20 Best Wool Pressing Mat (2022 Updated)

I could not believe the wonderful job this mat did. I pressed my seam binding with this mat over my ironing mat. You have to have an ironing mat under it. It recommend a specific spray starch which I used.

My binding is outstanding, and I cannot wait until I press my next pieced together for my next quilt. I know the whole quilt will look very professional when I am done because of this fantastic superior wool pressing mat.

It is very thick, and it mentions not to fold it. You have to keep it flat, so I store it under my bed. I am going to make a cover for it out of plastic or cloth whichever I think is best. Some mats are not as thick as this one and they even mention you can roll them.

Some are much bigger, but , the thickness I am sure is what makes the heating process from the top and bottom of the mat so fantastic. I highly recommend this mat, and if I could give it more stars I would give it one thousand stars.

I like that the wool ironing mat is portable and easily used on any hard surface. It is convenient to use in general. I didn’t find that it did anything superior though. For instance, in the places where I had taken out stitches to correct a mistake, the old needle holes did not iron out when using the mat.

The instructions said not to use steam, so I didn’t. However, when I used a regular ironing board with a steam setting, the old needle paths ironed out. I am not going to return it because it is very portable.

But beyond that, I am not impressed!.

It is a little flimsy. I was expecting it to be more rigid. I had to iron black pants and they got covered in fuz. I recalled a reviewer’s suggestion to roll the sticky lint roll over the whole surface.

I did so but it continues to lose fuz. I then just put my iron straight onto the surface to flatten the fuz and see if that does it. It minimized it but it still has little fuzzies. I just decided to lint roll the pants at the end.

I didn’t pay much and this is used for crafting. I’ll use my good ironing board and iron for my garments.

A legit must have tool for the Quilter! It is firm and flat and absorbs the moisture from your steam iron so blocks press nice and flat with no distortion. Since the steam passes through the fabric and into the mat, your block is crisp and dry without having to spend more time ironing to ensure the fabric is dry.

I have recommended to many Quilter friends and none of us have regretted our purchase.

I love this pressing mat. The size is perfect for working on quilts & the pressing is so much easier, no having to stop & put up the ironing board! The mat gives your quilting fabric a very professional look.

I am so happy I ordered this pressing mat. It is absolutely fabulous! I ordered the larger size & glad I did. So much more convient than getting the ironing board out for those smaller items. Perfect for quilting projects, sewing projects & so, so much more.

I love this pressing mat. I took two quilting blocks and pressed one the usual way and then the other on the pressing mat. What a difference. The block was so flat and crisp. Amazing.

This works fntastic. It really does heat from both sides. I was disappointed in the delivery time. Says 2 days but took 7! The product is super though.

Excellent for pressing sharp creases. As a quilter, I need flat, even quilt blocks. This mat gets very hot and helps your iron do a better job!

I rarely write reviews, but this cheapo mat just cost me a bundle. The mat came folded and required a lot of steam to straighten out before I could even use it to iron my fabric. When I picked it up to put it away, I realized the steam had passed right through to the table top I was trying to protect.

No wonder it’s so much cheaper than all of the others on the market. It’s actually overpriced since it’s useless and has to be replaced. Wish I’d spent the extra few dollars to get a better mat. Instead I’m dealing with water damage on my dining room table.

This product description says it can turn any flat surface into a place to iron and that it’s made with fabric that can withstand heat. I used this on my wooden kitchen table and when I finished and moved the mat, the grippy dots on the underside of the mat along with some type of coating had melted off onto the table.

The only cleaner that would remove the residue was acetone but it ruined the stain and finish on my table. HORRIBLE!!!!.

This ironing pad works exactly as described, it fits on my long bed table and allows me to iron on it. I use a vintage, heavy steam iron and there is no problem. It is thick enough and long enough to make ironing slacks or a dress very easy.

It’s so much easier to put the pad on the table than get out and set up an ironing board. I haven’t had any problem with the pad moving around while I iron.

