20 Best Yarn For Washcloth (2022 Updated)

Great new scrubby yarn with 2 different textures of yarn all in one. When knitted up they make the perfect loofah without having to tie on different yarns. Love the colors and the look.

Love the color choices. But I can get more ‘scrubbiness’ with certain stitches. More difficult to crochet than polyester scrubby yarn. When I ordered I thought that was what I was getting. (Didn’t read label thoroughly).

Just wish polyester scrubby yarn came in these awesome colors! Will be returning. Definitely do not like, especially for dish cloths!! Put these color choices in polyester scrubby, PLEASE!.

Beautiful color that lasts. Easy yarn to work with in spite of the dangling threads. I make scrubbies for friends who put them in the dishwasher to clean and they continue to scrub well.

Dishcloth giver here. I crochet while watching tv. Dishcloths are practical items to have and to give. This yarn makes even the simplest stitches look interesting – really pretty. The polyester part really does give the cloth longevity, both in strength and helping to hold the color.

It is a smaller gage than some cotton yarns, so the cloth is thinner, and the stitches can stay a little bit tighter. The cloth also seems to dry a bit faster than the thicker all-cotton yarn.

Tried to love this yarn. Heart was not in it. Bernat will brainwash one from expanding one’s horizons to other brands and textures. The cotton feels great. If I was a baby, I would want someone to make me a baby blanket form the swirled Sherbert cotton.

The bamboo circular needles did not love this texture.

When I make gifts for my family and friends I try to cater to their favorite colors. I am always looking to get just the right combinations that will look great and please the recipient. Michaels usually has just what I need.

Sometimes I will have one thing in mind and Michaels will have a yarn that will totally change my mind because it is so much better to suite my purpose.

I love working with this yarn. It is so soft! I ordered a HUGE box full in order to make 2 heirloom afghans for my children in their new homes. I ran into occasional knots in the skein, which was a aggravation, but I was able to work with it.

I would prefer if that didn’t happen at all, especially since the skeins are smaller than her solid colors. The color is timeless and will go with any changes in their decor over the years. I pray that the afghans will be handed down for generations.

I needed a special color combination for a Plastic Canvas box my niece wanted me to make for the new bathroom. I have been to 3 stores with no luck finding the kind of color in the right kind of thread.

No luck. On my way back home, stopped at my local Michael’s, and my eye fell upon this thread, which was The perfect color she wanted! I have never used this type on the needlepoint before, but the color was perfect! Bought it, and boy am I ever so glad! Works great, perfect color, and I Know my niece will love it!.

My brand new skein had a knot about a third of the way thru. I have never ever had yarn before that had a knot in it. They are always continuous. I am writing my 1 star review to include with the other 1 star reviews.

I’m glad I am not the only one that had a knot. and was unhappy with the product. Honestly, I don’t think Vanna White would have put her name on this product had she known how poor the quality would be.

I learned to knit years ago but never finished a project. Decided to give it another try. Made a scarf for my daughter for Christmas. I love this yarn. I’m a very very beginning knitter and although I made the scarf a little too wide, it came out really nice.

Too bad it’s now out of stock in all colors at stores near by me. Hopefully it will be back in stock soon. Beautiful colors.

I purchased this yarn for an afghan and I loved the tones and the way the colors face in and out of the yarn to mimic an ombre- it’s truly a beautiful color. However, the yarn itself is very difficult to work with.

Once you work it, its almost impossible to rework because it becomes fuzzy. I’m having trouble with the yarn gauge consistency (for some reason it twists upon itself while working – have tried from outside of the skein and inside of the skein for starting, have tried looser stitches, etc and still fighting with the yarn.

I’m debating on returning what I have but I want the afghan I was making, but definitely never buying this yarn again.

I love how the colors mesh together. I love the thickness. I love the softness. I love the warmth due to some wool mixed with the acrylic. I love that it’s machine washable. I love how my afghan is starting to look; so beautiful.

The only complaint, and it’s small, is that if you need to frog, it really does not like it. lol But, I do LOVE this yarn!.

