20 Best Womens Tri Shorts (2022 Updated)

I bought these for lap swim practice hoping they would stand chlorine better than the “cheap” shorts. So far so good. The shorts fit true to size and fit as tri shorts should, they come up high enough in the back so I’m not always having to pull them up while swimming.

The pad is thin and comfortable. Very happy with these shorts and will buy another pair.

The fit is great and the pads are very comfortable. Zoot makes really good tri shorts.

My last pair is over 2yr old. It was amazing to het another pair. The strength of the sewing is amazing, no holes or any part coming apart. I just wanted afresh pair.

Fit is small. I’m a bit oddly proportioned (by the Tyr sizing chart, my hip size is between M and L, and my waist size is XL). When I tried the shorts in L, I couldn’t even get them over my thighs/hips (weird b/c those body parts are not that big), but the XL fits perfectly.

They hug the legs & waist snugly. I didn’t need to think about them during my race b/c they felt natural for all 3 disciplines. (It was a sprint distance, so not sure how they’d feel after a longer time on the bike, but I think they’d feel good swimming or running whatever the distance.

).

Lots of chamois where I don’t need it, high in the front. None where I do need it, under my sit bones. Very uncomfortable ride, chafing, blisters, unmentionable problems. Also they run a size or two small, so order big or you’ll be returning them before you say ouch.

First off let me say these appear to be well made shorts. Unfortunately I am 5’11” with a 33″ inseam. 9″ inseam on these shorts are to short for serious distance rides. The bottom of the legs hit my thigh about midway, giving compression to half my quads.

The pad is a bit narrow, and stitching isn’t a flat seam, so I get irritation sooner than higher quality shorts. I am an avid cyclist and prefer tri cycling shorts over conventional cycling shorts. I’ve noticed over the last couple of years the legs on short have gotten shorter, sad.

I loved my shorts. I’m 5’6, 165lbs and they were a dream. They fit right at my belly button and weren’t too tight on my legs or bum. I swam in them then bikes and felt incredibly comfortable the whole time.

I also crashed on the bike and slide on pavement and these shorts held up perfectly – no scratches or road rash. They stayed in place the whole time and didn’t have to pull them at all.

I like them! Only tried them once – you send these emails awfully early. I’m still getting used to the grip on the inside – when putting the wetsuit on, it grabbed my leg hair. Also, was advised to get XL with my 90cm waist, but I think they might be a tiny little bit large.

Not causing issues yet, but we’ll see after the next race.

The short is great, way different than the prior version. There is no more compression. The pad is better quality from the compression version (previous 3 years model). But it will loose it thickness rapidly.

BTW I own 3 pairs of the new model.

Bought these to wear for my 1st sprint tri. Have gone for a few open swims in them and they’ve held up great. They wash well and haven’t lost elasticity or color. They stayed on without any slippage.

Only thing – they run SMALL. I usually wear a size small (I’m 5feet 116 lbs), so bought a medium just in case. Had to return for a large. Returns were easy. I’ve also gone in a run with them and they didn’t ride up.

I ordered the wrong size (I was probably on the upper end of the L and should have got the XL) but if I didn’t have such chonky legs (I’m 6’2 96kg) they’d be mint. The padding isn’t annoying. It was fine for a 40km ride.

These are my favorite new riding shorts! They’re ultra-light and comfy enough that even a 2 hour ride in the heat isn’t an issue. Also, the large back pocket is awesome and just barely big enough for me to fit my Samsung s20+ if I need to.

I actually got 3 of these shorts they’re so nice and comfortable.

I must say I am very pleased with this cycling pant. I saw no fitting issues with the XL pant I purchased. Really like the stair stepping sit pad in the pants and also how the thinner pad is a lot wider than my pants in the past.

It’s been several years of finding a good pant to fit this larger body. The non-draw string is not an issue with me as for others that have reviewed this pant. Also, I am pleased that the company, Aero Tech is regional to where I live and the merchandise is made in USA.

The only negative I found is I was expecting the pants to made of heavier material being an 8 panel pant. I have waited to give my review because I wanted to see how these cycling pants held up after a washing and they are fine, all intact! So, in closing I have plans in the near future to purchase another 2 pairs and hope to get a few good years of riding out of them.

The sell price is great for an eight panel riding shorts. They fit nicely, look good, and fell confortable. I’ve ridden two 20 mile rides and seem to have a little problem. It is almost like the padding should have been moved to the back about half an inch.

