20 Best Wool Hunting Socks (2022 Updated)

These are by far the very best socks I have ever found in 72 years. If only I had discovered them earlier I would have had happier feet. Get some before they can’t be found. I have 6 pair now and will buy 6 more pair.

I like them but I wouldn’t consider them light weight. I wear wool socks every day year round. These are a little thicker than my favorites. I don’t think the image conveys the thickness. They are comfy, but they might be a bit warm for summer.

We’ll see.

I would highly recommend these socks. Very comfortable and actually have a legitimate percentage of wool. Will be buying again.

These socks feel great, and help alleviate some foot pain from my Plantar Fasciitis. I work as a Meter Reader, and walk over a dozen kilometres a day, over some uneven ground. I wear Orthotic inserts in my hiking shoes, and that helps a lot, but cotton gym socks leave you with sore feet and heels, and give you blisters and corns.

When they get wet, or you sweat too much, it all gets even worse. Generally speaking these SmartWool hiking socks give you much better support, so you feel less pain and tiredness in your feet and legs, and the natural wicking ability helps keep your feet drier, also helping a bit with foot odour.

I can walk farther and a little faster between breaks, so my day is more efficient, and I complete my daily tasks sooner, with much less pain at the end of the day. I bought one pair and completed my route with one less break, and I finished it in much less time than usual, so the next day, I bought two more pairs for work.

At first I wondered if they were worth the price, and after a few days, I can say that, without a doubt, they are well worth it. I’ll never wear cotton socks again for this job. If you walk all day, you need these socks.

They come in different levels of cushioning, and they might seem a bit tight, but that’s because they are very supportive. Follow the sizing instructions, and you should be fine.

I have purchased two new pairs of these every year for the past five years. I still have and wear regularly those first few years of pairs! Three years ago, I didn’t notice a change in quality when I first put my new pair on, but about 9 months in, they were wearing through and aging faster than the older pairs in my regular rotation.

This year was by far the worst, though. I won’t be purchasing again in the future. I put the new pair on and they felt thinner, rougher, and tighter than all the old socks used to be. I was especially sad because I’d been trying to convince my dad to try these socks for years but he was wary of paying so much money for a single pair of socks.

I bought him a pair for Christmas to match my new ones and they simply didn’t live up to the hype I’ve been giving to Smartwool over the past five years. I used to tell everyone I knew they were the greatest socks in the world.

They were. They changed my life! No more smelly feet! Perfectly comfortable. Always regulating my feet to be the right temperature. These new designs just don’t do it.

I don’t go on any expeditions or multi-day excursions without a couple pair of these socks. Always purchase the same color, size and type so as they wear out they are replenished and eventually I’m always left with an even number of them.

These are good as standalone socks in hotter/drier days. That these liner socks can be worn solo does whittle down your pack by 1 or 2 less things you need to pack/carry. As liner socks they are amazing.

I even wear them under thinner/medium socks to help prevent blisters, and more quickly dry up dampness. On colder days these add insulation and help keep your feet dry as they perspire. I’ve worn these in the desert when my hiking boots were meant for Canadian environment, and they helped so much.

And because they were black, when all was said and done, they looked just fine instead of being “gross” with sweat or blood stains. I love that these are just black. You can wear these out in more formal settings, they look and feel great.

Never thought that we’d be writing a review about socks, nevertheless here it is! We’ve just discovered Darn Tough socks a few weeks ago because we replaced our 40-year old Eddie Bauer goose down parkas that were leaking down with new North Face Expedition goose down parkas.

We also completed our new winter gear with North Face insulated snow pants, beanies, and -40 insulated boots. So, we needed warm socks too, went online and voilà we discovered Darn Tough. Now, we know a thing or two about socks having gone through literally hundreds of pairs in our 80-year lives and 60 years together so far! For winter, we ordered a dozen pair, 2 pair each of the heavyweight hunter over-the-calf length for our daily walks on the trail in our new snow boots, and 4 pair each of the midweight boot length socks for everything else we do and for all day indoors.

