20 Best Wood Varnish Remover (2022 Updated)

I’ve tried just about every varnish stripper out there. This worked as advertised. Plus it did not have an overpowering odor. It worked quickly but still had considerable work-time if you couldn’t babysit your project.

On a well-used dining table taken out of our main cabin, I applied TotalStrip, covered it with coated paper I had on-hand and left it overnight. Nearly all the old varnish came off with one application.

A second spot-application was used for built-up varnish in corners. It didn’t raise the grain where I would notice. Followed up with a light sanding and have started varnishing.

My name is Jack Cantafio. I own The Wood Shoppe in Scranton Pa. We do custom design custom build wood working. Very recently we had the task of stripping and restoring a Stienway baby grand piano circa 1905.

After much searching I found Total Strip. I called customer support and talked to Mr. Tom Cory. Tom spent about 20 minutes explaining total strips proper use. We recieved delivery in 3 days and started using it.

Tom’s advice was spot on. The product worked better than I hoped , with no awful chemical smell. I would absolutely recommend total strip for your projects ,.

I bought this to strip an old faded boot stripe off of my fiberglass sailboat. I put plastic wrap over the stripper as soon as I applied it to keep it from drying out. Unfortunately, the consistency of the stripper makes it difficult to apply in a thick layer without it sliding down the side of the boat and when applied in a thin layer, it dried very quickly.

This was effective at removing several layers of paint at a go, but it did not remove the layers evenly. So after I had scraped off the stripper and loose paint, the surface was quite uneven from the stripper having gotten all the way through to the gelcoat in some spots but unable to get through 3-4 layers of paint in other spots.

This meant that even after I was done scraping the stripper off (which was quite difficult where it had dried), I still had a significant amount of sanding to do to smooth the surface out before priming for new paint.

I only used the stripper on the port side of the boat. When I do the starboard side next weekend, I plan to just use sandpaper and skip the stripper altogether because using it on the port side didn’t seem to have saved me any work.

Bottom line: this is a reasonably effective stripper but it is not going to save you from spending hours sanding. If you buy it with that in mind, you will be disappointed. If you buy it to remove paint from places where it is not possible or practical to sand the surface smooth, this product will work well for you.

Note that I did accidentally get some on my varnished teak bulwarks. It stripped the varnish off of the teak but does not seem to have damaged or discolored the teak in any way. It did not damage the gelcoat I put it on either.

I have wondered that thinning paints with (distilled) water would help with detail, and they do–with consequences. The paint just simply puddles up and the color clarity, and shift just obscures the purpose of painting–a good way to waste money.

I tested these with Golden HB paints, and just 1 drop (i use this pure, unmixed, since acrylic to begin is already partially water) in two thin dollops of paint, the paint feels like thick watercolor.

Of course, it tacks shortly after, if you wanted to add some slow dry medium, may just increase transparency a bit. I have yet to test with WN paints but I’d imagine it’d be even more fluid. Reminds me of the Golden high flow/fluid colors.

This is absolutely amazing and fortunately WN excels greatly in making quality artists acrylics. Thanks again, WN.

I bought this product to experiment with adding texture to my paintings. Very good product and works great. Am having a blast playing with it. When I received my shipment one of the products was damaged and the container broke during shipment.

I bought this for my Taurus G3C and it fits PERFECTLY! One gripe is that these are aluminum and painted black which are prone to scratches! I remedied this by removing the paint with sandpaper and it now looks fantastic! Makershot should actually produce these without painting them in my opinion! Pick one up if you want to accessories your “piece”!.

Excellent product for spraying on your brushes if they had caked-on latex paint. Let them soak for 15 minutes and wire brush the paint right off they come out like brand new. Sometimes in the summer time or even indoors when when your painting and latex paint pens to dry on the brush it can ruin the brush.

I found this product works very well in removing the paint over latex brush without harming the bristle I would strongly suggest it rather than struggling to clean brushes!.

I LOVE this product. Just spray on dried paint, leave a few seconds then wipe up with a rag or paper towel. I much prefer this to the Goo brand which left an oily film that was hard to clean up (took more time and effort than wiping up the dissolved paint).

