20 Best Winter Work Clothes (2022 Updated)

Wow, I’m a whimp for the cold. This jacket is the best work jacket I’ve used. Good range of motion, warm, durable and professional looking. I pair this with the artic duck overalls and I stay toasty.

I’ve even found a trick to cool off a little when temps climb during the day. I un zip the jacket but snap the snaps on. Cools you fast. Will by again but it might be a while to do that. I will have to order a much smaller size soon.

This seems to be a quality item however I wish it would have been disclosed that there is elastic in the back above the waste. I personally don’t care for that type of fit so I wouldn’t have bought it if I had known.

Outstanding design and craftsmanship. Refrigiwear has maintained this level of craftsmanship since I can remember, and I am hopeful that they will continue to do so.

Being from ND we know something about parkas. This is a good attempt, but misses some key features, and some features could be better implemented. The good, it’s cut well to allow mobility, and it has enough room in your normal size to layer.

The zipper is good, especially being able to zip up from the bottom for getting in/out of vehicles etc. Material seems durable, no surprise there, reflectors are a plus. Now for the misses. The hood needs to be more adjustable, there is velcro in the back to adjust the height of the hood, but it needs to be longer down the back allowing for the hood to be pulled back further.

The cuffs have the same problem, the velcro should allow for the outer cuff to cinch down further, doing so also allows the user to secure the hood from flopping around when not in use (nothing more annoying than working in the wind with a hood flopping over your head when you don’t want it to).

The waist cinch is 2-3″ too high. The snap closure pockets are worthless with heavy gloves or mittens on you will never get them re-snapped, all pockets should be heavy duty velcro. The exterior vertical chest zipper pockets outside should be taller, there’s no getting a gloved hand in them.

The interior pockets should be deeper with a taller zipper. The lower side pockets should be lined thicker and on both sides not just one to better provide warmth. Total misses: All parka’s need a cinch at the bottom of the jacket, not just the waist.

This keeps wind from blowing up inside the jacket, huge miss here.

Outstanding coat. Owned for 3 months……. It does what is says, and what it does best is Blocks Severe Fast Cold Wind like nobody’s business. It’s Heavy in weight due to the tough quality long lasting materials.

Love all the front zipper pockets, as it gives me a piece of mind my belongings will Never fall out. Front hand pockets are Hugh and have a nice large opening allowing me to use them with my extreme Carhart Gloves comfortably they are also fleece lined to keep your hands warm if you forget your gloves behind.

Smooth interior coat lining makes it a breeze taking on and off. Love the 3m reflector location on front and back for outdoor day or night time visibility when dealing with oncoming car traffic. This jacket stores a lot of EDC gear while keeping all of your carry items very organized.

Product runs big in size…so consider going down 1 size when buying. I am 6ft 250lbs and the XL fits soooooo perfectly…. I tried a XXL and it was sooooo big, XXL I RECOMMEND FOR SOMEONE 280LBS-320Lbs in that 6 foot range.

I have several Carhartt items, this jacket was the most expensive item and the most disappointing. The velcro that is used on the flap to cover the zipper gets stuck to all of my clothes, which leaves the velcro tab looking like a dirty lint trap.

Not to mention all of my sweaters and dresses that now have permanent marks from where the velcro stuck and wrecked them. The coat also attracts every fiber and hair possible. I tried washing the coat, using anti static spray but nothing works, I literally have to lint roll my jacket every day if I want to look presentable.

The double zipper is a joke, every time I sit down, the bottom half of the zipper unzips its self. Finally, the fit of the coat works great if you NEVER want to move your arms. It is a nice looking coat and it is warm, however it took me 3 years to talk myself into spending this much money.

This is a great jacket! I work for a small sausage company and needed a jacket that I could wear doing lots of different tasks throughout the day. In the cold mornings, this jacket is comfortable to move around in while I load and unload the trucks with product, and the deep, secure pockets definitely keep my hands warm while I’m selling sausages at the farmers market.

Lighter in weight than you’d think, It also happens to be a good looking, classically styled coat with a really cute retro logo. The only thing I’d add would be a hook loop to hang it from.

I am a service tech. For a commercial roofing company. Ice and snow melting an refreezing cause leaks. One story high or ten. No matter the temp. or wind.

I work for one of the catering companies that serve the airlines. My work shift is spent inside a cooler so I wanted a jacket that could handle the cold. The jacket works perfectly I wasn’t cold at all.

