20 Best Wyoming Elk Units (2022 Updated)

First, I do like the color shading, that shows the difference in land ownership. I don’t like that I can’t load the map on the BaseCamp software (can only view with the GPS plugged in). I purchased the Utah map, and some private land didn’t have any ownership info, and the lad I could find the names, there are no phone numbers, (just names don’t do much good).

I also don’t like that you have to pay for updates. For the price, the color shading isn’t worth it to me, and I’ll be sticking with the Garmin 24k TOPO maps.

Every do-it-yourself hunter should have OnXHunt chip in their Garmin GPS. It will prevent you from going on private land by mistake.

Great for distinguishing public vs private land. You can save numerous waypoints which is so helpful.

My unit came with a new boat purchase in the fall of 2021. My simplified evaluation is that it tries to be all things to all boaters rendering the would be simple tasks as difficult, hidden, dependent or impossible.

There is a lack of programming cohesion – most functions have multiple approaches but there is no similarity between similar functions. Many functions are just plain annoying: a simple touch of the screen executes a cursor command knocking your screen out of essential situational navigation, you can restrict visibility of waypoints and routes on the chart screen but they appear and clutter the navigation screen making it essentially unusable.

“Easy Routing” is totally useless. I boat in Mid Coastal Maine and a simple route puts you in peril or even on dry land. It has no AI capability and is simultaneously annoying and dangerous. Great screen, Tides is a great addition, Yamaha integration is helpful, Processor speed is very quick, Integrating audio, video, phone, etc.

on a single screen is consistent with automotive development and points to the future. Some good, some “not quite fully developed” but pointed in the right direction and some just not right.

Not a freindly Sonar unit. Way to many unknown menu items with little to no explaining what they do or how to us the feature. The owners manual is over simpified and the You Tube videos are great but leave you trying to remember what you just learned.

Re-booting the system every trip with NO SOURCE displayed at weird times. Losing the Radar the Sonar and the Mapping drives me crazy. So shut down mid trip, re-boot and they will all come back. I have owned Lawrance, Garmin, Humminbird units.

All are easier to use than this system. Tons of money spent with tech support at local marine centers and the result is more issues. I cannot recommend this flakey system to anyone. SORRY!.

Faster screen refresh, intuitive operation, versatile screen setups, having both touch screen and keypad functionality a real plus. Velocity tracking of moving targets with dual range very beneficial especially when in even bright daylight you sometimes cannot see a boat coming at you from behind.

Also have set up fuel management on my carbureted inboard. What a fantastic feature to have. I can see instantly fuel consumption rate, fuel range, fuel used and remaining fuel. So reassuring and another boating safety feature to have.

Keep up the great products.

I recently bought a Lowrance HDS Live 9” unit to replace a Lowrance HDS Gen 3 unit on my saltwater bay boat. After one trip to the Gulf of Mexico, I am pleased with the HDS Live unit and how Fish Reveal works.

It was quite easy to target fish on submerged rigs with the 3 in 1 transducer so I will give this unit a rating of 5! However, my rating for Lowrance is at best a 3 based on the lack of support from Lowrance technical staff! I have owned Lowrance / Eagle units since 1981 starting with the paper graphs.

Most of my units ran great but I did have significant problems with a few sonars and the support from Lowrance was less than acceptable!!! I will only discuss my HDS Gen 3 unit in this review. Beginning last year, my HDS Gen 3 unit started having sonar issues for both chirp and down imaging.

The sonar would stop working or just index at a slow rate plus periodic touch screen problems. I was able to resolve issue sometimes with soft / hard resets / touch screen recalibration. I finally called Lowrance technical support.

The technician told be my transducer had failed and it needed to be replaced. Based on my internet research, I absolutely did not believe this was the problem and I was able to evaluate the HDS Gen 3 unit on my other boat confirming that the HDS Gen 3 unit was the problem, not the transducer! I also visited a local dealer in SW Arkansas to confirm my thoughts, too.

This HDS Gen 3 unit was bought in September 2016 as part of a Skeeter Bay Boat purchase. I was extremely disappointed that this unit failed in 5-6 years. My expectation was for this unit to run for many years without any problems.

I have other Lowrance units that run 10 times the hours of the HDS Gen 3 unit without any problems. I am extremely disappointed with Lowrance technical support, and this is something you should consider before buying a Lowrance system.