Since I couldn’t find this product at Home Depot or Lowe’s, I bought the Goo latex paint remover–I’m taking it back tomorrow!.

It is great when a product does what it is advertised to do. I had latex paint on vinyl siding and had tried to scrape it off. I could see scraping would damage the siding. I found this product online.

I followed directions, simply sprayed it on, waited about 1 minute lightly scraped with a plastic putty knife. And wiped off with a paper towel. Great product !.

It did take a little to get used to the handle design and holding my brush differently but once I got going I absolutely loved it. My hand didn’t get the normal cramping and aching of my wrist so it allowed me to paint for longer periods without breaks.

The brush held the paint well and allowed me to cut in and keep a straight line. After my project was complete, the paint bristles seemed to clean easier than other brushes. Wonderful improvement!.

I got the “Klean Strip Kwik-Strip Paint Remover” a couple weeks ago for projects this spring. Weather has hampered the use of some projects and I wanted to test the product to be sure it is what I needed.

After reading the directions I headed for the garage. I found a one of my smaller projects and grabbed a 6”x6” piece of wood with many coats of paint. I applied the “Klean Strip Kwik-Strip Paint Remover” to the sample piece with a paint brush and left to set.

The time efficiency for the product to work gave me plenty of time to gather materials and tend to a few other things. Taking a 3” putty knife I started scrapping from the edge going with the grain to remove stripper.

To my surprise I found letting “Klean Strip Kwik-Strip Paint Remover” do its job made it easier for me to finish my projects in a matter of hours. I highly recommend following the directions especially when it comes to using in a well ventilated area.

I plan on using “Klean Strip Kwik-Strip Paint Remover” for a lot of projects as it does strip off varnish, metal, bricks, and is easily cleaned with mineral spirits. I do have some quartz rocks in my flower bed and will test it on this when the snow melts.

Klean Strip’s Kwik-Strip Fast Paint and Varnish Stripper worked very quickly on an antique cabinet I had wanted to refinish for awhile. This cabinet had some fragile areas that needed to be treated gently and this product worked great.

I only needed to use one application to remove 100 years of old paint layers and varnish to get to the bare wood. I did use this product outside as it is a stripper. I do like that this is a non-methylene chloride formula product for extra safety.

This was easy to apply and is extremely strong; the old paint and varnish just melted and sloughed right off in a few minutes. I still have plenty of stripper leftover for another project. I wouldn’t do a refinishing project without Klean Strip.

I couldn’t recommend this easy to find, easy to use, affordable, reliable, fast acting, great quality stripper more highly.

I’m extremely happy with the CITRISTRIP Paint and Varnish Stripping Gel. It’s fantastic that it doesn’t have any harsh chemical odors whatsoever. I’m very sensitive to strong chemicals and really can’t use any type of product with the fumes but it’s not a problem when using this.

It actually does have a pleasant citrus fragrance to it. That’s a huge game changer for me. I had wondered if the product actually worked though. Let me tell you, it works extremely well. I work on custom mosaics and alot of the time I have to prep the structure before hand that I’ll be laying the mosaic on.

Normally it’ll take alot of time in preparation to sand the structure by hand. This can be very time consuming for me. The CITRISTRIP takes all the elbow grease of sanding time out of it for me. It’s easy to use, just apply thin layer of the varnish onto the designated area and Viola! It’s really that easy.

All that’s needed is to wipe away from the surface and your good to go. Doesn’t cause any product build up. This is really the only needed varnish that you’ll need. Not to mention that you won’t have to sand for long periods of time and cause exhaustion in arms from long prepping time.

Really awesome to find a product that does exactly what it says it does. On top of working, the major second factor for me is that there’s no strong fumes from harmful chemicals. It’s a win win with this product, NICELY DONE CITRISTRIP!.

It took two applications to remove old blue glaze off of a white bathtub in a second bath room that the previous owners decided to do. I didn’t want to replace the whole tub and this was the next best thing to do.

I poured about half of it in the tub and used a brush to spread it evenly and get in all the little nooks to make sure it was covered. I left it overnight and the next day using a scraper, I started from one side and worked my way down.

