20 Best Wool Duvet Insert (2022 Updated)

I ordered this duvet for my 21 month old son who has seemed unable or unwilling to learn how to use a blanket at night. We bought this duvet in the hopes that by mimicking Mom and Dad’s “covers,” he would either understand or have more interest in using it.

For a duvet, we wanted it to be organic and responsibly sourced, and this was a great option. It worked like a charm, and my son now uses the duvet for every nap and night time sleep. It’s comfortable, lightweight, and well-made.

The only downside is that I CANNOT find a duvet cover that matches its dimensions. Because the duvet is not washable, I’m very concerned as to how to keep it clean. The duvet fits the crib perfectly but I think it should be a little wider on the long ends (i.

e. it’s got the same footprint as the crib mattress, not enough fabric to fall over the sides of the mattress).

When I recently discovered that I am allergic to 23 allergens (most notably dust mites) I had to completely modify my environment. This included buying a new latex bed, organic wool and cotton bedding, an air purifier, and various other necessities.

I purchased wool comforter upon the recommendation of Mike (who is very knowledgeable about all of the Allergy Store items) and I could not be more pleased! It has the most incredible smell and the quality is unbelievable!! I purchased the organic cover to protect it and it fits perfectly!.

Hi Mike, We love our new wool comforters. They are just the right warmth. Less tossing and turning than with the down one. The anti dust mite covers are also very nice and very well made. They are soft, you can sleep in them.

I loved the blanket when I got it out of the bag and on the bed, just checking it out. I washed/dried the blanket as instructed on the care label. It did say washing could cause the filling to bunch, the way it was written, I thought that bunching could/would happen after several washings.

Unfortunately after the first wash and dry the blanket not only bunched around the edges, it shrunk and no long fit the bed as before it was washed. I have returned the item and now on the hunt for a light weight blanket that will do well in the laundry.

I was looking for a multi-season comforter because my down ones are too hot for summer. This wool one is very comfortable and heats up much faster than the down. So, as soon as I pull it up, it feels warm but then does not continue to build heat over the course of the night.

After going through many comforters; some were not warm enough, some were too warm and some just not fitting our king size bed and also wanting something as comfortable as the sleepsacks that our baby uses, we bought this.

It is such a great comforter. I’m really glad we bought it. With our old comforters, I would use one or two extra blankets and my partner would use one. But this comforter is all we need. No extra blankets.

I will say one thing though, the sheets are also important. Our previous nice jersey sheets make it too warm for us, but bamboo sheets are nice and cool and compliment the comforter nicely in the summer here.

I have never once written an online review for ANYTHING. That changes today so that I may sing the well-deserved praises of Woolino. Product, company, customer service are unparalleled in their excellence.

The comforter is phenomenal. Keeps me the perfect temperature. It’s beautiful, too. And, very well-crafted. Ethically sourced, too. This is the first new comforter I’ve ever bought. Ordered it after much research.

It was delivered. And, somebody stole it from my front stoop before I got home! (I live in a big city). I was heart-broken. I contacted Woolino and we waited for a day or so in case the package had been incorrectly reported as delivered by the delivery service.

(That happens). Within 2 days of it not showing up, Woolino re-sent one to me!! This was such great and amazing customer service. What a great company. I was worried that I was just out of luck. I’d like to give a special “shout-out” to Elizabeth who helped me with the issue on the phone.

She’s just spectacular! And, before I had even ordered the comforter to begin with, I’d called Woolino asking questions about the care, etc. None of my questions were seen as silly or a waste of time.

I am so happy with my whole Woolino experience. And, can’t recommend them enough. I have been telling all my friends that THIS is the comforter. Also, it is extremely affordable. It is priced well below all the cruelty-free, organic cotton, wool comforters that I’d been painstaking researching.

After decades of prioritizing quality bedding in hopes of achieving a perfect night of sleep; after decades of rotating summer-weight and winter-weight goose-down comforters seasonally; my recent switch to a Woolino wool comforter feels life changing.

