I needed some #3 weight yarn for a project and ordered two skeins of Red Heart Heart Comfort yarn because under features “Weight 3” was very prominent. I was about to get started on my project and saw “#4” on the label.
All that money wasted simply because JoAnne’s discription was wrong!! Now I’ve got to find new yarn! Thank you very much, JoAnne’s.
The last skein of this yarn I had was a nightmare. I spent more than twice as much time unraveling and detangling as I did working with the yarn. FAR more time. Inside of the few, cosmetically woven layers on the outside of the skein was a rat’s nest of tangles, knots, and massive machining errors.
There were huge sections where every few feet there were “false starts” where a few strands were woven around and around and around each other, then twisted, then smooth, then wound around again. There were even large sections where the yarn will pilled and frayed and even woven INSIDE other strands.
It is impossible for the machine operator to have missed this while it was happening. Whether it was due to poorly trained managers who don’t understand the inherent dangers of archaic quota systems, or just a corporate culture that does not value quality, the result is the same: every time you put down money on Red Heart yarn you are gambling.
There are too many lovely, fairly priced and PROPERLY MANUFACTURED yarns out there for me to gamble my money on this again. Never, ever again. What a nightmare!.
There’s a reason I don’t like to buy yarn online. Reading the reviews, it looked like it would be softer than conventional Red Heart yarn. Not only does it have the traditional stiff texture, it is not “chunky, #5” yarn.
I wanted bulky yarn. this isn’t it. The color I purchased (Claret) is more of a heavy Aran. Suggested hook size is a K, but I’m using a J. I can’t return for credit because of how much I purchased to make a blanket.
This CYC 3 yarns has excellent drape and stitch definition: perfect for year round garments, shawls and home decor. This CYC 3 yarn has excellent drape and stitch definition: perfect for year-round garments, shawls, and home décor.
This yarn is so insanely soft! I was so happy to finally find a good bamboo cotton yarn to use for toys. I do wish they offered fingering or lace weight (not a fan of dk or worsted), but it’d probably lose its sheer softness in doing so.
I literally sleep cuddled up to this yarn. And my toddler fights me trying to get ahold of the skeins to chew on them. They split pretty easily but that’s to be expected from such a soft yarn. They do not tangle horribly, which is why I’m always looking for good bamboo/cotton yarn (versus merino wool, which is soft but tangles/felts horribly).
This yarn would be perfect for making toys/amigurumi! I purchased it with the intentions of making little plushies for my daughter but love it too much to justify making anything mediocre. I also love the colors but would love a broader range as well.
I bought this yarn because I loved how soft it was. I’d never used it so I crocheted a small sample swatch. I started out with a Boye hook and had fits because the yarn split like mad. So I went and bought a bates hook in the right size and after frogging the original swatch I redid it with the Bates hook and had a whole lot less trouble with the yarn splitting.
I really like how soft this yarn is and in the future I’ll stick to working this yarn with Bates hooks. Hook type issue aside I really liked how this yarn works up. I’ve only worked a small amount of the skein I have but, it center pulls nicely and I’ve found no frays or knots so far.
In terms of crochet experience I’d consider myself to be an advanced beginner. I have three different brands of crochet hooks, Bates, Boye and one of Hobby Lobby’s brands, called Yarnology I believe.
The heads on the Yarnology hooks are a cross between the Bates and the Boye. It is not strange for me to swap hook brands if the yarn I’m currently working doesn’t like the hook being used. It doesn’t solve everything but it can help drastically.
I was missing all the crocheting I used to do when I was young. Btw my grandma taught me that. Now I wanted to get back into crocheting and make a blanket in memory of her. This was the perfect yarn for the job.
The purple (her favorite color) was absolutely stunning. I enjoyed making my blanket and it turned out great.

I’ve been trying to finger knit with this and it’s nearly impossible. It’s so pretty with this gorgeous sheen and unbelievably soft. But it’s SO SLIPPERY. I finish one row and start on the next only to find that nearly all of the stitches have slipped out.
I bought 3 skeins to make a small throw but I’m not sure if I’m going to bother trying to finish it.
I love this yarn. Projects work up fast and are very soft and have a nice weight to them. The yarn does shed some while working with it, but chenille is like that so it’s not unexpected. If crocheting, your stitches are hard to see, but it’s easy to feel your way along due to the large gauge.
Again, not unexpected given how plush this yarn is. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this yarn and I do recommend buying it.

A great product to work with. I make scrubbies on the 24 peg knitting loom with this cotton and scrubbie yarn. They work up nice and are stretchy until it is sewn together at the end of the project. Lots of colors of bernat cotton to choose from, great product! Highly recommend!.
This is such a sturdy feeling yarn that I really love using for bags and slippers! The small skein has so much more yarn than you would expect- always impressed by how many yards are in here! Not to mention that the colours are lovely!.

