20 Best X Wing Builds (2022 Updated)

Hands down one of the best UCS sets ever made. This thing is absolutely huge! A remake of one of the original UCS sets from 2000, the X-Wing is one of the most iconic ships in sci-fi, if not all of movie history.

This incredibly crafted model pays great homage to the on-screen vehicle, with intricate details, proportions and angles. From close up and far away, this thing is stunning. You couldn’t ask for a better set.

A true display piece, it has everything you could ask for in a set made for showing off. I would reccomend this to any huge Star Wars fan or any Lego collector that appreciates exquisite building and detail.

My son, now in his 30’s, loved Legos as a child, and also loved all things Star Wars. Back then, the only Star Wars ships you could build didn’t have moving wings, and when my son saw this lego set had come out, he put it on his Christmas wish list.

I was so happy to find it on the Walmart web site. Delivery was prompt, and even sooner than predicted. My son was thrilled on Christmas morning to open this gift and get to relive a little of his childhood.

He and his siblings (also all adults now) spent a good part of the days after Christmas working on this and thoroughly enjoying themselves. However, it should be noted that this lego set is not for young children, but much older ones.

I strongly recommend heeding the age suggestion on the box (16 and up). Thank you, Walmart, for having a hard-to-find item. I knew I could count on you.

This was my first Lego build and it was great. I wanted to try this before investing in the UCS millennium Falcon. It was super fun and the end product is really nice. Great display piece!

I was excited to hear that LEGO would release an affordable Luke’s X-Wing set. The Sequel Trilogy X-Wings were a little too expensive for my taste but this set lets you battle the Empire on a budget.

Design:LEGO makes great use of the parts to create a “streamlined” version of the Rebel X-Wing. The wings could be a little sturdier but that would require more pieces, resulting in a higher price point.

My only real complaint is that LEGO advertises “retractable landing gear” and it is absolutely not retractable. It would’ve been a simple thing to include but it isn’t a deal-breaker. Build:The build was fun and didn’t take too long.

500-ish pieces is the perfect middle ground for someone who wants to immerse themselves in the build but doesn’t have 5+ hours to dedicate. This would be a great set for a parent/guardian and child to build together.

There are really simple moments that I found myself breezing through, but the mechanism that allows the fighter to transition from cruise to attack mode (where the wings form an “X”) was a beast and required some real concentration.

There were some stickers, which is to be expected, but not enough to make the process unenjoyable. It took me about 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the set from unboxing to “swooshing”. Playability:The starfighter is relatively swooshable and easy to hang onto.

Switching from cruise to attack mode is a breeze and can be done with one finger while “swooshing” the set around. The Rebel fighter features two spring-loaded shooters that are ready to take down any LEGO TIE Fighters that might show up.

And an extra red projectile is included. There’s also, as always, a spot for R2-D2 to ride along. Aside from the spring shooters and “X” wing formation, there is not much else to this set. But there doesn’t need to be.

This is Luke’s X-Wing and, if you are any kind of fan of the Original Trilogy, it will push all the right buttons. Display:The set looks great on my shelf. The only downfall is that the fighter cannot be displayed in its attack/”X” formation without the assistance of a few extra pieces but that is true to canon as an X-Wing is, as far as I know, unable to land in attack position.

Minifigs:We get three minifigs and our trusty droid, R2-D2. Luke, Leia and the set-exclusive General Dodonna all look good, although R2’s head printing was a little off but it isn’t noticeable unless you’re looking really closely.

Luke comes with a blue lightsaber including a shiny silver hilt and Leia and the General both sport blasters. Value:The average price-per-piece for this set is 10. 5 cents which is very good for a licensed set.

There are no side builds or “bonus” material but what we get is very good. It’s a $50 Luke’s X-Wing, something that fans have been wanting for a long time. After ordering the set, putting it together and flying it from my living room up to my bedroom, I can say that this is a near-perfect set for a LEGO enthusiast who wants a fun, enjoyable build experience without having to take out a second mortgage.

Well worth the $50 price point. Final Thoughts:It’s Luke’s X-Wing. If you know, you know. Great, affordable set, really fun and interesting build and decent (including one exclusive) minifigs. If you want more than that, then the Force may not be as strong with you as you thought.

