20 Best Zero Turn Tires (2022 Updated)

Carlile tire is identical to the original Sears Turf Saver tire that came on the rider. It’s a heavy duty tire with lots of tread. I highly recommend it. It shipped the same day I ordered it. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars? Because I was surprised to find out it’s made in China.

But it seems as good as as an American made tire. If the other front tire needs replacement, I’ll definitely order another one of these.

Replacement rear tires for 1999 MTD lawn tractor of the same tire size. Old tires were cracking on the side and loosing air. Used tubes for a while until one of the tubes started leaking. Put new valve stems in and mounted new tires without tubes.

Holds air and has good traction. Took some work and tricks to remove and replace the tires and seat the beads on the wheels.

Tires arrived quickly in good shape (not squished) at a good price. This was an experiment to see if more narrow tires (9. 5″) would work better than the very wide original tires (12. 5″ wide) on a Ferris ISX-2200 zero-turn, which were also TurfMasters.

I failed (tried hard) to get these tires to seat on the original wide rims (pounding square peg into round hole), so I gave in and got a set of inexpensive 7″ rims (as recommended by Carlisle) steel ATV wheels from ITP.

End result is better grip (less skidding when turning on mild hills), noticeably easier turning (handles like a sports car!), and less turf tear-up. Success!.

Last year I bought a replacement tire of the same brand that came with my lawn tractor. It didn’t last even a year. For a “direct” replacement, it fit bad and used very cheap plastic bushings. The fittings for greasing it were cheap quality plastic.

It was garbage. From day-one, it felt like it would fall apart. During the off-season, it lost all its air and the rubber dried up. This year I bought the flat-free tire. It was only a little more money than the last replacement but this is excellent quality.

Instead of plastic ill-fitting bushings, I got precision steel bearings and it fit perfectly. The grease fittings are steel and are much more accessible. Now that I’ve tried one, I’ll buy another for the other side of the lawn tractor.

Perfect Fit for my Craftsman. Easy to install — virtually no tools required. One tire’s grease zerk came loose but was easy to reattach. Great price on Zoro. Not having to inflate front tires ever again? — priceless!.

The tire itself is great. The problem is that on one of the tires the zerk grease fitting was installed improperly, the hole for the fitting was elongated. Once I fixed that by taping the whole and installing a larger fitting all is ok.

It was an exact match to the rear tires on my 15 year old riding mower. I have already replaced one of the tires. The installation was successful. The only difficult part was to get the tire to fill once it had been placed on the rim.

The whole process was a learning experience for me, but the internet really helped to describe how to do the job. The whole process took me about 40 minutes.

Awesome tires! I mounted them on my zero turn mower for better traction in wet conditions and cutting the roadside ditch bank in my front yard. I mounted them myself at home with hand tools. Nothing fancy, just a couple of pry bars and a hammer.

But I do have a fair amount of experience mounting tires, so it may not be that simple for those with no experience. For instance, I know to put tires in the sun for a while before mounting that way, the heat softens the rubber, making it easier to mount the tire.

Anyway, I had minimum trouble seating the bead and once seated they held air well. Two days later I mowed my yard and ditch with no trouble. The only thing is you have to be careful about how you turn.

Turning fast and sharp you will pull up some grass, but my turf tires did the same thing from time to time, just not as often or as bad. Knowing this and adjusting how I turned, I hand minimal trouble with that issue.

The lugs are deep, far apart, spaced in a manner where the tire should clean out well in wet soil and deliver good traction. So far, Im very satisfied.

Received tires 1 day ahead of schedule. Had tires mounted at a tire shop for $40 total. Didn’t realize I could have taken to Walmart. Set of tires was wrapped together—didn’t realize I was given wrong size front tires with different threads (13×6-6 vs 15×6-6) until I was putting tires back on tractor.

Haven’t tried out yet, but hoping it won’t be a problem. Disappointed that I didn’t verify front tire size upon arrival—only verified rear and assumed it was set that I ordered.

My husband and I ordered a set of 4 lawn mower tires. Already put them on and they look really good. Are sturdy turf tires. are 4 ply tires. My husband was really pleased with the quality. Also the great price as a set and your prompt delivery.

they might be fine tires, but I will never know. had to return them because they were defective. the tire shop didn’t even try to mount them on the rims – said it was impossible. the center of the tread was inverted, so when you look at the tires edgeways they looked like a pulley.

inverted and squished flat from improper packing. the only way the tires could possibly have been used was to put innertubes in them. poor quality control to let something so obvious out the door.

Tires arrived without damage. I mounted and seated the bead pretty easily using a HF mini tire changer. I am impressed with the quality having 6 plys at this price, and they look very similiar to the tires that were on my New Holland TZ25 that are a different brand, so I believe they are manufactured by the same company/plant and sold under multiply names (some costing a lot more then these).

Have been mounted for about a week and have not lost air. Pleased for the price and quality and am only giving 4 stars because I am not sure about the longevity. Would purchase again if they last a good long while.

