20 Best Wrenches For Mechanics (2022 Updated)

loved the set until I tried to use it. No deep well 9/16 or metric equivalent 14mm. Also missing 15mm Deep well, and 1/2″ end wrench. Unbelievable, these are some of the most common needed sized in the world.

Dewalt seriously dropped the ball on this one. I have over $2K worth of Dewalt tools that I love, and use daily, but I will definitely be more careful buying Dewalt tools in the future.

In my opinion, Dewalt has put together some nice sets. Well thought out, and with almost no repetition of sizes like so many “sets” have. I almost pulled the trigger on this set, but it is completely missing any socket in the 9/16″ size.

1/4″ or 3/8″ drive. C’mon guys and gals, that one is important. Almost nailed it !!.

I purchased this set as a Birthday gift for my Daughter and she loves it. De Walt makes great tools. My son uses this make of tools he has his own construction company. Their grandfather was an auto mechanic.

Pleasant surprise. Was up late one night looking at pics of nekid women and an add from Wally about this tool set popped up. Went to Wally’s site and checked it out and thought what the heck for $98 pesos I was a thief in the night or a trumpkin depending on the quality of the tools.

Clicked buy now and after I went back and was looking at more pics I got to thinking that I was gonna prob have tears in my beer. I thought a little more and decided that If they weren’t no good I could make trot line sinkers out of them.

Three days after I ordered them, they arrived here at BFE America and this was over the Labor Day weekend. Went to the ranch gate and picked them up and on the way back to the Casa I was a wondering if I was gonna be barking like a dog or fall down with a conniption fit when I opened the box.

Dropped the tailgate on the truck and opened the box with my goat sticker and slowly pulled the set out of the box with one eye open and one closed. Got the set out and immediately flipped the lid open to get the punishment over with.

By gawd!! This is a freakin good set of sockets! I was expecting maybe pot metal sockets for the price I paid for tools. I was wrong! These are high polished and have the looks of something that you would buy off a tool truck.

I know these are made in the land of almost right, but what ain’t now days? They got this brand of tool right! I was wondering if I was gonna be shamed to be seen working on something with these tools.

Nope, not at all. In looks they are right up there with the mega dollar tools. Can you strip the ratchets out and bust a socket power dogging on them? Maybe, probably but you can do that on a snap on also.

Now for the good——High polished well marked sockets. Case that holds everything together in its place for the most part and is easy to pack around, bottom drawer has space to through in a set of end wrenches for when you need one.

Some have cried that the case aint no good, I have not seen that fault. Maybe they are Kens and Karens? Now the bad—–I don’t see any really. I’m not a fan of pear head ratchets because I tend to knock them out of gear working in a tight spot.

But–that is just my preference. Would be nice if 1 1/8 and 1/1/4 sockets were in the set. I drive junker trucks and I bought this set to put in one so if I’m a thousand mile from home and I have a break down I’m not at the mercy of those who take advantage.

With this set of tools and a few more I would not be afraid to put a clutch in on the side of the road.

This year I took advantage of Walmart’s awesome sale prices on a variety of HART tools and accessories including this 215 piece Mechanics tool set, to give to my husband for Christmas. PROS: At $98, you really can’t beat the price for this kind of quality and given the amount, and variety of tools that you get, this set is well worth every penny.

The tools themselves seem to be very solid and well made. The entire tool kit came shipped with all of the tools, sockets etc already in place. The case itself appears to be of a very solid, heavy duty construction.

CONS: This tool box has two side latches, one on either side of the drawers. When the drawers are in the closed position, you pushed each of these latches so that they snap tightly into place. This prevents the drawers from opening up by themselves when you are carrying the tool box around.

Normally I would NOT consider this to be a con, however, these two latches are extremely difficult to pull back open. You have to pry each of them them open with your fingertips and because they do snap tightly in place, when you try to force them back open you end up hitting your knuckles right off the side of the case.

