20 Best Wood Siding Cleaner (2022 Updated)

Scotts® Outdoor Cleaner House & Siding with ZeroScrub™ Technology Was something we got to help us remove moss from certain areas of our home before the settling winter. I must say we did get this in the middle of fall weather where it rains in the northwest.

You essentially need a dry day and surface for this to take effect. We finally found a good two or three days of dry weather and sun so we applied it to remove moss on our cement patio and our siding.

The solution was easy to apply either with the help of the hose or pressure washer as it’s easy to connect. We made sure to remove all patio furniture and follow directions. One things that make me nervous about using this continuously are all the cautions for touching this solution, unrepairable eye damage if put in contact with it, and making sure to not leave the solution soaking in the grass.

It seems like there are many cautions that a mistake may be bound to happen when using this over time. The results were great and it did remove moss from our patio with just a one time spray and saved us time.

The siding area we did under our window worked well too. It was very easy to apply and we noticed a huge difference in our siding in comparison to other areas. I’m we are happy with the results, but the cautions seem like many I would not want to be encounter; thus, it is important to wear eyes protection and gloves.

I think some rebound spray would be hard to avoid in you choose to spray this high on a two story home from the floor along the sides where there is only 5 feet distance from the gate. I would not use this solution if there is a chance that rebound spray would hit my skin/eyes.

Make sure you can stand far away to avoid that. For future cleaning, we may only use this sparingly in tough moss covered areas where we can get clearance from any solution spray. Overall, we were happy with the final results.

I used this bottle with caution as first to test it out on some plastic lawn chairs. They cleaned op nicely so I knew it was safe on other plastic related siding and decking. I ended up using the bottle it its entirety on my TREX decking which is about 2200 square feet.

I sprayed the whole bottle with hose attached onto the deck let it sit on a cloudy day in early winter, then brushed it all around with a simple push broom and sprayed it off with the hose after that.

Good as new, removed all green algae and slime from shaded areas and bird droppings and it smelt pretty good, would use again without hesitation !.

I picked up this product in October, right before the rainy season started here in the PNW. I tried it on a few things; an aggregate concrete pad, wooden privacy fence and an old grill cover (I figured what the heck? The cover is old anyways.

) The product worked well on all three things – perhaps best on the fence and grill cover seeing that the product could be evenly sprayed on a surface that allowed the spray to run off. The concrete pad pools water, so it was difficult to apply – not the fault of the product.

After everything dried it was pretty clear that the product had worked. I will definitely be using it again once Summer gets here after the warm and wet winter we’ve had. My only ‘issue’ with the product is that it requires a hose to apply – and my hose coverage is limited on the sides of my house.

There are areas where I would need a different strategy /product to clean up the siding/gutters.

People are not using this product correctly. To remove mold stains use bleach or high strength peroxide. After the stain is gone, use mold control in the same area to prevent mold returning. Bleach does not kill the roots of mold, but it does remove the discoloration.

The mold control product has successfully kept mold at bay in my house. Only failures I have had are with fabrics, Insulation around air ducts.

I paired this with Mold Armor and it obliterated the mold I had on the studs in my bathroom. I emptied the bottles on all of it approx 5’x8′ space. Made sure to apply at least 2 coats(3 on the heavy stuff).

I scraped the mold off with a paint scraper and steel wool. Wiped off with blue shop towels, dried, and then sprayed again. 24 hours later the wood is mold free and I can start painting it over with Kilz.

An ok stop gap, but this is no substitute for professional mold remediation. I sprayed this on mold in my closets to prevent it from spreading on the surface of my walls until professionals were able to remove the carpet, pad, trim, drywall, insulation, and tack strips.

It seemed to stop the visible mold, but I would never use just a spray on moldy build materials that should be removed in spite of the product’s advertising.

Bought this because I had a little trouble getting the mold off the north side of my house with a small power washer. Sprayed it on with the hose connector, waited 10 minutes, rinsed and BOOM all gone.

