20 Best Yard Bug Treatment (2022 Updated)

Applied product as described – actually maybe a little more than what was recommended. After four weeks this insect killer did nothing. We still have just as many bugs crawling around the yard, driveway and porch.

I was told full strength Bifenthrin is not sold to the general public and this product is proof of that. Cannot recommend.

The pest control company that does my house and lawn uses this. I’ve used this for about a year and it works great. Put some on ant hills. I was told by my the pest company that you don’t have to water it in.

Save’s a lot of work. Very good at killing ants and saved a lot of time and work by not having to put water on it for it to work. The bag says to water it in but I don’t and it still works good.

use this routinely, every few months or so (florida) to keep the pests under control… works good, been using bifen granules for years

I was very anxious to t rry this product as I have had quite a problem with ants in my house and also lady bugs in the garage. For the ants I usually use those little tins that you put by the baseboards and area that you see them.

They crawl in, take the poison back to the others and it takes care of the whole lot of them. I tried these for almost a month straight. Usually they work great, not this time. I immediately put the Ortho Home Defense Insect Killer for lawns granules in my spreader and put them on my lawn.

Much to my delight the ants were gone within a few days and haven’t returned. Also the lady bugs have disappeared too. I put this product in the lawn back by the garage and it did the trick for ridding me of the lady bugs.

I am very happy with the results of this product and would definitely recommend it. It was easy to apply and the directions to apply it were very clear.

If you treat your entire lawn EVERY year your pets will stay bug free Without having to treat them individually for fleas and ticks and probably heart worms too. The Savings one gets can be enormous depending on how many animals they have that either always live outside or are in and out little chittlins.

I can’t recommend this product Any higher than abled. I would give it 10 stars.

During this time of the year I have those big brown jumping spiders. The only time I could get rid of them was if they got in the house and I would see them. I am very frightened of them. I used the Ortho Home Defense Insect Killer for Lawns granules and I haven’t seen another one yet.

It also woks with the ants as I have had problems with ants for the longest until I used the Ortho Home Defense Liquid Ant Bait. I am loving the outcome of the products being tested. I highly recommend this product to anyone who’s having issues with insects getting into their home.

It states that the product has a barrier for up to a year. I’ll keep an eye out for that. One more thing, I used the Ortho Hand Held Spreader to spread the granules. PERFECT.

The word ‘Granules’ is a misnomer. Even though they were fresh bags (2), the product is mostly dust, which floats away in the breeze. The Sevin with about 30-40% granules is not easy to spread. Even the granules are not well formed.

Given the composition, much of the product blows away and you need to stay upwind if you don’t want to be covered in the dust by the time you are done. As a result, one ends up using more product than in the instructions.

Will post a follow-up review once I see how it works on the lawn insects. Other products such Bayer insect killer (Imidacloprid) or for that matter, lawn fertilizer, are in fact granules as indicated on the bags.

This is the best brand I have found for the fleas and ticks on my land. I actually set my spreader 1/2 click more than what the packaging says. I have 4 large breed outside dogs too. Hasn’t bothered them.

Second summer I’ve used it and couldn’t be happier. Haven’t seen any black scorpions in the last two years either. Worth the money.

I tried this for the first time. We had fleas in our yard and some mosquitoes. It takes once applied, about 7 to 8 days to conquer the problem but it does conquer the problem! We are so happy we purchased it and will continue in the years ahead to purchase it.

Amazing! It arrived about 4 days after purchase transaction. Very quick! Do not hesitate to purchase this but wait till about a week to 8 days and you will be amazed!.

Very easy to use – just hook up to your house, turn the water on and you’re good to spray to kill insect. With the spray it’s easy to spray low lying branches and shrubs, where ticks like to hide. And it’s easy to spray the lawn for fleas.

This product is the best to kill aphids and more than any product.