There were some areas that were stubborn. I applied it a second time and let that sit overnight. Did the same the next day with the scrapper and this time it all came out. It was very effective at removing the old blue glaze and now I have a nice white bathtub.

It worked well in the flat areas and corners. You are working with a gel. Make sure to have all the correct tools on hand like the right size brushes, scrappers and plenty of paper towels and a garbage can near by.

Give the product time to WORK!! It can take up to overnight to break through and you might need to do it twice depending on what it is you are trying to strip. You can’t rush this process and always do a test area before you tackle a large area.

I really like the CITRISTRIP® Paint & Varnish Stripping Gel! I used it to strip several layers of paint off of an old dresser. I brushed on a heavy coat of CITRISTRIP® Paint & Varnish Stripping Gel and let it sit for a few hours.

The gel consistency made it easy to cover the front of the dresser with a heavy coat without running. It is easy to work with and smells much better than other paint strippers I have used. I started with a plastic scraper to remove the bulk of the paint.

I then added another coat of CITRISTRIP® Paint & Varnish Stripping Gel , let it sit for about an hour, and then used a plastic scrubbing pad to remove the remaining paint. I then used mineral spirits and an old towel to “cleanup” the residue and let it sit for a day before repainting it.

Be sure to wear chemical grade rubber gloves and eye protection! This CITRISTRIP® Paint & Varnish Stripping Gel smells good and works great! I recommend it.

I have this desk which I picked up by the curb, as a neighbor discarded it. It was paint in white latex, but I want it in its natural wood color. I took me three quarts of differents brands of paint remover, and sanding, and the whole summer to remove nearly the whole paint, however there were some impossible corners.

The paint was not the same, it looked more plastic. I was tired and wanted to finish this work. And I found Sunnyside remover. Today is December 19th, 32 °F (0 °C), we have snow and you can see it is really cold.

So the temperature is not the recommended for working, however it took two minutes to remove that paint from those difficult places. Finally I did it! The remover has a strong odor, like mineral spirits, work outdoors.

I was working in the screen porch (sanding is not good for pets) but this product is flammable and the maker recommend that. It is the only precaution I had. It was very easy to apply, is not liquid, is more like a gel, so it is great for vertical surfaces like mine.

I remove the paint with a paint scraper and the rest with a steel sponge.

I was doing a project at home to remove some paint and stain from an door. So I got a can of 2 minute paint remover so I tried it. I first tried it on a small section of the door and it did so well that I covered the rest of the door and it came off quick and easy.

Some sections of the door did take a little longer but what can a person expect, the remover was easy to pour and didn’t splash making a mess. But still when pouring, you do need to do it slowly and carefully.

The smell of the remover was not strong, I can stand a lot so this smell didn’t bother me. It didn’t last long for the smell to go away. I used rubber gloves with working with this product. It didn’t damage the door when I removed the paint from the door.

The little paint that was left on the door I just sanded it off. The 2 minute remover is a good product for a person with little patience. I will recommend this to my family and friends. The can removed a large square feet of surface.

It’s good that it don’t drip by being a gel.

My family always does a homemade Christmas gift exchange. This year I got a hold of an old window pane and I wanted to redecorate it farmhouse style. I had to first remove the old chipping lead based paint from it.

I figured I would give this stuff a shot and see if it worked. It did soften the paint a little but by no means was it a 2 minute miracle remover. I still had to chip and brush most of the paint off.

I’ve had others in the past that worked better. Maybe it’ll work better on other surfaces but getting the paint off the wood was definitely more of a task than using this and waiting 2 minutes. I’ll keep it around to use in the future to see if it’s more effective on metal as I have an old chair I’d love to redo.

These varnish and paint stripper discs are great for stripping varnish both lacquer and polyurethane. I wish they were available from European websites. They raise a lot of dust so wearing a mask is recommended.

Just be aware that there are single and double discs. If they are’ cheap’ they are likely to be the single disc and the packing has a slightly darker yellow colour. They are also great for removing stubborn glue residue and rust from tools.

I have used this item for many years, but it has become very hard to find and the cost has increased. I used to buy it from Walmart for $4. 00. It works great on removing calcium from pool tile and toilets bowls.

This was the best price I could find online for less than $10.