The rear part of the padding just cover my sit bones so that is confortable. However, the front part of the crouch area has to much material bunched up that it cause chaffing. Moving the padding back a little would give more sitting support and less material up front.

Maybe a few more rides they will feel better.

I recently bought a new Trek Verve 2 at the ripe young age of 54 to help improve my overall health. After a couple of weeks in the saddle that came with the bike, I decided I needed something between me and the seat.

Enter the Aerotech brand and the padded liner shorts. I put them on and tried them out a few times. I like the padding that helps to save my naughty bits, but it feels strange. I have noticed that I can sit in the saddle for a longer ride, and it helps with moisture wicking.

Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and need a little longer to evaluate before I confirm these to be a 5-star item.

I ordered a small fortune in kit this year. Basically the kit is made with a transparent material without privacy screens in this parts. So every time you stretch the fabric going aero you are just riding with another layer of tinted flesh.

The sizing is ridiculous and the charts are a bit outdated as they seem to be fits for our shorter and thinner homosapien species from the mid 19th century. Size up and size up often when ordering.

Purchased these to go with the Castelli Free Tri Top I’d also purchased, mainly as I thought it would be good to have the option of a pair of jammers for warmer triathlons and then add the shirt at Transition.

So the good points: Comfortable on all my rides runs and rides so far – the fact this is the only good point doesn’t bode well for the rest of this review. Bad points: Sizing is a mess, in order to get the right waist size I’ve ended up with very baggy shorts around the thighs.

which is impressive as I’ve got big legs. so I cannot imagine what body shape these were tailored for? Secondly the lack of a waist tightening/fastening system means that on their own these are useless for swimming, any sudden adjustment of direction of speed and the shorts start to work their way down – unless your wearing the previously mentioned tri top, which has some proprietary connectors to hold the shorts/jersey in place – which aren’t the most secure in the world to be honest.

All in all, just about usable for training, I certainly wouldn’t race in these – I suspect I would find them to be an annoyance. In its place I would recommend the Castelli Free Sanremo Trisuit – that’s a great piece of kit and only slightly more expensive than buying the jersey and shorts separately.

I bought the Castelli Free tri short and didn’t know what to expect. Sometimes reviews can be misleading. So what did I learn after a month. Very comfortable, really great to run in! Struggled a little after 2 hours on the bike but to be honest, I’m not sure that my saddle is the most comfortable.

I think the shorts are one of the best purchases I’ve ever made! Not much more to say really.

Brought two pairs of these shorts. But am finding that they are quite big in the body part of them. Leg length and width is perfect. Maybe they’re made for females with a larger bottom region than mine.

I am training for my first tri so this is my first time purchasing tri shorts. I am very happy with the fit, the shorts are long enough and they dont ride up. The padding is sufficient for the bike and not too thick for running in.

The fabric is quick drying. I feel ready for the race with these shorts.

Love these shorts I am a very active mum who goes from running to bike riding to swimming to boxing to crossfit and back again at any given time. They are super comfy the crutch padding is very discreet and I love the elastic legs so there is no creeping up when running and these shorts are definitely squat proof too.

They were very uncomfortable. They itched along to seams on the inside to a ridiculous degree. I sent them back yesterday. Please credit my account. Very disappointed.

These shorts were just what I was looking for. I am now in my 70s and still ride three times a week. I have what my sister calls “old man’s butt” and I found I needed more padding. I wear these shorts underneath my regular bike shorts and they really help.

I really like the compression products. I now have a large collection of them, about a dozen in total, a mixture of the Ignition, Motion, and Force product lines in both the shorts and tights versions.

I don’t know if there aren’t a lot of us that buy this much, but its really hard telling them apart and I have to dig through all of them and try to feel the fabric or take them out to visually see which one’s which, and even then sometimes its hard with regards to the Ignition one where its a subtle difference in texture and thickness.

I think it would be great to have a visually distinct design to each line, or a small logo that’s different for each, even just maybe a different waistband in some way (color, design, etc. ); that way they can be folded small in a drawer and its still easy to pick out exactly what I’m looking for in a given day.

I have worn these for a couple of runs and so far, no problems. There is no drawstring on the waistband which is always a bit of a concern to me in case the material stretches or loses shape and they become too baggy.

They are a long length on the thigh so there is more chance for the compression to be beneficial. They aren’t the tightest compression clothes I have worn but I definitely felt like they were ‘heavier’ when I was wearing them.

