20 Best Wireless Carplay Dongle (2022 Updated)

Display is visible a lot better in daylight then I expected and looks great at night. Having a push button instead of a dial for volume control is hard to get used to and easy to make an error when using it.

Learning how to operate all the features takes time and I would not consider it to be user friendly. Learning how to use all the equalizer settings takes a while to get on to. A hard copy easy to read manual would definitely be a plus.

Trying to read a manual on the Internet is not easy. Touch screen controls are very sensitive and makes it easy to make a mistake. Learning how to view all of the tracks in a playlist was not easy and I still have trouble figuring that out.

All in all it’s a really neat unit but could be designed to be more user friendly; especially when one is a new user.

A nice upgrade for my wife’s 2011 Focus. It has many great features. Touch screen, Apple car play so that connects to my wife’s phone and lets her use voice command to make driving safer. I also added a back up camera that just plugs into this stereo.

Hands-down one of the best pieces of equipment I have invested in for my 2006 Toyota Corolla. My Corolla originally came with a six CD changer and no AUX or Bluetooth. With this machine I have Bluetooth, CD player, DVD player and CarPlay! We travel to New Jersey all the time being able to have a up-to-date monitor with CarPlay GPS and satellite radio through my phone makes the trip a wiz!!!Thanks for providing great entertainment for my road travels.

One of the best purchases I ever made. The unit costs less than $20, yet is stylish and of good quality. Plugs into either a vehicle’s accessory power ports (the ports that looks like it can accommodate a cigarette lighter) or directly to the auxillary power if you have that capability.

The Nulaxy KM18 was easy to install and learn how to use, and gives me the following functionality that I never had in my car: 1) Bluetooth – easily pair any Bluetooth device to play audio through your vehicle’s stereo system 2) Volume Boost – my vehicle’s radio was never loud enough for me, KM Bluetooth transmitter boosts the signal and I now have all the volume I want 3) Hands Free Phone Calls – Calls automatically interrupt audio giving a chance to answer or decline.

Can handle both incoming and outgoing call conversations on a hands free basis The KM18 obviously can play tracks or playlists of any tracks stored on the hard drive of the phone. But, I have been amazed about how often I can snag a wi-fi signal in the car, enabling me to stream audio services such as Spotify.

Possibly the most value I ever got for a purchase that costs less than $20.

Great sound, no noise whatsoever, easy to use, Bluetooth works well. Issues: cannot go to next folder. You just need to next next next many mp3’s to the next folder. Turning on bluetooth, my phone connects to it and I can talk on whatsapp, but when google maps gives me instructions, I don’t hear anything.

If you turn your car off in middle of an mp3 playing, then turn it back on, it will start the mp3 from beginning. This can become annoying if you are listening to a long mp3. Cannot fast forward an mp3.

Only next-previous. Can pause it though. NO USB !!! Only Bluetooth BT, Auxiliary AUX and Micro memory. Charger is good. Though 2 holes would have been better.

Less than $20. 00 and sounds like a factory installed bluetooth unit in my 2004 Lexus. I’ve been using the AUX cord up until now and wanted something to go wireless but still have the same good CD quality audio.

After trying at least 4 other transmitters, i decided to give this last one a shot and man I am so glad I bought it! It sounds just as good as the AUX plug. Crisp, clear audio with no distortion or static.

Pairs in under 5 seconds with my LG phone and never loses connection. Has a USB, SD Card and AUX outlet too. This is great! Saved me from spending hundreds to upgrade my factory stereo to be fitted with Bluetooth.

Out of the box my CPlay2Air worked as advertised. I’ve been using it everyday since. My phone auto connects without issue every time. The unit definitely does the job but I have noticed a couple of irregularities.

1. ) I’ve experienced dropped connectivity and apple car play restart on a couple of occasions. 2. ) I didn’t experience these type of issues when attached directly to my vehicle via a USB cable from my phone.

3. ) I’ve noticed a little lag. This was noticeable primarily when using Waze. I have not tried other apps such as Apple or Google maps so I don’t know if the issues is specific to Waze (which I know is a Google platform).

4. ) Music streaming primarily from Apple Music. I didn’t notice an irregularities except for those noted above. 5. ) Shipping took longer than expected/promised. Tracking via third party shipper was a little hard to follow.