I have tried the satin and gloss versions of this varnish again and again due to certain advantages over traditional dammar varnishes (non-yellowing, easier to remove, etc). In some cases, the satin varnish specifically did apply nicely to some paintings.

In general though, the satin and gloss both have a very bad consistency that makes them streaky and form ugly puddles and splotches on paintings. The satin gives some paintings a grayish look, which is expected from the matting agent but definitely not ideal.

The gloss on the other hand is pretty severe – unlike the nice glow of a dammar varnish, it’s harsh and somehow still has a slightly grayish look to it. Neither formulation is good. I have tried again and again to get this varnish to go on nicely and am finally giving up.

This is despite having a very decent, soft synthetic brush that should be ideal for applying an even varnish layer. I think a dammar varnish is still superior to synthetic varnish, despite the known issues with it.

I’ve never had any issues applying it, and never needed to remove a layer to try to varnish a painting again. I strongly recommend trying a dammar varnish first and only switching to a synthetic if you really need a lower-gloss matt/satin finish, which I do still find preferable on some paintings.

I am a recent convert to water miscible oils. It did not occur to me that the mediums would also have a slightly different composition. Once I switched to water miscible mediums and linseed oil everything began to work properly.

It is so nice not to have a headache when I paint! There is a lack of information regarding amounts/percentages/ratios- that sort of thing- however the water miscibles are forgiving so play around until you find the amounts that work best for you.

This company does not carry all the mediums for miscibles ((HINT HINT)) so I purchased many of them elsewhere. The point is- if you use water miscible oils, use water miscible mediums/oils. Purists will say that you must use the same company- so if you only have Daniel paints then only use Daniel mediums.

I have not found this to be true- at least not yet. A word of caution- if you have a nut allergy make sure to read the labels. Lots of walnut oil in some- not all – of the water miscible products.

This oil medium is very consistent in quality and very modestly priced in the larger containers. The painting medium helps to reduce the tired dull white pasty-chalk look of many oil-based paintings by producing layers of various colors to bring a radiant, full color-seeing approach to the artwork.

The key is to not be in a hurry and keep adding layers of paint (often opposite and analogous colors before the final, semi-translucent layers) mixed with the medium, applying over a series of weeks/months.

Making the paint fat, brings a glow to the colors. In my years of using this medium, the oil has not noticeably yellowed, nor cracked, providing one places fat over lean. This is the only oil medium I use other than a true turpentine-based paint solvent.

The faint smell of the oil medium adds to the rich and inspiring feeling of being in an oil painting studio — but I use a solvent air cleaner in the studio to reduce any adverse health effects from mediums, solvents, and paint.

The other approach I use is to never use black and black/white to make grey– Monet used this approach later in his career. Grey is the kiss of death! Instead, use the colors applied in the painting to make neutrals and dark neutrals.

I use the oil painting medium when mixing colors — which means always because I never apply the raw color. Hazel Belvo from Minnesota, stresses the importance of mixing the colors within the painting to bring them into the same light.

IšverstiShow in original languageLiving in an old farmhouse with the original hardwood floors, I am mindful when painting. As careful as I am though, over the past 30 years there have been some paint “oops”.

I heard about this Goof Off paint splatter remover and thought I’d give it a try. I started with a small paint blob in the far corner of the living room just in case anything bad, I mean really bad went wrong.

After reading the Goof Off directions, I assembled everything I would need with some substitutions. Not going to lie, all the precautions unnerved me so I asked my husband if we had an extra hazmat suit lying around that I could use.

His response. a dramatic eye roll, so I took this as a “no we do not”. Alrighty then, I proceeded on with my task at hand, I must mention that I live in Upstate New York, it’s February and below zero degrees with the wind chill.

I then opened several windows, shut off my forced air furnace for fear of igniting vapors and put on my gardening gloves (a substitution). I applied the remover to the paint blob, then I waited 5 minutes for my kitchen timer to go off while thinking about all the horrible things that could go wrong.

After a long nerve wracking five minutes, I went to work scraping with an old plastic Play-Doh spatula (substitution). I am pleased with the results! Overall, the product worked exactly as promised. The paint blob is gone and the house and I are still standing.