It’s quite painful. I bruised my knuckle TWICE trying to open each latch. Hopefully, after some use, these latches will loosen up a little. of course not so much that they won’t continue to snap in place but just enough so that me, or my husband, aren’t yelling out all sorts of obscenities trying to get into the drawers.

I like the socket set but there could be room for improvements such as a “kick stand” for the top. Which tends to open too far and could eventually break the hinges. Another improvement would be a different color for the sizes on the box.

White would work well in low light conditions. The Layout of the 3/8 and 1/2 drive sockets to me seem a bit confusing with some going from low to high and others going from high to low. There seems to be no real pattern but this could be for the boxes weight distribution.

I wish that the 1/4 ratchet was in the same draw as the 1/4 sockets so that I would not have to go into 2 separate draws. Also wish that the sockets went past 1″ size for those bigger projects. Overall I Like this set a lot and would recommend anyone who needs one to buy this.

Lots to like and a great building block to improve on.

I’ve had this set for a couple years now and when needed, each wrench has proved to be beneficial. I don’t feel any slippage while gripping, even with gloves, and the teeth lock on very well. There has also been no damage to the wrenches or what I’m torquing.

The case is a nice bonus as well. It is now as well built as DEWALT’s ToughSystem but sufficient for storage and an average week’s use. Depending on where and how it falls, there could be some damage to the case.

Overall, it’s a great package if you’re looking for a well-built set of combo wrenches.

This is a fantastic set of wrenches. The thing I like most about them is they’re longer than average wrenches you might buy. For this price their an easy buy. I wish Dewalt had a set of next size up wrenches instead of having to buy a complete set.

I have a bunch of these little Dewalt sets in their cases like this. Most are a good value.

In general, These tool sets are a great buy. The cases are super convenient. By far the coolest modular sets out there. All the tools in the sets are well made, with a great feel. These combination wrenches in particular are longer than you would find in other sets, smooth with a very positive feel.

This is a very well made socket and ratchet set. It is very, very, sturdy and does include a release button. The individual sockets are definitely stamped with the SAE or the metric designation. All pieces, the ratchets, the individual sockets, extensions, and angle sockets are finished to a professional finish.

All of the corners, angles, and depressions, and curvatures are manufactured so well that they appear to be almost machined. The case is very sturdy and has a strong metal buckle on every side. I really like the quality of this case.

All pieces of the entire set snap tightly into their slots and definitely stay very well fixed in position when case is opened. I like the way SAE is on one side of the case and metric is exactly opposite on other side making it easy to find everything.

This set includes 28 piece MM/SAE HEX keys, and a large set of star bits with a vinyl grip multi driver. I did a lot of research before buying and am really happy with all aspects of this set. I have used DeWalt power tools for years and I believe they put only high quality products on the market.

I almost forgot to mention how well the wrenches are made, they are well balanced and finished nicely. This is a large set, everything you will need in one place, and I carry it without hesitation up and down my long driveway to whatever car I’m using today.

You will really appreciate the quality, especially if you love good tools.

Great quality set! Great price for 200 pieces. The set is well thought out to provide 90% of tools you need in an emergency. I would also carry a knife, slip joint pliers, and needle nose pliers. The box secures the pieces well.

Just make sure you open it correctly or the sockets will spill. We have this as backup in our car. I truly enjoy using this set. The organization of the set and the feel of the tools is all quality. They have a lifetime no hassle warrantee.

I tried the 3/8″ drive to take off my wheels. My craftsman 72 tooth drive stripped (disappointing). Craftsman tend to add a bunch of less useful driver bits to raise the piece number. These provide what you will likely need instead.

All sockets are 6 point which secures to the bolt better. The wrench is 70 something teeth so you can adjust it instead of the sockets. These tools are better quality than current Craftsman. 95$ for this set is hard to beat.

I’ve had this set for a few weeks and I’m pretty pleased with the tools themselves. I had a project on my car I put off until this set arrived. The ratchet handle is very comfortable even when applying lots of force.

