ordered pool thermometer 05/29/2020 received 06/07/2020. like the pocket idea. very unhappy. thermometer does not sink. painted degree markings are coming off. degree increments are not highlited and very difficult to read.

I love this thermometer because it doesn’t float. I don’t want to know the temperature of the surface of the water, I want to know what the temp is at 3-4 ft. down. I’m still not convinced of this thermometer’s accuracy (much less any other thermometer).

I think it runs about 2-4* higher than what the real temp is. The thermometer could have/should have come with a much longer rope to submerge it in the water.

prior thermometer concistently measured 4-5 degrees low. Pocket reservoir more accurate. Addition of reservoir helpful since pool water remains in contact with thermometer while reading, especially in direct sun.

On our second one. the first lasted approximately 5 weeks before the staples which hold the glass thermometer in place rusted and failed. Tried to contact the company for warranty overage. ZERO response.

Ordered the second because I liked the design and thought that the company could make things right. Very disappointed. as the warranty was a factor in our initial decision to purchase.

Pay a little more for something of substance. I had cheap thermometers that broke easily. So far this one seems to be sturdy and keeps the right temp of the water

The thermometer is held in place with steel wire that rusted causing the glass part to come loose. The securing device should be made of a material that is not effected by the pool water.

I recently purchased this for our granddaughter’s above ground pool. She loves watching it float around and the temperature gauge seems accurate. I would certainly recommend!

This is a really easy to read thermometer, the numbers are easy to see, I have had others that were hard to read because the numbers where so small and crammed together. I would diffidently recommend this surfin shark thermometer.

Pay attention to the reviews! The information provided about the batteries is incorrect. It requires two AA batteries and two AAA batteries, not four AA batteries. I’m glad I checked the reviews before mine arrived in the mail.

It seems to be working nicely. It’s nice to be able to see the temperature digitally because my thermostat looks like it’s from the first age of thermostats and I couldn’t tell what the temperature was.

Purchased LA Crosse expecting more quality Dislike Outdoor sensor and indoor sensor/display temperature readings very in accuracy even when both sensors are sitting side by side 2 inches apart. Temps reading very from 1.

0 degree to 0. 1 degrees. Right now as I type it has varied 0. 6 to 0. 7 and later, not the accuracy I expected from La Crosse. Instructions say it clears its high/low reading every 24 hours. Like as published 2 year battery life if it happens.

I have owned a number of La Cross weather stations over the years and they all were pretty accurate. I bought this inexpensive one just to know what the temp was on my apartment patio. Actual temperature on my patio, even with the sun shining on it, is in the 30’s.

I know that because I can see my breath. This thing is reading in the mid to high 40’s. no matter where I place it out of direct sunlight. Unit isn’t worth buying.

I wanted this for the winter with outside temps really cold in the teens and even going down around zero, I need this to keep tabs on the outside temp to know when I will need to run water to keep pipes from freezing.

The station works best at eye level or slightly below for brightness of backlight. I prop mine so its not leaning back but standing straight up. The clock, date , inside and outside are all different colors and bright.

, plus the numbers are large expecially the outside numbers which interest me most. Also this thing is accurate hitting right on the local intellicast readings exact or maybe off 1 degree. But it does only stay lit when you plug in the adaptor, if you use just batteries then you hit the light button and its on for 10 sec.

The station sits at one angle only and I would like to see them make it adjustable.

Six months into use the indoor station is unable synchronize with the outdoor sensor. Nothing works, including re-setting the unit. On LaCrosse website they reccomend to install ” Brand Name Alkaline battery dated at least 7 years in advance (super, ultra, max, heavy duty and rechargeable types should be avoided).

” Considering that the batteries do not last more than a couple of months, and uses 2 AA for the sensor and another 2 AA for the indoor unit, this does not make sense. Why the design a unit that cannot use regular rechargeable batteries is beyond me! On top of that the LCD display of the indoor station is barely visible when using battery power alone, so but default it requires that you keep it plug (near an outlet) all the time.

If these two issues are fixed this could be a nice unit.

Purchased for little old lady next door. She’s thrilled. She says she has no problem seeing the numbers. And that it gives her just the facts!

perfect replacement for a 25 year old temperature gauge. No issues. I used Teflon tape around the threads. No leaks. FYI. if there is water in the pipe. like from a roof mounted solar panel. water may come gushing out with great force.

so ask a second person to standby to plug the hole with their hand. Oh, and don’t stand directly in front unless you want to get wet. like it never happened to me.

Swapping the old thermometer for the new one was very easy.

Very nice. I wanted a unit that did not need to be plugged into an outlet. This works well and is quite readable within the room under most conditions. The inside and outside temperatures match well with other home thermometers and with the internet weather reports.

I purchased two. One is in my Guinea coop and the other in my feral cat house. I can monitor the temperature at all times.

I wanted a device that would give minimum/maximum readings like the last one I got from you So I am disappointed in the new one

Excellent thermometer for the money. Reads within 0. 5C of a digital probe across the range. String is shorter than a metre, but easily extended, making it useful for checking open water temperature from dry land.