I considered Humminbird and Garmin but chose Lowrance because of their reputation. Unfortunately I was disappointed. Support from Lowrance is simply nonexistent. On trying to pair my Power Poles ( as Lowrance advertised as a feature) I had issues.

I have worked in IT and Telecom for over 30 years so I should have found this easy. I followed written and YouTube instructions and it didn’t work. After two hours on the phone I was transferred to Level 2 Support.

After 45 minutes on the phone with them I was asked “What brand of Power Pole are you trying to connect?”. I told them that I was trying to connect the only brand that Lowrance will interface with but the model is a Blade.

Over three hours in I gave up. The Live mapping is FAR WORSE than anything on the market. I had and used Insight Genesis service. I have a Humminbird Helix 7 ($600) that is far better than this $3400 HDS Live.

The HDS units sow 8’ contour lines over the top of shore lines that are 4’ out of the water (zoom into photos). If Lowrance had tested this on the water for 10 minutes they would know the Live mapping is not ready for release.

They advertise the ability to interface your cell phone. It works but they don’t tell you that you cannot respond to text messages if you have an iPhone. To their credit: the side imaging is very good.

Fish reveal is very good and makes the most of the available screen size. As the industry leader Lowrance should hold themselves to a higher standard. People work hard for money that these graphs cost and they deserve a working product that has good support.

Just recently received my unit and being completely terrified to start the learning process. I’m 67 and like most my age technically challenged ,I did spend time learning on YouTube doing the best I can to prepare and highly recommend doing the same.

Well Geezers Fear Not! I took my time programming in the driveway and glad I did. I fish tidal creeks for bass and speckled trout through the winter creeks and they are pretty narrow so Side Imaging was my main interest.

I set everything for a 15’max and 50′ wide and proceeded to the river. The detail with Mega Imaging was incredible and as I made my way down the creek in total amazement. I came to the last bend in the creek and notice many shadows on SI just like the manual could it be? Yes, I turned around to fish into the current and proceeded to catch 15 trout in the next half hour.

To say I was excited is the understatement of the year. I have always been envious of the bass pro’s and didn’t realize that it was now within reach for the average guy. I realize I have a pretty narrow focus of use but have already using a lot of other features and expanding my knowledge and it is awesome.

I recently talked to a guy that has a Mega 360 and has never seen a fish on it, he said I never adjusted anything. Take you time and tweak!.

Great unit for the sale price I found. Works great for my 16ft. Did change out the transducer for the trolling motor mount very easy through Humminbird. Easy to install, set up and makes it much easier to find structure and drop offs with side scan and crisp down imaging at the bow.

I have not been able to get GPS to work yet need to go back and look at that. But I have a Lowrance hook triple shot on the transom and it works about the same image quality but the Hummingbird performs way better in shallow water.

They are better units for bass fishermen in my situation that fish shallow more often. Would buy again but get the 9in for a bit more real estate.

My first fishfinder was a simple Humminbird Piranha. Did the job, but I wanted more. Got a great deal on a different maker’s 7 inch top of the line. Big mistake. Never worked properly. Terrible, incomprehensible manual.

A lemon. Dumped it for a Helix 7 MSI G4. WOW! What a difference. Way better than the other fishfinder. Incredible sonar. The Summary Guide got me started quickly, and the simulations are terrific. Easy to set up and easy to use.

Wish I had stuck with Humminbird all along.

cable tray with lock like other models would have bee nice. I worry my cables may come loose on my in-dash mount. color of boat heading indicator is green which blends in with any areas that have been depth highlighted which makes it useless.

Same problem with bouys being lost in color background. Suggest that ALL navigation/hazard bouys be CIRCLED with a COLOR that is NOT a background choice such as red/ green/ blue etc. must be some color that would make all of these markers STAND OUT.

Exactly what I was looking for for my two man boat. Chartplotter worked great charting the small lake I frequently fish. Had a small accident and capsized boat and Fish Finder was upside down in water for over 30 minutes trying to get boat to shore.

After ensuring a dry out, plugged it up to battery while boat in garage and it works great. I would give it 5+stars for being waterproof. Good job Humminbird! Now I just need to spend time getting more accustomed to features.

This is my second on X chip I have purchased for my Garmin 66i. The literature states it will not work in a 66I, but both my Nevada and California chip do work for me. I will tell you this, the chip I received from Sportsmens warehouse was faulty.

I then tried it in my friends Garman 750 and it did not work there either. Fortunately customer service at onX is totally awesome, they sent me a new chip sight unseen, and it worked just fine in my 66i.