I’ve been buying Sugar’n Cream yarn for decades but I recently bought several balls at my local JoAnn’s that were very scratchy. I noticed the label still says “made in Canada” but the USA cotton symbol was gone.
I wonder if they are now making this yarn with a different kind of cotton, or perhaps they’ve changed their manufacturing process? Well, either way, I’m very disappointed in these recently purchased balls.
With sales, this is a good price and good option (typically found/in-stock in stores) for a 100% cotton yarn. This is definitely on the rougher side as far as 100% cotton yarns go, and when washed turns fairly stiff – would not suggest for wearables.
Seems like it will be quite durable, and great color options.
When it comes to value, nothing beats Caron One Pound! This worsted weight yarn is available in a wide range of shades, perfect for a variety of projects – accessories, garments, home décor, baby and kids projects.
One Pound skein is economical, with excellent yardage – one skein makes four scarves. Conveniently washable and dryable.
The velvety feel of chenille without chenille’s challenges. Feels like butta is so soft, perfect for any crochet or knitting project. Lion Brand have created a pastel palette for babies as well as a fashion palette for adult garments and accessories that can be worn close to the skin.
It is so thin in places and feels like it will break and tear easily. This is not like normal yarn but like a tube that is a bit hairy. After a few washes it will probably really thin out into your lint bin and you will be left with the string bit.
The colors were pretty but not enough to make up for the poor quality. The packaging has a baby on it that seems almost eerie pale, an unhealthy tone. While you are working with the yarn it just stares at you in a creeper way so perhaps another photo on the label would be better with something like a project that has been made from the yarn instead? I purchased this on clearance thinking it would be a great product to try and sadly its not.
If you come across this while in your search for good yarn just save yourself the money and keep on trucking. P. S. on the label the baby is wearing a crochet jacket, but once you look closely you can see its not even made out of this particular yarn and they don’t even offer a pattern for this jacket.
It is very misleading as to what you can do with this yarn.
Very nice yarn to work with. I did notice it looks a little bit “worn already” after working a shawl pattern 1/4-of-the-way through it. Then I read other reviews and that seems to be a trending sentiment about this yarn.
Love the teal color. Reasonable pricing. I would buy it again.
DROPS Paris is a 100% combed cotton, Aran weight yarn that is soft to the touch and with a delicate matte appearance and lovely drape. This cotton yarn works up fast and easily – a great choice for beginners and for creating homeware projects like potholders, cloths and face pads.
DROPS Paris is breathable with high absorbency, and is wonderful for people with sensitive skin, as it does not itch or irritate. Also available in some recycled denim shades that are spun from 100% recycled cotton.
The cotton is excellent quality and available in alot of different colours. I have used the cotton to crochet dish cloth’s which I’ve sold and given to friends and family.
I love this product which I am using to knit dish cloths. My only disappointment so far is that not 1/4 of the way through the pistachio skein I encountered a knot in the yarn where it was joined. I dont expect to have any joins within a skein.
Please note that due to the nature of this yarn, colours may vary within the same colour group. This primarily cotton yarn is brought to life using unwanted and unused fabrics from European textile manufacturers.
This gives the fabric a new purpose in life instead of meeting its end in the garbage. With bright colors alongside neutral tones, Hoooked Zpagetti is perfect for adding zest and texture to any new project you have in mind.

I bought this to make a Santa hat. I didn’t need anything fancy, and I started using some cheap yarn from my stash. It was awful!! This Softee Chunky yarn was perfect. The chunky yarn knit up quickly and it has a nice feel.
The weight is warm, and I’ve worn it as a regular hat through the holiday season. Highly recommend for any project and will use again.
This was a thicker yarn than I am used to working with, but it is also quite soft. I prefer working from the center of the skein, but these were not wound to be able to do that. I did run into quite a few places within the skein where yarns had been tied together, so I was glad to have rerolled them into balls.
Most of the over 20 skeins had a tie in them. Fortunately, with the pattern I was using, I was able to hide them easily. This is the first time I have used this particular type of yarn from Bernat. I don’t think I will be using it again.
I have used other types of Bernat yarn and never had these issues with them.

Available in a wide variety of shades, including neutrals, brights, and pastels.
Conveniently machine washable and dryable for easy care.
Not as soft as the original Handicrafter cotton, and tends to split a little if you’re not pretty careful. But for what I was making (dish scrubbies with this a Red Heart scrubby yarn) it worked very well.
Added some scrubbing texture to the all cotton side.
feels more like string. Says cotton . Would not use for anything you want to feel soft. Not sure what I would use this for. Bought for a blqanket but not happening.

There are many different types of yarn that can be used for clothing. The type of yarn that is best for a particular garment depends on the garment’s intended use. For example, a sweater that will be worn in cold weather will need to be made with a yarn that is thicker and warmer than a summer dress.
The weight of the yarn also needs to be considered. A heavier yarn will be more durable and hold its shape better, but it will also be more difficult to work with. A lighter yarn will be easier to work with but may not hold its shape as well.
The fiber content of the yarn is also important. Wool yarn is a good choice for garments that need to be warm, but it can be scratchy against the skin. Cotton yarn is a good choice for garments that need to be cool and comfortable.
The color of the yarn is also something to consider. A light-colored yarn will show dirt more easily than a dark-colored yarn. A variegated yarn can add interest to a simple garment.
The price of the yarn is also a factor to consider. A more expensive yarn will be of better quality, but it may not be necessary to use the best quality yarn for a garment that will not be worn often.
When choosing yarn for a garment, it is important to consider the intended use of the garment, the weight of the yarn, the fiber content, the color of the yarn, and the price.
