20 Best Wool For Felting (2022 Updated)

Rated Really nice for quality only because I was given other wool that wasn’t so fine, so this was a little harder to work with and took more to get the same coverage. Rated Solid value because the one other online retailer I looked at was a little higher, but I am not sure how that wool would have felt.

Very fine wool, I purchased the woodsy and bright. I think those were the names. it was a good deal of wool though.

This wool is very clean and very smooth, nice quality. It comes in a variety of colors. I found it very easy to needle felt and will probably order again. Thanks Blick’s for always offering another great product at reasonably prices, plus fast and careful shipping!.

I just want to say that I love this wool yarn. I bought the primary colors and ended up buying the other colors in earth, pastels, and woodsy. I love the wool painting instructions and have made a few pieces of art with it.

So easy to use. I’m glad they were included on the website. Also, the colored yarn is very vibrant. I can’t wait to make more.

I enjoy working with this roving. It is soft and smooth and combines well with other roving while keeping it’s lines clean. I am new to felting but I like the way this roving comes together in a project.

Dimensions wool has always been a huge disappointment. constantly tangled and there’s so many foreign matter clumps & balls that it’s not worth the time it takes to make it usable. if you’re willing to spend hours recarding and washing out the wool it might be half useful but as it stands it’s just an awful product.

if you are serious about your projects STAY AWAY from dimensions. you can get the same stuff higher quality from local sellers.

Decent bulk wool for my needle felting crafts. I wanted black only but the white can be used for filler. I do not know much about the quality compared to other wool.

I bought this wool roving not knowing what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised! The colors are vibrant and it is soft to the touch. It is a great value for the price! I had browsed other websites for wool roving and I was so happy I found this package and many other colors here!.

Omg. My second pack, knowing full well the first was pretty bad already, but since I use low quality to make my mocks and tests, I figured, why not? Well, here’s why this should be off the market. Apart from the debris of organic materials such as dead leaves and stuff, it goes with the poor quality territory.

But when I find a piece of plastic and then a dead tick mixed in with the wool, I had to first calm my gag reflex down and then calm my panic down! I’m so terrified that there might be a live tick inside my house, I couldn’t help but throw it all out! Disgusting and appalling.

This company has no regard for its customers and the fact that Michaels carries such a horrible product is enough for me to reconsider buying anything from Michaels at all. What a waste of money. What a disappointment in Michaels.

This stuff is awful. It is curly and coarse and gnarly with all kinds of junk embedded in it. It doesnt even remotely relate to quality roving wool. No way to comb it straight. Hard to dig the junk bits out of fibers.

Not even sure it really is wool except for the label. Dont expect to do high quality felting with this stuff. The ONLY thing its good for is MAYBE as the core of other felting projects and even then youll have to make your own conclusions as to whether the junky bits inside are just plant particles or bug parts.

YUCK! Polyester fiberfil would do the same cores without wondering what the gunk in it is. Order the good stuff and, especially if you are a beginner, dont base your felting experience on this roving.

It makes everything hard to do.

As i venture into yet another craft, I found that Dimensions has a whole line of products for Needle Felting. And since the reason this interest started was a book on how to create needle felted dogs and cats, these colors are perfect! No need to hunt for each color in roving wool, there’s a neat little package of them ready to go.

This was exactly what I was looking for. I wish my local Michaels in the Glen Ellyn area of IL carried needle felting materials, but they don’t. More locations need more of this sort of stuff.

I use the wool roving for needle felting and it works great. I love the colors and the price is affordable. Will definitely buy again.

Really liked the bright colors, but the wool itself was not the best quality and still had bits of debris here and there. It worked fine for the project I was doing so not a loss.

This is not for beginners. No paper instructions. The only directions were in a QR code, to accidentally run into on the box. Lots of alum; small paint jars,ox gall unlabelled. i looked for directions elsewhere.

Great roving to use for needle felting projects. The colors are vivid and true to the images shown online. I needed black for an orca whale project I was working on, and ended up ordering a bunch of other colors as well.

Good wool for my cosplay purposes. Was making a wig with a shaved side to it and felting this wool into the side helped make the wig more believable.

This wool is garbage. If you’re using this as a core wool for a needle felting project, there are plenty of better quality alternatives for less or equal the same price as this low quality product. Just do a simple search on any website other than this one.

This wool has debris and hay that must be picked out as you work on your project which can get very annoying.

Very nice wool. I just started recently and this has been very easy to work with. There is occasionally leaves or dirt in it, which is natural for wool but there hasnt been too much. Its a very nice quality and ive loved using it on my projects.

This states that it is 2. 2 lbs assembled in the description. This does not even weigh one pound. I thought for sure there would be multiple packages of 1. 76oz wool to make it, even with packaging to 2.

2 lbs. I was very wrong. This is expensive for the quantity.

I bought this to help my bird friends build their nests this Spring. I tore little pieces up and clipped them to the clothesline, not far from my feeder, where they could be collected by passing birds.

If you are planning to do the same, make sure it is 100% un-dyed wool, free from chemicals.

I needed this for an unusual project, which was to repair a tear in a wool felt covered mallet. I was able to unwrap the roving and add a thin layer all around the mallet and use my needle felting tool to attach the new wool to the old wool directly.

