20 Best Yellow Fly Repellent (2022 Updated)

Pyranha is an oil based fly spray providing longer lasting protection than water based sprays. I have always had great success with this product for my equine fly control needs and it’s one I recommend to all my clients.

It does not contain permethrin, which can cause allergic reactions in some horses. Pyrethrins are a natural pesticide found in the Chrysanthemum family of flowers and it is wonderfully effective. If you have tried it all like me, try this product you won’t be disappointed.

I found Pyranha fly spray to be one of the best sprays on the market, however, I have found no spray that lasts as long as the manufacturer states it does. Actually, not much longer than it takes for the spray to dry.

It’s very disappointing to have to spend this much money for a product, not just Pyranha, but all the top sprays, and see it fail after only a short period of time. But still I buy it. Not sure if I use just to make me feel better hoping it works or if it’s truly helping my horses find some relief.

In Florida, where No-See-Um bites result in serious looking, long lasting red spots on my legs, BUGGINS greatly reduced the number of bites when applied sparingly. (I was vacationing in Florida for three weeks and didn’t want to run out of product).

When BUGGINS was applied liberally, it repelled the No-See-Ums effectively. One 4 oz. bottle is enough to last 3 weeks.

This works extremely well. My son, who works outdoors recommended it to me as the only product that repels gnats. I was somewhat skeptical, because we have a lot of gnats at our house and they “eat me alive”.

I tried it and what a difference it made! I will be using this every time I have to go outdoors. I didn’t have one gnat bite while using this. My son said you have to reapply every 3 hours for it to remain effective if you are working outdoors.

The smell is also really nice. Thank you Buggins for making something that helps for gnats rather than just mosquitos!.

My husband has tried everything on the market. This is the only product that works for him. So grateful for your sales $5 each compared to $11.99.

Keeps biting flies from eating my horses alive! One of my horses especially is a target by horse and deer flies. Constantly has blood dripping down his legs. But this repellent works nicely to shield them from constant torture.

The only way it could improve is to stay on better with heavy sweating. Have to spray at least every day when it’s hot or rains. But in all fairness, my horses have a lot of hair and are heavy sweaters: I have yet to find anything that protects and stays on with sweat better.

And its a tad less expensive than other brands with the exact same content ratio. 4 1/2 stars.

I like this product, it smells very good compared to many others. I’ve ordered it several times and am so glad Chewy is selling more and more horse products, as our area has lots of horses but no feed/tack store.

I just received my order, which came quickly, to find the box wet. The bottle was shrink-wrapped. I’m guessing that’s to keep the liquid in if the bottle was compromised. Nothing wrong with the bottle except that the cap wasn’t on tight.

The product leaked out of the shrink wrap. Fortunately I didn’t order any fuzzy toys!.

My horse has been having a lot of issues this summer and fall with skin reactions to fly sprays. He used to be good with Pyrahna’s oil based fly spray for several years until this year. I decided to try this fly spray before going with homemade fly spray, and it works pretty well! He has no skin reaction to the spray (unless you try to soak him in it!).

It lasts several hours; the flies where I’m at are murderous. Overall, pretty happy with this fly spray. I also love the easier pouring system that limits spills!.

I’ve tried several types of fly spray, and honestly none work as well or as long as you’d like them to. But considering this is an all-natural formulation, it works surprisingly well. It definitely gets us through an hour-long lesson or hack without the constant head shaking, foot stamping, and tail swishing during fly season.

She is noticeably more calm/less agitated after I spray her down with this, and it has a very pleasant smell, plus it is all-natural, which is reassuring. I even use it on myself when working at the barn on hot fly-ridden days, and it really does help a LOT.

This is my first time using this product on my pup after seeing some great reviews and talking to my trainer whom also uses this product to gain some insight. Im excited to use it and think it will be great! However I was a little disappointed to see upon opening the box some of the product leaked out on to the box / bottle creating a mess.

Luckily it wasn’t the whole solution however I wish the bottle was safely secure to ship with out spilling. Just be aware when purchasing!.

