20 Best Yard Work Boots (2022 Updated)

This is essentially my first pair of boots and I have to say that I was amazed at how it all fit together. Everything fit very well and it feels comfortable to walk around in and stand in for long periods of time, which is great I presume.

The toe is also roomy and comfortable and the steel toe offers great protection. The only caveat is related to the top portion of the boots. Now this may be my inexperience or maybe its due to not wearing the correct type of socks but wearing them for a long time makes them feel like theyre digging into my lower calves.

It’s strange because they are paradoxically comfortable to wear while simultaneously feeling that persistent sensation after long periods of use. Hopefully there are changes I can make to make them more comfortable.

Even with this exception I still highly recommend these boots! Even for a first timer like me!.

Not for wide feet or comfort. I wore these boots for 8 hours, my job requires alot of walking and climbing. It was painful to walk after 2 hours. after 5 hours every step was painful, almost impossible to walk, dreading every step.

The next day I had about 6 blisters from these shoes. I ordered size 11. 5 wide, the steel toe area wasn’t wide and kept rubbing my big toe. The shoe feels flat like walking barefoot on concrete. I went to Skechers and found some steel toe hiking boots that cushion every step and FIT.

If you have tight shoes, use bandage tape and lightly wrap the areas where you get blisters or double sock.

This is my 8th pair of these steel toe boots for work. First time in black. For me they can be a little stiff for the first week or so. A little rough around my ankles but once they form and stretch they’re great.

I may be in mine for 16 hrs some days. I do swap out the stock inserts for new DS work inserts with every new pair. Then once the boots have formed, I’ll also add the shorter heal and arch support inserts under the DS inserts.

Which for me makes them just right! For work I can normally get about a year+ out of each pair as I am pretty rough on these. My old boots I’ll use for working around the homestead. So a pair actually lasts me longer.

My background is a Automation Engineer and I work on the factory floor programming factory automation equipment and do a lot of electrical troubleshooting. I purchased these boots off of a shoe truck that visits my employer.

I have tried Rocky Boots in the past and hated them, but the IronClad looked like one of the competitors boots that I have had in the past and thought I would try them. As with another reviewer they are heavy.

However, my body has adjusted to the feel and they do not feel so heavy during the work day. But when I go home and put on my other boots I wear outside of work, you do feel a difference. That being said, I do not feel fatigued wearing them all day.

As far as break in, these were stiff for about 5 days at 10 to 12 hours a work day. They have worn in nicely and are comfortable. As far as comfort, I really can’t complain that much. The other Rock Boots I had felt extremely “hard” when walking in them.

I do not have that problem with these. One other reviewer stated they were noisy. Ok, I understand what he is talking about. On the left boot I hear a “squeak” that is similar to that of a wet shoe walking on a smooth surface.

But I also have a noticeable “click” coming from the same boot. It is not obnoxiously loud, but I do hear it and so do others when I come off the factory floor into the office. They are an above average work boot.

My confidence in Rocky has improved. I am on the fence if I would buy these again. The price point of $152 and the look of the competitor’s boot is what got me. My company puts a $100 annually to the purchase of a pair of work boots.

So at that price point of $52 in my situation they are amazing. However, with what I have experienced with these boots, I definitely will look at Rocky Boots when I go shopping for my casual boots. I used to skip the “Rocky Section” of the store.

I received these boots after almost two weeks from order date. I was excited they finally came. After opening them I immediately noticed the left shoe was defective. Where the front of the shoe meets the sole, it was all bunched up.

The leather was not smooth. Never in my life have I seen this sloppy workmanship. The toe area was wrinkled. Then I tried the boots on. The right foot was OK, but the left had a major lump where the tongue folds to keep water out.

It was like a hard mass that dug into my ankle bone. I couldn’t stand to walk several feet. This lump was not present in the right shoe. Both shoes had a very large heel area and my heel moved around worse than cowboy boots.

I was totally disappointed in these boots. And they are supposed to be made in USA. I have sent them back. They are expensive and poorly crafted. Maybe I just got a bummed pair. First time Rocky has let me down.

I bought these in November so Its only been less than 4 months now. The boots are comfortable which is one thing that every rocky boot I ever owned has in common. However, the lining inside both boots is already starting to rip and both boots are very noisy.

They make a creeking noise with every step I take. Not a normal wet boot noise either. It happens when the boot bends in a step. Not the highest quality boots I’ve owned so for the price is annoying.

My last boots were irish setters and I owned those for about 5 years and no complaints. The lining in those boots haven’t even started ripping yet.

These Wolverines are a strong boot and seem to be made very well, and are very sturdy. However I do have some comfort issues when wearing them on a daily basis. I’ve used them for about two weeks, and they certainly feel “more-comfortable” as they continue to break-in.

however, they are not comfortable out-of-the-box, whatsoever. Not on my feet anyways. The main issue for me is that the boots are very loose-fitting for their listed size, even for a work boot (understanding that many boots are somewhat oversized to allow for work-appropriate socks and winter socks).

