20 Best Zigbee Smart Plug (2022 Updated)

If you have a hue ecosystem these are so nice to have. For us, we generally use it for patio lights with a sensor or Christmas lights outside and on our tree. You can set up them with a dawn to dusk setting which then in automatically when the sun begins to go down.

It’s wonderful. You can also use for electric fireplaces or coffee makers to have an auto on if you’d like to wake up to the smell of brewed coffee. They work seamlessly with the app too, so don’t waste your time waiting.

Just get it. You’ll want to before they usually sell out before Christmas.

“Fully customizable” it is not. It is a glorified on/off switch albeit for multiple lights. Other than picking which lights and the light color, there is no customization. Can’t even adjust the times.

Also, the Hue Lab Timed-Off program that enables the Tap Switch and the Dimmer Switch to be capable of turning lights on and then turning them off automatically off after a preset amount of time doesn’t work on this switch.

This would be very useful for stairwells and guidelights. Pretty sad for a European product as this feature has been customary on European hallway, stairwell and path lights for decades. As it is, it isn’t really worth the trouble.

The Tap Switch has much more capability. Luckily I stocked up on those when they were still available. I wouldn’t recommend this for purchase.

The Philips Hue smart outlet is pretty amazing! Our home consists mainly of Hue bulbs with the exception of a few strands of decorative white Christmas lights for atmosphere. The smart outlet provided the solution of allowing us to enable / disable these additional lighting options to allow full control over the household lights.

The product is absolutely 5 stars. There are a couple of things to keep in mind: 1. The smart outlet uses a relay to switch the lights on and off, so you’ll hear a click which is normal. 2. When connecting to the Hue App, if you select the option for the smart outlet, it redirects to lighting.

The app could use a bit of work to not confuse folks, but ultimately, you will want to select the lighting option when adding it to your bridge. Just a minor thing that may cause confusion, but once you add it, you’re in business.

Bought this Sengled Smart Plug to use with SmartThings. This works as described. Connected to SmartThings was easy. Wish it could have dimmer to control the light. It is OK to use as On/Off. If I buy smart plug again, probably buy the one with dimmer as I need one.

Always worried about adding on too many wifi plugs to my network I needed a switch for my smartthings hub and I preferred zigbee, like the original smartthings accessories. I didn’t need energy monitoring for this plug jus on and off.

This plug proved to be simple to hook up and user with my hub. And the price was right!.

This works great, except for one really annoying software issue. It reads as a light, not a plug or outlet. So when I say “lights out” it turns my fans off. I have found no fix for this. Fix this and it’s an easy five star.

I’ve tried other brands that are now just sitting in the junk box to be used for parts. I bought my 1st package of these and I was so impressed. First, they are the easiest outlets to set up. But the big things for me, are that when connected to WiFi, THEY STAY CONNECTED! If my WiFi goes down (like I reboot the router) these TP-Link outlets all reconnect without fail! The other thing, is that they actually are able to connect to WiFi from our garage, which is over 100′ away from the router, which is inside the house, behind a double-brick wall! I ended up buying 2 more packages (12 altogether) and I’m about to buy another set of 4 (or perhaps 8 if they go on sale again).

Seriously, best outlets yet and I’ve had them for a long time now. Very stable. Oh and don’t forget, the app that you use to set these up, can also create groups. So like our “livingroom” has 2 outlets and my Lab has 4.

All I have to say, is, Hey Google! Turn on the Lab Lights. All 4 outlets are then turned on as a group!.

High quality plugs, ON/OFF switching sounds more premium than the Chinese round Tuya/Teckin ones. Kasa app is a breeze, simple, pretty, and uncluttered. I created schedules for my Christmas lights, so they turn off at night.

I also created a “smart action” that turns off my phone charger after 2 hours, because leaving your phone charging overnight slowly damages your battery. I trigger it by a routine : “Alexa, charge my phone”.

There is an “away” mode that will randomly turn on and off anything you have plugged in (ie. a lamp, or radio) to trick potential burglars into believing there is somebody home. Alexa and Google Home integration is awesome.

Good thing is the app works locally, so in case your Internet fails, you will still be able to control them from the app. They also feature a switch on the side for manual On/Off. All this being said, this remains an IoT device, so go check the reviews for the Kasa app before you buy.

I bought these because the they were described as being compatible with Smartthings and I believed that to mean they work directly with a Smartthings hub. It turns out you need the Kasa app and the Smartthings setup prompts you to let the Smartthings app communicate with the Kasa app.

