20 Best Wireless Pc Speakers (2022 Updated)

After seeing their specs and reviews, I was quite intrigued by these R1280DB speakers, advertising a 55Hz-20kHz frequency response at a great price point, and even being called “studio monitors” on Amazon.

Upon hooking them up, I could immediately tell that there was an object in front of the tweeters causing ringing in the highs and attenuation in the mid-highs. They are boomy, yet lacking bass, but still having depth.

They made me want to crank up both the bass and treble, yet having plenty of bass and treble at the same time. Delving in with a frequency sweep to figure out what was wrong, this is what I discovered: -The amplifier rolls off way too soon, causing poor bass response between 45-100Hz (-9dB) that the woofers could easily drive with a little boost.

I did see several reviews where people complained that these lack bass; this is why. Larger capacitors in the signal path could improve this, and a tuned bass boost circuit could fix it altogether. The included bass control knob is unhelpful here because of the next issue.

-There is a strong +9dB resonance around 140Hz that makes the speakers boomy. I believe this wouldn’t be so bad if they filled the speaker enclosure with sound deadening material, but the housing is completely hollow inside like an echo chamber, and not even padded! -There are some interesting distortions that come and go (different in each speaker) as the frequency goes between 100-500Hz.

After this, the distortion is unacceptably high all the rest of the way up. The lower distortions I believe are things rattling inside the speaker housing. The higher distortions are electronic. -The mid-treble is weak (about -3dB) around 3.

5kHz, which will cause people with high-frequency hearing loss to perceive these speakers as having “no treble”. Combined with the boominess, this could make the speakers sound muddy to these individuals.

I believe the tweeter diffuser is partially responsible for this; however, the crossover circuit is probably also out of tune. Turning up the treble control does not help as it only raises the already crisp highs mentioned next.

-As the frequency goes up further, there are weird ringing artifacts at certain frequencies due to the tweeter diffusers, although the overall level stays nice and crisp. I did not try removing them, so I cannot vouch for whether they are covering a greater fault or if removing them would help.

My conclusion is that these speakers are a great idea that was poorly executed. All of these frequency response issues could have easily been addressed with some basic, passive filters in the amplifier electronics.

-With such glaring frequency response issues, these are most definitely not “reference” speakers and CANNOT be used as monitors. If you think these make great monitors, you should not be mixing audio—they are nowhere close! -If you’re expecting a great sound (like the advertised frequency response suggests), you will be disappointed by the above traits.

No, it is not the fault of the 4″ woofer, but of subpar amplifier electronics that lack adequate filter circuitry to let them realize their full potential. -Yes, these speakers much better than a pair of cheap satellite speakers with no subwoofer.

-Yes, they can actually realize a decent 45Hz-30kHz, but there are huge peaks and valleys within that range, hence the deceptive appearance of fidelity. If you have a parametric equalizer, you can improve their response by setting: +9dB at 90Hz O2-LS, -9dB at 140Hz Q2.

0, and +3dB at 3. 5kHz Q0. 6 (assuming the treble and bass controls are centered). -Despite being not great either, my old Logitech X-230 speakers have a flatter frequency response. Therefore, I cannot recommend these speakers and would suggest considering the higher model R2000DB speakers instead.

The box indicates the same 55Hz-20KHz frequency response but with a ±3dB tolerance (important!), they have a larger woofer, the tweeters don’t have a diffuser in front of them, and the bass ports exit in the back instead of the front.

Indeed, the R1280T non-Bluetooth speakers (which use the same speaker elements as these R1280DB) are advertised with a much more honest 75Hz-18kHz ±9db frequency response, which is about what I’d say these are actually good for.

(For those who don’t know, ±9dB tolerance is really bad, with ±3dB being the industry standard. ).

Back when the Creature speakers were being sold it was about the cost of this speaker system. That one sounded great. Edifier has an impressive setup for this model, with multiple inputs and types as well as Bluetooth support.

However the sound seems very flat. These days it seems speakers are built for Hip-Hop music. I want something more robust and less bass. It seems the speaker really knows how to produce bass well, but mid and treble have a hard time even when adjusting the tone knobs accordingly.

For the price, I would have expected better sound. To be honest, I’ve only used the bluetooth input at this point and it may behave differently with a true analog input, but overall I’m not that impressed by the sound quality.

Not a con, but people should know that for Dolby you need to use the optical cable. Other wise its standard stereo(Which still sounds great) On this system we are already using the optical slot on the mobo for Astro A50, however the regular audio jack quality is still amazing and has not bothered us, if we watched movies with this system maybe a issue.

but for gaming who cares, but you should still be aware. Of note you can adjust the sub volume separate from the speaker, however this requires holding one button and using another, just read the manual, many are unaware of this.

At first I was concerned this may be a bit expensive. but honestly, its I feel a solid value if it fits your use. I have bought a few sound bars, and this is definitely better then the cheaper $100-150 ones I have installed in guest rooms.

This is not a home theater system. so yes it does not sound like my $1k home theater and I wouldn’t expect it to, but when at $200 it is cheaper then many of the headsets laying around my house, I feel its a fair price.

In closing if desk space is a premium these should fit under your monitor nicely(measure if you need to first), and if I needed one and wanted to spend a bit, these would make for a pretty intense sound system for bedroom theater.

So my only hesitant use would be as primary audio for a living room or console experience, this has to do with the lack of remote and auto off. things that really wont impact a PC or guest room experience.

Awesome unit with a few intricacies. Out of the box, it will power off after an hour – arbitrarily. There is a patch that fixes this. Secondly, some people complain about it having “too much bass”. You can adjust this by holding down the “Dolby” button and using the volume up-down controls.

Luckily for me, the previous owner didn’t know this and ditched it cheaply because he had these problems!.