Also this goes to all potential buyers: I was real reluctant to trying the on X system on my phone because I love my GPS it works anywhere I go, but I found out the onX on the phone gives imagery from a satellite and obviously my GPS does not give satellite imagery so I am now converting I like both the phone app and the GPS chip.

I bought the premium sd card for my pc. I was disappointed in the features. The property owners are not on the version I bought, if you click on the property a prompt will come up. The prompt says for another fee you can see the land owners.

That’s why I bought the sd card for that feature. The rest of the features, for trails stand markers are like a cheap video game. I feel this version is not worth the purchase price. Don’t waste your money what the packing says on the outside is not what is on the sd card.

Hunt elk in NW Colorado every year on public land. Knowing property boundaries is critical. The map chip seems to be much more accurate and easier to discern bounds than the Garmin Hunt chip. However it is extremely sad that the chip lacks the layers such as imagery that Garmin offers and even OnX offers through their subscription service.

It was very frustrating in fact that I had to continually look at my dads gps which had the Garmin card that did feature boundaries as well as imagery. In addition the topo these guys put on this card lacks a lot to be desired.

Again, had it offered similar layers and detail to the subscription service for iPad it would be awesome. In addition for small gps screens I could see not wanting the imagery or more detailed topo but that’s why we own gps with the largest screen possible.

So if you want to avoid trespassing, buy it. But just know that you’re going to also be carrying your iPhone with maps downloaded for offline use if you plan to hunt unfamiliar areas.

I had a claim on a chipped Lastra plate and purchased the Route Protection and thought, no worries. WRONG, the item has to be smashed and broken into a million pieces. A chipped plate is still usable, in their eyes, even though you paid a lot for a perfect plate to arrive.

Vietri came to my rescue and replaced the damaged item. Vietri’s customer service is awesome, and I really appreciate them. Route, not so much. if you are worried about porch theft, Route. otherwise, I’d safe the money.

I’ve been waiting for this piece for almost a year. When I got it, I used it for baking Lasagna. The casserole was cooked perfectly. The baker was easy to clean, just soak in water, then brushed off the burned pieces along the rim.

Can’t go wrong.

The unit seems good, but it is hard to get working properly. The raymarine forum hasn’t been working since june 2020 so it is hard to get technical assistance. I have the element HV connected in a NMEA2k network to an emtrak B921 AIS.

The element is not displaying any AIS locations. The AIS appears to be transmitting on NMEA according to its diagnostics, by the element does not have any diagnostics like the MFD axiom to actually troubleshoot.

I cannot see any settings to fix this. I have a navionics map sd card which I have selected as the map source. When I first used it, the proper level of detail displayed. Now it seems to have switched to extremely low resolution.

I can’t find any setting which fixes this. The GPS location is accurate and I am 99% sure the navionics card is not yet corrupted. The element should be able to obtain power from the NMEA2k network. However this doesn’t seem to work.

It will only power on if separate power cable that connects with the nmea2k cable into a single connector is connected to the battery. Lastly the unit should have shipped with a HV100 transducer but this was not present.

I have contacted support but this has not yet been resolved.

I would give the Element 7HV a 3. 5 rating so far – after about 1/2 a dozen uses so far. The unit’s speed and responsiveness when switching screens is excellent, as advertised. The function of the hypervision, sidevision, and downvision has been quite good.

However the standard CHIRP function has been quite sensitive to noise – I have had to frequently adjust the sensitivity and noise rejection settings to get a reasonable, usable display and I often lose the depth reading when the setup is not just right.

Also, I recall reading or watching a video somewhere that suggested that several desirable features may be added in the future with software updates – for example, perhaps the ability to use a remote display app like you have in the past with other products.

However, the website shows the most recent software update to be over a year old at this time. It would be nice for the user base to know what updates may be available in the hopefully very near future.

I bought this unit for my kayak and could not be any happier! I was moving up from another brand (Lowrance Hook 2 7) that did not last 2 years. Upon installing and using the Element 7, the first thing that was very clear is it is night and day different.

It should be since it is in a much higher price range. The images are crystal clear, the functionality is quite simple and user friendly. I still have a lot to learn with it but feel like I will be very happy for many years to come! To be fair, there is one negative that I have noticed.

When on a mapping screen, there is a lag between movement of my kayak and when it shows on the screen. I heard Gene Jensen mention the same thing so I know it isn’t just me. I wish it updated the on screen icon a little faster.

