20 Best Xbox One Gamerpics (2022 Updated)

Picked up this drive for my teenager for Christmas so they could install more games (the gaming laptop they have only has a 500GB internal drive). It worked great, speed was fine, no stuttering or lagging when they played games like Apex Legends or GTA V or Valorant installed on this external drive.

Problem is that after about 30 days drive stopped working. Seems to be a critical failure. Now I get it, this happens happens, and 99% of the time if you are going to have a HD failure it will be within the first 30 days of use (as a result of manufacturing defect) or after the 5-7 year mark (when it simply just wears out).

I’m just kicking myself because I have lost the receipt and this purchase was like the ONE TIME that I declined having an electronic receipt emailed to me. So if this drive works for you it will work fine.

Works great as an external game drive. Just be sure to KEEP YOUR RECEIPT because if it fails it will fail relatively soon and still be under warranty. I’m going to end up buying another one despite the failure.

I figure now that the odds are ever in my favor.

Inside you will find the hard drive, a USB 3. 2 connector (USB A to USB Micro B), some documentation (including a Xbox game pass trial). Installation: After plugging it into a Xbox One Series X, the prompt to format the hard drive appears and asks if you want to make it the primary installation drive.

I kept it as a secondary but it was nice to get the prompt. Use: Using the drive is very straightforward, after it is set up, any use is mainly in the background if it is the primary device. If it is your secondary hard drive, you might need to manage your storage on the Xbox to move games back and forth as needed.

I recommend using older games on the external hard drives and using newer games on the internal SSD since it is faster. The external hard drive is rated for 130 MB/s which is greatly different from the internal drive at 2.

4 GB/s (uncompressed) so if you are looking to fast load times and more modern games that require faster data streaming this might pose an issue. Some Xbox One Series X games might require an SSD so be aware.

If you are looking to hold older Xbox One games or have a place to move games back and forth (archive) so you don’t need to redownload, this is a great solution. The drive has a solid metallic build and looks like it will last.

There is a white indicator light for hard drive activity that is very bright. The two tone finish which is mostly black with white accents looks very cool.

I bought this to use for my XBOX Series X. Easy to install comes with power cord and USB Cable to connect to the front of the XBOX (Their instructions) then go to settings find the External Hard Drive then click Format takes less than a minute.

Then you can move games off internal hard drive and you can also set a default to down load straight to the external HD. Note you can not play from there you have to move the game to the internal HD but hey you can download all you want.

BIG NEED TO KNOWS: – 1TB = ~846GB of ACTUAL Storage -You CANNOT remote install onto Expansion (fix this) -You cannot remote manage expansion (fix this!) So this was really exciting purchase for me. I wanted so many GamePass Games and Valhalla, but I had no space.

This allowed me to download and play the Series X|S versions without a problem. You probably already know this but, you cant actually do that with a regular ol External HardDrive, even if it’s USB3! I was SUPER skeptical about the write/read speeds, and I was right to be.

It’s not as flash fast as the advertise and claim. Downloads are obviously dependent on your internet speed, but INSTALLS. well it’s nothing out of this world. and just as fast (maybe SLIGHTLY faster) than an External USB3 Harddrive.

Whatre you paying for here? The privilege of installing next gen games. Truly. I will say the boot up/load times are much faster than any other external storage, so I suppose you’re also paying for that.

The biggest bummer with this purchase was finding out you can’t remote install/manage that storage. Nobody talks about it easier. I read at least a dozen PROFESSIONAL articles about this item before purchasing and they all had the same old data to provide, which makes me wonder if they even tested/bought the product or they all just plagiarized from one another.

Because no on touched on the small details like the ACTUAL storage or the setbacks from Xbox mobile app/Console companion (listed at start of review). If I had the ability to manage the expansion remotely, this would be a five star item.

Lastly, I dont know that this is really a good VALUE (money vs perks), and I think I’ll wait before even considering another one of these (I’m actually waiting for more 3rd party expansions, which Microsoft promised).

BUT if you’d like to take advantage of these perks, that the product offers, and you’re not too sure about dropping ~240$ on it (with tax) then I would recommend checking out QuadPay. That’s how I got this.

I paid 60$ every two weeks, using quad pay, and it made the hit to my wallet, A LOT more bearable.

In order to ensure that all users have experience is at a certain level, Microsoft has limited storage options for active game playback to either the internal drive or this approved proprietary Seagate storage unit.

