Wish this could have been a latest Gen7 product, thus enhancing its range and low power consumption. This is an excellent motion sensor very small in size and with other inbuilt sensors useful to trigger the events.

Its so tiny yet powerful enough.

Added straight away to my v2 Hub and has an officially supported device type. Not totally convinced on the wireless range, but I can’t honestly mark it down as the garden room it occupies has two layers of celotex insulation and thus 4 layers of foil to try and get through.

Once I had installed the Fibaro Dimmer 2 in there (which has a better position for the signal and can act as a repeater), the motion sensor then came to life and started working correctly. The sensor itself is nicely designed and the mount makes it very easy to pop in/out as required and position where you want it.

The marketing pictures are slightly deceptive as it certainly doesn’t look like an iris on the front, although that’s actually a positive in my mind as having a dis-embodied eye staring at you from the corner of the ceiling would be slightly disconcerting.

Everything seems to work perfectly thus far, and I’m enjoying having a luminance sensor to make my lighting more autonomous and appropriate to the conditions. I intend to buy more as I expand my smart home’s reach, very happy customer.

I have always used Alexa and to control my smart lights, however I got tired of always shouting commands to turn on the lights especially since I don’t have an Alexa in every room. So I thought this would perfect since it is motion detected instead of voice.

However my initial setup was a nightmare. I had my bulbs already synced up with Alexa and my bridge and I thought I could just add motion and that would be all, but nope! I had to reset all 15 lights.

I found out that by adding these motion sensors it makes my Alexa voice commands and smart bridge useless, like literally the device is incompatible with it. So if you don’t mind giving up alexa/Google voice commands and your smart bridge to control your lights then go for it, I just had no idea.

The app even tells you during setup that’s it’s “not compatible at this time” so my lights are no longer showing up in my Alexa app, bummer. But of course you can use the c by ge app to control the lights but not Google or Alexa.

Beside those negatives it works as expected I have my upstairs lights turn on automatically if someone walks up the stairs and same downstairs. You can set the brightness according to the time of day and a timer of how long the lights should stay on to save energy.

Also a tip set up your lights FIRST, then add your motion sensors or it will not work, so if your previous lights are already synced up with Google or Alexa you will have to reset your lights then add the motion sensors.

Also there will be a firmware update out the box, so I recommend you install that right away.

Received the GE Fund widescreen Smart Motion Sensor 1- Pack for testing and reviewing purposes I’m using the sensor as a walk in light when you first enter my house. I love the fact the lights pop on when we walk inside.

For that purpose, works fine – I’ve got a GE smart bulb in there and they work together just fine. But that’s the issue, this only works with the GE smart ecosystem. The sensor does NOT integrate with Google/Alexa, and it seems any device you sync up with it won’t either, so count those out of your “smart home” if you’re Google/Alexa based.

For me, it didn’t matter since the pantry is very standalone and I only need motion sensing. I do like the fact this is a wireless sensor that it is small and not noticeable. Can mount it wherever you’d like.

Battery is holding up great, and the motion detection is spot-on.

Detta gör att det kan gå långa perioder utan att någon ljusdata. Där jag vill ha kontinuerlig ljusa lösning och kunna trigga sensor oftare använder jag av Phillips Hur som är snäppet bättre på de punkterna men lite dyrare.

We have a couple of outdoor WiFi cameras, not for security reasons, but for entertainment, tracking the backyard wildlife. We live with backyard “neighbors” who wander through, as we live abutting a state forest and a river runs about 100 meters behind our house.

So bears, opossums, turkeys, raccoons, bobcats, etc. are visitors. We share the footage with our grandchildren, who delight in the escapades. At night, the cameras have IR cameras, but having a porch light turn on, detected by motion, makes the video much clearer.

After a set period of inactivity (adjustable in the Hue app; 5 minutes works well for us) the light turns off again. After perhaps 2 years, the factory alkaline AA batteries that power it were spent.

Swapping out the batteries was a bit of a chore, and NOT readily obvious, but with looking up on YouTube, the method became clear. The waterproof seal that keeps the insides dry from weather grips pretty tight, and prying it loose was where YouTube gave suggestions.

It installed easily, paired into our Hue bridge, and integrated into our lighting system rapidly and intuitively, like I have come to expect from all our Hue items: Hue light bulbs, light strips, switches, portable Go lamp, front walkway path lights, etc.