Aside from that I am very happy with my purchase. It feels like it is built very solidly, actually has some weight to it. I am very hopeful that it will last many years.

I bought this because in the description it said it easily converts to an automatic feeder. The kit listed to convert it to the automatic feeder is no longer available through Cabela’s/Bass Pro. I tried to buy everything to convert it to an automatic feeder before I left the store.

The store representative at the Bass Pro store where I picked up my online order was friendly and tried to answer my questions, but didn’t really know much about the product. Once I got it home and tried to assemble it, I realized that everything needed to convert it was not there.

It does not appear that it is available through Cabela’s or Bass Pro. I went to the Boss Buck website and the necessary parts were not listed there also. I have tried to call Boss Buck twice to get the mounting plate necessary to attach the automatic feeder.

Both times I waited for over an hour until the call was disconnected without ever talking to a representative. I am extremely disappointed with Cabela’s, Bass Pro, and Boss Buck. I will be hesitant to buy anything from either of these companies ever again.

I bought this feeder due to its convertability, its capacity, and it’s components. As far as I could find, Academy was one of the few places with a 350 lbs. feeder available. Assembly was very quick and easy.

I was forced to buy the spin cast attachment thru another vendor. As well as the varmint cage and the solar panel. All in, it was about $175 to purchase those accessories on top of this feeder. The legs feel a but flimsy and I’ve heard of horror stories of squirrels chewing thru the barrel material though that jas not happened to me yet.

It has been exactly what I wanted thus far. Now I’m hoping it’s a long term investment.

The feeder is a great feeder, but it was not the feeder shown in the pictures, as the one in the pictures has heavy duty 1 piece legs & the one that arrived had multi-piece light duty legs & also when it arrived the box was torn up & looked like it had been dropped several times from a high bridge…I contacted sportsman’s warehouse & advised them of the situation & condition of the box & the fact that there was none of the bolts & hardware that I needed to install the legs or close & keep the lid closed & I even sent them pictures of the condition of the box as it had been in when it arrived at the house, I also explained that the feeder I received was NOT the one that is in the photographs.

They said that I could return that feeder & they would send me another, to which I explained that I couldn’t return it as the box was just to beat up but if they would ensure that I got the one with the heavy duty legs I’d purchase another & when it arrived I’d pack the one that I’d just received in that box & return it, they said the one I had gotten with the light duty legs was the only type they had, when I asked why they would show one feeder in the catalog but sale a different feeder they said that they only use the stock photo from Boss Buck, I then said I would call Boss Buck & try to get a hardware package from them, that way it would save both Sportsman’s Warehouse & myself money, to make a long story short, Boss Buck didn’t have a hardware package I could get, so I elected to try & purchase the items I needed locally…still trying to save myself & sportsman’s warehouse money.

They told me that they would sent it to a different department & have a credit applied to my account…so when I hadn’t heard anything from sportsman’s warehouse in a couple of weeks, I called them & asked about the credit & that’s when I found out what kind of company they truly are…the lady I spoke with asked how much the parts cost me, I told her that the parts I had purchase locally had cost me a little over $40.

00, I had forgotten that I had to purchase a thumb screw from the internet which cost me another $10. 00 & change…well she came back & said that they could give me a $40. 00 credit…to which I replied what about the time that I had to take out of my busy schedule & the cost of the fuel… Well that’s my story of my first time dealing with Sportsman’s Warehouse…sadly to say it’ll probably be my last time.

Would I purchase another Boss Buck feeder…yes, most definitely. Would I purchase it from Sportsman’s Warehouse…NO, most definitely not.

Wanna catch the eye of any bass, be sure to add this addition to your jigs or spinners. If there is a bass nearby you can bet these extensions will get their attention!! Zoom splittail trailers are a great way to get those monsters coming after what you’re slinging!!.

The Zoom Split Tail Trailer 4″ is one of two trailers that I throw on a spinnerbait. The other being a 4″ BioSpawn ExoSwim. Great spinnerbait trailer for a great price.

Cabela’s clearly states this is a 1200lb Protein Feeder. It’s not. It only holds @ 900lbs. If you go to the Boss Buck website, it clearly states it will hold @ 1200lbs of corn and @ 1000lbs of protein.

The product itself seems fine, but we just put it out. As for the “1200lb protein feeder” it describes, I would not recommend. Because it is not 1200lbs.