Is this expensive? Yes. But with many games taking 50-100GB of storage space, the internal 1TB drive (minus system and other reserved space) can be filled up with just 5 to 10 games. This drive allows fast access to play more current generation games.

Some things that you should know. 1) You can use an regular external SSD or HD for playback of previous gen games that do not have the X|S designation. 2) You can temporarily move unused X|S games from the internal or Seagate storage to a regular external SSD or HD for storage of games that you may not plan on playing for a while.

First, functionally this works as a plug and play for the PS4. That is if the PS4 users acquiring and installing this external harddrive are not going to use a USB Adapter Wireless Headset for movies or gaming.

I normally play FPS style CoD or BF franchise games for the past ~20yrs. One key item this type of style gamer needs is a good headeset. In this case, I keep going with the PS branded headsets, such as my original PS4 Gold lasted almost 7yrs or more until one side of the bracket snapped.

I even ran it with duct tape for a couple months until it didn’t hold up any longer. I bought the newer version of the PS Headset (think the Gold edition as well to use on PS5 once I can finally get one in stock).

While testing on my first WZ game, noticed it kept cutting out – very annoying and sometimes up-to 10 seconds or more intermittently. I checked around the forums and Playstation Support, they couldn’t help much as many were indicating just need to resync the USB port adapter to the headset, but essentially nothing worked after continuous attempts at various solutions.

Working as a tech analyst, I took a different approach and started investigating. Again, this is NOT conclusive and I do not work for BB / PS. What I found though was that then PS4 is getting over saturated on the USB power demand from the external HD device that there is insufficient power support output to the other USB port.

The Seagate 4TB external drive is perfect for the PlayStation 5. Once the USB cable is plugged in, the system recognizes it immediately and all of your PS4 games can be transferred and stored in it. Awesome piece of tech! I bought this for my X box Series X to store and use older Xbox One, 360, and Xbox games as well as the twin USB hub provided. Installation was easy – plugged it in and then plugged it into the Xbox, formatted, and was ready to go.

Only downside is no rubber feet on the flat surface so it is made to stand up. I feel it would be more stable as a USB hub on the flat. Storage capacity and speed – excellent! High speed USB information transfers as well as a huge amount of storage make this a no brainer.

USB hub – so far have only used this to charge my controllers and so far so good. Looks – wish they had the black one to match better but it was a small price to pay for the performance. Definitely a great add on to any Xbox system – being external you obviously can’t play the new X/S games on it but it works great for your older collection.

Love this thing! I’ve never owned anything above a 1 terabyte external in the past, needless to say I was amazed and blown away realizing this device is 8 terabytes! First off this external HD is easy to use like most other external HD’s, simple as plugging it in via USB 3.

This Seagate external hard drive is amazing! I grabbed the 8TB and it’s a beast! The read and write speeds are as advertised at 250mbs. This external hard drive can read and while, while being used and playing games.

This is my current steam library all on this external drive. I can play games on this device even when downloading. It handles all my tasks! it’s also used for my emulators with this incredible reads and write.

I my previous device WD black external would freeze all the time, when moving on to the HDD or playing a game while downloading causing the game to crash. If you are a gamer and plan to play games & download at the same time or use this machine as emulation station, this external HDD is for you! I actually hope they come with 18tb or 20tb model cause I would buy again!.

I’ve used my D10 for something like 2 years since ordering off of Newegg early on in the pandemic, and was very satisfied with the actual performance of the drive when using it as a secondary SteamLibrary unit.

Allocating disk space during Steam game installs can either be instantaneous, semi-fast, or agonizingly slow depending on the type of storage media you’re installing your game onto, and most HDDs tend to err on the agonizining slow slide of things–even the 7,200 RPM drives (especially the external drives) unless you’ve got a proper SATA setup going on.

Suffice it to say, the D10 is nothing like other HDDs insomuch as Steam library installations go. Every install that I’ve put on this drive has been on the instantaneous/very-fast side of things, and when you’re queueing up multiple games (especially if you’ve got several terabytes worth of titles you’re interested in putting in your download queue) this seemingly simple difference in space allocation speed can literally shave as much as 30-60 minutes of waiting time off of your queueing process if you’re lining up 30-40+ titles for download.

Not to mention, faster write speeds and space allocation also means there’s less of a hardware throttle/bottleneck on your download speeds; if you have 2. 5GB fiber optic like me, this can mean the difference in as much as 50-100MB/s of download throughput per second.

