13 Best Xterra Lift Kit (2022 Updated)

This is a great lift. The ride quality is amazing and it looks great too! I paired it with the steering stabilizer and eliminated the side to side swaying motion I previously had on the highway. Great products.

Fit was excellent. Easy to install. Smooth ride, but steering is touchy now, but when it gets worn in it should settle itself down.

I had my local truck accessories place put the 2. 5 on my 2015 JK Willys. I couldn’t be happier with it. I have 285-70r17s with 2 inch spacers and the skyjacker dual steering stabilizers and it actually handles better than the stock setup that it came with.

Caused way too much positive camber that couldn’t be brought back in to spec without adding more aftermarket parts. I also had contact between the coil bucket and the upper control arm. 2. 5″ of lift in the front is too much for a 4wd.

Luckily they sell a 1. 5″ lift rear shackle to re-level it. I gave 3 stars because it technically does what it says it will do but it isn’t something I would recommend without also spending another $700 to get adjustable upper control arms and the 1.

I was a little disappointed in the install instructions. I myself am no mechanic and was still able to install them, so they are decent. However the tool sizes were wrong, they needed better more precise pictures or illustrations.

All in all I was satisfied with the kit and my truck does look better.

Easy to install, took me and my bro in law about 3 hours total, but that’s including time to take a break and have a couple cold ones. Gives the truck a great stance in my opinion. Get an alignment, and go ahead and spring for the camber bolts to be sure it’s properly aligned as well.

No issues with ride quality, just as smooth as factory if not better now. Have not had issues with coil bucket/ UCA contact. Great product!.

The rough country 6” lift kit was very well put together. Took me and another mechanic roughly 8-10 hours. To install on my non classic 07 GMC Sierra 1500K short bed extended cab truck. Was the perfect size kit to raise my oddly low full sized pick up truck at stock to the mean machine she is now.

The loaded n3 struts are amazing and I’m really impressed at the way the truck rides.

Just finished installation of the 6in GM suspension lift kit on my 2011 chevy silverado z71 5. 3L. In the big picture its a good kit with just a few grips, some my fault some the kit. I am no mechanic but generally handy when it come to things so I did the installation my self with the help of my father and youtube when I hit a snag.

Tips: If possible use a lift or find someone that has one, doing it on the ground is possible but sucks! Make sure you have a garage big enough to fit the truck and shut the door if you don’t trust leaving it open and your tools laying around over night.

The 8-10hr install time is for pros on a lift it took me maybe double that. The list of tools is a little short, have a full set of metric wrenches and sockets, propane/mapp gas torch helps, need a 10mm hex driver for the axel shaft nuts, and if you don’t have a impact wrench BUY ONE! Design of the kit is very nice and really does a good job of correcting the suspension geometry with the 6in lift.

Fit of components was very good except for the skid plate was suppose to be held on by 4 bolts but the passenger side hole on the front cross member end didn’t line up even close to a hole in the front cross member.

I’m going to fabricate a small bracket to link over to the nearest hole about 3 inches away to tie it together. The directions are for pros they do not walk you through every step that needs to be explained for a novice mechanic.

Luckily just a quick youtube such and you have the answer. Also the instructions are not always in the best order. ex: it says to remove brake caliper, rotor, and then axle nut, but if the axle nut is not loosened first by jamming the rotor against the caliper there is no hope of getting it off.

The hardware is good for the most part but on the rear end U-bolt the nylon locking nuts were so tight that ever the impact wrench couldn’t put them on so I burned out the nylon ring and used a lock washer with the nuts instead.

Installation was a bit of a pain given my situation and a few things went less than perfect but in the end I think it’s still a good kit and make the truck look great!.

The parts in the kit looked very good and seemed to be made very well. All parts fit just as you should. The installation instructions on the other hand are far from good. The instructions called out for hardware that wasn’t even in the get (8mm Allen head bolt) and also referred back to previous steps that had absolutely nothing to do with current step I was on.

This kit would be so much better if a decent tech writer revised the instructions.

For the record: I have never had issue with Rough Country. They always come through in the end. That being said. This kit it a huge disappointment. Overpriced and lazy. The kit was missing hardware, poor QC, and hardware that wasn’t included but should have been.

Really guys? No new u-bolts!? The instructions are ancient, reference old parts, and instruct to reuse factory hardware that is incompatible with the new parts. I love their stuff, but stay away from this kit.

The kit I ordered did not come with the spacer or mounting hardware for the front differential skid plate. The authorized dealer I paid to install the kit contacted customer service and they told him to return the whole kit.

He informed them that he had already installed the kit on my truck and the spacer was all he needed. Customer service insisted he return the whole kit in order to get a kit with a spacer. I also contacted customer service to try to get the missing spacer and was told I needed to return the whole kit in order to get a kit with the spacer included.

Rough Country apparently expects me to pay a mechanic (authorized dealer) to install, then uninstall, then install another lift kit for a spacer and hardware THEY WERE SUPPOSED SEND with the kit I paid for.

Ridiculous!.

Rear suspension is great. The front however was a nightmare. The upper diff mount on driver side I had to cut and make fit to the bracket provided. The Tahoe upper driver side is flanged when the pickup is a straight shot.