I was very pleased. The entire set has a great quality finish and feels great in the hand. Solid and durable. Now, the case. Not very pleased with the case. It’s built well but each compartment that fits a piece is extremely difficult to remove the tool or socket from.

It’s nice that if you drop or tip it over while open nothing spills out all over but it’s terrible trying to get anything out. LOVE THE TOOLS but the case leaves a bit to be desired. End result, would I buy again? YES! quality tool, strong ratchet, durable finish.

First let me say this is not a professional set of wrenches. But for the price they are not bad at all. They are good for home projects and repairs. And I would say you can also use them for auto Repair.

Not as much as for heavy use as a professional mechanic, but would be great as a back up set of wretches. The Finnish is of high polished chrome. But I recieved mine with tiny scratches and a few specs of rust.

As you can see they are not stamped with the logo of performance tool. They are just stamped with chrome vanadium. If your looking for a decent set of low budget wrenches for the home or light duty auto motive these will work fine.

My first set of my very own tools, and worth it!! Has all the key sizes, WITHOUT MISSING ANY, like most of the other sets, that cost almost twice as much.

If using them for their INTENDED PURPOSE, they should do just fine in any home mechanics garage. If you have a rusted nut, spray some WD-40 and let it sit for a while, give it a couple of light taps with a wrench or two, then try again! It has the “shiny” chrome vanadium finish that WILL leave fingerprints, so a rag/ towel should be brought along for cleanup purposes, as with most other tools.

Comes as shown in product description, with the plastic case, but I chose to discard mine, and opted for a “slimmer profile” case (my handy-dandy gallon-sized ziploc bag), that is big enough to hold all the wrenches horizontally ( which allows me to keep them in my “custom” case) and keeps them clean at the same time.

Theyre a decent set of wrenches for the price and I paid about 22 bucks for them in 2009. The finish is OK but thats not what I purchased them for but rather to have a handy set of both SAE & Metric wrenches I can haul around the property when working on equipment rather than a whole toolbox.

It would have been nice if the set included the 20, 21 & 22mm sizes to match the SAE sizes but thats just my preference and I rarely have a need for those sizes until today when I needed a 22mm because the 7/8 slips on my Oxygen Sensor.

Other than that its had some use and I really purchased it for the larger sizes and they have worked well even with some hard pulling they didnt slip. The downside to sets is they have all the smaller sizes you likely already have and most stop at 5/8 so getting up the 3/4 & 7/8 sizes saved me about 12-15 bucks by not buying those individually.

I do a lot of work on my older vehicles, all the lawn & garden equipment plus some extensive irrigation plumbing on several acres so I try to keep an extra set for the garage and another in the workshop plus some in the vehicles.

I dont think I can have too many wrenches or sockets and Im not at all disappointed in this set though my Craftsman tools are usually my go-to ones. I have found that I often need two of the same size wrenches so these are filling that void.

The downside on every set I have purchased including sockets is that the larger sizes are not included so thats what gives this 5-stars. The rating is based on what I received for the price and not that they are anywhere near the best available.

Well I used to buy Craftsman and have some very fine Professional grade sets, unfortunately despite their “lifetime” guarantee they are no longer made so I can never actually replace them if I were to break one.

So, because of this, I started looking for some high quality Lifetime guaranteed wrench sets to modernize my tool sets. There are plenty available for sure, but I found them all to be pretty much identical and having a wide range of cost none of them inspired me, then I came upon these gorgeous wrenches from Milwaukee and really appreciated their innovation and high-quality construction.

Now I will readily admit that nearly every feature of these wrenches is available from other MFR’s but interestingly no one offers them all together except Milwaukee and that was the deciding factor (along with their reasonable price) for me.