Adding aftermarket insoles helped tremendously, stacked in-addition to the existing insoles. The secondary concern I have is stiffer sections of the inner material rubbing against the top of my foot in two separate places.

I’m hoping continued usage/break-in alleviates that problem. My father had a pair of these exact boots just about a year ago, and had the same issues as I do – Very stiff at some internal points, and simply not very comfortable to begin.

I can’t recommend avoiding them nor favoring them, as the price is LOW enough that you will likely get the USAGE you need from them as they are sturdy and seem built-to-last, yet price is HIGH enough that I wonder why there isn’t more emphasis on COMFORT.

I probably wouldn’t repurchase.

I bought these to replace some older work boots I had, only wore these for about three weeks before I couldn’t any longer. They’re very durable and have held up to a great amount of abuse in the few weeks they were worn, however they were extremely uncomfortable on my feet.

The start of the steel toe rubs against the side and top of my foot, and they were very loose to fit. Many uncomfortable rubbing points, and something about them made my entire feet sore into my ankles.

These started destroying my feet within the first few hours of use, and although they felt better as they began to break-in, they still never softened enough to convince me to continue daily-use. I’ve been wearing various work boots with steel toe since before I was ten years-old.

I originally bought these because I remembered that my father also had a pair of these exact boots about two years ago, however I did not remember that he was not very impressed with the fit of the boots, at all.

They’ll surely be used again at some point, but I can’t use them on a daily basis or for extended periods of time. I work nearly 12 hour shifts in warehouse and these simply won’t work for that, not for me.

I have purchased these boots twice. I am overall satisfied with the comfort, weight, and features provided by these boots. The only thing that I feel could be improved upon is the quality. This is not to say that they are of poor quality, because like I said, I’ve purchased them twice.

I work twelve our days in an industrial environment and these boots definitely allowed my feet to be not just protected, but remain comfortable throughout the day. I was surprised to find that they had many of the features that are usually only received in boots that are much higher in price.

The reason I stated that the quality could be improved upon is simply for the fact that I have had this last pair for almost a year, to the day, and the waterproof feature, that I thought was their best attribute, has run its course.

The part of the boot where the sole meets the side of the boot, right where the ball of my foot is, has failed and is allowing water to get in. Since it is deep in the boot it also prevents it from drying quickly.

Now, I understand that this is something that can be attributed to normal wear and tear, which is why I have said that the boot is overall the best bang for your buck. If you’re looking for a good boot that you won’t have to worry about breaking in for an extended amount of time, or a boot that is on the less expensive side while still providing the characteristics of a higher end boot, then this is a great boot to pull the trigger on.

The boots took a little longer to ship than expected but that’s ok. I got them today and I have to admit, I am quite impressed with the quality. Each boot is stitched very well and the fit on each foot feels very consistent.

The leather feels like it will stand up well to the outdoors. Time will tell but based on experience of other boots, I am confident they will hold up well. I haven’t had a chance to get them wet so I can’t speak for how waterproof they are just yet but we have snow coming in so that should be answered very shortly.

As far as comfort goes, they feel great on my feet and the sizing is right on. I tend to wear thicker wool socks in the winter so I tend to go up a half size from my ‘sneaker size’ and that was a good decision for these.

There are no hot spots or areas that cause irritation, which you get sometimes with taller boots. Not with these. No hot spots or discomfort anywhere. The only issue for me are the laces. They seem OK but are a little thin for my liking.

It’s just a preference thing for me so I’ll change them out for some thicker ones. Overall, the quality and comfort of these boots is outstanding and for the price, the value is hard to beat. I have no doubt that they will hold up well as a winter / cold weather boot.

I bought my first pair several years ago and I’m buying a new pair this year. For comfort, warmth, and durability balanced with cost, these are great. I wore them for three full years of heavy use before they wore out on the stress points where the toes bend halfway through the fourth year.

The waterproofing only lasts until the first good soaking. Heavy frost/dew will go right through, but you can quick-step through a shallow stream and stay dry. Camp Dry/Scotchguard will renew the waterproofing until they get soaked again.

This time I plan to treat them with Mink Oil. Once the snow flies I use rubber boots so these are mostly for dry hunting. These are amazingly warm and comfortable sans water. A great upland boot, and great for extreme cold weather where the snow isn’t melting, just not good swamp boots.

Have not worn them much yet, hour or so to start break in. First impressions are. 1. Nice looking boot. 2. Not sure yet, but the left boot fits much looser than the right boot. I REALLY have to crank on the laces to get the left boot to not wiggle around on my foot.

