20 Best Wood Toilet Seat (2022 Updated)

A waste of money. Do not buy. The plastic bolts must be screwed into the holes with a Phillips screwdriver only (although the seat came with no instructions, no warranty, etc. ). After only a few days of normal use, the seat is starting to shift to the right.

There is nothing to anchor either bolt – only a plastic cover for the bolts which is strictly cosmetic. So, the weaker bolt, in this case the left one, starts to loosen. I will avoid this brand in future.

This is my third Bemis toilet seat in 21 years. Don’t buy a Bemis if you weigh more than a child. The first was a wood/solid replacement and was OK for the first and after McGyvering was OK for about 15 years.

Bought a plastic replacement: the hinges broke after 4 months. Bought another hard/wood replacement. After a month or so, I can tell already that the hinge design won’t last.

Good value. Installs easily. The plastic hinges squeaked a bit for the month but are now silent. Plan on replacing these every five years or so because the paint on the underside turns a bit yellow with age (and uric acid?) 15 year update – Am now on my 3rd set in two bathrooms.

Have never had any problems other than 5 year yellowing and a bit of initial squeaking, but this latest set has been squeaking now for 3 months and was getting worse. I tried spraying the hinges with silicon lubricant, but that did not help.

So I removed the two small wood screws that hold the plastic hinge to the wooden cover, pulled both hinges off the hinge pins, added a bit of Vaseline to the hinge pin splines, and reassembled. Problem solved so far.

If the problem reoccurs I may try filing down the hinge pin splines a bit with an emery board.

Slid around at first. I was starting to get angry but then realized it’s a simple fix to secure the seat. Make sure the plastic “points” underneath the hinge covers GO INTO the tops of the plastic screws when you shut the covers.

Otherwise the seat will slip off the toilet with the slightest movement. Once those points are in the tops of the screws, no more seat movement. There were no instructions to tell this very important part of the installation, so I give it 4 stars.

hardest toilet seat I’ve ever installed. Some genius decided to put a plastic tab on the underside of the screw covers. Of course this little tab makes it impossible to install the cover. No instructions describing the purpose of this feature so off it goes.

I hope the little weasel that came up with this idea got the two dollar plastic trophy he so richly deserves.

I was in search of the perfect toilet seat having been very dissatisfied with ones that had plastic hinges that always loosened and discolored. The Mayfair Benton is absolutely fabulous!! The hinges are made of metal and the entire set-up is very durable and attractive.

The lid closes softly, never slamming and cleaning is a cinch. In fact, I am going to purchase a second MB. Highly recommend this product.

I purchased this toilet seat because previously purchased seats with plastic hinges always cracked eventually. While the back screw is plastic, I am hopeful it is more durable because the front hinges are metal.

Slow close is nice too. Tip: if it doesn’t line up with the holes in your toilet, push the metal hinges with your hands and it will slowly move. This is not mentioned in the directions. Once I did this, it was easily fastened.

My only problem with this seat was the difficulty attaching the fasteners. They were really hard line up to get started, but once the fastener grasped the bolt it was easy to complete installation. I like this style of hinge because it is much easier to clean than the types where the lid almost touches the seat all the way across between hinges.

If you have family members who have occasional accidents you will appreciate the ease of clean-ups.

Solid seat but cheap, plastic hinges that break and seat wobbles and is useless. Contacted Bemis for a replacement but they would not help. Junky company and also the seat, too bad because it is very pretty.

I love the design on this toilet lid. I am one of those people that need to have rugs on the floor and a matching toilet cover. Since finding this designed seat years ago, I have replaced all the seats with this one.

We moved again and I was thrilled to see that you carried this seat. Both bathrooms have been updated and it is really a classing design for a toilet seat. Love it!.

Very nice! Looks good and well made. We had similar ones that the paint eventually wore off. We like wood because it’s durable but still comfortable. These have plastic screws though. The previous ones we had were metal which we liked better.

I have a 1950’s house that has been remodeled, but that has the 1950’s bathrooms that have the beautiful colored tiles. This toilet seat matches my toilet perfectly. I ordered one 10 years ago and forgot from where it came and also bought a pink seat to match another bathroom in the house.