We found one of our 1,200# feeders ¾ of a mile away after an insane midwest storm had washed it down a river bottom. We found it while we were turkey hunting b/c the cows were congregated near the woodline staring into the river bottom.

After walking over there, we found the feeder completely intact, albeit a little dirty. After a short ride in the back of the pickup and a quick wipe down, it was back in its home and full of corn to feed the wildlife.

that was 2 years ago and its still in great shape today. Highly, highly recommend this product!.

These 1200 lb feeders are awesome. Once you fill them up don’t worry about going back for a very long time! They are easy to set up, light considering their size, and easy to adjust for the deer. If your going to feed the deer year round, then this is definitely the way to go.

I will spend more time hunting and less time filling. The local store here in Richmond, VA was very helpful in purchasing this unit and having it delivered. THANKS!!!.

Since Garmin has discontinued Birds Eye, this is the only way to upload satellite images into my 2 year old GPS. The picture image quality is absolute junk compared to Birds Eye. at almost $90 a state!!! Plus, you have to upload the entire state, eating up your SD card.

My GPSMAP 64sx just became a VERY expensive paperweight.

This is a great tool for preparing to hunt out west All of the details of the land is remarkable. Would highly recommend its use. Im heading to Montana on an elk hunt and learning everything I can about the area before I get there is a definite game changer.

Works great on my Garmin GPS also.

I purchased this unit for my pontoon boat. I wired it in myself, as I did for all of my instrumentation. Very easy only an idiot would have issues wiring it in properly. There were no problems with the unit when removed from the packaging.

I would suspect any issues like that could be easily exchanged had I encountered an issue. I would give this 5-Stars if there was a dash mount option as I had space for it in my dash. I fabricated brackets myself and it looks and works great.

What I found appealing about this feature is the SD card I can purchase with all the lakes I use this boat in. The color screen is bright and easy to read in bright sunlight, as you would expect. My goal for the unit is to understand bottom contours and shallow depths and an insurance to preventing lower unit or prop damage.

I have set up my gauges to include Depth, Speed, Time, Sunrise/Sunset & Water Temperature. The main screen has my make plotter displayed. It has provided my with accurate and fast data while underway.

I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a great entry level unit that has many features of much more expensive units.

This product works as advertised but the challenge is the screen size. It’s extremely difficult to see bass using side imaging or down imaging on such a small screen. Everything is compressed so it’s the difference between looking trying to find Waldo in a “Where’s Waldo” book in a large 13×11 book size picture like a 12” screen in book versus a large index card with the same image.

I’ve played with the side imaging rage to reduce it to around 15’ on each side for better results, but it’s still a challenge seeing bass and now with a reduced capability. I should have purchased a larger unit because this is virtually unusable for me in a canoe even with it only 2-3 feet in front of me.

I have a trolling motor propelling forward so it’s not that I’m stationary trying to use side imaging. I have to get extremely close to try and make out the image. Again, the product does what it says but you just can see well.

Forget standing trying to view it. I wish there was a way to connect a larger monitor that merely duplicates what’s on the head unit.

Purchased this unit to replace my 80’s fish finder with expectations that it would out perform the fish finding capabilities of my old unit. This is great for navigation and observing bottom structure but it fails greatly as a fish finder.

With fish ID and fish alarm turned on, fish can swim directly under the transducer and NO alarm or image observed. I reinstalled my old unit and with the use of a floating transducer setup I could clearly and accurately compare bottom structure and depth between the two units.

When fish would swim under my boat my old (Not hummingbird) fish finder would immediately identify the fish and I did clearly see the image of the fish but Nothing of the fish observed on my new hummingbird unit.

Do not get rid of your old unit too fast!.

amazing product but unfortunately students shoved a banana into the drain and there is no way of fixing the clog, and the next day the facet cover was taken during one of the “devious licks trends” on tiktac.

Later through the week I was informed the entire Elkay-EZH20 water station was stolen. After watching the cameras I installed off of etsey failed to show me what happened. I later checked the bathroom logs and discovered the student who had taken the Elkay-EZH20 water station had put it in his/her backpack and was carrying it around the school.

Great product but I’m a little disappointed about how easy it was to remove the water fountain from the wall. But the water fountain was not harmed as it is made of stainless steal.

This is a very nice water fountain unit which I installed in a church lobby. There has been several positive comments made about this, so users are happy with the unit. As is probably true of most units like this the amount of space available for the three necessary utilities (power, waste water system, and source water) is very limited and not very flexible.