I have external SSDs (first generation, mind you) that are slower than my D10–this is one impressive HDD, and for the price its seriously hard considering buying anything else for the excellent performance.

I got mine on sale during Black Friday for something like $79–that’s a hair less than $10 per terabyte of storage. This is buy far the best price:performance ratio on any single piece of storage hardware (hell, maybe even just hardware in general) that I’ve ever paid for.

The only disk better for my money that I’ve bought is my SK Hynix P41 2TB @ $139, and that’s a Gen4 M2 clocking 7,000MBs both R/W that I was able to cop at a freakishly good Cyber Monday deal. So that’s saying something.

Unfortunately, I had to take off a star because I bought a brand new computer and with my new battlestation came a transition from Windows 10 to the new Windows 11. And now I can’t get my new computer to read my D10 WD_Black drive at all, no matter which USB port I plug it into–I’m using an ASUS Crosshair VIII, so all my ports are 3.

1 and 3. 2. And it’s not a Endpoints issue common with USB problems on Win 11; I’ve uninstalled all my other USB devices and left this the only one plugged in but it still won’t be recognized by the explorer shell.

If I plug it in to my Win 10 computer, however, it shows up just fine still. Talk about frustrating!! Sadly, I had to remove a star on the rating due to this serious compatibility issue, because I’ve downloaded all the suggested software and drivers/driver updates recommended in troubleshooting guides to zero avail.

I’m keeping my fingers cross that it’ll magically appear in explorer one day and I can once again enjoy this wonderful device. The performance difference while using these other spare external drives is massively noticeable when playing games, particularly when it comes to preloading textures and streaming cutscenes during gameplay.

The D10 was smooth as butter and absolutely mellifluous, and now I’m having to deal with macro and microstuttering on the older external SSDs that I’ve been forced to replace my D10 with in the meantime, and it’s an annoyingly disappointing nuisance.

I just want my D10 back in action! :(.

FIrst I got WD 8TB Red NAS PRO internal, as I need to substitute my WD Blue 3TB Media storage. That drive temps easily got into high 40s Celsius during file transfer, too hot for my Desktop setup (I have 3 WD Gold Helium (2TB, 8TB and 10TB), a WD Green (3TB) and a WD Blue (3TB) and Samsung SSD as system drive).

All my drives very seldom got close to 50 C, and only during hot Summer days. I needed new hard drive fast as something got corrupted on my Blue HDD and at that time I did not know yet what it was, HDD bad sectors or just files got corrupted (right now it seems like I got 5 corrupted media files, but planning to scan my Blue with HDScan just in case), so urgent rescue was necessary.

WD Red PRO could stay somewhat cool only with household fan blowing directly into HDD cage, not good. So I looked around and saw a comment that External Black has HGST HDD, that was a revelation, and that happened during Black Friday, price dropped to $199, so I returned my RED PRO and got this Black one.

As of now, writing my review, my files are getting copied to External Black from Internal Blue. I tried to put Black vertically as it should be, but my temps went up to 48 C very fast (MAX temp allowed is 60C), so I decided not to get any chances, placed Black horizontally, put 2 external 80cm USB TermalTake fans full speed on one side – not as loud as household Vonado fan and temp is steady at 43 C during past 5 hours of file transfer.

Idle temp after transfer is 41-42C, so it gets only 1-2 C up during hard work with adequate cooling, that is excellent. Good choice for my needs. So I investigated a bit to figure out what is really going on with temps, as my WD Gold Enterprise Class HDDs run much cooler.

Apparently, WD is moving away from Helium filled HDDs (Gold, or anything what have HE in model name) to Air filled, cheaper to produce, but Air filled HDDs are in fact run 10-12 C warmer than Helium HDDs.

So my previous experience with WD RED NAS PRO was in fact normal, but it has to be run in very good ventilated Server, not tight Desktop. So, what is really inside of this 8TB Black box? HGST hus728t8tale6l4/UltraStar DC HC320 (AIR filled), which is Enterprise Class HDD coming to replace WD Gold Helium filled WD8003FRYZ-01xxxxx, which are discontinued a few years ago, but still possible to find nowadays.

And External enclosure comes with 3 years warranty, which I guess is limited by enclosure, as UltraStar DC HC320 comes with 5 year warranty, which is a winner compare to 3 years warranty for RED NAS PRO.

