20 Best Wood For Subfloor (2022 Updated)

Easily installed. Feels good underfoot. Accommodates the bumps and dips of my 70-year old basement floor. I was able to modify the panels for obstructions (e. g. telepost, water meter). Shims functioned as expected.

(I have only one quibble: to accommodate the upcoming carpet installation, I screwed down every other panel along the perimeter, plus the room’s centre panel. Now, whenever I step on the highest area in the floor, the panels there feel ‘squishy,’ as if I hadn’t shimmed them enough.

Maybe, with the increased house humidity of summer, the panels have expanded slightly; and with the perimeter screwed down instead of floating, the floor has buckled upwards ever so slightly. ).

This is the 2nd time I’ve used Dricore products on a basement renovation and I couldn’t be happier. I priced out doing a traditional sleeper, foam board and plywood vs. Dricore and found that it was about 20 cents more per square foot to do Dricore R+.

In my opinion, the time savings alone is well worth going the Dricore route, despite an additional cost. Panels are easy to maneuver, can be laid quickly, can be cut easily, and provide a finished subfloor in a fraction of the time that it would take to do the traditional method for a basement subfloor.

I’ve already noticed a huge difference in how it feels temperature-wise in the basement – especially on some of the cold winter days we had in early January. If I ever do a basement renovation again, I’ll be using this product 100%.

CaliBamboo Customer service is very helpful and was able to assist me in finding a floor i loved. I am very happy with the purchase. I’ve had the install for a couple months. I have notice a couple light scratches here and there but these floors very durable.

I’ve dropped metal tools (nothing very heavy) and didnt see any damage. I’d say my only complaint has more to due with the process of getting the floors and getting the floors installed. They referred me to a company called Installation made easy which paired me up with a local company.

The local company made a few mistakes early in the process but was able to correct them and ultimately did a great job. One of the issues is I wish there was a better way for the two(three if you include IME) to communicate for materials and such.

I ended up having to go with quarter rounds and transition pieces that look similar but not the same as my bamboo to complete the install. Another thing is Id have liked to have suggested to me to have the materials shipped to the installer instead of my location as I ended up having to carry all the boxes with myself and a friend and.

it was quite a days work since each box weighed around 50 lbs. ! ouch Aside from those issues, the project came out great. The floor itself looks really good and I’m very happy with the results.

I am buying again as I find this is a good quick cleaner for wooden furniture around the house (windowsills, painted doors, skirting boards, kitchen cupboards) it even seems to work on painted walls- removing finger prints etc.

I use well diluted in warm water. Love the smell too. I don’t have wooden floors so unable to comment on this one.

I previously used a very expensive alternative which Asda no longer stocks. I thought I would try the Flash version which was much cheaper. It’s a great cleaner, smells nice and does the job.

I bought this whilst on holiday in Clacton. I absolutely love it! It smells good enough to eat! and has encouraged me to do more cleaning! Im having trouble finding this fragrance in my local area. But its the best!.

This was the first time using this underlayment; it’s much sturdier and thicker than some of the other underlayment that I’m accustomed to using. The side that rests on the concrete reminds me of carpet padding, just not as spongy.

The side that the flooring rests on is an orange, rubber-like coating. I did notice a slight odor when rolling out the underlayment; however this smell quickly dissipated within a couple a minutes. I didn’t have problems cutting the material to size or marking with a permanent marker.

I used duct tape to bind the seams together as indicated on the instructions on the back of the roll overall this product met all expectations.

Installed in a loft over a plywood floor. It is definitely quiet and it also provides some forgiveness when the floor is not quite level so it is worth the money. Easy to work with and saves you time in the long run.

When looking for an upgrade for our old black and white checkerboard pattern tile we were surprised to learn that WalMart had many options to choose from. The Melody “Hymn” Laminate Wood flooring we selected is a beautiful wide plank wood laminate with a modern farm house chic white washed oak appearance.

This flooring is designed for use with or without or without an adhesive. It firmly snaps together and can “float” on top of existing hardwood or concrete. We are using a laminate wood flooring adhesive in this instance.

While all boards are the same length it cuts very nicely with a power saw to create random length sections. The wide boards cut down on the number of cuts and the time required to lay down a whole room worth of floor.

At about five-sixteenths of an inch thick the boards are light and easy to handle. And being real wood looks so much more realistic than its vinyl plank cousins. The manufacturer, Shaw, lists a number of transition pieces you will likely need for doorways and where the laminate meets carpet.

I am still looking for a source for those so colors match. We are quite happy with this choice and are considering adding it to an adjoining room.

Firstly, it shipped quickly and the packaging was very well done. There’s a transparent opening so you can see the tile but it’s in plastic and nothing gets scratched. These are bigger than I thought.

They are definitely bigger than the standard laminate tiles at big box stores. This made installation much quicker and easier. They lock in so there was no issue with laying them out evenly (another plus).

