20 Best Wood Shower Bench (2022 Updated)

with two exceptions, all of the parts fit together perfectly. The bench is well made, well designed and made of attractive durable wood which I think is Acacia. It’s durable, comfortable to sit on and wide enough to accommodate any normal sized person.

I gave it 4 stars because of difficulty in assembling it. The threaded inserts in the crossbars to which the seat slats are attached were partially blocked so that the screw threads could not engage the insert threads when I tried to attach the legs.

I used a power drill to force the screws (two of them) to engage the inserts. For a product this expensive using inferior manufacturing procedures or components is inexcusable so that’s why it gets four stars.

I bought this over 3 years ago. It works perfectly fine for me, doubles as a side table if I choose to remove it from the shower, and best of all. with a hand-held shower attachment, works perfectly for bathing small to medium dogs.

No more backaches! The bench does need oiling from time to time. But as long as you remove excess water after showering (I just wipe it down with the shower squeegee) and oil it occasionally, it will look great for years! I like the curve of the bench, and the handles.

It’s nice to have things that look nice, rather than using the handicap shower bench (I have mild disabilities).

We bought this bench for my husband. When assembling it, he was concerned that the included screws had very little of the screws imbedded into the bench top and shelf. Most of the length of the screw was simply covering the space through the bench leg, not holding anything together.

He was concerned about the safety of so little holding the legs to the top and shelf. We disassembled what I had put together and returned the bench. The return had to be made by returning the item to the warehouse.

I could not return it to the store as I had used PayPal for the purchase.

It is great. We have it in our shower and it allows us to sit down if we feel tired. it doesn’t look bulky and doesn’t show alot of metal when folded up. Definitely a bonus for our walk in shower install.

The stool is very good looking. It is quite heavy. It arrived with a chip of wood off in the corner but it was small and I wood glued it. I used it for the first time today and was able to wash my hair myself for the first time in weeks without being totally exhausted.

Surprisingly good quality. Packaging could be a bit better.

Instead of getting one of the whitish plastic and metal shower chairs for the aging household to use safely in the shower, I decided to try the triangular shaped teak shower seat. First, it is sturdy and being a triangle, it has equal strength.

There is also a little shelf below the seat which is perfect for items to use. There are plastic tabs under the legs; I set the chair in each corner to see which would be the most secure and was successful.

There is no movement at all. We wash the shower top to bottom just to make sure no slippery film builds. So, the seat is comfy, the chair is secure, and it’s teak–beautiful and useful at a good price!.

I’m so happy with this purchase. It’s perfect for a small shower. The grey distressed color looked great with my shower design. The bench fits perfectly in the corner of my shower and now I have somewhere to put my leg up when I shave legs lol.

Exactly what I was looking for. Those of you commenting that the middle leg is too short for a shower, there is an easy fix. Yes, the shower is slanted. The leg has a screwed in “foot” to it. Unscrew it 4 turns and it works perfectly.

We bought this teak bench when having our master bathroom remodeled two years ago, and I regret buying it. The underside of the bench gets a white film/discoloration from showers (our shower is 3′ x 4′) and doesn’t easily come clean.

We have to take the bench off the wall at least once a year to restain the teak, and teak oil REEKS for days. I have asthma so this is not good. The smell also is headache-inducing. And it’s a pain because we’re literally taking it apart.

I’m concerned that we’re going to strip the wood behind the tile from having to remove it for cleaning and staining. We’re getting ready to take it off the wall again to restain it, but also because there’s a mold smell we can’t get out of the shower and we suspect it’s from moisture build-up behind the back.

There’s a gap behind it and between the slats, and I always rinse off the shaving cream when I shave my legs, so water gets behind it. I feel like we’re stuck with it because anything we’d buy to replace it would not cover both sets of holes in the tile, and it would be expensive if not impossible to remove those two tiles and have them replaced.

It’s wider than most benches as well, so we’d be filling holes in a marbled pattern tile with grout. NOT a look I’d be happy with. I would strongly recommend buying a folding bench that is maintenance-free, won’t allow mold to build up behind it, and is less expensive.

There weren’t as many options two years ago as I’m seeing today. I’m still going to call the tile guy to get his advice about swapping this out. It’s not worth the hassle. It’s sturdy, but only looks good for a short period of time before the film builds up.

