20 Best Yellow Jacket Spray (2022 Updated)

Sprayed this products on three wasp nests in the horses’ run in shed. Some wasps flying outside the nests literally dropped to the ground when the spray hit them. Products kept working We have not seen a wasp in that shed for a month.

You must spray the product directly on the nest.

This stuff is simply the very best wasp spray I’ve ever used. Don’t even bother with the other ones or call an exterminator (& spend hundreds of $). This stuff kills the wasps immediately including the nest if you spray directly at it from a safe 15-20 feet away.

Had a softball sized paper wasp nest outside my door. One good soaking spray in the evening and another one 2 mornings later to get the ones that had returned to the nest the day in between and the wasp nest is completely inactive.

Living in Texas, I’ve learned that everything here is, indeed, bigger including the bugs. So when I learned that Influenster would be sending STEM, a plant-based bug spray, I was excited. This summer we experienced an increase in yellow jacket and hornet nests around the exterior of our home.

Since we have young children, I was concerned for their safety every time they would play outside. My husband had used some sort of spray to knock down most of the hornet’s nests so by the time my bottle of STEM arrived, there wasn’t much use for it.

I did spray some of it outside to test it out and even sprayed some on a huge hornet at one point. The hornet had been resting on my front porch and once it was sprayed, it went away for good. I like that the STEM spray is safe for use around children.

It smells like lemongrass which I appreciated because I don’t enjoy using products with overpowering smells. As I continued to use my STEM spray, the product had a hard time coming out of the nozzle and started to slowly trickle out which made it ineffective.

I love the idea of an insect repellant that is safe for use around kids and pets but since this one had trouble spraying out, I’m not sure that I would purchase it in the future.

I received this product for free from Influenster and STEM in exchange for my honest review. The first thing I wanna say is this product is safe for kids and pets and is a bug spray that does not have a harsh smell this is an amazing plus.

The next thing about this spray that I like is the lid has a locking mechanism that is a twist lock this is very handy when it comes to having small children around. So now how the spray works in action.

When I went to spray a couple of flies it stop them instantly. They fell and they didn’t die right away but they eventually did after a minute or Two. The spray did leave an oily residue behind that I had to clean up.

Also as a bonus I used this spray to kill a spider now it didn’t kill instantly it took three sprays to soak the spider but it worked and it killed the spider at that moment. My thoughts and reactions to this spray are that I do like this spray I love that it doesn’t have the harsh smell like some bug sprays I don’t like the oily residue that was left behind when I sprayed I love the locking lid and I like how the spray knob is sort of comfortable and smooth and you don’t use a lot of force to spray.

I like how it instantly had some reaction to the bugs like it paralyzed them first before it killed them but it did kill them. I also love the fact that this product is safe for kids and pets so out of a 5 I would say this product is a 4 because of the oily residue.

I keep a good amount of houseplants, and as hard as I try to not overwater, inevitably, I still end up with a few fungus gnats here and there around my plants, even in the winter. I avoid using chemicals to get rid of them normally, but I have to say, this spray is working surprisingly well! I removed my plants from the area first, and then used the STEM spray on the remaining gnats on and around my plant shelf.

They’re not great flyers, so they were pretty easy to spot and spray. It’s been about a week since I treated, and I’ve not seen a fungus gnat since! There’s not much of a scent to this, though I smell something, but I can’t put my finger on it.

It’s not a off-putting scent by any means, and it didn’t linger. There is a slightly oily residue that’s left behind, but it cleaned up pretty easily. Overall, I’m pretty impressed with the results, and can’t wait to try this in our warmer months to combat flies and mosquitos! #GreenThumb.

This stuff is trash. Not what I ordered. I got substituted for this stuff instead. I saturated the area where they were flying into. It foamed up for less than 2 mins. killed a few wasps. But then the stuff defoamed and the bees just kept coming.

I reapplied several times. Using an entire can over a 1 1/2hr time span. I will definitely be getting something else. I had other products that foamed up and stayed put for significantly longer deterring and killing any that entered or exited.

a product that stays put for more than a few seconds is necessary for flying beasties. I usually get Raid or Spectracide. Apparently Hot shot was all they had for now? not super happy.