Good product but the diamond shaped stitching pattern gets ironed onto the clothes. I tried it with button ups and slacks and it leaves the diamond print on the garment. I used to have one that was all solid from Target but donated in a move.

This was exactly what I was looking for. I had an iron mat that slid on the tabletop every time I used it. This mat does not slide, it’s smooth so it’s very easy to iron on. Great mat to use when you don’t feel like using a ironing board or if you don’t have one.

I had to replace my old Dritz ironing pad because it was old and ripped. With the new one, the cotton fabrics I iron end up sticking to the surface. And the pad isn’t smooth – the top layer of the pad is bunched up in the corners of the pad.

Also, packaging says the bottom side of the pad is slip resistant, but it slides as I try to iron things. Very disappointed in this product!.

I love it! I purchased it to put under a wool press pad that I keep on a vintage wooden desk. I needed something other than an old cookie sheet to protect the walnut veneer from steam, and this works like a charm.

It has the added advantage of being a portable ironing surface for travel. Win-win!.

Is much smaller then I thought. The corners have wrinkles so you can’t iron to close to them otherwise the wrinkle will be imprinted on the fabric. I’ll probably go back to using a towel as a ironing pad on the counter space.

I purchased this ironing cover to place on top of my dryer to use for quick touch-ups, but not for detailed ironing, e. g. long-sleeved shirts. It’s so much easier to use than setting up a traditional ironing board for every little thing.

I like that it has magnets on each end that helps hold it in place when on the dryer. But the thing that I like the most about this cover is that it protects the top of my dryer from getting scratched, especially if you are in the habit of using your washer and dryer to set things on.

A very practical item for a very small investment!.

I was looking for something else not an ironing teflon tape cover so I had to return. If I wanted an ironing cover with magnets it would have been perfect. I wanted a protective cover so my new machine wouldnt get scratched and needed a fancier look.

Absolutely LOVE this item! It’s so easy to use and I can easily fold it up and put it away without is being bulky like an ironing board. Total lifesaver for saving space and it’s overall a great product.

This is a great little pressing mat to keep by your sewing machine while working or to take on retreat.

Perfect companion for Cricut Mini iron

It turns out I don’t hate ironing; I just hate my ironing board. Until a month ago, I’d never heard of a wool pressing mat, but if I had, I would have considered it an absolutely necessary sewing tool.

It sits at the end of my cutting table, with a low profile, and when I need to iron I simply walk to the end of the table and press my fabric. I bought the larger one because I wanted to be able to press dress pieces, and I’m glad I did.

I haven’t had any issues with sticking (I saw one review mention that and it made me nervous, but I don’t even feel a hint of that), and while there is a slight smell when used for a long period, it’s barely noticeable and not at all unpleasant.

That being said, this thing could smell like a barn and I’d still prefer it to my clanky, horrible, giant ironing board. I do wish it had some kind of grippers on the bottom because it does slide around my slick wood table a bit, but it’s not a big deal and this way it’s usable on both sides and there’s nothing to melt.

Other than that, the only thing I wish is that I’d known about this years ago.

I bought this to replace a woolen mat by another company that smells like rotten food after using steam one time. For that other brand I tried washing leaving out in the sun and letting it dry out for months but it still infected the things I was ironing with a horrible smell.

I got this one, have use light steam, and have not noticed any problem. There is an odor of wet wool (like when you wash a sweater) that goes away when it dries and that does not infect the things you are ironing.

There is no residue on my iron, so it must really be 100% wool.

Shipped quickly! After reading the reviews, I was concerned about the odor that was talked about because I’m sensitive to smells but, when I used the mat, the very slight odor it gives off did not bother me at all.

I’m a quilter and using this mat is an excellent way to get very flat blocks with a medium setting on the iron and not a lot of effort. 5 stars!.