This fly spray smells better than many and seems to repel the flies (at least while it’s freshly applied). I’ve tried others, but always come back to this one because it just seems to work best for us.

4 stars are due to the spray bottle breaking for no apparent reason, every single time.

There were many varieties oftter fly spray to choose from. I use Ultra Shield Green which is natural until the later in the summer when we need a bit stronger fly spray. Dover has it covered in terms of availability and choices.

Additionally, the salesperson was exceptional. Very helpful.

I moved from AZ to IL this year and encountered flies like never before, including the large black biting flies referred to as “B-52’s”. I’ve used ecovet before and had good results but would switch back and forth between this and a natural spray.

However the B-52’s are vicious and relentless and nothing worked against them except ecovet. When I want to clear the barn of flies, I spritz in front of the aisle fan and the flies disappear. I wish Ecovet would make a barn spritzer! Long story, I’m not crazy about the ingredients in this, but my horses have to come first.

I use fly sheets, but here they just get too hot to keep them on all day, sweating profusely. So I have to rely on spray more than I’d like. This works–not as well as they claim. I have to reapply daily, and in the evening, when B-52s are particularly bad, I spritz again.

Still it’s better than constantly applying pesticides. But, you do have to follow directions. Start with a CLEAN horse. I bathe my horses every 1-2 weeks to start fresh again, depending how much rolling etc they’ve done.

If you put this on over other products, it’s effectiveness is diminished. Same thing if you use other products in addition. It takes a little extra effort, but it’s worth it.

Sadly, I have to leave a negative review. I was thinking this would be a great option, despite the price, because my wonderful vet recommended it. Now, I’m in a city with few boarding options. The best place for my horse has very poor manure management, which means many flies.

I keep trying different sprays and had high hopes, but EcoVet didn’t last for 30 minutes. It has such an offensive smell, it makes my horse snort (and I hold my breath). It attracts a lot of dust. My next purchase at the local TSC was for Bronco(e).

Seems to be a much better option.

I have tons of small knats that seem to come from my house plants and drive me crazy! These cute traps work like a charm. Soon covered with caught knats. Effective and not ugly like fly strips. Recommended!.

Sometimes I need to search for these so I was glad I found them on Zulily. I use one them in a group of house plant to let me know there are pests before they become a problem. These are great for trapping white flies which could easily become a winter problem here.

I received an off-brand sticky trap that looks identical to the one in the picture. I know its a off-brand because LIGHTSMAX is no where on the box nor the sticky trap. However, the are working great! I have had 1 trap in a house plant of mine for about a week now and I would says it has caught 20 gnats, and it is still sticky.

Deo-lotion smells great and works as well as other sprays on my horses. I like that it is natural and I can use it on myself. One bottle of concentrate lasts about 2-3 months for my 3 horses and I spray them daily.

This summer was really a challenge in selecting the products to create a nice backyard in North Texas. We had flys, chiggers, and West-Nile Mosquitoes. So I was glad I saw an email ad from Schneider Saddlery.

There were 100 flys at the back door. So I knew that there had to be something that equine treatment could handle. I dilute with water and spray the patio and yard. Amazing results. And I don’t fret about any spray getting on the kiddos.

It really works! My daughter always got bitten when she plaYed outside and its always bad. Bug spray doesnt work for her, so I tried this sticker and it works! She hasnt got a single bite since we used this.

Oh’ how I love these stickers. We tried them last night not only on the children but ourselves and not one bite. We sat on the deck with no citronella candles going. Easy to use and wear on clothing.

Armed with my recent purchase of The Bug-a Salt 3. 0 and Shredder starter kit, I have become Silencer of droning buzz, exterminator extraordinaire, a ruthless and efficient one woman Fly S. W. A. T. team.

I have a personal vendetta against these abhorrent maggots ever since they killed my pet hamster in the most traumatizing way a 12 year old girl might witness. I despise flies with a visceral passion and bought this seemingly ridiculous item to dispense violent retribution upon my enemy thinking it would be a frivolous expense that might give me some small joy in dispatching these disgusting invaders.