I love this shower chair. I’m happy I chose this instead of a permanent built in bench as I have more room inside the shower. I did seal the teak using Danish teak sealer (don’t use teak oil) made for boats and outdoor teak furniture bought here on Home Essentials Direct.

I followed the Instructions for the sealer and sanded the wood slats first, then roughed them between coats with a green scotch pad. I waited 8-12 hours between coats and put on 4 coats. The wood darkened and turned out beautiful.

The water beads up on the wood nicely.

Picked this up for just under $200 Home Essentials Direct Warehouse. Prime got it to me in well under 48 hours. As is true 99% of the time with Home Essentials Direct Warehouse, the item is brand new in every way.

At least that is true for me and I use the Warehouse frequently. Extremely well made. Strong. Should last longer than me. Nice size. Keep in mind it has to be screwed to wall studs on a 16″ center. Not a big deal, you say, every house has 16″ centered studs.

Not true but that isn’t the real problem. The real problem is having your studs line up with where you want to place this, normally the center of a shower end wall. In other words, find the center point of where you want to hang this, then see if you have a wall stud centered 8″ to the right of that mark and then another 8″ to the left.

How likely is that? Not. Open up the wall opposite the shower and install backing boards? A couple of spanning 2x’s (redwood, cedar?) laid horizontally inside the shower and screwed to the noncooperative vertical wall studs (the seat then screwed to the horizontal boards)? In fact, we’re talking a product best suited to new construction and even then we’re talking holes in your shower wall.

The teak is unfinished, dull or if you prefer flat, and somewhat coarse and left so will weather a still rougher gray. I’m going to coat mine with either Danish oil (which I keep around) or teak oil which I’ll have to buy, rubbing in multiple coats to give the wood a bit of a sheen and slightly soften it to the touch.

Either will have to be periodically reapplied. Another reviewer used polyurethane which is arguable, you can Google teak, water, and finishes to see why, just keep in mind boating applications (of which you will see many) involve a lot of uv trauma which shouldn’t be an issue in your shower.

In any event, I’m going to take the boards off before oiling to encourage long term consistency and more consistent protection protection. This is probably overkill for an oil but if you decide to go poly or varnish, as opposed to an oil, you should seriously consider doing the same as the finish won’t bind to the frame and you will have a series of invisible lines (at least initially) that will lead to water seeping under the poly or varnish.

Finally, and why I gave this thing only four stars, is the frame. It is indeed sturdy and well finished. No rough edges, no paint flaws, mechanically sound. However, the paint is the rub. When I looked at the picture and read the frame is aluminum, I envisioned a polished metal frame, akin to the stainless in my new master bath.

No. The frame is painted. Silver gray. By all appearance, powder coated. Again, nice enough, but it matches nothing in the standard bath. And, unless you have a bath the size of a living room, this thing is going to be one of the more prominent features.

So, if your wall studs are exactly where they need to be, gray (as to the metal and the soon to weather teak) fits your motif, and drilling six holes in your shower wall is acceptable, this thing is perfect.

Otherwise, it’s a very well designed and well manufactured seat that requires major tweaking prior to installation.

Must admit, I did not buy this as a shower bench but as a small bench for the entry to our home for taking off boots and outerwear. The quality is excellent and it fits in with our Prairie/Mission style very well.

Very sturdy and well constructed, with graceful lines. Added a kilim cushion to fit on top and we love the look. The finish is surprisingly beautiful, dark brown, warm matte tones.

I love this bench. I debated back and forth about installing a tile shower bench, pull down seat, or a free-standing bench in my new shower. The teak bench won out and I couldn’t be happier. It is great to have the option to remove it, although that doesn’t happen except on cleaning days.

Do be careful if you have a glass shower door. This bench is heavy duty and when I took it out one day to clean the shower I forgot it was behind me and about tipped it right into the glass. It is heavy and I am sure it would have broken the glass.

Some of the stain did come off in the shower, but it has seemed to stop now and it never stained my white shower pan. If my shower pan was tile/grout I would have been a little more careful to make sure that it didn’t stain the grout.

It was the perfect and most reasonably priced option for a shower bench for our bathroom remodel. Pros: well made, flexible to leave in or remove from the showerCons: some of the stain bleeds off.

Purchased this bench due to durability vs bamboo; and I’m glad I went with this option, after converting our tub shower into a walk-in shower. The bench is very sturdy and requires little maintenance (as long as you’re keeping up weekly).