I wrote a simple command in Smartthings to have these come on and off on a schedule (Christmas lights). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. The only way I could make them to work reliably was to forget Smartthings and schedule them in the Kasa app, which is not really what I want.

Otherwise, they seem well built and are easy to set up, just don’t expect them to integrate well with Smartthings.

Fits right in with our other smart home products. Easy to use. Compatible with my Google Home. Would definitely purchase again. App could use some improvement but it’s not terrible.

WARNING: these 2g smart plugs WILL NOT WORK with a wifi speed of 5g. Even using a dualband 2g/5g router, if your ISP is running 5g into your home, you MUST USE A 5g plug… THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE!

Its good product. Easy to setup and use. However, if you have dual frequencies (2. 4 and 5G) router and it automatically switch between frequencies then make sure to log into 2. 4g only otherwise you may be have difficult time to connect device.

This is a great item. Easy to set up and works reliably. I use one to control my under the kitchen cabinet lights, I can turn them on or off from my phone and can set them up to run on a schedule. This would really great to use on things that are hard to reach too.

It’s well made and compact.

These smart outlets have been the easiest to configure and to link up with Google Assistant. I’ve tried quite a few brands and this one has been a consistent performer.

The length of cord is too short in some instances. The plug covers are a little too loose. They almost don’t stay in the plug(s). Maybe… they’re too soft of a rubber? Stats fall short because of typical, intrusive location requirements.

You’re required to use your mobile’s location but you shouldn’t have to. Supposedly – so it can know your time. Devices are able to use your router’s time zone info. Otherwise… what is the device going to when I live in one time zone and frequently travel to another? Smart phones automatically update time settings, so my outdoor lights are going to come on three hours early? The only thing I can see for the supposed need is for use when you leave or come home to automatically turn on & off.

This makes for having to creatively set up device. After setup it seems possible to turn off locations requirement. But why do we always need to dance around our own privacy??.

Over all I like the Wyze plug. It is very affordable, easy to set up and easy to build schedules. I like being able to run different schedules for each outlet on the plug. I have two problems with the plug.

First is the cap. The cap is not well attached to the case. It falls off easily once you choose to use one of the outlets. This appears to allow water into the case at the point where the cap should be attached as I have had my GFI tripped twice in damp weather.

The other problem is the case around the outlet is not wide enough to accommodate the “brick” on the end of the ornament that I need to plug in for control. This could also cause moisture to get into the plug.

I had to buy an adapter to go between the outlet and the plug to solve this problem.

Like other products from Wyze these plugs combine a smart design with great performance all at the fairest price on the market. In that regard these plugs are 5 star. My only issue is with the app. Programming the plugs isn’t as simple as some other ones I own.

Maybe a choice between simple and advanced set up could be added. I bought these for my father-in-law and in his words all he wants to do is say what time to turn it on and what time to turn it off, all on one screen- simple.

As it is now you must set up a “rule” for on and a separate rule for off on multiple screens after choosing “actions” with multiple “saves”. Not as intuitive as it could be. In the end, they work but if I were to buy again for a “tech-challenged” person I would go with another plug.

DANGEROUS FIRE HAZARD. The plugs are rated 15A, but failed with a 10A load. They have charred and may have caught fire if I hadn’t noticed the burning smell. The BN-Link app is useless. Just use the SmartLife app for a flawless and quick installation.

The instructions with the app and those that come with the plug do not match, and neither works.

Excellent WiFi Plug outlets. I installed all 4 around the house, one is even outside used to light up a string of lights that is over a wooden deck which is the furthest away from the router and withstanding hot and humid Florida weather.

They all work perfect. Price is a great deal. They are easy to set up and I also set it up with my Alexa which was an easy set up too. Instructions are clear and detailed. They feel to be very well constructed.

These work by way of a relay hooked up to a wireless receiver which makes me think it’s such a simple set up that it should make it a reliable unit. Casing feels solid and well constructed. It even has a switch mounted on the outlet for manual On/Off.

Very clever design.

BN-LINK no longer uses an ESP82xx MCU in this model. Therefore one cannot replace the firmware with Tasmota. The WB26 BEKEN MCU modual can be removed and replaced with an ESP82xx MCU M2 transplant that can run Tasmota.

Don’t let my wife’s bad attitude sully your opinion of these plugs: they are GREAT. But I think I’ve read somewhere that with great power comes great responsibility, so I’ll have to give you some context for why my wife *thinks* she doesn’t like these.

