20 Best Wireless Ceiling Light (2022 Updated)

Just like that, this product made my life a whole lot easier and removed a nuisance! I am the last to arrive home from work and by the time I get home, it is dark outside. Sadly, my loving family never remembers to leave the outside light on for me.

It drives me crazy because I am always fumbling around trying to find my housekey and when I do find my housekey I have to fumble around several minutes more to find the slot to unlock the door. Going through this 5 days a week is so annoying and even more annoying when my hands are full.

This Brilliant Evolution Wireless Motion Sensor LED Ceiling Light has come to my rescue and I am forever thankful for it. With the enclosed mounting bracket, I installed this easily on the ceiling of our wrap around porch near the door.

Now, when I come home it doesn’t matter that my family forgot to turn the light on because when I walk up towards the door, this beauty shines brightly for me to see by easily detecting my motion. There’s an option for this light to automatically turn on when it gets dark, but since I don’t need that, I opted to easily switch that function off so that this comes on when it detects motion only.

It’s perfect. It takes 3 C batteries but I always keep a supply of all sizes on hand. I love that it is run by battery because there is no eyesore ugly wiring to be seen, no electrician to consult and install, you can just purchase this and have it up and running in minutes.

I have this on my list to buy more for other areas of my home and this light can be used inside or outside. The sleek, modern design is visually appealing so I don’t mind putting these up all around.

This light has also made our dog very happy. Sometimes we let her take a break outside and when she’s ready to come in, she’ll sit at the door to let us know. Sometimes I think she has sat there longer than she preferred because she gives me “the look” when I let her in.

Now, this light automatically turns on and shines brightly on her when it detects her motion that she’s arrived to be let back in. The light captures my attention to notice she’s ready. Finally, I also love that this is just another layer of added security around the home.

In dark spaces around the home, like the back door to the garage or back deck, I’m going to place this light to automatically turn on with motion to hopefully deter potential intruders.

It has a pleasant modern design and measures about 5. 5” square and approximately 2” deep with rounded edges. It kind of looks like a Nest smoke detector. The light sensor is very sensitive and it only turns on in very dim light or complete dark.

The light itself is fairly bright. When on, you can see a ring of 9 bright LED lights on the inside. It’s enough light for a closet or pantry or hallway. If the light sensor is too much trouble, you can remove it pretty easily.

Then it will work just on motion. The motion senor itself works great and is very sensitive. To access the battery compartment you need to twist the back panel to the open position and pop off the back cover.

The problem is that the back cover is flush with the rest of the back and difficult to grip. That makes removing the cover a bit difficult. It also comes with a mounting bracket for easily installation.

My only criticism (and it’s more personal than anything) is that this light uses 3 C batteries. C!! I don’t own any other devices that run on C batteries and never have C batteries on hand. And 3!! Why not 2 or 4? Batteries always come in even numbers.

I would have preferred 2 D batteries or 6 AA sized batteries.

I have a pantry closet that was always dark and hard to find things in, but installed this light in the pantry and I like having the lighted closet! I love that when I open the door, the motion sensor is activated on the light and comes on now to luminate my pantry.

The motion sensor comes on and then shuts off after 30 seconds of no motion. It was easy to mount to the ceiling with the screws that were included in the kit. It does need three C batteries which weren’t included.

Overall it is nice and bright with the 200 lumens and with the LED light works great to help me find what I am looking for in the closet!.

I ordered these last time you offered them and as usual, Mr Beams comes through again. So happy this company moved to the Q as the quality is tops, lights work every time and battery life is long. My neighbor had a lurker in her porch at night, and living alone, scared her badly.

Hubby installed one of these for her home and it has lasted for a year now and she is secure knowing she has instant light at night to make her feel safe. Living in the country as we do, these are really a life saver and for the price, you get a lot of security and a very bright light.

All of Mr Beams I highly recommend and so glad they came to the Q and bring more of their line monthly. These are not cheaply made lights, but high quality and the company stands behind them. Have used other Mr Beams for over 7 years and they still work, even outdoors in the weather.

Do not understand any bad reviews on these or any of their products. I have been buying Mr. Beams for over 8 years and even their early lights were good bit the quality has only got better over the years.