Unfortunately, when the Texas sun comes out at full blast, so do many annoying creatures such as wasps and hornets. We have tried various brands of wasp killer over the years with some good, as well as some not-so-good, results.

Before using the Hot Shot Wasp and Horner Killer for our most recent wasp invasion, I sat down to carefully read the directions. I learned two recommendations for using Hot Shot that I didn’t realize before: spray the nest in the early evening when the wasps are less active and let the wasp nest stay in place for at least 24 hours before removing so the chemical can also affect any wasps that try to return to the nest.

In addition to following those suggestions, the fact that the jet spray is much longer that many other brands proved to be helpful. My husband also noticed that the trigger is designed to safely spray in one direction only, making sure you are always spraying away from yourself.

The shape of the nozzle also seemed to limit the amount of “blow back spray” that can sometimes occur when using a spray can. We also appreciated that the chemical foam seems to really stick to the area where it is sprayed, with few or no drips.

Overall, we were very pleased with this product and plan to use it again once the hot, wasp-filled days of summer return!.

This product is truly amazing. I live in an area where we get yellow jacket wasps and they are very aggressive and love to taunt you. I stumbled upon a yellow jacket nest right in front of my doorway.

Could you imagine the fear I had walking into my house every day. This hornet spray really works, given that I do have a fear of bugs my husband was in charge Of killing the wasps with the spray. So I clearly stayed far away but close enough to watch my husband do it.

We waited till after the sun set because that’s when bugs are less active and my husband sprayed the nest approximately 8 feet away. We did notice the walls come out we ran inside the house just because we were afraid it was going to attack us.

And we just played the wait GameStop that point. So about 24 hours later we checked for the nurse to see if we saw any active movement and we didn’t but just to be safe we waited 48 hours total to remove the nest completely.

To my husband and my surprise the nest was completely empty when we removed it. So this stuff really works and I am so happy to have this product especially since these hornets and wasps try to take over your environment and create nests wherever they can.

I usually purchase another brand but because this was a double pack for pretty cheap from now on I’ll fork out the extra to make sure I don’t get chased and stung after spraying the wasps. I mistakenly purchased this foam kind which I hate because it requires more of a direct hit since it isn’t a spray ejection.

I was doing my weekly patio clearance of nuisances and pulled back a curtain with a hive. No biggie. I already had the spectracide in my hand and foamed the nest with 3 wasps on them. Two FLEW away and the 3rd one flew towards me and tried to sting me with foam dripping from it! I got away but followed it just to see how long it took for it to die.

It clung to my gutters and fluttered its wings unable to fly but Still very much alive. I sprayed it AGAIN. after falling it did the dying dance for about two more minutes. I can’t use this and take the chance that they’ll be unbothered for long enough to chase me.

Now I’m going to buy my regular brand.

There was a wasp nest in my patio banister post that drove me crazy. Honestly, they caused me to stay inside all summer. The cap to the plastic post was missing before I moved in and they built a decent sized nest.

I was glad I was able to try this product. I put on my raincoat and hat. I also covered my face with a mask and shield. I sprayed the spray random just to see how it came out because preparation! Its kind of foamy, but you wont look like you’re starting a foam party as it liquifies shortly after contact.

So now its go time. I sprayed for about 10 seconds blindly. Despite my “protective” gear, I was not bold enough to spray while looking. I heard lots of buzzing so I went inside and looked out the door.

One made it to the top, but fell back in. There were at least 7 when I looked before spraying. After a few minutes I went to check and there was no buzzing and while most fell to the bottom I did see 2 on the nest that were dead.

So does this work? Yes! Do you need the random gear I wore? Probably not, unless you’re spraying overhead. But in all seriousness it was effective and killed them pretty quickly.

This product is the best I have ever used. It works better then the people I have to pay to come and spray my house. Kills the wasp and hornets on contact. I would and do recommend this to everyone I know.

Great foam wasp killer, it got rid of them and the hive, but i did it very late evening and then again a hour or so later. Really one or two shots would have been enough, but i used almost all of the can.

Once sprayed, anything that gets on the can is very sticky, not that you can do much of anything about it. The packaging came/arrived half opened, but I know that is also not your fault, but something you should know.