I’m here to champion for them at the risk of her seeing this review, so buckle up, partner. I’ve got about a dozen of these Wyze plugs in our house now and here’s what they have done for me: they’ve made me less of an old man.

How? Before we had Wyze plugs in all of the bedrooms connected to the plethora of lamps we have, every time I left the house I had to either a. ) walk through every bedroom and turn the switch on lamps off, or b.

) holler at my children in my best 40-year old dad tone about how electricity isn’t free and to turn off all the lights in the house. Usually, this resulted in me grumbling at everyone or everyone grumbling at me and I slowly morphed into the neighborhood curmudgeon telling people to get off my lawn.

Now that I have Wyze plugs as I’m walking out the door all I have to do is say, “Alexa, turn off the lights. ” Boom! It’s done. And he saw that it was good (in a not blasphemous way). I know I can program rules to do that when I walk out without even saying anything — there’s great power in these things (literally AND figuratively).

I still like being able to yell at someone, so Alexa takes the brunt of it from me and things stay all happy at home. I’ve found the greatest use with them connected to lamps and if you’re going to use your voice via an Echo Dot or Google Hub, just don’t manually switch them on or off: use the app or the external device.

I originally purchased to remotely control some christmas lights, but now I use to remotely reboot my wyze cameras. On my last trip I was gone for a month but after a power failure 1 week into my trip, 2 of my v2 Wyze cameras would not come back online.

I read recomendations online to use these smart plugs to remotely reboot your router but that does not work as the smart plug needs an active router to actually work (obviously these pundits never tried what they recommended).

It turned out that my router can be programmed to reboot on schedule, so I then set up these plugs on my Wyze cameras including 3 v2 indoor and the base for a v1 outdoor camera. Works a charm! I can now remotely turn the plugs off to reboot the cameras.

I’ve even tested in real life as I had another power failure while 60 mi away and 1 camera refused to come back on until I turned the plug off and then back on again. There is one plug that seems flaky but I haven’t gotten around to testing if the problem is the camera (this site sees the most motion daily).

Prior to putting on the smart plug, this camera never shut off but with the plug it shuts off at least once/week. Regardless, these plugs have solved my problem of how to reboot my Wyze cameras while travelling.

There are similar products on the market but Wyze Plug’s quality stands out. It has all the functions I wished it had. Setting up and using it is very easy and simple. I like the vacation mode that similar products from other makers lack.

I got rid of all my mechanical timer plugs after I purchased this product and never looked back. This saved me tons of work, and automated many of my devices. Now if only this plug can offer a USB output (for charging phones, etc.

) with smart output capability, that would be great. By smart output capability I mean to let the user configure it to be able to turn the charging port off when certain criteria is met. These criteria can include the charging wattage threadhold (when it is below a certain number, stop charging), charging current, delay turning off, etc.

Of course, this is my wishful thinking. The plug as it is now is already very good. I am satisfied with the product.

My introduction to smart plugs was a gift of the “A-word” Echo Smart Plug. I used it for a hands-free voice-control of a lamp when I enter my home after dark. I was already familiar with this item when I spotted in store on a recent visit.

This was at better price than buying direct from them, and I earn rewards with Office Depot, so it was a no-brainer purchase to pick up for my work-from-home office. It’s a simple on/off non-dimmable plug that is voice activated with Alexa service if you have the app on a mobile device, or one of their Alexa-enabled devices like an Echo Dot.

The app also allows you to schedule it. I’m using mine for a floor lamp. You need to have home WiFi, and the Alexa app installed on a mobile device while connected to your WiFi. Simple instructions include a QR code that the app will read with your device’s camera to help configure the plug for your home network.

It’s a quick process. You can then name the device in the app to identify it for voice control. Tip: If you’re using the plug to power a lamp, change the device type in the app from plug to lamp. This allows you to activate some special routines, like saying “Alexa turn off all lights”.

If you have more than one controlled by Alexa like I do, this is great when turning in for the night. There is a good-bye routine as well, but I’ve not set that up yet.

This was bought to replace the Kasa TP link. This was worth the extra money. Setup was easy, just follow the directions and it connects to the Alexa app. The device manages how much electricity is being used and can be manually turned on and off through the app.

The devices timer/schedule features are bit awkward but you can get it setup to turn on and off at a specific time. Those who are older or not inclined to technology may have a little trouble getting the timer/schedule setup.