Of course, we couldn’t pass up Da Bear socks, living here in beautiful Alaska as we do. Come spring, we’ll order another dozen pair, 6 pair each of assorted midweight micro-crew length socks for our trail walks and every other kind of daily use.

We received our winter socks and they fit fine, feel great, look good, and are hands down the best socks we’ve ever had in a long lifetime of hundreds of so-so socks! Darn Tough run about 20-30 bucks a pair, so an average 25 bucks times a dozen pair is 300 bucks, and another 300 for a dozen pair each of summer socks.

Of course we could have done with half the amount of socks but we wouldn’t have had any back ups in case we lost some or something else happened, so we doubled up for peace of mind. Now 300 bucks each for a dozen pair of the best socks that you can buy and wear is darn cheap, less than a buck a day for a year and they’ll last far longer with proper care than a year and are replaced free to boot! Ya gotta be nuts not to jump at such a bargain … and we’ve certainly not grown old and wise not being able to see a great deal right under our feet.

So-so smart socks, forsooth, be smarter and treat yourself to a dozen pair of Darn Tough socks, your feet that literally carry you deserve the best, you’ll not regret it, that’s for sure!.

After wearing through 2 dozen pairs of cotton socks AND a pair of polyester house-slipper-socks from working at home for the last 2 years, I got fed up and decided to spend a little (ok. a LOT) extra for some socks that would last.

After decades of extra thick stretchy cotton socks the differences were initially very striking, these socks don’t change shape or size when you put them on. Luckily I paid close attention to the sizing chart and got the proper size for me.

They are just wide enough to put on without forcing them, but my toes feel unconstrained. And, these socks are warm, I bought these in the middle of winter so I am currently enjoying the extra warmth, but I have apprehensions about what these might feel like come summer.

I bought this style because they said they came with cushioning, but I am not feeling it. After walking around my wood floor house in the evenings after work for an hour my feet feel beat to heck. These feel more like boot liners (granted.

that IS what they SAY they are) than the replacement for house-slipper-socks that I am trying to use them as. But, I’ll be willing to forgive the things that these are not, if they mean I don’t have to ask for socks every Christmas.

I have had them for a couple months so far, and I cannot tell the difference between how they look now, and how they looked when they came out of the package. I intend to see how well these hold up during the rest of this year, and if these 3 pairs that I bought last as long as the 2 dozen pairs they replaced, I’d say they were a good purchase; If they last longer, then I’d say they were a great purchase.

Purchased another pair- yes they are pricey but worth it! I am not lying when I say they are life changing for me. This is because I now only wear darn tough socks-I need a couple more pairs but I say life changing because now that I utilize a handful of pairs I no longer have all the bs matching socks, losing socks, holes in socks, et al.

Now I grab a pair and go. Simplified my life and I’m not looking back! Just need a few more pairs as I have discovered certain pairs I prefer for certain activities (i. e. gym, running, dress etc. ) I don’t know if they still do this but awhile ago I got one pair without cushion (I prefer cushion) and they sent another pair before even reviewing my first pair back, which I literally just dropped in a mailbox to return which was SUPER convenient since I don’t drive).

I am lauding these aspects over the quality because the quality speaks for itself and once you try them you will not go back. The only comparable one is bombas from what I hear but I have not tried those yet so I cannot speak to which is better.

I’ll stick to darn tough though, I’ll pay premium for quality over quantity and the fact made in USA!!!! The only complaint I have is that they don’t have any kind of loyalty program. Like I said I don’t mind paying for quality but would be nice to say buy 5 pairs and get one free or half off or something.

That said I LOVE that they don’t do the whole coupon/sale stuff- they let product speak for itself and it really does!.

I bought this and Wolverine to compare. There isn’t a good comparison. The Browning product is only 16% wool and that appears to be in the reinforced toes and heals. The rest is polyester and spandex, not really recommended for temps below 50F but comfy around the house.

One down side is you can really feel the seams of the toes and heals. The Wolverine brand was much heavier ( as much as 2x the weight) and is much better below 50F. It too has reenforced toes and heals.