Happy my go-to store QVC sells them now as they used to be hard to find and so much more expensive. These are the perfect closet lights and even had to use one in our spare refrigerator after the light box stopped working.

what a life saver. Do not be afraid to try and yes, the battery holder is very secure meant to be waterproof but not too hard to insert. I own over 20+ of their lights and living in the dark wooded country could not be without them.

Battery life is tops and last on all for a long time, just purchase quality batteries ( auto ship on Amazon Prime for my batteries) So happy QVC carries these once hard to find lights.

I installed light base in my shower ceiling using silicon sealer and twisted installed light into base. It seems to be holding fine. The light is heavy with the four C-size batteries required. These cost about 6.

50 at Walmart for four batteries. I’m hoping single LED will last reasonable length of time and it should since illumination is LED and batteries are C-sized instead of AA. Motion sensor sensitivity is not adjustable, so keep this in mind when installing – you might not want light to turn on everytime you walk into the area.

Note, if there is some amount of light in the area, the light will not turn on. So, during the day with window blinds open and I walk into my bathroom, the LED light does not turn ON (conserving battery life).

If I want to have light in the shower with daylight, then I just close the blinds. I really don’t think this light is designed for moist environment like a shower, but I’m going to clean battery contacts regularly to limit my problems.

I have installed two of these and would happily buy more. They are quite a bit more than other bargain fans but it is well made, has sleek simple design and has advanced smart controls. I have not experienced any of the pairing issues others talk about – I suspect they are using the separate wall control that with the remote and WiFi features just isn’t necessary.

I had the fan added to my network in no time with the Modern Forms app and then was able to integrate it with my Google Assistant for voice control. The light and fan show up as different devices so you can turn them on and off and dim or control speed separately.

My only complaints are about the install which is relatively simple but could be easier in two ways: 1. There are four substantial screws that secure the fan body to the mounting bracket and the are right up against the ceiling.

I’m sure there are people who didn’t have a long thing screwdriver and found it very hard to tighten them up. If they were even 1/4″ further from the top of the fan it would be a lot easier. 2. You have to connect a lot of wires to the fan controller / remote that is mounted inside of the body of the fan.

Three go the house power – live, neutral, earth – but then there are multiple ones that go from controller to the fan and light, I think these might all be low voltage. They are all pretty thin braided wire connections that you make with wire nuts.

I’ve no idea why the wires for the fan motor and light can’t be put in one connector block that just snaps together – this is how connection for the optional light is done. The would avoid any risk of someone connecting the wrong wires or them coming loose – wire nuts don’t seem optimal for connecting thin braided wire and could easily fall off as you jam them into the fan body or up into the junction box as suggested.

I added electrical tape to mine just got good measure. Other than that if you already have the fan rated ceiling box in place you’re only going to need 30 minutes and a screwdriver to install this. Setting up the WiFi connection after took me about 5 minutes, I didn’t even need the MAC address as suggested in the instructions, the Modern Forms app found the new fan without any issue (make sure you don’t have a VPN running on your phone though, it may block detection of the fan on the network).

I bought 4 of these fans in June 2020, attracted by the clean lines and flush mount. They worked properly for approximately one week. There’s nothing wrong mechanically with the fans. It’s the wall switch and app interface that are the problem.

The wall switches connect to the fans via Bluetooth, but they never stay connected (paired) and are incredibly difficult to repair. Thinking it was the switch, I bought four new ones at my own cost ($50 each), but this did not fix the problem either.

I reached out to Modern Forms customer service, but no one on there end could resolve the problem. The app also only intermittently worked to control one of the four fans. The app itself is plagued with UI and functionality issues: it regularly freezes and crashes.

Needless to say, I’m very disappointed with this product, and after a year and a half of trying to fix it, they can’t be returned. Do not buy this product.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to replace our guest room ceiling fan and now I wish I replaced all of our bedroom fans with this one! The light is brighter than I had expected (so I was also opting to put in some recessed LED’s but we might not need to anymore).