3. came with 2 different laces lengths. Left lace is easily a foot longer than the right. No prob. just weird. 3. With all the leather, a largish sole, and the insulation, it is a heavy boot. Shouldn’t be a big problem as my longest walking distance will be right about 3 miles + or -.

But I think it will last a long time. The stitching and glue points are all nicely done. These will strictly be winter boots, used from November 1 to February 1, most years. Probably last me a good long time.

4. All in all, I think the size issue will resolve itself as I break the boots in better. Can always add another pair of socks to the equation.

Ive has these for a week now. I work in a kennel and deal with a lot of water to clean them as well as concrete and tile. I love that i dont slip in these boots on wet tile like other similar boots. They are flexable with is amazing because ive had boots split where they bend when squating.

My feet also didnt hurt nearly as much as they normally would in a pair of new boots worn all day long. They were a little tight at first but the leather loosened up quickly and they are very comfortable.

I also love that the sole is sewn on, with extra on the toes to ensure it wont come off, ots also a thick sole so i dont have to worry about them wearing out fast. My only complaint is that they are meant to be water proof but my feet are still getting wet.

Im going to try sealing them with an oil and hopefully that will fix it. Id suggest getting the next size up with boots (you wear size 8 1/2, id get 9). I gave 4 stars because the water is a major thing in my job and it is extremely unpleasant to work 8 hrs or more with wet feet, but otherwise the boots are amazing.

Bought for work as a delivery driver for fall/winter use. These are my third pair of Carhartt Wellingtons. last pair lasted for 9yrs. This is the first insulated/WP pair. Insulation is light but they stay warm down to around 20⁰ but don’t get too hot when it’s 50⁰.

Love the rubber armor around the bottom! Very stiff and great ankle support. Average traction. After 2 months they are wearing well. They are stiff when new, mine are just now breaking in. Seem to run a bit small as usual.

consider buying ½ size larger than normal especially if you use thick socks. They’re not cheap but I’ve found you get what you pay for with boots. Lastly, they look great. the black bottoms really set them apart in appearance & function.

This is my second pair and the first pair have held up really well. The only reason they dont get a 5 star is because around the 8-9 hour mark on concrete floors my feet tend to get sore. I have had other boots that last between 10 and 12 hours before my feet get sore.

Over all a good boot. If I’m sitting at a desk or operating heavy equipment off and on during the day my feet are great in these boots. They could use a better cushioning system. I have talked with younger guys that dont have this issue, but they are in their twenty’s.

I could wear concrete shoes in my twenty’s without complaint.

As a 15 year veteran of Keen boots and the last 2 yrs of being disappointed with the Keen workmanship, I decided to go with Rocky from a couple recommendations from friends. The boots are very comfortable and well made.

I will keep on wearing Rocky boots from now on. Now the reason for giving 4 stars out of 5 is because the inside right rear ankle area is coming loose, only after 3 weeks of wearing them. I contacted customer service and they were extremely fast at getting back to me.

There is a 1 year warranty if these boots which is good, but it can take up to 15 days or so to get my new pair which seems a little long. Overall a great comfortable boot and will continue to wear Rocky’s.

Decent boot overall but still has flaws. Internal foot bed is soft and comfortable for walking during a full workday, but is too soft if you have to lift anything repeatedly. Foot bed collapses immediately once you lift something and you can feel how rough the soul is in the balls and heel of your feet.

Does not recover quickly with repeated lifting. Composite protective toe seems to be sized appropriately for wide and narrow widths, unlike with Rocky boots of past where the protective toe was sized for narrow widths only.

External rubber toe coating is a nice touch as you don’t need to add your own to protect against abrasions, however it has a rib that will snag on catwalk stairs and anything rough by your feet, I ended up sanding mine down as it snagged on virtually everything in my workplace.

The soul seems rugged and durable, I work on catwalk for up to 10 hours a day, there have been no cuts, tears or torn chunks in the soul as has happened with many other boots from Rocky & other brands.

No kick off lug is very annoying and should be brought back on all pull on boots. This boot features a small piece of material that covers the seem of the internal liner by the heal area. Only time will tell if this feature actually works to prevent the liner from tearing at the seem from daily wear but at least somebody was thinking about how to prevent premature failure of a boot from the liner tearing.

It would seem better if the whole seem was reinforced or not have the seem at the heel to begin with. Break in only took one work week instead of two as experienced in the past with other boot models.

Maybe Rocky will actually improve upon this boot and keep it in their lineup more than one year. It is annoying to try and use a warranty on a discontinued boot.

Bought the shoes with full understanding that wearing in a new pair of work boots will cause some foot pain but was pleasantly surprised. Very comfortable boot, worn in nicely with little to no issues.

Boots fit to size. Being a mechanic I’m very hard on my work boots but no issues yet. Composite toe is nice for colder temperatures.

overall I would rate this as decent snake boots. + appears to be legit tough snake boots + nice and high on the calf. + They are waterproof + They are not hot and sweaty (average temp while I was working 60-70f, so they may be, i just havent experienced it.