After a week of rain in texas. fire ant mounds of torture appeared all over my yard. I’ve been using the Bayer sprays for years and they aren’t working at all. We also have an issue with fleas in our yard so I was needing a product that works on our yard which is just under an acre.

I spread this out and I kid you not I watched the ants start twitching and dying I’m 5 minutes. I knew I must have hit the queen when the big guys with wings started coming up. I took way too much pleasure in seeing hundreds of dead fire ants on the ground.

My yard is water slide ready for the weekend and hopefully my pups get some relief as well. I’ve found my new favorite product for sure.

The name implies one bag MAY cover an acre or more. Half that coverage is max. Product effectiveness is probably good, but expect no more coverage than 20 k to 22 k square feet.

The cans frequently don’t spray the way they should – some cans work fine and others do not. No matter how long you shake them or what angle you hold them, it’s difficult to get a fine, fog like spray.

At least half the cans I bought have a coarse, heavy spray that splatters on surfaces and does not disburse in the air like it should. When you do get a can that works correctly, it is effective at killing mosquitos in the area for a few hours.

Why some cans work perfectly and others never work right remains an unsolved mystery.

Cutter Backyard Bug control outdoor fog. Hi specially like to use this when I am having a hang out in my patio and there are mosquitoes and flies that don’t let you be. It’s a fogger in a spray form very easy to use.

Spray the fogger leave it for a couple of minutes and then you can enjoy a beautiful day in your backyard free from flying mosquitoes or bugs. I really liked that it was not a very expensive product.

I try to always have it around my house for immediate use when needed. I recommend cutter a backyard bug Control fogger.

I bought this backyard bug control a few weeks ago. This spray has been life changing for us!! We have issues with mosquitos, fleas and some small looking nats. My neighbors always have some sort of standing water so it makes everything worse.

We are always looking for ways to keep the bugs out of our yard. This product has worked great for us. It also not overly smelly! That is such a big deal breaker for us. I have two little kiddos who love to be outside, so anything to make sure they aren’t getting bite is a plus to me.

The kiddos haven’t had any bites since we started using this. We will definitely keep buying it!!.

Finally after 3 years of fighting flies and mosquitos I’m free! This really works. Didn’t think it would but after my kid sent me a video on someone using it I figured what the heck why not, so glad I did.

Flies were the biggest issue. Every door that opened 3-5 flies would fly in. There’d be no fly insight, but as soon as a door opened there they were flying in whether I was going or coming lol. Bought this bug yard control and followed the instructions.

Not sure if the instructions said to spray the fence, but I know the video I watched did. So, I sprayed my entire yard and fence and haven’t had flies or any other pesky bugs since. Minus the first couple of days after applying it.

Very simple and easy. Just connected to water hose and started spraying. We have wetlands in back of our lot and the mosquitoes around the house were unbelievable! Sprayed our back patio and front porch areas and mosquitoes were gone! This product is amazing and extremely easy to use.

The effective chemical is in a class of chemicals found in the chrysanthemum flower, so I felt it was relatively safe. – we have a pet dog and I did not want to use any harsh chemicals that would hurt her.

I just wish I had used this product earlier. Definitely will use again when this treatment wears off.

I was very skeptical about this product. I bought it last summer because every time you step outside, at my house in NC, the mosquitoes eat ya alive!! I ended up not using it & moved to a new place & couldn’t take it any longer.

I was using 2 citronella torches & a bug zapper at my front porch & 2 torches & a bug zapper at my back porch plus spraying myself down w/ “Off”! (Also had to keep bug spray on my toddler grandbaby which I HATED).

I put in a request for the county to come spray my yard, they sprayed the edge of my yard & it didn’t help AT ALL. I remembered that I had the 2 bottles of Cutter Backyard so I decided to use it yesterday.

As I type this I’m sitting outside w/out any bug spray on me & no torches burning!!! I’m so IMPRESSED!! The only thing that’s flying around are bees. The yellow biting flies are gone, mosquitoes are gone, & from what I can tell the fire ants are gone too!! I have a screen tent set up & there were some kind of fly/bee looking insect that had taken over & every single one of them have disappeared! I had swarms of flies in my yard & they’re gone as well! Definitely worth buying!! & I’ll buy it again when the time comes.