Wow! I have NEVER slept better than I sleeping now. I’m NEVER too hot or too cold or too weighted down or not weighted enough, I’m just blissfully asleep. I now wake up each morning more refreshed and invigorated than I’d ever imagined possible.

First, despite what is said, we did not buy the black and red one. We bought the blue and gray one. I washed it and dried it. Despite claiming to be quick drying, we had to dry it four times before it was dry enough to put on the bed.

Also, I don’t believe the measurements to be accurate. Placed one way, it would barely cover the top of a king size bed (72 inches). Placed the other way, it hung over the sides a few inches. But there is no way that this comforter is 104 ” X 90″.

In fact, I think they may have sent me a queen size by mistake. If so, I am really upset because we paid for a king size. (I just measured it. It’s 98″ X96″, definitely NOT WHAT WE ORDERED. ) As far as softness, it is mildly soft, but not anywhere what we expected after reading the other comments.

Either they sent the wrong one, or other buyers do not understand the concept of softness.

It is much heavier and hotter than I expected. Was surprised by weight when I got it. Though was in standard comforter plastic carrying case, inside that it was in sort of vacuum packed thing that hissed when I cut it open and then comforter sort of inflated.

After putting it in cover placed it on top of blanket already on bed. But was way too hot. Had to get up in middle of night to remove blanket. Even without blanket had trouble getting comfortable. Maybe takes time.

If you live way out in country in drafty old house and like to turn heat off at night, this may be for you. But if you are in city apt building it may be too much, even with windows open. Also keep in mind that putting cover on one of these is like dressing in layers — air is trapped between layers and it gets warmer.

I think I would prefer a lighter weight comforter. However, I wouldn’t suggest using this one without cover as will get dirty very quickly. From what I saw if before I put it in cover it looked like it was decently made.

Haven’t washed it and don’t intend to for year or so, which is why it has a cover. When I bought this I really wanted a less expensive Target brand one that looked lighter, but it was out of stock. If you think you might want a lighter weight one, I suggest taking a close look at Target brand items first.

I ordered this comforter just 2 days ago, from Target, it was supposed to come this Wednesday January 26. It came yesterday! I was so excited. This oversized King is perfect, it comes down over my box spring and lands a couple inches from the floor.

The color is perfect and oh so warm and soft! I highly recommend this beautiful comforter! My only concern now is when I wash it, it definitely won’t fit in my washing machine, the laundromat it will be.

So worth it to have finally found the perfect correct size King comforter!.

I had one, but the old size does not fill out current duvet covers well. Seems everything is getting bigger, plus we’d prefer a little wider duvet for us and for our guest room. Also, freshness, but there is not a single thing wrong with my original.

Will have it cleaned and use as a spare. I don’t see anything different with the two new ones, other than size and colour. They use to be natural, I bleached cotton. Looking forward to another twenty years of comfort!.

I was given this comforter as a gift and i absolutely love it. I usually prefer a goose down comforter and decided to give this one a try when i received it. I have not been disappointed at all with the quality and how comfortable it is.

It has plenty of fluffiness and the fabric itself has a buttery softness. I highly recommend getting this product if you are looking for a new comforter.

This is the perfect size for a king bed. Most duvets/comforters are too small to completely cover the mattress all the way around, this is perfect. Nice weight, breathable. Never get too hot or too cold.

I love it! I bought a linen duvet cover for this and it looks beautiful.

My husband and I are both very happy with this purchase because it keeps him cool and me warm. I used to always put extra throw on my side as I get cold in the morning but with this blanket, we are both happy.

I’ve been using a very old down comforter that was a hand-me-down from my mom. It was nice, but definitely run down. I bought this to replace it, and I love it so much! It’s warm without being too hot, and it has a nice weight to it that makes it feel luxe and cozy.

I imagine I’ll be using this for many years to come.

This Duvet is sooooooooo comfortable,feel like cloud. Not heavy but still so warm and looks good too. But when i opened this duvet box, I could smell some kind of old storage smell. like huminity+storage smell.

maybe this product stay long time in storage? And when i open package, same smell even Duvet too. Maybe Duvet socked this bad smell. I really wanted to try right away so im using now but smell didnt gone yet.