The shipping platform continues to told me the product is still in transit even after I found it in my mailbox. FYI I connect via my Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max running the latest Apple iOS. My CarPlay config is unchanged since switching to wireless connectivity via CPlay2Air.

I drive a 2019 Chevy Silverado LTZ. All of the truck software is up to date. All things considered, I will continue to use CPlay2Air. The benefits have far outweighed the few issues I’ve experienced.

I would recommend this platform for anyone looking to cut the cable.

I love this thing! I had suffered intermittent disconnects with my cable and iPhone X ever since I bought my used 2019 Honda CR-V. I tried changing the cable several times to no avail and was even set to take my car into the shop to have the radio removed and checked! Then I found the CARPLAT2air online and ordered one.

It works perfectly! It takes about 30 seconds to boot up when I start the car, but finds my iPhone in my pocket and starts the music and navigation software by the time I back out of the garage. Now I never have disconnects at all! And it was easy to instal.

I love it! I’ve had it about a month now and can’t believe what frustration I used to live with before I found this device. Turns out my iPhone has a semi-bad lightning port. Oh well: my problem is solved and I’m enjoying the added convenience of not having to plug into my car anymore.

This thing totally does what it says it will do! It’s totally worth the money and the 5-star review I’m giving it.

I recently bought the CPlay2Air and it is really a great device, especially for short drives, where you need to get in and out of your car several times. In case of long drives, I’d still prefer to use the cable connection.

The installation is as simple as “plug & play”. No need to download or install anything else in advance. Some times (rare, let’s say 1 in 10 times) I’m facing some connection issues. In this case, I need to plug out and re-plug in the the device, then it is solved.

There is also a little bit of lag on the Apple CarPlay actions but it does not really influence the use of your multimedia screen. Would I recommend it? Yes, for sure. 🙂 By the way, big thanks to the sales and after sales team (especially to Michelle).

I have a 2016 VW Golf SportWagen where the USB port is tucked inside a flip-up drawer in the center console. Each time I’d want to use Android Auto I’d have to open the door, unfurl the USB cable, plug it in to the phone, then go to the dash and click on Android Auto.

It wasn’t the WORST thing in the world, but why spend 30 extra seconds sitting still while setting up Android Auto if I’m just making a 3 mile drive to Target? Also, those cables dangling out of the console looked sort of unsightly.

As a result I mainly used Android Auto for long drives and or drives to places I’d never been before. I’ve been longing for wireless Android Auto for years, and when I saw Motorola had made this device available I jumped at the chance to get it.

Actually I jumped a couple dozen times, as it was always out of stock within seconds of being available. But after 3 weeks of trying I finally got one! Woo! Setup was NOT easy. Some (most?) people will be able to pair their phone to the MA1 device and have things start working straight away.

Not for me. It took over an hour to set it up, including reading sub-Reddits for help, cache clearing, several reboots of the phone, even more resets of the dongle and then 5 attempts for my Golf to connect the dongle via Android Auto before it finally brought up the set up screen.

But now that it’s connected it works just great. I no longer need to exert any extra effort to use Android Auto and will use it on any drive around town, even a 5 minute drive to the grocery store. If you get this device and it doesn’t seem to connect, the best advice I could give is to keep trying.

My settings were all correct from the start, but I kept getting a green blinking light on the dongle and nothing showing up in the device list of my car’s head unit. Ultimately what got mine connected was repeatedly doing a hard-reset of the dongle (holding down the lone button on the device until it started blinking red).

I think it took me five or six times of doing a hard reset before I saw it listed in the device list, and five times of attempting to add it before it finally gave me the ‘Set up your new Android Auto device’ prompt.

Waited a long time for this. Had an Amazon pending order for 2 weeks prior and waited for them to ship. Cancelled that order when BB emailed me that they had it in stock. BB even had it available for p/up ahead of the estimated time.

Kudos to them. Installation was a hit or miss experience but I finally got this installed. And yes, I did have a phone running Android 11 and a factory head unit with Android Auto. Turns out you need Bluetooth and local wireless running and have to follow a sequence where the phone has to be initially connected by USB.

I had to adjust the settings on both my phone and head unit. Dont really know why the implementation protocols were so onerous. YMMV Once running I experienced a spontaneous hangup with a phone reset on the first day of use.

Since that time the connection time from starting the car to the icon appearing on the touch screen is about half a minute. Mostly use this to access music files on my phone but like that I won’t have to connect the USB cable for navigation.