I hope it will last as my Gold HDDs (almost 3 years now, and all perfect) and longer. So get it before WD will realize that consumer don’t need Enterprise Class HDD enclosure and will substitute it with something cheaper as it done in past – I have 6-7 years old My Book External 8TB Helium HDD, one of the first ones, still working like new, not a single hiccup.

Nowadays regular WD Externals come with either Green or RED HDDs, which are far inferior to my 7200 rpm Helium. If it is not DOA or produces loud clicking noise, it will last most likely forever in regular consumer applications, so strongly recommend.

The WD_BLACK D10 8TB seems to be the best external game drive you can purchase for the PS5 right now. I’ll get right down to to the two main reasons why. First, as of the this review, Sony has an 8 TB limit on the maximum storage size its OS will support for a single drive, regardless if it is an HDD or SSD, internal or external.

Sony may increase this cap in a future update, but for now at least, an 8 TB drive is your limit. Second, the WD_BLACK D10 8TB External Drive by Western Digital spins at 7200 RPM. This is 30% faster than the majority of external storage out there on the market for your console in that most HDDs spin at 5400 RPM.

7200 RPM equates to faster read and write times. Therefore, even if you are utilizing a 10GB/s bandwidth USB port, you are still limited to how fast the drive’s header can physically write and read data onto the spinning platter.

I am getting 200 MB/s writes and 250 MB/s reads with the D10. This is about as fast as you can expect outside of using an SSD for external storage. And sure, though SSDs are preferable due to being much faster, they are still not cost effective for mass storage.

By comparison, an 8TB SSD is expensive and really just not a practical cost effective manner for external storage on a console unless money doesn’t stand in your way. So I’ve listed the notable pros.

Are there any cons? The 3. 5″ drive requires more voltage than USB can provide alone, so it comes with an external power adapter. You will need access to a power outlet. Another thing to mention is the case includes a cooling fan to vent heat as the 3.

5″ 7200 RPM drive runs hotter and needs airflow. Though pretty quiet, you can see still hear it running. That being said, it is drowned out by the sound of the PS5 cooling anyway. So this shouldn’t be an issue.

All on all, an excellent game drive at a good value for fast transfers and mass storage. PS4 games can be played off the drive and perform to their optimal bandwidth limit. Fast transfer speeds allow you to store your PS5 games conveniently to free up needed space on the console’s internal storage without having to delete.

I would rate this game a 7 out of 10. The thing I enjoy most about this game is the massive and beautiful open world. There is just an awesome sense of freedom and exploitability in this game whether you are flying down the mountains or racing across the desert.

The actual gameplay is decent. I enjoy the snow races the most, and I also feel it is the most realistic out of all the different sports. The mass races are a chaotic mess but in the most awesome way possible.

But other than the mass races I am not a fan of the competitive feel in this game, or the lack there of. There are not many multiplayer events, and this game doesn’t even keep track of stats. My biggest problem with this game is the blatant micro-transactions and the lack of earned cosmetics.

The costumes are ridiculous, and all the good ones are locked behind a paywall. It is really sickening. However, I did have a blast playing this game, and it is overall pretty good.

A blast once all event types are unlocked. Great visuals, even on PS4. Simple to start controls with room for plenty of player expression when it comes to tricks. Took a star off for the aggressive monetization (par for the course with most modern games, especially for Ubisoft) & bland single player story.

If you’re buying this for your kids, be sure to unlink those credit cards from their online accounts. Also no split screen option is a huge bummer for this kind of game. This is a single player only experience.

This game is really fun. It’s definitely a challenge as well. Only a few hours in and I’m stacking up points. Getting all types of new gear. And unlocking events. I’m used to playing extreme sports games.

I really like that you can do all types of extreme sports. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who’s a fan of snowboarding, bmx, etc.

I own a PS5 and I am terribly happy with it, yet I feel it was worth getting an Xbox Series X as well. The Series X is a more powerful machine, and also the Gamepass service makes it doubly worth getting (there are a lot of games on GamePass that are not on PS Plus and vice versa).

I like how all my saves were kept in my Microsoft account in the cloud so I could seamlessly transition from playing my Xbox One games on my Xbox 1 X to playing it on this platform. Xbox Series X does Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos sound as well, so it takes advantage of my home theater’s full potential.

Lastly, I sold my Xbox Series S to upgrade to this one. I don’t miss it at all. If you are in a dilemma about whether to get the Series S now or save up to buy a Series X, don’t make the mistake I did.