These speakers are quite expensive but they are great, very loud with out distortion and muffled sounds when having the speakers on a high volume compared to other high price speakers, and even though the subwoofer is quite small it is no slouch, when you have it on medium to high you can feel the subwoofer.

They are really loud for the size of them, a lot better than I had expected from a sound bar. The only issue I have is the optical audio cable it came with seems really really cheap considering your paid a heavy price for the speakers.

Good stereo image, detailed sound which is clear at low volumes. Speech sounds natural rather than base heavy. I listen to classical music & jazz as background when working at the computer so volume is more than sufficient.

Volume control is easy to set (unlike some digital controls which jump incrementally) and has a good range. Blue tooth connection good on laptop and iPad although desktop is not cooperating at the moment – but cable works.

Speakers work fairly well for their price point though the audio tends to be on the muffled end for deeper-sounding audio. Only complaint I have is that sometimes when there is audio from multiple programs at once, it seems like the speakers don’t know which program’s to prioritize.

What happens next is that they will momentarily blank out for a few seconds, causing no audio to come through. So far this issue has only occurred when I plug the speakers in with the cable, I am not sure if this also happens through Bluetooth.

Nevertheless it’s a bit annoying of an issue when I am gaming and talking on Discord at the same time. I also use these for remote work and they do their job well.

I’ve been a life long Logitech fan and user and always enjoyed their products, but this disappointed me. The sound range is not that great, I was expecting more bass from speakers of this size. I’ve certainly heard speakers that are smaller than this but give out a lot more bass.

So in that regard these are only marginally better than built in laptop speakers. But the thing about these speakers that annoys me the most is how they just shut down whenever you’re playing anything quiet.

There seems to be certain loudness threshold embedded into these and if the audio coming through the stereo cable isn’t loud enough then the speakers just mute themselves. Super annoying, I’ve had them going totally silent on me during short pauses in music.

A friend of mine had the older version of these without the bluetooth; used them for his vinyl turntable. I was impressed with the sound from them then but didn’t have the opportunity to play them at louder levels or with tracks that I was deeply familiar with already to really evaluate them.

After purchasing these for myself however, I’m completely blown away by the audio quality that they can achieve with such a small footprint. They can get LOUD and the natural audio balance is really nice.

Substantial bass — more than what I expected from these — but not muddy or overpowering. I have them hardwired to my turntable and they’ve been fantastic for that but what I was really surprised by was the audio quality over bluetooth that they can achieve.

It’s really nice to pair them to my computer or phone and completely fill my office with music. There is some continuous baseline audio noise that you can hear if nothing is playing and you are right next to the speakers, however they are currently directly plugged into an outlet on a rather noisy circuit in my house.

But ultimately if something is playing you’d never notice it; the signal-to-noise ratio in this case is still really good. All this being said, I absolutely do not regret this purchase in any way. They punch way above their belt in both size and cost.

They’re small enough that they could potentially be used as computer speakers. But they’re big enough to provide enough resonance for deeper sounds. If you want speakers to put on a bookshelf in your office and absolutely fill the room even at only 30% volume with phenomenal fidelity — get these.

I brought home a pair of red A2+ in March ’21 so it’s almost been a year listening to them. From the jump they just crushed what I was using prior (a 20 year-old Creative I-Trigue L3500 2. 1 system).

I love their sound, they are super well-balanced to my ear, they can get loud if I want them to and considering what they are and the size of the main driver they can push some serious bass for a speaker of this size.

I just purchased a sub to complement these speakers because I have found I am enjoying listening to music so much more over the last year and want to take it a step further and fill out the bottom-end some more.

They feel really well-built, heavy and solid, paint application is very clean – my only nitpick as far as paint is that I can see through the bass ports at the bottom of the enclosures and see unfinished MDF inside at certain angles.

Not a big deal imo, I just close my eyes and listen and all is forgiven. Some folks online feel differently, but I love that the control knob is on the back so that the speakers stay looking tidy and symmetrical and without any LEDs to detract from their clean look.

I love that they come in microfiber cinch bags, I’m a sucker for a good bag. I also love the Bluetooth feature, and it’s so awesome that it supports simultaneous inputs so that I can be playing a game on my PC and listen to music from my phone at the same time.

I’ve also been enjoying playing my Ibanez through these through a USB audio interface and Guitar Rig and it sounds better than any amp I’ve owned, albeit I’ve only ever owned cheap amps. These speakers make me very happy and I am so glad I took the plunge.

The MSRP was daunting at the time but now that I know what I know having lived with them for a year, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

These are my first set of real speakers. I don’t consider myself an audiophile per say but I do enjoy a full soundstage. I got these to go into my office setup in a smaller spare bedroom. Straight out of the box, these sound GREAT.

Honestly, not sure what others were hearing that complained. I was also pleasantly surprised by the amount of bass these output. Was it earth shattering, no, which is why I picked up a Dayton 1000 sub which pairs with these nicely for those that need more than what the speakers themselves give you.

I am still playing around with this setup but as of now Im using bluetooth through my M1 Mac. Connects well and stays connected even after being asleep. 1 con is that you have to physically disable the bluetooth on the Mac before you can connect your phone to the speaker.

I do wish there was a more seamless way to do this. Also, these cannot hear you when trying to use Siri! I can imagine the same thing would happen with Zoom or FaceTime. Again this was my first go round with external speakers so I figured that would have been standard, but it seem like I’d need to get an additional mic (plus a camera, since I’m using a LG curved screen) and that’s a lot of extra purchases/cords to maneuver around.

Likely my own ignorance for not looking into that more closely but as of now that’s the most disappointing thing about these speakers. Im hoping Ill come across something on the web that will tell me Im doing something wrong.

Besides those 2 things, I think these are a great purchase both for the sound, size and the overall aesthetic. 4 stars.