It is 99% wool, the rest elastic as expected.

I test products pretty thoroughly before writing reviews. These socks are comfortable, warm, and you get two pairs for the same price as a single pair of quality socks, but that’s where the good part of the review ends.

The durability leaves something to be desired. I’ve only had these socks about 6 months and I’m already getting holes the bottom. This is one of those products where you “get what you pay for. ” If you’re looking for a pair of socks that last, pay a little more for a quality sock that’ll last.

If you don’t need a durable sock, then these might do the job for a few couple months.

Look nice but quality lacking. I bought 2 pair. The 1st pair tore at the top as I was pulling them on for the first time. I was disappointed so I called SG customer service, and they refunded the money for my order and let me keep both pair.

The 2nd pair are fine so far–wearing them now. Great customer service (5-star) from SG! I have been a member since 2006.

This was the sock that turned me onto Darn Tough Socks about a decade ago, and my favorite model sock (okay, they come in second to EVIL X DISSENT 8″ ULTRA MTN MERINO SOCKS for biking). It’s the most tightly woven wool sock and has a firm cush.

There is no sock fluff on my toes or lost wool over time. It maintains its shape. They have a great warranty. HOWEVER I bought a pair of Olive socks (great, just like my old ones) and a pair of Onyx, and the Onyx were of a totally different quality than the Olive ones.

They were about 3 inches longer and not as thick or cushy; a stretched out weave (or even a different weave pattern). I can still see these being a good sock, but it really surprises me that the quality is so different over different colors.

Maybe as Darn Tough rapidly expands over models and colors they are still figuring things out. I recommend sticking to the more classic colors in the Micro Crew – I had a problem with the vibrant color block ones where they were much thinner (though still the same size).

I recommend ordering several at once so you can know what the true magic of the micro crew really feels like. I wish that they kept the chocolate/blue color, as I think it’s really handsome. I also wish they came in size small and xs.

It’s very sad that the women’s colors are so different and that both genders don’t have the options of both sets of colors. I hate the women’s colors so I am really a small but get the medium men’s and they *just* fit.

(Usually a women’s 7. 5).

This is the first time I’ve ever bought this brand but with a Lifetime Warranty, I figured the manufacturer has quite a bit of confidence in their product. Sure enough, once I washed them on Gentle Cycle in the washer using cold water I could hardly wait for them to air dry by the next day to try them out.

Gently pulling them on and not jerking them into place left a little “play” that eventually offered more cushioning than I expected on a short hike (this may take some experimenting). A hot Texas day in hiking boots for 1.

5 hours was no problem for my feet. My feet were warm, not sweaty wet, with fully cushioned soles and toes. Getting home, I rolled them off so they’d be inside out to let the inside moisture dry better.

Couple of more hikes and they’re still cushiony soft, feet not soaking wet, then they’re dry and ready the next day. If I wear them through or develop a hole, you can bet I’ll follow through on the “Darn Tough” Lifetime Warranty for a replacement.

My preference has been to get their maximum percent of Merino Wool content and it’s paid off in confidence for longer hikes.

These socks are amazing for longer runs, longer hikes, and longer everything. They are pretty cushy in my opinion. I typically wear thinner socks, but actually really loved these. I felt like they fit very well in my running shoes.

I didn’t feel like my foot was wearing down in my shoe with the extra cushion. Of course Smartwool socks don’t move in my shoes and that is what keeps me coming back. I have worn and washed a few times (following smartwool guidance) and they still feel durable and the integrity of the fabric still remains.

If you typically have more slim fitting shoes, and you go towards thinner socks because of that I probably wouldn’t recommend these. I love having more natural fitting shoes, and these socks perform very well in these.

Another great fitting Smartwool sock. I fit anywhere between a 8. 5 and 9. 5 in shoes so I’m in-between sock sizes. I prefer a more supportive fit so the medium was perfect for me. If you like a looser fit size up.

