junk with a capital j worms escape from top tray to the bottom bin the crawl outside then die. the ones that don’t crwal out the sides are in bad shape. 1/2 my worms are dead. the others are in a bad state.

I have not been able to get into my garden because of all the rain. It looks like next week will be an opportunity to begin my garden work. Looking forward to the nutrients provided by the worm castings and a bountiful harvest throughout the season.

Great product. Have been using in seed starting mixture. I used it a bit heavy handedly and my mix is a bit heavier and coarse than I’d like. But even the smallest seeds (St. John’s wart) germinated no problem.

Lots of fungal activity with no signs of damping off. 👍🏾.

Very black, rich castings. There are some earthworm castings being sold that look like regular compost. This is not one of them. This looks like you harvested it from your own worm farm. This has a rich, black.

coffee ground appearance and is very sweet smelling. The price was actually one of the best I could find on Amazon or Ebay. Try an inexpensive 15 pound bag and see what I’m talking about as that is what I did.

I will be purchasing more of this in larger quantities, now that I know it is the real deal.

This was part of a “formula” that my husband used for our garden this year. We got everything from WOW and we could not be more pleased. Most stores were out by the time we ordered, but WOW had what we needed and it was shipped quickly.

2 tomato plants and 220+ tomatoes, 2 cucumber plants and 200+ cucumbers. A very good year, thanks to the products from WOW.

I did quite a bit of research before choosing this compost bin, and so far I’m very pleased with my choice! Great, easy-to-follow instructions both in print and online (with video). I am new to worm composting, and I have found this set up to be pretty “dummy proof”.

The only problem I have encountered so far is when it rained really hard and rainwater blew into my bin (I had in near my house, under an overhang), I found a few drown worms in the bottom of the bin near the spigot.

I guess the “worm ladder” didn’t help them. Also, the drainage to the spigot is rather high, so there would have to be quite a bit of liquid in there to actually be able to drain it out of the spigot, so even if I had left the spigot open, it would not have drained out.

The attached photos show my bottom bin after about 5 weeks of use. I’m quite pleased so far! NOTE: I ordered extra bins in a different color because they were cheaper for some reason. The original bin I ordered was all black.

I’ve only had this for a week, so I am by no means an expert. After reading every internet post I could find for advice, watching the instructional DVD and reading the manual, I’m confident this system will work well for us.

It’s very easy to put together. The DVD and manual do provide some conflicting advice. After reading some online reviews, this is how we set up the system: Our system is indoors, so we are concerned about fruit flies and mites.

We put some shredded paper in the leachate tray. With the ladder, the worms can and will move freely back and forth. We have the leachate container below the spout and are leaving the spout open to increase airflow.

So far, there is not enough moisture for anything to drain. No worms have escaped. We used three sheets of newspaper in the bottom of the first container, added 1/2 the coir, more shredded paper, about two cups of composted soil and a couple tablespoons of the pumice.

Then we added a second tray to the top with a pile of fluffy shredded paper to ward off fruit flies and absorb excess moisture. From some of the reviews I had read, I was concerned that I would only be able to feed them once a month.

However, the DVD recommends the trays be filled 1/2 with bedding, 1/2 with food scraps. Not too wet, not too dry. I am dicing our produce scraps, freezing them overnight to kill fruit flies, then letting them thaw before feeding the mix to the worms.

As of right now, they are going through a sandwich size container every two days with barely any remnants remaining. It’s certainly not all of our food scraps, but I think the longer we monitor it, the more we’ll learn, and the more efficient it will become.

Well constructed, easy to assemble and put into use. Succinct instructions, easy to follow. The worms seem happy with this. I have nearly filled the first level and all is well so far….

When I was a child, years and years ago my Mom grew gorgeous flowers. She went to a local worm farm to get her “worm dirt” and thus I grew up knowing the amazing ability of this stuff to make the healthiest plants ever.