So I had just purchased a set of Klipsch “The Fives” at Costco ($600) after seeing them on the shelf and wondering why the exorbitant high pricetag. After reading and watching reviews, and learning why they are so good I went back and picked up a set.

A few days later i was at Walmart and just happened to spot these Klipsch Promedia 2. 0 on a low shelf in electronics dept and it was the only box they had. At the time of writing this review 12/12/21, there is literally nothing on the internet about these desktop speakers.

The only thing that comes up when you search are the Klipsch Promedia 2. 1 system which come with a sub. I did a little digging and it looks like Klipsch discontinued the first promedia 2. 0 design, beloved by many happy owners, and it appears this is the new release to replace those.

First impressions, they look really good, and the small size is nice, about 10″ height, they have a slight backward lean to them. I like the minimalist black, matte finish. outer shell is plastic. the cord connecting the two speakers is only 6ft, plenty wide for a desktop.

but it is removable! (good job Klipsch) so i am sure you could purchase a much longer component cable if you wanted to spread these out a bit more. Plugged in and powered on, there is one disappointing feature I really hate- The LED light on the front is obnoxiously bright.

They did not show this on the box. or on the product photos on Walmart. com. Going to have to cover it with black electrical tape. These Klipsch 2. 0 can connect via AUX with included 3. 5mm audio jack, USB, or Bluetooth- the feature that I bought them for.

I am hoping i’m able to bluetooth connect them to my Klipsch “The Fives”, or to the tv so that i can add rear surround sound to my TV/videogaming setup. if that doesn’t work these will become kitchen or bedroom speakers.

The instructions are super basic so pay attention: to activate bluetooth mode, press the volume knob in 1 quick press. to enter bluetooth pairing mode, 1 long press on the bass knob. now that we are connected, the Sound clarity is pretty awesome.

Klipsch some how managed to squeeze in a woofer on the back side of these little beasts. You can adjust bass and vol only, and bluetooth connection works very well I haven’t had it drop or anything. Overall these are a really great budget-price speaker, with high quality sound, very easy to use and Klipsch was thoughtful and smart enough to add a removable speaker connecting cable, but should have put the led indicator light on the back or ability to turn it off.

Pros: I’ve been a big fan of Klipsch for years. I owned the pro media 2. 1 and before and the Subwoofer was too much for a simple desk/office where you’d just like to play music or watch videos without shaking your cup of coffee.

The Klipsch Promedia 2. 0 Bluetooth Desktop Speaker plays extremely GREAT quality. Clean Mids and Highs for music and voice for calls. And they can even pack some lows in the bass when needed (kudos for throwing in the bass knob).

Packed together with a sleek look and simple cable setup, these speakers are your GO TO solution for everything you’d want in a desktop audio system that gives you that oomph when you want to put the volume up for music or just some background music while you work at low volumes.

Definitely worth it to get these and am surprised they’re not sold anywhere else. If they’re still available, get them. You wont regret it over any other choice of speakers. They even turn off automatically after not being used for a while.

Nice energy saving technique and also to quiet down the notifications from your laptop (if you forget to turn them off). Cons: The LED indicator is super bright. I had to put some 3M dark tape over it to completely cover it.

Luckily, there are two other holes in the front where you can peak in and see which color it’s on. (Red is off, Blue is bluetooth, green is Aux).

First I tried them with an audible book and they’re muffled and too bassy. Audible has no EQ, I’ve been asking for years. Audioengine has one for their Wi-Fi speakers, not these. I tried music next and again they sound flat and awful with no way to adjust the sound.

I got these to replace my two Anker Boosts that sync together for stereo and have an EQ. They may be staying as they sound great since I can tweak the sound. Another gripe I have is there are no grilles to keep the dust out of the drivers.

All need be done is create an app with EQ control. As they are I can’t recommend them. Note that I love my HD6 system with S6 subwoofer, but they’re running on a computer where everything has an EQ.

After listening to these little A1 speakers for a couple of weeks, I struggle as to how to review them. The TL;DR is I am keeping them. (and I ordered the stands tonight) I didn’t give them 5 stars for a few reasons.

They do sound “great for their size”. But I don’t care about their size, I care about how they sound. They can get loud, impressively so, but I feel like they are missing just a little something. its almost as if the transition from tweeter to main driver have a dip in the middle of the crossover point.

They are missing a sense of AIR in the upper mids or lower treble (I can’t quite put my finger on where in the frequency response that something is amiss. ) They are almost sterile sounding. I got these because I wanted something with a little bass, but not subwoofer bass.

These deliver a decent and surprising little thump. I have played pink noise through them for a couple days (not very loudly) trying to get them to open up. I hope the stands help. I am keeping them because, while not perfect, they do deliver great sound.

My favorite feature is the fact that these can play from Bluetooth AND the input at the Same Time! I have these hooked to my main Windows gaming system, but I also have them Bluetooth connected to my Mac Mini computer.

I can be gaming and listening and watching guides/videos etc on the other monitor and hear both. Love that. Less wires. 2 systems, 1 set of speakers. I would give them 9/10 if I could. Really Good, not Great.

I think that you could maybe get better sound for the same cost. but these are good enough for what I wanted them for. Sorry I can’t be more positive here. I think they are a little over priced for what you get.

I’ve been using these speakers daily for about 6-8 hours a day for the last couple weeks and I think the sound is wonderful for how small they are! The clarity is exceptional and the bass is surprisingly pretty decent as well for a small speaker.

I also love the grey/black color finish, it works really well with my dark office theme. I have however, had a really hard time with the bluetooth connectivity (which was a huge reason I bought these).

Sometimes it works great, other times it cuts out constantly and can be really frustrating. I tried moving them to different locations, away from any other bluetooth devices and my wireless router. Nothing seamed to help.

