20 Best Worms For Fishing (2022 Updated)

I ordered two 100 count bags of tequila sunrise worms. I thought. But I received some blue worms instead. I was contacted by a guy named Josh who said I could send them back and once received, they would send me a refund and then I could reorder.

I tried to reorder before I sent them back but noticed when I finalized the order, it switched to the blue worms. Even the picture showed tequila sunrise color on the confirmation order. I kept the blue worms because I don’t trust them to refund my money.

Too bad; I’ll have to find something similar from a different company.

I have used the Black 6 inch worm for many years. It has become my Bait of choice when fishing is tough. Most of the time fishing is tough anyway. Many other fisherman know about this bait and it gets bites.

I have set up a rod and reel and line to best fish this specific worm and keep it ready at all times. This bait is excellent for the younger fishers to use and learn bass fishing rigged Texas Rig. No Hang-ups.

It gets bites.

I have had good luck with power worms. Bass on nests will pick up the bait and move it off the nest and they don’t always tug on it. so you only feel a slight weight on it. Bass hold it long enough so that you can figure it out and set the hook.

In stained water. you can’t see them. so all you have is a few seconds to set the hook.

After mssing our annual summer trip to Colorado due to COVID, I decided to buy all new Power Bait before this year’s trip. I went to Berkley’s website and ran across these rated 5-Stars with many comments about the yellow ones, so in addition to my regular variety of Power Bait dough, I got these.

Though I more typically bottom fish, I used these on 10 and 12 size hooks suspended 2. 5-3ft under a bobber. While we did not catch one on every cast (though it was close), we did catch a fish on every bait and even two on some (they stay on the hook very well).

There are 50 baits in a jar on which we caught 58 stocked rainbows and native brook trout across 6-7 hours of total fishing while outfishing anyone near us 10-to-1. After this kind of success, I’m saying goodbye forever to glow-in-the-dark smears on my shorts and glitter on my face.

It’s Yellow Honey Worms from now on.

I love that these stay fresh for so long. So many baits go bad after being exposed to air, sun, etc. These are convenient, easy to use, and always ready. I love them. So do the fish. Three of us caught 49 rainbows in 3 hours with this bait.

With each cast, the question wasn’t, “Will I catch something?” but “How big will this one be?” It was like being at a kid’s carnival fishing booth where you always know you’ll get something soon, it’s just a question of what it will be.

If there are fish there, this seems to get them.

I’ve had great success with the yellow fishing for trout. I prefer it over the rainbow sparkle PowerBait dough I’ve used for years. I still use the floating dough PowerBait off the bottom, but the sinking Honey Worms are best off the top.

I use them under a bobber to stay at a set depth, or just let them sink from their own weight w/o sinkers. The natural fall with loose line works best for me.

Product catches fish. A good alternative to real worms. Storage is no problem, you can keep in your pocket. With the variety of flavors, you can cover all of the bases. Stays on the hook better than live bait/the real thing.

We, my wife and I have been using fishbite bloodworm for years, fishing in the surf of Brigantine and Ocean City new Jersey. They have always work great for us. We could not wait till the water got above 70 degrees to use them.

They would out fish blood worms all the time catching Kingfish/whiting. We have won surf fishing tournaments using them. I have just found out that they make a cold water version. I will never buy blood worms again.

We have recently moved to South Carolina. We will be surf fishing out of Edisto Beach state park, on the beach. Since everybody down here uses shrimp I am purchasing some in shrimp. Will see which works best.

I’ve been using Fishbites for many years now with great results! It stays on the hook very well, releases a good scent in the water, and it actually catches fish when compared to Berkley Gulp! and even when compared to the real thing! This stuff works every bit as good as the real thing! I use the Bag O’Worms Bloodworm Alternative in the Longer Lasting scent formula (I have yet to try the Sandworm flavor/scent) and I catch Spot, Croaker, and White Perch all day long.

I have been buying Zoom products from Dicks Sporting Goods for a couple years. I find a much better selection at DSG than at the other big sporting goods stores that actually specialize in bass fishing.

I always by in bulk, never 1 or 2 packages, I buy 10 or more because of the value added due to free shipping. I fish 30-40 tournaments a year, I qualified 42 out of the top 500 to fish the national championship of a major semi-pro series, the majority of my fish were caught on Zoom Baits purchased from Dicks Sporting Goods.

How about a sponsorship? My lodging alone is going to cost over $1600 for the championship week, that’s a drop in the bucket to my annual cost to compete in a sport that I enjoy.