These toilet seats are wonderful and beautiful. tHEY ARE EASY TO CHANGE AND THEY ARE WELL BUILT. i BELIEVE THEY ARE A FANTASTIC VALUE. I now have the type, size, color and from where they came so I can reorder again and again.

You cannot beat the price and quality in my opinion.

Who knew what “regency” blue would be? Dresden is in other “blue” seat descriptions. Doesn’t match ours. The “elongated” shape falls narrow on the sides. It doesn’t come with sticky pads and the plastic bolt hole has 3 installment options in one long slot that you just KNOW is going to wear away over time so you need to fashion your own way to keep it from slipping around.

One can’t see this until AFTER you remove the cellophane so I doubt I could have returned it & even if we could, $12 would hurt on a $20 seat. It’s in a master bath so we’re just gonna live with it until we move or replace the whole toilet.

I ordered the black with chrome hinges. It makes the bathroom look classy with my black and white tile. It’s comfortable too. It’s easy to clean but be sure and use a cleaner that won’t dull the finish.

It is a great price for the quality it is. I had ordered one a year ago before I had remolding done and told my contractor I wanted to save the seat but, not surprisingly, the plumber threw the old toilet with the seat in the dumpster they had in my yard.

I saw it when I got home and asked him to get it out the next day but before they could someone ‘dumpster dived’ for it seeing that it was a really good seat. So I ordered two new ones for both bathrooms this time.

Wonderful mahogany seat. Very classy-looking. BUT the box contained only one set of connectors so I had to jerry-rig from old parts one anchor and one plastic washer and on of the plastic nuts. This has resulted in a wiggle on the left side of the seat.

This seat is an absolute piece of Beauty. Any wood worker would prize himself to be able to construct a seat of this quality. The pieces that are put together are matched perfectly as to color & orientation of the grains that make up the entire complete assembly.

The finish is simply Beautiful. The selected hardware compliments the entire piece. I love this seat & highly recommend it to anyone that appreciates a beautiful & quality built toilet seat. I did replace the plastic nuts supplied with the seat with a heavier & more durable nut as the threads were easily stripped out if one tried to tighten them to a bit more extreme.

I would hope that the next one ordered by anyone would live up to these expectations as I have described.

The dark wood was beautiful and a perfect match to the color of our bathroom fixtures. The brass hardware also perfectly matched the existing hardware in our guest bathroom. The seat has 4 hard rubber tabs underneath instead of the usual two for added support on the commode rim.

The seat was easy to install, without tools, and only took a few minutes.

Finally found a real solid wood toilet seat! The wood veneer seats sold in stores are the worse, so this solid toilet seat is well worth the price. I did remove 1 star due to a few minor blemishes from how the seat is packaged – nothing major and nothing a little furniture polish won’t fix.

Overall this seat is easy to install and should last for years!.

Beautiful finish to the wood. compliments the wood accents to the bathroom and since my home was built in 1868 it has many wood accents. thank you

Only lasted about 9 weeks. It fell apart after only having it on a few months. You would think for $60 it wouldn’t be a piece of junk. Pretty, but garbage.

If you were dumb enough to buy a square front Eljer brand toilet 30 years ago. You know the seats are hard to find, and very expensive. This seat fits. Walmart also sells a Emblem replacement for a lot more money.

This seat might even be the same seat, but not identified with the Eljer name. It appears to be of good quality and there is no reason that I think the service life will be short. I bought a spare to save me the trouble in 20 more years of finding one again at a reasonable price.

I had been looking for a replacement seat and could not find one that would fit correctly. I measured the toilet as directed and then went through the list of available seats. This one was the only one that I could find with the right dimensions, so I took the chance that it was right.

Shipment was very fast even with the standard shipping and the seat fit perfectly. Installation was easy and gave me the option of a few minor adjustments to make the fit just right. The price was lower than most options which would not have fit the toilet as well.

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase.

After many, many years of cheap toilet seats with plastic hinges that never lasted long, I may have found the answer with this Bemis product. First, the price was very good with the shopping discount.

Second, the red color was true and fits into the bathroom scheme. Third, shipping was quicker than expected. Over the years my kids had a habit of letting to seat close noisily and with this slow closer, that will never happen again.