The modified “I” beam shank design is really easy on your hands. I call it a modified “I” beam design because while these are clearly shaped like an I-beam Milwaukee Engineers rounded or tapered the more traditionally sharp edges to provide for much more comfort than the blade shank design and avoids the other “hot spots” from traditional I-beam designs, for me it is a perfect compromise.

These also have large easy to read contrast painted size markings on them which doesn’t make you have to strain to see them when you are looking for that particular size even from a distance they’re easy to distinguish.

Finally, and probably the best innovation/feature is their “max bite open-end grip”. Milwaukee has done a really great job solving some long-standing short comings of standard open-end wrenches by likely completely removing the tendency for them to round over fasteners and at the same time providing more grip than those same traditional open-end wrenches we have all been using for decades.

I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t mention that while the box-end is by no means thick and bulky it is not the thinnest wall available but to get a real thin wall combination wrench set you would need to spend 2 or 3 times what these cost and I don’t need them that thin for the kind of work I do, so for me, this is not an issue but you will have to decide for yourselves depending on what you are willing to spend and how you intend to use them.

Needless to say, I am extremely happy with my decision to purchase these modern high-quality innovative combination wrenches and highly recommend them to others.

I got these to replace the mix-N-match metric set I had been using as a road tech. Our equipment used fractional hardware until the last few years, so as I was using metrics more frequently, I got these rather than taking my Snap-on set from home.

I don’t like cheap tools, but these days there isn’t much between Chineseum and a $500 set. As a field technician, tools sometimes get lost and occasionally grow legs, so I didn’t want to go the $500 route.

At the price, I thought I would give Milwaukee a try. I know they aren’t US made, but from what research I did, these have a reputation for quality. These performed very well. The slight swell in the center of the handle makes them more comfortable for high torque applications than my straight handle wrenches, and the jaws in the open end are less prone to slippage than regular flat jaws.

The box end is slightly fatter than the more expensive brands, but I didn’t have problems getting them in anywhere. They engage with a very positive feel, so you know whether you are fully on the fastener even if you can’t see it or put a finger on it.

either they are engaged or they aren’t, no slipping off. I came away very impressed, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these. The only negative I can give them is that they don’t have a 24mm either with the set or available separately.

I don’t consider it to be a full set without that, and I had to carry an off brand 24. Hopefully Milwaukee will “finish” this set eventually.

These are very good quality, I rate them up there with the best. But. for building custom cars and motorcycles we need non maxbite to not marr up the fasteners on our high end clients vehicles. I kinda like having all the same brand wrenches, but can’t with Milwaukee because so limited in sizing.

Would be nice to see 4. 5mm all the way up to 36mm if not up to 42mm and yes we all like no skip sets haha. Im sure Milwaukee has the customer base for this expansion.

The actual tool set is great but the case is terrible. Every time you open the lid many of the sockets fall out. Same thing happens when you try to close the lid. I tried another set and it was worse.

When I called Dewalt they informed me that the case was not included in the warranty as it is considered a “shipping case”. If you want a good set of tools that you intend on moving to another case buy this.

If you are looking for an all inclusive set to use and carry with you in the included case I suggest you buy from another manufacturer.

I purchased the big set during a sale. I expected to provide them as my ‘borrow’ tools for those who visit to work on their projects. On a day when a rusted T40 bolt on a 1989 frame was breaking my tools, I grabbed the Dewalt in desperation.

I applied everything I had. Suddenly, there’s a firm snap and the wrench went slack. I thought, “Yep, it broke. ” No, it didn’t break. The bolt had snapped loose and I was impressed. I’ve experienced the same with the sockets; Strong.

The Taiwan tools in 2018 are are a complete turn-around from what I have from 15 years ago. This tool-set at the 2018 price is unbelievable. The case is not great. Some cases will drop tools as you attempt to close it.

The ratchets seem very good, but the mechanism may not be as awesome as the sockets. I have yet to use the Allen-keys. I wish they offered expansion socket-sets. Currently, I’m looking to expand the range of larger 1/2″ drive sockets and it appears they will be purchased individually when available.

