20 Best X Wing Expansions (2022 Updated)

X-Wing The Miniatures Game is still in the process of fine tuning its rules for ordnance, as using missile, torpedo, and bomb upgrades is generally advised against in the competitive world. However, recent upgrades have been taking steps in the right direction to make these options more feasible.

The Tie Bomber, with it’s high number of munitions upgrade slots is also improving due to these upgrades. As the game evolves, I believe Tie Bombers will have more options and become more versatile and capable.

The Tie Bomber is less maneuverable than a basic Tie Fighter, but makes up for this in having more hull points (“HP). IT has the ability to target lock and use secondary weapons, which gives it an offensive edge over the basic tie.

I have seen Tie Bombers used in 2 ways. They can be used to deliver ordnance attacks, and their named pilots make them especially well at doing this. I have also seen them used for a tie swarm. In a tie swarm, they are flown in large numbers without upgrading them.

While they don’t move was well as a regular swarm of Tie Fighters, they have a bit more staying power due to being able to withstand more damage. If you are looking to purchase this as a collector, the figure is top notch quality, like all of Fantasy Flight Game’s models.

If you are looking to purchase this as a player, I would highly suggest picking up a copy of the K-Wing or Tie Punisher expansions. Both Expansions come with the Extra Munitions upgrade, as well as additional ordnance upgrades that help allow the Tie Bomber to be a much better ship.

Additionally, owning multiple copies of the Tie Bomber can allow you to fly them in a swarm formation, where their named Pilot Captain Jonus can allow them to do some devastating damage.

The E-wing is an excellent jouster with great first engagement potential. Being able to take a lock on the first move then focus on the engagement round leads to great rolls. The only downside is they cost a lot of points even for the low initiative generics so you probably want to decide whether the points are worth a better x-wing, or to just fly the standard T-65.

Overall, this is a very good expansion. Pros: Excellent paintjobs on the ships; Comes with 2x Push the Limit, a very important upgrade card; Comes with Carnor Jax who is a great pilot; Comes with Royal Guard Pilots, which are also good Cons: The named pilots, other than Carnor Jax, aren’t very powerful.

Even Carnor Jax is situational because he needs to be in close proximity to enemy ships. This set also comes with 2x TIE Interceptors, which is great if you like that type of ship but not so good if you want more variety (compare this to the Rebel Aces pack, which has an A-wing and a B-wing.

) Tip: If you get this, also get the Star Viper expansion, which comes with Autothrusters – a defensive upgrade that would prolong the life of your TIE Interceptors.

This is my favorite X-wing expansion! It is both patch for underpowered ships (the X-wing needs some help to be good) and a bunch of new and interesting pilots. The upgrades are great as well. They give the X-wing options.

This set doesn’t just make the X-wing cost effective points wise. It makes it fun! The U-wing pilots are a different flavor than the U-wing expansion pilots as well. If you didn’t find what you want there, you probably will here.

There are enough pilots for both ship types that you only need another couple of X-wings to field a respectable force. It is also a good pick if you like the Epic format. Try Saw as a crew in the CR-90 sometime.

This set also has 1. 0 and 2. 0 components, so you can play in either environment.

Great deal on two well detailed and well painted models. Includes ALL components for first AND second editions of X-wing. Had my first run with Saw Gerrera and the Cavern Angels last weekend and even though Saw and his U-wing went down the Cavern Angels still seized the day.

Keep in mind the U-wing is a medium sized ship but has the same hull/shield totals as a b-wing or y-wing; thus, it’ll probably be focused on since it’s so big yet doesn’t have anymore survivability than a small ship.

Also, try Hera Syndulla as a crewmate, freaks the opponent out when you come to a complete stop for two turns in a row!.

This ship pack was more than expected. Was pleasantly surprised to find that it came with cards and accessories for both 1st and 2nd edition. I play Scum, but wanted a few ships that my stepson could try in starting out the game.

Combined with the Pride of Mandalore Reinforcements pack, he’ll have plenty of choices. Now I don’t have to worry about buying the Rebels conversion kit. At least, right away.

The Kimogila Fighter is a slow but stout ship. Looking at it’s maneuver dial, the ship can make hard turn, bank and straights at 1-3 speed and a S-loop at 4 speed. A hull of 7 and 2 shields help keep the ship in play but has a high chance of suffering critical hits due to a 1 agility and being mostly hull.