) + Comfortable out of the box. + although high lace, they are flexible and I can actually move well – even though I ordered wide boots I could still barely slide my foot in the boot. – There was a hard nodule on my left boot that was causing a lot of pain.

i took a lighter and melted it down – The quick tie eyelets around the ankle are more a hassle than useful. If not for the quick tie lace rings I would highly recommend to a friend. I may lace them in such a way to bypass them in the future.

I am satisfied with my purchase.

These are the second pair of Rocky snake boots I’ve purchased. Nice boots. The first set has performed well the last two years. They are actually still in decent shape I just wanted new ones. No idea if they actually stop rattlesnakes fangs.

The new ones were sent with a small half inch cut on the top of the toe portion on one boot. It looks like someone tried repairing it by using glue to smooth it out. Still very noticable but I doubt it affects the use of the boot.

I let Rocky know when I registered the boots and also told them I was ok with the cut since I needed to use the boots and couldn”t send them back immediately. No response from them about that at all.

Aside from the cut, they are good boots and break in was minimal.

Worn only 2 times Don’t know if water proof or not- haven’t been n wet conditions yet I prefer leather over rubber because I live n the south and leather breathes better than rubber Got these to early season deer hunting and spring turkey season Snakes r very active here during these times of the year here.

They r comfortable and lighter than rubber snake boots Wear almost as good as tennis shoes The problems I’ve had with leather is their inability to maintain their water proofness over time We’ll c w these The reason for 4 stars is only because I haven’t had enough time n them to make a true comparison Leather will give ur ankles more support than rubber too.

I don’t understand why boot manufacturers make an insulated snake boot! If u decide to give these a try – I think u will b happy w them. I am – so far!!.

For the price I dont think you can beat them. Are they red wings no, are they nicks or whites no. But there under 200$ and have lasted me a year and still going. I’m an industrial/commercial electritian and do construction on the side so yes these boots take a beating.

I honestly thing for 150$ your not going to find a better boot that’s comfy and durable. Listen I own red wings, timberland, other Irish setter wing shooters , Thursday boots, and many others and this is by far my favorite work work boot.

Everyone should own a pair of these. They do run big, I usually wear a 9-9. 5 in gym shoes these I wear an 8. 5EE so I’d recommend going a half size down from your gym shoe size same goes for red wings (just an FYI) I’ll be getting another pair once these are done lol they may even be re soleable if so ill probably go ahead and do that so there’s no break in period and there already formed to my foot.

You will not be disappointed with these boot I can almost guarantee you that, you will need to break these in but it’s a pretty short break in period when compared to other high end boots depending on what you do and how often you wear them id say anywhere from 1-3 weeks.

I bought this boot a couple weeks ago in my normal sneaker size and initially they felt decent in store with thick boot socks. Unfortunately after they started to loosen up I began to experience uncomfortable sliding when I walk.

After doing more research and trying on different styles of Red Wing shoes I now know my normal sneaker size of 13 translates into an 11. 5D in Red Wings. So now I have a pair of barely two week old Irish Setter Ashby’s that I can’t return to the store due to having worn them.

So I am basically stuck with two very big paperweights. So my advice is to get into a store and try on not only your regular size, but also a half or full size down. Save you from wasting some money like I did.

I went into my local Red Wing store looking to buy Red Wings this was just a little over a 6 months ago during Covid. My size was not available anywhere and was on back order, so I opt for these. I had to buy an after market insole that made them much more comfortable.

They have held up very well, considering I walk large construction sites daily. My only issue or complaint is I wear a wide work boot. I was told by the Red Wing salesman when he sized me up that these would stretch and become much wider and not to get the wide version.

Well that was a mistake for me, these boots do not stretch out and after 8+ hours, I cant wait to get them off. So if that’s a good thing for you not stretching out. buy these boots.

Got this boot to be slipping on all wintertime. not winter yet but I;’ve been breaking it in when camping, around the house, walking the dog- this boot is actually really comfortable! it’s water proof.

I was washing an iron skillet in the lake and wore the new boots submerged a few inches just to give them a nice test. waterproof they are, and it was a couple minutes of scrubbing out burnt potatoes and bacon grease.

these boots are more comfortable than the fort lewis danners I remember from wearing in the milliterry! nice job danner! thanks for the quality. you done good on this one. amazing for a slip on/off. just amazing.

I bought these primarily for welding. I love being able to just pull’em on and go. Everything about them is great except for the top feels like it’s a little wide. I’m a pants over the boot kind of guy and top of the boot is wider than some of my pant legs.

Also because of the width, I sometimes hit the gas/brake or brake/clutch simultaneously… Small complaint, good all around work boot. Dannerdry is a big plus.