With this history, we purchased this device again, this time to automatically turn on the front walkway lights, to guide the way for visitors or delivery men. That saves us from running the lights on a schedule every night, which was the prior method.

Now we have the lights turn on when they sense a mammal passing within the beam (I saw mammal, since it senses the infrared heat of the body of the person, or the animal. I think a raccoon is big enough, but mice, voles, chipmunks, etc.

do not get picked up.

This is expensive for a stand-alone sensor, but solves the “arriving home” problem better than location tracking. If your outdoor lighting is already part of the Hue system, adding a motion sensor works better than trying to get to Hue app or Google Home app to identify when you arrive home fast enough to make a difference.

If you are looking for a motion sensor flood lighting solution and are not already embedded in the Hue ecosystem, a solar powered flood light is more economical overall and less frustrating since the expectations are lower.

I have set up one of these for both my front and back porch since those lights are part of the Hue system. They tend to turn on anytime a person walks or drives by, but unfortunately adjusting the sensitivity also affects the lights turning on properly when someone walks up to the front door.

Thus, I ended up setting these up so they only turn on the outside lights to minimize how the affect, and the lights only stay on for a minute or two. Otherwise, the lights would probably remain on constantly until daylight.

Installation is easy since it only takes a single screw to fasten the base to the house. Setup in the Hue app is relatively easy too, though adjusting the settings is not as reactive as promoted in the materials.

I am not sure why, but adjusting this accessory takes a lot longer to save than the other accessories like the switch. Also, adjusting the daylight sensitivity does not work out of the box, as it seems to need a day or so to acclimate to the environment.

(i. e. , did not work well when first installed, but was adjustable the next day) Overall, it generally works well once set up properly, though if the Nest Cameras motion detection can eventually be tied to the Hue lighting; this will end up being unnecessary.

TLDR – Make sure your sensor is enabled in the Hue app before you try to replace the batteries!I am very pleased with these Outdoor Sensors. I do get false motion readings when sun is shining through trees on one of them in the mornings, but they are very reliable overall in controlling Hue indoor and outdoor lights.

I especially love that I can use motion from these sensors to trigger HomeKit automation. I just spent an hour trying to figure out how to open the Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor to replace the batteries.

The Apple Home app was reporting No Response for the Outdoor Motion Sensor, which is typical when a device is powered off or battery is dead. I assumed the batteries were due for replacement. My Hue system is connected to HomeKit, so I rarely open the Hue app.

I noticed the sensor was still glowing red when I was handling it, so I thought Id open the Hue app and try to confirm the battery level. In the process, I realized that I had disabled the sensor in Hue app.

MY SOLUTION – I enabled the sensor in Hue app and the sensor is working correctly again and showing status in Apple Home app again. Ugh! I wish Home app showed Disabled instead of the No Response message typical of powered off or dead devices.

I hope checking whether or not your Hue motion sensor is enabled in Hue app saves you some hassle. Battery FYI – Hue app does not show battery level for any of my Outdoor Sensors. The sensor has 4 small phillips batteries in the back.

After removing these screws, the back cover seemed glued/sealed shut. I referred to the original instructions and they have very vague battery warnings saying the battery should not be recharged and the sensor should only be opened to replace the batteries BUT the original instructions do not have any info about replacing the batteries.

I suspect the batteries are not meant to be replaced. I may update my review with more details and a teardown if/when a sensor does die.

Purchased 3 Hue Motion Sensors version 2 to use with Lifx LED strip and a couple of Lifx Clean Bulbs. I did lots of research and Hue came out making tbe best with the fastest response time a a decent cool down time.

They work flawlessly! Yes Zigbee Hue motion sensors controlling the Wifi lights. The strip is in a closet. The Hue sensor detects the door opening (did not want a contact switch since I have 4 bifold closet doors, One motion sensor can detect any door movement from inside the closet.

I use the other sensors to turn the Clean bulbs on and off in the kitchen. How can Zigbee Hues control Lifx Wifi, I use a Habitat hub (no need for a Hue hub) and I get total control of all the smart equipment.

I synced the original stuff with their own apps, and then I let the Hubitat built in apps and rules detect and control it all. They all work great!.

TLSR: All and all a well built and capable sensor it is just lacking good software support and integration. I have owned this sensor for a few years now. The software support for what this bad boy can do is non-existent.