The phone seems to use drain its battery a little more but I think it’s worth the tradeoff. I think it’s sad that a lot of us weren’t able to easily buy one of these at retail due the obnoxious practices of some resellers.

I’ve tried to buy this adapter for months but it has always been out of stock. I got a recent alert and rushed to buy it. This is such a great tool. It works great with my Hyundai’s Android Auto system.

I notice no delayed response or degradation of audio quality. This device doesn’t require a special app. It connects to your Android phone using Bluetooth and then it creates its own wireless access point and automatically connects your phone to it.

There are only three flaws. 1) the device can take upwards of a minute to connect to with your phone and for the car to recognize it. This may be dependent upon a lot of factors such as your phone model, Android version, car type etc.

2) Without your phone connected using a cable, your battery discharges during use. 3) Depending on your vehicle, your USB port may remain powered after your car is turned off. This device blinks continually when no phone is connected so this could cause your car battery to drain.

I just unplug it. If you can snag one, it works great, highly recommend.

Installed in a 2003 330i sedan, wired into the factory AUX jack. I decided to get it after seeing a similar write-up. I used an RCA to 3. 5mm adapter to plug it into the factory aux port, and placed it on switched power with an Add-A-Fuse kit.

This way, the modification it was completely reversible back to the factory 3. 5mm port. It was really great, because now I only have one power plug on my dash, and it feels really nice to be able to stream music without fiddling with a hundred different cords and getting tangled, every time I get into the car.

Mine had no interference or engine noise, so I did not need a ground loop isolator. My particular dongle doesn’t stream phone call audio through the stereo, but I have read about a few people who have gotten ones that do.

A year later, I haven’t had any problems with my setup or the dongle itself. The only quirk is, that if I power cycle the car rapidly, like to move it a little bit, and turn it back off, the dongle will get confused and not connect.

The solution is to leave it off for a minute or so, before turning it back on. In my particular install, the speakers would make a loud popping sound when the dongle was turned off. This is because the BMW radio was staying on just a longer than the dongle’s power source.

I wired in a diode and capacitor in-line with the power wire, and that fixed the issue. You likely will not encounter this, unless you have the same setup as I do, but I thought it was worth a mention.

Update. I wasn’t sure if the jukebox sounded like crap because of the dongle. I ended up tearing down the entire jukebox and upgraded everything, including the lights. It turns out the bad sound was from the 80’s amplifier, not the crappy speaker.

The dongle works great and now I have a portable Bluetooth jukebox. I have a Classic CR-11 tabletop Jukebox that comes with AM/FM radio and cassette player. The sound on this machine sounds like crap, but it’s a vintage jukebox, that works and looks great.

Who has cassettes nowadays? I used this Bluetooth dongle to convert the cassette player to Bluetooth. I’ll admit, the jukebox still sounds like crap but hey, it’s Bluetooth crap.

This item was just was I was looking for. I used it to add Bluetooth A2DP capability to my Harley-Davidson dresser. I wanted something I could wire into the radio head unit and would pair automatically with my phone so I could hide it somewhere in the faring.

This works perfectly for that. It pairs with my phone as soon as I turn the ignition on (it’s impressively quick). All I have to do is hit “play” on the phone (tell Google maps where I want to go, if needed) and ride.

Sound quality is excellent (yes, even in the garage with the engine off). FWIW, I appear to have received the newer, better looking, version of this product. Note that this does NOT do phone call audio, only media audio.

I already have one of these so I knew what to expect before buying. The price is a little high for them right know because of supply and demand and a chip shortage. The radio meets and exceeds my expectations right out of the box.

I love it and would recommend to others to purchase it.

Great sound (and I’m stuck with cheap speakers) and tons of options to make it sound how you like it. A few little quirks but it’s still early in the game for me as I’ve only had it a week and not a lot of time to play with it.

The EQ is fantastic and if you are a tech geek with sound, the crossover settings will keep you busy-WAY over my pay grade! Love the unit!.

I replaced my Jeeps 2010 OEM radio with this unit and its just amazing. Fitment was excellent. Its display is fantastic and easy to use. Sound quality was vastly improved over the OEM.

It works just fine in my 2017 Chevy volt with Chevy MyLink Android Auto. It takes less than 30 seconds to connect when first getting into the car. There was absolutely no difference in the user experience on my touch screen and I experienced zero lag or any type of noticeable difference in the display quality.