I’ve been a die hard trickworm user for well over a decade now, and have nailed 9 of the 10 largest Large-Mouth Bass on these worms. I began to use them right around the same time Senko’s became everyone’s go to bait.

I diverged to these, and they won me multiple tournaments and lunker awards. I generally only throw these weightless or with 1/32 or 1/16 ounce weight as they have deceptive action all on their own that weight ruins.

This is not a windy day lure, not for me at least. I generally fish these on a medium spinning outfit with 8 lb fluorocarbon or is in heavy cover a LH retrieve bait casting reel with a slow gear ratio and either 10-12 lb Fluorocarbon or Berkely Nano-Fil.

I don’t like braid with weightless or very light lures as it adversely affects my casting distance. Though these come in a myriad of colors, I only use 6. green pumpkin, grn pmkn flake, watermelon flake, black blue flake , a rootbeer silver flake color (do not recall the exact name) and black.

I rig these on a 2/0 through 4/0 wide gap hook, preferably a light wire hook as too much weight ruins the action of these. I will often spend 10+ minutes slowly working one of these back to the boat.

example: I’m in 8-10 feet of water with either underwater wood or vegetation. I’ll cast out and keep a snug line but not so snug I affect the action. then allow it to slowly fall, and twitch it until I know it has reached bottom.

then I’ll slowly lift and drop it, twitch it or if the bass are aggressive work it like a rubber jerkbait. I know I almost always catch bass on these, rarely have an entire day that I am not using one of these much of the time.

I also use these in the Susquehanna River for Small-Mouth bass, and they love them as well. but in this case I’ll use them on an 1/8 or 3/16 football jig head, exposed hook due to the moderate to heavy current i have the majority of my success in.

in short, if you aren’t using these, you don’t know what you’re missing! ESPECIALLY in clear to lightly stained water!.

These floating worms are more fun to fish than should be allowed. The Largemouth, come from yards away to attach. Fish wacky style, and let sink until out of sight, then jerk an bring back to the top.

The will hit it on the sink. A spring time classic.

This is my favorite stick bait brand because I typically fish really shallow in a heavily pressured lake. The fish are very wary, and the extremely slow sink of this thing is perfect. It lets the fish really take their time going in for the kill.

It could also be that this one looks so different in the water than other stick baits the fish may have seen because it falls so slowly and is just so seductive. I tend to fish it against the bank in laydowns on a weightless Texas rig.

It also does great as a wacky bait. Pinch it in half and you have a very good ned tail. The attractant seems to work–all my Yum baits get eaten and held onto for a long time. This is key for me as I fish mostly light mono with a lot of slack–just bumping the bait lightly for action, so feeling strikes isn’t very reliable.

I often don’t know they’re there until I go to bump the bait again and feel the weight. Truly, I can’t say enough for the Yum Dinger, as you can tell.

There are several reasons why. This bait is. first of all, it can be used in pretty much all different situations, right? You can Carolina rig it, you can Texas rig it, you can put it on a split shot, on a drop shot, wacky rigging is a very, very popular way of doing it.

Simply just weightless, just rig it on a 2/0 or 3/0 hook, and just let it fall on itself. It just does this nice, undulating action as it falls. It’s wonderful. The thing about the YUM bait though, what I like about it is, first of all, the plastic that it has, it’s a stronger plastic so it lasts longer.

It doesn’t tear as easy. So you catch a lot more fish on a single bait without having to get tore up, and you lose a bunch of baits and just blast through a whole bunch of baits. That’s an expensive way of fishing.

So these baits actually last a lot longer.

The Yum Dinger is perfect for Wacky Rigging when searching for both largemouth and smallmouth bass. I have great success when using a dinger with a wacky rig when Texas, Carolina and Ned rigs are not producing.

The most productive colors for me are Green Pumpkin, Watermelon/Red Flake and Motor Oil. I prefer to rig the 3″, 4″, and 5″ Yum Dinger weightless on Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap Hooks 1/0, 2/0, and 3/0 respectively.

This combination sinks slowly and will entice bites when other presentations fail. A very slight twitch as the dinger is falling often get an immediate strike.

I bought Berkeley’s Power Bait Earthworm in jar after watching the guy next time catch fish after fish, while I caught nothing. Went back the next day after purchasing the worms and caught fish all day.

