20 Best Xbox 360 Controller (2022 Updated)

Honestly while the controllers for all versions of the Xbox’s that we have I’m so tired of buying controllers! The ones that are recharge are best, the wired ones are in the way but affordable, and the wireless with regular batteries means you’d better stock up on batteries! Though I think batteries are more affordable these days but you will go thru a lot if you have a true gamer in your house.

The controllers all work as intended but based on your gamer’s style will best let you know what type of controller to buy. If getting rechargeable controllers get the dock for it. Some new one just came out with for pods to multi charge? So look into that.

I bought an Xbox 360 when it first came out, and until I was gifted an Xbox Series X/S, I’d been using the 360 controller on my PC long after the console got put away. Microsoft, hands down, has the best controllers.

If you’re on a budget? Get the 360 controller and use it for everything you can. The only thing which you’ll notice is more comfortable on the newer Xbox controller is the textured grips, which makes a difference, but isn’t totally necessary.

Owned this controller along with the wireless one. We still use the Xbox 360 sometimes when the kids decide they want to play an older game on it. Controller still works to this day with no issues. The cord has pros and cons.

Pros being that you do not have to worry about the controller dying mid-game. Cons are that the cord can be tripped on if people or pets walk by and the cord can get tangled or caught on things. Overall, I recommend this controller.

This controller has lasted me about a year now, It works great thus far. My biggest gripe with this one is the analog sticks tend to get stuck and your character will walk on its own, or it’ll go through the menu all by itself.

That can be very annoying. This is the 2nd controller of this exact kind I bought. The first one had the analog stick issue months after purchasing and the 2nd one has lasted much longer. I assume maybe it was a bad batch or something.

The particular controllers I bought do seem to be authentic OEM Microsoft controllers. Their labels are correct and have different serial numbers. They have holograms on top and the plastic is etched correctly.

Look for these characteristics when you buy controllers, new or used. As for Xbox 360 controllers in general I find them to be the ideal value for standard gaming and since all my gaming computers have Xbox 360 wireless adapters, I continue to buy them over Xbox One controllers even now since it’s a hassle to use both 360 and XBOne controllers at once for local multi-player.

As far as plastic musical instruments go, this particular model has been somewhat clunky and unreliable for me. I have reasons that I stick with it, primarily it’s lower price in comparison with the wireless LP models, and that fact that it’s powered USB instead of AA batteries.

I recently purchased my 3rd Xplorer guitar. The previous two both had mysterious button failure (both the green button) that I cannot repair. Pros: Cheaper to replace than the Wireless model No batteries means less money spent (or less time recharging) No signal interference or missed notes that the wireless sometimes suffers Cons: Shorter lifespan than wireless models Cord keeps you tethered to your console, preventing long-distance jamming Whammy bar is often very loose and dangles around Overall, this is an average instrument for GH.

The Les Paul from GH3 (after you fix the neck) seems much more reliable, but goes for $20-30 more. They’re both just plastic guitars, but this one just seems to break more often than the wireless and RB instruments.

Average!.

I decided to buy this for the PC clone of Guitar Hero called Frets On Fire. I read on a few forums this has a USB connection and will work with windows XP and above. Had to find drivers on the website before it worked for my xp system though.

Works great. I just have to get used to spreading my fingers out to where they need to be. I’m not or never was a guitar player so it’s going to take some adjusting. Also the whammy bar doesn’t work with FOF, but that doesn’t matter anyway.

-= PROS =- Works on PC with USB Works with FOF Feels sturdy. I think it will last. -= CONS =- Whammy bar doesn’t work with FOF. It is however recognized by windows. Buttons are spread a little too far apart for my hand.

I’ll adjust. White. I would definitely recommend buying this if you like Guitar Hero or FOF.

Well, as you all know there is no official GH3 controller for PC. This controller works perfectly, windows recognizes it with no problems, its basically plug and play. Gives a whole new experience while playing GH3, no where near playing with a keyboard.

If you’re a GH3 fan, and you’re playing on PC, this guitar is the way to go. It’s compatible with both Gh3 : Legends of rock , and GH3 : Aerosmith and I hope it will be compatible with GH4 as well. Oh yea, you can play frets on fire too with it.