Cutting was very simple my husband used his work knife but I’m sure a strong hand with a box cutter could cut with a little effort. Don’t be fooled though these aren’t thin. They come with thick foam padding and I noticed a huge difference in the warmth of the floor (energy savings!).

The color was very true to the online photos and it looks very vibrant in person. We used them in our kitchen and cleaning has been a breeze. Our toddler has spilled juice, icee, syrup and marinara sauce and all of it wiped off super easily.

I clean it daily with a swifter and mop it twice a week and it holds up very well to the water. It does not absorb anything and does not scratch. I am not looking into a matching set for the laundry room and some for the bathroom.

I would definitely recommend these for floors that get a lot of traffic, moisture, spills etc….

I love this flooring! It was simple to install with just a few tools, and the detailed instructions that are included. I installed the plank flooring in my front entryway, measuring 104 sq. ft. , and it only took about 3 hours including the time it took to remove the planks from the boxes.

I would go as far as to say that this product is even suitable for a beginner DIY improvement project. There were 3 different shades of planks and I decided to completely randomize them to give a more natural look.

I love the way the planks lock together to create a seam that I don’t feel when walking on the floor. Depending on the location and type of flooring that you have adjacent to this I would just remind you to take an excess piece so you can color match a transition strip, because those were not provided (which is common).

These planks are installed in a high traffic area of my home so the floor is cleaned often, I sweep daily and mop once a week. For this product I just use a mop dampened with hot water and a very small amount of my normal floor cleanser.

This Cider House “Snowy Oak” luxury vinyl plank flooring is very well-made. The versatil, gray oak woodgrain design will fit into just about any decor. The planks are sturdy, rigid, and uniform throughout the package.

The planks themselves interlock by “clicking” together, making for an easy, hassle-free installation you can do yourself. There is a sort of “padding” on the underside to cushion the floor and prevent noise.

This padding also aids in overall insulation for the room as well. Although the planks are strong and tough, they can be easily cut to fit around room fixtures, doorframes and such, resulting in a lovely, carefree floor for years to come.

Good quality overall. A few of the boards had their T&Gs chewed up a little – probably from the forklifts/strapping used. Most of the boards had a very slight ‘cup’ to them, not sure if this is normal but it was unexpected – not as flat as the plywood I’m used to using.

Good product, lays flat, good surface for finished flooring. Would have given 5 stars but edge paint was still wet, marked up everything it touched.

Not a high quality OSB. I only use it conditions that can be protected. Plus, why can’t they make a 3/4 board actually 3/4’s. It.s ridiculous!

Already received multiple complements on the floor. The color, texture and the fact it’s waterproof made it the ideal choice for a beach house remodel. It’s not as scratch resistant as the solid bamboo floors, and moving heavy objects across it might leave a mark if done without care, but the dog that refuses nail trims has been doing his usual dances on it without leaving a trace.

Can’t wait to try out another style for the next project.

Initially I received a bunch of boxes with pre-damaged flooring planks, that predominantly being smashed corners and also deep scratches in the planks. The certified flooring Techs from Halifax Flooring kept throwing out bad pieces and showing me the damage right from the box.

This was extremely concerning & frustrating. I would have given y’all a zero star as of then, maybe even a kick in the trousers. Ryan with Cali Bamboo addressed these frustrating concerns and went above and beyond in fixing these QA problems with the damaged product, and found a suitable remedy for the frustration, damages, and shorted inventory to finish the job.

I think y’all need to give Ryan a nice pat on the back, perhaps even a nice bonus or promotion as a merci beaucoup for keeping the customer very happy in a difficult situation. Attah boi Ryan, job well done!! With these dilemmas being addressed properly and consequently pushed out of mind, overall the Cali Geowood is a very beautiful product indeed.

Very lovely flooring with the unbeatable natural look and solid well built density easily outdoing any synthesized pseudo LVP fake patterns any day of the darn week. Room for improvement: I would have imagined the finishing oxide coat to be more scratch resistant to be completely honest.

The floor does scratch much easier than expected. With that being said, finding a way to increase a resin seal of this lovely product with an even stronger finish would make this a world class piece.

I am general contractor who overall loves CALI BAMBOO flooring materials but I am doing a home right now where I’m in process of doing every room in house except the bathrooms and bedrooms. I have completed the large den almost 300 sq.

ft. and I have to say this aged amber geowood floor is the worst I’ve ever touched and installed from cali bamboo. I have had several pieces damaged from opening box for starters but that another story as far as a installers stand point it has been nothing but slow to work with and is not flexible in anyway shape or form ( installers no what I mean ).

It scratches so easily it is straight up nerve racking. I am a contractor who typically really enjoys all the cali bamboo flooring project I do BUT SO FAR not one minute have I with this flooring. It does not go together that easily first of all, then you got the whole scratching process to deal with throughout the job, then as far as when your cutting out the door jamb’s and casing trim for flooring to slide underneath and then having to lock it together NOT SO MUCH ( ROUGH ).