Easy to read in the water. Could do with a longer cord attached though but that’s easily sorted. Highly recommend

I compared the Derby Duck thermometer against an accurate laboratory thermometer and it was off by three degrees. In my opinion, that is a pretty significant inaccuracy. I guess I will have to add three degrees every time I take a measurement.

On a positive note, it is cute.

For the price this works great. My goodness of course you have to replace it every year! Who cares it is so inexpensive. It is cute and it is accurate, for that price I would replace it twice a year but it does last the entire summer.

I’m not sure if this product is even accurate! It does not go deep enough to under the water to get an accurate read in my opinion. My pool is about 4 feet deep and the top 6 inches of water is much warmer then the bottom.

So when reading the temp you think the water is pretty warm but once you step into the pool it clearly is much cooler! I would not purchase this product again.

Excellent, accurate digital thermometer & clock. The WS-9160U-IT accepts input from 3 external sensors in addition to the indoors temperature, which allows me to monitor 3 floors indoors, plus the outdoors temperature from receivers I have on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

Easy to pair the units too. You just put the AA batteries in the sensor (transmitter), then put the AAA batteries in the receiver. If you have additional sensors, just put the batteries in the 2nd sensor once the first one shows up, and then into the third after the second one shows up.

Keep them together for 15 minutes so they can establish their sync patterns, then place them where you want them. Then you just press the Channel (“CH”) button to chose which sensor you want to see the reading from while the “indoors” temperature indicates the temperature in the room the base unit (with the LCD screen) is located in.

Range is over 100 yards (300 feet). These are great. !.

This was a gift for a low-tech person. I thought I had ordered one just like I had, but this was slightly different. I was disappointed at first that it didn’t have an atomic clock (and still am), and in the fewer items on the display than my own thermometer had.

But for the person who got this, I think this is almost perfect, because it’s easy to read and does the job without having to fiddle much with buttons, settings, and so on. Also this model has the buttons on the front panel, and mine has the buttons on the back.

This means I have to pick mine up to check features like channels, max/min, etc. So this one turned out to be a better choice for that person. It has a stand to use if you want to put it on a shelf, or can be hung up.

These seem to be pretty accurate, too. I had the idea of putting the remote sensor under the floor or in outbuildings to monitor the temp, especially in freezing or very hot weather. A very handy thing.

Purchased two (2) systems. When energized with proper batteries, one system took 6 hours to display equal temps with the outside temp sensor and the inside sensor sitting side by side. Further analysis prior to placing these in service – Temps are showing 2 to 3 degrees difference sitting side by side.

I wish to have a system that displays the accurate temp to the one degree!!! This system does NOT meet that requirement. Additionally, I believed from the Walmart website display that I had ordered a system with different channels available for the outside transmitter.

This is GREAT! I can’t wait till I open my pool to use it! Of course, I couldn’t wait to I tested it in the bathtub. Would be great if you have a little one as well–to test the waters before a bath!

Great little pool thermometer, I like that the polar bear is large enough that it wont get caught in the filter intake. And the kids love it!

We looked all over for this thermometer because the one we have oxidized so much it wasn’t cute anymore. We were so happy to find it online through the Wal-Mart website. He is in the pool and already looks right at home.

We’ll probably just go ahead and order another one while they are still available because they are so cool. By the way, I can also tell the temperature of my pool, but that is a secondary function!!!.

There is no bite to this shark. He just looks super cute with his sunglasses and does his job. He floats perfectly, resting atop the water while his thermometer checks the water temperature. He is too cool for school while making sure that your pool is not too cool for you.

Thought it would be helpful to know the temperature of the water before getting in the pool. But unfortunately, it’s not even close to accurate. It’s just cute.

I’ve had this for about 6 months. It is really easy to set up and use, you can select different cuts and automatically gives you a cooking temperature. I use it on a smoker, can monitor the internal temp and how the meat is going and get notifications when coming up to your set temp for the BBQ and meat.

However the Bluetooth range is absolute rubbish. I need to sit my phone at the back door about 5m from the BBQ and the notifications are constantly going off on my phone that I’ve lost the Bluetooth connection, this drives my family nuts.

I’ve tried all sorts of things to stop this, it just has rubbish Bluetooth range. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on a Wi-Fi version. Until someone invents a Bluetooth booster I’d avoid this one.

I had the same experience as Clark61 (21 days ago). The probes worked great the first few times. Then, suddenly, the temperature was 161, 247, 386, and climbing — within seconds. It seems that when flames lick the back of the probe, the tip is no longer reliable.

This was the case for two different probes at two different times. Replacements are $18, but the iGrill is useless without them. Compared to the quality of the Genesis II grill itself, which has been astonishingly good, the quality of the probes is disappointing.

Trying to decide whether to replace the probes, or to cut my losses and admit that I purchased a good idea, poorly executed.

As someone who lives in the midwest, the amount of grilling I do fluctuates widely, so even though I’ve had my Connect for a while, it hasn’t gotten a ton of use. I’ve maybe used it ten times. Generally its worked well.

Then, tonight, I was slow cooking a lamb shank. All was going well until it got to about 125 degrees and then the probe freaked out. It started reading as high as 375 and then would drop to 119 and then bounce back.