Get the Series X! The Series S won’t play your Xbox One games as it is all-digital, and that infuriated me, owning so many XBox One game already. If you already have an Xbox One, and a library of games, then you already have a library set for this console, and they will play better in all cases, and even considerably better if it says “Optimized for Series X” on the back of your disc case.

I also want to note that there are many Xbox 360 and original Xbox games that you can play on this machine (theydon’t cover all of them, but a lot). I was impressed that I could play HAWX for Xbox 360 and it not only played a little more smoothly, but also I could use my Xbox One/ Series S flight controller.

At $500. 00 it does seem pricey at first, but I look at it this way– my $1000. 00 gaming pc is not even capable of playing some graphics-intensive games like Elden Ring, and this console is. And it plays a lot of the games I play on pc noticeably better.

And on that note, if you get gamepass for pc and console and download a pc game, in some cases if there is a corresponding Series X version of it, you can alternate between the two on the same game save.

Oh, wow. The only reason I might persuade someone against buying this first, or buying instead of a PS5 is if you like the Sony Exclusive games like Spider-Man, Horizon Forbidden West, and the Uncharted series.

Then definitely get a PS5 first (or instead) unless your passion in life is to play Halo 12 when it comes out.

X Box is one of the most, if not THE most popular console out there. With this, MS rode a tidal wave of hype to their next unit, the X series. Unfortunately it seems that was all hype and huff as there are not a lot of upgrades that make this box so wonderful.

If anything one would call the changes DOWNgrades. For starters, there is no interface for virtual anything, and it appears MS is not going to add any, anytime soon. Another very disappointing item is they took the sPdif out of the box !! The old X box had digital – optical sound, which is far superior to conventional sound IMO as it does not pick up ANY processor noises or other static / hiss etc.

The X version does not have sPdif out, so now you have to go and buy a 20 dollar splitter to split it out of the HDMI stream, convert it, and then plug it back into your cable to route to your stereo like your ‘old system’ was wired.

Why would anyone decide to eliminate that? NOT COOL !! Yes you could just route the sound thru the hdmi cable but for those who have projectors and surround amps separately, this becomes a big deal. It was fairly easy to set up and play however those two items right there make it NOT worth all the hype and huge dollars you are paying for it.

especially removing the digital sound !! They cut corners, raised the price and hyped it to the moon. Im surprised they didn’t offer a free copy of Microsoft Windows ME version with it 🙁 Overall not very happy.

Is it playable yes, but very disappointing.

From someone who was originally planning on getting the ps5 I missed out and instead settled on the Xbox series x. I planned on getting this eventually but not until later in the year however this console is a great system for both new and existing Xbox fans.

First thing first the setup is quick and easy all of your games you purchased from the Xbox one era are available to download and play on your new console right after the setup. I was surprised to see all my games I bought from the Xbox one show up immediately after I set up my condo.

For those uninformed the series x can play a limited amount of games from the original Xbox from 2001 and Xbox 360 it can also play every single Xbox one game as well it also loads every game at a faster rate so you’ll be spending less time in a loading screen and more time gaming.

The quick resume feature is amazing and by far my favorite feature of the console. It lets you switch between up to 5 games at a time without going through in game menus. For example you could be playing Halo 5 and decide you want to play GTA 4 (an Xbox 360 game) you’ll switch to gta 4 and if you decide to return to halo 5 you’ll continue right from where you left off.

The console is also capable of displaying games (that allow it) at 4K resolution and 120fps if you have a tv that supports it. If not the console still works on a standard 1080p or 720p tv you just won’t get that premium image quality and smooth gameplay.

I would recommend buying this over the Xbox series s as the series x is more powerful and will run games way better than the series s but if you are on a budget the series s is ok as well but do know that it does not have a disk drive so you will only be able to play digital copies of games instead of both physical and digital.

Gamepass is also a great feature if you are just joining the Xbox brand as it gives you access to over 100+ games that you can download and play all the way through. Games are added and rotated out on a monthly bases some games stay on for years others get removed after a few months.

Think of it as a Netflix for video games. I recommend getting gamepass ultimate as it gives you access to gamepass and Xbox live gold which give you access to online multiplayer titles. Gamepass ultimate is 15$ a month but for new members you can get it for 1$ for 3 months and pay the 15$ once the 3 month period is over.

If you just joined the Xbox brand and have no games to play gamepass ultimate immediately erases that problem as you can play 100+ games spanding from Xbox 2001 to the Xbox series x/s generation. As far as downloading and installing games, I didn’t notice much of a diffrent between my systems hard drive and the external drive, but it did seem to take a tad bit longer for installations to actually start while using the game drive.