However this could be different depending on the enhanced capabilities of your Android auto enabled head unit and/or the quality of your screen. The only negative I had in terms of its functionality is that if you share a car with somebody.

You will have to essentially re-establish your Bluetooth connection with the Motorola adapter after someone else has connected to the head unit after you, It doesn’t matter if they use the Android auto to connect or just the regular head unit via Bluetooth.

Again this could be a limitation on my particular head unit for my car, and not something I would consider a nuisance. I do feel that Motorola could at some point offer this in greater quantities and at a cheaper price.

The price point is a little high.

Purchased this on sale and am pretty happy with the value for money. Get in quick while its on sale. They sell out in store really quick. You might need to get it delivered! Mine came from Tasmania when there was no stock in SA! Upgraded from a 2DIN Sony as my Bluetooth was playing up and all the plugs were the same so it was a straight forward swap.

Had to get a shop to check my aftermarket amp gains ect to be safe. Audio quality is ok. I’m not really happy with it compared to my old one. I have most of the audio/bass boost settings off as that’s recommended for aftermarket amps.

Had to adjust EQ but its still not how I want it. The reversing camera grid lines is ok. i cant get the top of the grid lines to adjust. As far as I am aware the 5000 model has a better touch screen, better glare resistance and a extra USB port.

Unofficially I have heard it might have a better in-built amp but I dunno. I did not want to pay the extra for those features as I Overall I am happy with the upgrade to Android Auto and value for money with this unit.

Just get in quick when these are on sale!.

Pro’sExcellent Sound Quality and I luv the the Deep Bass Sound and it quickly responses when we connect the Android Auto. It synchronised very quickly. Con’sWe cannot connect more Android Smart Phones at a time in Bluetooth Pairing Option.

Driver’s Rear View Monitor Option is not there. If we pick up the camera option while the vehicle is moving forward, an error message will appear. Video signals are not available. We have not tried the Apple Car Play in this device.

Because, we have no any Apple Devices in our hand. YouTube is not available when we connect the Android AutoWe can hear the sound from the YouTube Video if we connect the Android Phones through the Bluetooth (Video works fine inside the Phone and Sound will come through the AX3000)FIX THESE ABOVE ISSUES IN THE NEXT FIRMWARE UPDATE.

I have a 2012 Subaru Forester and have been looking for a head unit upgrade for a while. Finally decided to get it during boxing week (great deal when it is on sale) and have it installed professionally.

I have also upgraded firmware to version 1. 25. Here is my initial impression (week 1): – design is simple and sleek, it blends in well to the dashboard and interior – unit loads up fast upon ignition and all functions are working as expected – able to retain steering wheel control in most part with harness (not the Bluetooth buttons though but that’s fine with me) – CarPlay is quick and working well so far – the amp is great, sound quality improves quite a bit compared the OEM unit (even without switching to other EQ settings) I would recommend this unit, especially when it is on sale.

The product itself has been working very well. The parking brake sequence to get into the settings mode is a bit tedious, but I don’t go into that mode very often. I have occasional issues where my phone won’t connect to the Bluetooth, but I have a feeling that is the phone and not this unit.

I pretty much exclusively use Bluetooth and Android Auto. I wish the clock on the radio would sync with the time on my phone when it is hooked up. Android Auto is quite handy and I don’t want another vehicle without it.

The one downside is that it changed the chime in my truck, that apparently goes through the radio. It’s slightly more obnoxious that the OEM tone, but nothing that I haven’t gotten used to. Sound quality is as good as the OEM unit, maybe a touch better.

But it’s all still OEM speakers so there’s probably room for improvement. I paid $300 for this unit. Apparently the cost has gone up to $550. At that price, I wouldn’t have bought it. There are plenty of options closer to the $300 price point that would be adequate.

Bought this back when it was cheaper, and this was a banger of a deal. If you want great, clean audio output with a fine adjustability with no extra hoo-hah, this is the one. I have bought two of these for personal use and unless they come out with a newer model, will keep buying these.

I grew up back in the day where you had to spend over a grand to get this quality. Little to no unwanted noise on max volume. Very responsive touch interface. Quick connection every time. And a detailed EQ.

Installed on a 2007 4Runner and 2014 Rogue. Buy this.

Excellent head unit. Replaced stock unit in a 2011 civic. Perfect fit with the new double din dash plate (bought separately). Apple car play is awesome. completely syncs just about everything with an Iphone.