The outer shell was cracked on the right thigh and had a small hole. When I shake it around I can hear the plastic bit that fell off rattle inside the controller. The joysticks feel fine for the most part but the triggers are a little weird to pull on.

This controller was obviously dropped a few times in its life before it was cleaned up and refurbished. All in all the controller was clean and works which is more than I can say for my old one which was destroyed from water damage but thats going off topic.

The D-pad is stiff but I cant remember if thats how my old one was out of the box or if that is related to some damage I cant see inside. Its nothing that inhibits use. I played a few games with it for a few hours and all the buttons work and nothing seemed to be wrong so Im happy considering the minor damages.

I can’t really figure it out. At first it looks an official Microsoft product, but some small things make me wonder if it’s actually a 3rd party product. I’ve been using early XBox 360 controllers, I’ve never used more recent ones (until now) so I don’t know if the slight design differences I see between my old controllers and the new one are due to some controller revision or if they’re the typical differences 3rd party companies make to avoid legal actions from the main company.

The controller itself works fine for now. The problem 3rd party controllers usually have are the springs that keep the thumbsticks centered (triggers as well) usually wear out pretty quickly rendering the controller basically unusable.

This is why I have such a problem with not being sure wether this is an official controller or not. If it is official that concern is unfounded and the product rating should be a 5 out of 5, Xbox 360 controllers are one of the best controllers I’ve ever used (the d pad is pretty bad unfortunatelly).

If it’s a 3rd party controller only time will tell if it’s a good one (first impressions indicate it’s great).

This is one of the funnest games you will ever play. You don’t need a controller to use the kinect, just yourself and it’s very easy to use. The Kinect Adventures has 20 different adventures happening in different and exotic locations.

This game gets everyone off the couch and on their feet because you are basically in the game running, jumping, kicking, ducking, and so much more depending on which adventure you’re in. The kinect has a sensor and a camera so it knows what you’re doing.

After your adventure, you get photo moments where you can pose for the kinect to take a picture. Everyone has so much fun laughing and playing, you just can’t get enough. Although it’s a game, t’s also great exercise for everyone.

You may not think so, but trust me, you will be sore after the first time you play it but it’s so worth it and very addicting. Even though it’s refurbished, it works great. I recommend this to everyone that wants to have a fun and entertaining time with friends and family.

Having collected and played a lot of games and consoles over the years, I can confidently say a controller is the gamers most important part of equipment. If the controller is awkward and has oddly placed buttons there’s not much skill can do about that.

Having said all that I can also say with 100% certainty that the Xbox controller has been by far the best one my hands have used to game. It’s very solid, and maybe a bit bulky in appearance, but it’s shaped perfectly for one’s hands.

Every finger rests on or close too every button. Because it fits so nicely into the hand I have never experienced hand cramps of any kind. The only complaint I have is its durability. I find the toggle sticks always develop a life of their own eventually.

Some are worse than others. And it is something to be expected I suppose.

Super durable, feels well in the hands, can use this for hours and never get aches in my hands or anything! Really really great product. If only other company’s would make such quality products. Would definitely recommend to friends!.

This type of controller is great for any gamer. It is affordable and easy to use. It is an origibal comtroller that has ease of hand. You are able to get add ons to help with expert gaming, but if you are just looking for something easy, this is the controller to buy.

This controller is not as good as the original xbox controller that comes with the console. It is a cheap copy, it may genuinely be made under license for microsoft but pales in comparision. Mine started to drift within the first 8 hours of use, had to constantly clean every time I used it.

I could not press RB when RT was pressed, which was needed at times in a game I was playing, probably just a fault with mine. The accuracy of the joysticks is very poor, no finesse when aiming. The viberation/rumble was barely noticable.

I would have to plug in and out a few times before it would be recoginsed by the console. It doesnt have the same quality feel as the original when holding, and it is lighter in weight which suggests the componets are made to minimum spec.

I would not recommend.