It’s sleek, quiet, looks cool but non-obtrusive. As far as the fan– it’s a perfect size for our guest room, relatively quiet, two thumbs up. Make sure your ceiling is FLAT though because it will be noticeable otherwise based on the long cylinder design.

Oh yeah, the remote control is AMAZING. attaches to the wall hardware magnetically. Super cool. Really, we love it and may be purchasing another soon.

I like the ceiling mounted concept, understated design, reasonable build quality, well made reflector and the nice soft white light with decent brightness and coverage. The sensor is also pretty good at picking movement.

As expected, the light turns on only if there is insufficient light in the room. Turning off is where my issue lies. Once triggered, similar lights will turn OFF if. – motion stops for some time, OR – an external light source comes on.

This unit, however, will NOT turn off if an external light source is made available. It will turn off ONLY when motion is no longer detected. Examples: 1. You’re working in your room and power goes off.

This detects motion and instantly turns on. Power comes back on, but if you’re moving around, this will continue to remain lit 2. You enter a dark room and this lights up making it convenient. You then decide to turn on the main lights, but unless you stand absolutely still for about 30 seconds, this will stay on.

If the above is not an issue, this is a good buy. For me, its a design flaw.

VERY BRIGHT!. The range detecting is great. I put it up myself (65 yr old female) the only thing about install is it was a little difficult twisting the pieces together once the plate was screwed to the wall — but only a little bit.

I will be buying more of these for throughout the house.

It looks good. We’re waiting for it to be installed, yet. I don’t know how well it will work, but I’m excited about the prospect of having music in what will be a wet room with two showers, toilet and urinal.

I like the size and that the color rendition can be changed.

Look great. Sound great. But the Bluetooth is really weak. Product says good up to 30 feet, but it starts cutting out if my phone is more the 10 feet. Very disappointing because I have to leave my phone very close to them which is sometimes just sitting on the floor because the table or countertop is too far away.

Super easy install The speaker quality is ok You cannot take your phone more than 6 ft away or the Bluetooth gets unconnected, kinda frustrating. But have them in an office so it works out well. Good product for the $$.

I purchased another product similar to this one and it went out after a few days. I was really happy to find this Koda light. I’ve had Koda lights in the past and have been generally pleased with them.

The light is nice and bright and I appreciate the fact I can change the color temperature and brightness with remote rather than at the fixture. The only issue I have; and others have mentioned it too; is that the motion detection is extremely sensitive and goes through solid objects.

I have this installed in the pantry and it comes on when I’m a good 10 feet away even though the door is closed and I have it on the closest setting. I wish there was a way to lessen the sensitivity even more Maybe a piece of tape over the sensor would help.

I had no issues installing the light. It was about a 10 minute job. I wish it had a holder for the remote. My other Koda lights came with a remote holder but this one does not. So far everything is working great.

I didn’t have any problems with my other koda lights so I’m confident this one will be problem free as well.

I love these lights. The four I have in my two car garage light it up more than enough to do my wood working projects or work on my car. The motion detection feature makes hauling armloads of laundry into my laundry room much easier.

I replaced the pull chain light I have in my under-stairs storage with one of these using the motion sensor feature which makes it so much easier when crawling in and out of the closet. The light automatically comes on when I open the door and turns itself off one minute after I close it.

My only complaint, (if you can call it one), is I wish KODA had these same features in other lights. I would be tempted to replace all the fixtures in my house with them. Great product. Very well thought out design and features.

I put this light in my pantry. It really brightened things up and I love being able to change the light from a remote. I was hoping with the motion sensing to be able to avoid the light being left on unnecessarily however because our pantry is in our kitchen, many of us pass by the pantry door closed and trigger the light to go on.

This happens on the lowest distance setting which is 3-6 feet and through a door! So on a busy morning, evening, whatever, the pantry light will be perpetually on because the sensor is so powerful it goes through the pantry door such that passing by the closed door turns the pantry light on.

Not really what I was going for. I will end up not using the motion sensor, I think.

Based on the photos we saw online we expected it to be larger. That said, that didn’t bother us as much as the lighting itself. We noticed early on that something seemed off about the light it gave off, and things looked washed out.