The best part I like is that I have all my outdoor Christmas lights connected to three different time and they all come and shut off at the same time instead of the old manual dial timers. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I bought this for my youngest daughter as one of her birthday gifts. She has an Echo Dot in her room and a small lamp on her nightstand. We have been gradually upgrading components around the house to smart home functionality and she wanted to have her bedroom lighting to be among that.

Her nightstand lamp is now connected to this Amazon smart plug and installation was very easy. She loves being able to use voice control on the lamp and it is nice being able to turn it on and off remotely if she forgets and leaves the light on.

This also adds to the security of the house. A very useful and solid product!.

This is junk! No wonder it was on clearance! It does not sync with Alexa. It needs its own smart hub to make it work with it, so it’s not as “SMART” as it claims to be. There are much better options out there so returned it immediately.

These plugs work great with Philips Hue since Philips doesn’t make a plug for the Hue product line. However, there is a caveat. Only the Sylvania Lightify plugs work with Hue lights. The plugs that have “SMART+” will not work with Hue lights.

The two plugs like identical but they have different internal components.

I use this with my wink hub and have connected my air conditioner to it with a temperature sensor. When it gets hot, the plug will activate and the air conditioner will start and run until the temperature falls below the set point.

I all works great and is easy to setup. I can now turn the plug on with my echo dot.

Sockets needed a firmware update but very simple to set up on Smartlife app using a 2. 4Ghz WiFi. You dont have to set up hub for 2. 4Ghz just use an extender. These are usually 2. 4ghz – you must also log set up device like iPad on the extender 2.

Love these Teckin Smart Plugs. Use them for my lamps in four rooms in my home. Easy to set up with Smart Home App and then linked to Alexa and I am NOT a techie person

Works perfectly when connected to 2. 4Ghz WiFi. If you have Virgin working on 5. 0Ghz will not connect. But easy to sort. Check out You Tube video, Virgin connect to Teckin Smart Plug to show you how.

I already owned a Philips Hue Bridge and some Philips Hue bulbs. I purchased this plug to expand my system. The plugs came with minimal documentation but that wasn’t a problem. I simply plugged it in and followed the prompts on the Philips Hue Bridge App and I had everything working in a matter of minutes.

The plug includes a LED to show whether or not it’s on as well as a manual override button – both of which were helpful whilst I was setting things up. Strongly recommend the product. It just works.

Bought the Philips Hue compatible switched socket when it was on offer. It simply offers on / off control of the product plugged into it. There is no dimming. There are others on the market (not Hue compatible) up to 10 GBP cheaper that also offer energy monitoring, to tell you how much power your attached product consumes.

Time for Philips to improve its product.

Set up was straightforward with a choice of connections. I added mine to my existing Hue Bridge for full functionality – but you can also operate via the standalone Hue Bluetooth app if you’re not in the Hue eco system.

And once connected, you can operate your light via your mobile or even voice control through Alexa and Google Assistant. The plug itself is very compact and acts as an adapter between your lamp plug and the wall socket.

Really was glad I saw this product on Ebay. I bought other Feit indoor Smart plugs at Costco and really liked them. I used same Feit smart app to add them to my devices and was very easy. Extremely good value.

Came exactly as described, plus I received it sooner than expected. Im now the proud owner of two Feit smart plugs! Super easy set up with the Feit app. They work like a dream.

So far very happy with my purchase. Thinking if getting another for the plug in the back. Good buy. With the price of hydro going up it shouldn’t take to long to pay for it’s self.

These work great with the app. It makes it a whole lot easier turning on our Christmas trees and window candles all from the palm of my hand. (We bought a pile of these things!)

Such an easy way to make your home smarter! I never realized what I was missing out on when I didn’t have these in my life. I can control everything right from my phone through the VeSync app. No more worries about whether or not something was left on.

It so handy to have the option of setting up to 26 schedules and 5 timers. Now I can throw away my unreliable old school timer for my lights that I would pull out anytime we went on vacation. If hands free voice commands are more your thing, these smart plugs work with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assisstant! They also come with a 2 year warranty.

It’s so refreshing when a company is willing to stand behind their product for longer than 90 days.

These are a great first step to a smart home. I have them plugged in for lights and fans. These are small and not too bulky. They fit snuggly into the outlets. I never realized how truly convenient it is to have them.

But these have opened my eyes to a whole new outlook on a smart home. Like if I am not home, I could turn on/off lights when needed (or even to make it look like someone is home). I don’t have to get out of bed in the middle of the night to turn on the fan.

I use the app on my phone. And on the app, besides turning it on or off, it shows how much energy it is using. Which is a major plus to know!! It was totally easy to get everything going. Just plug it in, download the app, and connect.