My 9 year old crocheted some potscrubbers out of this yarn, and I love how effective they are! I got new “green diamond” cookware, and the scrubbies have done an exception of keeping them spotless, plus they’re holding up very well to daily use (4 months so far) – one fared poorly after losing an argument with the garbage disposal.

The yarn was a great gauge and texture for my beginning crocheter. Obviously you don’t want a sweater or scarf made with this, or maybe you’re a freak that way and you do. I like the idea of a sweater you can clean your kitchen with, just not in my house.

As I pulled my yarn to work, several times a short length of the “yarn” would fall away. It was best they didn’t try to connect these several feet long pieces. I was hoping to use this yarn by itself in the center of a dish cloth.

It’s far weaker than I expected and I’m having to double it with the standard accent cotton I chose to go with it. This means I have to change the pattern as I’m using double the yarn I originally planned on.

In the end I’m not happy with this yarn and will not choose it again. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!.

Do NOT USE this yarn in the microwave for ANY REASON! It WILL BURN YOU! It’s got POLYESTER in it so does NOT work well. Since it has POLYESTER in it, it does NOT absorb water for use of dishcloths or washcloths very well.

I use yarn that’s 100% COTTON ONLY for such things. The colors are nice and I LOVE them; but this yarn is NOT FOR ME! I make LOTS of washcloths and dishcloths for many and others have commented on the difference of the dishcloths when I gave them to them w/using this yarn.

Even others can see the difference in it.

Have used this yarn for potholders, dish cloths, wash cloths, back scrubbers, and plastic bag holders. Have made for myself, gifts, and for sale. Potholders made are double layered (thermal crochet) and they are perfect for potholders.

The small amount of polyester keeps them a little softer than 100% cotton after numerous washes and more colorfast. This is my go to yarn for most kitchen and bath crochet projects. Feedback has been super positive.

This multi colored yarn is very thin compared to the other Brand of sugar and Cream yarn which is close to being the same quality but makes the dishcloths I make of poorer flimsy quality. They are usuable but like I said, more flimsy.

I Use them to make scrubby sponge. Texture of yarn is stiffer than other brands yarns But it help them to hold shape better than other brands. I mixed Red Heart yarn and other brands scrubby yarns to use making scrubby sponges.

Although I wish Red Heart brand to have more colors. I do recommend this brand. It is very beautiful yarns to make crafts.

Because of the nature of using any kind of material suited for a scrubby, it can be a little rough on your hands after working with it for a while. But I think it’s only a concern of you have sensitive hands and/or you are making a bulk amount of scrubbies like I was! Haha! And again that’s just apart of making scrubbies.

I absolutely LOVE this stuff. It holds up SUPER well under use and hides any little mistakes that there may be in your work! I use this for gifts all the time.

I bought the Red Heart Scrubby yarn thinking it would make great little scrub pads to gift along with dish clothes and hot pads. Unfortunately, like most novelty yarns it’s difficult to work with, because it’s scratchy, doesn’t slide well and it’s difficult to see the stitches.

I have tried pairing it with a cotton or bamboo yarn, which works a lot easier and makes a fairly good dishwashing cloth, just not quite as small or abrasive as I originally planned for it to be.

The biggest problem with this yarn it is no longer available. It works up well and is not too difficult to use. The other issue is it has a chemical smell to it that very unpleasant. It also leaves a sticky residue on my hands.

Hopefully, the manufacturer can fix these problems and bring back the yarn.

I am totally hooked on this Scrub it yarn, it is my favorite to use with knitting, crochet, and knitting looms. This is so easy to work with, and I have made many dish clothes with this yarn and they do last.

I prefer the dish clothes made from this yarn better than the store bought dish clothes. Also I can make so many different projects with this yarn. Very durable and it doesn’t tangle! Big plus, I love the colors.

Looks different than the “other” scrubby yarn. I didn’t make dishcloths but did make scrubbies with this yarn and I really did enjoy working with it and I loved the quality of the finished product. It is comparable to the cotton scrubby yarn in sturdiness but it is wider.