For example, it doesn’t integrate with any assistant and thus cannot be used to for automation or routines through Google or Amazon. It has a built in temp sensor that is not used at all. Based on the temp I would like to be able to change the light color, sending a notification if to hot/cold, or use the temp data with my home heating system through Google.

The motion sensor works very well and the sensitivity adjustments are fairly intuitive. Again, my only complaint is the lack of assist integration. I currently can only set a range of hours for the motion sensor and would like to be able to set “sunrise” or “sunset” so it adjusted to the day instead of a specific hour.

Battery lasts forever which is awesome. Lastly, I wish I could pause the sensor through an assistant or switch instead of just through the app. Sometimes when I am watching a movie I have to get up and turn the sensor around so it doesn’t turn my loving room lights on during the movie.

Love these but they are constantly out of stock! Expensive but work eamlessly with Philips hue system. Motion sensor is so useful to light the route from hall, upstairs and bedroom for safety and security.

We have been gradually adding to rooms where family tend to leave lights on as we convert to Philips hue bulbs, but these sensors are constantly out of stock everywhere including JLP. Useful that it has two ‘on’ settings so it can be dim lighting when desired- a dimmed lamp is lovely in the kitchen at night instead of the usual bright utility lights.

The sensor is so tiny it can be easily propped somewhere discrete without need to get the drill out.

Because it is not possible to set security cameras to not detect and alarm on bugs and flying objects at night that are attracted to the infrared night vision I use these as the notification device that there is movement.

(I know there are those experts that say you just need to know how to setup the motion sensors but I have wasted too may hours trying) I turn off the camera alarm notification at night because of bugs and use the Ring motion sensor to notify me of movement or persons in the view of the camera.

Using these I can set the sensitivity on the cameras to better detect and record humans and most size animals. I live in rural Texas and have 14 high dollar security cameras and sleep much better using these rather than the camera notification at night.

After receiving this product a few weeks ago I was really excited to use it especially since its such as handy product in the house. However the product was really hard to install and did not include batteries.

You also need to have another ring product that acts as the main connecting point for the other ring products so downloading the app like stated on the instructions did not work with unless you had the main connecting product.

Overall, the product took a lot of time and money to install and was not as valuable as expected.

The item does what it is supposed to, the key is taking having a Ring Bridge and some planning. I have this item tied into my Ring Low Voltage Transformer. I have it positioned around the side of my house so that when guests come around the corner to the back of my house where I have built a deck for the neighbors to hang out after dark, it lights the deck stairs.

I played with the location of the sensor several times so that the step lights come on just as they round the corner usually unless they are running. I moved it around a couple of times due to the slight lag between motion and the lights coming on.

So far it has been great, and at a casual stroll the timing is perfect, gotten lots of compliments on my setup.

The actual Zooz 4 in 1 is good, if that’s what you are getting. Unfortunately I’ve purchased a couple of knockoffs from normally reliable sources. Like buying a Rolex on the street lately. They look identical but my system only works with genuine Zooz and when setting up, the true identity shows.

(Often “Monoprice” or another brand). No reason to think the fakes won’t work on other systems but not on Vera at this time. (Huge shortcoming for Vera also but I hear even the cheap fakes likely work with Samsung Smarthings.

I have two. One works solid. The other will flat line on temperature every few weeks. Removing and reinserting the battery gets it working again. Pressing the wake up button does not. I have another one within 10 feet of the first, it works well.

Probably a quality issue.

Bought 3 of these sensors for use with my Z-wave system – a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running Home Assistant. They paired successfully on the first attempt and provide what I was looking for: motion sensing, temperature, humidity, luminance.

The battery levels are reported as well. I’ve used these at my vacation home previously, so I was familiar with their operation. The only thing that can be a bother is that they will occasionally emit a bright LED flash, which at night can be a bit distracting.

I have been using these sensors for about a year. I have them mounted outside on fence posts and trees. The are connected to my Homeseer home automation system through a Hubitat home automation. The motion sensors are Zigbee and pair easily to the Hubitat Hub.

My wife has a kings ransoms worth of plants in the yard, and we use the motion sensors to detect the deer coming into the yard at night to eat her plants. The Homeseer sends out a verbal announcement over the Google Home on which sensor is detected.

The dog is quite keen to hear the announcement and pops up ready to chase. The sensors work very well on sensing the deer, only issue would be when a car passes by as others have mentioned, or when its too windy.