After installing, I found the seat to sit tight with no jiggling with the chrome-plated hinges. Also, the the hinge has 2 screw holes, so you can fit the seat in any of 2 ways so it will be situated perfectly.

Now the cons. The paper instructions are way to too small and not detailed enough. Since these hinges are totally different that than what you may be used too, I suggest you first watch the you tube installation video.

It will may the job easier. One other annoying thing was the the way the 2 rubber gaskets are installed to the upper part of the hinge. I think that Bemis should sell the unit with prefitted gaskets because as you will see in the video the demonstrator sits the sit on the rubber gaskets so perfectly without moving them.

In my world this did not happen and i had to adjust the rubber pieces as i was doing the tightening. I will wait awhile to see how this works out before buying another seat for the 2nd bathroom. Good luck on your installation.

Had one of these that came with our house. Very comfortable and the slow close is a nice feature. Very nice polished chrome hinges, however they do pit over time with the use of chemical cleaners. The finish on the seat will also begin to fade as my older one did.

Still, this Mayfair model is more comfortable than the other highly rated seats online. I specifically prefer this model since the seat is just slightly curved and does not slope down into the bowl.

The seat looks good, but the molded wood has no strength. If anyone weighs over 200 lbs. in your house, expect the seat itself to eventually snap between the hinge and the bumper that touches the bowel rim.

BTW, the plastic screws are a good design to avoid overtightening (not a bad design, as another review says), but the instructions are not clear – how it works is that you tighten until the plastic snaps, this keeps you from cracking the bowel with overtighening.

The toilet seat, Bemis 1500EC, shown on your website, in both still pics and In the installation video, has the following hardware kit: Two non-corroding metal bolts, two slotted bolt receptacles, two bushings, and two “stay-tight” nut assemblies with break-free tightening portion to assure no over-tightening.

Additionally, the installed hinges had covers securely attached to the hinge axis. The model I received has plastic bolts with bushings molded on, plastic wing nuts (only one wing) and separate hinge covers that apparently lock on but no instructions concerning this detail.

Upon my notifying customer service of this apparent mistake in the delivered product, I was very courteously sent a replacement assembly which turned out to be an exact duplicate of the first. Upon further research on the website, I conclude that the current model is an “improved” version of the one in the installation video (really? … plastic bolts?).

l have decided to go ahead and install one of the two units sent to me and would be happy to return the other to you if you desire (and furnish a return label). Suggestion – update the installation video to reflect the “all plastic” hardware kit now in vogue.

The media could not be loaded. I have an older house with Kohler everything in the guest bathroom. Finding a pink toilet seat for my old scarred toilet seat was proving to be expensive and hard to find.

Home Essentials Direct to the rescue. Saw the Bemis toilet seat which was reviewed fairly well. There was a pink which didn’t really match the ceramic toilet but it seemed close enough. Instructions for install were really simple and the seat is well made.

The seat has those soft close lids so the kids don’t slam it any more. I am writing this review several months post purchase. The color in my photograph is a little off. In reality, the seat appears more pink and less white.

While it doesn’t match Kohler’s pink perfectly, it is a worthy replacement at a reasonable cost. If this one ages, scratches, or breaks, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the same seat again.

Well made product that’s easy to attach. This is my 2nd Bemis toilet seat. The first one lasted about 30 years before the screws came out of it. This model appears to be the replacement model or direct descendant of my old seat.

By far, the hardest part of the replacement was removing the old seat from the toilet. This particular toilet’s in a tight area and it was very hard to get to the old metal bolts that had been reinforced with caulk or some other sort of seal.

Took about half an hour and a variety of tools, including a Dremel rotary, to get both the old bolts out. New plastic bolts and plastic nuts that came with this seat shouldn’t cause the same problem.

New attachment system is modular and plastic, and appears to be a far superior solution to the old metal bolt mounting system that was such a pain to remove. BOTTOM LINE: Product looks great, feels great, and appears to be very well made.

But be prepared for some real work to get your old seat off if it is attached with old metal bolts.

I am replacing elongated seats for my Kohler comfort seats. Initially I purchased Kohler seats. Withing a year they were stained and nasty looking, even with daily cleaning. They also absorbed the blue dye from my son’s jeans! This is a much nicer looking seat.