The reason I am only giving 4 stars is because at times it seems as if the solution isn’t coming out of the bottle with the water hose attached. I would like to know what the ratio is so I could mix it & spray w/ a sprayer for when it’s not coming out of the bottle.

Totally disappointed!! What a waste of money & time. Used at the beginning of the season and that lasted for literally maybe 3 hours. still had product left so I figured I would try some again a few days ago.

This time it didn’t do a do a thing. there was no difference in mosquitoes or flies for that matter. I got so frustrated that I took the remainder of what I had & sprayed where I sit outside. sprayed a massive amount.

Went inside to make a cup of coffee figuring I could enjoy my coffee outside and I still had mosquitoes Galore. SAVE YOUR MONEY!.

I’m leaving this review a little after 12hrs of using this product. I moved to our home 3yrs ago and could never enjoy sitting outside in the yard without ever known and unknown kind of bugs flying around biting us.

It was totally out of control. This spring I want to enjoy the outdoors of our home without being bit and spraying Off spray all over our bodies. So after getting the lawn cut this weekend my uncle recommended this product.

I rushed to the store to purchase and used it yesterday evening. I went out to the porch this morning and not one bug was flying around. As of now I am highly pleased with this product and can’t wait to enjoy our yard later today.

After moving to the southeast a few years ago, I quickly learned that unlike my time in the mid-west, the bugs are plentiful. I dont mind the non-destructive ones, but here there are tons of termites, carpenter ants and bees, chiggers, among other things here.

Living next to a nature preserve, I learned quickly after moving in and digging around my yard in order to make a flower garden, that chiggers were alive and well there. So, my go to for keeping bugs at bay is the Ortho bug b gone liquid spray and the granules from Spectricide.

This works great at keeping those annoying bugs out of the yard. I regularly, every 3 months or so, spread this across the yard. As long as I give the yard an update every 3 to 6 months, I have had no issues with chiggers or any other type of annoying pest crawling in the yard.

This helps with carpenter ants, termites and Japanese beetles too. This has worked well for me every year that I use this as I have had no pests in the yard since moving to the area. This 20 lb bag covers approximately 25,000 square feet at a reasonable cost of 12 bucks a bag.

It does have a bit of an odor in the bag, so keep that in mind when storing. 5 stars.

We have used this product for several years. Our problem include ants by the zillions. They appear to be wicked little critters. anywhere ,everywhere and whenever!!! We also have pets. The Triazicide is safe to use in the beds,on the lawn basically, everywhere.

I do not use it in the home. To stop ants from invading the home, I place a narrow “LINE” of it along the foundation especially where pipes or wires occur. Generally , I apply Triazicide every 60-90 days.

I think TRIAZICIDE is a good buy because it is : 1. economical , 2. effective if applied as directed and 3. safe for both my pets , wildlife and my family.

Just what k was looking for! I usually buy the powdered for of this but the prices were crazy and I hate when the wind blows and it kicks back anyway. This is just as effective if not more and I couldn’t be happier as this is more pellet form so it’s easy to distribute.

Would have been handy for the bag to be resealable but for the price I can’t complain too much. We have ants and insets that try to invade our house every year as we live right next to the woods so this is perfect for saying stay out, your not wanted here.

My house is surrounded on three sides by trees/woods and the other side is the lake. We get invaded by a ton of different insects from spiders to ants to mayflies to stinkbugs. Sevin Insect Killer is the perfect product for my area since it protects up to three months and that is when we have the bug issues.

The product is easy to use and it works. I need the spiders to STAY AWAY from me, my lawn and my house. I love that it kills over 100 insects so I only need one product. I just used a spreader to evenly broadcast it throughout my yard and watered right after and kept kids and pets off the lawn for a bit.