Did the entire house without the power washer. The spray reached the peaks and my house is beautiful. I did rinse the plants before and after with no issues. Then I tackled my neighbors north wall (which I see when relaxing on my porch).

The wall was black with mold because the landlord hadn’t done anything for years. I sprayed while on a ladder over my fence, waited 10 minutes and rinsed it off. I now see a yellow clean house! Remarkable product that I have purchased more of.

One bottle cleaned my house and a 1/4 of one for the neighbors wall. I usually power wash every two years but will use this product yearly. So easy and with only the hose. Would definitely recommend this product!!.

I’m very impressed with this product. It works simply and effectively. Without any scrubbing, it blasted away mold, mildew, and algae stains with a powerful spray nozzle already attached to the jug. No ladder was needed as the spray was strong enough to ready my gutters.

I used it on my brick fascia and my concrete driveway and walkways. I love there was no mixing needed. It was ready to use right away. It works fast. In fact, i could see the clean in minutes. The power is apparantly in the product and not so much in the strength (or pressure) of the water.

This is good because I don’t really have high water pressure at my home. The instructions were clear, and the steps were easy to follow. After you spray surrounding vegatation with water for protection, you spray your house or whatever you;’re cleaning and only wait ten minutes to rinse the product off.

It’s not foamy but does have a strong bleach smell. I love that you get good coverage area for product you use. I’ve learned to not use it in direct sunlight and don’t wear nice clothes or get it on your skin and you’ll be just as pleased with it as I was.

We just bought a brick house and need to clean the brick. We got this to try if the weather ever cooperates. It’s been cold and windy which are two things that aren’t a good idea with trying to clean.

I have read to make sure to wear eye protection when using this. This product BLEACH in it so be aware of that also and don’t wear anything that could be ruined. We tried a small test on our concrete driveway and it seems to work.

I also read that you might need multiple applications and with our house that will probably be the case. I think overall this product does what it needs to after we tested a small part. We will see how the rest of the house is once we really use this.

I would recommend this.

I received a gallon of Mold Armor E-Z Deck, Fence & Patio Wash and was excited to get to work on my deck that’s been ignored for several years. Unfortunately it’s been a rainy season here and I wanted to apply this product, and then hopefully have some sunny days to dry the deck good and apply paint all within a few days.

Well the weather finally happened and I was amazed at how well this product cleaned my deck and steps. I used my backpack sprayer to apply the product. Since the deck and steps were soooo badly molded and mildewed (I have a large maple tree covering most of my deck) I applied at full strength and waited for about 10 minutes which the directions recommended and it worked extremely quickly at removing the buildup.

After I sprayed it I used a water hose to remove the product and to wash away any of the product from my plants. IT WORKS GREAT! The only downside I could see was that I needed to buy another gallon but that’s because I have a large deck and 13 steps with handrails.

I have already recommended it to family members!.

I used this today on white porch railings, 3 rocking chairs and vinyl siding on the front of my house. I was amazed at how little product it took to cover the area using a manual pump sprayer. It was really easy to use, and cleaned up beautifully.

My rocking chairs look new. It has a rather strong chlorine odor, but it was like being at the pool – not the laundry room! I’ll definitely use this product again. I normally use a pressure washer, but this was quicker and easier.

Product works great. I needed to clean my deck before re- staining. This wash cleaned my deck boards of old dirt as well as killed and removed mold and algae growth and stains. Price point unbeatable compared to other name brands.

I have since gone back and purchased more to clean more areas of my property.

Bought this spray bottle and the 1 gallon refill next to it on the shelf to do a number of cleaning tasks outside. Cleaner works well. Nice that it’s bleach-free and can spray safely around plants & grass.

BUT, discovered that the spray bottle CANNOT be opened and refilled. The spray product runs out pretty quickly when cleaning large areas. I bought a 1 gallon refill but have no way to spray it. Why sell a big refill when the sprayer doesn’t open?!? Could use improvement in this regard.

If you need to do a lot of cleaning, you’ll need to but many multiple spray bottles.