My only issue was it felt too bulky especially the arms. I’d still use the jacket for cold weather & I opted to order a Refrigiwear vest so I would have more freedom of movement. I’ve never been disappointed with any of their products I would however wish they’d make cooler pants in black PLZ!.

I’ve only just got these pants so I can’t attest to their durability, but I was overjoyed when I first got them. The flannel is very soft and warm, the stretch of the fabric is just right, and thank the stars there’s a crotch gusset.

I’m a bike mechanic/instructor in Alaska, and have been fruitlessly searching for the perfect work pant for a while. I’ve tried pants from Topo, American Giant, Carhartt, Rapha, Duluth, and Dickies, and these seem to fit the bill.

I like the access for the rear pockets, although I’m concerned about forgetting my whole toolset in them. The flannel lining stops below the knee, but when paired with some long underwear are an excellent outdoor work pant.

The only concern I have is that the front pockets are made of the flannel lining material which I am a little disappointed to see on a work pant. I expect it won’t take long for screwdrivers, wrenches, and keys to wear through.

But all around, quite happy with the construction and fit, nicely done.

The fit, quality and styling of these pants is great. But a few things bothered me. The big one, they are only lined in certain places. Makes sense not having lining on your lower legs, I guess, but the front of your pelvis? (crotch) That’s an important area to keep warm.

For the price this feels chintzy. Also price-related, you can buy true carhartt, fully lined work pants for a lot less. I have a pair of those and there is a lot more to them, when I pick them up they feel twice the weight of the OR pants.

But they do make you look like you just stepped off construction site. So these OR pants are for when you want a work pant vibe, with some extra warmth, but the most important thing is that you look good.

These are great pants. The combination of a tough cloth (think Carhart) and the warm partial lining with waterproof areas is perfect for many conditions. They fit well at the natural waist and are true to actual size.

They seemed just a shade long but after a wash they fit well. The colour is strong enough to be distinctive without being overpowering. I like these and expect to get long use out of them.

Bought this mostly for Virginia weather/winter and dog walking. Many people report issues with the zipper but I haven’t had any issues at all. You just have to make sure the bottom zipper is in the right place and then the top will zip/unzip.

The bottom zipper has never separated when sitting and coat isn’t too bulky for a short car ride. Coat is warm, but not solid warm in 20 degree cold. but does just fine in 30-40 degrees for a dog walk.

I still have to have a sweatshirt or sweater on too. I can definitely tell a difference if I dont. Love the mid thigh length and it keeps me warm and makes me realize the cold on the parts of my legs that aren’t covered by the coat.

The shape is very roomy. I wish it was a little more fitted in the waist area to be cuter but the roominess allows for a more bulky sweater or hoodie underneath. The hood is really big and I had to cinch it to make it not flop over my face.

and that worked great for the adjustment. The hood is awesome when the wind is whipping and is roomy enough I can throw it over top of my knit hat with a ball on top of it and still fits over it. I love the coat.

it might could be a titch warmer but if that was the case I probably would be sweating in it. I bought it in black. The fur appears to just snap on/off around the hood. I haven’t removed it yet. Pockets and the mid section and back of the inside of coat are lined in this short warm fur like material that is very comfy cozy.

My only complaint is the pockets zip open/shut. which I always leave unzipped. and when they are unzipped my hand catches the corner of the zipper area and I wish that wasn’t there. I am super happy with my purchase.

Would def recommend! I wear a 6 and bought this in a Small. it is still pretty roomy but arm length is perfect.

I gave this jacket four stars as it features a common issue in jackets now a days. The arms are so tight that you cannot get a sweater or more than one layer under it. The snugness can be a bit uncomfortable when moving certain ways.

The color and warmth of the jacket are very nice; not ‘gale’ nice, but def below freezing nice. Toasty for a walk to the car or a quick walk to the market. I like the ‘double’ zip so that when I sit down, I can unzip from the bottom to relieve stress on the zipper and make sitting or driving more comfortable.

I have received compliments on the jacket whenever I wear it. There is some fleece lining around the chest/back area which extends up to the chin area and the removeable hood is lined. I do wish the fleece had been extended from the chest down the length of the jacket, as when it is windy, you can feel the wind below the chest area.