The one thing i wasn’t expecting from a sock labeled “everyday” was how much cushioning there is. It’s just on the under side of the sock in strategic locations and it’s not really thick but it’s enough extra cushion to make these fit better in my hikers than my street shoes.

In the role of light cushioned hiker, they are fantastic. I can’t wait to rock these fancy looking socks out on the trails this summer. I can’t tell you about the durability yet as I’ve only just got them.

However they feel as solid as all my other Smartwool socks that I’ve had for years and they wash up just as easily. I only wash in cold and hang to dry so I’ve not seen them shrink at all. #smartwoollove.

I have LITERALLY lived in SmartWool Mountaineering socks since 1997. I buy 3 pr ever single year, and my wife EVERY YEAR without fail since 2000 had bought me 5 pr every Christmas. YES; over $160. 00 a year every year on SmartWool Mountaineering crew socks.

These socks have been reworked/engineered and are NOT the classic. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. The knit is looser, they arent as thick on the sole, they removed the woven in size on the side of the foot, they are NOT as dense or heavy.

They are not as warm. They took a product Ive loved and lived in for DECADES and made it worse. Its a sad sad sad day in my mountaineering sock world. (and yes I even wear them all summer, either in my ATAC boots, Vasques or with my TEVAs) These ‘new’ socks called “Mountaineer Classic” IS NOT THE CLASSIC!!!.

I’m size 13 and they still fit fine, which I can’t say about half a dozen other (and way more expensive) brands. We’re having two weeks of -50 F wind-chills and these socks are proving their worth in gold, given how much time I spend each day outside.

The next better socks cost 3x more. I can even combine them with other thinner socks, which is only needed below -40 F. So far I have been wearing them for 3 months and they are holding up and I am not seeing any wear and tear.

Undoubtedly, I am stocking up on them for future.

I have some other knee high socks but they’re all one color. I ordered these to get some variety. These come as a two pack, but from one pair to the next, the size is not the same. Dissappointed that one pair will stay up and fits well while the other does not extend high enough and pulls down.

There was only one size selection available. You would think the socks would be the same size in each bag.

Once you go wool, you will never go back to cotton. These are the warmest socks that have ever been on my feet. When my feet are warm, my body is warm. I wear these under my boots in the winter, because I have to work outside sometimes.

As soon as I come home, I put on another pair, and my winter PJ’s and my feet are not only warm but soft and cozy warm. These socks are literally a luxury I do not wish to give up. They will wrap you in soft warmth.

They are approximately $7. 50 a pair and worth every penny.

I looked at the good reviews on these socks and decided to order them. I’m glad I did! They fit nicely and are warm.

The socks are nice but the 9-12 large size was way too big for someone who wears men’s 10.

These socks are thick and soft, just what is needed for feet with painful heel spurs. They hold their shape after multiple washings and work well in steel toed boots.

I have a variety of fits socks, all are excellent. I have a pair of “dress” fits, two pair of light hiking socks that I wear with my NB walking / light hiking shoes and three pair of thick boot / hiking socks that I wear with my high top hiking shoes.

All are very comfortable and fit perfectly. As I accumulate more Fits socks, I find that I wear fewer and fewer of any other of my socks because none reach the level of comfort and durability of Fits.

I have been wearing compression socks for years on a daily basis because of venous insufficiency and mild edema. Just recently, I saw an advertisement for Fits compression stocks and ordered a couple of pair, one nylon and one wool.

Based on the size chart on the Fits website, I ordered XL socks but, although very comfortable, the XL socks are just a little too big and tend to slide down slightly. I contacted Fits about this minor problem and exchange was offered.

Although not optimal, I decided to order one pair of large wool compression stocks for comparison before exchanging the XL. I found a perfect fit with the large size – exchange is now processing. As far as comparison of wool versus nylon compression stocks, I prefer the wool which for me are softer and more comfortable than the nylon.

I doubt ever buying any other brand of hiking or compression stocks in the future. Thank you for an excellent product.