What the Kimogila does best is blast away at ships in it’s bullseye. “Dead to Rights” is an ability all versions of the ship share which keeps the defender from modifying dice with green tokens when in the bullseye target.

The two named pilots’ abilities also key off of the bullseye arc. At the end of the day, this ship can be deadly but they need an experienced player to really take advantage of it’s best features. Get some practice flying and getting ships in your bullseye arc before taking this ship for a spin and you’ll enjoy it much more.

Excellent ship to become a major pillar of your Scum & Villainy lists. At 41 points, the Cartel Executioner is a medium base ship with 3 attack dice that can tear up swarms and larger ships with its Dead to Rights ship ability, which makes it so ships in your bullseye arc cannot be modified using green tokens, a major crippling blow to ships it targets This is not the easiest ship to use though, as getting someone in your bullseye arc is not always easy, especially with a red barrel roll action, but the $14 price tag definitely makes it worth it.

The picture attached to M12-L Kimogila fighter is for an alpha-class star wing expansion pack. So if you think your getting the alpha-class star wing expansion pack, you would be mistaken. I contacted The Collector store immediately to try to stop them from sending the wrong mini once I learned it was not what was pictured.

And they sent it anyway, with the response of “well you ordered it. ” At the moment I am not impressed with them. I guess we’ll see how returning the Fighter I asked them not to send goes.

Recently started playing XWing game with my son, after getting some great deals on miniatures through MiniatureMarket. My sons loves trying out new combos and ships, and I like the models, so the more the merrier especially on sale!.

The TIE Phantom is probably my new favourite ship: it is so incredibly manoeuvrable. An excellent quick build is Whisper, with Stygium particle accelerator, vet instincts and fire control system. Tons of fun.

One of my favorite small ships from the Imperial Faction. Beautiful model, nice cards.

I’ve had time to fly both with and against against this beast and it won both times. Tons of load out points and option. Huge dial. Great new crew cards. The model is beautiful and not too large for the base, as is often the case.

At this point there isn’t a lot of “new” to X-Wing (non-competitive player). Nonetheless, I love the game, and I’m a big fan of The Mandalorian, so this expansion was a must-have.

Top notch miniature sculpt and paint. Impressive. Cards are very thematic and should be fun to play.

This Expansion is going to change how you build your Rebellion and Resistance lists for X-Wing. The new “Force Awakens” style Falcon features a new Han Solo, new Chewbacca, and introduces Rey to the game.

Han allows for early game deploy shenanigans, Chewie allows you a free attack if a friendly ship is destroyed, and Rey is just bonkers good by giving you two free re-rolls if your target is inside your firing arc.

The expansion also features a repainted T-70 X-Wing in Poe Dameron’s Black Leader paint scheme. And also brings four more X-Wing jockeys into the fray: Skill 9 Poe Dameron, Nien Nunb, Snap Wexley, and Jess Pava.

Each with useful skills and tricks that will pair nicely with previous pilots and upgrades. In summary, you get 10 new pilots, 2 Ships, and 13 Upgrade cards featuring Finn, Rey, and a new title card for the Millennium Falcon.

Well worth it.

The shipping time was outstanding, I received the miniatures well ahead of the estimated shipping time. The miniatures were in great shape and well packaged.

Even though this set did not include Poe’s X-Wing and cards, adding the YT-1300/Millenium Falcon adds a lot of firepower and just plain fun to your game. The lack of upgrade cards isn’t a huge loss if you have a good collection already, but you will definitely want crew such as Finn to fully utilize your ship in play.

And it looks awesome on display when not playing.

Most of the large class ships from this illustrious game have issues with fixing to their bases; however, I have had more of an issue with the Millenium Falcon staying fixed to the base than any other of my large models (I own a Lamda, Decimator, Slave I, and YT 2400).

This ship seems to have a little different weight distribution due to its design, and it pops off at least once per game. I resolved this issue by magnetizing the pegs. I shaved off the triangle peg position and glued small circular magnets in the holes, and it works like a dream now.

Peg issues aside, this is one of the best ships in my Rebel fleet! It comes with some amazing upgrade cards and really fun pilots. The most entertaining aspect is how movie-like the Lando, Han, and Chewbacca pilot cards are.