Now I’m forced to hardwire them to my computer. Not a huge deal, but for the price on these, I would expect a stronger bluetooth connection. Not enough of a deal breaker for me to return them, but probably would have taken that into consideration before spending $200 on speakers.

I could not be happier than with my purchase of the Audioengine HD3’s. I had limitied deskspace and I wanted the best sound that I could get. These hit that mark. I do not know if I would qualify as an audiophile, but definitely as an audio enthusiast.

I reviewed online and on YouTube all the best speakers that would qualify as desktop speakers and these were the ones. The sound quality makes them audiophile worthy. I do recommend the stands that they sell and I do use a sub-woofer and I flip the reduced bass switch to allow the sub to take the lowest range.

Absolutely sold on the performance and sound!.

Ive exchanged over 12 emails with Audioengine and they spent the first 8 ignoring every request to return what they have confirmed appears to be a faulty product. The speakers emit an electronic buzz / feedback sound that is only overshadowed by music when at mid-range volume.

If playing music quietly or loudly the buzz is most if not all you can hear. After 5 days of asking how to return these, their support staff — Patrick — finally shared how. Which, btw, must be within 5 business days.

Coincidently, the amount of time it took them to outline how to return their broken speakers. If they were treating this like their audition, I would have 10 business days to return WORKING SPEAKERS.

Most notably. I have to pay to return these expensive paper weights. ! (Thats not going to be cheap. ) Long story short, they would send replacements for free, but after dealing with these [insert expletives here] for more than a week, turns out if you dont want to let them keep your money after sending bad product — THEY MAKE YOU PAY TO RETURN THEIR BROKEN SPEAKERS and give you way less time than if you were auditioning them.

Just mindboggling rich sound. hard to believe when you look at the tiny size of these speakers. Downside is they’re quite pricey and you don’t get a remote. You can get similar (but generally bulkier) devices for far less money in brands like Edifier or Creative.

Nutshell. I needed something small but good and this fits the bill.

I’m just getting back into the speaker game. This model showed up in the recommended for desktop speakers. A bit bigger than expected so I am still waiting on clamped desk mounts. I’m glad I went with bamboo.

Laminated MDF doesn’t feel special. I’m confident I’d find the same satisfaction as countless of other reviews. Haven’t seen any surprise flaws yet.

i was originally looking for some small powered speakers for a small receiver I had in my bedroom. My main speakers downstairs are Paradigm Atoms, known for there open and spacious sound. I installed them and began listening to some CD’s and MP3’s from CD’s.

Before I knew it almost an hour and a half had gone by, I literally could not stop listening to these speakers. There direction is fairly critical in order to get the proper soundstage, but once you find the sweet spot, you’ll know.

I think what kept me listening so long was all the subtle little details that were revealed. Its not knock you over changes but more what I would call nuances. You’ll actually have to listen to the speakers to hear it, but that’s what is so great about these little speakers.

They are powerful as well, they will get quite loud If you want them to, but that’s another thing, they don’t have to be played loud to appreciate them. These speakers will literally make you listen to your music, and I think that’s a good thing.

I play a Rhythm game called osu! where timing is extremely important and these speakers perform extremely well in both latency and audio quality. The subwoofer is also very powerful. I’ve got a JBL 9.

1 Surround Sound System and this subwoofer is comparable to the JBL sub. Not quite as powerful but for a PC setup it absolutely blows any competition out of the park. I also watched quite a lot of anime and movies with the visual lightsync on and it performed a lot better than I thought.

Having the wall light up in sync with the movie on screen feels very immersive. I’m not an audio expert but the audio quality is clearer than my Astro A40 headset that I have used for a few years. The audio lightsync is also quite cool to see as well.

The Logitech application you use on the PC is pretty easy to setup and use. There’s quite a lot of settings to mess around with as well if you’re right into your audio quality.

Logitech have made some fine sounding speakers, then decided to kill them with firmware updates and GHub. Let me be upfront: If you are not a heavy base lover, these will be great for you and you can download and use the software and new firmware no problem.

If you like Base, these require 30 minutes of prep work. The latest firmware and driver updates basically kill the base at very low volumes, and these are already extremely loud at 20% volume in Windows.

Google Search: “Reddit How to make your G560 Speakers sound awesome and fix all sound related issues” This thread explains how to make these sound absolutely fantastic. After doing this however, GHub is rendered useless for them (these are my only Logi device so no big deal, I just uninstalled), and lightsync does not function, as well as the lights tend to flicker, so I have them permanently off.

Logitech basically made it so that the only sound profile windows sees is a simulated 7. 1 Surround and nothing else, not even basic 2. 1 Stereo, which is frankly insane. Following the directions in the thread revert them to Generic USB Sound Devices bringing stereo back but losing 7.

1. The software used in the link above to make them sound great is safe for your computer, and the author even included his/her own sound profile for ease of setup and it sounds VERY nice. If you do not care about any of the fancy stuff, they are VERY NICE sounding speakers.

Its a shame Logitech has basically abandoned these, but with the tweaks in the link above, I am very happy with them. I have to dock a star because while they sound great, no user should have to go through all this to make the base actually sound good at low volumes.

I’ve owned these speakers since 2019, and the overall sound quality and everything is great. However, the firmware updates completely ruin them. First, the firmware update the speakers came with had the volume levels totally off.

I could only ever put my PC volume on 10, and anything about that typically would just be completely blown out. I did a lot of research and MANY people complained about this. They released a firmware updated that fixed that, but then somehow completely removed any bass coming from the subwoofer.

Even with adjustments, the subwoofer became completely useless. That update was from 2018. Finally just a few months ago, AFTER ALMOST 3 YEARS OF RADIO SILENCE FROM LOGITECH ABOUT FIXING THESE BUGS, they released a new firmware update this May that seemingly resolved both the volume level issue and the subwoofer issue.