Its not gonna set you back at the price, its case is durable on the exterior, the inside of the case could be modified to fit better so that sockets and alan wrenches wouldnt fall out of it when you open it.

I personally do prefer to have the impact ready sockets as they are supposed to be able to absord the wear and tear better. Regardless its still a worth it purchase. I use mine on the boat at work so.

Great buy. A set that has most of the pieces I need. Even hex wrenches /driver & bits have shown their value for my little backed up projects!! Will get my money’s worth, for sure! Only thing is: I wish a few common sized wrenches were included in set.

I loved my set bought it for about $30 when a hardware house closed up, then stupid idiot doing a job left it on the roof of my cruiser and lost it. missed it so much I went an paid high price from USA, the toolset is very useful it all in one with the 3 in 1 ratchet, if you looking for a versatile well packaged socket set then this is the one to get.

I completely had a moment with the name versastack and didn’t hit me until I got it. It’s a perfect stack on the rest of my tool boxes. Secured and can be easily rolled to the area needed with no rattling and falling off.

The design is perfect to have all your tools organized. One thing craftsman a never fails is common sense organization and high quality products. I will edit in some pictures and video tutorial soon.

I’m currently driving to California to move there and did a quick tune up on all the cars and moving truck we drove just in case. Just need to cut down my video. I’m a professional mechanic as my trade but has been my hobby since I was a teen.

So these tools get used and beat up daily and still hold up perfect. The compact design and easy to get what’s needed would be perfect for on the go. Can keep in car just in case of an emergency. Will probably get one to keep in my truck at all times in case I need them for work and keep one at home.

This kit is a complete set of 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 sockets/ ratchets. I found this to be the most comprehensive yet still portable tool kit on the market which is exactly why I decided to order it. The tool trays are removable to make easy access to the socket set you need.

I found myself removing the tray and setting it next to whatever I’m working on to make the sockets within arms reach. The kit pretty much met all the expectations I had in mind. My only complaint is I wish it had torx sockets instead of the hex sockets.

I visit the junkyard quite frequently and decided this is the ultimate kit to take with me as one of my issues I’ve had in the past has been having the right socket size or type to remove various parts.

I also like how this kit makes it easy to keep track of what sockets/ tools you might have forgotten to put back since every socket has a place in the recessed tray within the box. It makes quick work to verify that you have not forgotten any sockets on the previous jobsite.

I will be purchasing another one to leave in the trunk of my car for comprehensive emergency repairs.

I spent hours comparing and researching different kits. After buying a couple different sets and comparing side by side. It was immediately apparent that this was the set to keep. I spent about 210 dollars before tax, for the 12 point set.

A serious deal! While the toolbox is not the sturdiest. It is hard to beat the organization and having every tool you need in one spot, let alone the portability. Often times the driveway isn’t the best workspace and for bigger jobs I usually take my car projects indoors.

And having the ability to grab my tool box knowing where all my essential tools are is a huge time saver. The quality and quantity of the open ended wrenches alone is top tier, although I noticed one odd bend on one wrench.

Having all sockets I need, and a variety of extensions makes this the only kit you will likely need. It has been a long time since I have been so stoked about a purchase such as this. The 84 tooth ratchets are also of high quality.

I bought a set of the olsa swivel ratchets to complement this kit and couldn’t be happier.

So I use these as a machine mechanic in an industrial environment, that being said these wrenches are very nice. Comfortable and dont bite into your hand under high-torque conditions. The anti-slip open face part is very good.

It grips like a gorilla holding onto a banana! My only complaint so far is the ratcheting side is a little stiff on the ratchet return I guess you could call it so I really have to hold the bolt head or nut from spinning sometimes, which is the only reason for the 4 star instead of 5, because sometimes it isn’t so easy to use both hands while using the wrench.

Other than that these things rock!.