The worms stay on better than live worms. I cut each into 1/3’s because my hooks we so small. Best trout bait I’ve ever used. I just hope it works as good on crappie, bass and perch. I will keep a couple jars in my tackle box now for sure.

Unfortunately, I purchased these thinking they would be great for my kids as they don’t have to deal with the guilt of killing worms and less messy. They advertise that they out fish any other bait. This is a lie.

We gave a pond that we can literly catch a fish every time we cast out into it. However, we rigged two poles with this product and did not even get a nibble. The fish wanted nothing to do with this product.

It didn’t work at all, no nibbles, nothing! It was useless, and i bought it as to not have to keep worms in the fridge. A waste of money. I originally tried to buy the minnows, but they didn’t have any.

Now i’m afraid to buy those despite the reviews.

My first cast produced a smallmouth bass that swallowed the whole worm. Continued catching bass all morning. It seems the action of the lure traveling through the water and realistic looks fish can’t resist.

Will purchase again.

Cheapest pre-rig out there, friend and I traveled 150mi round trip to Cabela’s, Noblesville,IN bought 10 pks apiece. Worms might get 2fish!!! Worms are destroyed by fish EASILY. Very weak and cheaply made.

To bad because they have great color and bass love them.

Bought this for my son nearly 12 years ago. The worm has since disinigrated. Will definitely buy again.

My go to stick Bait Worms are Yum Dingers or Big Bite Bait. I have been fishing these plastic Worms for about 14 years. I fish them every way I can think of. The Colors, Sizes, Price, & Availability are a huge help plus the quality is good enough.

These 2 brands have earned their keep in my boats. I’ve been sucked into buying the pricey brands and they have proven to be just that Pricey but no better.

Will catch fish anywhere. Great action, and way more durable and affordable than yamamotos, however something about the original senkos just flat out catch more fish. My guess is yamamotos are more dense and therefore sink faster and have more fluttering movement, but they rip apart after 1 or 2 fish, whereas each of these guys will last you a dozen or more.

Yes , they are a great worm bait. But the tail action on this worm makes for the best trailer I have ever used on a spinner bait. I recently returned from a fishing trip in Mexico called el Novillo. GREAT Bass fishing! out fished my boat partner the last few days at least 2 to one.

even after he realized the spinner bait was just on. and he switched over to the spinner bait. I am convinced and always have been that using a Culprit 6″ worm has been a Major difference. Oh, I do not use a trailer hook.

I have found that using one was more a pain than how much it helps, besides, the entire idea of using the worm trailer to begin with is not only as an attractant but in addition, the fish holding on longer thus allowing for a better hook set.

Less missed fish. I have tried other trailers, such as grubs and other brands of 4 & 6 inch worms and I am convinced the tail action in the Culprit worm is the difference! Also try to find longer shank hooks after the skirt, it allows for more of the worm in bedded on the hook.

Funny my favorite spinner bait has a short shank after the skirt, I just go through more of the worms or bite off the damaged section after I catch a fish. Happy spinning!.

This is a great worm with very nice action. It sets up well on a 3/0 EWG. I use it with Gambler’s rattle weight and usually fish with darker colors: Texas-rig only. They used to have a deep purple/blue/black color that was deadly – but haven’t seen it in a couple of years.

TIP: Make sure to rig it perfectly straight or it will twist the line. This worm has a flat bottom side that greatly assists in rigging. TIP: Fish it slow- Hopping it off the bottom with long rod strokes – allow it to settle between hops.

The strike usually occurs while it is sitting still, as the tail wiggles while settling.

This past year I just really started bass fishing and I found some worms in a old tackle box in a old barn. They worked great , I could catch 5 bass on this worm before having to change it. Then the day came when I finished them off.

So I searched and searched for this worm and to find out the company that made the worm had gone out of business. So it was time to find something else that worked really well for me. So I bought a bag of Culprit grape shad original worms.

I caught a bass on the first worm out of the bag and first cast thrown. Then I was hooked bad , all three treble hooks were in. So yes it is a great worm!! Loving the Culprit’s!!.

I am a big Ned rig fan. I have never seen a bait catch more bass. I used the ZMAN TRD exclusively for a while. My youngest son bought me a pack of these to try. I was surprised how well they worked. I now use these instead of the TRD.

The color selection is great. The salt impregnation probably helps the fish keep the bait longer also. Their only downside is that they tear much easier than the TRD, so the cost is more. That is why I didn’t give them 5 stars.