Fantasy Flight really captured the important elements of this ship. It is very large, but has some nimble little qualities and can zoom in and out of obstacles and other ships with ease. Having a 27 point option allows for smaller games inclusion of this ship and it gets pretty fun.

I enjoy mine a lot!.

I bought this for the miniature ship. I don’t play the game. It’s a great size to display on a desk or shelf. The painting on this is really good. The color is a little more bluish gray than gray as I’ve seen other places.

Just something I noticed. It doesn’t take away from the miniature itself that much. The weathering is really good. The package comes with a lot of extras for the game. If I played the game I’m sure that’d be a bonus.

It’s awesome. If you are on the fence of whether or not you want to play X-Wing I can tell you that it’s worth it. This is way less time consuming than other tabletop games and more affordable comparatively.

As far as rating the actual product it’s kind of a no brainer. It’s the Millenium falcon. if you are purchasing this for the sake of having a desktop model for collections purposes then it’s very fragile.

I wouldn’t recommend it if there is a possibility of it being knocked over. However if it’s in a child free/ very sterile office setting with no horseplay, then yeah it’ll work.

The upsilon-class shuttle can be viewed as an improved, more expensive version of the lambda shuttle that can attack and draw the opponent’s attention, as opposed always skirting the edges of combat.

The upsilon-class also has the coordinate action (one of the only non-huge ships that has this action) which is extremely useful as a support ship. The expansion also comes with conditions cards, such as “Fanatical Devotion” and “I’ll show you the Dark Side”, which adds new elements to gameplay.

The model is very detailed and impressive, with wings that can fold upward or be extended. If you are not a major x-wing miniatures gamer, you may still wish to get this expansion as a model to place on your shelf.

This is a great looking model. Excellent addition to add to the fleet and use as an objective piece. If you don’t play then you will enjoy the detail for dioramas or static display

I never got to play it in 1.0 but in 2.0 it’s a fun ship to fly. Until they re-release the ship I think this is your own option if you want to field it. It’s awesome, such a big ship.

I think this is my new favorite ship! I’d aways loved it from the moment I saw it on Rebels, and the in game mechanics really do it justice making it a fun and unique ship to run. Dropping a team for some added firepower is fun, and with the number of factions it can be used with it’s probably one of the best buys for people who have multiple factions.

The new Enduring talent card is a must for crit magnet, high hull count ships!.

The Komr’k (“Gauntlet”) fighter is the absolute best ship in the Star Wars universe, and this X-wing model will not disappoint. The detail and paint choice are superb, and the wing rotation to landing mode is incredible.

It also comes with a slew of great cards and components. Unfortunately the center shaft does not rotate as well, just the vertical wing motion, but it is still quite impressive.

Very nice model, it’s a little bigger than expected but sits well on its base. Comparable to the Ghost model in size. Seeing the wings swivel up and down together is a fun feature and helps to show the different configurations on the table.

Still haven’t figured out how I want to transport it, other than in the box it came in due to its size.

X-Wing “Most Wanted” sets thing straight in the X-WING Miniatures Game and provides the aspiring outlaw with enough gear and pilot cards to have parts of his Imperial and Rebel army rout and form the long awaited 3-faction of the game: The “Scum & Villainy”.

The box comes with 2x z-95 Headhunter and 1x Y-Wing, both in alternate colour schemes. It also includes Pilots, and Basecards for the HWK-290 small transport (Kyle Katarns main ride) and the Firespray – the latter also with a S&V version for Boba Fett and the Slave One.

Gear cards include a significant buff for the Y-Wing (forward fixed turrets for a double attack) and a new gear slot is introduced, exclusively for the S&V-faction: The “Ilicit” gear, which is most of the time some last minute buff or dirty trick, those criminals can activate.

I find a couple of things are desperately missing, though: And that is the S&V-versions of Han Solo/Chewbacca/Lando Calrissian-Pilots for the YT-1300, and for Dash Rendar (YT-2400), especially, since the latter was more a mercenary than a real Rebel soldier in his original lore.

Which is a big oversight for me. In general, though, the box is both a good and very affordable product, ideal and almost mandatory for both beginners and veterans who want to start collecting this independent, new faction in X-Wing.