Then the upper control arm comes with no hardware for the balljoint so currently using the tie rod end nut is kinda sketchy but I’ve hit a few hard bumps and seems to be working for now. The camber is horrible and it’s fully adjusted in and still looks like ( \ / ) just would like to know how to fix it because I’m not a millionaire and can’t afford tires every 3 month would greatly appreciate some advice on how to get the camber correct.

I wish they had said something about you going to need camber bolts so I could of ordered them at the same time instead of doing double work on the alignment so upset about that. So if anyone orders this part please buy camber bolts to deal with the headache after.

First lift on my 2020 Rubicon. Took me longer since its the first one i installed ever. Over all it was good instruction and the video helped a lot. Back spring squat more than i want with my trailer on them.

My front sway bar links are angled. I dont like that. It does ride much better on the interstate. Their is a little more body roll when turning. Over all for what i paid I don’t feel ripped off. It would be different if i had paid a couple of grand.

After deciding how much I wanted to invest in this first, I ended up choosing the RE 2. 5, i plan on it being my base to build from. I ordered the kit, it came within 3 days. The paperwork now the box was a little a little confusing, as it didn’t match the year of my 2014 JKU.

I called just to confirm, customer service was extremely helpful, and assured me that it was the right kit, just that RE hasn’t updated the paperwork that comes in it. Install: I by no means am a mechanic, however I watched the videos the on the app and can say it’s an outstanding resource if you’re planning on doing this yourself.

I was able to complete this in about 9 hrs by myself. One thing that helped me was I had 2 x seven ton jack stands. It allowed me to use my two smaller ones and the 1 floor jack I have. (I recommend having at least 2 floor jacks, but can be done with one).

Also I did this entirely with basic hand tools as I don’t own impacts. I also recommend having 2 x 18 and 19 mm wrench’s. I drive a lot, so I went with 33” tires, there is a little extra space in the wells bit overall I love it.

After completing I took to have the alignment checked, the rear was fine, the front was really close, had to have the tow adjusted a little. It rides pretty smooth, Not as good as before, but I blame that on the all terrain tires and not the lift.

Extreme Terrain sent me the wrong springs with this kit (I got the 3. 5″ Sport ones). They did supply store credit after speaking with customer service so I was happy with the outcome. YouTube is your friend, and I strongly recommend watching the videos before even looking at the instructions.

Have the videos handy throughout your installation. The instructions specify a 7/8″ hole for the drag link flip kit. THAT IS TOO LARGE DO NOT DRILL!! I had to go buy a new knuckle ($75 on APW; 3 day delay).

The tapered sleeve was also out of spec (too small, 0. 845 instead of 0. 875) so I bought the Teraflex one for the new knuckle ($11 on 4WP). I blame R. E. for this not Extreme Terrain. The hole you drill for the bump stops is not 5/16″ that is too small the self tapping bolts won’t grab (ironic, right?) You use your rear linkages in the front, and the supplied ones for the rear.

With all that said, the ride is better than stock and looks great. Handles well with all the kinks worked out. I’m running 35’s with stock fenders. Will definitely need a new/better steering stabilizer.

Did this in my buddy/mechanic’s garage with a full suite of tools and hi-lift jack/stands. Took 15 hours of 70 focus.

Would be five stars but the front spacers were not direct fit . We needed to drill and tap the bolt holes in order to fit properly.

Perfect fit in a 2007 Chevy Suburban… but I was thinking that it would be metal … it’s made of hard plastic… but works !!!

pretty good quality can be pretty difficult getting the old torsion keys out but just have to be patient and keep working with it. There’s a noticeable height difference. Really good for the y money highly recommend.

I installed leveling kit to a 2006 Silverado 1500 pickup. Also installed all new shocks. Took roughly 3 hours to do all and adjust torsion bar height. Was easy to do, but I didn’t take into account how the ride would be so much bouncier.

I was looking for height in the truck, but the ride is so much harder. I would suggest a suspension lift job next time.

Don’t waste your money on this kit. It says you can go up to 3 inches on the front and it’s true if you don’t want to drive your truck. The front will bounce down the road and it’s really not safe at all.

Also to holes in the rear blocks are not wide enough for the little stud on the leaf springs so that will also have to be drilled out. wouldn’t recommend this kit to anyone looking for more than a 1inch lift in the front.

This kit does work but the quality of the ride does go down after installing this kit. I replaced the entire front end at 108K while I was installing this kit just so everything would be new and fresh.

I paired this kit with ROugh COuntry upper control arms for 2. 5-3. 5″ lifts, new moog heavy duty inner & outer tie rods, Rough Country tie rod sleeves to stiffen everything up, new moog heavy duty lower control arms which corrects the angles of the lower control arm ball joint angle(Highly recommend), & new heavy duty Kryptonite cv axles.

If you don’t upgrade anything when installing this kit you’re asking for a dangerous situation going down the road which could be a ball joint popping out of your control arm and crashing into a ditch.