The texture, colors, and quality of Robo are top notch!! These also give a different look than the TRDs. Give the fish something different is the difference from getting bit!! Like I said check out the colors.

I fish a pond that was an old rock quarry. Main forage is bluegill. I used the pumpkin seed bluegill color and caught 12 fat bass. Including a 4, a 5 and a 6 pounder. Fun fishing on light tackle. Getcha’ some!.

What an Awesome bait, there was a blood worm bait shortage in Southern Maryland and all I could find was these Fishbites, everyone else on the charter had live bait and they called me Hot Magic as it turns out I was high hook.

I won’t leave out again without a package in my tackle box. Hot Magic!!!!!!!.

I recently purchased this plastic as the result of Zoom discontinuing the color I prefer in their Dead Ringer worm. The color Red Glitter is very close. The action appears to be good. I am a big fan of very, very soft plastics.

Nothing on the market compares to Zoom in this category. My season in the Pacific Northwest is just warming up. Time will tell.

Beefy target that will get the attention of angry, hungry pre-spawn mamas. During the spawn, it presents as a large nest-raider. Impossible to fish wrong. Twitch it. hop & pop it. slowly lift and drop it.

dead stick it. creep it. swim it. whatever. You are gonna catch a bass using this worm; probably a big one. The 7″ model is plenty big; the 9″ would be fine in the notorious big bass lakes. Colors? Crawdad and Red Shad work for me in all water clarities.

The fat max curly tail worm is the one I choose most. Fair price, great action and durability.

I know color matters when fishing, but in the Mouth of May in Southwest Michigan. I have used every color Ned Bomb and have caught (30-40) bass and a few 9”-10” bluegills. Every color Ned Bomb has worked extremely well! I did sent them with Yum shad scent and crawfish scent and I think that helps.

I use the Missile Green pumpkin flash with a Ned Rig in December-February in central Alabama with tremendous success. Although winter bass fish can be challenging, throwing a Ned Rig slow and with this tail, it works every day.

These ned bombs are a real nice bait with a lot more action and slightly bigger than a standard trd style bait. The beaver tail has a nice undulating action, even at rest. They float straight up off the bottom right out of the package and they have a fantastic color selection, a smallmouth killer for sure! As a bonus I think Mr.

Green jeans will dig em to!.

Most of Googans soft plastics are pretty standard as far as the actual design goes in comparison to the market norm. however the mondo worm is a trail-blazer if you will. With one small yet defining adjustment, Googan has the most unique curly tail worm out there! They added the same flange ad the craw and bugs have but scaled it down and put it on the tip of the tail.

the action this worm makes coming through the water is unmatched and spectacular! A must have and my go to for sure!! Redbud+summertime= success.

When Googan first came out I was kind of sceptical of wether it was name brand or not. Ever since I used there bait for the first time I was convinced that is was a great line of baits. On to the mondo either size is great I like the smaller one for flipping trees in the spring, and the 10 inch for Carolina rig in the summer.

Every time I use this bait with the hammer hooks it always lands right in the top of the mouth, and the tail action is awesome.

This worm has really good action and produced quality bass during my last outing in July, in East Texas. The worm averaged 2-3 bass before having to be replaced, which I would say is pretty good for Texas rigged soft plastics, but not the best.

My daughter and I tournament fish together and we have found that the Strike King Cut-R Worm is our go to lure when we need to put a fish in the boat. I love that action of the worm and we have found that it is now one of your most reliable worms in the boat.

I have at least 2 tied on each time we go out to fish. One in each size. Daughter put her PB in the boat with it this year. I will not go a day without using one of these worms and I have yet to have a day where the Cut-R worm has not put a fish in the boat.

Came across these on YT and decided to give them a try. Bought the basic colors Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red and Junebug and the GP was the first one i tried, got a nice 2lb on the second cast and then a smaller one on the fifth cast but i didn’t tried the other colors since GP was doing a good job.

Will try them out soon but based on how good the GP was, i have no doubt they will kill too!.

Great thump action. Definitely gets bigger fish’s attention. Just wish there were more colors to choose from.

Love this bait; I have been fishing with them since their release. I’ve used all of the “Ned” style baits and this has been the best for me. Great size; great colors and a very good price. I can normally catch about 5-6 Bass per bait.

These catch Bass, big, little and everywhere between. This is an excellent product.

I use these to make texas rigged ned rig style baits. They work when a lot of other baits don’t. Durable but flexible too. I like the two toned colors.