This was the first Star Wars Lego I bought for myself after previously being gifted the Resistance A Wing. The price point was a huge factor for me as it’s great to see a good Star Wars kit that isn’t £90+.

I’m very pleased with the amount of pieces, building experience and end result for this price. The inclusion of Luke, R2, Leia and General Dordona is also nice. It’s a very interesting building experience, particularly the complicated arrangement of Technic pieces that “lock s-foils in attack position”.

There are a lot of stickers which I’m not a fan of, but they work to give it those distinctive markings. My 6-year-old has recently gotten into Star Wars and was excited to help me build it. The Technic workings are a bit complicated but otherwise he was able to build whole sections himself, so I’d definitely recommend it for younger kids as long as they have supervision.

He’s also had a lot of fun playing with it and we’re looking at a TIE to battle against next. However, I feel the kit is spoilt by a couple of poor design choices. The main issue is the front landing gear is held on very loosely and falls off with the slightest touch, so I’ve built a replacement as it will otherwise certainly be lost.

I wish they’d done the same retractable gears present on the A Wing. The long thing blasters on the wings also fall off very easily, but are at least big and easy to spot and replace. Overall still a very nice kit and superb value for money.

I wasn’t sure what I was expecting at the $50 price point. Previous iterations were much better in terms of durability and features. At $50, it is a decent set. Deploying the wings was disappointing.

I was hoping for at least a knob like past X-Wings. Instead, this one just has an exposed technic piece that you press to spread the wings. To collapse them, you squeeze them together. The landing gear is fixed and cannot be moved or hidden, and the front landing skid falls off easily and frequently.

If you want to swoosh it around without the landing gear, you need to remove them. This set is ok for a child to play with, but expect pieces to come off and constant reattaching of said pieces. There are only a few good spots to hold the model, and it was clearly designed to be displayed in landed mode.

Overall, I cannot say that I really like the set. It is decent as a display piece, but other X-Wings looks much better and have better features for only slightly more money. I definitely see myself breaking this set down and using the pieces for MOCs.

I am slightly disappointed and hope future sets are better designed than this one.

As an adult, I got this set specifically for the Poe Cameron and BB-8 Minifigures. Being designed for ages 4 is clearly indicated on the box, so if you’re expecting a complicated build, you will be disappointed.

Also, unlike most LEGO sets, this one comes with no extra pieces. But the completed model looks nice and can easily sit on a small shelf or desk for decoration. 4 stars because $14. 99 would be a better price point, but I know the mark-up is a Disney choice and not Target’s fault.

If you were expecting this to be the same caliber as a more expensive set with more pieces, you will be disappointed. However, if you have a 4 year old who is obsessed with Star Wars and Legos, you will love this set! It was the perfect ability level for my 4 year old to build almost independently, and he loves it.

The wings seem like they will come off easily, but I liked that he is able to attach them by himself. He absolutely loves this!.

This kit is perfect for small children, who often are overwhelmed by piece count and lengthy directions. This kit is the least expensive kit i have seen to date that includes the BB-8 minifigure, making this set PRICELESS to those of us who must collect the most iconic minifigures.

The kit is the right size for a kit to play with, and easy to put back together since it doesnt feature complex joinery. you could easily fix this after a drop in between cutting vegatables (i did =]).

This set is a great addition to any Lego Star Wars set! The build was really enjoyable, and the X-wing looks great alongside any other Star Wars ships! The mechanism for the wings has been done really well, along with spring loaded firing lasers! These both add a fun addition to the set.

I’ll be displaying mine mid flight via a stand. Although with 4 minifigs included (Poe, resistance pilot, resistance ground crew and BB8), a ladder for climbing into the cockpit and a small loader, there is definitely a lot of play to be had from this kit! Now a retired product, but definitely worth looking around to pick one up!.

ok, so I go to buy this set from Walmart and it is freshly sold out. I am a HUGE lego fan and I have always loved lego’s sets. this is one of if not the best by far. the ONLY thing wrong is the bright blue rubber bands that take over the ships center purpose and put it to the back.

now lets do a little remembering, the reble x wing can have the engine block pulled out and had an old torch trooper. now, this set compared with the hasbro version is SO much better for a few reasons, 1 the piolet accually fits in the lego one and 2 it has 2 proton cannons (stud shooters) while aslo having not 1 not 2, but 4 blaster cannons on 4 wings while the hasbor version has 1 AND ONLY ONE gun, the proton cannon.

