20 Best Yerba Mate Gourd (2022 Updated)

Really nice loose Yerba. Not so bitter as I think the flavour cuts it out a bit. The Yerba definitely come through strong. The tropical is very very mellow so if your looking for a strong tropical flavour maybe mix with some juice because this won’t do it on it’s own.

Great product would definitely buy again.

This “yerba” brewed “without steams” is really generous when it is used to brew mate. Its flavor is intense thanks to the fine, exact grinding of the leaf. For me, it has always been, from my native Argentina, one of the best “yerbamate” I have ever tasted.

Delicate flavour and rather dusty, more than others I’ve used. It has a 2020 best by date. Apparently that’s no problem as mate doesn’t go stale, according to my Argentinian friend who I’m sharing the packet with.

I’ve been drinking this for several months now as I cut out coffee. However i ran out about a week ago so switched back to coffee until I could find Yerba mate again. Let me tell you it was very apparent the difference between the energy levels/mood.

I couldn’t wait to buy more of this. Whatever is in Yerba mate makes me so happy and energized and it lasts throughout the day. Coffee is a burst of energy then a sudden crash. And other energy drinks make me feel like I have all this energy bottled up which causes anxiety.

This stuff is the best. Revel Berry and orange are the best flavors in my opinion, but the blue berry one is decent, mint is subtle, and the tropical one is okay but obviously less sweet so it’s more bitter.

But really Can’t go wrong with any of them and if you haven’t tried it I highly recommend.

I love drinking yerbamate drinks because they’re clean and gives me energy. Especially since I start work at 6am and I’m there for 8-10 hours. These drinks give me the energy without the jittery feeling compared to when drinking a monster or coffee.

However, I wouldn’t get this flavor again just cause it’s such a strong mint taste. I thought it would be a hint of mint, but it was so strong it felt like I was drinking gum):

I absolutely love drinking this every single morning and have been almost daily for over 10 years. It just tastes divine and I love how I don’t ever crash hard but sometimes experience a gradual increase of energy.

I love where this product comes from as well. It always tastes refreshing especially when ice cold! A nice mix of green tea, honey, lemon mint!.

Loose leaf mate is the absolute way to go. Although you only get 80 mg of caffeine per 8oz imagine drinking just 16oz you get 160mg just like the cans but you don’t get all of the nasty sugar! The taste is super mild just like a green tea but it’s soooooo good w/ almond milk honey!! I like it hot too esp.

if you love somewhere that gets cold! It also saves sooo much money a can of yerb is 2. 50-3. 75$ depending on where you live and a bag of this mate is only 10-12$ for a bag that lasts almost a month! It’s also a super good natural appetite suppressant.

I believe in mate over coffee too.

I got this for my daughter for Christmas. It arrived very quickly and is exactly as it is described. I didn’t realize how small it would be, but maybe that’s a thing for drinking Yerba tea. It’s cute, absolutely a real gourd and if I drank Yerba tea then I would definitely use it.

It would have been nice if it came with instructions for what to do prior to use, cleaning, care (since it is a real gourd and is therefore somewhat fragile) and the best place to store it so it doesn’t dry out or mold, etc.

I’m sure my daughter will already have been enlightened on the protocol for use, but for a novice as me, I would definitely have to do some research before I used it. Again, it is a sweet little cup and would make drinking Yerba tea an even nicer ritual.

The bombilla is nice, too, and will add to a nice touch to tea drinking.

I am happy to have it, for 17 is was cheaper than any I’ve had before. It wasnt as pretty as the pictured gourd, but every one varies. It’s my 1st without metal on the rim and or base of the gourd, I also had to pull out some dried gourd insides, but it doesnt hold much and tends to tip over.

The bombilla (tea straw) works well, overall I’m happy wi4h the product.

The gourd was quite small. My main issue was that the gourd and the base separated after only three uses. It was very light tin used around the base and neck and it just seemed cheaply made. I would not recommend purchasing this item – if you do, just make sure you check the measurements first to ensure that you are aware of the actual size of the item.

I am new to the world of yerba mate and have to say “La Merced de Campo” makes me enjoy the flavour. The smell is incredible. My body really asks for yerba mate everyday now. The service is impecable.

I really like the taste of this one. The smoked taste really suits this yerba, and really makes it stand out. It has quite a bit of stems and low dust (I haven’t had any dust so far, so it must still be at the bottom of the bag).

Personal note: I didn’t like the taste of this from a palo santo cup. The flavours seemed to get too muddled.

A lovely taste that has a great undertone of smoky bbq goodness. A bit pricey, but is a great mate to drink. This is my number one mate for camping around a fire or bbq’s or those long summer nights.

I actually like the smoky taste in a terere with apple juice which to me it seems to compliment nicely together as an alternative to the regular warm water. It is very much a ‘gourmet’ mate somewhat strong, but not too smoky that it overbears, I actually would love to have a bit more smokiness, but perhaps its because I’m a bbq/smoked meat lover.

Products are good looking and nice quality. Here are the things I would improve. They are still good enough 🙂 I had a problem with 1 gourd. It came cracked. At the same time it was too tall with narrow opening.

The second one is smaller and more useful. The bombilla is not very useful. It has too many openings and drinking is harder than it could be.

The only problem is that the product is slightly smaller than I imagined….maybe 6 oz. versus the imagined 8-10oz.