Oh, a bit of floor stain is also gone but that’s on me for starting with the full 5 minutes and it’s an easy fix. I have since purchased chemical resistant gloves, a dozen plastic scrapers and a cute hazmat suit and am actively eradicating all remaining paint blobs in the house.

IšverstiShow in original languageI have used GO products in the past but this was the first time I used the paint splatter remover. I poured a bit of it on the yellow paint that splattered on my hardwood floor.

One splatter was about the size of a quarter and the other was much smaller. In both cases, the liquid started to bubble immediately. I was nervous that it might damage the floor so I only kept the liquid on for about two minutes.

Both spots scraped up cleanly and completely and the floor was unharmed. I then tried to get some paint spots off the workbench where my husband keeps his tools. The bench is painted red and the spots were white.

The paint remover removed the spots but also removed some of the red paint. So it will work on really old paint spots too but don’t use it on painted surfaces. Lastly I decided to go off use and put some of the liquid on insulation paper backing that had stuck to a cement floor.

I had to leave it on for the full five minutes but the paper scraped off the cement cleanly. Read the directions carefully because there are surfaces that will be damaged by this liquid. Like all the Goof Off products I have tried, the Paint Splatter Remover works exactly as advertised.

I was very pleased to have those annoying spots off my hardwood floor.

Seriously though, this product is the miracle that saved the wood floor in my son’s bedroom after he decided to paint the walls without covering or protecting any surface at all. Goof Off worked exactly as directed.

I left the product on the full 5 minutes and every single splatter spot scraped up easily. The whole floor (and desk, bookcase, and headboard. ) wiped clean. The smell isn’t exactly pleasant; but it’s not bad and is totally gone once wiped away.

So I’m a DIY type person and I’ve painted every wall, ceiling , cabinet, baseboard etc in my house. Also my daughter LOVES painting and has an art table that I couldn’t get her paint mess off of. I had bought some paint wipes from another website and they did NOTHING for my issue.

Scrubbing hard gets some paint off but it’s time consuming and with all I need to clean up , it’s a task I never got around to fully. Then I saw this product and thought I’d give it a try. What a difference! I just sprayed , waited a couple of minutes , used a Brillo pad to gently scrub , then cleaned up all up with a regular cleaning wipe and WOW.

My countertops are brand new and so is my daughters art table. No more paint splatter and even painted over corners are coming up without issue. It’s AMAZING. I don’t know why this product only has 4 stars.

I give it 6 stars and I’m not easy to please. Buy THIS if you are a messy painter like me and need to clean up a little mess here or there. It will make you look like a professional instead of a DIYer.

This is a review for a bottle of Goo Gone latex paint clean up, perfect for spills and splatters, 14. 8 oz. the bottle comes in a very sturdy packaging, made of super durable hard plastic with an ultra firm type of synthetic reinforced material so you can know it won’t crack or break despite the abuse it make take while cleaning or exposure to the elements.

It also has a great firm grip, which is needed while you are using it to handle your tough cleaning job. The chemical inside is truly special, able to cleanup the kind of stuff nothing else is able to.

It can clean up all kinds of the toughest stains, every type of paint imaginable from virtually any surface, including oil and enamel based paints, which are normally nearly impossible to get off. With this spray, you put it on and let it soak for a bit and then scrub, and you’ll find it coming right off.

This is what makes this product worth its price and why its a keeper in any household. I couldn’t recommend this product any higher, and think this is a must have for anyone who owns a home and may ever have a potential paint exposure inside.

You don’t want to risk serious paint damage on what you own and have no ability to clean it up quickly, but this is able to do just that, and without any real complications. Full marks on this product.

I craft as my hobby and sometimes the unexpected happens and mistakes are made. I use epoxy on tumblers, pens, coasters and more. Occasionally there is a mistake made that requires stripping the paint or epoxy off the product and starting over.

I use to do it another way but it took up to 3 days to get results so when I found this product I had to try it. This paint and epoxy remover can remover unwanted paint and epoxy from just about anything in very little time.

I tried it on removing paint and it worked quickly and mess free. Next I tried to remove epoxy from my workspace counter that I had dripped onto by accident and it removed the epoxy quickly. This is a great product for easy and fast results.

