20 Best Yellow Jacket Traps (2022 Updated)

I like how easy it was to set up and install out on my back porch. I find a lot of paper wasps trapped in between my screen door and patio door searching for a place to make a nest. I live in southern Colorado and it might be too cold still as I haven’t yet been able to catch any wasps.

However this device included very simple and straightforward instructions and I like that because sometimes I can over think things and the instructions made it fool proof. The plastic cap was easy to screw on and off, which is nice because I think it will benefit an older population if they don’t have a lot of hand strength.

The plastic used to make this device appears durable, which makes sense because it’s a reusable device. I used scissors to open the pouch to the attractant and again, it was pretty easy to set up and place in my backyard.

The directions state to hang in an area where there is a nest, but as I mentioned before, it may still be too cold for wasp activity, but I’ll be ready for them when they arrive.

Living in central Texas, we have a lot of insects in the backyard. It’s difficult to tell the difference between stinging insects and Rescue makes it easy to identify yellowjackets vs paper wasps. It picked this up in case we had any stray yellowjackets living around the yard.

The reusable trap comes with a packet of attractant that you’re supposed to pour onto a cotton ball. I tried this method first and found it such a mess and a hassle. I got attractant everywhere and had to carefully clean it up so as to not attract any yellowjackets into the house.

So I scrapped that option and opted for the 10-week attractant cartridge instead. I wish I had used the 10-week cartridge in the first place because it was so much easier to install and there was no mess at all.

I am preparing my yard for warmer weather and yellow jacket season, so this yellow jacket trap is a necessity. Last year we had one group of yellow jackets build a nest in the stucco siding of our house and another group built one under some garden beds in our yard.

It is such a pain to have an exterminator come out and take care of the problem. Well, not this year. We are ready for them with our reusable trap. It includes attractant that lures them in and they become trapped after flying inside.

The carcasses really start to pile up, too! I like that it’s reusable for many seasons, and it is durable as well. Overall, I’m happy with this trap for keeping the swarms away this summer.

My first time with yellow jacket trap and lure. We had called an exterminator to get the immediate danger under control. Our nest site was in soffit on our garage where the power came down to the meter.

The exterminator got the biggest portion of the yellow jackets with a white powder spray that got all the moving jackets. A week later one or two emerge and are dyeing, they were falling on to a white range top we had underneath.

The trap is about 9 feet away on the fence and gets one or two everyday, to let us know they are still around. I haven’t found the new nest yet. but the lure is working. The weather here is rainy and cloudy since the exterminator did his thing.

When I rebaited the trap with this lure, the old cotton ball that had the original attractant had been removed , I’m guessing by the yellow jackets that went in to the lure area but didn’t go up into the trap area.

I used this in a Rescue brand wasp trap- WOW! I used just one tube to bait 3 traps and the yellow jackets are in a damn FRENZY! This is incredible value compared to buying a Rescue brand attractant refill.

18 tubes! This has been a horrible year for yellow jackets and I want them gone!.

This stuff works perfect. I have tried all of the Home Remedies and Brands. I’m sticking to these.

I thought the advertising was deceptive. The item is identified as “traps” and shown as two traps, but the item is actually one trap. I wanted to get two and was surprised when I received only one. Haven’t used it yet, so can’t rate.

I have used the plastic traps from Tractor supply with great results but they are not the prettiest things to look at. So when I came across these I thought I would give it a try. I have had it out for a week now with sprite in it and not a single fly or wasp.

I have tried three different spots on the front porch with no luck. Right now it is hanging within a foot of a yellow jacket nest and no yellow jackets in my trap. Cool to look at but worthless if you want to catch anything.

Response By: Garrett Wade Tech Department Thank you for your review on the Victorian Wasp Traps. We’re sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with them. We spoke to our technician and he has suggested a mixture of vinegar, salt, and sugar water.

This will attract the wasps, but not the bees. You may also try different mixtures of honey and water. We found that this works quite well in capturing wasps.

We have had these for years, and even would take them with us to get togethers and picnics in the fall, when the yellow jackets were getting nasty. Now that I read the directions, I find that if you put them out in the spring before yellow jackets are visible, you may catch the queen and prevent the entire hive.

We will certain start earlier next year.

Stores sell these but didn’t like them. I bought 2 of these. They work great. Didn’t put anything in them except juice. In 3 days caught several wasps & bees.

I had bought these wasp traps the first of the summer. Just recently the wasp were taking over my hummingbird feeders and I decided to put the 2 I had bought out. I know I have trapped at least 1000.

They had started chasing my dogs when I would let them out. These were working so well I decided to order 3 more. In the mean time I hope I find their home to put the dust in. They have worked so well.

I do recommend if you are having a big problem to order more than 2 and use hummingbird solution instead of water and sugar. I did add the cat food.

It doesn’t really work. After 3 traps, I hired a professional and the wasps are gone. I bought 2 disposable ones and a reusable one. A professional is more expensive but it is better than a 0% success rate.