Sure enough, upon double checking the CRI it has a rating of only 80, which is quite low. Nothing looks the way it’s supposed to and everything seems washed out and grey-er than normal. Furthermore, the finish of the chrome was not as high quality as we expected.

Would not purchase again.

We got three of these for our guest bedrooms. They look great. I love that you can change the color/brightness of the light. They are also perfect for our low ceilings in the basement bc they don’t hang low.

We haven’t swapped our switches to have dimmers yet, but that will be a nice touch.

Unique, easy to install. Black finish scratches a bit too easily, just put it down on my stool and it got a big scuff on the underside, most visible surface of the fixture. Nice enough, being able to modify colour temp a bonus, decent value for what it is.

I recently remodeled my walk in closet and noticed that the light is not very bright. Personal preference for my closet requires that I am able to see my clothes so I knew that I would have to find a solution.

This light is very bright and motion activated. It has screws and command strips for mounting inside the battery compartment. It does not include batteries for the light so it will require 4C batteries, but it does come with a battery in the remote.

It has a several timers, and the remote can be used a fairly good distance, at 30 yards. This product is easy to use and easy to install. If you are looking for a motion light with a timer and remote this product may be for you.

I needed a light in the back end of my pantry/storage area, and this product, which requires no wiring and can even be installed with sticky strips, seemed to fit the bill. I am pleased with how easily it went up! However, I wish I had paid closer attention to the light rating; it is brighter back there than it was before, but not as bright as I was hoping for.

Also, I am still struggling to figure out how the “motion sensor” function works. This doesn’t matter in my application, since I have to turn the “front” lights on to even get into the room, but it might to other users.

I can’t figure out where the sensor even is. That said, this seems to be a nice product which doesn’t quite fit my needs.

While shopping at big box garden center I came across Bell&Howell Ceiling light. Which I never knew Bell&Howell made. This is a great product!! I put in my gardening shed that does not have electricity installed.

This has change my whole outlook! Amazing what a light can do ! This ceiling light doesn’t need any installation just peel and stick where you want. It is power by 4 C-type batteries. Comes with remote that you program on how long the light stays on.

This light is motion activated! Works great! If you need extra lighting without calling a electrician buy this Ceiling light!.

We have a storage nook under the stairs that doesn’t have a light in it and it gets hard to find things in there. This is perfect for that application or anytime you need more lighting but don’t want to spend the money and mess/hassle on getting an electrician to add wiring or if you rent and that isn’t even an option.

Great budget solution. I only have the one but it does say the switch will operate any of the units within ~50ft range which could be great for bigger lighting needs. Since it’s LED I’m hoping the batteries last quite a while.

This is a great little light for small places! I use it in my closet that was never bright enough to see or find anything. It’s been a life changer. The remote switch is a cool and very convenient feature.

I don’t think it would be bright enough for a whole room though. Requiring 4 D cell batteries is a bit cumbersome. But I understand it’s needed for the light brightness.

The Energizer Batter Operated LED Ceiling Fixture is surprisingly a pretty great product. The fixture does require 4 D batteries, which it does not come with it. The remote did come with batteries. The remote is a nice function because you can mount it or use it as a remote.

Overall, the light fixture works well and hopefully the batteries are long lasting.

I’ve used these lights before, and they are so easy and so logical in design. Yes, they rotate in any direction and can move from flush mount to swing down at 90*. Perfect for angle fitting, gone are heat concerns so that unit is closed.

No air leaks from adjoining areas. Ability to change K range located inside box is a great plus, because the clips make accessing the box no big thing. Here is the down side, and its really annoying: The schematic only shows for the 4″ and is not clear about measurements RO vs flange it would be such a simple fix, so you can know for sure.

Even the really helpful sales associate at WAC had a hard time with this. I have to say, the price is a bit better at source if you are in the trade. I don’t know about longevity, but an awful lot of folks I know, say this is their new go-to.

Can be used damp areas.

The retaining springs are really strong. I recommend putting something on the drywall in the ceiling to keep the clips from digging into the hole opening and possibly damaging the drywall around the fixture.

This is especially true if you need to take one of these fixtures out. Other than that, the light is pleasant and the install is relatively easy.