Not cool. If you’re going to buy this do it the right way and upgrade EVERYTHING in the front end to make sure it’s safe and it’ll last you a lot longer than the stock components. For the rear end I just put in some Rough Country 0-4″ lift shocks which are great.

The diff drop is NEEDED for this. If you don’t add it you’ll be going through cv axles every oil change. Just do it right the first time and you’ll be happy with the setup. I’m running Moto Metal MO970 20×10’s -24 offset and Atturo Trail Blade XT tires and I only had to trim about an inch off the little plastic piece that screws on in the back of wheel liner.

Other than that these rims and tires were a perfect fit for the lift.

This was an affordable lift for and aggressive look. Took 4-5 hours to install myself but I’m no pro and took my time. Not hard to do just takes some time. Referred to a YouTube video multiple times.

Hardest part was getting the lower strut bolt to line back up. Had to remove strut, mark, secure on vice, push/work to correct position and mock it up multiple times to get right. Other than that the critique I have is that the directions don’t detail exactly how the spacers secure on the front struts – a very crucial part which is lacking in the directions.

I figured it out after two trys but that would have saved time.

I chose Supreme’s 2. 5″/2″ kit in order to maintain a slight rake when unloaded. I’ve had dead-level trucks before and can’t stand the saggy rear end when hauling/towing. This kit is well engineered and installation was a breeze.

Quality hardware with no fitment issues. The stance is just what I wanted. Fits 33×12. 50×20 with a +1 offset with zero rubbing, even at full lock. Rear end sits 1. 5″ taller than the front, which looks great loaded and unloaded.

I highly recommend this kit if you are looking for a simple leveling solution and not an all-out lift kit.

This kit exceeded my expectations 10 fold. I replaced my original worn out stock suspension on a recent axle upgrade. My lift was closer to 6″ after install but suspect some settling. Bare this in mind if you are replacing old and worn out components it will be more then 4″ of total lift.

The ride is night and day compared to my old worn stock stuff. Also the shock mounts on squarebodies will require some indexing to fit. Nothing big but should be mentioned. If looking for a lift on a budget look no further.

Lastly I have to say customer service is like no other. I had an issue with my u bolts being too long based on the springs. They instantly sent me out replacement u bolts no questions asked same day.

I actually talked to a real person and they were most defiantly located in the USA not some third world country. Rough Country keep doing what your are doing. There are few companies that can still deliver a good product these days and back it with good customer service.

I purchased a 2″ lift kit for my 77 K5 blazer to replace some saggy leaf springs and put a little lift in my truck. The shipment was delayed by FedEx by about a week and when I received the springs they were shipped bare metal, just a label directly applied to the spring.

the paint was significantly scratched, and the retaining C clip was actually bent on 2 of them. There was no packing list included so I could not really verify if I was shipped the right goods of if I actually received everything in the order.

during installation of the first spring I was unable to torque the U-bolt fastening nuts as the length of the ubolts is way too long to fit a long socket over the protruding end and still engage the nut.

Also the shock absorbers sent with the kit will bottom out about 3-4 inches before the spring will hit the rubber pad on the frame. it seems to me the u-bolts shipped are to go with the version that uses a block below the spring (and above the axle) to give the lift.

no blocks were included in my kit and the kit I purchased is supposed to have the lift in the arch of the leaf spring. the rear springs are suffering the same issue with the U-bolts being too long to be able to torque.

So either I ind a way to cut the ubolts down while on the truck, or I received the wrong items or am missing items for this kit. but this is certainly not just a slap on project, expect to have to do some customization of the parts in order to complete your build.

the only reason this is 2 stars and not just one is because you can make it work, with a lot of effort and the proper tools, although I will probably ditch these shocks and get something that actually fits.

Everything, with the exception of one alignment pin, went on smoothly. My only real issue is that they don’t include any instructions or even a parts list. There are three brackets in the front hardware kit that I didn’t use, but maybe I should have? Also, which shocks go to the front? I had to do some internet searching to figure that one out.

How hard would it be to include a parts list and an exploded diagram?.

Looks great and fairly easy to install. Seems to be good quality also. However the spring perches on the axle mate with the springs in such a way that the caster angle is increased. Result is too much sensitivity to steering wheel input, what is often referred to as squirrelly steering.

On a straight axle this cant be simply adjusted out. I thought of trying to shim the spring perch, but I’m going back to the stock springs. If you are wanting primarily to off-road, then this won’t matter as much.

Friend of mine put the lift in and did a very nice job love the way it rides comfortable

Everything was sturdy and well made. It had vague instructions,so I had to watch a couple of YouTube videos for some help on the install. I thought it would get rid of the rubbing problem(275/60/20, -19 offset) but it still rubs (nothing a little heat gun won’t fix lol).

All in all the kit did what it was supposed to do lift and level my truck with well made parts.

Went with a modest lift /leveling kit, 2″ front, 1″ rear, didn’t want to feel like I was climbing up to get in my truck. Gives it just a little attitude and the ride didn’t suffer one bit. More than happy with the mod.

I love the lift kit. However, the instructions involve steps that are not needed. There is a much easier way to install the kit. I had a Toyota certified Master Mechanic, who is a friend, help me and he showed me the unnecessary steps.
