I love this because it does not have a chunky handle. Its all microplane sharpness and takes up minimal drawer space. It comes with a plastic cover that keeps you safe while its in the drawer. It has stayed sharp for 18 years and I bought a second for a new house.

Love it – I have had one of these zesters since 2007 when they were offered as a gift with a Cook’s Illustrated subscription. It’s still as sharp as the day it arrived even after years of use. I needed another one for a new location.

Prior to buying this one I already owned the handled zested from Microplane. This one is so much better and easier to use in my opinion. I wish I had bought this one sooner and not the other one. I removed the other from my kitchen drawer and have been using this instead.

It’s not difficult to find a good zester. This is not just a zester. This is the tool you need to make uptown garnishes to put in your fancy drinks. The little holes make long skinny threads of zest.

Turn it around and use the single cut portion to make thicker ribbons. I have been using this for a while. I just figured out that if you spiral around the fruit, you can make a longer continuous curved shaped garnish, just like you would get in your favorite bar.

If you have the time, slip these little zest peels in the freezer. You are so classy!.

My old zester disappeared. No matter how many times I mentioned it to my household, it never reappeared. I finally had to replace it. The fat handle on this one will hopefully keep it from disappearing so easily.

this was kind of a let down. it has the “zester” portion as well as the channel knife portion for making citrus peel curls and neither work particularly well. there are other tools out there that work a whole lot better and aren’t particularly expensive.

i’d spend the couple extra dollars and get a microplane and classic bar zester tool.

This zester was just what I needed. The previous one we used was straight and had really sharp blades up and down, which made it difficult for my kids to use. This one although plenty sharp to zest the lemon and lime the design of it make it much safer and easier for me and my young kids to use.

The OXO Good Grips Zester is a small fits-well-in-your-hand tool. After roasting asparagus, it was perfect for making lemon, lime, and orange zest as a garnish. The zest is large enough to see, looks impressive, and it is well separated – not mush! It works well to make “twists” as a garnish for drinks – flavored waters and teas.

However, I would not use it if I needed to make large amounts of zest for recipes or freezing, as it would be very time consuming. It is best used for garnishing, and for that, it works very well. Cleans up easily! Always a plus!.

I bought this for my grandchild who loves to cook. I bought one before this for myself and i love it. The zest stays in the top instead of dropping on the counter. The size of the zest is fine and is only the yellow skin not combined with the bitter white skin.

And the very best is that i have not once skinned my finger and have to through the zest out and begin again.

I have seen the Microplane used in cooking videos and recipe books for years but always thought they were a bit expensive for a grater especially when I already have a box grater in the kitchen. A few months ago I saw an inexpensive knock off version so thought Id try it out, on my first use grating some cheese I found it really tough to actually move the cheese across the blade and had to use a lot of force, so much that the cheese actually jolted and I ended up grating my thumb.

It was really nasty, so I was apprehensive about spending a fair bit more on the real deal and ending up with a utensil I felt unsafe using. I have to say my experience with the Microplane has been the total opposite.

I have tested it with both soft and hard cheeses, garlic, ginger and lemons and each glide across the blade with minimal effort. The blade doesnt actually feel super sharp to the touch but grates very easy so this is a credit to the unique design of the Microplane which is what really sets it apart from others.

It also feels very sturdy when youre grating so youre not trying to balance the weight of the cheese with the handling of the grater, which makes it even more safe to use. Cleaning is also very easy, just wipe downwards along the blade rinse under warm water and it will be clean.

It really is the Gold Standard and is worth spending a little extra on, even if only to save you grating your thumb.

I bought one of these last week as my old Tesco one had become very hard work to use as I have Rheumatoid disease which affects my hands. It was starting to really hurt and as I love to bake I thought it was time for a new one.

Im so glad I picked this one, I cant believe how easy and painless it is to zest with it I made chocolate orange loaf cakes this morning and zesting the oranges was a dream Its super sharp and the zest just comes away so quickly and with zero effort, and it leaves all the white pith behind.

I also love the guard that it comes with so no one cuts themselves when its in the drawer. And I was able to choose a red one to match my kitchen. Fantastic value and one very happy customer indeed.

I just read the one and two-star ratings. What they say is correct, but it is pretty versatile if you learn how to maneuver the zester around the lemon. I LOVE it. I think it zests more, and does not zest the white part, when you get to that level.

It’s easy to wash and you don’t scrape your knuckles using it. I highly recommend it, but be prepared to learn how to work it for your purposes.

This is a great zester!! First time used I was able to remove the outer zest of a lemon quickly and easily. Initially, I wondered how a whole lemon would fit. But it does not have to fit as one can easily move the device around the fruit.

No scraped knuckles, no widely scattered flecks everywhere.