Its important to be very careful with working with strong product like this and should require gloves at all times.

We got this so we could strip the paint off our front door, it has like 4 layers of paint on it that’s peeling in certain spots. Now this stuff is pretty potent smelling so would definitely use it outside, u could use it inside but make sure there is good ventilation.

I still used a mask though cuz strong smells give me headaches. Since it’s freezing outside right now we just tested it out on a small section of the door, we let it set for like 30 minutes and by then you could see the paint coming off it and we didn’t have to use very much.

When it gets warmer this will definitely make the job easier and our door should look great. This is definitely my go to paint remover.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleI tried this on my basement tile, after some construction and manyyy messes, we had some weird residue from items that seemed to have broken and leaked on our tiles.

Our tiles are dark grey , and I tried the spray on a hidden corner with no residue first, to make sure it would not damage our basement floor. This is very important, especially if like ours, the stains and residue are in the middle(visible) floor.

I let the liquid sit a couple of min before scrubbing off residue in a circular motion. I waited for one area to dry and feel afterwards. One spray and clockwise (or counter) wipe worked on what I had going on.

May need more depending on the situation. Overall liked this product! 1 star taken off due to smell of the product, ended up wearing a mask , mostly because I was working in an enclosed space.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleI moved into a house where the kids were allowed to draw on ALL walls inside the house. I’m all for creativity BUT! IT’S ALL PERMANENT MARKER! I got some Goof Off to see what kind of magic it could perform.

It really works and it works good. Not only did it erase the PERMANENT marker but it also took out the 11 things of gum stuck to the carpet right out, and removed the scuff marks from the floors walls and ceiling.

yes there were scruff marks from shoes on the ceiling. One warning, there was latex paint in the bathroom and wherever I cleaned the wall with this product the wall became very sticky and stayed that way, so beware using it on surfaces and do a spot test.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleI tried Goof Off Marks, Messes and Stains remover. I tried it on a couple of things. The first was off glass that had a price tag on it and left a sticky residue.

I sprayed Goof off on the residue and i let it sit for one minute like the directions say and I easily wiped it off with a paper towel. I didn’t have to scrub or anything. It came off with one wipe. The second thing i used Goof Off on was scuff marks on my back door.

There were quite a few of them so i sprayed a little more all along the bottom of the door. On the scuff marks I only had to wipe it twice and it all came off a wood painted back door. I can’t wait to try this product on other messes that i find around my house.

I will totally use this alot.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis is a fantastic product that is both versatile and user-friendly. It indeed has a very low odor, which is crucial especially when working in confined indoor spaces.

The solution is strong and effective. Like many, I intended to use it primarily as a paint and stain thinner— and it performs beautifully as such during my recent home improvement projects. It also did a stellar job tackling those dirty paint brushes and unintended paint splotches/spills.

However, I’ve since expanded to using it for other purposes. It is amazing for getting off those pesky price stickers without leaving a tacky mess! Just pour a small amount onto a towel and wipe off the residue! I’ve also used it to remove gunky residue from garden tools with great success.

I can’t wait to see what else I can do with it. Great product that I would happily recommend!.

IšverstiShow in original languageMineral spirits is something I keep on hand for multiple uses. It’s not just for cleaning up painting equipment when using oil based paints, although that certainly one of the more common and best use.

I also use it to prep and clean surfaces to remove any grease or oils. Mineral spirits is different from paint thinner in that it is more refined so there’s less odor and less residue left behind. It’s also useful to remove the sticky residue from labels and tags as well as cleaning garden tools, especially those that come in contact with tree SAP.

Once you clean something with mineral spirits you can then clean it with regular soap and water. For general household use mineral spirits is the one you want not paint thinner.

Its practically odorless, unless you have a very good sense of smell and stick your nose very close to the solution. I primarily use this for thinning artists oil paint. I also use it for spot removal for stains that soap and water wont clean, such as glue or paint stains.

The solution is milky white and kind of foamy, so in that regard its not like other low-odor turpentine substitutes. When using this in a jar to clean brushes the paint pigments or particles get suspended in the solution rather than dissolve, so the solution gets quickly murky.