We had the ability to turn the sensors away from the road to resolve the car light issue, but when it is too windy and the branch and trees are swaying, we have to disable the automation. Direct sunlight also gives false triggers, but we dont use the motion sensors during the day.

The sensors work well of course on detecting of there things people, dogs, and other varmints. The sensor also offers temperature and Lux readings. The temperature seems mostly accurate to a couple of degrees.

I dont use the lux measurement and have turned down the reporting to a change of 500 lux. I have used the motion sensitivity adjustments through the Hubitat devices dashboard, and appears to make a difference.

All 6 of my sensors have survived about a year with no failures yet. I think its a good product for the outdoors if you can avoid direct sunlight and car headlights.

The ring smart lighting motion sensor connects to other ring devices via the ring bridge to allow them to be activated via motion. We connected this sensor to our ring doorbell to make it start recording when motion is detected further away than the doorbell itself allows.

It was super easy to set up and connect and since it is battery powered, no wiring was necessary. We really like all of the ring products!.

Worth every penny! We love our in the country and having this brings a lot of reassurance about our safety. It’s high quality and works well. It quickly notifies and records any motion in our yard. It’s very important for us to feel safe especially when our teens are at home alone.

Highly recommend.

Pros: Easy to set up, just need to follow instructions. I bought this set while it was on offer with Ring indoor camera. With my Ring doorbell and Spotlight camera it all works perfect together. I’m so pleased I have an access to my camera from my phone wherever I am.

Great Ring customer support. Cons: Design of the keypad looks cheapish. Door motion sensors a bit tricky to put up.

I purchased two Eufy Motion Sensors for my home and they have proven to be reliable and function perfectly. You will need a working Eufy Homebase, or Homebase 2, in order to use the Eufy Motion Sensors.

Adjustments for sensitivity, when the sensors will be active, and how you receive notice of movement, etc. , are all made using the Eufy phone App. Adding the motion sensor to your existing system is a snap; I believe it took longer to remove the sensor for the packaging and install the battery than it did to pair the sensor to my Homebase 2.

Mounting the sensor to your wall or ceiling is also easy using screws or peel and stick tape, all of which is included. I have a number of Eufy products and, in general, I’m quite happy with them. However, I find Eufy’s help and instructions to be either vague, fragmented, non-existent, or just plain wrong.

In this case there are no instructions for sensitivity adjustments, etc. Figuring out how to make those adjustments with your phone App is relatively intuitive, but Eufy leaves it up to you to hunt and peck.

Also, the User Manual is incorrect (page 8), where it discusses battery replacement. In my experience this is quite typical of Eufy, which is why I only gave them 4 stars for installation.

In the ultimate in laziness, I purchased this to notify me of mail delivery. We don’t have a freestanding mailbox at the street. There’s a cutout in our garage wall and a mail slot which drops mail into a basket in our garage.

We don’t get all that much mail anymore, but the way the mail slot is situated in a little alcove, you have to walk all the way into the garage to see if there’s any mail in the basket. The slot and basket is in a little niche/alcove in the garage, so this motion sensor doesn’t pick up any other activity in the garage except for the mail slot being opened and mail being dropped in.

I have several Eufy cameras, but do not have notification sounds set for those. I did set an audible notification for this motion sensor though, so I know when I hear an Eufy notification, it’s the mail and not any of the cameras.

Since this is in our garage, wifi strength is not an issue at all. Not quite sure if it would work just as easily if used in a freestanding sidewalk type of mailbox. I guess that would just depend on how strong your wifi is and where your homebase is located in relation.

Can’t be more pleased.

Well at first I was not sure about this purchase. I had to really take some time to make sure this product is on the up and up. I have to say it has a good job being a good motion sensor. I was able to get it connected to my phone.

The only thing was I would have to test it at times to see if it was picking up motion as I walked passed it. But as time went by the eufy motion sensor did what it is suppose to do which is give me info on what is going around inside my home.

Plus you can adjust it so it will know when human (size) intruders are detected which is good. So would I recommend this item. YES. I believe you would be pleased to have this i your home. Try it and see.

The design is great, very evocative and even the other half likes it. Ideally I would have the HomeSeer HSM100, but they are discontinued, so these are a good alternative. They are set up in HS easily (but renaming takes a while).