I really wanted to like these boots, they took about a week and a half to break in. Once broken in they are great, however the first pair I bought had the outsole coming apart after about 4 months. I took them back and Danner replaced them under warranty.

2nd pair lasted about 2 months before the exact same thing happened. I will never buy a Danner boot without the vibram one piece outsole again.

These boots started out great when I bought them in April of 2021. I had to get used to walking with the wedge style sole, not a problem. In August I blew out one of the eye hooks, it literally broke in two, the front away from the back (rivet came undone).

I lived with them that way for another few months. Then in November, the same thing happened, now outside of the 6 month warranty. I took them to a Red Wing store and they told me they could fix them, no problem, only about $6 an eye.

I told them that was a problem for me, not financially, but just the fact they wouldn’t stand behind the craftsmanship. Since the second eye came off, I started wearing my old boots from another manufacturer about every other day.

I barely had many miles put on the Wingshooter. I replaces the laces with paracord after having one lace shred (maybe from the eye?), and decided to do that with all my boots. I had an old pair of Irish Setters that I wore right into the ground, they lasted MANY years, so I hoped to get the same from these Wingshooters.

not the case. If this is how they will hold up, I will never buy another pair, especially with the limited warranty. I’m enclosing a pic of my boots, you can see they have little wear, just missing the eyes.

I was looking for a waterproof boot for the winter months and wanted to try Red Wing or Irish Setter again. I did not have much luck several years ago but now lived in Minnesota and have several Red Wing dealers close by.

I wore these boots for about 4 weeks. I had applied leather conditioners before wearing but they never seem to feel broken in even after several weeks. My feet have never hurt so bad. I went back to the store to see if there was a return option.

I was just a few days past the 30 day guarantee at this point. The manager said there was not a return or exchange option but that he would “make me a great deal on another pair of boots. ” I said I just spent $200 on these and why would I want to spend more money on a another pair of boots.

I have been wearing Thorogood boots for the last 8 years without a single comfort or construction issue. Again I thought I would try Red wing because of manufacturing issues, I was not finding the Thorogoods in my size but needed new boots before the winter came.

I continue to wear them because of the money spent but can’t wait for spring so I can switch back to my Thorogoods. I will never spend my money on another Red Wing or Irish Setter product.

This boot is greatly lacking in performance and fit. I’ve used Red Wing work boots for may years and have been very satisfied with the products I’ve had from Red Wing. However, I regret purchasing this Irish Setter product, in fact this is my first product review of any type which I felt compelled to write because the design is so poor.

My issues mainly revolve around the sole and the fit. The outsole is claimed to prevent mud buildup, which it does at the expense of traction on any surface other than dry asphalt. The tread (if you can call it “tread”) is simply hopeless and I found myself slipping in conditions my Red Wing work boots (designed for use in factory environments with a smoother sole) could easily handle.

Snow, mud, wet/damp grass or any mildly adverse condition and this boot cannot cope. Additionally, the sole is incredibly flexible. So if you intend to walk any distance your arches will quickly tire, especially if any hills are encountered.

The “UltraDry” waterproof membrane may keep moisture out, but it does not breathe well and I would advise looking for a product that uses the original brand of breathable waterproof membrane. Any basic hiking boot works better than the Wingshooter in the above areas.

I found the fit to also be very poor. The volume of the boot is extremely large such that my foot slides from side to side even in a normal width. Since there is no actual foot retention my feet slide forward and the heel is not held in place and blisters easily occur.

Wrapping the laces around the back of the ankle before lacing up the hooks helps somewhat, but it cannot solve this issue; its like wearing a loose fitting leather sock. Since the volume is so large, even with thick socks, the edges of the lacing eyes meet before I can achieve a decent hold on my feet.

I don’t think my feet are difficult to fit as I’ve never had such issues with any other boot before. I have none of these issues with my steel toe Red Wing work boots and have taken to using those in the field rather than the Wingshooter.

I would strongly advise any potential customers to seek a different product.

In the last 2 years I’ve had 4 pairs of these boots. 2 pair I purchased using my company’s work shoe allowance, and 2 pair I’ve purchased with my own money. I’ve work at my company for over 32 years.

Prior to finding and purchasing my first pair of the Georgia Giant G6374, I was a Doc Marten Boot fan. The ‘break in’ time on the Doc Marten’s was substantial but once you broke them in, they lasted a long time.

On average, about two years of good use in an industrial environment. In comparison, now that I’m at the end of my 4th pair of these Georgia Giants, I’ve only gotten about 6 months before I’m walking around in them with a hole in the sole.

This is really unacceptable for an industrial steel toed work boot. The only reason I’ve continued to purchase them and given them a 3-star rating and not a worse rating is because they are sooooooooo comfortable right out of the box.

Man, they fit and walk like I’ve got New Balance walking shoes on or something. Very, very comfortable immediately upon first wear. I just wish the sole would last longer!.