I have no modifycations for this set, it is already perfect.

Poe’s X- Wing was probably the best Lego I’ve ever owned, and I own a lot of Legos. The design was awesome and very fun to build, and the black and orange color is so cool. With a twist of a gear, the wings open and close with the help of blue rubber bands.

The spring loaded missiles are also very cool. Poe and BB-8 are the best mini figures, and I really like how his helmet visor is attached to the helmet and not on the face. Overall this is an amazing set that is totally worth the price!.

Decimator is a fun ship to put on the table to give the Empire some staying power and size on your side. They work great with mini swarms of all sorts of Tie fighters. You definitely want one if you are an Empoire player to give you versatility and power.

Originally buying up the main canon ships and playing thematically I am really happy I decided to finally get this awesome large empire ship. Really creates a lot of good new squads given most other factions had good large ship options.

No defense dice, 3 dice bowtie turret, and 17 health of hull and shields to chew through. And Disciplined allows you to barrel roll a large base Ship, which is hilarious. 10/10 would recommend.

The dark paint scheme looks great on the HWK’s relatively smooth body with bits of grey and green providing sharp contrast. Paintjob is very clean. The Y-wings don’t look as great though, with lots of detail being lost in the dark paint.

Nice to see they included the scum cards from Jango Fett’s Slave I expansion.

Black is back baby and this is another excellent upgrade for Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures 2. 0. If you are a long time player or just starting out or somewhere else this sweet squadron pack has something fore you.

Nifty alternate paint schemes, new upgrade cards, new pilots and the support of multiple play modes like Standard, Epic and Extended.

I mainly got this expansion for the paintjobs, as they look quite nice, but I feel it would have been much better as 2 HWK-290s and 1 Y-wing, as I feel most X-wing players (including myself) already have multiple Y-wings.

The new pilots and upgrades are neat, but again, less impressive than the Rebel and Imperial counterparts.

I’ve missed out on a bunch of Lego sets, falling out of it in 2014, but now I’m back into it and collecting them full force. I love the Imperial Shuttle and have always wanted one ever since 2005 when I was a kid staring at the Imperial Inspection (7264) set in my Lego magazine.

Unfortunately, I missed out on the Tydirium, which I heard was an exceptional set. This is a good replacement for a cheaper price. Some compromises were made in it that knocked a point off for me, such as the Minifigure count and the belly of the cockpit being visible, but those were my only gripes.

I know Vader’s arms did not come printed and would have been nice, but it was not a dealbreaker for me. I would have appreciated a cheaper price considering what was cut, but as I said, I have been looking for an Imperial Shuttle ever since I was a kid.

The lever system for the interior is ingenious but ended up cutting out interior space, which isn’t too much of a complaint from me since I am just putting it on display, but for others who look to buy this for play, that is something to keep in mind.

I had fun building this set and recommend this to anyone who missed out on prior sets like me.

This set is a great starting point to make personal improvements. It has all the main elements in a overall clean looking design (if you don’t look at it from a low angle in the front). The hinged design to access the back is great.

The size is good for storing away, and the build is quite solid. The back interior space is surprisingly big and is only limited by a bunch of pieces added in the instructions. Leaving out suggested pieces allows 4 figures to fit comfortably in the back.

If you look at online LEGO instructions for older models you can get ideas to improve the cockpit and allow it to fit two characters and clean up the extreme gaps visible in the cockpit when viewed underneath (but that modification will require extra pieces).

Now the build playability goes on for hours. Overall I love the look of the ship and it’s one of my favourite Star Wars vehicles.

When I first saw the leaked image of this set back in November, I was super hyped for it. But as time went by, that hype has kinda faded away. This set leaves a lot to desire once in hand. I’ll start with the good things about this set.

It’s value is pretty good as far as an Imperial Shuttle goes. Also the building technique in this set is pretty good as well. The play value is met well. Now to where this set really falls apart. The figures are one of the most disappointing things about this set.