Good product and it does do its work very effectively. Have used on several nests, so not sure how much longer it will last.

Came with a bad nozzel, apparently, and a bad experience using this. Only needed to spray about 14 feet, so aimed it at about a 45 degree angle. when i pressed the button, half of the spray hit me in the face and chest and the other half went 5 or 6 feet in front of me.

Threw it in the trash can and got a shower. I will never use this product again!.

Checked around on other sites and ones that I usually use for on-line purchases. the prices seemed high so I searched for another option. I found Max Warehouse and the price was a third of what others wanted.

Great price and the Bengal Wasp spray is all I use since it really knocks down the wasps and not just makes them mad as other sprays do.

For the first time in 30 years of home ownership we had a yellow jacket invasion this year. I have effectively destroyed three different ground nests with this spray! I have tried 6 different types of wasp/hornet sprays and found them all to be lacking, from the clear liquid to the other “foaming” products.

The Ortho home defense spray is thick foam, like shaving cream almost, which sat on the ground and trapped the YJ’s as they tried to reenter or leave. Death from above in my case. I am currently battling an established colony in a ditch bank and need more product! My local distributor has been out for 2 weeks and the YJ’s are returning (I plan to dig this out in the winter).

This product has the knockdown power you need. Stock up if you’re in an area with limited distributors; it goes fast!.

Dressed as if going off to war against the yellow jackets, I did exactly as instructed on the Ortho can. It was easy and the form appeared as if I were a veteran firefighter! But suddenly the YJ’s began coming out from the form, even though I shot it right into the hole.

They began hubbering around the top of the foam instead of dying. The foam soaked into the ground where the YJ’s had built their nest approx 1 week prior to my shoot out. I woke this morning thinking there would be no activity but they are back flying in and out, work as usual.

I used my entire $4 plus can of Ortho Home Defense for hornets & wasp (YJ’s included) and I am no where close to being rid of this very active underground nest. If Ortho would like to come test out their product they are more than welcome! Product failed!.

This works better than anything else I have tried from local stores. It drops wasps and hornets instantly, I mean instantly, you dont have to worry about them flying at you after you spray. It will not kill yellow jackets, you will need something else for those.

Been using for 3 years or so, it is the only spray I use.

Finally found something that will take care of Carpenter Bees and Wasps. I added Bonide to my notes in my phone so I could always remember the name. Went looking for anything that might stop the bees from drilling into my wood found this on the shelf among so many other products that claimed to work, the name Bonide stood out to me.

This Stuff Really Works. Bees stayed away for about 2-3 weeks. when they return I always have Bonide. It’s kind of pricey but it worth it.

I discovered 2 hornets nests in the bushes. One bush was an evergreen. I had initially bought a much cheaper spray from a big box store but read in the instructions to avoid contact with evergreens. I purchased Bonide since there was no such caution in its instructions.

One can of spray was more than enough to kill the hornets in the 2 nests. Applied it about 2 weeks ago and so far the evergreen looks fine.

I went to Home Depot yesterday. The night before I heart 1 little mouse and saw it pop out of a corner of my room where I have some storage boxes. Whole night, no sleep, as it was right next to my bed.

So yesterday I go and bring this spray product, along with “snap and seal” traps to the register. The woman at checkout tells me “you don’t need both, just the spray will work fine” so I trust her. I go to sleep with confidence.

It’s now 6am and I have sensitive hearing. I am woken by the faintest sound of a mouse munching away… under my bed, under my headboard against the wall. Right next to the place I was the mouse the night before.

I can’t see the critter but I can hear it. I SPECIFICALLY sprayed under my bed. I SATURATED the room, to be clear. Had to bring out a fan because the smell was so overwhelming it made my eyes water. When I hear where the noise is coming from I get the trusty can and direct the spray at the source of the noise the best I can.

20 more minutes of the same careless chewing. I basically bombed my whole room and this 1 guy didn’t even care. Going back and getting actual traps. Can’t believe I got talked out of it. Product review 2/5.

Only stars for the fact it smelled more like peppermint than chemicals, since I’m sensitive. Might work for some people. Buy for 1 mouse in my room… couldn’t even hold up.