However, once a game started downloading, it worked at pretty much the same speed of my xbox’s internal drive. In terms of performance of games, I found that for the most part, it also did pretty well, with a few exceptions.

When it comes to newer games. like Forza Horizon 5, my load times seemed significantly slower than when using the systems internal drive. It took approximately 30 seconds to load up a race using the game drive, but it only took about 15 seconds to do so on my systems internal drive.

This isn’t really a dealbreaker, but it is definitely worth mentioning. On older games, like xbox 360 ones or any game made towards the beginning or middle of the last console generation I didn’t notice any describable difference between the external game drive and my consoles game drive.

In terms of aesthetics, the game drive comes equipped with a nice RGB light on the front of it, but in order to change the color of the light, you have to download a software on your PC that doesn’t always work as it should.

For example, I might change the color of the light, and then a few hours later it would randomly change back to it’s default color. This could also be considered inconvenient for those that don’t actually have access to a PC.

Performance on PC: While the packaging of the box didn’t really mention anything about using it on a PC, I figured that it was likely going to be a use case for quite a few people and gave it a shot.

Note that you can’t really use this drive on both your xbox and your PC at the same time, as the xbox requires that you format the drive if you used it on your PC. Another thing to note is that if you want to play any games off of xbox game pass, for PC you must re-format the drive to use NTFS instead, which isn’t really ideal.

In terms of performance in PC games, the drive struggles to handle newer games with high resolution textures. While the transfer speed on the drive is fast, the speed of the drive itself is not the fastest, clocking in at 5400 RPM instead of 7200 RPM, which is what most faster drives use these days.

With this being said, if you are expecting to play games like Microsoft Flight Sim, you can throw that idea away. This drive is best suited for playing esports games like CSGO or lower spec games like Firewatch.

When trying to throw anything too demanding at it, the game either runs really sluggish or simply crashes. Overall Review: Overall, this drive does what it is advertised to do pretty well in most use cases, but is not as fast as it should be for anything outside of the intended use case (Xbox One Games).

I like the RGB but I wasn’t able to get the drive configured with the Seagate software. Not sure why but it wasn’t showing up as configurable. in fact, it wasn’t showing up at all. The drive was attached to my system and usable (because I was copying data to it to test it) but Seagate wasn’t picking it up.

While I would have liked to configured the RGB, the yellow worked and matches the color ambiance of the drive case. Last thing to say on it: my drive scanning software was also showing the drive at only 93% health when it arrived.

I didn’t see any bad sectors or or surface problems so I’m not sure why the drop in health. Ultimately, that’s why I only gave it four stars. So far it’s working fine but we’ll see if it lasts. All-in-all, an aesthetically pleasing addition to my Halo collection that I would definitely recommend.

I purchased this product with the intention that it was a game. I must have overlooked the print of it being an add on it’s not a game. Meaning you can download fortnite for free and this is for you to add more product to your character.

I’m glad I had bought other games along with this. My kid still liked it. If you are looking for this product Walmart again has the best price vs all other retailers. Keep in mind it is only an add on.

got game for my son for Christmas and watched him open it up with so much excitement but there was a problem the disk itself was missing. The insert was there but no disk. With walmarts policy of if the seal has been broke there is nothing that can be done basically that leaves us having to buy it again and pray the next one has a disk inside.

I had money stolen from me, somebody used my card number hooked it up to their Xbox account and bought over $600 worth of Xbox live, Xbox games and Xbox gold premium whatever the hell that is. I called Microsoft spoke to a couple of people even spoke to a manager, they confirmed that my card number was on a profile with Xbox I explain to them that I don’t have a profile with Xbox I don’t even own an Xbox and I’ve never owned an Xbox, they informed me that they could not remove my card my debit card from my bank account from this random persons account because I didn’t have this random person‘s email address or this random person‘s phone number.

So therefore I couldn’t access their account even though they are using my money, and my card to buy stuff on their account. I think this is extremely unprofessional, encourages fraud behavior, encourages theft behavior because all this does is protect the thief, and does nothing to the person that has been stolen from.

Like many of the other people who have written reviews about this console, I have been an Xbox player for a long span of time. Lately I’ve been thinking it wasn’t such a good idea. One one hand my Xbox one s has proved itself to be a good workhorse to run the few games I play and has done the job.