I thought maybe the QA/QC wasn’t great for the lures, and it might have been a batch problem. I bought these at separate Canadian Tires and all 3 failed. Perhaps all the lots that were shipped to the Victoria/CRD Canadian Tire locations were bad.

If you look at the reviews, they are either 5 stars or 1 star. Nothing in the middle, which means the product either works or doesn’t and I think that’s a quality control issue from the manufacturer.

Bought 2 units a couple of days ago and installed precisely as instructed. After 3 days now , one unit has captured 3 wasps, and the second has 5 only!!! This in spite that there are many wasps swarming around our patios in close proximity to these units.

No revolution here and a waste of money, and does not perform as promised. The product in the bag does not appear to dissolve properly and maybe this is why this product does not work. I will be placing back my old plastic wasp traps with a cola solution inside!.

I placed the trap as instructed but after an hour I was sure its not working. I had another trap (different brand) which I placed next to it and started to see it working. I was disappointed but said let’s give it time.

The next day I saw this trap was FULL of wasps&yellow jackets (I know it only says yellow jackets but it works). 3 days later I can still see it is working. If I compare to the other brand this one has 3 times as many “prisoners” inside.

Worth the money.

Installed into a number of large plastic bottles. About half way up and two or more sides depending on seize of bottle. Filled up bottom of bottle with sugar water and screwed lid on. After first day sugar water was so full of yellow jackets we had to empty wasp/sugar water and fill with fresh sugar water.

Really protected my bee hives Photo is after about 5 refills.

Awesome product! I can’t stand any kind of bee getting in the house! I put one of these near my hummingbird feeders, and draw them away from the feeders, and also from our doors! Easy to clean, use, and easy recipe when it is time to replace! So happy I found these! The blue fly ones work great next door near the horses too!.

We tried the Fatal Funnels for the first time last summer and were very impressed with their effectiveness and ease of use. Highly recommend.

Put this stuff in inside, the yellow jackets will not leave you alone.

I have had multiple of these traps and I couldn’t believe how many wasps it caught! Its such an efficent trap I would recomment it to anyone!

The Non-Toxic Wasp Trap Replacement Lures have been effective in our efforts to control wasps around a pond in our back yard and in our wine grape vineyard. Each Spring and Summer we get many wasp nests on and near our home.

This product is a real help.

It’s ok not great only trapped 1 bee. Maybe not not in perfect location.

I’ve had several big nests of yellowjackets, and they are super aggressive. I used this to take the nests out and it worked like a charm. Some things that will ensure success: 1. Go out after dark; wear a headlamp or have someone carry a flashlight.

The yellowjackets will be asleep and won’t come flying out. 2. Insert the long straw nozzle far into the nest hole. You can’t get the same results if you are spraying too close to the surface. 3. Use the entire bottle if possible.

This ensures that the nest is taken out; some nests are huge! I can’t give this five stars because anything that’s growing around the nest area will be affected by the poison. So if the nest is near vegetable gardens or fruit trees, be prepared for it to have negative affects.

This stuff killed my peace tree that had a yellowjacket nest right at the base. I’m an organic gardener and really would rather not use chemicals like this, but yellowjackets are JERKS.

This product does not work!! After finding a carpenter bee, we went and bought 3 cans of this immediately. We found the nest and used as directed, directly into the hole. We did this several nights in a row and it did nothing and they drilled 2 more holes.

With all the positive reviews we threw away the receipt and everything, otherwise We would be requesting a full refund. I will be throwing away the leftover product. What a waste of money!!.

I moved into my family home last year after both parents had passed. They built the house in 1967. Carpenter Bees have been “nesting and feeding” on this house for YEARS. I aways heard that you could never kill them.

I purchased several cans of the Spectracide, it truly helped, for this year. There is so much damage, but I plan to stay on top of it ! I like the product and with the straw included, it is easy to spray in the holes.

I was hoping the attractant would help us to use our open-air patio more, since, anytime we’d bring out the food, out would came three or four hornets. Once I put up the W. H. Y. trap and used one of the attractant packs in the lower section, by the next day, I had captured seven larger hornets.

The next few days, I captured 9 more, then 6, then 8, but they were getting smaller and smaller in size — I assumed that meant I was getting their numbers down. We are able to use our patio, sit in almost total bliss and enjoy food on the patio — a first in literally years.

I just have to make sure I “reload” the trap every two weeks with a new packet. This stuff works great. This is also the best price I could find and I now have enough to finish out the year, which in Minnesota, comes quick, usually around the end of October for us before freezing temps.

Gotta go now. heading out for lunch on the patio.

When used in the original Rescue yellow jacket catchers this attractant works like crazy. catches hundreds of yellow jackets in a few days. It has really done wonders to keep the yellow jacket population down, which was impossible before.

Eliminated pesky yellow jackets after using for a few years. Does not trap any other bees, only yellow jackets. Especially important to trap and kill queens during April and May. No queens means no pesky workers later in summer.