I lost the 13mm wrench from my set, is it possible for me to purchase a single wrench or get a replacement?? I work at a shop and these wrenches have come in handy more than once, there’s no way to reverse the ratcheting so be careful in tight spots not to get the wrench stuck with no way out.

I like them a lot but it saddens me to look at my now incomplete set everyday ??.

it’s a well-set-up case. the products are of good quality and hold well on bolts. Feels good on hand with a secure grip. Plenty of size options. I think its worth the price as I keep my tools for ever.

This set comes with all that I need and more. The price is really great for what it comes with. Duralast tools have come a long way and will continue to buy their tools.

Pretty complete set . Only thing I would say they should of included are more wrench sizes . They do include a good variety of half in drive tho

Has just about everything you would need for automotive repairs. Life time warranty. Take to home depot, no receipt, no questions asked and get a new replacement. Ratchets are solid! Unlike craftsman you actually get useful tools not a bunch of screwdriver bits.

Case is rugged but wish the drawers would lock. Weighs about 40lbs, when I carry it the drawers slide out a bit. But I got it for the tools not the case. Nice chrome finish with easy to read sizes on the tools.

If you need a good set to put in your vehicle or starting out with your own car repairs I don’t think you can go wrong with this set.

I’m almost well organized now, even for someone in their mid sixties. I can move it around quite easily, the size stamped on the sockets is very easily read, and time well tell with the quality, but the tools appear to be crafted very well.

They are easier to spill over because the sockets do not snap in the storage case, like my other socket set, but on the other hand sometimes I have pry the sockets out with something and this Husky sockets are easily remove without any finger tips aching trying to remove them.

You will be happy, save some valuable time, and have a toy that makes life a little pleasurable.

I have owned hundreds of sets of tools i do machanics on most of my junkers but the toolsets are renowned. I have had this one 268 piece set 5 years i would say the best things about this one is organization easy to keep up with because of its case man you will love this one.

It is like pulling up to the toolbox and walla i can fix lawn mower chainsaw cars trucks tractors you name it this thing is my good good buddy all the tools you need. except special ones. all in all i love this tools and box tools are quality and even though i got mine at christmas it was on sale for 150.

The 234 pc Dewalt mechanics set is a great product. As with most Dewalt products, they are well made and quality products are used. There are so many sizes and both metric and SAE and are well organized.

It is heavy to carry, which keeps the kids from playing with it. The case however holds items tight on the “lid” portion, but the bottom portion the items are loose and fall out super easy. If you open it upside down watch out, your toes will get smashed as everything comes tumbling out except those items in the lid portion.

Those in the lid you have to pry out.

Great high(er)-end name brand quality for great price. I can not find this exact set (using DWMT45434) on DeWalt’s website, but can find similar collections that include the same basic tools that cost a lot more.

Purchased two of these sets as a great start for each of my two sons. One will be used as intended, as a Mechanic’s set (on vehicles, etc). The other one will probably mostly be used for random house-type work, which may be overkill – but is there such a thing as too many tools?.

This has been the best tool set I have owned. The set has everything you need in a hurry when on a road trip or when you are working in your garage. The thing that impresses me the most is that this set has 234 pieces and the case is not that large and none of the pieces fall out of their slots.

I have owned multiple tool sets by multiple brands and this Dewalt set is by far the best I have owned.

A lot of fillers but decent supply of sockets. Ratchets are the quick release which are better then the non quick release ratchets in many Dewalt sets! Sockets easily identified and have knurling on them for gripping which is nice feature.

The set has 1/4” drive sockets but bon1/4” drive ratchet which is super strange but a 3/8”-1/4” adaptor is included. No mechanics wrenches are included in this set. Summary, nice set but I would have rather had the 1/4” drive instead of the assorted bit ends.

Really impressed with this tool set. They are easy to use and the sockets all have a friction ring which makes them easy to spend and grab. The sizes are clearly etched into the sides of the sockets and the sockets and tools are designed to to stay inside the case.