Before that I was immersed in what the 360 had to offer as well. However, I can’t help but notice the constant updates occasional crashes while running older games. You would usually think that a modern console could run previous games with ease, but I digress.

The biggest issue and frustration I have had with the Xbox is that it won’t even work anymore. For two days I have searched the internet to find solutions to fix the problem with my console refusing to work on my tv through an HDMI chord.

I have gotten no results from this. I should also mention that I can’t get any customer service via phone with any real workers, and can’t even get fake service from answering machines! There is literally a “Service Unavailable” note on the option to call for customer service.

So no luck getting it fixed with the very people who sold it to me. Also tried text chat for help on Microsoft and that gave me the same answers and results. Finally ordered a servicing for the Xbox after giving up on trying to fix it and was completely shocked at the price for getting it fixed.

I’m out of a measly one year warranty and have no choice but to pay over $230 just hoping that it will actually work again. I roll my eyes at customer service and ethics such as what Microsoft and Xbox delivers to in many cases, loyal customers.

I have owned every console Microsoft has owned and I am not impressed now don’t get me wrong PlayStation is no better and if you actually think they are that different your on crack because we all know just like the car industry all these companies share the same tech and feed off each other.

I have recently sold all of my gaming accessories and used the money to invest in hobbies like you know GOING OUTSIDE! I can honestly say the gaming thing has turned hundreds of thousands of kids and adults sadly into lazy, worthless, nobody’s and now people don’t even develop social skills or even have a purpose.

Instead these kids and “adults” sit glued to a screen which your eyes will pay for later and actually think they are big and bad because they play shooter games and talk down to other losers that they wouldn’t say a word to in the real world.

We have created little snowflake warriors. I was shooting half the guns you seen in COD at 12-13 years old with my dad’s arms dealer license and learning to do all of the life skills games won’t teach you, I bet half these “adults” don’t even know how to change a tire… something I learned at 8.

I think gaming went from a hobby to an addiction and that’s why it’s so popular. Just remember when the end times come YOU won’t be prepared for anything and your loved ones will suffer because your weak.

My kids used their own saving to buy this game. After they downloaded it, they were surprised to learn that they need to buy a membership as well with monthly fee 11$. This was not mentioned anywhere.

This disonesty was shocking for them. Now I need to find out how to get the money back. A am not very optimistic about the outcome.

I had no idea an xbox live gold subscription is required to play Fortnite on xbox, at least not until I received the game. It doesn’t state this on your website. Maybe it’s common knowledge amongst gamers.

But if your not a gamer and just shopping for a gamer, it’d be nice to know before purchasing the game.

Ordering this was extremely easy and cheap compared to other prices. Unlike others my code was sent to my email in 25 minutes. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a bunch of great items for a low cost.

But before buying make sure you have xbox live gold which lets you play online.

These are old refurbs, none newer than 2018, most 2017. Which means the Thermal Paste has probably never been changed, therefore making it super LOUD. I have a PS4 Pro from this company that has a pretty loud fan, but it’s tolerable, as they are also older models.

They do a great job on the outside, making them look good though. I also have the new Series X which is quieter than am ous, inaudbile actually. I bought the 1X for another room, but i decided since it won’t be done now until spring to take it back.

As I mentioned they look great on the outside, but when you get use too silent gaming, it’s hard to listen to these old systems. The orignal Xbox One (FAT) was also super quiet, (the best actually). Too bad they are obsolete and underpowered.

With that “design” and more power Microsoft could have made a killing!! I love the One X, but it’s day has past I finally decided. I still may get a PS5, though I don’t really need, nor want one.

Believe it or not, I didn’t actually purchase this drive for the Xbox. That said, anyone that understands how the new Series X|S works, you will understand that (at the time of this review) Microsoft has not authorized any external drives to actually RUN games, but you can STORE them on these drives.

I’d recommend you get the 1TB SSD model though, not the 4TB HDD that I’m running. Seagate is one of the only vendors authorized to make the Expansion Card for the Series X|S — so if RUNNING games from additional storage is what you are after, make sure you get that drive.

Storage here is fine. 🙂 For me, I wanted to drive to connect to my M1 Mac Mini. As much as I’d love to add 4TB of NVMe, that’s entirely cost-prohibitive – roughly $650+ if I took that path. Besides, I’m using this as storage primarily.

So yes, this drive works just find on PC or Mac (or Linux). You may need to format to use it how you like. The drive is extremely quiet, and ironically I’m replacing a 10TB Backup Plus/Game Drive hub from Seagate.