I purchased the ready to use hand pump bottle for tight areas which is a stream only but no spray. My research came upon the crack and crevice foam with stick attached already as in a WD40. I ordered it online through Ace Hrdware and picked it up.

There was no problem using it. I used the ready to use spray/stream first then used the foam crack/crevice second. If you use the foam crack/crevice please use an abundance of caution which for me was: wear eye protection, disposable gloves, face coverings and wear clothes you would wear to work outside or around the house then wash them afterward.

The foam crack/crevice is in my view serious stuff and should be used with caution. The ready to use tight area stream-only pump bottle is much more safe to use in that it won’t splatter like the foam does.

I baited the little brown “odorous”ants for 8 weeks and got to a point where I couldn’t stand it anymore and used primarily the foam crack/crevice where they were coming in. I layed it on heavy and have only seen 12 dead ants in a week and no live ones.

This is the real deal. the foam crack and crevice can in conjunction with the ready to use spray. The foam crack and crevice is the “work horse for sure!.

We live in a house built in 1850 with a partial dirt cellar floor, so naturally we had some mice but a few years ago there was a rat issue in my neighborhood! I spray this all around my foundation, under deck and front steps.

Inside I spray all along the baseboards, heating ducts under stove and refrigerator, basement and its managed to keep the rodents out. I’ve been using this as a deterrent for four years now and definitely would recommend this product.

If they are already in your house just use heavily once a week and they should leave.

I have used this spray against all types of insects, and it works the best out of them all even more expensive stuff. Now, I have never dealt with termite swarmers getting into any place I have lived in, until I made a major move to a new area and it gets much hotter here where I now live at, versus where I used to, and even though I am under contract for termite control, these pest control people aren’t very trustworthy.

We used a different pesticide on the exterior, caulked up as much as we could both on the exterior and interior of the house, installed warm colored LED bulbs inside of our house (which helps to keep away pests including termites), and I recently went back to buying this insect spray and I make sure to routinely spray it around baseboards, bottom of sinks, bottom of toilets, around bottom of tubs, windowsill, and ever since doing this, me and my family haven’t seen any more pests.

This spray is also good to use directly on a pest if you happen to see one or more pop up unexpectedly too. As, it works as a preventative against pest and an on the spot treatment to kill any pest that may pop up from out of the blue too.

It leaves no lingering odor and doesn’t end up making me cough like so many other insect sprays I have tried in the past. So, do not believe that there is nothing you can don about termite dearness if you see them appear inside of where you live.

Nobody should have to be subjected to having termites drop on hem or their children from the ceilings or crawl out from other spaces, and wait hours for them to finally die. Be proactive and do the things that I recommend and it will definitely give you greater peace for sure.

I am writing this for anybody that’s trying to compare raid to any other brand. OK so let’s be honest a lot of times we come to review looking for answers well I’m here to give you a clear answer. Sometimes the brands that actually work could be more costly than the non-namebrand and we’re trying to decide if it’s worth it to buy the brand name let me tell you it’s definitely worth it.

I have tried all of the different roach sprays out there including this one. Raid is at the top of the list by a long shot. For example I would say hot shot is the next runner-up brand and even that one takes about I would say 20 to 30 seconds for the Roach to actually die which I’m not saying it’s bad but I’m saying if you really have a serious roach problem You want to get rid of them and kill them quickly as possible.

Raid instantly kills on-contact. When it hits the roach it’s like it almost paralyzed it. This is good if you’re trying to kill multiple roaches at once you’re able to spray one, move on and not have to worry about watching to see if it dies or if it crawls away.

I don’t know what’s in the ingredients but they die instantly. I will say if you have a roach problem and you’re using other brands sometimes they can build up a resistance because it’s just not strong enough.

Also raid smell is not over bearing like other brands. It’s also less messy and shoots more on contact than others. Hot shot is super messy and sprays back in your face if you’re spraying more up. If you are undecided this is your answer to buy raid and raid only.

I have really bad asthma and chemical sensitivities. My ant problem was ruining my quality of life. We had them in the living room along the front of the house and they would come in and out of under the baseboard heaters.

