this in the summer, and the antifreeze version in the winter to keep the grime down. It does have a strong odor, and is a little more expensive than the other stuff.

Not great on bugs, but it does not freeze and break your windshield washer pump if you pay attention to the freezing temperature on the bottle. In Texas we do not get the very cold rated stuff, but a little isopropyl alcohol added to it can fix keep it from freezing in a cold snap.

After looking up the freezing point of alcohol and my tanks capacity, I did a little math and added a pint of 90% alcohol to my motor homes tank before the BIG FREEZE came in Feb of 2021. Worked fine.

Could be better on bugs.

This product does NOT live up to it’s claims. During the first real freeze of winter, the fluid froze. The temperature never went below zero degrees Fahrenheit. The fluid froze up and was useless. I could not clean my windshield of the dirt and debris.

The description and product packaging indicates that it can withstand temperatures up to negative 20 degrees. I would NOT recommend purchasing or using this product. Spend the little bit extra and go with the name brand product.

This stuff is not as good as Prestone Wiper Fluid. Cleaning your windshield with this stuff is like going through a car wash without the rinse cycle. Suds, suds, suds. then a foggy, soap-filmed streaky mess is left behind.

Clear water would do a better job of cleaning your windshield. Bought this for the anti-freeze properties, but it’s not staying in my tank long enough for it to get cold. Going now to buy all weather Prestone like we should’ve done in the first place.

Great fluid – allows you to dilute to your specific climate/freezing point. Can stretch this stuff further in the summer and then concentrate it more in the winter when temperatures drop. The small bottles are a huge plus in my opinion.

After I dilute with distilled water in a gallon jug, I refill the small bottles and throw them in my trunk in case I need to top up while on the road. Much more convenient than storing a large jug of extra fluid in an already cramped trunk.

The bottle comes with comprehensive dilution instructions for each region which are easy to follow. The cleaner does good work when used, spots and dirt removed with ease.

Cant find windshield washer fluid at Walmart that goes below freezing. It is very expensive at the auto stores. So this is an ideal solution

New in town and went to Autozone. That quickly read and researched my engine warning light and we could see that it wasn’t urgent. This was my daughter’s car and so she could safely return home as planned – a 300 mile drive.

I didn’t need anything but wanted to buy something useful as a thanks. I’ve since gone back to that store for something I needed just because they were so friendly and helpful. Note – I passed a competitor on the way because the Benbrook AutoZone is where I trade now.