BIG improvement over the 20+ years old halogens we had. Love that you can regulate the coolness or warmth of the white light. Perfect for highlighting artwork or any focal point on your walls. Very happy with purchase and reasonable priced!.

I had to buy a 2nd light because the first went shorted out 1 week after it was installed. I had to buy the same type because 3 others were already installed and I did not want to mismatch the lights on the ceiling.

Hopefully this unit will work. These lights are all made in china and appear to be on the cheap side.

This light was just what was needed to replace an old fixture. Easy installation. Didn’t give it 5 stars because we could not figure out how to get the remote to pair to the device. Since we didn’t need the dimmer feature, it didn’t matter if the remote was used or not.

Interesting piece. Light weight, but durable enough and quality is good. Installation was easy. sort of, with minimal to NO instructions. No wiring instructions. Instruction for remote limited at best.

Light at full bright is amazingly bright. Dimming and color options are good, but I had expected to be able to dim to a very low light setting. This is not the case. All said and done, it’s up there, and as I had hoped, it’s a nice addition to the room.

Very bright and reacts from many many feet away. Is attached by 2 screws and uses batteries and can even be used outside. I used it for my doggie door at night. It comes on immediately and stays on until no movement is around.

Great for pets or kids too. Love it! Is very sturdy and Works great in all weather outdoors too! :).

It’s a nice solid product, and gives the illumination that I wanted for my pathway. I put a little roof over it in order to protect it from the elements. I’m pleased with this spotlight, and would recommend.

Buying 4 batteries is a tad expensive, but I believe that l will get a year or more service from them, so ideal for places where you have no power supply or sunlight to operate a solar light.

Installed in my bathroom near the door. Light sensor works great. If you turn on the room lights, it doesn’t turn on. If you just walk in–it turns on. Light is bright enough to light a fairly small bathroom, which is exactly what I wanted.

Basically, it’s a night light that turns on when you enter. Very cool.

If you are like me, my existing recessed downlight was a direct wire LED. So, I had to cut the screw in socket plug off and direct wire it. Then, because of its larger depth size, I had to take out the existing light housing for it to fit.

The width was also larger than the preexisting hole cut out in the vinyl soffet. So, I cut the hole in the vinyl out larger. I was affraid the adjustable wings were not going to hold the light tight enough against the vinyl because the wings are not that close to the outer frame that sits flush with the ceiling.

I installed the light on the front porch outside, so I wanted it to not be too loose to reduce mosture entry. Luckily after turning the light in the direction indicated on the instruction sheet, it locked into place.

Even with the effort, I am very happy with the product. I already am a Hue user. I especially like the ability to set colors to match my holiday decorations outside based on app automation and geofensing so the light comes on when I pull up to the house, making it easier to see when walking up to the front door.

I am also a Nest doorbell user, so I wished that they communicated with one another so when the Nest video doorbell picks someone up, the Hue light would come on and make the area more visible. As a work around, I just set up automation, so the light is on for a period of time after dark to help delivery personel see when dropping off packages at the door.

I have read most of the low-star reviews on here and basically, the reviews are coming from inexperienced people. I have installed over 40 of these without one problem. For starters, yes you do need cans per electrical code, especially around the insulated attics.

The can should be IC-rated if you do have insulation. I have even installed these outdoors without any issues. I have managed to install these in a stucco soffit without cans cutting a 4-inch hole. But be warned this is not the proper way and good luck removing them after.

Without the can, you have to then buy an electrical box and cover for the connections. Most cans run 10 to 15 dollars which then requires extra work annnnddddd you risk a fire caused by a spark. In regards to removing them from the can after install, it clearly says in the included manual that you need to spin the light clockwise.

This folds the tabs in and the light comes out. Why wouldn’t you want your light to be tightly secured? I have used many brands and different bulbs. I have even bought cheaper bulbs that connect to hue and $25 dollars a pop, but then you have to buy the cover at anywhere from $15 to $25 dollars totaling at least $50 bucks.

Ok, you saved 5 bucks, but remember that with the Philips entertainment center feature those bulbs will not work. Also with the aftermarket bulbs, there are no updates, or after power settings, etc. In the end, I’ll give it 4 stars because of the price, but of all the ones I have installed, I have not had one fail yet in over a year.