Have not tried android but assume it’s the same. I have this powering a 2200w complete system. Once in a blue moon, it does clip, I think it’s from heat because I have the alpine KTP-445U mounted behind it but it rarely happens, only when I’m really pushing it for long extended periods.

There’s a TON of x-over/eq settings, but you don’t get to access them unless car is in park and e-brake is on. But there’s a TON. (I use none of them, all filtering is done at the amp level). I do hate that you can’t customize the wallpaper.

I think that would have been a great feature to add. Also, would have been great if it streamed youtube videos. I get it. it’s a safety feature. but even in park with e-brake on. you cannot stream video to it.

BUT. you can put video onto a USB stick and with the car in park and ebrake on, you can view videos on said USB stick. Other than that. nice crisp, clear head unit. exactly what you’d expect from Alpine.

I got fed up with my internet and phone provider at my apt. complex in Tucson, especially since I’m only in town for 1-2 weeks every 2 months. Bought a mobile base from my cellular provider and researched wifi adapters for the non wifi capable office desktop.

Major office supply stores wanted $35-40 for a usb plug in, they said adapters with a cord were no longer available. From research I did on line, metal disrupts a wifi signal (don’t know if that is true or not).

I found this one for $7. 99, free shipping and a cord. When it arrived, plugged it in, ran it on top of the desk, pointed it towards my onsite managers apt, put in his lock code for his wifi. Works great!!! No more gouging from my old internet/phone provider.

This is a great tool. I can now put my desktop where ever I want. Before I had to put it where wire allowed me to put it. The install was very easy, The instructions were very easy to follow. It only took a few minutes to get it working.

I am very happy with this product. I recommend it to any one that wants to use a desktop computer and have it where ever you want and not be limited by your router wire. Oh, it also works wonderfully well on laptops that have an issue with the built in wifi card.

I have used it in both ways and am very happy with the results. I do love not having to worry about those router wires and all that. There are enough wires in our lifes one less is always welcome.

I have been using these adaptors for a number of years without issue. The adaptor is easy to install and configure. Finding a signal is very easy, with or without the extension. I have several in use right now without interferrance or speed issues.

With the extension, I can place adaptors virtually anywhere. Some of mine are used and of unknown age. Yet I never needed to replace one. When I take one out of use, I place it in a ziplock bag and toss it my junk drawer.

So they don’t enjoy a cushie retirement either.

I upgraded from the factory radio and it’s definitely worth it. I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. I was starting to have issues with the factory radio (CDs not ejecting, AUX connection short) and I wanted Apple Carplay as well as handsfree for my phone.

I love being able to stream Spotify & iTunes. The ability to listen to a larger library of music and podcasts for those long drives is huge for me. The Bluetooth connection works great for those things as well as receiving calls.

Those that have called me have said that the audio quality is good although they could tell I was in my Jeep. The calls came through pretty good. Most of those calls have been in the city at lower speeds.

I think on the highway with a softop Jeep, it’s going to be noisy and more difficult to hear unless you turn up the volume. Connecting the phone to the USB is great for charging but also accessing the full Apple Carplay features including Google Maps & Waze.

I purchased a USB connection port to replace the cigarette lighter and installed it myself. This way I don’t have a USB cable dangling from the dash. The USB connection looks like it came that way from the factory.

Audio quality does seem better/clearer than the factory radio. I got Best Buy to do the install. They were great and the install looks great. Volume is controlled by two buttons on the top left and I’ve read some people would prefer a knob.

The buttons look cleaner but I have had to adjust to no knob after decades of having a volume knob. The only drawback is the reflection on the screen. Depending on how the sun hits it, there’s glare.

Also, some sunglasses may make the screen more difficult to see. I think that has to do with the polarization on the sunglasses. Not a big deal.

This is a no brainer if you want a good head unit to upgrade your car radio at a good price. Car Play and Android Auto are very responsive and very well integrated into the operating system, are not wireless but I find it very convenient because does not drains my phone’s battery while in the car.

The audio quality is very good out of the box and it also provides extra customizations so you can tweak the sound to your liking. This a review after some time using it , I have nothing to complain about it so far.

not even a glitch. It does what is intended to do and it does it great.

Do not buy this, there are software issues with it and JVC has no software updates available and expects me to pay to take it of my car and ship it to them so they can look at it. Best Buy refuses to help because I’m 2 months outside of the 1-year warranty even though I did bring it in with the warranty a few months ago and they said it was fixed and sent me on my way.