It is a totally different look.

1 ball, on sz 5 needles, starting with 25-27 sts, makes an EXCELLENT back scrubber for the shower. Row 1: K across. Row 2: K1, Sl 1 across. Easy peasy! I HATE knitting with it, but the end result is totally worth it.

Scrubby yarn is excellent for its purpose— to create scrub cloths. It’s not particularly soft to work with, but using in small projects is not a problem. Because of the wide range of colors, those scrub cloths can be very decorative.

Both of my daughters liked the scrub cloths I made for them for Christmas and asked for more!.

I have 2 other projects going, so I haven’t had a chance to use it yet. Your customer service, however, is EXCELLENT and I can’t say enough nice things about Kelly and her staff. It’s always an enlightening experiencing to visit Alpaca Direct and I always feel great the minute I enter the store.

Plus – there is laughter and I’m always up for a good laugh. I haven’t met anyone in the store that is not knowledgeable about the products and/or willing to patiently explain anything about yarns or problems with such.

My go to yarn is Encore Worsted. The wool/acrylic mix is perfect for charity knitting. The wool makes the yarn soft – compared to pure acrylic – and the stitch definition is GREAT! I would add pictures but everything I made has been given away!.

I love the shades that are in the colorspun group. Some of them go from subtle to just a hair brighter, where others have significant changes. But all of them are so beautiful. Love the texture. Even though it’s worsted, it’s soft!.

I don’t know anything about quilting or knitting stuff but I bought this for my wife to use. Apparently this is a very tiny roll of it. I saw her other rolls and they are way bigger. She says it’s all good but I think I bought the wrong stuff.

The actual string seems to be just fine it is a nice light blue color just like the picture.

For years I didn’t understand why this cottonyarn was so popular. It’s a little rough, but many use it for making dish cloths. I recently tried it and really like the way it works up in these market bags.

I like the colours available and the value is pretty great. These are popular sellers for me so I’ll continue making my own pattern.

as per my review i think the product is wonderful to work with as a crochet project. this product makes great projects as it does not to seem to be joined together ( in a ball as all one strand not having knots and put together ) where other products i have used and returned to the store for that defect.

I have made over 30 blankets with the Bernat Hadicrafter, It is great.

This yarn makes a beautiful baby blanket. It’s very soft. I have two negatives, though. It sheds white fuzz on everything it touches. I was crocheting in the car and had the ball of yarn on the floor.

I noticed my pants were covered with white fuzz from where I had the blanket sitting. Also, my black carpet was covered with white fuzz which was very difficult to vacuum up. My other complaint is the strands separate very easily, making it difficult bring the hook back through a loop quickly without catching one of the strands.

These things are probably what makes the finished product so soft but they can be problems as well.

I bought this yarn to crochet a baby blanket, and I’m really not a big fan of it. For a yarn called Softee, I feel like it’s really not all that soft. And the weirdest thing is, the texture and feel varies so much between 2 different shades of the same exact yarn.

I bought lilac and white, and the lilac has much more of a soft, smooth feel, while the white is like a rougher less soft yarn and also feels a bit thicker and looks more dull. If I’d seen both of them without the labels on, I’d swear they were 2 totally different types of yarn.

Kind of frustrating since I’m using them both for the same project, and expected them to feel the same.

I was so excited to try this yarn after hearing so much about it. However, I was very disappointed with the quality of the yarn and the colors. There are multiple knots throughout, and although this isn’t a dealbreaker, the balls that I purchased had no center pull that I could find (bought 10 in multiple colors for a project).

The “twists” colors were difficult to work with and I dealt with some splitting. The “twists” are fine to use in a project like a blanket, but projects that have loose ends such as tassels and pom-poms did not work because the twisted colors unraveled quite easily.

Although the yarn is advertised as “machine washable,” I dealt with some dark colors bleeding onto lighter colors, and it wasn’t quite as soft to the touch. This is a very fun yarn to work with and I enjoyed the projects I completed.