Don’t believe a word this seller says. I’ve taken this controller apart; every piece of it is fake, including the box with it’s low res jpegs. The performance is also really bad. Looking at it’s firmware you can tell this is an ‘Inno GamePad’ disguised as a Microsoft one.

The buttons and shell are all made from a knock-off plastic with slightly incorrect dimensions. This causes the buttons to not fit snuggly in the unit. This is often found when creating a fake by taking a cast of official shells.

The button response and stick deadzones are also way off. Even the rumble motors, motherboard, wiring and pinouts are not genuine. Hilariously, the ‘official microsoft’ holographic sticker was on upside down on my unit.

That was the real cherry on top.

I just purchased my first PC not long ago and am slowly getting things together to use it and also have a little fun also. I’m a research person I want to look up everything before I buy anything or before I go someplace.

Keeps me occupied and makes me feel like I’m getting the best things for my personal needs. Now I have read reviews and YouTube surfing. This is what’s called a clone controller not made by Microsoft.

Knowing this I was willing to spend on a cost effective product. Now I take pride in finding the best products for the best price. Performance and durability are my main issues. This controller rocks.

My brother has a Microsoft XBOX and I played with the Microsoft controller and I could not tell any difference. Now doing the research a Microsoft controller may have a Milla second quicker response.

Now I’m sure anyone reading this probably has kids or may not be concerned with tournament playing. I just ordered an actual Microsoft controller and I will see if there is a difference. The person that made the video about response time used super super slow motion video which I give that man props to first have the mindset to say I’m going to find out than to have the equipment to do so.

I’m sure a kid or young person that is going to go thru another 5 controllers before out of high school will appreciate this controller. Some people have to have the name brand symbol. I’m not saying good or bad it’s just preference.

I would like to preface this review by saying that these controllers are cheap and they feel it, However versus a 360 controller there not too bad Weight: This controller is slightly lighter than a 360 controller but the general feel is there Triggers: The triggers are a bit harder to press in than they are on a 360 controlled which isn’t uncommon for a third party controller like this one.

Bumpers: The Bumpers actually feel a little bit better on this controller there not any easier are harder to press but they have a more satisfying click. Joystick : The Joysticks are by far the most noticeable difference.

the inner and outer limit for the distinction of subtle and major moments in most games seem to be right next to each other,meaning, its very difficult to make subtle motions with with the player and camera.

I eventually got used to this too but i can see this being a problem with some people. In addition its more difficult to press in the sticks, which i see as a minor issue since most games don’t rely heavily on this button.

everything else about these two controllers are identical over all I am happy with my purchase. the controller seems well built and sturdy, and i get 2 of them.

I love em. They require absolutely no installation; just plug em in, and the PC recognizes them as native Xbox 360 USB PC controllers. Now, you can game using any gaming application from the Windows Store, downloaded games, emulator-based games, anything.

Very good. The feel of them too and the buttons feel legit, like they’re originals, and the quality build is of high magnitude. I’m really overly impressed with these. Now I see also why quite a bit of people favor the controls layout of this, over say, the Playstation’s: the analog stick is the first control element from the top left, and then the D-pad, and then the other analog stick, and then the buttons.

And then there are shoulder buttons and ‘triggers’. Even the newest Nintendo Switch Pro Controller has this layout (although to be fair, from as far back as the Wii Pro Controller, Nintendo had their real foray into a good design from Microsoft’s stable right there).

Believe me, it works well, and feels natural and comfy. It works. Also, having owned several official Sony Dual Shock controllers before, I’m now a happy camper :).

The controller is fine it works well, color is what I wanted but you need to know something EXTREMELY CRUCIAL WHEN THINKING OF THIS CONTROLLER: IF YOU HAVE THE OLD XBOX ONE PLAY AND CHARGE KIT IT ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS CONTROLLER! They changed the usb port from a micro usb to a usb-c port so your old play and charge kit won’t charge at all! You can still use the battery but charging it wont happen! What you need to do is buy this: Microsoft – Controller for Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One + USB-C® Cable (Latest Model) – Black Model:1V8-00001 SKU:6436824 This is taken directly from Best Buy’s website if you buy this one you will hve no problems! Now I am stuck trying to find a new xbox series x/s play and charge kit and they are sold out everywhere! It is so stupid that microsoft doesn’t put in a female ended micro usb to male usb-c adaptor in case you don’t know this.