I now own and use the FITS black socks in the Medium-Rugged Crew, Tactical Boot, and Expedition Boot models. – The Medium-Rugged Crew has worked very well. I wear it all seasons with walking shoes. I recommend it.

– I’m just getting acquainted with the Boot socks. The Tactical Boot socks can be worn with my walking shoes. The Expedition Boot socks cannot – they’re too thick. – I just bought a pair of Keen lined winter boots.

Keen uses a very roomy toe-box, which I want to keep my toes from getting misaligned. My left foot is 1/2 size larger than my right. So, what I’m trying is wearing the (relatively thinner) Tactical Boot sock on the left foot, and the Expedition Boot sock on the right foot.

So far, this arrangement is working well. The real test of the warmth of the socks will come in January. Also, I need to see how the Expedition Boot socks will fit after wearing and washing them over a few weeks.

Initially, the Expedition Boot socks are longer than my feet and there is an excess of fabric. However, it’s also true that the Keen boots are new and still haven’t “adapted” to the shape of my foot, etc.

I’m an outdoors men and i’v looked at warrior socks for some time. the price may have kept me form getting them, but i said i’v bought 80$ gloves before why not for my feet that do most of the work anyway.

so i bought 2 pair for my wife and 3 pair for myself. haven’t been able to take them out hunting, but we both wore them out in the snow with our grandson and they are amazing. we both thought they performed great.

We experienced a very cold and snowy winter here in the Northwest where we live, these socks are the warmest I have had in many years. It used to be the only thing I would buy were wool socks, these are far superior! Thanks for a great and warm sock.

I love this version of the alpaca sock because it’s a little thinner than the extra warm one so it fits better into my work boots which are all season. The winter version really takes up an extra shoe size.

All in all, I love all 3 pairs of my Warrior Alpaca Socks and will continue to buy them!.

ONLY 38% merino wool instead of the claimed 52% merino wool. This wool helps with odor and obviously with less of it will make it cheaper and less quality. I ordered online and pickup in store, I feel scammed.

So annoying and will never trust again.

I bought a pair of these last month and used them this weekend for hunting. They feel thick and warm at first but they are anything but. They offer ZERO R value when sitting on the deer stand. Spend the extra money and get Smart Wool socks.

These went in the trash. Field & Stream products are one step up from Ozark Trail at Walmart.

The socks were nice and felt good. Unfortunately when I washed them they produced hundreds of little fuzz balls that got attached to everything in the washer. It might be my fault as I put them with other items and washed on medium cycle in warm water.

I hoped they would come off in the dryer on low but no luck. Spent a long time removing the balls off the socks and everything else. Guess I’ll wash on cold by themselves next time and see what happens.

These appear to be on par with Darn Tough, which is saying a lot. Slightly more merino percentage wise and still as soft as you’d expect. Great cushioning in the toe box and heal cup. I like these better than my Smartwool and equal with some of my Darn Tough.

I have used these for awhile now and started by just using them when I hunted. but they are so soft and comfy and wick away the sweat so well that I asked myself. Why and I not wearing these as everyday socks.

So they seem to find my feet more often than not anymore. I own several pairs. But have worn them for 3 days straight on a hunt with no smell. I typically run hot even in the winter so I will wear these most of the time unless its REAL cold outside, than go to the midweight version.

I have loved these socks from day one. I received a free pair with a purchase of my Crispi’s and have since purchased several others. They are among the best merino socks I have worn. The quality is up there with the other high-end brands but at a fraction of the cost.

These are truly the BEST everyday sock for most conditions and uses. I use them for working construction, landscaping, hunting, working out, and casual wear. These wick sweat like nothing else due to the high wool content in these socks.

I find the medium cushion is not too little or too much. I use these through the summer and don’t have problems with trench foot during work. and they work great for the cold until it gets closer to the extreme temps then I bump up to heavier-weight wool socks.

I also like the plain design of these socks makes them not crazy looking for casual wear and don’t jump out being too crunchy looking. the only real downside to these socks is how they wear a little fast.