I would recommend wearing them for training as oppose to racing when you might want something lighter and more flexible.

I’ve loved 2XU for a while now! These are my first purchase in black with the logo in Nero and WOW THEY LOOK FANTASTIC!!! The quality of the material and design is incredible. I’m a natural bodybuilder and i’ll be wearing these for all of my gym training.

A very **** looking pair of shorts – highly recommended! I’ll be staying with 2XU! My next purchase will be the Force compression tights for heavy leg training.

This is a super comfy shorts that has thinner cushioning in the pad. This is my second pair and I use them for 25 mile and under rides or for winter riding over a pair of base-layer tights. Great in the summer because they are so light weight and less sweaty.

Used this for a 20 mile bike ride and held up well. No chaffing and material was breathable. Great elastic band on the waist, it holds everything in place. Will consider getting a second pair since it’s a great deal.

Bought S, normally an M, but S was biggest size left on sale and figured it was stretchy. Fit perfectly, rides down a touch. Good subtle padding.

Very comfortable shorts but does run a little larger than previous tri shorts purchased here. Would buy again though

I’ve recently begun using my indoor trainer a lot more in a bid to get in shape and stay cool in this summer heat. I noticed right away that my liner shorts weren’t doing enough and opted to try these as an alternative.

Focus points on these shorts: – Grippy elastic on the leg openings, quite tight while not being restrictive, you shouldn’t find movement there. – Longer than typical in the leg. Haven’t measured, but several inches longer than the average short or bibshort there.

Hits just above the knee for me and I do not have short legs. – Haven’t noticed them dragging down over time, though the front will roll if you’re carry anything out there. Not a big issue. – Chamois feels like a good value for money.

It’s not extraordinary, but neither is the price. It gave me the added comfort that I needed. Please note that cycling on a trainer vs in the real world puts much more strain on the behind, so I’m sure the experience is better outside of my garage.

Really happy and will probably get another pair eventually!.

Nice quality and features and fits me well. I’m 5’9″ 165 lb with a 33″ cycling inseam and find the large to be perfect, nicely snug without excessive compression. The straps are flat laser-cut fabric that I don’t feel at all when underway.

The inseam is fashionably long and have the right fit a few inches above knee. The chamois is seamless and has a good density and thickness. Fabric is a little heavier and tougher than many other bibs, which I like for abrasion and snag resistance and overall durability.

The side pockets are made of the same material rather than mesh as found on many other cargo bibs. I find mesh can snag and tear more easily. They also have a gusseted bottom for better fit when there are items in them.

I tried the Rapha bibs from REI and the large were way small. They fit my 5’6″ 130 lb wife well so she kept then. I then tried Rapha XL and they were still way too tight on me so I returned them. Too much compression and straps pulled on my shoulders.

The two (BIG) issues I have with these shorts are: 1) Like another reviewer, I had to check multiple times that these were in fact men’s shorts and not women’s. There is absolutely zero accommodation up front! They might fit a eunuch, but not an adult male without severe compression.

Have never had this a pair of cycling shorts before. Not ergonomic at all. 2) The chamois is comically large with a terribly crude sewing pattern that is causing me a lot of chaffing at the edges of the stitching, especially up front at the top of each leg.

I rarely, if ever review products, but I’m so dissatisfied with these shorts that I just had to in this case. It looks like the construction of these shorts has changed in the last year or so because most older reviews are good, and many recent ones are not.

Theses are terrific bibs. I’ve tried numerous bib brands over the decades, with Giordana FRC being my previous favorite – until they changed the cut several years ago. I’ve been on a quest to find a comfortable bib short since then, with no luck.

I have a muscular, athletic build and usually find women’s sizing too large in the waist and too tight in the quads. I tried the Pearl Izumi (non-pro) bibs and found them unsupportive with a pad that felt like I was wearing a diaper.

Not so with these bibs! The pad is thin, which I prefer, with just the right amount of comfort. The material is soft, but surprisingly supportive. The waist is high in the front, which adds support. The straps are soft, don’t dig in, and are long enough for my longish torso.

The legs are long and held in place with a silicon bead on a lazer cut edge. Really comfortable! The side pockets are a nice touch to hold a gel or chapstick. Rode a rugged 20 mile mtb in these bibs yesterday.

I wish I could afford another pair!.

