If by “instant” you mean 4-5 hours, then this is instant. I bought a bunch of these, so I need to use them. As I write this, I have a batch of dough rising. Has been 3 hours already, and judging by the rate the dough is rising, it should get to the point in about two hours.

Great yeast, I use it to make pizza dough. comes out perfectly every time. With one packet of yeast (. 25 oz) i can make two balls of pizza dough for crust, i use one and refrigerate one to use later.

I used this wonderful yeast for baking my spelt rolls to substitute bread. Perfect results! I mix it into the flour and add little sugar, sea salt next blend. Finally come warm water and olive oil. Little flax seeds and knead it well.

Let it sit for a few hours. Bake it.

If Bob’s Red Mill is doing it–its great. I use more yeast than the popular recipes. I place 2-tpblsp in the water (1-1/4 cups) and a teaspoon in the dry ingredients. 6-cups of AP flour. I also do refrigerator rise time / 3-hours.

And a one hour rise on the countertop. (I might add another hour of rise time) I also buy bulk active dry yeast. Wal*Mart had the free shipping I was looking for.

Actually, this is about the shipping and handling, which was excellent. Cannot say anything about the yeast, I have not yet needed to open one – using up what is left of my current supply – so it is stored in the freezer.

The expiry date has more than a year left, so that is very good – storing it in the freezer essentially puts the date on hold. But it will not be around that long anyway.

Ok, I’m Italian. We make all breads and pizzas from scratch. The Rona and everyone suddenly making bread made it rough to locate but I digress. 🙂 This yeast works perfectly every time. Everyone is carb loading because of this.

Great Quality Yeast. Very good size tin 125g, I use how much I need, then reseal it with the handy plastic cap that comes with the tin and store in the Fridge, which helps maintain the freshness of the product.

Gives a great rise, smell and taste. Made Bread, Bread Rolls and Pizza with this and all turned out amazing. I am just a novice baker but I think it was the fact that I was using a good quality product that helped !.

I have used this before, previously purchased from our local supermarkets but to get 10 delivered at such a bargain price is fantastic. I use it in my bread maker and providing you allow the yeast to mix in with cooled previously boiled water water that has had sugar added and allow the fermentation process commence the yeast mix works really well on short as well as the 3 or 4 hr cycle etc.

Works great, it’s the yeast I always use in my bread machine and I love the convenience of individual packets! I have made countless loaves and they always turn out great. Definitely recommend and will continue to repurchase again and again!.

I love baking breads and stuff so making sure my yeast if fully effective is super important ! Buy a few of these separated packages of yeast to really keep it fresh. I always get so disappointed at how fast it loses its potency when introduced to air over a period of time so these packages completely prevent that and they are in such small amounts that it’s usually the perfect amount you’d need for whatever recipe you decide to make.

An avid bread and pizza maker, I rely on this yeast for the perfect loaves I always get. For best results when proofing the yeast, just use lukewarm water. Within minutes you will get the bubbles you need.

Hasn’t failed me yet!!.

I’ve played with several different yeasts, now. What I look for is flavor and convenience. I say this because certain recipes call for proofing in the refrigerator, and some yeasts work better than others.

I have played with some organic yeasts. If your tastes run to a strong yeasty smell and taste, this is probably the way to go. However, you do sacrifice convenience. They must be started in warm water before mixing with cold ingredients and I have had mix results when proofing in the refrigerator.

That said, they do a great job at room temperature and I get really good rises out of them. The other way is instant or rapid rise yeast. These are easy. Just dump and mix. Temperature is far less of a concern.

I highly recommend the Fleischmann’s for a couple reasons, convenience being one of them. The other is dependability. One of the other problems I found, particularly with organic yeasts is that they have a limited shelf life, so you have to order them in small quantities.

The Fleischmann’s I can store in the refrigerator and its still going good after six months. That means I can order larger quantities, which saves me time, trouble and constant reordering. And best of all, it’s dependable.

I have yet to have it fail on me. What really sells me on this product, beyond the fact that I get good, consistent rises out of it, is its yeastiness is not overpowering. I like the smell and taste of yeast in my bread and yeasted pastries but I also want to taste the bread and pastries, too.

This I would rate as a medium strong yeasty smell and flavor, which, for me is just perfect. It gives me the best of both worlds. The other thing I should mention is starters. I don’t like strong sourdough flavor like the San Francisco Sourdough starters.

To me, all I taste is the sour. Again, this yields a medium sour with starters, which is exactly what I like. Good for Jewish Rye or Corn rye. Great for Pugliesi. I highly, highly recommend this product for anyone who likes consistency of rise, dependability and convenience, and doesn’t want an overpowering yeast smell or taste in their breads and pastries.

The yeast arrived quickly and has been working perfectly in several bread and roll recipes that I’ve made with this product. I ordered a second one for a family member. I recommend this product.

I love working with this yeast. I make the most yummy loaves of crusty bread with it. Or cinnamon rolls! Or challah bread! Or pizza dough. Possibilities are endless. It’s great value although I may buy it in bulk next time.

Yeast doesn’t last a long time on our house.

I used it originally in the 7 gm packets. Worked fine but, obviously, had to be matched to the flour, salt, and water volumes. But, as a singleton but also baking in batches for family then moved on to the loose yeast in the container.

That made adapting recipes and measurements more effective. I use a very accurate scale. Be aware that it will slowly lose potency. So use well within the end date. Allinson website is useful, and the recipes all work.

Though, as with all recipes, adapt and modify to suit your preferences.

Over the years I have used fresh yeast, dried, sachets etc. This is definitely the most useful. I have noted the comments of others on its keeping qualities. I have experienced absolutely no problems since I abandoned my breadmaker.

Handling the dough means I can judge if it needs more flour or water. The rate at which it rises can vary hugely. But it always rises. The one thing I do do is reuse the ring pull, laying it on top of the yeast in the tub, so the yeast granules are exposed to as little air as possible.

Several months after opening, I’m still getting excellent results.

I just had my yeast ‘bloom’ fail so I read the label and sure enough it clearly says 1/ Use within 4 months of opening (I didn’t) even though the expiry date is a year from now. 2/ Keep in a fridge once opened (I didn’t as I am a man and I know best) and 3/ Don’t use in bread makers (I didn’t but I noticed just now that those posting negative reviews on here did!).

So, simply put, this worked brilliantly the three previous times I used it but I let it die and that’s down to me. I shall buy it again and reluctantly follow the instructions even though I am sure I know best.

I was a bit reluctant to buy such a large package of yeast but I’m glad I did. I’ve put most in the freezer and started baking with the rest. It’s really lovely stuff. For years I was reluctant to use instant yeast.

I thought you just had to see the yeast foaming in a cup before baking with it. But I’m now a convert to SAF instant yeast. It goes right in with the flour and the results on the bread and rolls I’ve made have been great.

So I’m a very happy baker and I whole heartedly recommend this yeast.

This dried yeast is perfect for my home bread making. I was worried I might not be able to keep such a relatively large amount dry. This was no problem. An airtight container was all I needed and I keep it on top of the ten kilogram bag of bread flour in a bin I bought for that purpose.

I won’t go back to buying either flour or yeast in the supermarket.