The biggest drawback for me was the narrow sleeves. I don’t know why this is so common in ladies jackets these days. I guess folks don’t dress in layers as they used to, given that most of our excursions include jumping into a car to get where we are going.

We’re not such a ‘walking’ people these days. This jacket would be good to go outside for a walk in as long as there is not much wind. I guess this jacket is good for what I bought it for. If you are looking for an outside jacket for snowshoeing or any lengthy outdoor winter adventure, this is not the jacket for you.

I got the green and it is a nice, soft green with a slight sheen.

I bought the baltic teal and the dark clay in XL. The fit is good on me (very curvy; 48in bust, 38in waist, 49in hips) and I like the diagonal sewing, which is more slimming that the horizontal versions that I had in a M/L a few years ago.

There is enough room to layer underneath and I have big upper arms but can still easily cross them in this coat. The hood is lovely too, fits snuggly and I like that it doesn’t have velcro (last coat from LE did and it ruined my knitted gloves).

I forgot this has micro fleece inside, and it is a nice, cozy addition, although I wish it wasn’t in the hood b/c I have curly hair. The baltic teal looks exactly as in the picture and is very rich – I will be keeping it.

I didn’t have high hopes for the dark clay, since washed out pinks aren’t good on me. In some of the pictures the dark clay almost looks ballet pink, but others a more muted color. I was shocked at how brown/mauve it really is.

It has a nice sheen to it and I’m sure it would look good on some people, but I was very disappointed by how little it looked like the photos. I would not have purchased it if the photos had reflected the color more accurately.

I’VE HAD OTHER FLEECE JACKET AND ARE HEAVY,TOO MUCH MATERIAL BOTH LOWER SLEERVES WERE TOO SMALL TO PUT MY HANDS THRU. ROTHCO KEEPS YOU WARM. THIS IS THE PERFECT GEN 3 FLEECE JACKET.

First I have to mention that the price of the products is what drew me to the store. But I was very impressed by the fact they are a small business but they make you feel as if your business is very important to them and they do everything to make you comfortable and happy.

I would like to see their small business become a very large business and I will do my part.

Rorthco’s version of the Gen III fleece lacks zippered pockets and has too short sleeves. But Propper did the same thing with the official USGI version.

The jacket has a very beautiful green color, and it looks incredibly nice overall. I gave it 4 stars because it is not true-to-size (i wear M but the S was right for me).

While needing to work around my farm amid very cold conditions this winter, I had settled on the lined jeans from another brand, which didn’t fit well (the legs are huge in diameter, & the waist size seems too big).

Later, I found a local dealer that had a pair of Wolverine lined jeans that are just my size, & they’re perfect. I’ve had them on while doing chores as low as 15 degrees outside, & they’re great. The quality of the fabric & workmanship is excellent.

Not the cheapest you’ll find, but worth it! Recommended.

I purchased 2 pr. some time back and was very happy. The ones I received this time did not have the same feel. It seems like the fabric was thinner or finished differently. There were a lot of threads hanging at the seams that left me uncertain whether to pull them, cut them, or if I will see seams unraveling.

Time will tell. I prefer the original heavier feel to the fabric.

I have been casting around for work pants that would fit him as his body has changed with time. I would just come up with the ‘baggy butt’ deal. They’d fit in the waist and the length but the butt would be totally baggy.

These fit great all over except they would ideally have just a skosh more room at the waistline.

Hope this jacket is a good and will hold up as long as the Schmidt one it is replacing. I lost a considerable amount of weight and had to purchase new cold weather barn wear. Berne is now offered instead of the Schmidt.

My Schmidt jacket was over 10 years old, faded and stained, but still in very good condition with little wear showing. I could not give a five star rating yet because they were just purchased and we haven’t had any weather cold enough to wear them since they arrived.

Also, the color is unattractive. Would love these if they were available in a medium or dark blue.

I ALWAYS have trouble finding coats that fit! Because I lift weights, I have broad shoulders and smaller waist. So if I get a coat that fits my waist, I have to unzip to put my hands on the steering wheel (or hold my arms out in front of me).

This coat rocks! It fits my waist and hips perfectly while giving my upper body room to move and breathe! I usually have to get a large/XL coat to fit my upper body, but then it makes me look twice my size.

I got this coat in a Medium and it fits great! Not only that but the fabric feels durable but doesn’t look like a work coat. Looking forward to wearing this one!.