Now they are saying I’m outside the warranty and refuse to do anything. I’m out $500 with a non-functioning radio after less than a year and a half. It disconnects my iPhone randomly and won’t reconnect.

Do not buy this product.

I installed this stereo in my 1995 MR2 to add a bit of modernity and functionality, but there are some annoying issues with this unit I can’t get over. I’m surprised this has been revered so much by the other reviewers.

The good: Carplay on a budget. Has pre-outs for active speakers, and a microphone. It also uses your car’s illumination wire to dim the display when you turn your lights on. Sound quality is decent but this is more down to the amplifier if you’re using active audio, like I am.

I can’t speak for passive audio (driven by the stereo itself). The bad: you already know that it’s only wired, and only Apple carplay. I suppose that can be expected at this price point. The touch-screen is also fairly cheap-feeling and plasticky.

The main issues I have with this unit are technical. The first being, the power aerial signal is always active when the unit is on, not just when using the radio function. If your car has a retractable antenna, this means that the antenna will always be extended when the stereo is on.

Since I don’t use the radio much, I’ve just resorted to unplugging the power antenna. Worse still, this head unit has only volatile memory, no storage. Meaning, if it loses power, for instance being disconnected from the battery, all its settings are reset and it goes back into demo mode.

This wouldn’t be too much of an issue, but it drains a whopping 170mA when the car is off! Easily enough to drain the battery in a week or two. So, I’ve just wired it to accessory power and leaving it on default settings every time.

There’s also no way to turn the head unit off without turning the car off. Finally, the physical volume knob is great, and why I chose it, but it would have been great to have physical forward and backward buttons too.

Very happy with this simple receiver. For one, it has a volume knob — steering wheel controls do not negate the need for one of these. The screen is responsive and the UI is so simple it can’t be slow.

The internal amplifier seems to clip at 30 out of 50. at least when connected via an adapter module to my Lexus LS430 factory amp. The bluetooth works great. Overall SQ is excellent for a vehicle environment.

Screen is a bit small but this is also not expensive and it’s all you will ever need in your old car. I like that it plays FLAC files and other lossless content, too. It’s one unfortunate fault is that instead of making the receiver’s depth very shallow, it has the same depth as a single-DIN on the top half.

In most cars these days, either a more shallow overall design or the meat of the components being on the bottom would be much better. I had to cut out things to get this to fit. I would have had to cut out the same things for a CD/DVD receiver.

I’d rather a digital media receiver be shallow!.

1. It only does apple car play. You may think “oh well i dont use an android phone” – well later you realize how slow iphones are even in 2021 and decide to switch to android, this thing in your car is useless now so you’re pretty much stuck with iphone 2.

the audio quality is absolute dog crap. My stock speakers are really nice and the dac in the stock unit was WAYYY better. With this unit the audio sounds incredibly compressed and hurts your ears and just awful awful quality.

Unusably bad quality. 3. One of the reasons I got it was because of the volume knob. You may think its a great idea, but then you quickly realize that the way it’s positioned your finger will constantly hit the map button while using carplay.

I hate this thing so much and now its too late to return and even if i was able to return it I would have to pay to get it removed and put my stock unit back in. I really wish I had paid a little bit more and got a better unit.

I will never buy a sony car audio product ever again.

Got this adapter because my old Linksys G card was NOT compatable with my new Netgear N600 (Excellent) and caused my system to loop into a reboot mode over and over. Figured this out on my own as Netgear was no help.

Actually ordered this and a Wintec FileMate PCI Wireless-N Network Adapter PCI card. The Wintec PCI adapter preformed poorly so I tried this one. Now for the Bad and The Good. The Good 1) $18, picked up after a week.

2) Hook up was easy on WinXP, didn’t need the install disk. Win Vista needed the install disk but was easy. 3) Good range, not great but way better than my old Linksys WMP54GV4 G pci card. Compared it on my laptop with built in Wifi and signal was the same.

Not bad for its size and add on USB. 4) Data transfer speed, I got between 4 and 7 mps speeds, should be and I expected much better and way much faster as it is a “N” card capable of 150 mps. Then I plugged it into the rear USB ports on my desktop which are motherboard mounted USB’s and got 12/15 MBs download and 4MBs upload consistantly.