My advice is to reconfigure your utilities in the wall precisely the way it is documented in the product literature. I did not do that and had to reconfigure things as I went. The resulting installation was subject to many adjustments, elonging the installation time.

The installation documentation lacks lots of details, which may not be important for professional installers, but impacted my own installation as a non-professional. I reviewed the documentation prior to purchase, and was left with the impression that there was a lot more space for utilities.

It turns out that space is really, really limited.

We bought this drinking fountain for our new office remodel and it has worked perfect ever since. It is perfect for employees to refill their water bottles time and time again with cold filtered water.

It’s a great design and completely accessible to everyone. Now instead of buying bottled water, we have this great drinking fountain and saves us $. Highly recommended.

Will not last around hogs. I’ve had it for close to a year and regret buying it. I used it as a gravity feeder throughout the year and switch to spinner during the season. First few nights the hogs knocked over the feeder.

The metal legs are not sturdy and one of the legs got bent. The lid popped open and the hinge also got damaged. The legs do not sit wide enough. The opening to the gravity feeder is too low to the ground.

I’m 6′ and it sits somewhere between my knee and mid thigh. I had to buy metal fence posts to slide the legs into to help with these issues. I also bought some feet that you can put a spike through. All three lips on the gravity feeder opening that help contain the feed have been removed by the deer or hogs.

Feed will just pour on the ground now. I do not use it as a gravity feeder anymore. I do like the plastic container, the ease of switching from gravity to spinner, and the simplicity of assembly. It just won’t last against Texas wildlife.

Didn’t even come close to lasting a year the way intended on using it.

I could not get the map card I purchased or the replacement map card I received to work in my Garmin eTrex 30x; I got the message “Cannot Unlock Maps” both times. (And yes, I did communicate with numerous Garmin Support people.

) It may be a really great map card, but the ones I got were shooting blanks both times, so I’m going to avoid a Round 3.

The product was advertised as mortise & tenon construction yet contained screws. Secondly, there were two joints critically located @the back base of the chair, where the angle of the vertical 2” wood changed.

This tremendously decreased the product’s quality. This should have been 1-piece for increased structural strength. All else was fine.

BEST company in the entire world ! One of my chairs broke from a very over weight guest of 400 pounds + and they replaced it for me. The customer service was so pleasant and responsive. Immediately they sent me a new chair.

As far as the chairs simply gorgeous in my log cabin and so well made. I can’t say enough about the quality and customer service! Thank you! MAV.

It is exactly as pictured. Lighter than I thought. But perfectly fits around my kitchen table. Great support for your back. Love this chair. Probably wouldn’t work however for a very large person.

I bought these as I had seen them in a Facebook post as being on clearance at another location. When I went to order from my closest store, they were still full price. As I wanted them, I ordered them, but it would have been better to get them at the reduced price.

They are great regardless. Keeps cold for at least 18 hours or more.

Love the look and the cups are great. I haven’t used them yet as I bought them as a gift, so I can’t really attest to thier ability to keep things hot or cold. However, I do believe that they will. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about were the straws.

They’re kind of flimsy and I’m not sure how long they will hold up.

I stumbled on this company and decided to give them a try. Long story short, best tool in bag besides my weapon of choice for the particular hunt. The ability to know exactly where I am at any given point is an advantage like no other.

I have been able to get into areas that I once thought was private, however using onXmaps I quickly changed that belief. I can navigate into areas now knowing I am not trespassing at any given time. I can view land owners and speak with them as needed to gain permission for access or hunting rights.

I have used the Google overlay as well and the topo features to determine great areas to set up for my hunt. I was approached by a land owner once in the field who was determined I was trespassing on his property.

I quickly pulled out my GPS and showed him my exact location and that I was in fact on PUBLIC property despite his beliefs. The situation was quickly resolved. Truly a great product and I never leave home without it.

Let me start by stating that OnXMaps are fantastic. I purchased the chip version for Idaho and used it on my Garmin 64. This purchase also included the app for my iPhone XR. I used both during my 2 week hunt last fall.

I found that the OnXMap product is much more useful on my iPhone due to the larger screen and better resolution. I will always have the OnXMaps app on my iPhone with me on future hunts, but I would not spend the money on the chip version for my Garmin.

I will still always have my Garmin with me for back-up, but it will only have the Garmin or open source map products loaded on it.