Pros: Very comfortable. I wore it downtown by Lake Erie with 40mph winds and 15 degrees and it was warm and windproof. The hood is a great size, not overly big like my old Carhartt, not too small. Tough outer shell.

Spacious design for full movement. Hand pockets are warm. Cons: The brass zipper is very stiff and sticks a couple inches up and takes some work. My first coat ripped on the inside a couple inches up from the Zipper.

TSC replaced it no charge. Overall I love my jacket. I’m looking forward to see how warm it is next winter when it’s under 10 degrees.

Surprisingly high quality for the price in comparison to typical GoreText hiking jackets. Tough material, highly reflective. Nice modern fit. The hood has modern adjustments making a snug fit around the head and can just about accommodate a hard hat.

Perfect pocket orientation. Not as breathable as an expensive GoreTex hiking jacket but far more robust which is what I need for my work. I am pleased with my purchase and looking forward to putting it through its paces.

I would recommend this jacket.

Great product it has new style zip you just need to learn to use it. The heat reflect stripe works great you can actually feel warmer. I am not sure about that stain protection layer, I can say it’s good quality jacket.

I would recommend to anyone.

Great jacket seems like everything is very good quality. Had to send mine back though as it is very short in the body and because of working in a chilled warehouse I need something longer. A real shame as otherwise it’s a great jacket.

Been waiting for these after wearing my 6 pairs of the Shop Pant daily during the week in warmer weather for last couple years. Bought 7 pairs of these as my xmas present and have been wearing a pair of them daily since, including weekends.

Great warm pant for active use, not too thick but enough to keep me warm in unheated warehouse space and while walking the dog in winter. Not too warm to wear in a heated space like around the house, but don’t want to get too active working in these in a heated space.

Even outside, if you do start to heat up these can sweat up with that rubber rain-coat effect pretty quickly, but with a waterproof pant that is pretty much always the case in my experience, even with the “breathable” ones.

Overall design is great and I really like the 1620 cut-not as baggy and ill-fitting as the flannel-lined work pants these replaced. Material has held up really well so far. Not a huge fan of the zippered back pockets, I prefer the pocket style of the shop pant but that’s not a big deal.

Would be nice if there were more colors. Best part of the 1620 pants is that I can get a 33inch inseam rather than opting for the slightly too short 32inch which for me is a problem for squatting or bending, or too baggy 34inch which for me is a problem when not bending or squatting.

At first I thought these pants were only made for men with a big build and beard. I am neither, 5’6″ and 135# and couldn’t grow a beard if I didn’t shave for a year but I have raced Erzberg, bagged some big game and done things to vehicles that most people wouldn’t dream of.

I am a go-get-ter, maybe not quite enough to call myself a weekend “warrior” but I do work hard and get some stuff done from time to time. I used to buy $50 worth of used jeans to tear up but they only lasted about 3 months.

This year I decided it was time to pull the trigger on something a little better, not just in hopes of them lasting longer but looking better and performing better. I got these pants specifically because I froze my jeans solid last few years of hunting.

Honestly not as much fun hunting elk and deer when you can barely bend you knees. This year our base camp was a 5 mile hike from the road and the forecast was decently chilly, highs in the 40’s lows in the teens.

I wore these on almost everyday and honestly was a bit hot if I was moving a load a meat. Actually hot enough I had to open the zipper on most of the hikes out with my elk. In the end I hiked about 40 miles with 30-100 lbs of meat on my back in these pants and am very happy with how well they did.

I also spent a day sitting on the ground watching a field before shooting my elk and I was generally pretty warm. I have also hand chopped 7 cords of wood this year and most was wearing these, no issues.

Ordered one pair to add to my healthy supply of 1620 gear. I have looked for the perfect winter work gear for over 20 years, living in Lake Tahoe we have a beautiful warm summers and bitter cold mornings and pounding snow in winter.

I pour concrete do arbor work and play with my two young kids year around. These pants have not come off since I bought them and bought another pair after the first day I wore them. Now first off the price, not exactly cheap but worth every penny just like all my 1620s.

The build quality is excellent, you can tell there is a lot of thought put into these. Material is super fast drying I often hose of spattered concrete in 20 degree temperatures only to have dry pants a few minutes later.