3 figures!? And what happened to arm printing Darth Vader?! This set provides what I call a BAD FIGURE SELECTION. I can understand people who’d buy this for Luke and Vader instead of paying an extra $30 for Luke and Vader in the Death Star Final Duel Set.

But to be honest, you’re getting a whole lot more in the Death Star Final Duel set if you ask me. The other thing that this set falls on is the cockpit. The cockpit is absolutely ugly. And I immediately saw how they could have fixed the cockpit piece by a simple change.

The cockpit front is just. really really bad. But overall, this set is good. I’d rather buy this shuttle for $70 than pay $200 – $400 for the old 2015 shuttle. Like I said, play value is good, build is good, but the figures and cockpit are horrible.

I always been a Star Wars fan – and my 5 years old son is fan of LEGO, I bought the X-wing on amazon so we joined strengths and built it together. My son has built the cabin, it was a little challenging for him in a few places, where many of the pieces look similar but for the most part he was able to follow the instructions and build on his own.

I built the engine, props and wings. The wings deploys with a push of a little button on top into the shape of an X – I absolutely love it. The are 2 blasters that shoot lasers when you lift them up a little, they need to be loaded in a certain direction to work correctly.

The little R2-D2 and Luke Skywalker are piloting the x-wing, the whole thing looks absolutely awesome! It took us about 2 hours to put this together. When following the assembly instruction it goes pretty straightforward.

I’m glad there’s step by step hardcopy instruction – not just QR code to the pdf. I have read some reviews as some people complains about some inaccuracy in details, but in my opinion, the details are just incredible.

There’s only one very minor detail – the landing gear doesn’t attach well and sometimes falls off and you’ll have to be careful not to lose it, it may require a very minor modification it’ll be just fine.

Everything else is superb, once we built it, I done a few photos to show you how incredible it looks. I’m giving it 5 stars, the model is absolutely phenomenal! btw. I attached a few photos to show how good it looks with some proper background.

It’s not perfect – the wingtips and laser cannons are not great compared to some other X-wing variants – but gosh this has come a long way since the very first Lego X-wing was introduced back in the late 90s.

I now have three different variants of the X-wing and they just keep getting better. What I like most about this one is the new mechanism for opening the S-foils to put the X-wing into attack position.

Previous iterations use a knob (the very first one you just pried open and pushed closed) this has a lever that turns the interior Technic mechanism to open the wings, and a pin to close them. That, plus the brick-built rear engine, is what made this a must-buy for me.

Minifigs fans will love the return of Biggs and the introduction of a brand new moulded Rebel pilot helmet. A great addition for the collection – and several missile firing mechanisms for playability if you’re buying this for an actual kid as intended :).

since 1999 lego has produced a number of X-wing models. each iteration better than the last. for the Rebel era X-wing, it doesn’t get much better than this (except maybe the more expensive masterpiece version).

good parts count, easy to follow instructions make it a joy to build. only downside is that Lego discontinued this set, making it somewhat difficult to find at a good price. even so, I would still say it that is a must have for any Star Wars Rebellion era enthusiast.

The X-Wing looks very beautifully detailed. The Technic lever mechanism used to lock the S-Foils into attack position, the close the wings trigger at the bottom of the X-wing, proton torpedo stud shooters and spring loaded lasers cannons are something kids as well as everyone else who are huge Star Wars fans to enjoy.

I love this Lego set.

I like buying LEGO sets because it’s a great way to spend time with my daughter. But she’s 12 now, and wanted to do this one all by herself. She enjoyed making it, but of course, didn’t get all the pieces SOLIDLY put together, so this one falls apart rather easily if you don’t use all your hand strength to assemble.

The details are great.

Probably one of the best lego sets I’ve ever had, definitely my favorite ucs and favorite set under 2000 pcs. Really interesting design, solid and sturdy, would recommend it over most current sets even at a seemingly high price.

Wings are easy to knock about and engines can fall off, but the main body of it is wonderful. This set proves that the number of pieces is far less important than how they’re used.

This item is great to use as a game piece or simply to display. It is great to show off with other ships from the same series. The ships are all the same scale and are all highly detailed considering their size.

The finished product is beautifully done. Due to it’s small size, care should be taken when handling as they are a bit fragile. Anyone who loves Star Wars ships will definitely love these.