Also it should be on the box bigger that it uses usb-c and not micro usb chrging anymore! And also beware when trying to call best buy when you call a store you are shoved into a national call center and if youbare trying to get a specific store the person on the end of the phone will blatantly lie and say that you are talking to the store directly when you are not, And if you ask them to hold something for you and ask for their name they wil! give you their name but then when you go to the store to pick it up that person mysteriously doesn’t work there and they have never heard of them before! Take a look at the supplied photo the yellow circled bit makes it seem like they added a port not removed one and replaced it with something else, also circled is the date 2020, this controller was purchased in 2021! All around both parties need to do better both Microsoft AND Best Buy! Service from both has gone to the toilet! BE WARNED AND SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION!.

Out of the box, this controller feels responsive and sturdy. After 2 months and 50+ hours in Dragon’s Dogma (not a game that is easy on a controller) it’s still responsive and sturdy. The shoulder buttons have a nice click.

All the other buttons are responsive. The control sticks center themselves still and feel sturdy still. L3 and R3, ( the stick buttons) are easy, but not too easy, to push and also have a nice click.

I’ve had more issues with 3 of the 5 official controllers I have had. The light can be turned on, turned off, or turned to flash when the vibration kicks in. One or two of the lights seem to shoot right into my eyes as I play so I don’t use them.

The kids do though and seem to enjoy using the controller when it’s their turn to use it. From turning off the system, to moving between PC and Xbox, the controller remembers the setting you last had on.

Big plus. The button to toggle the lighting is out of the way and there’s no way to hit it accidentally during play. Speaking of which, using on PC has been great. It’s recognized as a 360 controller for all of the games I’ve tried it with while playing on Steam using Windows 10.

The two small caveats to this controller are 1) the casing is solid plastic, so hands tend to stick and sweat more than any other controller I’ve owned. 2) The control sticks centers are moved slightly inward, meaning the angle at which you press forward on the controller to move forward on-screen is a tad pigeon-toed.

In other words to move straight in-game, I have to move the control stick forward and slightly towards the other control stick. So moving both sticks forward to get straight movement on-screen is like this / \.

Hope that makes sense. Other thoughts: The cord is at least 6 feet (can’t remember at this time) and is sturdy, as well as it’s connection to the controller. The clear casing is pretty cool in that you can see the internal functions and gadgets, like the feedback motors spinning and the colored button cylinders.

The controller has the connections on the bottom for headset and keyboard and such, but I have yet to try those. The controller feels slightly smaller than an official controller, but I am 6 feet with big hands and it feels comfortable even after a few hours of continuous use.

(The model number I purchased is 3702BL and is the AfterGlow. It looks like PDP makes more than one Xbox 360 controller that lights up, like the A. X and I didn’t buy that one).

I have used this remote, going through 4 of these remotes, for a whole 7 years playing Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. In my opinion, it’s the best gamepad for fighting games because of how easy it is to input half-circle motions and dragon-punch motions with the thumbstick.

The triggers feel good as well, which help me plink dash in game. I would say I go through a ton of these remotes would be because I play UMvC3 almost every day while rigorously beating up the thumbstick.

I’m also not a friggen’ casual. Highly recommend! Also, pls my local Walmart doesn’t sell these anymore and without it I can’t play UMvC3.

This controller is straight forward with no unwanted add-ons and an instant plug-and-play makes it ready to go on the fly. My two boys are rough with toys and especially controllers. I connected two controllers to a set of usb extensions from the xbox and tethered them to a metal shelf.

Trip on a controller or pull one out – Don’t have to worry about pulling down the xbox one. You may wonder why did I go with wired then? Because they are cheaper and I don’t have to worry about my expensive FPS wireless controller getting caked with candy or broken.

The four bars light up when connected Very durable analog mechanism/thumbstick movement The grip pads on the sides are a great feature to avoid slippage while gaming. No Cons!.

I received two game controllers; however, only one worked. The working one functions fine.