So far it seems to be working great; I haven’t see the GIANT spiders we normally get every year yet. The webs just destroy the house so it’ll be quite noticeable. I wore gloves and a mouth mask to avoid any of the product on me.

I would use this again and I would recommend the product!.

We have used Sevin granules every year for the last five years with great success. Our primary focus being ticks and fleas in the yard. Bought some this year and applied just as we have in years past.

Different results. Waited a couple of weeks. No effect whatsoever on ticks or fleas this year. Went online and found others complaining as well. They have “upgraded” the active ingredient from carbaryl to something that does not work at all.

I will no longer be purchasing this product. Contacted customer service and was told they would not refund me since I did not save the UPC labels from the four bags we purchased and used on our yard.

Not very helpful there. Fortunately for us, Walmart did give us a refund since we still had the purchase receipt. So a warning to you all reading this. The positive reviews are for the old Sevin granules as I highly doubt this new product will get any honest positive reviews.

6/19/2017 We are so happy to finally find a flea and tick product that does not jeopardize the health of our beloved 12 cats and one dog. Thank you Wondercide for all your research and hard work to develop a safe alternative to those “spot treatments” we have always hated and been afraid to use even though we had to in the past with such flea infestation here in the South.

We received our Wondercide within two days of ordering – remarkable! We ordered the lemongrass, it does have quite a strong odor, but can live with it for a few days to feel we are not poisoning our babies.

The insects start to hatch early in N. Fla, as soon as the temps hits 70s. RoundUp is a proven brand for weeds and as a vegetation killer, so I felt confident in trying this for killing the pests that are worse on St.

Augustine Lawns. Specifically I needed something that will control above ground (like fleas and ticks and ants) and below ground (sod webworms, grubs, and even chinch bug). The RoundUp Bug Destroyer seems to work very well on these and much more.

It is safe and easy to spread, and works below ground with watering. So far I’ve not seen any evidence of these pests killing the spring lawn growth. With regular treatment I expect not to have any lawn damage this year, unlike last year!.

I am late reviewing this product because I was doing a comparison with and without long term effectiveness. Easy to use with simple directions. It did work for several months. The bugs moved over to the area I did not treat.

Pretty much expected this. With time and a lot of rain, the effects wear off and the bugs come back. In its defense ALL product effects will wear out with a lot of rain and time. This one held up longer than most.

But not quite so many bugs returned. So feel confident you will get the effect you want with this simple to used product from Scott.

I tried this product on unwanted grass growing up on concrete driveway. Killed within a few days. Grass has not returned. Keep away from areas you do not wish to eliminate. Use on a non windy day. Will recommend.

I was recently gifted a bag of Ortho Bug B Gone Lawn Insect Killer complimentary in exchange for my honest review, and the millions of tiny lawn spiders are gone! Used to be, if you shone a light across my uard at dusk, youd see thousands of tiny lille points of refelection -grass spider eyes.

Shudder. Since putting this product down, I now no longer am afraid for the kids to lay down in the grass and play. Or to sit down in the grass myself. It was very easy to use, with very little odor.

I am extremely happy with this product.

Being a new homeowner means that I am trying a bunch of different products, trying to figure out what is best. This season I decided that using something that would kill above and below the surface had to be key.

This was super easy to use on my lawn and my flower beds. I sprinkled the product directly onto my lawn on a cooler evening. Knowing that centipedes, gnats, mites and weevils will not be an issue for the next 6 months is really nice.

The bag itself treats almost 17,000 ft², which means we can use this bag at the start of next season, as well. This is the most effective lawn insect killer I have found.

This product is very easy to use in a spreader. The bag is a decent size of 10 pounds! It says it kills ants, fleas, grubs, ticks, and spiders. My dog has had fleas a couple times this summer even with flea and tick prevention taken monthly.