I tried every natural remedy possible and nothing worked. I also tried all the different baits and saw that they were just walking over and around the baits. I finally got fed up and chose this spray and I’m so glad I did.

I applied it with a mask on and left the room for 15 minutes like it suggests to and did not have any asthma attacks or reactions. And it’s been 24 hours now and the ants are entirely gone. I will continue to keep using this spray and not waste my time and money on all the other methods anymore.

This stuff is not a joke. Wow, I had a really bad nest in the corner on my porch. It was up in the ceiling area and at first I didn’t even notice how enormous it was. I just would go out and see a ton of hornets/wasps.

I didn’t think to look for a nest just figured they were swarming around. One morning I was cleaning my porch off and that’s when I seen it. Oh my goodness I was so scared. It was HUGE how I missed it still blows my mind.

I looked online for solutions on how to take care of the problem but all the ways seemed dangerous to me. So I ended up trying the Hot Shot Wasp & Hornet Killer. Let me tell you I waited till early morning when it was dewy out, which is when the pesky things are sleeping or whatever they do.

I stood about a foot away maybe further (didn’t measure) I then held the can upright and began spraying, its foamy which is so nice. Because I didn’t have any of the product flying back at me or bouncing off and splashing me.

It goes exactly where you spray it. After saturating the nest I let it be and went about my day. The next morning I went and checked it out and was pleasantly surprised at the job it did. No more wasp/hornets.

I was still scared to touch it so during the day when the hornets would be the worse I went out to see if they were swarming. None, so the final morning day 3 I went out and stood a ways back and knocked it down (Mind you I had a trash bag opened so when it fell it landed on the opening of the trash bag) I then closed the bag and tied it super tight and discarded in my trash can.

I am so thankful for this stuff and really happy it worked. I recommend to anyone with nesting issues. You will not be disappointed!.

I’m keen on protecting wildlife, no matter how small. The humble, hardworking honeybee should be cherished and kept safe. Without them, we wouldn’t have a lot of food crops and other plants. So when I noticed a bee-like creature flying around our car, and my husband swatted at it with his hands, I cried out for him to stop.

Then he said “It’s a wasp, not a bee!” I said “It probably likes its life as much as anything else. ” He added, “But they destroy bee hives and kill bees!” That immediately changed my mind. I ran into the garage and found the can of Hot Shot wasp killer, and decided to try out my sharp shooting skills.

This can claims to shoot up to 27 feet, which would be great if there’s a wasp nest high in a tree or on a house. In my case, I only needed it to shoot about 12 feet. Knocked the wasp out of the sky, and when it hit the ground I soaked it.

Seemed to be an instant kill. Then my husband and I went around the house looking for the wasp’s home. This time, I had my husband try his skills. This killed the nasty bug quickly and trashed the nest with the force of its spray.

Great product!.

Wasp Freeze has been consistently the best long-distance spray. It will usually knock-down the wasps and hornets, including Yellow Jackets, upon contact. It has a strong spray and has never failed to spray, like many other products.

The only problem with Wasp Freeze is the price. It is very expensive compared to other brands and probably out of reach for many consumers. We have found the best value is to buy either 6 or 12 cans at a time.

Having a potentially fatal reaction to wasp and hornet stings, this product has provided the confidence to attack hives that are on or near the house without calling-in a pro. We highly recommend Wasp Freeze for wasp and hornet control.

I get this stuff every summer to handle all the wasps nest that go up around my barn & house. Because Ive gotten stung one too many times and its not fun! This stuff works amazing and kills them on contact!!.

I had a few wasp nests creep up around my house. The usual swatting them with a broom wasn’t cutting it anymore because they’d set up shop again and again. Very satisfied with product and price as well as results that came with it.

Wasp Freeze took out those wasps in one shot. Also the delivery was really fast and came just in time to handle those stingers. I won’t even bother with other products.

I found this product to be very effective. A roof repair worker was allergic to bee/wasp stings so I needed a spray that would kill insects right away. It worked like a charm and well worth the cost.

I purchased as I’m deathly allergic to wasp bites. I used it on a few wasps by my front door, and it worked in a few minutes. Recently my neighbor alerted me to the fact that yellow jackets had nested in the front of my house.