I was hoping for this update to finally make these 100% usable, but unfortunately now every so often, the speakers disconnect, sound shuts off, and then after 3 seconds or so it comes back BOOMING. This issue happens pretty often, and again I’ve done research and multiple people are complaining about this issue.

I really wanted to like these speakers and have held on for over 2 years, but I think it’s time for me to find something better. Don’t hold your breath for quick and fast firmware updates. Logitech just can’t seem to make an update that doesn’t come with major bugs that ruin the entire experience.

I bought these a week ago to upgrade my PC sound, as well as to listen to my phone (podcast, music, audiobook) when I’m not using the computer. My old speakers were fine but I only want one set of speakers in the space and I want them to do the computer and the phone easliy.

These do that! The Bluetooth/PC/3. 5mm switching process is a button – couldn’t be easier. There’s a sound every time you connect a phone, but it’s not bad. The sound is not as good as my Edifier 1280DB bookshelf speakers, which take the digital TV output as well as bluetooth.

Specifically, the Z407 has louder bass, but it’s not as clear. For music, the Edifiers are definitely better. However, this isn’t an issue for me playing Far Cry or whatever, and the music is still enjoyable.

I’ll primarily be listening to podcasts + audiobooks and I bought these to suit my setup. The remote puck is really simple to use (and it doesn’t feel cheap) and has good gradations of volume. I have my computer attached by USB and the volume control is fed back to the PC – adjusting either adjusts the other.

It is worth noting that the remote puck is essential – without it you couldn’t use them, as there are no buttons on the speakers. Overall: Great speakers, I’m very happy, they do the trick, but if they were just for music, or if my PC could output easily to bookshelf speakers (+my desk had space), I think I’d go that route instead.

For the (reduced) price I’m pretty pleased, but more money would have got me better sound as well as the input flexibility (Logitech Z623 (no remote, old bluetooth), G560 (I don’t need lights, still no remote).

In future if I get more space I won’t buy computer speakers again, I’ll buy music speakers and make do for gaming, maybe connect them with a 3. 5mm audio jack. Also notable, it was cardboard instead of plastic in the packaging (apart from the polybags).

The Edifiers were surrounded by styrofoam.

I still like these speakers, but there are some issues you would need to consider prior to purchase. 1. As mentioned ptreviously: The speakers give a very loud musical sound on activation and deactivation of the computer.

You cannot control this with volume control nor speaker driver updates. This is a problem if you are working late at night as the sound of the speakers closing down is intrusive. Removing the speaker cords, prior to shutting down is the work around.

Then reconnect these after. But this is an inconvenience, especially if your speaker locations make cord access difficult!. The 2nd issue is, that on some apps the speakers actually overrule your volume choice.

On numerous occasions I have purposely changed my computer volume to low, and before my eyes the volume slider moves to mid-way, with a loud sound effect! So I repeat and it does the same move and sound at me.

The only way I could lower the volume was to use the speaker remote control. BUT this is inconsistent as it does let me control some apps via the computer audio controls. The forced volume and chastising sound are intrusive late at night when low volume is needed.

Although, I still like these seakers, they are a hassel, and I would NOT recommend purchasing them, unless you were prepared for these inconveniences. I don’t know what Logitech were thinking!.

I needed Speakers for my PC but didn’t have a lot of space. The Logitech Z407 speakers solved that problem! I can now lay the satellite speakers on their side with the included stands and they fit neatly between my desk and the bottom of my monitors.

The sub was easily located on the floor and because these speakers come with a wireless controller, I can adjust the volume with ease! OH!! And I can connect to the speakers via cable to my PC or Bluetooth from my phone (or any other device with Bluetooth) Top that off with great quality sound! I would highly recommend these speakers!.

Great set of speakers with amazing sound. I have a Logitech streaming camera, keyboard/mouse, so decided to go with what I know, and what I am happy with. The only (small) problem I had was opening the sound controller to add the batteries.

Needed to YouTube it, several videos later I worked it out! Other than that, easy to set-up. The internal packing was superb. I am very happy with this purchase.

I like these speakers and having a remote controller is very useful. The only thing I don’t like is the very loud start and close down sound effects it makes. And I do mean loud! You cannot control the volume, regardless of whether you had it on mute prior.

I note other reviews on other sites indicate this cannot be changed (controls nor driver). There is a work around, if you can access the back of the subwoofer, depending where you set it up. If you undplug the speakers from the subwoofer prior to start-up and close-down.

These are a great entry into the SoundSticks line of speakers. As my title states, these were originally designed by Apple for Mac back in 2000, with subsequent iterations in the last 21 years. I love that these harken back to Apple’s product design of the first half of the 2000s with the clear high quality plastic encasing a nice design internally with white accents; very Apple-like! I use these everyday with my Mac mini and they haven’t disappointed: just like with Apple’s products, they just work where Harman Kardon has factory-tuned the sound profile for what they think is the best experience that you can get with these.

Now, if you want to customize the sound to your liking, you can search for and install an app that lets you do so. The unit is made up of two satellite speakers with built-in left and right RCA cables, the subwoofer, and power cable, which are all connected to the subwoofer.

Although not included, if you’re like me and plan to use this with a stationary source (Mac mini), I purchased a simple white-colored 3. 5 mm audio cable to plug in and have lag-free audio. These speakers also have the option for bluetooth so, if you have an iPhone or any other bluetooth-enabled device that you want to stream audio from, you’re covered.

As for the most important aspect (the sound), these sound AWESOME! Very clean with no emphasis on any one aspect of sound: simply well-rounded. The bass on these sound REALLY GOOD as well: you can FEEL the bass whenever you listen to a bass-heavy sound effect or song.

Speaking of sound, in order to adjust the volume, the subwoofer has touch-sensitive buttons on the front face towards the bottom; a departure from previous generations that had the volume control on one of the speakers itself.