The Sugar short were my favorite shorts due to the shorter length and the fit. The pad is minimal so know that but I prefer a thinner pad so they have always worked for me. I have always worn size small so ordered small but they were TINY! I mean like you’d have to be a skinny pre-teenag tiny! I returned them and ordered a medium.

I am not sure what changed but they are NOT comfortable in that I feel like I’m in a sausage casing! The legs are tight and squeeze the skin to the point I didn’t know I had cellulite but it definitely creates it with how tight they are.

I do like the high waist and it didn’t dig in at all which was nice. I am stuck with them unfortunately as I wore them and they didn’t work out. I’m not the person who returns worn items, especially bike shorts.

I wish they hadn’t changed whatever design they had previously as it’s almost impossible to find a short length bike short.

Top quality cycling short. The fabric gives good support. I like the invisible padding. The waist needs to be an inch higher on the front tummy. I wish that the elastic waistband had a bit more stretch and not so tight around my waist.

It is a bit uncomfortable as other customers have commented. Going up a size would be too big elsewhere. These are still my favorite shorts. The length is perfect. Please make the waistband elastic more forgiving and stretchy on future shorts and a bit higher at the front.

My first bib, so hard to say as I can’t compare to others. But I like it so far. For sizing, I have the exact same short with Sugoi, they are my fave shorts (RS Pro), that is why I went with this bib.

I tried the large and medium for this bib. I wear a large with the shorts. But I’m short, only 5’6” and 34” waist. The large bib is the one still fit me best. It is about 1cm longer towards the knee compared to the large shorts.

The medium bib length felt the same length as my large shorts… but the medium bib was just a tad tight. Hope that helps for shorter people with sizing. Sugoi makes a comfy and quality product.

I bought this short for my tri training and race sessions as well as for my bike solo sessions. Durable material doesn’t lose its shape and it fits always like thi first time i tried it. The cushion pads are very effective and ergonomically arranged so as not to bother you at all during the run.

The short dries fairly quickly giving a sensation of safety. Nevertheless, i find it expensive for what it offers.

Bought these shorts about 2 months ago, wore them for IM Wales and were absolutely fine on all 3 elements. Only slight down side is the padding isn’t enough for anything over 50 miles in the saddle from experience, so obviously perfect for sprint to half IM, but wouldn’t wear again on full IM.

Apart from that slight issue, the shorts are brilliant.

I am a happy long time user of the Louis Garneau Women’s Sprint Tri 7 Inch Shorts which have a very low profile chamois. I was hoping to try another pair of LGs that offer a more substantial chamois for rides longer than 20-30 miles.

The Neo Power shorts weren’t it for me. The chamois felt rock hard and bulky between my legs and would surely cause chafing if worn on a ride. The front of the chamois didn’t feel specific to the female anatomy and didn’t provide any cradling or comfort.

The chamois does have nice channels for ventilation. I wouldn’t swear off Louis garneau shorts altogether but any with this specific chamois just don’t work for me, although we are all built differently! These ran slightly smaller/tighter than my Sprint shorts btw.

I purchased a medium in both. I’m 5’9 130 lbs small waist, big hips, slightly large/muscular thighs. I’m usually a medium in cycling shorts. These felt good around my waist but small in the legs/thighs compared to my sprints which have less compression.

Finally coming back to review these after having them over a year. This is my favorite chamois for mountain biking! The pad has perfect support where it’s needed and is thin and breathable everywhere it’s not.

I had tried several different brands in search of a waist band that didn’t dig into my stomach, and this one has the most comfortable design by far. The material is comfortable, breathable, and stays in place over long rides.

The legs don’t ride up at all, but also don’t leave elastic ring marks around my thighs after a long ride. They’ve stayed in great shape over a year of heavy use.

Started biking last year with a older 1980s road bike with a hard & narrow saddle. As you can imagine it wasn’t very comfortable. Still tried to tolerate riding without shorts, or any padded seating, until one day I rode down a path that was uneven, poorly maintained and full of potholes & cracks.

After the ride the pain and numbness in my perennial area was excruciating and unbearable & it took several days to fully recover. After that I said never again. I immediately started looking at bike shorts and tried these without doing a ton of research.

They worked well and saved my rear end! These make road bikes comfortable and fun to ride. I highly encourage amateur riders to try these, they wont disappoint. In my opinion these work well for rides up to about 30 miles.

50+ mile rides might need some more advanced shorts.