This is a 6-ply rated tire which provides a deep tread and a robust carcass. It’s not the ‘run-of-the-mill’ lawnmower tire. This is an honest to goodness load carrying tire. There’s just no comparison to the cheaper built “Carlisle” types.

good tread depth. 8 ply rating versus 4 ply for original, a slightly stiffer ride. diameter of tire is slightly smaller than the original tires, therefore rear of mower is a little lower making it necessary to level the mower deck.

also making it necessary to replace both rear tires to keep mower level side to side. quality looks to be good, only time will tell if they last and wear good.

Received a set of 24x12x12 6 Ply D838 Turf Master Lawn Mower tires for my John Deere GT245; tires were great, very good traction, this is a fairly heavy Lawn Mower at approximately 750-775 lbs, including mower; these tires improve the mowing capability by maintaining a very smooth cut lawn! These are great tires for the money, do not hesitate to purchase; this is a purchase you will not regret.

Tires have heavy sidewalks and a good looking deep tread design. They mounted easily and sealed on the rims easily. Since it is winter here I have no grass to mow. Quite satisfied at this point. Will update as they are put into service.

They do have a rather pungent smell of fresh Chinese rubber but we will. See how they perform. Warranty is also a plus.

Fast delivery. Nice tread. Heavy with potential for long life. It is a lawn mower, I really did not have any expectations other than having them fit , hold air, and allow me to cut grass.

These quality tires work very well for my Honda 5518 Tractor. The original tires that came on this tractor had plenty of trend left, but the sidewalls after 30 years finally had a number of cracks where slow leaks had developed.

Founds these tires that would work on EBay and am familiar with the Carlisle brand as I have used them on other trailers that I have owned over the years.

For several months I have not been pleased with the appearance of my yard after mowing. The uneven cut of my mower was apparently caused by improper air pressure in tires and/or the flexibility of the tires.

I plugged the old tires several times and put fix-a-flat in the tires but I finally had to give up and bought Carlyle tires. I cannot vouch for their endurance or ability to withstand punctures from various hazards because of the short time I have used them.

The immediate effect of the tires was a much more even appearance to the grass and they are holding a constant air pressure. These tires are a little more expensive than the other brand that I purchase last year but they have proven their worth to me.

I really thought that tires wouldn’t make much difference in my mower’s performance.

Carlisle tires are true to size and are very durable. Choice of professional landscapers as well as OEM’s. I’ve tried the “others” but will buy Carlisle brand when I need lawn or trailer tires.

Carlisle in my opinion is the best tire you can buy for lawn mowers and other outdoor equipment. I have a 1985 Wheel Horse lawn tractor that still has the original Carlisle tires on it and they are still running tubless.

I bought these smooth tires for my Zero turn mower.

I first mounted these similar to what a tractor tire would be mounted, with v shape towards front, but Im using them for a zero turn. I realized I did not need forward traction, but lost traction when stopping and reversing.

I reversed these tires and they work really well now. The V shape of the tread points toward rear of mower now.

Good traction without tearing up my lawn like my R4 tires. Only used them once and the mud that stuck in my R4 tires is not as bad. Some stays in but it seems to clean itself out as you drive around when mowing.

Also seems to be a lot better when steering my tractor. It doesnt plow like the R4 tires. So far like them a lot.

Very nice tires. Fit perfectly. Tested on grass and no tear up if you don’t drag one tire in a zero turn. But even R3s will do that sometimes.

Should have bought this a long time ago. Kept patching existing tire but always a slow leak. This was at my door within a couple of days. Tire shop mounted it for $11 lol

I bought 2 of these for the 3 point hitch 72″ mower I use behind my tractor. I tried tires I bought online and a tire blew every time I mowed. I then bought tires at the local tractor supply and I got 3 or 4 mowings before they blew, developed bulges or had bead failures.

I’ve always had good luck with Carlisle tires so I bought 2 and they worked well. I bought these 2 so the mower deck will have a complete set. They are harder to mount on the rim since they are more substantial but I feel like my tire failure issues are solved with these tires.

I purchased the tire which appeared to be new condition. I took it to the tire shop and had it mounted. Unfortunately, the tire had a hole in the tred so I lost half of my day (time and money) and still had no functionality tire for my mower.

Instead of repeating the same extremely frustrating step I choose to purchase the new tire from the tire shop. I returned the tire with the hole in it back to the store just hours after the initial purchase and the staff was empathetic and gave me no problems with the return but I lost out on the time and money I spent with the tire shop.

I needed two tractor tires. Bought 2 and had to return them- wrong size. Bought one to try to see the fit- wrong size again. What can I say, I’m from Brooklyn trying to live in the country. TS was amazing each time.

Tires are good quality. Do need to have them put on at a tire store because they are very stiff and bound together when you get them. The tires are 12-1/2 inches wide but the tread is only 10 inches wide.

Overall a good tire and nice and flat to the ground with 10. 5 inch wide rims.