I bought this set hesitantly, as I was unsure whether I wanted to invest in the new faction. I have not been playing X-Wing that long, so I don’t even have all the Rebel/Imperial ships. Well, turns out I never should have doubted because Most Wanted is AWESOME.

First I must say, the paint jobs on the Z-95’s and Y-Wing had me ecstatic. They look totally B-A, as the core ships for a bounty hunter/smuggler faction should. Second, you get a huge stack of upgrade cards, new ship cards, and dials which lets you re-purpose 3 of your old Rebel and Imperial ships as S&V ships: the Firespray-31, HWK-290, and an additional Y-Wing.

This not only adds a lot of versatility to your Scum faction, but it also means you can put together some very solid 100-point, tournament-ready squads with nothing more than the Most Wanted set and your old ships! The new unique pilots all have very cool abilities, by the way.

In sum, I love that Most Wanted takes some old Rebel ships, as well as the Firespray, and puts an entirely new spin on the game by opening up this third faction. There are loads of interesting new squad-building and battle strategies with Scum & Villainy.

Trust me, if you are debating this expansion or jumping into the new faction at all, just grab Most Wanted and you won’t be disappointed.

While each of the ships available in this pack has been released before, the repaints are of excellent quality. Additionally, since these include the gamepieces for the Scum faction, this is the only way (other than buying or trading for individual ship tokens and cards) to get these ships for the new faction.

The included upgrade cards are amazing, and the chance to re-purpose other ships for Scum is not to be missed. Also, although the set (and FFG’s original dial-must-match-faction stance) implies that you can only run 1 each of Firespray and HWK and 2 each of Y-wing and Z-95 with the included parts, because of the change in stance you may use the cardboard in several different combinations to achieve up to 2 each of the Firespray and HWK ships and 3 each of the Ys and Zs.

This can also go the other way, allowing you to use the Scum model of the Y as a Grey Squadron Y-Wing to run with your Rebel-model Gold Squadron, and likewise for one of the Zs.

I paint minis for decorations on my desk at work. I picked up this guy and the Millenium Falcon, and liked the factory paint job enough that I just touched up the engine exhausts, otherwise displaying as-is.

I didn’t see it anywhere in the description, but the wings move, so if you want attack position or. whatever they call the wings together position, you’re good.

The titular X-Wing gains a great deal of versatility in 2e with movable s-foils represented on the model and in new configuration cards

Well worth buying an additional X-Wing for a Rebel set up, you can get a pretty decent squadron against a beginner’s imperial force with three T-65s and these models have the S-foils too to make first edition players drool!.

The Hound’s Tooth has been a recent addition to my Scum & Villainy builds and it hasn’t disappointed me yet. Having six hull and six shields can keep it on the board for a while. It is a cross between the Imperials Lambda-class Shuttle and VT-49 Decimator.

It can do a stop maneuver that will cause stress, but effective for making small ships go around you. It also has a secondary firing arc that allows for 180 degrees in the front of the ship. The very unique thing that the Hound’s Tooth can do with its title card is launch a Z-95 Headhunter as an escape ship after it has been destroyed.

This allows you to field another ship on the board that has the same pilot skill as the Hound’s Tooth’s pilot. It can carry three crew members as well as a cannon and illicit weapon. It may cost 45 to 60 points to put this ship on your build, but it is well worth the cost for the amount of damage you can cause to your opponents.

I’m a little bit annoyed with this, as this ship is only compatible with the new second edition, and that is not at all clear from the packaging. Several other ships on sale in the store were labeled as “requires second edition core set”, while this one was labeled as “requires X-wing Core Set” so I assumed it was a first edition ship.

I’m a casual player who wasn’t intending to upgrade to the second edition, so now this ship (and the Y-wing I brought on the same day) are useless to me.

Was not expecting the Resistance to get Y-Wings but at least the concept of the Y-Wing is ever changing. It hasn’t just stuck with one exact model. That makes the game more interesting for me.

I have been playing X-Wing for a long time and I am loving the changes in second edition. These Y-Wings are fantastic models and just like the rest of the line, come pre-painted and are ready to put on display or down on the playmat!.

Great addition to my X-wing collection. Baraon Fel is probably one of the best TIE Interceptor pilots in the game. Upgrade cards from other expansions really enhance his skill.