We have already destroyed multitudes of swatters trying to get rid of these repugnant pests that plague us, but they persist and multiply, torturing me with their incessant annoying buzz. Since I had been about to resort to an expensive leather device for smashing them, I figured I would temper my frustration with constantly missing them by blasting them with salt instead.

I woefully underestimated how extremely emotionally rewarding this would turn out to be, and also misjudged how effective the tool itself would prove. So glad I gave in to the impulse and got both the pump action and the CO2 powered instruments of fly death.

The rifle has a great spread that knocks the zig zaggers clean outta the air when they refuse to sit still long enough to target with the pistol, and the salt means I do not have to endure complaints of the smell of any spray that I usually resort to when swatting fails the task.

AND I can rid myself of the vile pestilence and cleanse my kitchen of nasty spirit energy at the same time! Apparently I should have joined a skeet shooting team instead of softball when I was in school.

I am so much better at shooting flies with these things than I ever was at splatting them with a swatter! My batting percentage with the swatters was only around. 300 even after a warm up on a good day of accuracy and speed, but armed with the B-A-S duo I’m batting close to 1.

000 on day one. I actually cleared the house in no time and had to go outside to hunt down more flies! I never imagined how deeply satisfying it would be to pick off these little f****** as they perched on the corner of a toaster or glass.

And if that was all it was, it would be enough to make the man who invented this my hero, but the darned thing actually works so much better than a swatter for killing flies, I may claim him as my spirit animal or patron saint as well.

These ingenious gizmos are like BB gun shotguns but they shoot table salt shot in a spray pattern that takes out flies like you read about in the news. They are very high quality for the price, depending on the season will last 2-3 years before the plastic trigger sear finally gives up the ghost.

You are best off using it like a shotgun, point it at your target and USE THE FORCE. I have found that the laser pointer option on these fly-pounders isn’t really needed. You see a fly, point at it, shoot.

Within 6 feet the fly is a gonner. And if you don’t kill the little f*(!@# you will most certainly take it’s mind off having that sweet, sweet, fly sex and making more of itself. What I would really like to see Lorenzo and Skell INC.

do is make a 3. 1 version with an Aluminum or steel trigger sear and a matching end for the plunger rod made out of appropriate metal. If they did that the life of their guns would definitely increase.

But even at a couple years these guns are still worth it. They are dependable and can really make things less annoying when you just want to sit outdoors in peace without frikkin’ flies landing on you and crapping on everything.

Previous to this unit, I bought three of the first-generation guns, and was happy with the one that I used. (I gave one as a gift; the other remains MiB. ) The most important virtue of any of these guns is that they leave behind nothing more toxic than table salt.

You don’t have to worry about poisoning the baby, your companion beasts, or your girl-friend. This model plainly delivers salt at a higher velocity, and so should take-on more formidable foes. It certainly feels more sturdy than the first-generation model.

(I have no experience with the intermediate models. ) By the way, though the first-generation model doesn’t kill yellow-jackets, it does shred their wings, so that they can only walk-around angrily. I guess that Model 3.

Last year my yard was completely infested with flies, they were everywhere, they would get in my house and it was impossible to be outside and enjoy it. The flies were literally driving me crazy! I tried glue traps, sprays, homemade trap, even other store bought traps, they would catch a few but not nearly enough.

I just happened to come across the RESCUE FLY TRAP and figured what would it hurt to try them? They were pretty reasonably priced compared to other traps I had used. I have never been so happy to have just bought something.

The RESCUE FLY TRAPS are by far the best product for flies. Just hours of having the trap out there is already several flies, within a week its full or nearly full. We got so much relief with these RESCUE TRAPS around.

I will never use any other fly traps. Also, just beware the stuff that is used for bait stinks really bad, it shouldn’t be used inside or even to close to where you sit or spend alot of time outside.

It is very easy to set up and get put together. If you want to get rid of flies, use RESCUE FLY TRAP!!.

LOved using this product last year. We were amazed at how well it worked. The smell was terrible but well worth the outcome. We have tried using the refills and also buying new traps this year. The strong smell is no longer present and the trap barely catches a fly.