I believe this is mostly due to the construction of materials being made of a high percentage of wool and less polyester or other material to provide more strength. HOWEVER, I would never trade up the high performance of the large % of wool construction for more durability.

I have tried just about every popular brand of wool socks. Smartwool, Darn Tough, REI, Carhartt, Columbia, and others. NONE seem to have as much wool content as Smartwool, and I’m not talking just these socks I mean most SmartWool socks in general.

I hear people rave about Darn Tough and its lifetime warranty. All I have to say is they are okay but nowhere near the performance level of Smartwool. Darn Tough has a different weave pattern that increases durability but doesn’t trap the warmth as well and tends to have lower wool content.

I HOPE Smartwool listens and keeps a high wool content in their socks and focuses on performance instead of getting greedy and going down the route that has destroyed so many companies today of the cheaply made high return products being pushed today slashing quality and performance.

I usually wear Smart Wool Socks and have worn them for the past 25 years. When I first started wearing them, they were wonderful and very well made. Now with the newer socks that I have purchased, I have noticed that the quality of manufacturing has diminished.

I am in the process of looking for a new brand. One issue that I have been having with the newer socks is the quality and consistency of the wool. It is both thin and thick within the same sock. With the quality of the wool yard been of lesser than previously purchased socks, The heel portion of the sock wears thin much quicker.

My arthritic fingers do not allow for me to darn my socks. That is, IF I could find wool thread to do it with. Secondly is the toe of the sock; when the toe section is connected to the body of the sock, there is a large nubb of fabric and it rubs right against my small toe causing severe blisters.

Hopefully I will be able to find a replace brand soon.

I have purchased these many times as they look great and are comfortable. The problem is that they just don’t last. Contrary to what you might read in the Merchant responses in these reviews, Smart Wool’s “Go Far.

Feel Good. ™ Guarantee” doesn’t amount to much. I recently sent pictures of two pairs that wore very thin. Thin enough to see my feet (not holes, just thin) and was told “the item falls under normal wear and tear ” and hence despite the fact you can’t “go far” in your socks because they are thin, the guarantee doesn’t apply.

In light of the fact that I only wear these each pair two or three times per month, and I have never had other manufacturers wool blended socks experience a thinness problem, I’m not happy. Smart Wool’s decision to not honor their guarantee leaves me thinking, I am only going to buy them in the future if they are on clearance.

, Maybe Smartwool should start making their socks in Iowa. The socks made there seem to last a long time.

As a Smallholder I wear these socks all day, every day, I buy about 5 pairs a year as I tend to wear holes in the toes and bottom. I used to wear them when walking the Cumbrian fells and found them perfect for that, these days they have a more practical application but would not be without them.

Also find Rutland Cycling to be a great retailer.

I bought me first pair about 10 years ago and loved them. Unfortunately the quality has deteriorated and so do the socks! They develop holes very fast, and the material sheds even faster. These are the best socks I’ve ever owned, but I can not justify the cost when they don’t last.

If holes don’t develop, the. The material sheds and I’m left with patches that are nothing but the nylon, or spandex webbing.

I’m retired, but my dogs, a Black Mouth Cur male and a brindle Catahoula / Pit mix Cur female, are not! Every morning, every season, weekends included, we cross the highway close to our house and wander and kinda hunt and mostly walk and de-stress and commune with the outdoors in a reclaimed prairie area that includes about 90 acres of scrub and woods and trails and borders the railroad line.

We usually stay out for over an hour (longer, if a train gets between us and home) and never. NOT ONCE. have my feet been cold! I’ve always liked socks that came to my knees and rarely could find any.

I also buy them a little large, knowing that after several washings, they will tighten up a little. I usually get about 3-4 years use from each pair, but then I am using them every day. I normally buy 3 pair each Fall and sometime during the winter, a couple of old pair will give out in the heels.

I think it is just from how I walk and from always shoving them into boots. These are also the most cushioning I’ve found, and important feature to me since I have neuropathy. Please keep making them!.