Since applying the bug b-gon 2. 5 weeks ago I have not seen any on him. It says it lasts for 6 months which I love so you don’t have to keep reapplying. The only downside is that it isn’t safe for pets to swallow so please be very cautious of what your animals are doing on the lawn once applied.

It has a small odor that you can only smell while applying also.

This has made my backyard useable. I live in FL and just moved into a new development and the city hasn’t fogged the area yet. I also have O+ blood which means I attract a ton of mosquitos. The mosquitos and wasps are always on my back patio.

I never could sit out for long without being eaten alive. I sprayed this once on the door and patio. Right away the bugs died and disappeared. 1 week later same results even after rain. It’s easy to use and sprays evenly.

Make sure there’s no wind before you use and you’ll get great results. I spray the product every 2 weeks or when I see the mosquitos coming back on the door.

I really wanted to try this for our outdoor patio to see if it would help with the many many bugs we have out there. We do not use it as often as we’d like due to the many spiders mosquitoes and beetles that seem to be crawling around everywhere! We tried a lot of yard sprays that seemed to help for a short amount of time but I had never seen a fogger directed towards this need.

How to use it super simple take it out of the box press the button walked away came back in an hour through the can in the trash. I have noticed a significant difference in the amount of recent bugs that are on our porch.

In fact we were just out there earlier roasting s’mores!.

I wondered if it was the product that kept the bugs away or if it was the new state we were living in? The following year I didn’t use any insecticides on the lawn.

By the time the end of the summer approached we had SO MANY bugs! Mosquitoes, two types of little flies covering the lawn, yellowjackets, spiders … we couldn’t stand being outside. The third year I had a baby in early Spring so we were inside most of the hot Spring & Summer.

But when we did go outside, we were quickly chased back in the house by flying bugs. The yellowjackets mostly! This year I will be applying this stuff consistently. Never again will I skip an application.

I want to ENJOY my yard! The funny part is that I commented about how we didn’t have any bugs the first summer we were here and that the last two summers we had soooo many yellowjackets. Everybody kept saying “We always have a ton of yellowjackets!” I didn’t see a single one the summer I applied this spray, so I was surprised to hear the neighbors around me were suffering with Yellowjacket problems while we were barbecuing and enjoying our yard that summer.

IšverstiShow in original languageFor an old lady I had few problems. The first time I turned the water on it sprayed back at me. I unthreaded then rethreaded and it stopped. The water, apparently, comes out in a jet stream when no product is coming out, then turns into a nice wide spray when the product is coming out with it.

It was a bit difficult to see the level of product remaining, but I could guess by how heavy or light the bottle was feeling. Hopefully it will take care of the fleas. I used another product, but it didn’t kill a lot of them.

It made the environment more hostile than the Pet Armor Plus that was on my dogs…. all the fleas, apparently, jumped onto the dogs preferring the Pet Armor. It was A LOT! What a war! Hoping this kills them instead of just a shot across the bow.

The dogs got a different topical, as they obviously learned to live with their current topical. PLEASE work! I’m exhausted fighting this fight, checking all the time and all the cleaning and treating bedding—and I don’t even have carpeting! But I refuse to let my babies suffer.

IšverstiShow in original languageSo I purchased 2 bottles from Homedepot the other day. First bottle sprayed 3/4 of my yard 3000 square feet when I noticed the product level never drop at all. Then the hose blew off the connection.

So I tried bottle #2 this time the bottle stayed on but again know product left the bottle. Yes it was in the on position on both bottles. I’ve never had this problem with the one from Cutter backyard mosquito which has been my go to.

I guess it’s back to ol reliable.

Ortho Bug B Gone is a very effective Grub control product. I drop spread the product twice a year, in the Spring ( April ) to catch them early and Fall ( mid – August ) to get latent Fall bugs under control.

It’s easy to handle and I clean up my spreader with a burst of water. I am highly satisfied and recommend Ortho Bug B Gone for your lawn!.