I am nowhere near any worm farms, but thanks to this product I can have the same success. If you have plants, you need this product!!! I mix it into regular potting or garden soil by a ratio of 1/4 with the 1 being the worm castings, and then add whatever other amendments the particular type of plant requires.

Its magic “dirt” my Mom would approve.

I like to add a scoop of these castings to my containers when potting them up. It was nice to have it delivered directly to my doorstep.

Black soldier fly larvae are great feeders with really well balanced nutrient content. I’m really glad to have found them canned since the larvae themselves don’t last too long live, which can be troublesome if you don’t have many pets to feed them to.

These will last a couple weeks when kept in the fridge. My leopard gecko loves these and they’re a great choice for mixing with live feeders.

Too-Loo-La loves the grasshoppers and the worms. She will back away from the Shrimp. She is not happy about those. I am getting a French Bulldog for Christmas so I will be requesting what kind of food would you recommend? Merry Christmas and Happy Yapper Year.

I was hoping the injured blue jay I am caring for would eat these to save me from searching outside for live ones. I tried giving them to him several times but he was not interested. Two weeks after openning the can, I threw them away assuming they were no longer good.

The can needs to have an experation date and/or information regarding how long they are good for once the can is openned.

Really happy i ordered this might be one of the best kept secrets for the garden. It is a low level organic fertilizer. Applied to our fruit trees and am putting in ground as i plant. Also trying as a growing medium to start a Moringa seed in as it has to be bug free most purchased garden soil is contaminated with bugs.

I have used this Tumbleweed Worm Farm with success for more than ten years, and just bought a new one for my son – gave him worms from my worm farm. It is a great design, very practical and robust. Eventually the legs will break, but that does not matter as you can rest it on bricks.

I tip the two bottom trays into the wheelbarrow every new moon, fill the tray with water and use a steel rake to mix it. I then rake the worms and uneaten compost back into one tray, and fill the second tray with new lawn clippings.

The worms are thriving! I have a monthly wheelbarrow full of worm juice for the garden, and can add worms to my compost bins.

I bought this worm farm more than a decade ago and have never regretted buying it. I use it as an addition to my other composting systems I use, as I do find that we produce far too much vegetable scraps for the worms to digest.

Although I do enjoy the fact that the vermicasts collect separately in the lower trays, the best feature is the fact that you can have instant fertiliser worm tea whenever you want it and it is so easy to collect! Simply place an empty recycled juice bottle under the tap (closed).

Take the lid off the worm farm, ensure the worms are covered with some paper/cardboard or a worm blanket, then pour a couple of litres of water (preferably rain water) over their covering, allowing the water time to soak through.

The water will percolate through the decaying food scraps and the vermicasts and will collect in the bottom layer. Simply turn on the tap and fill your bottle. Once collected, you can further dilute the worm tea by adding a portion of the collected worm tea to your watering can.

(I like to transfer a quarter to a third of the worm tea that is in my 2L recycled juice bottle into my 5L watering can and then fill to the top with water). A word of warning- make sure you keep the worm farm well protected from the heat and sun during hot summer days or they will be steamed! Besides that, happy worm farming!.

Can-O-Worms was easy to set up and get going – especially if you buy all the extra paraphernalia. Can see would be great for kids. But we found that the size was too small for the worms to keep up with the food waste generated by our household of two vegetarian adults who eat at home most of the time but don’t have excessive food wastage.

For same or larger size households we recommend the larger Worm Cafe. We ended up getting another secondhand Can-o-Worms farm to cope with our volume. If you do buy a Can-O-Worms farm we also recommend buying at least another (third) tray (avail from Tumbleweed online not Bunnings unfortunately) as it gives you more flexibility when the top tray is full but the worms havn’t finished with the second tray.

This situations seems to be very likely from what i can see (NB many other kits have 4-5 trays) and seems to be helpful for the worms to have different tray environments available (incl. types of worms having different enviro needs and also for breeding i think).

I use Encap Earthworm Castings as a soil amendment. When mixing my potting soil, I add the recommend amount of Encap Earthworm Castings to the soil mix. I also make Encap Earthworm Casting “Tea”, and add about 1 cupful of ‘Worm Tea’ every 2 weeks, to each potted plant.