Very happy with Scotts Outdoor Cleaner. It’s spring clean-up time in New England. I used this product on my mesh pool chairs, and in my deck. It did an AMAZING job on the chairs. After all of last summer by the pool, and spending the winter stored in the garage, they were covered in dirt and mildew.

I mixed the concentrate in a Scotts Multi-Use Sprayer, lightly sprayed the chairs, gave a quick brushing, and hosed them off. They came out looking like brand new! My deck is made of Ipe hardwood, and normally requires serious power washing, like a concrete patio.

I wanted to test this product out, so I figured I’d give it a shot on the decking. I mixed it at a 1:1 ratio, sprayed it on the decking, brushed it in good, then hosed it off. It didn’t come out as good as it does with the power washer, but I was amazed at how much dirt, mildew and algae it did remove! I wound up power washing the deck anyway, because it’s pretty necessary with the Ipe.

But I think this product would be fantastic for a normal soft wood deck, like pine, cedar or redwood. I’ll definitely be buying this product again!.

I would have given the product and bottle five stars if the bottle was refillable. This product is great at cleaning a variety of outdoors surfaces. We’ve used it on patio furniture, patio cushions, wooden portions of screened porch, and vinyl floor of an outdoor deck all with great success.

The design of the bottle makes it so easy to switch between applying the product and rinsing the item being washed. However, it is really important to know that the bottle is NOT refillable. That means that you either need to purchase a new bottle once you run out or you need to hang onto the old style bottle which is refillable.

We go through quite a bit of this product each spring so like to buy the large refill. That’s more economical and environmentally sound. Not possible with this non-refillable bottle. What a disappointment.

I tried three different hoses and all three popped off of the cheap plastic piece that the hose screws into. I even tried to have the unit in the open position (in hopes that this would create less pressure) — no go.

Every time I turned the hose on, it popped off of the item. I even resorted to using plumber’s tape in hopes that this would create a better seal. Nope, this time, it didn’t completely pop off, but more water squirted backwards than went thru the item.

Obviously, I have no idea how good the product works because the manufacturer saved a nickel by using a cheapo plastic adapter for the hose to screw into.

Well not sure what the result should be but it didn’t make a difference for me. I still had to get very close with my pressure washer to remove the dirt off the siding of my home. This did nothing but make it smell like a chemical and create suds.

Just plain water worked much better and it was the force of the pressure washer that removed the dirt and mildew, not the liquid chemical. Now if the purpose of using this is to create a coating on the siding to prevent future build up then we will have to see, but it did absolutely nothing to clean it.

I even sprayed off some of my brick patio to see if it would kill some of the moss and grass growing, waited 48 hours to see if the chemicals would kill it off, and it did nothing. I would suggest grabbing a ladder and using soap and a sponge on your home, then rinsing with the pressure washer.

I would also recommend using a grass and weed killer on your patio, and again just using the pressure washer to rinse. These two methods have worked for me, and I guess I was hoping to avoid the extra work it takes by using a $10 cleaner.

Haha right, I did know ahead of time it seemed unrealistic but I trusted the reviews enough to try it anyway. That is why I wrote this, so you can save time, money, and the embarrassment of fooling yourself.

WOW!! I would highly recommend. I had serious mold on my travertine stone pavers on my walkway to my front door. I used chlorox, pressure cleaned – nothing. Then, I took a chance on this item and it just cuts right through it.

I made a mistake by using an old Hudson sprayer that did not spray, just dribbled. I wasted a lot of the product. Make sure you have a good sprayer and do not water it down.

I’d intended to use Scotts Outdoor Cleaner House & Siding to clean siding, but I put off doing it, and now the winter rains are here. So while I wait for drier weather, I’ve started cleaning the dry parts of the covered cement patio in the back yard instead.

It’s a DIY job done by a previous owner, with lots of uneven spots where blown rain and dirt, and moss have collected and worked down into the cement. So far it’s going well! I’ve only been able to tackle one end of the patio because there’s still a lot of windblown detritus to clear away before the entire thing can be cleaned.