It is a great alternative to over-priced dealer no flat tires. With only a few well placed spacers you can have the ease and non aggravation of leaking tires from the now default tires Hustler puts on their mowers.

Don’t get me wrong, I would not choose any other Zero turn over Hustler as it is the best I’ve ever used, however, for what you pay for this mower, they could stick with the good tires by Carlisle or an equivalent brand.

There’s over a hundred difference between the cost of these Marathon tires and the ones the dealer offers. The only difference is the center stem of the hub is a perfect fit with bearings. Whereas, the Marathon tires require some spacers, although provided I had to improvise and procure some other aftermarket spacers to finish the job of replacing these tires on my mower.

They worked great! I’d do it again when these wear out as the cost is phenomenally cheaper for the same objective and purpose. The only issue I would ask the Marathon company to address is that the manufacture of these tires need to add more spacers to the original setup to ensure that the availability of spacers (also in different thicknesses) spacers to fit more variety of mowers fork widths.

I Had a 2 inch gap to fill as the rim width/hub was only 5 inches. It would’ve been great to have had bearings to fit this as well. But all in all, it was a great and more cost effective alternative to the Hustler ($165.

You will need to tap the lip bearings out and grind the hub down about 1/4 inch on each side, file the minimal excess metal out of cavity, then tap the bearings back in. It will fit the 50 RZT then and do very well.

I would rate it higher if installation did not require tools and skills that some people might not have available. Otherwise, the wheels look like they will last for many years.

The price is right but this is a sleeve bearing version. If you want the tapered roller bearing version pay the extra money to get it. Otherwise fits just fine and performs fine but will not give long term life on a tough application.

The tires, though supposedly within the 11×4. 00-5 spec, where slightly larger than the factory original pneumatic tires. This was on a Toro Timecutter 4216. This by itself would not have been a problem, but the rubber tire itself has a little bit of wobble, which caused it to rub against the mounting bracket on every revolution.

One of them was rubbing enough that I found it necessary to shave off the molded lettering on the sidewall. The very slight rubbing after that does not seem to cause any issues during use. I love not having to think about tire pressure ever again! Without the slight wobble, these would have been 5 stars for sure.

I also machined down the widest spacers to fit the brackets, but that is to be expected and did not at all contribute to the slightly lower rating.

Came with no inner bearing. Even though they have grease zerts installed Tried swapping in the old bearings and don’t fit hub size. Will have to order in new ones.

Bought the for my zero turn, kept having a flat on the factory tire, came with everything I needed to install, very pleased with these tires, great value with rim included.

The item description states the wheels include “ball bearings. ” However, they arrived with a steel bushing instead of bearings and no grease fitting to keep this lubricated. I gave a one star rating because the return was fairly painless.

These are good tires, good price, 4 ply so are thicker and more robust than my original tires. Two things I noted: 1) Although they are the exact same size as my originals (23×9. 50-12), they were about 1 inch narrower.

They measured 8-1/2″ wide vs my original 9-1/2″ wide. (even after aired up to expand the tires). 2) Because they are thicker and stiffer, they were very tough to get them to seat to the bead and air up.

Tried like the U-Tube videos using starting fluid to blow them up. This did not work because even if we put a lot of fluid in, when you lit it, the gaps between the bead and the wheel were large enough that it would not explode, just burn for a longer period of time.

What finally worked was that after the tire gets warm from burning the starting fluid, push one bead (one side of the tire) down hard on the steel wheel. It would then stay there when it cooled a little.

(when the rubber tire gets warm, it expands, then fits down on the steel bead, when cools, it shrinks back. ) Then put your knee in the center of the steel wheel and push while you pull the outside of the tire with your arms.

The bead that is stuck to the steel wheel stays put, and you pull the tire over so the other bead gets close and touches the steel wheel to seal and someone else can air it up. Remove the valve stem as this allows for fast inflation.

It took about 3 hrs on the first tire, about 20 mins on the second tire after we learned what works. (I wanted to use a fire cracker, because I knew it would explode. But we did not have any ) 🙂 Bottom Line, I would use these again, and would recommend them.

I purchased these tires for my Badboy mower. I often mow on small hills and uneven terrain. The stock tires just wouldn’t hold like they should and I seen these listed for a fair price. Reviews weren’t bad and I figured for $90 I’d give it a shot.

Wow was I wrong, these tires will spin on dry pavement. These tires are absolutely the worst tires I have ever owned. So please be aware these are not what you think. They are terrible tires.

Good value and though I haven’t installed it yet, it seems to be good quality. Delivery was quick. I like that it is not “pinched” together at the bead so it should be easy to seat the tire when inflating it.

I bought this tire to go on the wagon I pull behind my garden tractor. I chose this tire because it was low cost and it is a 4 ply tire. Many of the similar tires on Ebay are 2 ply and don’t have as high a weight rating.

(620lbs) I would not hesitate to recommend these tires and will buy another one in the future. It was not to hard to install, leave the wheel on the wagon until you get the tire broke free from the wheel and also spray some soapy solution on it for lube.