Usually this repair would be made by stitching the felt back together with thread, and the percussionist would avoid using that spot on the mallet to hit the drum, but because wool felts together there was no thread needed and no weak spots on the mallet.

The color matches perfectly, and the wool felted just great with the old felt.

Purchased the felt in several different colors. The width is about a quarter of an inch. No fraying on cut edges. Holds shape. I used the felt to create hand-stitched ornaments. Great for my project! Would have bought more, if there weren’t supply chain issues this past year, which kept some colors out of stock.

High quality felt; easy to work with, looks great when glued down. Thick enough that you don’t see glue spots. However, the price point is still a bit high for the small amount you get.

I’ve spun about 8 ounces and dyed 4 ounces so far. Easy to draft, no noils or sticky spots. Almost no VM, very pleased with the cleanliness. 3 1/2″ staple, blooms quite a bit with wet finishing. Takes dye easily and didn’t felt.

Product is as perfect as it could be. Just a pleasure to use for my hand knitting.

Roving came quickly and as described. Dyed up nicely and plan to spin some in an espinner!

Loved the brightness of the colors, as well as the high quality of the wool. My daughter and I enjoyed making little needle felted ducks, and plan to make a wet felted mat. I highly recommend this packaged wool roving for both needle felting and wet felting.

It is one of the best kits, and I plan on ordering all the other colors.

The wool is soft and vibrantly colored. It is very nice to work with. I have purchased roving at another source that was quite rough in comparison to this. My son, 3. 5, enjoyed pulling off wisps of color to give to me while I needle felted ornaments.

He also enjoyed gluing wisps of roving to card stock to make holiday cards. My 10 year old is able to use this to needle felt on the felt pieces and is enjoying creating his own ornaments. This is a great kit for adding detail.

We are also planning on using scraps to felt some clothes and add beards//hair to peg dolls.

This is my favorite yarn. Great colors, does not pill and is light weight but warm. The color choices are fabulous. I have used it in many projects and my latest where I used the full color choices to make a fun colorful sweater at the end of the winter blah’s.

I am currently working on another with this yarn in black and bright royal blue. Each of these colors have fleckings of white/blue/beige which adds dimension to the end effect.

I am making the Cocoknits sweater Toni pattern with this yarn. I was able to get gauge with holding the yarn doubled. It knits up quite easily. It is the first time using a felted yarn so I was a little apprehensive but it looks very nice and I am looking forward to finishing the project.

I purchased more in two different colors to work on a future project. The yarn has a nice soft feel and I would recommend buying it.

I really enjoyed this yarn. I make a LOT of garments and generally I prefer superwash or something a bit softer since I am quite sensitive. Originally I thought this was going to feel too rustic for me but upon finishing I actually love not only how my sweater drapes but how it feels.

Plus there’s a ton of colors to choose from. I’m excited to use this again.

Ich liebe es einfach. Die Farben sind wunderschön und die Farbauswahl ist super. Von schönen natürlichen Tönen bis hin zu knalligkräftigen Tönen für den benötigten Farbklecks im manchmal so grauen Alltag.

Auch wenn die Farbauswahl super ist, würde ich mir doch sehr wünschen, dass dies noch ausgebaut wird, da ich schon gefühlt zehntausend Häkelprojekte für dieses Garn im Kopf habe. :D.

Habe Hausschuhe damit gefilzt, das Material wird beim Filzvorgang in der Waschmaschine schön dicht und hält gut warm.

Super Preis-Leistungs- Verhältnis, und wenn sie durch sind , stricke ich mir in 2 Std ein paar neue. geht ratzfatz.

A really beautiful red, just the right red I needed for my felt projects. Just like the colour in photos. Lovely quality, highly recommended.

I would recommend this product for all people who want to hand spin or who want to use it for trapunto quilting. My daughter has even used it to make synthetic dreads because it’s so soft.

Great wool that will keep you warm even in the coldest winter. It is a tiny bit prickly so maybe if you have very sensitive skin might not be suitable. Overall I absolutely love it though!

5, da ich recht locker häkele und das Maschenbild sieht trotz unterschiedlich dickem Faden sehr schön aus. An manchen Stellen ist das Garn kaum versponnen, an anderen gut – dies sieht für meine Zwecke sehr reizvoll aus.

Die Wolle häkelt sich einfach, fühlt sich sehr weich und gut an und kratzt nicht. Man kommt schnell voran durch das dicke Garn – positiv, wenn es schnell gehen muss. Habe mir bereits Wolle nachgeordert für die passende Mütze.

Würde sie auch in anderen Farben und jederzeit wieder kaufen!.

Ich werde daraus die Schuhe filzen und noch einen Knäuel benötigen, doch für einen Pullover finde ich sie echt ungeeignet, warm wird sie sicherlich sein, aber sie kratzt unheimlich und daher musste ich auch von einem Stirnband absehen.

das enttäuscht mich doch etwas mehr als gedacht. ich bin, zugegebenermaßen auch recht empfindlich, was kratzige Wolle betrifft. ein Cardigan für den Winter über einem ist vorstellbar. darüber denke ich noch nach.

Leider fusselt das verhäkelte Knäuel nicht nur beim häkeln, auch beim tragen, daher 2 Punkte Abzug von mir. Fusselig& kratzig sind halt leider nicht so toll für eine Handarbeit, welche Mühe macht.