Need more special care when u guys keep this stuff in storage.

This is our first organic cotton pure down comforter. It is like nothing from the past. This product doesn’t need fluffing. And it smells divine, because it’s real, Just the beauty of nature at work.

The feel of the cotton is so soft and so fine that I’m tempted to keep it out of the cover. Truly an inspired product, with attention to the details of construction, the stitching is also top notch. The blanket, most importantly, keeps us warm.

The loft is perfect and we have noticed that sleeping is more restful since we made the change to this new comforter. it’s easier to maintain the right temperature while we sleep I Thank you for providing your customers with superb quality, organic cotton and down comforters.

Great product and a comfy sleep. However, the down leaks/pills and gets everywhere when you take the duvet cover off so be ready to vacuum. As in, it always makes a huge mess when I take change the duvet cover when it’s time to dry clean it, down EVERYWHERE.

I received my Plushbed comforter, and I am happier than I imagined I would be when I bought it, and I was pretty happy then! The quality and craftsmanship is apparent in every detail: weight, feel, fit, and comfort.

I wake easily, and often, if I get hot but also sleep better with covers heavier than just the weight of a sheet. Easy to get that balance off. My Plushbed comforter meets that balance perfectly. Enough weight but not heavy and yet it breathes so I am not hot and don’t wake.

This is my 2nd purchase from Plush, soon my whole bedroom will be Plush’d out! The comforter shipped faster that I expected even with a supply shortage. It smelled sooo fresh out of the packaging. It is warm during the cool nights and light enough for the warm, I don’t use it (or anything) on especially hot nights.

Is a natural cream color. Something special—the tag has a hand written date of when it was made. The only thing I would change – I wish at shipping I could opt out of the plastic bag and get a recyclable tissue paper lining instead.

This comforter is very well made and beautiful. I bought it because I had read that wool comforters are heat regulating. I bought PlushBed brand because of the reviews confirming this claim and I own a fabulous PlushBed mattress.

For me the comforter IS NOT heat regulating. I’m as hot as ever. I have purchased a nice set of percale sheets, wear100% cotton pajama top, and keep the doors to my bedroom ajar. Unfortunately, my comfort is no different than with my inexpensive cotton covered poly quilt.

Love that it’s organic New Zealand wool. Perfect flat/ lightweight feel. Feels like a heavier quilt, not like a comforter. Just what I wanted for AZ “winter”

It’s soft, cozy, and warm without being too hot, and doesn’t feel heavy at all. I have only one complaint about it: it makes it very, very hard to get up in the morning because I have to get out from under it to do that.

We like to sleep with weight and we weren’t sure when it seemed so light, but when you get under it it’s nothing but luxuriousness that envelopes you. It’s perfectly weighted to feel snug and secure, but not heavy like wool blankets that we wrestled with before the duvet when trying to simply turn over.

I recently bought a new bed (frame, mattress, linens) and kind of went all out in putting it together (Thuma, Avocado, Coyuchi), and when it came to the duvet insert, I sort of toiled between all the different top inserts according to, e.

g. Wirecutter and TheSpruce. They all seemed to recommend Brooklinen and Feathered Friends. I grew up with Company Store bedding, and in my earlier years had moved to LL Bean. In all honesty, for this search, I wanted to find a great insert that was a good match for the Coyuchi duvet cover dimensions, and a lot of the finalists, including Parachute, were off by a few inches.

So between the quality of Parachute for the price, and the match in the dimensions with my Coyuchi cover, it all worked out. I’ve been sleeping with it for a few weeks now (in SF during the June weather), and it’s been a perfect match.

I think this one is underrated by some of the review blogs; you get the quality of the Feathered Friends/Coyuchi with a slightly better price; you’re not compromising on the quality/sustainability like I think you might with another brand, especially other DTC ones.

We own two of these duvets, along with Parachute’s corresponding sheets, pillows, and covers for both our master and our son’s room. While it functions fine, this duvet insert is too small for both the king and full sized duvet covers we purchased from Parachute, to the extent that there’s at least a foot of extra fabric hanging off both the end and one side when the insert is lined up with the seams.