The set is made in Taiwan, however I do not mind that because they are strategic partners with the United States.

I believe that the quality surpasses the competition. The sockets are a exact fit, no sloppy movement which causes bolts to be rounded off. Also I put the ratchet to the test a week ago after I stripped my dad’s expensive ratchet trying to break a bolt free.

Bolt is off thanks to my new socket set.

Works like it ought to. Nice clicky sound, swell chromium plating. Fits on both bolt heads and nuts of the. 5 inch persuasion. I really like this wrench and it is proud to take its place in my array of mechanical tools because there was a void where its forbear was before it failed miserably and ended up part of a whimsical sculpture which has yet to find a permanent home because we already have a few of them.

Quite a few. Lots in fact, and somewhere along the way we have reached near-total saturation of sculptures in relation to the permanence of the marital bonds which I value much more highly than the number or quality of sculptures.

I recently bought a new (to me) motorcycle that had a heel shifter installed, and I wanted to remove it since I’m not used to heel/toe and it’s not comfortable for me to have it, I’d rather have extra room to rest my heel.

Anyway, it required removing two 10mm bolts, a process that looked to be straightforward until I discovered that one of the two bolts was not being gripped well by my 12-pointed wrench and was rounding the bolt.

Turning to YouTube for guidance as I usually do in these situations, the simplest suggestion was to try a 6-point wrench. Seemed like the easiest, most cost effective solution – and it was. Really that simple.

It did its job. I can now enjoy my rides more!.

This is a very thin wrench, and it is nice to use in tight spaces. However, the thinness of the lever is tough on the hands causing pain when loosening a very tight fastener. On the positive side, the finish is nice, and the ratcheting mechanism is quite good.

I plan on using this wrench only to remove already loosened fasteners, because the ability to quickly ractchet in close quarters is a very desireable feature (and use another tool for loosening very tight fasteners).

As of early 2020, I will update this review if the tool fails to hold up to use (and that may or may not happen).

i gave this as a gift. i have a set of my own and maybe used it a couple of times but is worth keeping on tap, for example of the three bolts for a fuel pump on a detroit diesel engine you cannot get one of them off without using a wrench of this type.

The tools are amazing. I’ve used it while moving us from Indiana to Ohio when my truck broke down. Thankfully I limped to an AZ and worked on the truck in their parking lot. I’ve used it while driving down to TN from Ohio to look for a house (that turned out to be some kind of guage thingy on the outside of the transmission.

Again, thanks AZ and their parking lot. I’ve used it TONS of times broke down safe in the drive way too. It has all the tools you need to get the job done minus something unique like the ball joint press kit (hoping to get Harbor Freights soon and not have to borrow from AZ).

I’m sure there is more out there to make you life easier but as a beginner I’m too ignorant to know what I’m missing. My amazing hubby was the one that worked on our vehicles and I’ve been learning how to do things since he passed away.

I don’t have his tools as my (now in prison for life) father in law stole them and sold them. SWEET JUSTICE! So far we have learned to change the brakes, rotors, calipers, tie rods, ball joints, gear shift on the steering column, wheel hubs, emergency cable thingy, fuel filter, oil (including the high pressure oil pump), serpentine belt, some pulley thingy the serpentine belt runs through, springs, shocks, struts (?), control arm ball, heater blower, tailgate replacement and handle/lock, bulbs for headlights & taillights, things with only letters (ipc?), various other things that were gauges, controls and computer based thingies.

They have also worked on engines, blades, belts, blah, blah, blah of push and riding mowers, tillers (big and small), installing a dishwasher (I hard wired it myself!), changing filters, fixing sink pipes, faucets, replacing toilets, and other household stuff.

One annoyance is the sides of the sockets are hard to see and I sometimes have to angle/move it around to see which size I actually have. Things I hate about this kit. The (spit) lying (spit again) box.