I bought the 20lb bag of granules to put on my yard. I have 3 small dogs and I try to keep the fleas eliminated or under control as much as possible along with all the other insects in Louisiana. Especially mosquitoes.

My back yard is approximately 1700 sq feet and my front yard is about 1500sq ft. After I mowed my yard I decided to make sure my yard is treated very good so I wouldn’t have to worry about my dogs with fleas and disease carrying mosquitoes and other Flying swarms of gnats and all the other annoying insects.

I decided to use more then it recommended I spread 8 pds in my back yard another 8 in my front yard and the finial 4 pds along a drainage ditch evenly with a spreader After I finished spreading it I immediately turned on the sprinklers making sure I watered it down good but not to much like recommended.

Here it is 5 days later the swarms of gnats are even worse , I have earwigs still crawling around the flower beds beside my house, yard moths are always flying around and getting in my home, the mosquitoes are still bad and I did clean up all standing water and I keep my yard very clean and free of all trash and debris and the draining ditch was bone dry I can put on white socks walk barefooted in the yard and they will be covered in fleas and other pest so even though I put on about triple the recommend amount it did nothing IDK if I bought a bad batch or bag of saw dust they would have had the same out come.

I do not recommend this product. To me it was a waste of money a waste of a beautiful morning. Ortho normally has good products but this is just not one of them in my opinion.

This product is beyond a doubt the only tick repellent we’ve successfully applied on our yard. We lived on 3/4 of an acre for 10 years. The first year we moved into our place in south central Wisconsin, we brought ticks in the house the entire summer.

They weren’t limited to the field in the back but were in the manicured yard right up to the house as well. The next spring we tried this Ortho product and applied it exactly 3 months later for an entire season of protection.

It worked beautifully. We used it religiously for the remaining 9 years we lived at that location and not one issue. We actually were able to get away with applying it in mid-May and it worked extremely well the entire warm season.

Now we are in Tennessee and we are going to give it a go here as well as ticks are prolific. I’m hoping the same success we enjoyed in Wisconsin will carry over to our place here. One strong word of advice: make sure you do your best to apply it either before a forecasted light rain or like we used to do, if it’s a perfect rain, we got outside during the rain with our spreader and put the rain cover on it.

That way you were guaranteed it would be watered in!.

Cut your grass, hope for no rain for the next week, spray liberally. I got the balls to test it out on yellow jackets and it worked very well! (On stream setting of course) Made them just hang on until they couldn’t anymore.

It even made the larvae sacs rupture. The yellow jackets were visibly affected and didn’t even try to fly. They were frantically trying to clean off the nest and themselves until I blasted them off eventually.

It repels insects immediately. If you spray the critters for longer than 15 seconds, they won’t survive. Spray until you see the foam of the pesticides, it didn’t harm my grass at all. Just finished 2 bottles for front and backyard which is overkill but now I know I’m set for 1 at least.

Use it early in Springtime and best with a wet surface and then no rain for a few days. It takes 48 hours to realize some effect. Each apply is about 50% reduction so use it 2-3 times over a month. Main idea is it kills larvae babies so the full effect is seen at about 30 days.

Applications 2-3 cycle applications about every 4-5 weeks and it’ll cut population by 80-90% imo. It does work good if applied correctly but not meant to be an easy 1 hour fix. Reapplication in at least 2 separate doses 48 hours apart works best.

Give it 2 weeks to see difference. Use a fogger if you need immediate results they are great for just repelling short term. Parties etc. both need to be combined situational the spray is medium long term it kills the populating do use it more early in May-Jun frame.

I’ve been using this for a few years. Claims to last up to 8 weeks but I’d say a week max in my yard if the weather cooperates. I live in DC and my yard is virtually unusable from May-October with the mosquito situation.

Living in close quarters to others I do not have control over every little bit of standing water so I spray this a day or 2 before I know we’ll be outside. I wish I’d lasted longer, I apply per the instructions, but it’s better than nothing.