I would adjust the position and it would level out, but then a minute or two later it would freak out again. I finally pulled it and switched to an instant read thermometer to finish my grill. Now the probe won’t read at all.

I’d expect the probe to last longer than 10 uses.

I just received this device and started using it a few days ago, so I cannot opine on the longer term reliability. I am about to buy another sensor so I can have a few points of measurement. I am using this device to monitor the temp and humidity of our conditioned crawl space of our house.

So far I have the first sensor located in the farthest spot in the crawl space from the display (2500 sq ft crawl space) and everything seems to be working communications wise. When I received the unit, I charged the sensor and powered it on to sit right next to the display to see if there was any difference between what the display was recording and the sensor.

It appears the remote sensor reports a few degrees F higher than the display pretty consistently. The RH was within 1% most of the time and I suspect the difference in reported RH was likely due to the temperature reporting error of the remote sensor (the display unit jives exactly with our Honeywell home thermostat in the interior living space for both Temp and RH).

I will update my impressions after I have had some time to gauge it’s longer term reliability, but for now, this device seems to be the answer to my needs of monitoring ambient condition in my crawl space (critical to us as we had some mold issues early on until we got out conditioned crawl space systems dialed).

Update to above review: I ordered two more TX4 sensors, so I could have a total of three monitoring our crawl space temp and humidity. The two new sensors report temps and humidity almost identical to the display unit (< 1 degree temp and never more than 1% humidity difference to our Honeywell home thermostat).

Very pleased so far with this product.

I have the remote sensor on the side of the building under a deck, and the monitor unit on my fridge – I used to put a previous one on a shelf above the remote because it didn’t like the further distance, but this one allowed me to use the magnet feature and go to the fridge.

The new one’s easy to read and light up, and gives humidity as well as temperature inside and out. The only problem is the manual, and I had to get replacement remotes twice (free) and a replacement whole unit once (because I forgot where I’d bought the first) before I made it work.

The manual tells you how to install it, and later tells you to fully charge the remote first. I didn’t read that far, and the first remote died in about 15 months, and couldn’t be re-charged. When I bought a new one, I found that section of the manual and couldn’t find a picture or description of how to get the included charger cord attached to the the remote.

There is a shaped rubber pad on top of the insert chamber, which has a metal strip in it that bounced out as I pried the pad off. What I should have done was simply lift up the part of the pad that covered the chamber, and inserted the cord directly.

When I pulled off the whole thing, there was no way to get the metal strip back in place and the cord to stay in. I have asked that they give clearer directions – and before they say how to set up the whole installation.

The thermometer itself is tterrific.

I was impressed with how well this little champ stays connected with the remote sensor all the way through my stucco walls. The sensor is about 50′ away in the arroyo behind our casa. I still give it 5 stars, because I am generally so happy with it.

The only negative is that it can be hard to read in low-light from across the room. It does have a back-light feature, but as best I can figure – you have to touch the little light button at the bottom of the unit to ignite the back-light and it turns itself off after a minute or so.

Also of interest to some people: the indoor unit utilizes batteries. The outdoor sensor has a rechargeable lithium battery and requires a charge inside, while plugged into a standard phone charger with the included USB cable.

Moral of this story: place the outdoor sensor in a spot it is relatively easy to retrieve for your periodic recharging efforts. It’s been running for several days now with no problems. It will be interesting to see how many weeks/ months I manage to get before I have to bring it in for a re-charge.

I use this in my autoshop for AC work. With the sensor in the cars vent and the display on my toolbox it will SOMETIMES lose signal as if it’s out of distance, maybe 12 ft. The LCD is kind of crappy where you have to hold it at a certain angle where it’s aimed at your line if vision to clearly read the info.

I be noticed since the first time I turned it on even with the display and sensor NEXT to each other they there is a variance in temperature reading by 2 degrees or so.

Kind of disappointed. Power probe makes a decent power probe, but this unit is kind of cheap. Not super accurate. at least mines not. 4°off while coupled together. But I just use it for a/c and heating in vehicles as a means to prove my repairs or not needing to repair.

I work on RV’s and these things are so nice. People complain about roof AC units not working and between this and an Amp Clamp, you can diagnose them in minutes with definitive results. Some people leave bad reviews complaining about the range but I work on all makes and models of RV’s and they work great for me.

Cheaper than on the truck and the same tool!.

Had one of these for 4 years before it finally fell apart. We used it in the spa and in the pool so basically all year round so really can’t fault it. I think the heat of the spa pool may have broken down the glue.

I’ll be getting another one this summer. Seems to be fairly accurate unless direct sunlight is falling on it – certainly the set spa temperature and the thermometer matched very closely.

Needed one after 8 years of our pool shop purchase. This works very well and I love how it’s so easy to read.

Not accurate. Isn’t that the point? Compared accuracy to several other thermometers and it consistently came in higher. Next.

Very good. Reasonable price. We tie it to swim ladder so it hangs down approx 2 feet into pool water, deep end. Only issue is it is not heavy enough to stay down. Solved by clamping a small fishing sinker at the end of rope just above the thermometer.

We had this barely a week and it broke. Piece of junk