However, as with all external speakers, since I set the speaker volume on the physical unit itself to around halfway and then adjust on my Mac itself, this is a non-issue for me. What’s also cool is that, if you do decide to adjust the volume, the center of the subwoofer’s interior lights up in a number of rings: when you lower the volume, the number of rings decreases towards the center; when raised, the number of rings increases radiating out from the center.

What a nice touch! You never have to worry about turning these speakers off as they have an auto standby feature that kicks in when there’s no sound after a few minutes. Whenever it does go to sleep, you’ll know by the subwoofer’s center light inside the dome lighting up and staying lit for a few minutes finally turning off.

The only downside about this is that they don’t always wake up right away when sound starts to play; I’ve had these wait as long as around 20 seconds on occasion before finally hearing what I want! However, this was with the previous unit that I replaced with the one that I’m reviewing now, so it may have been just a quirk with that particular unit (one of the reasons why I returned the old one, just in case).

Overall, I would DEFINITELY recommend these beauties to anyone who wants the combination of great aesthetics and sound, with that Apple-like ease of use and just works balanced sound.

I was looking for computer speakers that could double as Bluetooth speakers for music and podcasts. I have several BT speakers and an Apple HomePod but was looking for a little more separation. While I was a bit skeptical about the size of the speakers, I am very pleased to say that the reviews were accurate.

This system is phenomenal. I am shocked by the depth of sound that comes from speakers of this size, and the integration of the sub in the soundstage is excellent. This is a terrific compromise for computer/BT/bookshelf speakers.

Haven’t used the soundsticks for long, but first imprestion is nice. Elegant design, good sound. What did spoil things was the app I found to remotely control the sticks. In a word, I never figured out how to make it work as the app does not see the system connected via bluetooth.

Please improved it. Apart from that the overall experience has been good so far.

i needed speakers for my turntable. saw these had Bluetooth function as well and made the purchase. easy setup. playing music in less than 5 minutes. sound was surprisingly better than expected. i assumed bass would be almost non existent.

i was wrong. plenty of bass for my listening taste. volume can get loud without much distortion. i haven’t yet hooked into the Bluetooth but i am sure that will be just as good. love the fact it came with remote.

I truly cannot believe the reviews these speakers have gotten. These are the worst speakers I have ever purchased! Don’t waste your money. You could purchase the cheapest speakers available today and they would easily out preform Edifier speakers.

The sound quality is terrible to put it nicely. THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT, DON’T BUY ANYTHING FROM EDIFIER! If you don’t believe me, go ahead and buy them and find out for yourself. But know that you have been warned.

At this price point, there aren’t a lot of great sounding speakers. These truly do sound great. They have some good oomph to them, clean mids and highs, and are definitely worth it. The couple of caveats are probably not dealbreakers, but they are worth knowing before you buy: First, these don’t use regular speaker wire between the satellites and the subwoofer because of the lighting capability — for that reason, you’re limited to a fixed cable that comes with it and is permanently attached to the satellite speakers — so there’s no customizing the length of the cables here.

That isn’t a problem in my particular setup, but could be for some folks. They’re plenty long for most situations. The only other caveat is that the lighting effects, while pretty great, have occasionally flaked out on me and stopped working.

Since the latest software update, that stopped happening, but prior to that I’d occasionally have to unplug the USB and plug it back in. On the flip side: one nice bonus is that I can plug in a second computer to the other input (there’s a USB audio input as well as a 3.

5mm jack) and hear sound from both computers out of the same set of speakers without a mixer. This comes with the catch that you may need to adjust volume on both computers a bit to balance things out (USB-connected computer volume down turns it down on both), but that’s never really a huge issue for me.

Overall, solid and worth the buy, but did come with a couple of unexpected caveats I thought worth pointing out.

I like the sound, but before I got to enjoy it I ran into a block right off the bat. The box says there is user documentation inside; the Micro Center website says it’s there; but there was no manual in the box.

I’ve built up enough systems over the years to know this happens and charged ahead to find that the unit didn’t work. I found the docs online and fixed that problem–it turns out that the unit won’t work as a plain PC speaker without using the remote.

The remote reminds me of a hockey puck. I think it’s too big for a hand-operated control, but seems to fragile to be foot operated. Then I found another oddity: The thing won’t turn off! The docs say it turns off when you push on the remote, the remote says it’s turning off with an appropriate sound, the box goes quiet.

but it’s not off! I found that out while moving wires around and getting a loud 60Hz hum from the “switched off” speakers when the audio cable got too close to an AC adapter. The amp is very much alive and responding to volume changes from the “turned off” remote.

Only the input from the computer is muted. I’ll repeat what I led off with: The sound is good. The satellite speakers are nice, with detachable “feet” that let you stand them vertically or horizontally, keeping the speaker body off of the desk/shelf surface.

The main subwoofer box is a nice size and has the nice touch of color-coding the left/right speaker connectors. It could use some sort of a handle or inset on the back side to allow picking it up one-handed when moving things around, but that’s a minor nit.

I’m not sending this back. The computer and room I’m using it in is mostly used for music practice and I’ve plugged the unit into an outlet controlled by the wall switch. Maybe these aren’t deal-killer issues for you, either, but you should be aware of them and they are not documented.

(There is an “official response” to someone else’s question on the Logitech support site about how to turn the box off without unplugging, basically saying “leave it unplugged”. That’s all I’ve seen so far.

This speaker set is pretty impressive for the price. I was looking for something that would sound respectable when I wasn’t using my headphones (Sennheiser HD598 SE). I can’t say these speakers are 100% comparable to the headphones, but they are surprisingly clean sounding and rich.

The subwoofer provides solid punchy bass and matches well with the satellites. Even with the sub mounted under my desk the low end sounds like it’s coming from the satellites and the sound is unified and clear with no low end muddiness.