But just using my hose and the Scotts Outdoor Cleaner as directed quickly removed most of the old grime. There appear to be some dark ground-in dirt spots that will need a second cleaning when I’m done with the first pass, but it’s possible they’re really stains, not dirt.

So overall I’m very happy with both the results and with how easy it is to use!.

Compared spraying aged, treated, pine pickets with this followed by spraying with 3100 psi pressure washer to just using the pressure washer and then to first spraying with straight outdoor bleach and then spraying with the pressure washer.

Far-and-away the Behr chemical was quicker to clean the pickets. I’d guess it’s 5 times quicker than no chemical and 3 times quicker than straight bleach. Another thing I noticed is that the straight bleach took all the color out of the pickets, but the Behr did not.

Using this was a pleasure after trying the other two methods.

I first bought it at the Home Depot workers recommendation to use it to get rust, etc off a concrete ocean front balcony. Worked like a charm! He said they used it in a rusty grill and it works great on rust, on stripe paint that was wet and got on car.

Rusty water from sprinklers on car, house. Really. Works on everything.

Bought it to treat new fencing with a green hue to it. Tried a 50/50 mix, did nothing. Then tried full strength and again nothing. Used a pressure washer on both times and still have the green hue on the pockets.

Read directions 4 times and followed to a tee. Behr recommends using this before you paint or stain even new wood. I think they tell you that to sell you their product. Hate I wasted money buying their stain now.

I have been using Jomax for many years. It is one of the only products that you can blend with bleach. I make the mixture per the directions on the side and use a garden sprayer to apply it to what ever I am cleaning.

I use pressurized water (not a pressure washer) to wash the dirt, mold and stains off after letting the blend stay on the surfaces. Rarely do I have to use a brush. Maybe another light application of the mixture if an area was real bad.

I have used it on brick, metal, vinyl siding, wood siding, patio furniture, decks and concrete. Very happy customer!.

This stuff worked great. I tried another brand a month ago and it barely did anything. Jomax did an amazing job. I followed directions carefully, measured and applied carefully. 15 minutes later my severely discolored vinyl was sparkling clean.

My house had plenty of dirt and mildew built up on the vinyl siding. I’ve used other products that had great promises – they didn’t live up. Jomax actually lived up to it’s promise. Worked like a charm.

I’m guessing the only way someone would be disappointed is if they did not follow the directions. Mixed it as directed and sprayed it on with a good garden sprayer – wet it good. I watched the dirt and mildew disappear even before I pressure washed it.

This stuff really works great. I used it at a 50/50 mix with water on my patio blocks and let it sit for 5 minutes. Brushed the heavy green areas with a deck brush rinsed and the results were amazing.

The other great thing is it keeps working and looked even better the next day. Also used on my gazebo top that was turning green on the inside with the same great results. My new go to cleaner for removing green buildup outdoors.

Also was great on concrete steps and flagstone walkway.

This product worked well. However, I think you need to pass onto the company who manufactures this that it would be beneficial if they made the containers of the Concentrate and Ready to Spray look different not just have it written on the container.

E. g. Different colours used. I thought I had ordered the Ready to spray and started using it as such, but realised after awhile it was behaving differently to one I had used previously. It turns out I had ordered the concentrate but only discovered that after looking closely at the container.

Spray and walkaway uses green on that container. I think for safety reasons differentiation should be used on the other two containers.

Arundel store showed this is stock. Team members couldn’t find it, although 14 listed in stock. Eventually bought when in stock at Southport. Used it today on small concrete tiled courtyard. Diluted to instructions, waited 15mins then scrubbed.

Absolutely no difference at all. So disappointed. If it looks better after some time, will addend review but so far, waste of $30 :(.

I love this cleaner. It has take green mold off my deck and north facing vinyl siding with no scrubbing. Read the directions and adjust the strength of your solution and I found giving it 10 minutes sitting on the area being cleaned improved first time cleaning success.