This ship is bad. or maybe I just havent found a Niche for it. Every time i put it on a peg, i will soon be putting it back in its hangar as it folds so easily to literally any gunfire it takes. So, to start off, its dial is ok.

its exactly what you would expect from a drop ship like the Lambda, and its actually slightly better. 2 hards and 3 softs are all white, no reds there. and it also has a 4 straight, so its a bit zippy.

its only red maneuver is the 0 stop, which is expected. Firepower and survivability are pretty standard. 3 attack, 1 agility, 4 hull, 4 shields. This is where the new U wing flip card comes in. If you have it equipped (no reason not to honeslty), you get a agility is increased by 1, which is amazing for a drop ship.

Here is where it suffers. the rebels dont have an emperor Palpatine style card. So why have a huge dropship for some random crew when a Bwing with mod can hold crew too and be way more effective? or the Falcon itself can carry 2 crew and still be a very very strong ship.

the Uwing is overcosted, with no real saving factors to make you play it. the model itself is beautiful and that is the reason i bought it. little did i know the pain of losing it right off the bat almost every match its in.

The falcon does everything this ship WANTS to do, but exponentially better in every way. Play the falcon, avoid the U wing unless you just want to collect them.

The X-Wing miniatures game has come a along way since the core set and corresponding expansions of models in the core set. While the TIE fighter still sees a lot of use the X-wing seems all but forgotten.

It’s definitely not the best at any one thing, BUT it does a lot of things well making it versatile in a game. With new modifications such as the “vectored thrusters” you can add a barrel roll action to any X-wing which I believe will help make this ship return to more squad lists.

I find that mobility is always a plus so even tho a lot of X-wings don’t have EPT upgrades the engine boost or vectored thrusters MOD with an astromech that turns maneuvers green or allows you to recover shields makes for a pretty solid (but expensive) fighter.

As always the models are perfect and highly detailed. If you can eBay some of the Pilots that come with the rebel transport it’s definitely worth a go IMO, the Biggs and Wedge are good too.

Its Lego, its Star Wars, its overpriced. Its brilliant. Product in a damaged box, just as described in the listing, was complete and in good nick Building the x wing was a doddle for my Lego expert 6 year old grandson.

The X wing is now in pride of place. For as long as it stays together.

Whilst this and the 75237 (Tie Fighter Attack) offer smaller, less detailed versions, they are great for playing with alongside the smaller Millennium Falcon (e. g. 75105) and other Lego SW sets. They are easier to handle, robust and the size works.

So not for the purists but great for Star Wars fun!.

This was reasonably priced, a decent pack and easy to build. My son is building a collection of Star Wars Lego and this was a great addition. The guide is easy to follow and it allowed him to build it himself.

All in all I am very satisfied with this product.

The B-Wing is, in many ways, like a large base ship (ala the Falcon, Shuttle, etc) that happens to be in a small base. It has heavy firepower (including a cannon and ordinance), lackluster defense, and a good bit of health.

This does fit pretty well as canonically the B-Wing is meant to engage larger ships. The B-Wing is best in close range engagements with several sharp turns and short K-turns. With a few upgrades, the ship isn’t even concerned with colliding with other ships thanks to advanced sensors.

It is rather slow and vulnerable to arc dodgers like the, A-Wing, phantom and interceptor. The pilots are decent (though the best pilots are in Rebel Aces) with some potentially interesting abilities but in many ways, the B-Wing is best just on its own with generic pilots.

A couple of B-Wings can really ruin the maneuvering of a swarm or even arc dodgers and that strategy has shown up in some of the top squadrons at Worlds.

The B-Wing is a slow and ponderous starship, but that is more than made up for its durability and attack value. It can take 8 hits points and has a standard attack of 3. This is a true juggernaut whose purpose is to fly through the map and practically one shot the imperials out of the sky.

If maneuverability is very important this is not the ship for you, as expected it is a bomber style ship that moves slow and gets stress tokens more than its faster cousin: the A-Wing. For a truly deadly combo try : Ten Numb, Marksman, and Autoblaster.

This trifecta gives you a slew of un-cancellable hits if used at range 1 and has destroyed my tie fighters time and time again. A lot of fun and great option for rebel players.