If it did fail, so what! it’s not like Philips is not going to replace it. After all, nothing in life is perfect, just inconvenient.

I can’t give it 5* rating, as I think the Wiz sister light is better build physically. The Hue version use the 3 clip support system that may or may not give you troubles getting a snug held to the ceiling flat install.

I’ve installed the 3 clip system many time is the past, however my cans aren’t installed 100% right and the clips just won’t work well with them. I could have caulked them in place, but these are smart lights that you may need access to the inside at any given moment.

I cannibalized any old set of halogen retro fit to remove the spring system and made a makeshift system to support them on the Hue bulbs without damaging/modifying the light in anyway. The Wiz light uses the spring system and holds tight (if you cans have the spring bracket inside.

). That said I replaced 2 Wiz lights with the Hue ones as I needed a smart light proper switch to make these two lights ( 4 total but others where A19 types) compatible with a sleeping partner and not wanting to wake them talking to Alexa.

Wiz still lacks 3rd party support for seamless smart lighting when you in a generation that doesn’t want to carry a phone with you all the time to bypass talking to your voice assistant. Or if teaching visitors how to use your lights.

we invited them to visit, not hold a class on smart lighting :/ Anyway, beyond the mounting system which may not be an issue for you, the lights are great in every other way. The addition of 2 Aurora Smart-light Dimmers the system is now user friendly, be it visitors or us two old farts that live here rofl.

Very Happy with these WiFi downlights. Cant say enough good things about them. They are very bright if you want or easily adjustable to a softer white if you choose. The colors are virtually limitless and very vibrant and beautiful.

The App is user friendly and works great. We have ours set up with Google Home devices for voice activation and it also was easy to set up and works great. They function very well. We actually did have one of eight not work right so I called Maxxima customer service and they sent me a new one immediately.

The gentleman I spoke too was Courteous and helpful and gave me Zero hassle. I then bought three more of the same lights.

I like all the features on this 4 inch LED replacement CAN light kit. Easy to swap out and install. To change the colors, you must download and setup an account using the TuyaSmart App. The App is from a well established player in home automation, so no huge worries about future support.

The myriad of colors is great. Two things that took me down to 4 stars: (1) The flange which butts up to my ceiling is slightly bent on one side (don’t really see it when installed up high, but seems a quality defect) and (2) the light always powers on to white for split second before reverting back to the color selected previously in the App.

Delivery super fast as always. Qualify super. Better price than homedepot and Amazon. Colors. Too many to choose from. Just great. Works w alexa and others. I have 4 in my daughter’s room. U can turn them all at.

I replaced two older fluorescent fixtures that contained four 2 foot tubes. These lights are brighter and they look much nicer. The remote for it works fine. My only complaint is that there were no installation instructions (except for using the remote), but I’m handy enough to have figured it out.

A template for installing it in the ceiling would have been helpful (I made my own), but otherwise I am very happy with the lamps.

Very flimsy materials. Fragile. Had to return one because wires were not soldered and some clips missing. So it could not work. I ordered two lights and wanted to use both remotes. One at each door. Could only use one for both lights.

So the other is a back up I guess.

The metal is good quality and the light itself is finished very well. The variation of type and brightness of light is great and installation was really easy. We are looking to purchase two more of the same light for different areas of the house.

Very easy to install when replacing an old fluorescent. Wiring was there, four screws to hold it to the ceiling, very lightweight so normal drywall anchors are fine. Easy to wire and then put the shield in place.

Works very well at lighting up the kitchen. Great cost. Still figuring out where to mount the second one.

The lights are excellent as really helped to brighten up the area where installed. When I installed the second one, 2 of the 4 strips of the LEDs would not light up. I tapped it and like magic it came on and worked.

for about a week. Sam’s Club replaced without any questions which I really appreciated other than having to go through the work of taking down the original and replacing it.

The light fixtures work wonderfully. Very easy to install. Although it’s only been 2 weeks since they’ve been installed, I’m pleased with the results. A definite brighter light improvement in my kitchen.