High end is very crisp as well and the set gets louder than is comfortable for me without distortion. They aren’t as balanced and accurate as my headphones, but they are pleasant to listen to, and I don’t feel any frequencies are distractingly exaggerated or missing.

The wireless controller is also a nice touch. I didn’t think I would like it at first, but its very convenient to use. It works well, looks simple and clean, and the speakers are very responsive to the controller with no delays.

The only complaint I have with the set is that when they go to sleep they seem to take forever to wake up sometimes. You can force them to wake up by turning the dial on the controller, but it would be preferable if they were just more responsive.

A small complaint overall though for such great sound at a reasonable price!.

Bottom Line: The Logitech Z407 computer speakers impress both in terms of sound quality and functionality especially at its price point. Pros: Multiple connectivity options, good sound quality, wireless dial is fun to use, price Cons: design, possible interference issues Review: Out of the box, the speakers were easy to set up.

The wireless control knob is automatically paired with the system, and connecting my computer via Bluetooth was simple and straightforward (the connection is stable, so you don’t have to worry about having to reconnect all of the time).

You can also connect two other devices using the micro-USB and 3. 5mm aux ports. Buttons on the bottom of the control knob allow you to switch between inputs, and the active input is indicated by a colored LED on the knob.

The system delivers good sound quality, with strengths in the lower end of the audio spectrum giving music a warm and full sound. Bass performance is very good, and I only noticed distortion turning the bass boost to max.

Audiophiles will notice some compromises in the midrange and higher frequencies, but, once again, the speakers perform well at the price point, and I think most users will be satisfied with the sound quality of the system.

One of the standout features is the wireless control knob which really increases the versatility of this system. Although marketed primarily as a computer speaker system, the additional inputs would also allow it to be used a a mini-home theatre system and controlled from the couch.

The controller works well, with satisfying tactile feedback for adjusting the volume and useful click gestures for controlling audio. Sound performance was well-balanced for movies, with clear dialogue amid sound effects, with the latter often coming off as overwhelming in action films.

Although this comes down to personal taste, there’s nothing particularly noteworthy about the design of speakers. They are rounded, but they still look and feel big and boxy to me and clash with the modern aesthetic of my thin bordered monitor.

Additionally, the down firing subwoofer is exposed and close to the bottom of the box (not a problem once it’s in position), but I did accidentally put my fingers on the cone when I went to move it. The only minor issue I encountered was when I plugged the system into my power strip (along with my monitor, computer, and USB hub), the subwoofer kept cracking/popping during audio playback.

A Google search led me to believe this was some kind of electrical interference. I then switch the subwoofer plug to an outlet by itself, and it resolved the problem.

I bought these for my daughter’s computer. I have used Monoprice cables in my recording studio. They are better quality than other brands and yet cost about 1/4 the price. So I suspected these speakers would be excellent.

I was spot on. They sound great! Mids and highs are crystal clear. As soon as we hooked it up to the computer and did a speaker check, I knew they were good. For fun, we put on the opening scene of Star Wars and we could hear R2-D2’s digital blips very clearly.

No noise on standby. These speakers are fairly heavy and feel professional. I actually think they do not color the sound much. I am a professional music producer in Los Angeles. Now that I have heard these, I am going to buy a 2nd pair for my recording studio to test my masters (in addition to using my professional near-field reference monitors).

I like the small size and mono-amp configuration, which makes them perfect for testing – as most people these days listen to music on mono-amp small speakers (on their smart phones).

I put these speakers through a few different tests, and they were great for all of them. These would work great for a turntable setup. Vinyl records sound rich and warm just like you’d want them too.

This is originally what I bought the speakers for, so I am satisfied with my purchase. Hooked up to a computer, music and movies sound great. They are pretty well balanced, so dialogue is clear amongst loud action.

These speakers stood out to me though for gaming. They provide a wide enough sound stage to immerse you in games without having to wear headphones for hours at a time. I tested them specifically in Star Wars: Battlefront 2, and the experience was great.

Overall, I would recommend these speakers to anyone that needs a great set of speakers for under $100 that pack quite the punch for the money.

These have an extremely noticeable peak at around 126Hz. If I’m listening to something at normal volume, it can suddenly get uncomfortably loud when this resonance is excited. It’s like listening to a neighbor watching TV through a thin wall.

Fiddling around with a software equalizer, attenuating a 10Hz wide band around 126Hz by 9dB makes a swept tone sound correct to my ear (that is, loudness monotonically decreases as the sweep approaches 75Hz).

Another small issue I’ve noticed is that there is a barely audible 60hz hum that gets worse when the volume knob is turned down. With the volume knob at max, the hum goes away. It also goes away if I disconnect the secondary speaker from the primary one.

Great sound for computer speakers but the open Bluetooth made me disconnect them. I have neighbors connect at random times and force me to turn off it. Also, it goes to sleep mode automatically and you cannot disable that which is also a big letdown.

If you are away from your PC and you wait for a notification sound, you are out of luck. Its a shame that software issues make this product unusable. This is probably never going to be fixed and the problem is you do not know that until you buy it and its too late.

NEVER BUY if you don’t live in a rural area. anyone can connect to the Bluetooth and blast music at you and there is no way to restrict or turn off Bluetooth. it scares the hell out of my family at all sorts of hours (like the middle of the night) when someone connects after i forget to turn it off when not in use.

it can also play Bluetooth audio and wired at the same time which i thought was great until while using them people connect to the speaker and i hear their music/tv/static. worst part is with no control panel for the Bluetooth once they connect i have to turn them off and hope the stranger connects their media to the proper speakers.

if they don’t then when i turn them back on it will auto connect to the strangers media again. i called their tech support and they were clueless about the model and after holding for 30 min and talking for another 30 they said they don’t know and i would have to email their engineering dept.