I have taken a break from this project for almost two months now due to other reasons once the Den was completely finished then home owner had some things come up as did I but were both on same page and im getting ready to start back there very soon to install the living room,kitchen,pantry,family room and some closets and I have to say im not looking forward to it at all.

I have so many sample pieces of Cali Bamboo flooring that I share with my customers and help them along in the picking out process and as of right now I will be removing this Oak and Bamboo Geowood flooring out of my sample box.

We had GeoWood bamboo floors installed a year ago in Anchorage, Alaska where we have no climate control during the summers (temps got over 90F last summer) and radiant heat during the winter which dries the house out considerably.

Even so, the flooring has held up beautifully. We have 3 kids and a Labrador retriever who are all hard on floors. There have been no scratches due to claws, and toys, dishes and appliances have been dropped many times and very little scratching.

Any scratches are quickly and seemingly permanently hidden with a little Old English. Our installer had never used GeoWood or any Cali product and said we needed to write a review to let people know how easy the installation was, especially relative to other floating floors he had installed.

Do be careful of water damage. We chose GeoWood for its water resistance, but it isn’t totally waterproof. We had it installed throughout the kitchen and one spot where I have a floor mat got moisture under the mat that sat for a couple of days and there is a little bit of lightening of the wood on the seam of two of the planks where water penetrated.

But if you didn’t know it was there you wouldn’t notice. After a full year of everyday wear and tear, kids coming in and out from snow and ice and no special “babying” of the floors they still look like new.

We would recommend GeoWood bamboo floors to anyone looking for a beautiful, durable wood floor.

Built a new house, wanted to go Eco friendly and found this flooring to fit in perfectly for our needs. Sadly after 15 months I couldn’t be more disappointed and my wife and I just wish we went with carpet.

Put down 1000 sq feet and spent thousands. We are sick over the situation. It was installed professionally exactly as Cali recommended. Concrete was fully cured for over 3 months, sealed and glued down with Tightbond products just as Cali recommended.

Humidity in the home is a constant 45% +/-2%. The floor has been cared for exactly as Cali recommended in care and maintenance guide. Many planks for whatever reason are making cracking noises when walking on them and we are now discovering they are coming loose from the floor.

When the sun shines in casting a shadow you can see every single plank that joins together with another is slightly cupping. Tapping on the floor where the cupping is occurring sound hollow, because it is no longer glued down.

Then there are the numerous white streaks appearing all over. Almost looks like someone took a white marker to my floor. You can see its under the finish of the floor, very weird. Lay a flashlight on the floor and you can push down on the but end of any plank and see the plank move up and down.

We NEVER HAVE worn shoes in our home, and have no pets with claws or kids that have damaged the floor in any way shape or form. There are SEVERAL places where the finish has Popped Off, for no reason leaving an unsightly mark as well.

Called Cali and was told NO touch up kit was available for our floor.

Looks exactly like we were hoping. Easy to keep clean. As a first time installer this was the most difficult home project I have ever done (harder than tile, concrete or roofing). It doesn’t help that the planks do not always fit together very well, there was a lot of trial and error before glue down.

If you do it yourself make sure to buy flooring straps, they turned out to be a must.

I am using the basswood sheet to back mosaics and then place them in a shadow box and glue them down. It’s easier to create the mosaic on a flat surface with no sides. This pic shows four mosaics, the bottom right has not been completed.

Once I complete the grouting, I can clue it into the frame.

Had this floor installed in Family Room to replace Stainmaster Carpeting from Lowes. Wanted dog proof flooring. So far, this Timbercraft has stood up to many things (dog related). The only disappointed is the Valley Grove looks nothing like the samples shown on the wall at Lowes.

Much darker and covered everywhere with dark brown knots and spots. Want to refloor rest of house but don’t want to choose same color. Don’t know which color comes without all those dark spots, if ahy, and now will not match family room.

I’m well into it now, so it’s going in our whole house, we’re selling turns out anyways. The step block for knocking chips up the edges if pieces are tough to get tongue and grooved smoothly, I’ve got a bit of curled edge some I got irritated and just decided to burn the piece and use what I could as an end piece on other side of room, and what’s underneath its top layer, recycled compressed cardboard? It’s so expensive but I feel it’s very cheap.

I’m a union new construction plumber. I’m no carpenter but when people come over they ask what carpenter did our install. makes me feel good, direct impact? It’s more durable than I expected. I’m about to do our stairs next 14 stairs 1200$.

just materials. 3000 total for someone to install. ya no thanks I’ll do it.

I have put in 3 other laminate floors through out the years, this is the hardest to put together by far! It doesn’t want to lock and snap together. It physically takes lots of strength to get it together.

Once you got it together it wouldn’t stay locked in place. It’s a beautiful floor by far though! What should have taken one day to install in the past has taken 8 days! I bought this because of the wet protect and I am not sure how well that will work when some of it won’t stay clicked together.

This is a beautiful color, it just needs to be made easier to install. At first I thought it was just us so I hired more help and that felt the same as me. It won’t click and lock well.