Thi s is the first year I’ve added Encap Earthworm Castings to my garden veggies that are outside, in the ground and in raised beds. The Encap Earthworm Castings have helped to improve my soil along with composted garden mulch.

My garden plants are well, the carrots taste sweet, and my tomatoes are doing good.

I bought a bag of these castings and they were dried out and literally hardened into rocks in places. I contacted Tractor Supply and they offered me a replacement, and those are perfect. Very nice worm castings with no fillers.

Great price on ORMI product. I am planning my next year plantings and have stocked up this Fall 2022 for Spring 2023. This bag is currently less than $1 per pound for $30 pound bag. Other ORMI worm casting product cost $1.

I purchased warm casting last year for the first after reading the benefits and I’m happy I did! It really has made a difference! My plants love it! I use it on my indoor plants. I haven’t tried mixing it with soil while repotting what I do is sprinkle on top and lightly mix with the top layer of the soil every couple of months before watering.

I was a little worried because I read some reviews complaining of bugs in the bag but I have not had a problem in the two bags I have purchased.

Was excited about my purchase. When I picked it up, 5 of the 6 bags were fine. The 6th bag had packing tape wrapped around it and it was not as heavy as the others. I opened the shipping bag and there was a hole in the worm casting bag.

It appeared that a portion of the dirt had fallen out. I returned inside and was able to get my money back, but I had wanted the dirt. It was very sad that this broken bag had even been given to me and had not been replaced prior to pickup.

My son has two big dogs and one small backyard. I read this should help neutralize the urine spots marked by dead grass, but since it’s winter, we won’t know for a while. So the 3 stars is a guess right now.

My husband and I received our order quickly, efficiently, and in the best possible quality condition. Our fall vegetable plants are showing evidence that they love the product too.

It is too new to our household to evaluate outcomes, but I really like the design, directions for and easy-to-locate nature of this worm factory. I used to have a rather heavy homemade “worm box” and this should be a whole lot easier to manage, both as to location and to maintenance.

The book of directions is thorough and generally impressive and I am grateful for its thoroughness. It is in a hallway under a ceiling light fornow, per instructions for getting the worms adjusted to their new home, but will soon be easy to tuck into a sun room corner for easy management.

I ordered the Redi-soil 100% worm castings to add to my soil mix for starting of my spring seedlings inside. I ordered last month and shipped to store at my tractor supply. I like this product so far because it is 100% worm castings and not a bunch of added filler.

This was horrible stuff full of plastic shards as well as clay. I returned this and purchased another brand which was high quality.

I have planted a lot of new, young perennials this spring and added worm castings in each hole. My plants are thriving, nice green growth. Too early for flowers but plan to side dress as soon as I see buds forming.

Their worm castings are of excellent quality and are a must buy for spring planting. I have purchased worm castings from many different companies over the years and I think that Gardens Alive have the very best you can buy.

I give them a 4. 5 but there is no option for half a star. I havent seen lab reports i only did not give them a 5 because of 2 things one is inconsistent moisture level per bag which could be a problem that wasnt due to the manufacturer 2nd when i make my teas and put the castings in water i can see atleast 5 percent of volume wasnt actual castings like rocks soil unbroken down compost but i always love the color , lack of odor, freshness, its consistently good.

its homogenous. I wont grow without it. i wish i could find out the feed stock to see if i like them because the only castings i gave a 5 to was OGS out of CA Organic Solutions and they offer the printed reports and their feedstock is superb amendments.

If Wiggleworm could disclose this info i would give them the 5 regardless of the moisture level and low amounts of “filler aka non castings ” but its borderline neglible. Great Product but best price for sure.

From what I know of worms they don’t eat sand. This picture of the amount of sand in a cup and a half of the worm castings. It is a lot for such a small amount of castings. It looks like they are cutting the castings with sand to add weight.

Just a FYI My house plants are loving the castings.