I bought these to use with rubber hunting boots. The socks are bulky and handle moisture well. Over the calf length just right for rubber boots. Like them so much that I’m getting another pair while they are still available.

The soft bulk ot these would not be my first choice with stiffer leather hunting boots, but they are my favorite for use with rubber hunting boots.

I bought these socks 4 years ago from Duluth when I lived in Florida (but visited Maine) and in my review back then I promised to review them once I’d worn them a bit. Well, it’s a bit later than I expected but the time for a review has come.

This has been a pretty darn cold winter in Maine and I’ve been wearing these socks with a pair of quality hunting boots while out bird watching in snow & icy conditions, and I’ve gotta say that my feet have been warm, dry, & comfortable every time.

They are now my “go-to” socks in cold weather, especially when the temperature is well below freezing. They are so comfortable that I just ordered another pair this morning to wear while the first pair is being cleaned.

Although these socks would probably be comfortable in any weather, I especially recommend them for use in very cold weather.

The XL size is described as a fit for shoe sizes 13-15. No way. I thought I had finally found a roomy wool sock for my size 12 feet, but these are VERY tight fitting all the way up the calf. I don’t have large calves.

To be fair, my foot is on the wide side. These socks are as tight as compression socks, especially on the first wear. I needed a compression sock donning tool to put them on. I thought I’d have to return them, but the donning tool did stretch them after a couple wears.

(The sock donner from Sigvaris is excellent, BTW) The quality of the socks is excellent. This saga worked out well for me in the end. In my opinion the XL sock could work quite well on size 10-12 feet,.

These are my go-to socks when I go hiking in the mountains during the coldest part of the winter. They’re very comfortable to wear and they’re very warm. Best of all, they don’t itch. Most wool items make me itch so some degree.

But not these socks. They keep my feet toasty warm all day and there’s no itch at all. I own several pairs of these socks, but I always purchase a couple more pairs each time they go on sale. That way I have plenty on hand and I also have some put back, just in case Duluth ever discontinued them (they do that from time to time).

I wear a size 16 in boots and the size XL in these socks fit my feet perfectly. I’ve tried numerous cold weather socks over the years and these are by far the best. Don’t hesitate. buy a pair, give them a try, and see for yourself.

Bought 5 pair of the Danner Merino Wool Blend socks a few months ago in a store in Maui Hawaii. The material does not hold together after a few washings and the socks look like they are headed for the trash after one or two more.

uses. Did buy the correct size for my size 13 shoe. So I am not stretching the material more than it should be when putting the socks on. Overall a high price here in Hawaii for a product that does not hold together.

Great feeling socks! Hug my feet and pad them nicely. I stand on my feet all day at work and these Danner Merino socks made a Huge difference in how my feet feel at the end of the day! And my feet don’t stink when I take them off! I Had no idea cotton was the worst thing to use for socks.

Had no idea wool could also have a cooling affect during summertime. I’ll never go back to cotton. These are dense and soft and well made!.

I cherish these socks. I love the material and feel. I love that they are made in the USA and will continue to add more of these to my inventory. I think and recommend after washing these you air dry them for durability reason.

They may fray a little but I want to believe that is because the sock is merino wool or more natural than the everything plastic oil petroleum chemical based acrylics people are used too.

Echoing other reviews regarding sizing. I’m a size 11 and ordered XL. The socks are so tight across the top of my foot they actually pinch. Personally, I don’t believe they simply “run small,” but are defective in their design or materials.

The fit and overall lack of stretch is very unusual. Ordered six pairs based on good reviews – all headed for the trash heap.

I bought my husband three pairs of these for Christmas, and on Christmas day they fit perfectly. Now, two months later, they have shrunk so badly he can’t even get them on! I wash exclusively in cold water, dry on low setting.

My husband has Parkinson’s, and it is difficult for him to dress anyway, & now these socks are impossible for him to get on. Huge disappointment.

While he was reluctant at first about the wool blend – he has always preferred 100% cotton – he was raving about them within hours of putting them on. He especially loved the fit, and how they provided cushioning in all the right places in his walking shoes.