Finally have a cold weather system i can trust. Fit is excellent for great movement without sacrificing warmth. Saying good bye to my bulky Carhart insulated bibs forever. Overall i dont think there is a better cold weather work pant out there.

If you are on the fence about buying these dont wait any longer pull the trigger make the investment you will not be disappointed. Thank you 1620 keep bringing the goods !.

Beautiful and chic coat. Great weight and length for the not so cold days. Purchased in black and the lining is a gorgeous contrast in wine. Great fit for layering. Just received so haven’t worn yet…can’t wait! Want to purchase camel, too!.

Material is a good weight,but a bit scratchy. The sleeves are weird,you would need a long sleeved top to wear w/ this coat. This design would b great for a spring coat,or any lighter material. Runs big,size down.

I loved the style of this jacket but expected it to be a traditional wool knit blend and was very surprised when it arrived in a boucle fabric! I really don’t like boucle and find it very cheap looking and know that it doesn’t wear well.

The jacket is also extremely oversized I order Ed a large and think that a medium might possibly be even large!!.

I love the style of this jacket, and I am so happy I was able to grab one on sale. I ordered one size up for a bigger/more oversized look, however I would say the jacket fits true to size for the most part.

Jacket feels warm and is super comfortable. Would order again in another colour!.

Jacket purchased for my son – fits true to size and he wears during the colder days to keep him warm. Chest pocket fits mobile phone. Overall good versatile jacket for the cooler days.

Really high quality piece. Fits very small though. For regular fit go one full size up. For a tad bit of an oversize fit go 2 sizes up.

This jacket is completely unlined under the zip out fleece liner. As the underside of the material on the sapphire jacket is white, it was particularly visible. The jacket itself runs large, including the hood which falls down over your face if used.

Also, the material on the collar is simply folder over material; the material was not even brought down to the neck seam. The material is also stiff and the care label on the jacket reads, “do not iron”.

It may soften with repeated washings which I did not do as I returned it. As I wear a small, there was no smaller size to exchange it for, and I have never seen a jacket with a zip out liner which was unlined.

All seasons’ coat but zipper was defective; only went down quarter of way, teeth of zipper at this point defective; zipper would not zip to end. Did not get chance to try on; will hold opinion until I receive my exchange.

Sent back for exchange. A jacket I bought years ago is just GREAT, still wearing it but not made for winter. Great jacket. Went through many years and wear and still holds is own like the day I started to wear it.

I figured their winter coats to be the same will tell once I receive my exchange.

Although this jacket runs a bit large, I really like the quality of the materials. The outer shell is a great wind breaking material and the inner zip out polar fleece is nice and warm and perfect for windy blustery days.

It is slightly longer than my other jackets which is good. The sapphire color is really attractive too. The wrists are elastic and further adjustable with two snap positions to choose.

My husband was delighted with my gift to him at first because it was warm and cosy , however, once he got to work chopping logs and hedging , he complained that he was dripping with sweat inside the coverall and it obviously was so waterproof that it didn’t allow his skin to breathe.

I know it is supposed to be waterproof, but these days many waterproof items still have breathable fabrics for this very reason. He won’t wear it any more and it was not cheap, like most of the overalls he usually buys, so I can’t recommend it to others.

I was very pleased when I opened the package and found a good quality material and it even fitted my tall frame. I have been wearing an old Norwegian padded overalls for years but they are due for the bin now and replacing them I thought would be difficult to find at a reasonable cost.

To my surprise I found it in these overalls, I am sure they will last and do the job I wanted.

Excellent and seemingly well made coverall . Very warm and so far tough and durable. The zip also seems tough which is generally where all my coverall’s fail.

I’ve worn these during a ground infiltration sampling event and during another sampling event where there was 4 inches of water in a day. They hold up well and dry quickly. My only critique is that they don’t come in smaller sizes.

I had to buy a size up and wear a belt, but they still slip down.

I was super excited to receive these pants in the mail. Unfortunately, when they came they were too small, and I had to return them. I liked the color, and the sturdiness of the material. They felt like they would’ve been warm in the cold northern NY winters.

Great jacket. I’m a truck driver and very comfortable while driving. Warm in the coldest of New England winters. Hood is great for outdoors. Only problem is sleeves wear just behind the knit cuffs, probably from resting my arms on shifter or door sill.

Still got 2 1/2 years out of first one and just bought another.

Good quality, practical work trousers. Perfect for warehouse use.