After a period of use the solution viscosity increases, I suppose because of added paint in the solution. This consistency may not be a functional problem, but it just doesnt feel and look good to clean brushes in a liquid that seems murky and rather syrupy.

After I cleaned some brushes I let the solution sit undisturbed in the jar for a while to see if the paint particles settle down and the solution appears white again. No, it doesnt. So, the product works as advertised, but my 4-star rating is because I think the regular (not Green) low-odor Klean Strip turpentine substitute works better.

Smells terrible. I am a first time buyer and it didn’t help whatsoever so I will not be repurchasing. I was very disappointed. It barely works and once again, smells terrible.

Great when stripping the paint off of a chair recommend it was a last minute decision to get the strip off but was very happy with results

Very disappointed as I had previously used the Beanedoo (Now BlueBear) Mastic remover and it worked like a charm. I applied a thick layer of the Blue Bear 600GL to my painted patio and it did absolutely nothing.

Didn’t even touch the water based paint. I had some 30% vinegar that removed the paint better than the 600GL. Additionally – this product is supposed to be less toxic than other finish removers but the smell is terrible (even using outside) and gave me a headache.

I was amazed at how effective this product was in removing six coats of paint from two doors — and it is “safe. ” I had never heard of a paint stripper that was not extremely hazardous. When working on small patches, it was very easy to focus and to coax the paint off.

When working on large areas, I followed the suggestion to cover the wood with heavy plastic where I had applied the gel. It made a big difference in keeping the gel soft.

No smell, will not stop working if wet, the only way to stop it is with soap and water. Works in 30 degree temperature. During the winter with little heat it stripped 4 layers of paint from a car then dripped onto my epoxy painted floor and eat it through to the concrete.

We are working on restoring a home built in 1900. We were needing to remove paint from old hinges. I brushed on the paint and epoxy remover and let it sit for about 15-20 minutes and was able to scrap off the paint easily.

It is very nice to use, being brushable and it clung to the hinges and did not run off. Next we tried it on an old cabinet door, same method of brushing it on and letting it sit. After letting it sit, I took a scraper to it to remove the paint.

There were several layers so it took a few times but took it all off. Clean up is easy since it is water rinseable.

I got this Jasco premium paint and epoxy remover to refinish some old furniture someone had painted. The furniture looked like it had about 2 layers of different color paint on it. This Paint remover took it off in minutes and I was also able to wash it off with no issues.

No sludgy sticking or anything. Probably one of the best I have tried. It didn’t have a real strong smell either so that’s a plus. I would recommend this.

After trying several different paint/stain strippers we tried this one. The majority of our job was vertical posts & slats on a porch with raw cedar posts. This stuff works amazing. We were able to apply the amount we needed in and work in smaller sections without having to wait several minutes for it to do its job.

It started worked on softening the old dark stain immediately. Using small brass wire brushes, the old stain came off with ease. Even using a putty knife in corner areas or flat smooth areas by simply dragging the putty knife across it instead of pushing the knife across it, the old stain came off with ease.

This stuff is very watery, but once you start to apply it, it starts gelling as the liquid runs down the post a few inches. Almost turns into a gelatin like texture. Hardly had any drips, but still used a tarp beneath everything anyway to catch the scraped off old stain being removed.

We will gladly use this stuff again.

The antique furniture stripper works better than any stripper I have tried. It is impossible to find in stores so I was so happy to find online through this distributor! Product was exactly as described and well packaged.

I will definitely be ordering again.

The remover is the best. I strip a lot of funiture and have found Kutzit to work very well. With that said I ordered three and received one. The shipping and price for three was worth it, but when they only shipped me 1 it was not worth it,.

I was not given the choice of rejecting the order they just canceled two of them and shipped one. When I ordered they stated all three were in stock.

It is a thin product and acts differently removing different finishes. Need to work on small areas at a time, but it does the trick and pieces sometimes don’t even need need to be stained after stripping.

Just polyurethane and it’s done. Again, love this stuff!.

I have used it for years.. It is one of the best strippers. Read the instructions! Wear protective clothes/gloves. Provide adequate ventilation.