Can’t use them outdoors (I’ve tried) water gets into the casings surprisingly – did wonder about recasing them. But, surprise, surprise you CAN use them on 5V – I’ve been running a few off of a (5V) USB PSU – both froma Netbook and via a much higher rated plugin PSI and it’s been fine.

I LIKE mains devices, batteries cost a lot and, yes, I’ve tried the rechargeable CR123’s and they don’t last either. Also means I can set the reporting to be more frequently. Downside is that I can’t tell it that it is now a routing node (could with the HSM100’s – sigh, I miss them).

I will be using these, but wired and indoors.

I purchased a few of these to try as an alternative to the BeNext sensors I’ve been using for 2 years. The BeNext sensors work fine, but they are bigger than these and just aren’t as cool looking. First and foremost, the size and quality is much better with the Fibaro – they are small enough to be mounted anywhere.

The pupil color/brightness adjustment is cool, and with a bit of controller-side processing, you can actually set it to just about anything, not just to indicate temperature. I have Zipatile, and the Fibaro sensors seem to work well on it.

They’re fast to trigger motion detection, and the range seems at least about thirty feet for a human-sized moving object. Zipato and Fibaro works great together.

Good Sensitivity and Coverage but a bit pricey. They should sell it without the base plate and lower the selling price. Have eight installed on one property for five years now. One failed after a year.

This is not my 1st STL 360 SENSOR to be in service. These are the very best available if your seeking a sensor that works with incandescent lighting or need one to energise a relay that in turn controls many lights.

They are the very best you can buy. American made and gauranteed for years.

Can’t get you 60 ft out when mounted at recommended height. Maybe 30-35 at most. For that alone price should be lowered a bit.

These are excellent HomeKit Motion Sensors. We have 5 of these Indoor Hue Motion sensors, and 1 Outdoor and they are all awesome. Almost immediate response time, so they work really well for automations in HomeKit.

We have them setup for stairs light strips, and lighting in our bathrooms and laundry room. They work really well and have immediate response time and reliability. I don’t think I’ve ever had a problem with any of them.

They are a little pricey, but they are on par with other HomeKit motion sensors, so I guess I can’t complain. It’s also ZigBee based, so the response time is immediate with no delay and no range problems.

Disclaimer: I have not tried Bluetooth based motion sensors for HomeKit, but I imagine they have a slight delay. Battery life on one of my oldest motion sensors (that sees a LOT of activity throughout the entire day) is at 50% after almost three years.

Really super impressed with that.

I bought this and connected it to my raspberry pi with Home Assistant (hassio) installed. I had to buy a Zwave usb dongle as well. The motion sensor controls the Philips hue light strips in the kitchen so when we walk in they turn on and turn back off when no motion detected.

The sensor is great, it detects our motion but not the cats. The temperature is really helpful as I have plans to connect it to the central heating. The lux sensor is strange, it never seems to read above 39lux, my plan was to use that to decide if it was dark enough to warrant turning the lights on, but ended up using the hassio sun setting instead.

Setting up the sensor was easy, however had a couple of issues running it on batteries and then a cheap usb. It kept dropping out, loosing connection etc. When I used a decent branded usb and plugged it into my power socket usb port it’s worked great since so bear that in mind.

Also under battery power it goes into a sleep mode so only reports it’s temp, humid, lux etc every hour, under power you can set it to anything you want (I have every 60sec). When under power it also acts as a repeater for the Zwave, helping the integrity of your mesh.

So far so good. The multi-sensor connected to the Z-Wave network quickly and easily. I am using it with the Hubitat controller and all the required variables are brought through without issue. As I was mounting the sensor in the kitchen I also bought the ceiling mounting kit which posses a subtle issue in that I needed to get 5V micro USB into the ceiling void somehow.

This involved a third party PSU and sacrificing a micro USB lead but now it works well with everything accessible through the cutout. The sensor can be run on batteries but this causes sensor refresh rate limitations which I could probably have worked around.

Really like the unit and will be adding more to my system as I refurbish each room of the house.

I bought two about two years ago and have been using them with rechargeable batteries. They work so great that I bought another one a few months ago but I couldn’t get it to work properly. Aeotec customer service advised me that the slightly higher voltage of rechargeable batteries causes problems and therefore you can only use regular batteries.

This was a massive disappointment as I have to change the batteries 4-5 times a year. There appears to have been a hardware change as my older ones work perfectly with rechargeable batteries. There is also a delay of a few seconds when the motion sensor is triggered.