Not the tools. I love them! <3 But, I. hate. the. box. Let me tell you why. The pictures show all these beautiful tools, organized and shiny in their little spots. But, they're LYING TO YOU! The sockets are just sitting there.

They’re not being moved, folded up, used. Someone had to sort all those back into their spots. When you open it your sockets are everywhere. The box likes to pop open and then they spill while you’re carrying them.

It’s REALLY REALLY IRRITATING for them to fall out on a white rock driveway. Have I mentioned I hate the box? It causes one to want to throat punch the designer of said container. and I’m one of those hippy moms that believe in natural consequences and doesn’t spank or whip.

(No the kids are not yuppies or disrespectful but somedays they like to make me question my parenting styles. They’re good kids and have worked on it probably more than me since they all get involved and help.

) My advice to the box engineer. 1. What I would love to see is for the sockets to all have a flip lid like they have for all the socket bit thingies with the stars, 6, 8,9 etc shapes. THAT is lovely.

There is NEVER an issue with that and it’s beautiful. 2. Make the trays, all 4 “sections” of tools, come out of the case. then you’d have this kit that can easily be popped into the vehicle for trips or nestled at night into it’s toolbox drawer for sweet dreams.

3. Add something dark or whatever so you can read what the size is on the socket when it falls or gets jumbled. 4. Fix the latch. It just gives way and at the most annoying of places. 5. Perhaps make the case like a toolbox even.

these are pittsburgs best sockets and ratchets. I need a full set to carry around and have gone through no more than 3 of the 100 piece tool kits before they became scattered and missing critical components.

of special note are all the hex and star sockets on this set that I really like. the tool box in my garage stays put and this is almost a complete set of tools that i have in my rolling set up without my air compressor.

the one tool I wish this came with that was not included and is no longer available is the extendable 1/4 screwdriver socket tool that would have been the icing on the cake. the latches are high quality metal that snap into place so no chance of a breakage on the case ruining your set because it cant stay shut.

I bought this on sale and for the price there is no more complete tool set that you can buy new for that amount of money and get the quality. the case is very heavy to carry around but as long as you have a place in your vehicle to put it and dont have to move it around too much, its not so bad.

the pliers are good. like the swivel head 3/8 breaker bar with locking postion at the straight point. this will be the last tool set Ill need to buy so I didnt mind spending the extra money and with the coupon it was a definite must have.

Just my two peanuts about this set. It does give a generous amount of thin walled sockets to get a great start on those, however they heavily favored metric sizes and skimped out on SAE. All the ratchets included feel great in their use and pleased with their fit and finish.

The screw drivers feel light and cheap but so far they’re usable. The box this set came in does seem pretty durable which is a good thing if you wish to keep it portable, I am not going to use it as my intent was to fill my tool cart with some basic needs tools and this set did a good job giving a variety of which to give a foundation build off from.

I’d recommend this set if you find it with the 40 dollar off coupon or intend to keep it in the box as is for a portable set to take to work on something in a field or as something to be able to work on a car incase you break down (the cheaper 225 piece set might do better for that).

If all you intend to do is fill a tool box and this 301 piece tool set isn’t on sale or have a coupon then maybe just scrounge up the extra money and get the Quinn “master technician tool set 428 piece” instead because you’ll have to spend more on some wrenches anyway with the Pittsburgh set, while the Quinn set offers combos as well as ratcheting versions and is of better quality overall vs the pittsburgh.

I purchased this for son. And he used it as soon as he received it. Very happy with the mechanics set. He said he will for sure get alot of use this 119 piece husky set. Not just for his car but his music instruments.

I like this tool set. The value is no different than if I purchased it from a DIY store- so I entered NO for “Is it a good value?”. Nevertheless, I like the tool kit.

I bought this wrench because I needed one and this one appears rugged as well as stylish. And I love that it is a couple inches longer for that ease of leverage.

I used the nickel balls from these to update the pulls on two small table lamps which had bulky wooden fobs previously. Very nice pulls, and great value for the price!