This is such a high quality zester/reamer. I love that it’s an all-in-one product and the material is very sturdy. I first used it on a lemon with great results. I then tried a lime and had equally positive results.

Super mini grater for all sorts jobs. Bought it as an addition to its larger brother and both are essential parts of our food preparation. Convenient protective cover is really good for the grating surface and the handle gives a good grip.

Easy to wash.

I read a recommendation about this and thought I’d buy it. I love my other ‘Joseph Joseph’ items so assumed this would be a success too. I used it tonight for garlic (I know it’s a zester, but the article suggested that it was also good for ginger and garlic).

My finger is now in a plaster. it’s lethal. Probably fine if you’re holding a whole lemon, lime or orange but otherwise I’d be very, very careful! Anyone want to buy a zester? Only used once.

Very useful kitchen gadget – and looks nice too. I find it brilliant for grating lemons and limes and little squares of chocolate. Comfortable to handle and easy to clean. It has an inbuilt scraper which clears the food quickly from the grater and a slip-on plastic sheath which protects it when not in use.

I saw it being used on a TV cooking programme and was delighted to find it in John Lewis after unsuccessfully searching for it in local shops.

This is a hot color ‘from 1961’. Looks good around lemons. It’s like an aqua. ) Cheaper than the foot long version and on sale to boot. I like it. I bought each blade in this size and they are super handy in my small galley kitchen.

Also recommend is the sleeper if the year. That is a zwilling 6″ chef’s knife. What a handy dandy knife for a beginner or a student in a dorm kitchenette. It does it all and is extra not unwieldy there.

This zester/grater is strong and efficient. It’s up to you to make sure your lemon peels (for example) are not full of toxic chemicals, but this utensil will get the job done. It is also strong enough to use as a fefense weapon in case a human breaks into the house (all bets are off for bears).

Sent to my son as a gift. I have had one for several years and use it frequently. Does a great job zesting citrus fruits for recipes. Also good for parm cheese. Far better than that powder sold in shakers that is sold as parm.

Takes only minutes and has so much better flavour. Many other uses as well. Every cook should have one.

This makes zesting fruit & grating garlic a breeze. With it’s covers, it can rest safely in a drawer between uses.

Love that this can be used in more than one way. You can use the rasp end for fine zest and the other end for fancy curly strips of zest. I candy the curly zest to add to drinks and to decorate my food.

I love the color, makes it easy to spot plus the covers on the blades makes it safe and keeps the blades sharp. And last but not least it does the work of three different tools so it saves space in the drawer.

The difference between this product and a standard ‘box’ grater has to be seen to be believed. The blades are sharp, when you grate orange / lemon for zest, you do actually get more zest than the standard box grater, nothing is left trapped inside the grater itself.

It’s slightly more expensive than a standard kitchen grater but it does a better job and should last for years if looked after properly.

I was not sent this free for reviewing. I paid 13 for it because I wanted good, sturdy quality, which is what I got. I note it’s now several pounds cheaper! It arrived very quickly in a huge Amazon box.

The grater itself is smartly boxed and has a protective cover. We have used it for lemon zesting and Parmesan cheese and it works perfectly for both. Cleans easily with hand washing (carefully) and in the dishwasher.

I had an earlier model of the microplane for years which my husband and I both loved. After many years of use the plastic edging around the planer cracked. We were so excited to find this newer design of the same product! Best grater I’ve ever used! I thought perhaps for Christmas next year I’d give family a box of lemons or limes, with one of these grater/zesters! Everyone should have one!.

I’ve had one of these for many years and finally the plastic cracked (still usable) so I ordered a new one. It’s a perfect zester but also works well for finely grating parmesan. I wouldn’t hesitate to order again if I ever needed to.

After years of thinking grated citrus – such a wonderful addition to so many things – was a big pain in the neck to prepare using a ceramic grater or a small, thumb held grater, I discovered that it takes little effort at all.

I bought this tool for a friend who uses a wheel chair and loves to cook. It is easier for her to use to grate while preping and cooking. The size and the firmness make the difference. It stores in the kitchen drawer with everything else.

This zester is useless. It doesn’t zest anything successfully in the slightest. It also bends really easy. I bought 2 and both are the exact same. You’re better off not getting this item.

Works great. I like that it can zest, make garnishes, and score citrus so that it’s easier to peel. I used it today for the first time and it zested my lemons very easily. Hardly any pressure required at all.

It does make a slightly larger grate size than my old zester, but I don’t mind.

It is sharp and peels very well! My only complaint is the blade flips around a lot and it’s unclear which way you’re supposed to peel unless you feel where the blade it. Even just knowing which way is up would be helpful when you’re grabbing it to quickly get a garnish.

great item for peeling but you gotta watch it sometimes falls apart, the cutting edge comes off. Better then what I was using