Don’t let the solution dry on the surface that only makes it harder to clean. I found cleaning on a cloudy day helped as well. I have used in my power washer and now have bought the prepackaged hose sprayer for higher on my house.

Make sure you wear protective eye glasses! It improved the look of my plastic adirondack chairs but they are old and have dried tree sap- it did take off the mold. Very pleased!.

Spring is just around the corner and I cannot wait to start cleaning up my patio area for all the BBQ’s this coming year! I have a concrete slab, very big, and it tends to turn dark and spotty throughout the year with rain, snow, ice, dirt and whatever.

I tried this on a small section just to see what I will be able to do in a few weeks to clean it off and it looks fantastic! I can’t wait to clean up everything around the yard including the exterior areas with the white vinyl siding on it.

Most of the exterior is brick and looks great but the siding is grimy and dirty. Can’t wait to get it done! This product is strong, efficient and actually WORKS!!! LOVING IT! Highly recommend to use!!.

First off, I ordered 2 jugs, and after I got it opened and started reading the instructions, you’re supposed to apply it on dry surfaces. Mine were damp, but I didn’t think that would be a problem. Both jugs were supposed to have a 3′ little tube/hose to attach the sprayer to one end and stick the other into the top of the jug.

No tube on either jug. I had to jam the sprayer into the top. I doused everything and then read on the back that for green stains it can take 3-4 DAYS, and for dark or black stains it can take 2-4 weeks or longer for them to fade.

I could have just squirted some soap on them and hosed it down if I didn’t want it to look like I just cleaned. That is far too long for results, it cost 2x more than 30 seconds cleaner , and cleaned about the same, which in my view didn’t even make a dent.

Don’t waste your money. After it dried there was a sticky film on everything as well, which there is no way I’m waiting a month or more to see if it fades. I don’t recommend this product.

I’ve applied this product using an inexpensive garden sprayer with a hand pump which made on gallon at a time. I brought the garden hose end up to the roof so I I could refill it as I went along, making a new mixture each time.

Because it will cause foaming, I slowly added water first, then the Wet&Forget concentrate to avoid foaming. Two weeks ago, I applied another dose because the shingles had a good amount of black mold.

When applying, try to do a few rows of shingle at a time to make sure you get a more even covering. I went up on roof two days ago, and it looks like the mold is slowly fading. We haven’t had much rain since the earlier applications, so I’m not expecting a rapid remediation.

My neighbor also noticed the change. For an average size home, the two pack should be enough for one application. If you have any left over, just make more mix and hit the darkest mold spots again to heavier coverage.

The best time to apply is in late afternoon when sun is low and shingles are not hot, to give the solution time to wet the shingle surface and better personal comfort from too hot a sunshine. Also, since shingles remain wet longer, you can more easily see where you sprayed to better insure uniform coverage.

Hopefully, the mold will be fully gone in a few more months. Then, I’ll be sure to reapply again in a year or two to keep more mold from forming.

Have used this product on my driveway, patio and sidewalk for several years. The first time I used it the concrete surfaces were either black or varying shades of gray. I did two treatments per the label instructions and in about 6 months I could see a difference.

After approximately 9 months all of the treated surfaces were looking as new. I now apply the product every year and the concrete continues to look new without any mold. I still do two treatments each year but I probably don’t have to.

The manufacturer claims it will not hurt lawns and I can attest that it had not damaged any of my landscaping. Wet & Forget works well for me and Sam’s sells it for the most reasonable price.

My father in laws house has light brown siding and every single spring we have to get buckets and sponges and soap and scrub his siding down because it gets that nasty mold and mildew on it. My husband found this mold armour EZ house wash and it works So great! It’s so easy to use.

No more buckets and scrubbing! You simply hook the bottle up to a garden hose and start at the bottom of the siding spray and coat the siding all the way to the top. Wait 10 minutes and rinse. A few of the thicker mold/mildew we had to do again but it’s so simple and easy.