The Bad Nothing really but while the adapter is a “N” adapter, Wifi is 2. 4 Ghtz so DON’T expect the range to be much better than your old G card. I suspect speed will be better as well if it was a 5 Ghtz adapter.

While “N” band is advertised as higher speed and more range it ONLY gives you more range and better speeds when 5 Ghtz is incorporated in the adapter and used with a router with a 5ghtz set up. This wifi adapter IS a “N” adapter but not a 5ghtz but a 2.

4 ghtz so range is not there but still very good at 4 out of 5 bars in a 2 story house at opposite ends. It will NOT see or connect to a 5ghtz router unless its a dual band router (2. 4 and 5 ghtz ) and then only see and connect to the 2.

4 signal. The stats, Desktop running WinXP, I used a new Netgear N600 Dual Band (2. 4 and 5 Ghtz) BGN router (excellent) 4 feet away. I tested speeds with 2 different sites (speedtest and speakeasy) with the ability to test locally in my city.

It tested at 12 Mbs download and 4 Mbs upload on my Desktop and 15 / 16 Mbs on mt laptop dopwnstairs. Just F. Y. I, my router was set up properly to handle 300mps speeds, my cable company speed is +16 mps cable modem with boost (20 Mbs).

My 1 year old HP laptop running Vista has built in wifi B and G card signal but no N on 2. 4Ghtz. Its connected at my 2. 4 Ghtz network and tests at 18 to 20 Mbs consistantly with 4 out of 5 bars on its built in card and 14MBs to 16 MBs using this USB Adapter.

“G” network is supposed to be capable up to 54 Mps speeds. “N’ supposed to be up to 300Mps. Upload speeds were consistant at 3 to 4 MBs (that is my max from my ISP). Would I recommend? Yes, If it was a 5Ghtz adapter with this size it would be nothing less than awesome.

I purchased two. One for my brother, the other for myself. My brother already has wi-fi installed in his computer. Mine takes a card. My brother has not gotten his to work at all. Mine works and sometimes takes over when the wi’fi card signal is not strong enough.

At other times, it conflicts with the card’s signal and it takes much longer to get a page to load. Sometimes neither the usb adapter nor the wi-fi card can connect to the net. But hey- that’s the downside to not paying for internet, right? All in all , i am happy with it.

sometimes it seems to push the card’s signal through, even though it isn’t able to make a connection. I purchased it to enhance signal strength, which for the most part, it seems to do. I would only recommend it to those who have no other option.

If you want a steady, strong connection, go with a provider. If you aren’t in a hurry to get online and just need a little more push, this does the trick.

I originally bought this because I read a product manual for the WLI-UC-GNM that claimed it was able to be used in a similar fashion to Buffalo’s Nintendo Wi-Fi dongle where it would act as an access point for wireless devices that support AOSS like a Nintendo DS and Sony PSP.

As it turns out, the manual I was reading was for the Asia-Pacific region. According to that manual, the Buffalo software has a feature for this specifically that is very easy and painless to do. In North America however, somehow this feature is illegal or infringing on some lame copyright in some manner and taken out.

Just like how the Nintendo Wi-Fi dongle was yanked off store shelves for a similarly lame reason. really upsetting because this would have been a simple, painless, and cost effective method of connecting my PSP to the internet without haivng to reconfigure my entire network at least I can use it to connect a super old computer to the internet now lol.

For the first few days it worked perfectly well. After that it started having problems. Half the time I turn my computer on it connects with no problems. I’m able to use the internet normally. The other half the time it has all kinds of problems.

Either it randomly drops connection in the middle of a download or video, or it doesn’t connect at startup and I have to chase down my wifi settings to convince it to recognize my internet. Sometimes the only solution is to uninstall the driver and reinstall it from scratch.

Even that doesn’t always work. It’s a constant pain and I’ll be replacing it soon.

November 2018: Received the item fairly quickly and install was easy. You probably don’t need to use the driver CD that comes with it, I didn’t. I’m on Windows 10 and it should auto-detect and work when you plug it in.

I did go ahead and download the latest drivers AFTER I plugged it in, but it might not have been necessary. Regardless, it’s working very well. July 2020 Update: So after owning this adapter for 20 months, I changed my rating from 5 stars to 2.

Reason being that it worked pretty great for awhile for me, when the router was a mere 10 feet away with nothing blocking the signal. However even under those circumstances, the connection would randomly fail even shortly after I purchased it.