Upon contacting customer service, we were informed they use bigger dimensions to make their bedding (direct quote) “extra luxurious”, which quite frankly, is a ridiculous response. It’s not “luxurious” to have extra fabric caught around your legs when trying to sleep, or to wake up in the morning with 6 inches of empty duvet cover up top because everything migrated down overnight (despite using the ties).

For something that is supposed to be a more premium product, I would expect better attention to detail and quality control when designing product lines that are supposed to work together. As it stands, we’re looking at having a seamstress cut down the duvet cover to actually fit the insert properly, which should have never been necessary.

Not at all impressed with this lightweight insert. Was hoping to love it since we spent close to 600. 00 for the insert and duvet cover set. It is way too hot for us already here in NJ in April. Was hoping to use this during warmer months.

Also, it is so heavy in weight which you can mostly feel on your feet while sleeping on your back. The weight is actually uncomfortable and bends your feet down. Duvet cover already has pulls/snags after just a couple days of use.

I went by ratings and every time I would click to continue reading reviews the page has an error and says Oops something went wrong. You basically see all the positive reviews.

I shopped all over – in local stores and online – to try and find a good quality replacement (an upgrade) from our previous duvet that was falling apart after 15 years. I’m usually cold and my husband is always hot so it wasn’t easy.

On top of that, I really hate returning items after purchase, especially expensive purchases. I wanted to get it right the first time. I took a chance with Coyuchi because of their reputable brand. I’m so glad I did! We couldn’t be happier or more comfortable.

Since our purchase, about 2 weeks ago, we’ve had warm evenings and cool evenings (San Francisco weather) and so far, it has served us well. We are not disappointed, only hopeful that we can catch a sale for some linen sheets and covers.

Fantastic sleeping under this beaut. I was surprised at how light it was even though it’s the heavier option. Perfect for all seasons imo but I sleep cold and like having weight.

I had done a lot of research into finding the right duvet insert and had heard great things about Tuft and Needle. Overall the packaging and customer service was wonderful. I appreciate the fact that they ship items separately if needed rather than vacuum sealing and compressing everything into one box.

Likewise, the customer service team were excellent to talk with when returning. As far as the comforter itself, the weight and feel of the comforter was great but what really ruined it was the sound.

I know there were other customers who had similar complaints, but I kept an open mind when purchasing. Unfortunately, the reviews were true. As soon as I took it out of the bag I knew it was going to be a problem.

The alternative fill makes a rustling noise not dissimilar to a plastic tarp. This flaw is kind of hard to ignore and would make it impossible to sleep under as a light sleeper.

I was looking for a lightweight duvet insert that would fill my Queen Duvet covers. Why don’t companies tell you to order a insert bigger than the cover and instead always suggest a pairing that doesn’t work or look like the photo? I have a closet full of duvets that don’t fill my covers! Anyway, I digress.

🙂 I purchased this as it stated oversized, so I hoped that if I bought a King it would fill my Queen covers. It did pretty much–doesn’t completely fill some of them, but the best option I have found so far.

Since I use this inside a cover, I can’t fairly state how cool it sleeps as the cover adds warmth. With a cover, it is too warm most of the time (I sleep warm and with the windows open for 9-10 mos a year (Seattle) but I still like it and kept it and it would be much cooler of course if used alone.

I bought this Alternative Lightweight Insert almost 4 months ago. At first I did notice the “loud,” “crinkly” sound. I thought I may not like it, and compared it to another lightweight comforter of another brand (mostly to compare the weight).

I immediately knew that I loved the lightweight part of the Tuft and Needle insert. My husband and I sleep really hot, even in the winter with our heat off in the room, and this duvet insert is perfect.

I rarely get warm, but am definitely not cold! It’s perfect! It turns out, the sound of the insert is very minimal and not bothersome at all. In fact, to me, I feel like I’m in a nice hotel bed and would prefer to stay there! We purchased the oversized king and I love the way it falls low on either side.

I love everything about this duvet! Afterward, I purchased the cotton percale duvet cover and shams. It is so crisp and adds to the feeling of a luxury hotel bed. Great purchase and worth the money for sure.