I like this much more than tea or coffee. The flavour is much more agreeable, much milder with an almost herbal taste, and the caffeine content is balanced and effective. If you’ve never understood tea or coffee, give yerba mate a go – it’s got the best of each.

Smells lovely, taste is strong so you have to get used to it first, but it’s good. Recommended

I love it. I was worried because some branches broke because it slid around in the box. Maybe you can staple the bucket to the bottoms of the box for next time. Then the branch won’t break. May I have a pomegranate and olive tree.

So far, so good! Transplanted well, and is showing new growth. Also, yum.

Taragui Roja is a nice Yerba, it does not block the bombilla and the taste is very nice. Whilst definitely a little stronger than Rosamonte the little drawback is that it washes out quite quickly-strong Yerba like Pajarito washes with around 3 litres of water whilst this looses the magic taste after about 1.

5 which is still good. Perhaps this is just a personal thing because after finishing a 1kg pack of Pajarito which is much much stronger I got accustomed to a strong tasting Yerba. It’s not very dusty which for some people is a good thing although I know UruShop now offers a low-dust content Taragui but this one is not a power either.

I give it a very high 4 almost 5 :).

I bought this kit after hearing of the benefits of consuming yerba mate in huberman podcast on dopamine. Brilliant kit with everything you need to get started. My top tips are watch some YouTube videos on how to prepare Mate and only fill cup to half way up the round part so you can get more liquid in.

Also I’ve since discovered the could be done danger to consuming smoked mate and also drinking at high temperatures so maybe avoid these two factors for added health. A great kit in short, has me hooked!.

Received this today, only took a few days to arrive. The mate cup and bombilla are really great quality and the yerba is very nice. I have been around mate all my life, and moving to the UK I missed it and this was one of the best deals I found online that included everything I would need to make a mate every now and then.

Really great package for the casual mate drinker! Glass is easy to clean too. The package is nicely presented so it would also make a really nice gift to someone new to the mate game!.

28 Nov 20 communiTEA review: Wow! Two herbals in a row! Ive had this on the shelf for quite sometime and was thrilled to have it as communiTEA selection. My previous 27 July 20 review, below, still applies.

Nice earthy Pu-erh-like straw tastes were noted first off in the cup. After that, camphor/minty flavors and mildly bitter, and slightly astringent smokey pipe tobacco tastes were noted. these hung around in my mouth for quite some time.

The process repeats itself with every sip. This one is a multi-steeper, at least four! Every steep provides a different flavor, too! Thats what makes mate so interesting. Mate is an acquired taste to be sipped, not glugged.

Love It!! Steps I used to prepare a 12 oz cup of mate in my steeper: 1 – Add two teaspoons of mate. 2 – Add 2 Tablespoons of cool steeping water on top of the mate to prepare it for the forthcoming hot water.

3 – Add enough 160F steep water on top of the cool water, for a 12 oz total. This will bring the temperature down to the 150F goal. 4 – 1st steep for 5 minutes, subsequent steeps for 3 minutes. 5 – Indulge!.

Grass and dried leaf scents drifted out of today’s packet like an autumn breeze. A quick bath in a tablespoon of 165F water wetted the yerba mat leaves down enough to start soaking into the edges. I added the rest of the water at around 160F to the gourd and steeped for at least 5 minutes until the metal bombilla straw was cool enough to sip from.

Straw and dry leaf flavors are prominent amidst an earthy bed of terpenes. The flavor is unique yet familiar. There are glimmers of eucalyptus, lemon, thyme, and pine all dispersing as brief hints of flavor into something completely different.

A novel form of grassiness is present while remaining subtly different than green tea. Unroasted yerba mat is still one o my favorite alternatives to coffee for that early morning boost without the jitters or stomach impacts that the roasted ‘bean tea’ is known to cause.

The unique autumnal leaf flavors of mat keep me going back for a second and third steep.

This is my first time trying yerba mate (not in a blend ) and I enjoyed it. It’s slightly earthy taste and smooth texture made it an easy sip and I liked its non astringency. It brewed pale yellow with an aroma and appearance similar to that of a green tea.

Chilled, it has a gentle smoky flavor that came forward more with the cold. I liked it best sweetened and appreciated its energetic boost after sipping several cups. It resteeps well too. My CT packet had 3 g/ 2 tsp of sage green chopped leaves.

I awakened the mate first with 2 tbsp. of cool water for 15 seconds then poured 160F water over the cooled leaves for a 5 min. steep at 150F. The next few resteeps didnt need as much time to brew. This pleasant tasting tea would be a very good alternative to a morning cup of joe.

I am in love with this product. Thank you so much. Its everything I could ask for. It definitely gives you energy to get you through the day. No more coffee! Im sure with due time and daily intake. I will be shedding some unwanted weight.

I ordered this yerba mate after speaking with one of the mate factor organic product people who sell their product for about 50% more. As I am on a limited income and drink mate instead of coffee usually, I tried a pound sample and was generally happy with it.

Considering all the interest in quality health products it would be great if the quality products were readily available for all. Coffee has zero nutrients and probably only benefits the health due to its being a bitter antioxidant product and a hot beverage.

I try to use the right temperature between 165 -175 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, FYI, it is recommended that you soak the Mate in cold water before adding hot water. Both these methods bring out the flavor and make it more nutritious.

Superb quality. Amazing handcrafted gourd. The best way to enjoy a good flavoursome mate. Over time and constant use gourd adquires from the Ilex paraguariensis its characteristic smokey flavour.