For a long time I just endured it because I thought it was my router failing (Router was 7 years old at that point). It didn’t do it all that often either, maybe once or twice a week. But on days that it did it, it’d sometimes drop connection and refuse to reconnect until I disabled the adapter completely in network settings, restarted the modem, the router, and sometimes even the computer itself.

It was a major pain when it’d do this because it felt like there was no sure way to get it to reconnect, it was simply whenever it stopped being neurotic. After moving in to my new home last month, the problems got worse, even with 3 routers I’ve cycled through (the old one, a Netgear Orbi system, and now a Netgear Nighthawk X6S).

At this point, the adapter will show me wireless networks, but it won’t actually connect to them for some reason. No real idea why. I can connect using the same password on my laptop, and I think I can connect my adapter via WPN Button on the router itself, but it refuses to join via normal means and it will disconnect soon after, as well as provide spotty slower internet than it should.

If you’re only planning on using this for awhile, I’d say go for it. It’s cheap, and it does work. But don’t expect it to last all that long, or to be super reliable. I’m a PC Gamer and it worked well for that for a while as well as streaming videos, but only when it wasn’t disconnecting me.

Honestly, I’d recommend looking at other adapters, but this one is functional. Most of the time.

Product says it can do 802. 11ac but was only able to put out 802. 11n and when I try to connect to the 5G signal the device stops working completely. Doesn’t show up in device manager. Broke within the first week.

Got a replacement – same problem. Reinstalling drivers and settling with n seemed to work. However the device constantly disconnects throughout the day, sometimes just minutes after the last. The only way to reconnect is to remove the device from the computer and plug it back in.

Every. Single. Time. When I am connected the internet is much slower than advertised only reaching 30kbps upload maximum and 20Mbps download. If I wanted to play an online game, I would have to make sure anything else using the internet was closed, otherwise I would suffer intense latency and frequent disconnects.

All other computers etc using this network have no problem, and my PC is only 1 year old so I know this is the WiFi card, not my network or computer. Most of the time the WiFi card was unable to provide any upload capacity at all.

Would not recommend. Buy something else because this does not work.

For early morning trainer rides, I just use my phone and my training app to connect my H2. I saw that I would need this to update firmware and I wanted to be able to use by laptop as well so I went ahead and bought it.

I plugged the USB into my laptop, which required a restart to finalize the installation. Then when I opened up my training app (TrainerRoad for me) it found my H2 perfectly. When I went to start a workout, I got a message that said I had no device transmitting power data, which didn’t make sense because that comes from the H2 itself.

I got worried I didn’t do something correctly, but I just closed my app and opened it up again and all was good.

This wifi dongle borders on useless. I have an LG tv that is about 20 feet from my router but each time I turn on the TV it takes minutes before it connects to the wifi signal either 2. 4GHz or 5GHz.

Most times I have to go to the setup and force it to connect. Sometimes it takes 4 or 5 tries before it makes the connection. We have many devices in this home and none of them have issues connecting.

Once the dongle connects, it works great. I think it’s only dropped connections once or twice in the past year. Getting it to connect is the issue.

I bought the AN-WF500 Bluetooth Dongle thinking I could use it with BT headphones to watch TV at night. Found out it doesn’t work with Bluetooth headphones, only LG Sound Sync audio devices. I thought OK LG, you hooked me, I’ll spring for a pair of LG Sound Sync headphones, but then I find LG doesn’t make any.

Finally, there’s no headphone jack on my LG 39LB5800. I have several older flat screen tv’s around the house and all of them have a headphone jack. Very disappointed LG!.

Pros: Easy to connect Cons: keep disconnecting and reconnecting at random times so not a product id recommend. I have bought an optical cable now so i wont be using the useless device now. Prob sell it asap on the cheap as it was completely useless.

Dont waste your money buy an optical cable at a fraction of the cost.

This is not as small as the smallest nano-USB adapters, but still quite small and it supports modern WiFi standards. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that my Windows 10 PC recognised and enabled it in about 2 seconds flat! It just works.

What else could one wish for?.

After installing the supplied driver, plugged in the usb device and started working straight away in an older Windows XP 32 bit machine. No problems since then. Works just as well with Windows 7, 8. 1 and 10.

Fits the bill.

Unboxed it, plugged it in and it worked perfectly. No setup required, no complications. My old laptop can now access the fast network. Very happy.
