13 Best Zinnias For Cutting (2022 Updated)

When I moved to North Caolina I knew I was going to play with wildflower seeds, I bought mixed package after mixed package season after season and all I really had around my property was a big mess of too much verity with an overall messy appearance.

So after watching what flowers worked best in my mixed seeds. I said “why I don’t I just buy the best flower of them all and forget the rest”. So I did ZINNIA. I bought the 1 pound bag And If I could, I would buy 1000 bags and hand them to any garden enthusiast and then say.

NOW!. my friend. you are the ZINNIZ KING. So I germinate about 500 seeds at a time in large easy trays. If you buy these today ( MAY)you can easily get flowers going by mid July and they will do great all the way till your first hard freeze.

Its pretty easy to do when I have over 100,000 seeds (MY GUESS) Iin my pound purchase. I let the hundreds of seeds germinate then repost the best in 3 inch posts that I use season after sesson. As you can imagine for those of you who think you need more and more and more to be happy.

When I feel like I have 500 too many then I send out my mass email to all my friends on that list to come buy and get your free ZINNIAS Its good to be the King.

This was the best investment!!!! For a little money I got a whole lot of flower power and these flowers are beautiful. I prune/deadhead weekly and the flowers just keep on blooming. Our weather has been extremely hot this summer but these guys and girls have held up under 21 plus days of high 95 and above degree heat and several 100 plus days.

I wish you could get the cut & grow again in one color but outside of that this has been by far the best investment and I plan to plant more in my gardent next spring. These flowers are so easy to grow, very easy to care for, they produce tons of flowers, the flower blooms last a log time and they are good for the environment as they attract tons of pollinators all day long.

I have to literally fan the bees away to cut/prune the flowers – a good problem to have!.

Let me start by saying that these flowers are beautiful, and I will be purchasing these seeds again for next spring. I am just beginning, and I had read that zinnias were one of the easiest flowers to grow, so I gave them a shot.

Zinnias may be easy COMPARED to other types of flowers, but in my experience, they are not EASY. The package did not come with instructions, so I found a YouTube video and went with it, without reading further.

I wish I had not followed that person’s directions because they scattered liberally and said, “It’s survival of the fittest in my garden!” Well, I did that, and most of them did not survive because of it.

Overall, I am pleased with my experience. Although I did not achieve the desired outcome, I learned A LOT, and now I know what to do next year, so I will leave the lessons I learned here in case they can help out any other newbies like myself.

1. Space the seeds well. If you scatter liberally, and you are planting a ton, it becomes a daunting and almost impossible tasks to thin them later. I might put 4-5 per square foot and then you can thin any that germinate beyond the one that can grow healthily in that space.

2. Give them plenty of organic matter/compost/manure. They love it. This is certainly necessary for my clay soil. 3. Pinch them when they get to be about 8 inches. I did this to just a few as an experiment, and they grew prolifically.

The other very few that survived are sad, single flowered and just now bloomed in late October. 4. Apply sluggo early and as often as the instructions say you can. Almost half of my seedlings were devoured by slugs.

5. When they are past the stage of seedlings and no longer at great risk of being destroyed by slugs, in come the aphids. Apply neem oil often. 6. Stake them. Mine fell over without them. 7. If you have a sprinkler system, don’t plant these anywhere near it or turn it off.

Mine got powdery mildew because of a sprinkler head drowning them weekly.

These plants know their job and go right to it. Great germination. Bloom like crazy. Water/no water and they will forgive you. Full blazing sun? Bring it on. I am buyinn way more for next year. Beautiful border plants.

These seeds were perfect. Their yellow color made them visible in the sand inside the real chicken egg. So if thrown to break. Perfect. Or if you wanted to open your egg you could easily separate them.

This is a great flower. I like the 7 color mix. I love that it is easy to grow. I start it in my home green house and plant it after the last frost. I like that it has a flower more like a daisy than a traditional zinnia, although I grow them too.

I love the height, not to tall and not to short. The thing I love the best is it has great blooms all season long until the first frost. Love it.

First time EVER growing zinnias and I plan to buy enough seeds next year and for years to come to plant them for everyone I love. These were easy to grow, beautiful and are everything a flower should be.

These drew MONARCHS! And hummingbirds too. Very enjoyable addition to my garden. The variety of shapes AND colors was gorgeous and most of the flower heads were large. Pics are near end of season. The only thing I would do different is to plant them a little further back from the walkway – tho too many gorgeous flowers is really not a bad problem to have! ;).

I ordered these seeds along with some other plants. When I planted them they came up in only a few days, and grew fast. I love the colors that I have and it’s always enjoyable to find out what colors they are once they bloom.

I live in Tucson where they grow well, but you have to water them a lot otherwise the sum will wilt them. The sun is very intense here and the temperature occasionally is over 110 degrees. Anyway I like the flowers a lot.

They grow fast, are healthy, and look beautiful.

Our summer has been extremely hot, and this has taken a toll on the plants. I know that Zinnias love sunshine and warm temperatures, but our weather has been stressful to both plants and gardeners,.