They’re not high in the meta right now, but I’ve always had a soft spot for interceptors. This pack is what it says on the tin, but you’ll get even better value if you combine this with the Imperial Aces pack!.

Putting this ship on the table, I have been constantly impressed by its performance. I’ve only flown with Vonreg himself so far, and I can’t say that I have any complaints. Pairing him with Daredevel works very well, as he’s great at shrugging off stress, and his abilities make it easy to get mods despite that stress.

Though I haven’t had the chances to fly them yet, I know that Holo has some advantages too in miniswarm builds, and the generic pilot is seeing play as a proton rocket carrier. Vonreg alone has definitely been worth it, though, he’s a genuine ace, and I predict he will continue to be a staple in FO ace lists for quite some time.

First scene in “Star Wars Resistance” animation. This is my favorite First Order Ship as far as design goes. If you enjoy the faction this is a must have ship. I recommend buying 3 but, 4 is the max you can deploy with the current point system.

I just received this so I haven’t played with it yet, but the sculpt and paint are great. There is a lot of detail on the miniature. However, it’s a bit pricey for what you get

The 2nd edition silencer is much smaller than this one. Good deal and nice to be able to tell the ships apart at a glance if you are flying more than one.

The Slave I Expansion Pack is an expansion for the X-Wing Miniature Game, which happens to include great model of Boba Fett’s Slave I. The sculpt of this miniature is amazing, and the paint job is just spot on to the Slave I in the Empire Strikes Back.

Those fans of the infamous bounty hunter are going to have a treat with this one. This miniature is about 3. 25″ tall, and can only be mounted in flight mode. Also it is at scale with other miniatures in the X-Wing Miniature Game such as the X-Wing and Tie Fighters.

At least, I’m taking the Fantasy Flight Games modelers word on this. In addition to the Slave I, this expansion includes a stand and a base for the miniature, two ship tokens for the base, one maneuver dial and a rulesheet.

Of course there are plenty of other tokens as those included for the X-Wing Miniature Game. However, the cards included in the expansion take the spotlight after the miniature. The Slave I is a match to the X-Wing in attack and agility.

In addition, it can perform a Koiogran turn at speed 3 and has double the hull and shields, plus an additional back firing arc. Overall, this is very good model for Star Wars fans, and hard to pass expansion for X-Wing players.

If you’re playing with the Scum & Villainy in X-Wing, you will likely want at least two of these. “Brobots” (ie, two IG-2000s paired with Aggressor titles) are supremely capable ships in the current game.

With high agility, cannons, and the ability to equip the powerful “Autothrusters” upgrade from the StarViper expansion pack, they are fast, fun and extraordinarily difficult ships to pin down and destroy.

Even if you don’t plan on using them directly with S&V, you’ll probably still want them as the game’s only source of the powerful “Feedback Array” upgrade. This upgrade, which allows you to deal damage without requiring an attack roll, pairs very well with the Z-95 Headhunters found in the Most Wanted expansion pack and allows them to create large no-fly zone when fighting the agile Interceptors common in Imperial fleets.

at first glance, I didn’t care for the design of this model. it looks like something that doesn’t quite fit into the Star Wars universe. once I got over that. I focused on the diversity of this guy. depending on your set up, this thing can be super agile, a heavy hitter or if you have mulitple, a force to be feared! the reason for this is that two of the “IG” pilots can share attributes.

so each one can use the others special ability. That alone is worth the price of admission!.

The Aethersprite gives you access to the best republic ship chock full of amazing pilot options. Obi-Wan or the generic Jedi Knight pilots are must-haves for this affiliation. Anakin is great too. This faction wouldn’t have much of an identity without the Aethersprites.

I’m curious if that will still be the case when AMG changes the rules in 2022.

This expansion includes some of the best pilots the Republic has to offer. Anakin is a blast to fly. One star knocked off for some slightly messy paint (compared to the impecable Xwing 1. 0 paint jobs) but still, an absolute delight.

Anakin is a great addition to a squadron, and the detail on this tiny ship is wonderful. (Also, with the release of new gameplay rules, the rulebook included may be out-of-date. Also note that some of the cards [particularly the configuration for the Delta 7b] may be currently banned from standard play.