Were the ingredients changed? Not sure what is wrong, but it is definitely not working as it should. Can no longer recommend this product and we bragged about it to everyone last summer.

The item itself is a great idea. Unfortunately, the packaging left a lot to be desired. We bought these along with a large item, so they just taped them to the large item and they come in a very easily crushable soft cardboard box each.

When they got here the packaging was completely crushed meaning that every single one of the shooaway’s had a bent creased blade. Very disappointing. I mean I guess they shoo away the flies but just disappointing that my item was damaged before I got it.

No care taken with shipping at all :(.

I First saw this product at my friends place. We were having outdoor Korean bbq. He used the shoo away- fly repellent for the raw meat to shoo flies away. I was absolutely blown away, not a single fly around our raw meat and food.

Normally flies attracted to exposed raw meat. Not a single fly around our meat. Went home same day ordered myself two shoo away- fly repellent. I had to have one with summer around the corner. Everyone should get one.

Iv told all my family to get one. Highly recommend.

Bought 3, 1 DOA. Replaced it (thx) and that one runs half speed. Seems like these are cheap / poor quality which is not reflective of their $25 price tag. Not going back a 3rd time for replacements. Lesson learnt.

I love sitting outside at night on the deck or playing with my daughter in the grass but I HATE all the mosquito bites I get from the surrounding woods near our house. I have never used Cutter brand before but I was very pleased and will definitely use it again.

It’s a very easy spray to apply without the greasy feeling of other insect repellents and you don’t have to rub it in and get it all over your hands either. There is no odor to it so i don’t have to worry about smelling like toxic chemicals near family and friends when we are outdoors together.

The DEET concentration was a little lower than OFF brand, but it was just as effective. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and haven’t gotten any bug bites even after heavy rains/muggy air conditions and the spray remains effective for hours.

It is more expensive on here than at local stores though but worth it. I highly recommend this!.

is a must at all times during the summer here in Kentucky. We live on a creek so you can imagine the mosquitos 🦟 and bites without taking precautions. This is the only brand, especially the aerosol cans that I can honestly say works.

There’s also other uses for this product. You’re gonna think this girl is crazy when I say this but if your headlights have that dull look to them or like me own an older vehicle 🚗 the headlights get that way at times.

When they do I simply spray this product on them, let it sit for a bit, then buff em real quick, I spray windex after I’m done but you don’t have to but if you do this you’ll be glad to see better at night 🌃.

Until I learned this trick I had forgotten the actual struggle I had trying to see 🤓. Best part it’s affordable, found in most stores and IT REALLY WORKS!! mosquito 🦟 ❌.

Not half as good as original off but fairly the same price. Smells as strong just not as effective or strong or long lasting as off. Sweating makes a difference so I don’t recommend this product. Spend the extra quarter and get something that’s going to last and don’t need reapplied after sweat.

Bugs we’re really bad this year and we’ve emptied 3 cans and I know off doesn’t need that much application. Don’t waste your money. Just not effective enough if you plan long periods outdoors and sweating.

It most definitely isn’t unscented.

This actually works really well. Be careful of your placement of it, as it needs to be near the top of your hat since the flies prefer landing on the highest point. Also, be VERY careful of your hair, if you’re a girl.

Actually, be careful of everything! I get that thing stuck to something on a daily basis – usually the “something” is me! No matter how careful I am, there is always something to rip it off of. (The strip stays on the hat til “full” or no longer sticky so use a hat you don’t mind giving up to the fly army.

) Another thing I knew, but didn’t think about was that it doesn’t kill the flies, just traps them there. in glue. while they try to fly away and beat their little wings. sometimes for hours, to the point where you can’t figure out what that weird sound is or where it’s coming from until you track it to the still-alive fly on your hat.

There’s also something about that which makes me feel guilty even though I know if given a chance it would suck all my blood out. Anyway, all in all it does exactly what it says. Makes for a more pleasant walk through the woods.

I would definitely recommend it.