Living in Alabama, I have noticed that our deck and porches often get moldy and then slippery, so I have been looking for a simple solution to resolve the issue for quite some time. I was super excited to try Mold Armor E-Z Deck Wash for Wood Surfaces, Composite Deck & Fence and I am so happy that I did.

The application of this product is super easy, simply apply to the surface you want cleaning, wait 10 mins and then rinse away. Once rinsed off my deck looked amazingly clean and the best thing about it was; no scrubbing was needed! I think this would be the perfect product to use before staining wood, especially older wood, to ensure that you are not sealing in any mold or dirt.

This is a fantastic product and I thoroughly recommend it to others/.

Recently purchased a home in an area of the south that is known to stay humid the majority of the year. Our deck is located towards the front of the house and is composed untreated wood. I noticed algae buildup immediately after it rains so this product is a must have.

After spraying off loose debris, then applying with a bucket and small shop broom to get down between the small grooves of the wood. I it’s starting to rain almost every other day and I could see a huge difference as to where I don’t see any green or black residue on the deck.

Great product for anyone that has a deck or wooden fence.

Warm weather brings outdoor cleaning. We spend a lot of time outside as a family. This is a great quality product. It has our deck looking brand new. Our deck was very dirty due to weather build up and mold looking stuff.

This product washed everything away including the mold and grim. Since use we haven’t had any issues it’s still looking fresh and new. We didn’t have to overly scrub, some spots yes but nothing like we used to.

This will definitely be our go to product.

I used this product on my painted enamel pool patio and on my painted concrete sidewalk and concrete driveway. Before starting, a call to customer service was necessary to decipher the mixing instructions.

Most people appreciate easy conversions to cups or readily available measures. The rep was able to convert the ratios (1:15; 1:20; 1:5) for my multi-gallon sprayer. Regarding ZeroScrub’s efficacy, my experience is that at the 1:15 strength and the 1:5 strength the results are underwhelming and disappointing.

The product may “kill” mold and algae but it leaves the brown/dark mold and algae residue still 90% visible (at best). The instructions state “no power spray or rinsing” is needed. I tried two applications after 24 hours and drying and barely noticed a difference from the pre-treated surfaces.

Surfaces still appeared dirty. After 48 hours I power sprayed the patio surface to remove the mold/algae and noticed it was NOT easier to remove the treated mold with the pressure power spray. It took me just as much time and effort to clean the surface as a non-treated surface.

Previously I have used other bleach products applied by a garden hose. Those products worked much faster and removed mold and algae quickly without scrubbing. This product, in my experience, did not.

I suspect the best use of this product would be as a preventative to mold/algae reappearance only if applied to a cleaned surface. The instructions seem to indicate that the product has this property since the customer should expect improvement over a period of days/weeks since re-application can done only after 30 days.

However, who wants to wait that long? I applied ZeroScrub to my clean sidewalk and my power-sprayed patio deck, and will watch them over the next month or so and see if mold/algae re-appear. That would be a PLUS!.

This Spray and Forget Revolutionary Roof Cleaner Concentrate works great!! The one gallon container actually makes 5 gallons and that was definitely enough to clean the roof of my home and the awnings above my widows.

It’s really easy to use, just like it says, Spray and Forget! My house was built in 1930 and still has the original slate roof, this Cleaner actually worked amazingly, I couldn’t believe how clean it looks.

And I love the fact that I didn’t have to cover up my flower beds, it doesn’t hurt your flowers, bushes, grass etc. I absolutely recommend this cleaner, I definitely won’t be using anything else.

I don’t even get that wet swimming!! Threads on bottle are weak and do not hold a garden hose. Bought 2 bottles and happened on both. If it had a zero rating, thats what I’d give it! Just forget this [email protected] all together.

Hot water alone works better than this. The theory sounds great, but practically garbage.

I tried this roof cleaner. It was easy to use and the directions where simple and easy to understand. I liked the fact that you just spray it and and your done. I have parts of my roof that don’t get much sun and seem to grow a moss like on it.

This cleaner work good and cleaning it and now my roof look new again. Would definitely use again and recommend to others.