Super easy upgrade to your home!.

I love these! Got them to control all my Christmas lights, these and the outdoor ones that were on sale. Then I bought the Etekcity wall switches, I now have 12 total. You can control them through the app or the app’s widget on your phone.

Turn lights or whatever on and off, set timers, set it to come on and off at a certain time, different for each day of the week. Even set to sunrise or sunset, or x minutes before or after. That changes as sunrise changes.

You can also see the “meter” on each outlet to see how much electricity it is using. Set your company’s killowatt hour rate and it will tell you how much it is costing. Even give you a weekly chart. I put their smart switches on my exterior lights and now they come on 10 minutes after sunset and go off when I set them.

I have purchased probably 125-20 of these over the years. Very dependable and easy to program. They seem to be getting harder to find recently. I was glad to see that Staples had them available. Very satisfied.

Never had any trouble with these plugs. Always work as described. Setup is easy. Ratings are excellent. Surprised that they aren’t being produced any more. Hopefully service will still be provided.

Extremely compact, relatively easy to setup (I had to repeat the setup twice but did not mind), firmware did update immediately after setup, works with the VeSync app, gives you statistics on power consumption which is amazing.

I have a few different ‘smart’ brands of outlets and bulbs that I’ve connected to my Alexa, and the GE Cync outlet has been just as easy as any to set up and use. You do have to dowoad the Cync app first in order to set it up, but after that you can pair it with Alexa (if that is your preference) and control it from there.

Outlet has been responsive when I ask Alexa to turn it off and on and I haven’t seemed to have any connection issues with it. Took just a couple of minutes to set it up. If you are controlling it through the Cync app, the app has a nice interface and is easy enough to navigate, but I think it’s really built to handle a larger network of devices and doesn’t make much sense to use (in my opinion) if you don’t have multiple Cync devices you can add to it.

I much prefer controlling all devices through the Alexa app. Overall it’s a really nice smart outlet, easy to set up, and a good affordable price from a reputable brand. I’d purchase again if I am in the market for more smart outlets.

The GE Smart Plug works great from the GE Sync app on my iPad. It is also controllable from the Google Home app if you use that, however it didn’t always respond to the Google Home app. Worked flawlessly with the Sync app, however.

My complaint is with the set-up/configuration. The instructions were VERY sparse and left a lot to be figured out. For example, it says you can install it directly (and “seemlessly”) with the Google Home app, but it turned out that does not work; one has to first set it up with the Sync app, then link Sync to Google Home, and then Home can control the plug.

After some trial and error I got it working but if you are installing a GE smart device for the first time, the thin instructions might send you down a couple dead ends.

I bought this Smart Plug to compliment the Cync Dimmer Switch since I didn’t want to download and use too many different apps to control the home. I had so much trouble connecting it to the Cync App.

As a matter of fact, it NEVER connected to the Cync App saying it couldn’t connect to my Wifi but somehow only connected through my Google Home App. Within a week of purchase, this plug kept disconnecting from my Wifi constantly.

I would reconnect it the evening and I would find that it doesn’t work the next morning. I eventually returned it and purchased another branded smart plug. I exchanged this plug for different brand which is 4 plugs for the same price as this 1 plug and I haven’t had a problem with that one since.

Product worked as advertised. Note, I did need to register it that is not entirely clear after setting up with SmartLife. I was notified to set it up on a different cell phone 5. 0 ghz than the one I used 2.

Recently set up this device for a lamp I cannot reach due to a disability. It connect after a few tries and is a great convenience to use!

After 2-3 months, the physical switch no longer works — on both of my plugs. Recently, the timer — on both of my plugs — stopped working on the Smart Life app — while still working with smart plugs from other manufacturers.

Since I first automated, I have been using Hue lights, but was forced to use plugs from another company since Hue didn’t yet make plugs. These smart plugs were definitely a welcome addition and I am more than happy with them.

Set-up is just as easy as the bulbs and everything works flawlessly. Personally, I have the entire system attached to HomeKit and use Siri, but I also like that it is compatible with just about everything else should I ever decide to switch.

You won’t be disappointed if you purchase these smart plugs.

I’ve had these for a couple of weeks and so far so good. I have used other “smart” plugs with mixed results. They either do not play well with Hue or Homekit or they don’t stay connected. When it comes to home automation I want it to be simple and reliable.

I’m using these in my attached garage for automating my lights with a motion sensor. If anything changes over time with these Hue Smart Plugs I will update this review.