Very high quality and high value. Better as a work boot than a hiking boot because the edge of the sole sticks out a bit. Review after 1 month and worn several times in snow. These are not stated to be waterproof, but I suspect with waterproofing applications they should be water resistant.

Of note, these are not insulated and do not have an inner layer of padding inside the leather upper. Mine fit true to size with enough room for thick hunting socks. One minor issue, the tongue of under the laces should be about 1/2 inch longer.

It is just long enough to stay under the laces, but in hard use I could see the tongue slipping down exposing shin to laces.

I have been impressed with these since the moment I first tried them on. I was worried that ordering online might be a hassle and that the fit could be off. Mine were true to size and I really appreciate that the toe box is roomy and the width correct.

I don’t have any pressure points or hot spots when lacing up or wearing them. I will say that the second hook grommets are much farther back than any boot I’ve had before and I find myself skipping them.

Even so, they are secure and comfortable and the I haven’t even really needed a break in period because the leather has been supple enough from the start. I have several weeks wearing them and I am impressed with how comfortable they are even at the end of a long day on my feet.

I can’t see buying anything else in a few years when I eventually wear these out.

I realize that it’s only been a few days, so take it with a grain of salt, but. FThe boots look fantastic. The leather is soft and high quality. I’ve beaten these boots up more than I think I ever have any other boots in a 4 day span, and they’re still very comfortable.

PS. I had hot slag from a cutting torch melt holes in the sole one boot the first day I wore them, but the good news is they can be re-soled down the road if I deide to.

My 4th pair of the same boot, only thing I will wear for saftey at work. Comfortable right out of the box. Will last alot longer than expected if you oil and take care of the leather easy to clean soles as well.

Probably the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. Had a hard time getting over the price tag, but well worth it in my opinion. The leather inside the boot, at the bottom of the shoe laces was a little tight but after about a week of wear, it loosened up some.

I am a welder/hvac mechanic, and I have noticed less back pain after work with these.

I have worn these boots since ’13 & they do not disappoint. They handle the ever changing conditions in the patch: hot & dry to wet & muddy, diesel, oil, grease. they wear well. They break in pretty easy & the great part is they don’t stretch out like other boots do.

They are in fact waterproof & it last. they pair I’m replacing actually has a crack where the boot bends & it still keeps my feet dry.

This boot is far and away the best boot I’ve come across. I’m a big guy and the square steel toe fits more comfortable than any round does for my elephant foot. Now that doesn’t come with a price. I mean to tell you that like all of the truly best boots, the break-in is one of the most miserable experiences you’ll ever have, which for me is about 3 weeks.

Keep in mind even with a 12-wide I still have to get them stretched. But after the pain, you’ll be in heaven. I sincerely hope that this boot stays is production for a long, long time. And Rocky, if you do read this, I only say the following due to the business nature of the products you sell: This boot ain’t broke, don’t go trying to fix it.

Usually the only reviews I do are bad ones, but i’ll make an exception here. Rocky makes the most-comfortable slip-on work boot I’ve ever worn. There really isn’t any more that needs to be said. Their quality seems to be on par with any other manufacturer, so it really comes down to fit and finish.

I’ve had several different brand boots – Ariat, Justin, RedWing, Timberland, Cheap Boots, Wolverine. Georgia. I always come back to Rocky – usually before the other boots are more than a couple months old.

I broke my foot in these boots. The boots held up wonderfully! My foot? Not so much. This pair lasted about nine months before the soles got uncomfortable, and the steel toe on the right boot made a weird cracking sound when I was crouching down.

I work with dogs inside and outside, so having boots that are slip resistant, safe, waterproof, and comfortable inside and outside are perfect, and these boots are great. They don’t breathe great, but that’s to be expected for most boots.

Still, I plan on sticking with these boots for a long time.

I bought these about a year ago. I do fire inspections and I’m not on construction sites or that type of thing but I’m in heavy manufacturing plants and those kinds of places so I’m required to wear steel toe.

These never got a drop of water on them or muddy and within 6 months of just walking in them, they both split on the top outsides where the steel toe would meet the material. For what I do, I get a minimum of 2 years from a sub-$100 pair of work boots so I’m a bit disappointed.

They ARE comfortable to walk in, to be fair and had no/minimal “break in” period. But when they’re split, its considered faulty PPE so I can’t use them for work.

Always purchased redwing boots my whole life. When I could not order them online and the closet store is 50 miles away and they would not answer phone so I left message and they never called back I started looking for other brands then my son in law told me about Thorogood boots I checked them out and ordered a pair.

Best choice I made. You have gained another customer for life. They are the most comfortable boots, fit is perfect and construction seems very well. You gained a customer for life. And I will tell everyone.