As always the price is right and quality of the sculpt is great! These are going to be your bread and butter for a beat stick based squadron. enough shields to outlast almost anything and tons of firepower make these priceless! Add in rebel aces and you just struck gold! I run my rebel aces b wing and this one,both fully upgraded, in 100 point games and just do work! Two fully upgraded will be your entire squad too.

I bought an x-wing expansion pack for my brother, for Christmas. I really didn’t know anything about the pieces for the game. But the ship I got looked very detailed. It was cool. It didn’t take long to ship either.

And I was expecting delays. 10/10 will buy again.

I got this as a birthday present for my 15 year old. He likes playing X-Wing with his friends. This ship is a favorite among the boys who play together.

The price was very reasonable and it didn’t take very long for the product to arrive. The product box is in great condition and the service provided was very good

This game is a lot of fun, and as such I recommend anyone who is a fan of Star Wars, to buy and give this game a chance. The Core Set has everything you need for two players to get battling without needing to buy anything extra.

Even if you do not like the game, the Ship Models make for an excellent addition to anyone’s Star Wars collection. For those who played First Edition and have a decent collection of First Edition ships the Conversion Kits should be your first purchases.

HOWEVER, the Core Set is the only way to get Luke Skywalker, R2-D2 Astromech, and some TIE Fighter Pilots, as those do not appear in the Conversion Kits. This is therefore a forced purchase, for those who have played First Edition, if they wish to fly those pilots in tournaments.

Even with it being a forced purchase, extra range ruler, maneuver templates, dice, and obstacles, never hurts though.

This game is neat, I will start with its a star wars miniature dog fighter, with factory painted ships. This core set is very affordable considering most Core sets for miniature games come in at a much higher price point and you have to assemble and paint them yourself, and that impressed me.

This is a good impulse buy for a star wars fan. While the box set does not include all the ships you need for a “normal” game it does get you started to learn the surprisingly deep rules this game has.

Its simple yet very complex to learn to pilot these ships properly, Outside of ships it does include everything you need to play. I do like how FFG does the “expansion packs” ie additional ships. They include the tokens you need and all the cardboard game aids.

I’ve been a table top wargamer for many years largely for many of the last few years playing games workshop and I’ve always disliked their lack of game aids. This game is the opposite, every ship includes most of the tokens you need (they do assume you will be buying a core set for things like dice/range rules/basic tokens.

) The ships have cards (baseball sized) with their upgrades and all ad-dons to the ship also being on cards so you can organize them easily both on and off the table. Last think I will say is most the of ships are very affordable in price and look and feel pretty good, I personally think they look/feel better then their price point suggests.

If you are anything like me, I did hours upon hours of research on X-Wing 2E to determine whether or not I wanted to buy in. I began to think that I had to spend $300 on two factions just to be able to play.

Good news, I was wrong! The core set is more than enough to get you and a friend playing a one on one match. It teaches you the fundamentals of the game and will reveal to you if you wish to grow your collection.

I personally recommend getting two core sets for the extra movement sticks, dice, cards, and ships.

As a huge Y-wing fan, I love seeing them in the Resistance faction. Tough & versatile, but distinctive from the other models, this will add some nice depth to the Resistance faction.

Love this pack. The models are really cool and well detailed. Excited to use the upgrades in a match too

Almost excellent. It goes together well and looks good. Unfortunately the orange plastic colour is not matched by either the decal or sticker orange and this detracts from the finished product. To overcome this you have to paint every planned and existing orange surface, a painful process for 1/72 scale.

Also, don’t use the decals or stickers for any curved surface (engine intakes etc). They look fake, with slits cut to allow them to curve somewhat. Otherwise, great kit.

Great model, absolutely love the detail. Not a fan of the stickers or decals because I don’t have watchmaker tools and a magnifying glass that let’s me be perfect. So I hand painted everything instead.

🙂 Which is why I bought it in the first place. Sits on my desk at work, and I absolutely love it. Be careful with the blasters on the S-Foils. They’re thin, easy to accidentally bend, and very easy to snap off.

Bandai continues to impress in every aspect. Detailed, beautiful, precise, and easy to build models. X wing was no different. Easy to build and looks as real as it gets. Very fun build with no frustration at all.

I get excited when I see a Bandai model come out because I know 2 things. I will own it and it will be beautiful!.