I have medium size walk-in shower and this fits perfectly. It adds a convenient seat and helps add to the spa-feeling of my bathroom Assembly was very easy and quick. I could tell of the quality immediately as the dovetails of the top and legs fit perfectly and the metal screws are just to secure it for long term.

Hello I loved this shower stool but this past weekend I flipped it over and found live mushrooms growing underneath. It really scared me I had to throw it out i thought I was cleaning it very well but i did some research and the fungus eats the nutrients in the wood I don’t know if it’s avoidable being that it’s being used in a wet humid place.

This was purchased for an outdoor shower. The bench molded in less than a month. It is wellade and easy to assemble but does not do well in moist environments. I would not purchase again.

We bought this as a handy place to put clothes while showering, the under shelf is really handy for storing the towelling floor mat we use when exiting the shower. Not had to yet but it appears to be sturdy enough to sit on, should it ever be needed! Highly recommended.

The dark finish goes great with my new walk-in shower. I liked that it was a little different than most of the teak benches. It was easy to assemble and I treated it with 2 coats of teak oil which make the water bead on the finish.

The bench is well made and comes as described. We haven’t installed it yet, so I can’t share how well it will hold up or about the installation process. It looks nice and sturdy. Ordering and shipping was very fast and easy.

Attached to the wall, secured, folds out if way when not in use. Waiting on the local professional Installer to attach it to the wall.

I was disappointed that I had to return as this was a good quality piece . The color was wrong for me and I found it was a bit high for me. Overall it’s pretty good!

This is a very sturdy well made bench. It is comfortable to sit on and works well both I. And out of the shower. We wanted a dark stain and this was exactly the color I wanted. The finish is beautiful and so far has held up over the last couple of months, although it’s not always in the shower.

It’s gorgeous. So well made, and so easy to put together. The shelf is easier to install with two ppl but do-able for one. It’s darker than it shows in the pics – I’d call it a true espresso. It’s really simple, sturdy , and thoughtfully made – right down to the packaging and shipping materials.

Very clever trick for the little cocoon of hardware. ;).

Wish I could add photos, purchased for a home we are currently building. We pulled it out of the box to look it over and it looked beautiful. Very large and perfect for the shower. Time will tell how it holds up.

Cute stool/bench. Easy to put together. However, the varnish was slightly chipped on two different places on the legs. Damage not substantial enough to go through the trouble of returning the bench. It will be in the master bathroom, so not many people will see or use it.

I was surprised by the damage because the bench parts were very tightly wrapped in bubble and plastic wrap. I think the damage occurred before it was wrapped and shipped. I am slightly concerned about long term use in the shower and possible water absorption through the leg.

I have not used it in the shower yet.

I bought this bench after an accident that affects my coordination and put it in a large walk in shower (12 ft x 5 ft) with two shower heads but no safety bars – too large for them to work well. It’s perfect for shower safety.

Adjustable grip pads on each foot allowed me to get it stable in the position I prefer under one of the shower head and the same settings work under the other shower head plus in the center back where I keep it so others have full access to either shower.

The slight swoop in the center is a very comfortable sit and seat slats just big enough to drain rapidly yet still be comfy for the entire shower. Grip pads stay in place even with full water on the bench.

Dimensions exact as in order info and height perfect for medium tall woman. Love it!.

This is such a beautiful, solid piece of furniture. It doesn’t wobble on the stone floor either. I bought the two year insurance in case for some reason it doesn’t hold up in the shower like it’s supposed to.

while I absolutely love the Samba bench, in fact, it’s the 2nd one I ordered from the manufacturer, this one came with wood powder beetles in it, right out of the packaging. When I inquired about it, the manufacturer told me that I must have bugs in my house.

I called pest control, who checked our old house and confirmed that it was indeed the bench, it must have been lacquered while the wood was still wet. I was then told to please throw out the bench, and they would replace it.

Fast forward a week, and they said oh nevermind, we will only give you a 15% discount, we aren’t replacing it. AFTER I threw away the old one. I’m beyond disappointed.

Small sturdy & stylish! Needed a little bench in the bath to hold some towels and the remote for the bidet seat. This is perfect, and it looks great too. The fact that it is for shower, means that I don’t have to worry about the material being effected by being in the bath with the steam shower.