Out of the box, the old drive was clickity-clackity and sounded faulty. Controls for drives like this are limited on a Mac, so it would fire up and grind and ding and I just had had enough. I was hesitant to go with another Seagate, but I already had a 2.

5″ form factor running as a Time Machine Backup in the same 4TB capacity. It’s been incredibly quiet by comparison, and this new drive is no different. Even after moving 1. 7TB of data the unit stayed cool (barely warm even).

The limits of the drive are the mechanical side, not the USB 3 side. While I’d like to push the throughput higher, Blackmagic gave it a 120MB/s write and 108MB/s read speed on every test I threw at it.

Since this is mostly my music library and OneDrive/Dropbox local storage, it’s not the end of the world. I can always move files to the internal SSD or my external SanDisk Extreme SSD if speed is necessary, such as movie editing.

The biggest downside is that the Seagate Drive Toolkit tells me there is a Driver available, but it requires me to lower the security of the M1 Mac to authorize it on macOS 12. x Monterey. I temporarily did this thinking it would install or update the driver and then I could flip it back, but that didn’t change anything.

It really only appeared to tweak the on/off status of the Green LED bar on the front and the white status LED on the back. As soon as I put my Mac back into the enhanced security mode, it flagged the driver extension and I lost those options.

I’m okay with that but it is annoying. Can’t speak to longevity, but as I mentioned I own several of the prior generations of this same 4TB drive (STDR400901 from Dec 2016 and STEA4000407 from Nov 2018).

The older one runs almost non-stop during the day for my Time Machine backup, while the other is the White Xbox Game Drive and stored and ran most of my XB1X games for years. Both drives have been rock solid, so I assume this one will be too.

The only drive that wasn’t was the bulkier 3. 5″ Backup Plus model, which sounds like an old dot-matrix printer most of the day. Should you get it? YES. as long as you are only needing it for storage.

You will not run games or bandwidth intensive transfers and be happy. Get the SSD model if you want that.

For it’s relative price and the amount of storage space received, this is great value – at todays prices (Jan 2022) it’s cheaper than simply buying an internal 16tb drive and plugging it in. It’s also surprisingly barebones despite it’s appearance – not necessarily a bad thing if you want a lot of (relatively) fast storage at a reasonable price, but a bit of a downer if you want to migrate to USB-C or Wireless.

The RGB is a nice (if unnecessary) addition, but ultimately cosmetic. The internal drive software lets you turn it off if you find it annoying. The drive has feet on multiple sides – allowing you to keep it mounted sideways or flat.

It also has plenty of ventilation, unlike many external drives I have owned. There are USB ports on the front you can use to help charge your devices. Also a welcome addition, which has helped me keep the clutter on my desk down.

The internal drive is relatively quick – running consistent sequential writes at just above 250 mb/s for me. However. The biggest drawback is really it’s limited connections. Only a single USB-Micro B port is provided, and out of the box it connects via a USB Micro B-to-A cable.

This can operate as a speed throttle – I only got maximum speed writes when plugged into my file servers sole USB-3 port. I’ve only been using the drive for a month, but thus far it seems reliable. There is an audible sound when the drive spools up, but I don’t mind – this is an external drive that prioritises write speed over silence.

Overall I would recommend it for the price, especially given the current cost of external hard drives!.

I’ll start by saying I’m about as computer savvy as it gets. I eat Windows, Mac, and Linux for breakfast. I can leap tall drive arrays in a single bound. That said, the instructions clearly say to go to a link to download the Seagate Toolkit to change the LED colors using your PC.

First I decided to see if it supports Mac and there is a Seagate toolkit for Mac to my surprise. However, after installing it, I found there was no option to enable/disable status LED or change colors like the online instructions for the toolkit say.

So I thought maybe it was a Mac only thing so I tried Seagate Toolkit for Windows. No option to enable/disable the status LED or change colors there either. So either I’m stupid or the option just isn’t there.

I’ll vote for the latter. I did connect it to my Series X and transfer 800 gig from my old external storage to this drive. Transfer speeds were pretty average, so it appears to at least work as a hard drive.

Of course, on a Series X/S you can’t install X/S games on it because it’s not Seagate’s special sauce module, but it works for storing older Xbox One games. Time will tell if I end up losing all of my games because every Seagate drive I’ve ever owned in the past has crashed and burned early.