These are good boots. They are exactly as advertised. Well constructed and once the short break in is through they are comfortable for a boot. My rating is based on the category of boot and price point.

For me 3 star means it’s good and exactly as advertised. Watch Rose Anvil on YouTube cut these in half for what’s inside. In my opinion the boot is built sturdily with a balance toward value. I wish thorogood would get rid of the Cotton Drill Vamp lining as it will wear out and I also would prefer a leather welt instead of synthetic.

But more leather means more cost. Replacing the welt with a leather welt would also allow for a less expensive resole/reconstruction. To my understanding the synthetic welts do not fair well when re used.

Overall I would purchase again and am pleased with the boot for the price/construction/and materials used.

The picture of the item online does not show that this boot is a side zipper style boot. I’ve never owned a pair of zipper closure boots before and it may have made a determination on whether I would have purchased it to begin with but the boot actually is very comfortable.

For those with wide feet the Xtra wide or 4E size is a great width. It has a great tactical style look to it for those in the Security, Corrections and Law Enforcement fields. The sole has lots of cushion for long days on your feet.

I’m glad it has a waterproof membrane but it’s not GoreTex and doesn’t breath real well but it will keep your feet dry, from rain that is. Sweat is another issue though. I wish it was made with a GoreTex liner that breathes better than the generic style waterproof membranes then I think it would be the perfect boot.

I would definitely buy this boot again I think. It would be nice to see this style made in a Coyote Brown in a non-waterproof version and a waterproof version as well. As for the zipper , you can hardly even see it’s there and it’s a very secure closure.

lots of traction with the sole and I like that it is chemical resistant too. Timberland has a good one here but I just wish they had put the thought into using Goretex. I would have paid the extra cost for a quality material.

I love the Timberland brand. You can always guarantee you’ll find fashionable, functional footwear that’ll last a future. Whenever I’m in the market for a stylish, quality pair of boots Timberland is usually at the top of my list.

I have Timberland boots for 10+ years that are still in great condition. When I needed a quick pair of steel-toe boots for work I immediately checked Timberland. These work boots are comfortable, despite being steel-toe and I wear them all day.

They have a lot of room so feet can breathe. If you are between sizes, always go a 1/2 size up. They look like the standard boots and had it not been for the label, you wouldn’t even know they were safety shoes.

I always get compliments on my boots when I wear them and often get asked if I’m from upstate. Overall, highly recommended. If you’re in the market for safety boots, consider Timberland.

I am ambivalent about these boots because the company has been nothing but nice to me. However the materials used ruin what could be one of the best boots on the market. The leather, while cool in the summer, is too thin for jobsites.

It easily gets punctured and I believe could be a safety risk. The first pair I had while working in Sheetmetal. The boots are definitely not suitable for Sheetmetal, welding, or any trade involving hot and sharp metal.

The first pair I had, the sole began to peel off and crumble at the toe within the first 2 months which appears to be an issue for other reviewers. However I think this was just a defect and not a quality of the boot as my second pair did not suffer similarly.

The staff at Danner was very kind and sent me a new pair which I then used for carpentry, masonry, and now for just wearing around and occasional work because I returned to college. For Masonry and Carpentry I think they are tolerable but still made from weak materials and the stitching around the toe quickly tore and I had to repair it with thread multiple times.

Now the soles are nearly worn through after about a year of wear. I think it is a real shame because the assembly in Portland is clearly done by skilled and passionate people but for $230 it is a disappointing that the company has been selecting cheaper materials and thus squandering the excellent craftsmanship.

I hope that they at least increase the thickness of their leather and stitching and perhaps increase the quality of the soles. Then I would definitely order a new pair. But with the current price and quality I will try a different brand for now.

For those of you planning to purchase, They run narrow so size accordingly. I ordered them wide and they still ran quite narrow resulting in getting a larger size boot which occasionally makes me trip on the long toe.

Also they do not offer much arch support so if you have high arches you will need an insole.

My review is more for The BassPro store and their employees than it is for Danner. We bought a pair of Danner Bull Run boots in October and had to return them in December because they were falling apart.

Bass pro would not replace them we had to call the Danner company directly and spoke to an amazing representative who got our replacement boots taken care. Bass Pro did not want to stand behind their return policy or their products and wouldnt have exchanged the boots if it wouldn’t have been for the Danner customer service representative making them do so.

It is now May and the boots are falling part again and again Bass Pro will not exchange boots that cost over $200 and are coming apart at the seams in less than 90 days since they were purchased. One Bass Pro employee said they wouldnt return them because they looked like they had been worn to work in.

News flash they are WORK BOOTS! So will get Danner involved again to get the boots replaced and I have no doubt they will take care of the situation and stand behind their one year warranty. Danner has always been the go to brand for work boots around our house but after 2 very irritating experience with bass pro employees we will no longer be shopping there for work boots… or anything else.