I like this yarn but there are some qualities that will keep me from purchasing again. If you decide to work with this yarn, be aware of what you might encounter.

While the picture is Kelly green and the label on the yarn says Kelly green it is more of a dark forest green. I’ve waisted money and now can’t start my project which needed an actual Kelly green color not forest green.

I don’t think I like Vanna’s choice. She needs her eyeballs checked. Cause that’s not Kelly Green. The seller was fine, but obviously changed the color in the photos.

I bought this because my daughter is sensitive to rough textures and the other reviews were saying it was soft and easy to work with. I made my daughter a scarf. As I was making it I messed up and unraveled to remake, it is easy to use, but it is scratchy to the point that my index fingers and thumbs have several cuts on them from holding the yarn to guide it as I go during crocheting.

My daughter wrapped the scarf around her and the first thing she said was “It is pretty, but it’s too rough to put against my neck so I’ll probably drape it around my shoulders and only use it wherever I am already covered up because there’s no way I’m letting this touch my skin again.

” I haven’t washed it yet, maybe it softens after wash?.

I love Vanna’s Choice. The colors are so bright and inviting to wear or use in a special project. I made a sweater for my grand daughter when she was in Kindergarden, first grade , second grade and third grade.

I still have them and she is 18 years old now. She won’t part with her sweaters.

Es ist genauso weich und gut zu verarbeiten, wie das Classic-Garn. Bei dem dünneren Garn ist die Auswahl der Farben hervorragend. Da findet man wirklich für jedes Projekt die passende Farbe, egal ob Herrenpullover, Damenpullunder oder etwas für das Baby-Enkelchen.

Man kann es ja bei Bedarf doppelfädig verstricken. Leider sind in manchen Knäuel sehr viele Knoten (bis zu 5) und dann sind auch wieder 3 Knäuel knotenfrei. Da hat man wahrscheinlich Pech oder Glück.

Diese Baumwoll-Merino-Garne sind mein derzeitiger Favorit. Ich bin gespannt, wie sie sich im längeren Gebrauch und nach mehrmaligem Waschen bewähren. Da muss ich erst noch Erfahrungen sammeln.

Mit 5-er Häkelnadel wird’s schön fluffig und dennoch nicht löchrig. Ein Stern Abzug, da manche Knäuel Knoten aufweisen. Bei einem war das Garn sogar „gerissen“(ohne zusammenknoten was man ja manchmal auch sieht.

Just wonderful scrubby yarn! I used to buy and use the acrylic scrubby yarn (which you van no longer buy for a reasonable price) in dishcloths. It completely replaces the need for a dish brush, so we were a little cautious changing materials.

Now, we won’t look back! Not only does it perform as well as the acrylic scrubby yarn but being 100% Cotton makes our cloths now fully recycleable/compostable! Thank you so much for making this product both accessible and affordable – Grouped Postage is a HUGE Blessing too! Xx.

Use this to make dish scrubbies. Use them then into the washing machine when greasy so have a fresh new one every day. They last for months and when they get tatty they go into the compost bin. Brilliant yarn for making face cloths or dishcloths too.

Well worth the money and eco too as you don’t have to buy those foam washing up sponges.

This cotton yarn is such a good product if you are making dishcloths or flannel. It is difficult to work with in crochet because it is hard to see the stitches amongst all the fluffy cotton ends, but it is soft and well textured.

I bought Nifty Cotton Splash in the Sulphur Lake colorway to weave the Magic Fringe kitchen linens featured on the Woolery blog. It is the heaviest cotton I’ve ever used on my rigid heddle loom, and so the project is moving along very quickly.

The different splotches (splashes!) of color create a fun, faux-plaid effect alongside the more traditional plaid that is created with the Nifty Cotton solids. The yarn is soft! My only complaint is that one hank — of course, the one I was using for warp — had a surprising number of knotted joins (four); I found one knot in one of the solid hanks, and otherwise, none.

Now that I know how quickly this project weaves up, I am thinking about making a second set of placemats in a different colorway. I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase this product, but would check each hank for knots before starting a warp or a complex knitting project with it.