These are better than described! We live in Northern Minnesota where the ticks, mosquitoes and deer flies are horrendous. I seem to attract all of them, especially the deer flies. They love hair. I have just figured out that wearing a hat helps in the fight against them, but these patches.

are Amazing! I have gone thru 3 patches in about 5 days. One of the patches was filled to the brim after being in the garden for less than 2 hours. I will forever keep buying these. Easy to put on the cap or hat, and pretty easy to remove even when it is full of flies.

Only Con, wish I knew about them 10 years ago, would have kept family members safe too. I highly reccomend this product! Easier than trying to spread that gooey stuff on cups or paper too.

First introduced to this product working with a land surveyor along the Maryland shore. It was late may or early June and the deer flies were relentless. He pulled out a couple and we stuck them to our caps.

Within the hour we each sported a patch with more than ten of the buggers who would have landed on our necks instead. The patch is merely a piece of duck tape treated with fly paper glue on one side.

You pull off the cover on the side with the duck tape surface (it will stick to hats, clothes etc. but comes off easily with no mess). Then you pull off the outside exposing a VERY sticky tan surface about 6X3 inches.

It serves as a perfect landing spot for the flies but has no chemicals that I can discern. Great for mowing the grass and gardening or even golf. A Warning however, this doesn’t have a happy relationship with hair.

Granddaughters with long hair on a windy day found their hair blowing up and sticking hard to the patch, Many ouches trying to separate hair from patch.

I had a flea infestation in my apartment about 2 years ago and this thing was the only solution that got rid of them. If you don’t know, a single flea can easily lay 50 eggs a day and each egg takes just a few days to become a new flea.

If you just use a regular insecticide you are going to spend your whole life trying to get rid of them with no success. You need something to break their reproductive system and this is the right stuff.

I have found good products to do so (even better ones) but this is the Easiest one to find in stores. You MUST Vacuum the entire place once or twice a day to help controlling the bugs. I have applied not only in carpets but on the entire floor.

(I don’t have pets, so no concerns about it) You must reapply it in 7 days. Then in 21 days. Because not every flea will be killed at first. A possible survivor could even be able to lay new eggs BUT these new fleas won’t be able to reproduce anymore.

I don’t like that spray button but I like the product so I’m still using it as a regular insecticide plus a great shield protection. It never fails.

Let me just say this. I don’t normally leave reviews, but it was NECESSARY today. BTW, This was an in store purchase so I wasn’t contacted via email to review this item. So I must have been some kind of upset to come on this website to write about this.

Anyway, this kills ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, but smells great. I sprayed an insect in my home yesterday 5 TIMES. And after SO MANY MINUTES, it FINALLY ended up on it’s back. TODAY, I went back to find the insect STILL FIGHTING FOR IT’S LIFE.

I cannot make this stuff up. I just ended up throwing away the whole can I JUST bought because returning it would have been a waste of time. RAID, you all should be ashamed of yourselves. I’m going back to the regular RED CAN RAID.

I would rather smell chemicals all day and know that it’s going to work than use something that smells good, but not work at all. And no thank you, i am not interested in the unscented one either.

(’22) IC: Daily Task – Raid has been in the insect killing business for a long time; a brand you know and can trust. We’ve used this brand for a very long time and off brand names just doesn’t do it.

This insect killer is made to kill a great deal of insects on initial contact. It can be used both inside and outdoor. Suggested use about 3 feet from interior walls, fabrics and furniture. Keep out of reach of children.

I would recommend it to anyone. Sold almost anywhere you purchase your home products.

Pros: works great for the kids and is the best smelling spray I’ve tried – and I have tried a lot. Cons: This only keeps mosquitos off me for about 10/15 minutes IF I saturate myself completely (mosquitos are relentless with me).

Works better for the kids, but I have to totally saturate every centimeter of their body as well, and we have to reapply often. That makes us go through it very very fast. I feel it’s too expensive for how fast we go through a bottle.

I do like it, but will probably buy it in the future when it’s on sale.

I love that this product doesn’t contain harmful chemicals, like DEET! I took it with me to Costa Rica and am now using it in Michigan after the recent mosquito explosion. I am a gardener, so I’m outside A LOT.

It works great! I can see them hover, but once they get near, they do not bite. You must be fully covered, even on top of clothes, for it to be truly effective. If I’m out for 8ish hours, I do re-apply the product a few times, but I have to do that with sunscreen anyhow.