I am completely shocked at how they handled the situation and expect more from them.

So I really wanted to like these boots, and to be fair, I think they look great. The problem is the fit, finish, and feel. Right off the bat, the design doesn’t accommodate the additional steel toe on the interior dimensions.

Meaning what should be a size 9. 5, now needs to be a size 10 or 11 to fit the same toe. But this means that the rest of the boot doesn’t fit. In addition to this, when it doesn’t fit great, and is constructed with very stiff leather, it rubs all the wrong way causing blisters.

As for the finish, with something at this price point, I wasn’t expecting the brown leather color to rub off so easily on any clothes they came into contact with – aka socks and pants. Overall, very dissatisfying for me.

Maybe if I had a different foot shape and didn’t care about the brown transfer to my clothes, they would have a higher rating. You be the judge.

Very good looking, well made, rugged work boot. I’ve been a plumbing contractor for over 30yrs. I’ve worn many different brands over the years. I gave it 3 stars because these are the most uncomfortable work boots I’ve ever worn.

I like how they look and when I first put them on they feel ok. However, after being on my feet or walking in them for long periods of time my feet really start to hurt. I’ve only had these for a little over a month and thought may be the break in period but seems to be getting worse.

It’s like the feeling you get when you’ve worn out a pair over time and you know it’s time for a new pair. These are new and shouldn’t feel like that right now. Would not purchase again.

I have owned about 10 pair of Justin Boots over the last 7 years. I always buy a new pair every 8-10 months. These are by far the most comfortable and softest leather yet. They feel like you don’t even have boots on.

Got them on sale and will definitely be buying another pair to put up for later use.

These boots run 1. 5 sizes larger than other Justin boots. I own several pair of other Justin boots size 9. 5 but these boots in 8. 5 are still to large. To complicate matters the boots are dropped shipped from the Justin and do not include return labels or postage labels.

Return labels must be sent from Cabelas customer service and can take up to a week or so just to receive the label then return them. Not everyone has a printer at home to download and print your own shipping labels.

I had to return two boot sizes, then the third pair of boots I received are still slightly to large so three sizes down from my other Justin boots. to aggravate the size issue, one boot was larger than the other I confirmed this with a measurement across the top of the boot at the ball of the foot location and one boot was approximately 1/4″ wider than the other.

After approximately one month of sending three pair boots back and forth I gave up and kept the last pair and put an extra insole in the larger one. Like I said I own other Justin boots and do not have any issues with sizing as my feet are both the same size.

This transaction was very disappointing.

I still have two pairs and while the side heal is worn due to my working stride they’re still perfectly functional. My boots are the steel toe version due to requirements of working around forklifts.

My use was generally walking over 10 miles a day in a factory environment. For me these boots comfortable whether indoors or outdoors, whether trapping through over the knee snow for over an hour with a pair of wool socks in below freezing temps; when a phone would turn off while in the pocket but feet never got cold even with the steel toe.

I could still be wearing for my current job but the soles are just to aggressive to walk over golf course greens.

I have worn my first pair of Milwaukee Steel toe boot for about 10 years. Finally had to replace them, because the ankle cuff wore out. I bought the exact same model, was happy to find them still being made.

Fit is the same great. But on the new boots, the fast hook eyelets are crummy weak cast metal, broke one while tying laces!! Taking them back less than 3 weeks later.

I recently made the switch to these boots after my last 3 pairs of Belleville boots. I was attracted to these for the features, price, and the fact they’re made in the USA. After a couple weeks of wearing them, I cannot recommend them to another.

They are very comfortable (at first), you couldn’t tell it’s a steel toe. The construction looks good and robust. But 3 things kill the deal with these boots. #1 the lacing eyes are not engineered to allow the wearer to pull hard on the laces to tighten the boot up.

The laces bind and feel like they’re going to snap before the boot tightens. #2, the ankle area is the only area that can tighten because it has hooks type eyes for the laces. And this ankle and tongue is firm and is painful on the shins.

#3 they don’t breathe well at all. It’s fall and cooling off and I find at the end of the day my feet feel like I was wearing Boggs in July.

Love the boots. Was first worried I ordered the wrong size but got my foot into each boot and it loosened up the leather. The boot feels a bit bigger but not by much. I don’t mind it and would rather have a bit more than a bit less room.

Super comfortable so far as I put em through the paces. Give yourself some break in time, oil the leather to help loosen it up a bit. Mine are still breaking in but they are getting easier and easier to get on each time.

positive thing ill say is the boot is pretty comfortable. now for the negatives. first thing is the sole is already starting to spread/come apart where it is stitched together. secondly, right at the lower ankle of the boot, the outer side has a dip in it that rubs extremely uncomfortably on the side of the ankle, I’ve actually had to stick an extra sock/rag down the side of it to keep it from rubbing.

this is all within one week of recieved and wearing the boot.