Absolutely loving these Zinia’s, great variety of colors, and truly beautiful intricate blooms. I planted six in a 5 gallon container and ended up with five different colors blooming, the sixth was a repeat color.

They are currently growing their second blooms on the stalks. Can’t wait to plant more next year.

We love California Giant zinnias and have been growing them for years. This is the first year (2021) we’ve bought from True Leaf Market, and we were so happy with the quantity of the seeds and quality of the flowers.

We planted 60 linear feet of zinnias and they look amazing. We get so many compliments from the neighbors. Easy to grow.

shipped quickly and they looked just like the beautiful picture online. Arrived in in perfect condition and I found that if I preferred the petals opened up that I could do it when I arrange the petals when I dyed them or if using raw, just spray with water a little bit.

Made a beautiful huge arrangement for my dining room table and a beautiful arrangements as a house warming gift for my sister!.

I loved these flowers, they were the perfect size (medium) and I loved the thistle at the center of each. Such great layers of petals, and they dyed very well, I simply ran my finger over the tips, to separate.

I only submerged one thistle center, it didn’t seem to affect the original dark brown color too much. I didn’t want the color disturbed at all, so I simply dyed them in a circle, avoiding the thistle center.

Got the seeds, planted, germinated. Really nice flowers that attract insects and birds. BUT. They need a LOT of water. We live in central Virginia, need to water the plants at least once a day. Please do not come and lecture us on how to water the plants, the soil, etc.

We have other flowers that require way less water than these. Disappointed, since it was indicated that these plants do not need much water. I have better things to do in the evening than watering the plants.

I wanted to make sure I update my review from 3 months ago where I gave 1 star and stated that I’ve had trouble growing zinnias from American Meadows over the past several years but have had great luck with your other products.

This year I ended up planting the zinnias late–mid to late June–and I’ve had great success! Normally I plant my wildflower seeds and mixes in the fall and the early spring. I think what I’ve learned about this species is that it enjoys warm soil and possibly the seeds can’t overwinter in my area.

The zinnias are currently just moving into full bloom and they are big, beautiful and attracting butterflies in droves. I have more butterflies than I can count and all different kinds. I highly recommend this product and am considering planting more of these next year.

Also, my garden is plagued by a very high local deer population and only a handful of these zinnias have been “pruned” by them. My cosmos, rudbeckia, echinacea, and tall tickseed are another story.

This was my first summer ever planting a garden as a new homeowner, and I was generous with the zinnia seeds thinking that only a few would come up. Boy was I wrong! We have a very large garden space, and the zinnias are a lovely way to fill space and bring lots of bright colors.

We’ve gotten many compliments from neighbors. I’m just amazed that they’ve done so well, especially since I’m a novice! Highly recommend. :).

The seeds that I have received from Everwilde are the best I’ve ever purchased. First, the foil packaging is not only beautiful, it keeps moisture from the seeds. The instructions are succinct, but thorough.

The illustrated instrunctions are the same. A photo of the plant is on every package I’ve received. My only critique (as a graphic designer) is that yellow-colored type is one of the hardest to read.

All caps is also harder to read than traditional upper/lower case usage. This critiques are trivial compared with the outstanding packaging. Finally, I love the Bible verse on the package. I haven’t used the seeds yet, so I can’t speak about them.

But the care in creating outstanding packaging leads me to believe the seeds will be remarkable too. I highly recommend this company that seems to be the cream of the crop in plant seeds.

I was so pleased with not only the speed of delivery but the quantity and quality of the Q/P of Zinnia seeds I purchased. The very same day I planted 4 small flats of seedlings. Now just 5 days later they are all sprouting.

I live in Western North Carolina, and these Zinnias are absolutely gorgeous and are so easy to grow! I’ve actually had people stop their car to tell me how beautiful the Zinnias are. My garden attracts a plethora of butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.

I will continue to buy these seeds. and I really love the zip top bag the seeds come in. One of the 1/4 lb. bags lasts me 2 growing seasons.

These mum bushes are excellent to use and having more than just one or two in the bushes make them an easy choice for wreath making. They look and feel real to the touch, a good size filler flower as well.

Mums come available in different colors which makes it great to use with variations in wreaths or hanging door baskets and any other crafting projects.

These rose bushes are beautiful!! Very vibrant red & just enough greenery that you don’t need to add additional greenery to your background. My mom looked at the pink roses for a long time but thought she shouldn’t get them. When I brought them home she was very happy. The color is soft and they look almost real.

Zinnias are super easy to grow for a showcase of color in your garden landscape. Once they start they stay and stay throughout spring summer fall til frost. They are self seeding so you have them the following spring, and/or you can save the heads and plant everywhere in the spring!.

We planted the Anniversary Zinnia’s in several places (full sun and full/part sun) and they all have been blooming for about 2 months! They are easy to grow and are a great flower to cut. Seems the more I cut, the more they grow! Love them and will buy them again!.

The flowers are very pretty and a great assortment of size and color.