Very handsome hardware (I choose brushed nickel). I am hoping that the finish does not absorb urine like the Kohler seats. Time will tell. I’ll update in 6 months!.

Just what I wanted! I had purchased new toilets and the seats that came with them were ridiculous! Thin, plastic junk! These are solid and heavy! Just like the good old days!

we got a quiet-close seat from a big box store for the kids’ bathroom. It was a PAIN to install. Got this one from BBBY with our Plus membership for nice discount for our master bathroom. What a difference.

This seat installs extremely easy & quick, closes super slow and quiet, feels heavy and not like a cheap thin material. It feels like a premium item. I do note the image shows a ridge around the outer edge of the lid but the actual seat we received does not have the ridge.

That’s a minor inconsistency that does nothing against the quality and overall look of the seat. I also tested the feature to remove the seat cover for cleaning and it works easy enough – I hope it holds up and withstands the test of time/use.

This is the first time I’ve installed a toilet seat though I have adjusted my old one many times. The installation on this was not a breeze. I was reminded what my mechanic always says about “universal” parts.

They are a royal pain to work with and seldom fit exactly right. This one kept slipping up and down on the “adjustable” part while I tried to tighten the screws. There really should be a way to “lock” the placement of the adjustable part so it won’t do this but there was no mention of this in the instructions.

I got so frustrated I ended up with both sides not adjusted exactly the same. So it’s a little to one side but at least it’s not slipping like my old seat did. In addition, the instructions did not mention you would have to hold the bolt with pliars going counterclockwise while tightening clockwise from above with a wrench.

I am handy but any time it takes two hands on two different tools not so much! After over an hour (and a few choice words) I finally had this on. It works well and I like the slow close feature. It looks good, but would have bought a different version of the same brand that was non-adjustable had I known!.

This seat was delivered very quickly by WalMart. The handyman of our complex installed it quickly and easily (once he read the directions, silly boy). It cleans very easily and doesn’t stain as readily as our previous cover made of wood.

The plastic is also less porous, which improves sanitary risks. The “quiet, soft-close” is fantastic. We close the lid to control some of the bacteria in our home. It does feel a bit “thin” and for someone overweight I would recommend a stronger material.

But for my needs, it is perfect.

The seat looks nice, the measurements are perfect, it was easy to install. The seat cover fits perfectly. I chose this one because I like the look of the hinge covers. They are plain and smooth–easy to clean.

All the parts are plastic except for four washers. I used two of them (under the screws), but don’t know what to do with the other two. The installation chart doesn’t show them, but maybe experienced people would know this kind of thing.

Even with just two, the seat is very secure, very firm and works great.

This seat is exponentially better than the flimsy plastic garbage the builder used on the commodes. Need a place to sit while giving your toddler a bath? The lid will hold your weight. It’s not perfect because the hardware to attach it is plastic.

How long can that last? Otherwise, you will enjoy evacuating your bowels on this seat.

This seat is much longer, by about 2 inches, than the typical elongated seat. Looks out of place. I am not talking about comparing to the round size, but elongated seats, I feel. Their description of the item does not give this information.

If you want to return for this reason, the supplier will not pay for the return cost. So you end up spending almost the cost of the seat to return. I think this is very poor customer service.

It’s just a plank with a hole in it. Chamfered edges, otherwise completely flat. The hole is too small for larger people and it is very uncomfortable. I bought it because it wasn’t cheap, so expected more.

The threaded ‘bolts’ are far too long for most lavatories. The instructions recommend making then shorter with a hacksaw but this requires far too much skill from the average householder. It would cost peanuts to include a shorter set.

When i first saw this seat i thought this is made of plastic! On closer inspection i saw one or two knots, then i realised a lot of varnish layers had been applied to it. This is good as it will last for ages.

Once the new seat had been alligned it was easy to fit. The instructions are very good and clear with a good diagram as well. All the parts needed were there. This seat is well worth the money and i am glad i never went for the cheaper ones.

I highly recommend this seat. 5 *****.

This toilet seat was easy to install by a DIYer. It sits well on the toilet bowl and so far no issues with it. I would have given it 5 stars but only just installed it so maybe issues later.