This was purchased to use as an ironing aid in my quilting projects. I wish I had this years ago. My blocks are considerably flatter, which makes seam alignment more accurate. One thing I had not considered was the felt actually ¨holds¨ my piece while I am ironing – lessening the time I spend manipulating the piece.

I have noticed no smells when the pad is hot. I have not burned myself on the surface of the pad. This was an investment that was worth every penny.

I haven’t used it yet. But the product appears sturdy and well-constructed. I felt compelled to sniff it, considering its source. Sounds silly, I suppose, but there is no odor, either natural or chemical.

I certainly recommend this product.

Mat works great. All these mats are pricey, but definitely serve a purpose when working on small quilt piecing.

If the pad had been the size expected, it would have been nice. But, it was too small so I returned it. These wool pressing pads are wonderful if you get the right size.

I do love this pressing mat. Glad that I bought the larger size. There was a “horse barn” smell for the first couple of uses (kind of expected damp sheep smell and no I do not use steam) anyway that has gone away now.

Seams press much flatter than just on the ironing board.

I am very happy that I purchased this longer wool mat as it’s made pressing strips and larger portions of my quilt tops much easier. I had previously purchased a smaller mat that I use for piecing blocks so I knew how the wool mat helped make my pressing so much flatter than my regular ironing surface.

I recently got rid of my cumbersome ironing board and when I saw this I knew it would work for me. I don’t do a lot of ironing so this is very useful to just lay over a table when I do need to iron. nice size too.

Works really well but I wish it was even bigger. It barely fits the width of my washer. Nice way to iron something without having to have an ironing board.

This ironing mat is well made, durable, can withstand long use and I just love it. The best ironing mat I’d ever had. I wish it was used for the ironing boards cover, too.

I don’t own an ironing board. Before I just threw down a towel and ironed on the bed, floor. where ever. Now, I have ironing topper. I have to use the laundry room at my apartments, so I use this on the table top or bed, floor.

it works anywhere and protects where you are working. I usually just have to touch up something, not iron an entire garment so this works perfect. Quality was as good as I’d seen in retail store and the price was much lower here.

I iron on the top of my flat-top stove, my washer and dryer are front loaders with drawers and are too high to iron on. I found that it gets moist underneath the mat when ironing. I just put a folded towel under the mat and that absorbs the moisture.

This mat is great it magnetizes to the stove and my daughter uses hers on her dryer. Fantastic product, would recommend it to anyone that doesn’t want to store a big ironing board. For storage we just fold it in half and it magnetizes to the side of the washer/dryer.

Or you could just leave it on top of the dryer and use it for a folding mat so the top of your dryer won’t get scratched. Highly recommend this product.

I use this product to iron seams when doing quilt piecing. I have a high portable table on which I am able to cut, iron and pin pieces. This product could also be used over a washer or dryer. It is most useful for smaller pieces, not a large curtain.

Its most useful if you have a larger free surrounding area to move the fabric.

I bought this thinking it had a silicone backing. It does not. It has a foam backing and the 2 layers (top heat resistant layer and foam backing) are not really attached and slide around. I will be altering this to make it more user friendly.

I brought this three weeks ago. Since I no longer use an ironing board I felt this would be perfect for my little table. It’s A great fit and can hold up to the heat of the iron.

I put in the search bar “wool ironing pad”. I assumed it was wool, but I didn’t read the specifications (typical). I was disappointed when I got it, but for the price, I figured I would give it a chance.

It works perfectly fine. The pad heats up under the material and makes ironing faster. It is the perfect size. I roll it up to keep out the creases. If you want wool, this is not your product. If you are looking for convenience and a great price, this is a great product.

I would highly recommend it.

I often find myself having to iron something quickly before work and my bed is the place I do it. This iron mat is perfect for this task. I don’t have to worry about scorching my comforter. The iron mat is very durable, easy to store and is light weight.

I am pleased with this product.

Very thin, no magnets or anti-slidding finish. I added corners on the bottom to insert magnets to help keep in place so it will work for now.