Exceptional sound and great design! The range on them is not great, they hold the connection but the music starts getting choppy if you in another room, even when being near them just blocking them with your body.

Not okay by todays standard, but these where released 2012 so you can’t really blame them for that. (why Harman Kardon hasn’t updated the bluetooth in all these years I don’t know, since they still seem to be in production.

(?)) Now for the big issue that makes these great and beautiful speakers, that could’ve been perfect, unreliable and a chore to use! The Bluetooth is not protected via password or has a manually entered pairing mode, in other words, as soon as you turn them on they are in pairing mode (!) which means that anyone in range can connect to them.

It’s insane how they didn’t think of this. This has happened to me, I disconnected from the speakers and went to bed only to be woken up at 6 am by the neighbors kids blasting russian Spongebob Squarepants through my speakers.

I turns out that their TV automatically connects to available bluetooth sources and since the Soundsticks always is in pairing mode their tv will always connect whenever a spot is open. Sure, I can spend several minutes spamming the on/off button, hoping to connect to it first.

Kinda kills the joy of using them. And the Bluetooth has higher priority than the audio jack, so no luck in that compartment. I’ve thought about opening them up and desolder the BT-module but haven’t got around to it.

So if you live in a house, go for it. Great sound and design.

I think this is a great speaker overall, in terms of portability, sound, and value. I have bought about 8 Sonos speakers in the last 2 years – including One’s, 2 Beams, 2 Play:3 (now discontinued). The Move is an interesting device because it can effectively replace the One’s or Play:3 – I think it actually sounds better than either of these devices: Louder, more room-filling, with richer bass.

Of course, a single Move can’t replace a surround sound setup (I have a Beam plus 2 One’s in my living room); but if you have a whole home setup, you won’t really notice the difference with a Move being the main speaker in a secondary room.

The portability aspect of it basically allows you to have 1 device for 2 different areas in the home – the permanent dock serves the room where you use it the most, but you can still carry the Move into a sporadic-use area (like the backyard or bathroom) whenever you’d like.

So even at its inflated price point of $399, I would still consider it a better value than buying 2 One’s – you’re getting better sound plus portability (which you wouldn’t get by purchasing 2 standalone One’s).

I actually bought my Move during Sonos’ 20% off summer sale, which makes this an easy purchase. If you’re just starting out with the Sonos system, really think about how you’d use the speakers, how you would setup in the home, and strongly consider this device vs getting multiple One’s – I think you might be surprised by the versatility of the Move.

We’ve been using a 1st Gen Echo ever since it came out. I found a charging base for it, which made it portable for our outdoor patio, but over the years, the sound has diminished greatly (and in reality, the sound was never something I applauded).

I have 2 other Echo speakers with screens, which I enjoy, but they are not portable and have to be plugged in at all times. It got to a point where I began researching new options, realizing we needed something new, and definitely something portable.

It really came down to a BOSE unit and the SONOS Move. When I saw them both side by side, I was a little surprised how small the BOSE speaker was. When I compared the sound, the choice was pretty clear for me – SONOS Move was going to be my new baby, and purchased it, wrapped it up, put it under the tree, and addressed it to “the house”, from Santa.

My wife was not initially very happy, even though she was the one who continuously said we needed something new for music. Even when I unboxed it, she was mostly concerned with how much “Santa” spent on it.

Well, let’s just say that once I played some tunes, her thoughts changed, and the more we play it, the more she’s impressed. For me, it’s nothing short of awesome. I haven’t had a sound system in the last 15 years (other than sound bars for the TV’s) and I must have forgotten how good music can sound.

The deep, rich bass, the solid mid range, and of course, the high end treble. But it’s much more, really, as I now pick up things I haven’t heard in so many years. Different instruments, sounds, clarity.

Overall richness. It’s just great. I love the simple yet oh so effective charging system. So easy to pick it up and bring it outside, then drop it back down on the charging ring. Absolutely love it. The Move is obviously a little big and heavy to bring on trips that require a flight, but when we drive somewhere, it’s coming along for the ride.

Love the fact that I have both wifi and Bluetooth. Very impressed.

If you are already invested into the Sonos ecosystem, this speaker is a no brainer. I’ve owned many of the JBL portable speakers over the years and was hesitant to spend this much on a portable speaker.

However, it’s Sonos and they are known for superior sound quality and functionality. Once the speakers was delivered and tested, I had no problem with how expensive it was. Pros: The battery life is fantastic.

I’m getting over 10 hours between charges. The bass is very impressive for a speaker of its size. The mids and highs are just right. You also can adjust all of the EQ settings as well as automatic trueplay in the app just like their other speakers.

Just like their other speakers, when at home on wifi, you can sync it to your other Sonos speakers. Take this speaker outside in the backyard and keep your whole home audio synced up. It also has Bluetooth so you can still connect to it via Bluetooth when taking it with you away from home.

It also has Alexa, Google Home and the new Sonos Voice features. These work flawlessly. Charging was well thought out. It comes with a ring stand with plug that it sits on when not carrying around. It stays on like all other Sonos speakers when on the ring.

When off the ring, it will power itself off after about 15 mins of no audio playing to conserve battery power. If you are away, it has a USB C port that you can use to charge it or leave plugged in when away from the ring base when needed.

Cons: At this point, I’ve yet to come across a single con. If I had to nit pick about anything, I would say that the wire from the base to the plug isn’t removable so if the wire were to break for whatever reason, the whole base needs to be replaced.

I say this is minor because technically, the base isn’t necessary for charging since there is also a USB C port as an option as well. Over all, if anything ever happened to this speaker, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase it again unless they release a new version of it by that time.

The sound is just crazy good as is most of Sonos speakers. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. You will not be disappointed in it.