I’ve used other hippie sprays made with essential oils that have not worked, but this actually does! Happy customer!.

Recently visited the Soap bar was delighted by the products and displays. Love Stick Boy bread. And the pottery has hard to resist. YellowBirds insect repellent works well and has a delightful fragrance.

We tried this spray on the backs of our Kunekune pigs to deter flies and horse flies in particular. It had no effect whatsoever. The files and horseflies in particular kept pestering the pigs, drawing blood on many occasions.

Clearly it doesn’t work on pigs.

Especially like this product because it’s quite ‘natural’ and can be used on broken skin which is a big issue with ‘sweetitch’ sufferers! He winces a little on application (temperature shock as much as anything), but better than the alternatives.

We also spray on flysheet as an added deterrant at dusk!.

I have a very sensitive thoroughbred mare who has always worn a head to tail fly rug throughout the summer. So far, since having this amazing product, she has been able to be turned out without any rug at all !.

I live in SW France and you have not seen flies in the UK the like we have here. In 4 years I have not found a product here that does the job. I was recommended Net-Tex Advanced by a friend in the UK and cannot stress enough how totally impressed I am with it.

The 72 hour aspect is not feasible here, but I spray my three in the early morning, lightly, and they remain almost completely fly free until the next morning. It is not really effective on the crabflies, but for the massive general fly infestation they suffer it is remarkable.

I am 100% satisfied with this Net-Tex Advanced.

Brilliant and effective product. Worth every penny.

Initially very good, & flies stay away when 1st put on. However the flies seem to be very bad & not much seems to be working! But at least when using this, horses get a bit of restbite from the flies.

Highly effective all natural bug repellent. 8 days on a tropical island and only 5 mosquito bites total! I am highly susceptible to bites and welt up large and hard when bitten. This product was amazing.

I Loved the scent AFTER it was sprayed on and zero residue left behind. Absorbed very quickly so I was able to get dressed immediately after application. Able to spray directly on clothes for added protection without leaving stains or residue on clothing.

2 downsides and they are minor; initial smell is very strong even when sprayed outdoors and in well ventilated areas. I quickly learned to move as I sprayed to minimize how much is inhaled because it’s hard to breath it in.

Avoid praying around children and pets! Also, a little challenging to spray on when the bottle is turned upside down which is necessary for certain spots like legs and for eaching your back. Highly recommend this product.

If you are sensitive to smells this may not be a product for you. When I received the bug spray, it was in really nice packaging and super cute. A thank you card was in there as well as a free sample.

As I was sitting at my kitchen table I thought why not give each leg a spray, now I understand I probably shouldn’t have done this in the house. At first I liked the smell, it smelled like a perfumed bug spray but 10 seconds after I sprayed it the smell started to get powerful.

I had to open every window in my house to air it out. My partner and I were coughing, the dog was sneezing and we all had to go outside. Now, again, I understand that was my fault. Mind you, I only gave each leg one spray.

The smell became nauseating. My partner and I headed out to a birthday dinner to meet friends. I sat next to one of them and they asked me to switch spots with my partner because the smell was giving her a headache hahaha.

I went into the restaurant bathroom and washed my legs off with soap and water. Finally, crisis averted. All this to say, I am sure it will keep the bugs away as the smell is hefty.

So I don’t ever leave reviews but this stuff absolutely deserves a review!!! Nothing and I mean NOTHING works for me when it comes to mosquitos, except of course the OFF Deep Woods that leaves you feeling greasy and smelling disgusting.

I’m also an O blood type, so mosquitos literally devour me the minute I walk outside. I used this stuff last weekend doing yard work, 1000% expecting to come in with 20 bites. NOT ONE! I am beyond blown away.

It has a strong smell at first (spray it outside!) but it soaks in nicely, no grease, and it smells pleasant- I’d say a mix of Ivory soap and citronella. The scent stays with you a couple day, depending on how thick you put it on, but it’s well worth it! I 100000000% recommend this if nothing has worked for you before.