I live in Chicago so for the majority of the year it is chilly more so than it is hot, so the mid weight seemed to be the best option. It is very warm. When I first received it towards the end of summer it was actually a little too warm, but our room is pretty cold so it kind of offset it.

Received it quickly, very good quality, and warm. No complaints really!I would note that we do use this inside of a duvet cover and it appears a little lumpy, and that’s just because of how it’s all sectioned off.

needed a queen sized duvet insert that was NOT down (due to allergies). There aren’t a lot of choices, but this one seemed to fit all the requirements. Upon delivery, even happier as this insert is soft, warm for winter nights and does not weigh much.

Don’t care for the feeling of heavy blankets and this almost feels like it floats on you. The overall size fits our European duvet. some inserts are slightly small compared to the European duvet size (Sferra, Frette, Bloomingdales’ Hudson Park).

When small, the bag is loose and the corners inevitably have no comforter. Great customer service and assistance in the purchase and follow up on the delivery date. Thank you Wayfair.

I was a bit skeptical when I ordered this product because it was so inexpensive. When it came I was very pleasantly surprised. It irons perfectly and was the perfect size. It really does give the bed a more complete look.

I have been sleeping with this insert for over 18 months. I bought a Queen size insert & a Queen size duvet cover. I was very disappointed to see, upon delivery, that the insert did not come with loops for keeping it in place.

This seems like such a basic function of a duvet insert, I will never understand why this was left out of the design. I sewed my own on & placed in inside the Monterey duvet cover. Right away the insert was so small, there were several inches of empty space around the inside edges of the duvet cover.

Over time the wool insert has shrunk substantially & does not fit AT ALL inside this duvet cover. I have washed the duvet cover several times over the past 18 months but never washed the wool insert out of fear of it shrinking even more.

I read some other reviews that mention washing the insert & it basically destroying it. I would love this insert if it was snuggly fit & held in place inside of a duvet cover. But as it is, with no loops & too small for the coinciding covers, then add the shrinkage problem, I would not recommend this product.

This is my second purchase of this wool insert. It feels lovely- like being enveloped in a cloud. Our bedroom & our guest bedroom both have one. I’ve outfitted our home with all things natural & organic, so though this is an investment I love that it’s wool + GOTS certified cotton (a certification I look for – that or Oeko-Tex).

It’s medium weight. and though a bit warm for our Southern California summers we still love to use it. just kick it off as needed throughout the night. The only downside is neither my husband or I want to get up for work in the morning because the bed is so cozy we want to stay bundled up! My mom visited & slept so well she asked where to buy it.

It’s not as heavy as the product description implies. It’s rather thin and light but it’s warm enough and cozy in Michigan April temperature. We contacted the customer service many times trying to find out the actual wool weight of this comforter.

We wanted to make comparisons to other brands’ similar wool comforters where only wool weights were provided. But Coyuchi could give us only the total weight (wool batting and cotton shell) of 8 lbs.

for the queen size. When we opened our bag and held it, we couldn’t believe it weighed 8lbs. So we carefully weighed it ensuring that our scale was accurate by holding and weighing a 30-lb kettlebell first.

The comforter weight was 6. 4 lbs. !!! No wonder it felt light. I hope Coyuchi will give accurate products specs in the future as they are very crucial information when we shop through online website where we can’t see and feel the products.

This blanket is magic. That’s the only explanation. I purchased the lightweight after reading the reviews- even though I live in the frozen tundra (Wisconsin). The cover is made is the softest cotton ever created.

I don’t even have a duvet cover on it. And it’s seriously the only blanket I use now. It’s instant warm- it’s not hot- it just seems to perfectly regulate your body heat. It isn’t loud when you move or feel crunchy from feathers.

It’s just soft and warm and absolutely perfect. You won’t regret it!!.

we have never experienced such genuinely caring and patient service from a store and the beds/bedding/bed frames are awesome! the duvets are heavenly! unless you are a very cold person, I would recommend the cool comforter over the perfect as you can always layer up.
